“ The Righteous Side of Hell." It should’ve been so easy. Get in, get out, and make sure no one lived to tell the tale; no problem. This was just another gang of thugs after all; drug dealers, murders, and much, much worse. None of them deserved to live; none of the were worth a show of mercy. Better to end them here and now, once and for all. The world would thank him for it later.
The first two outside the abandoned warehouse had died before they even knew it and dropped with scarcely a sound. The next fell just as quickly when a knife was drawn across his throat. Three more followed before the rest even realized something was amiss. Then, the fighting began in earnest and the steady bark of gunfire filled the night. Flairs of orange and red like miniature suns lit the narrow spaces between rows of stacked crates that had no business being there. Searing lead sliced through the air like horizontal rain. Curses flew from the flew from the lips of the dying as a lone figure cloaked in death cut them down with cold precision.
Almost as quickly as it began, the firefight was over; twenty-six of twenty-eight gang members lay dead or dying. The finally two—children barely into their teen—cowered before the man that only moments ago brought their world crashing down.
It was here that Daniel finally found himself hesitant. Bereft of their weapons, neither child was a threat to him and he wasn’t keen on the idea of killing them, even if his current contract called for their deaths. He knew that both were guilty of at least one count of murder for the simple reason that all members of the Black Rats were forced to kill an innocent during their initiation. Even so, he couldn’t bring himself to willingly end them.
They were still children.
It didn’t change the fact that he had a contract to fulfill.
Finally, Daniel uttered the first words since the night began. He knew the words were as good as a death sentence for the children, but at least his hands would remain partially clean of their blood and their sacrifice would ensure his soul remained firmly rooted.
“Kupiec.”

The scent. The scent would arrive first. As if traveling upon a crisp oasis wind. Though along with the silence the heavy aroma of spice and exotic spices rushed the space, eliminating any meager attempt of vanilla candles. The sensation was so powerful in its poignancy most mortals' eyes watered. Saffron, Turmeric, Coriander, Cumin, Cloves. As if a doorway opening to a desert another gust of wind entered the room, this time casting away that pile left by the earlier cigarette.
Upon any mortal having collected themselves, eyes fluttering back open after the surprising suddenness of a gust that strong there stood a man. Not a monster. A humanoid male stood in an utmost proper posture. A suited man with the cosmetics of a rather handsome civilian of Suraja, the deserted lands of the West. The strangely colored eyes would translate brightly given the dark suit and dark hair. A polite smile showcased a sense of etiquette.
"Good afternoon." The Deity spoke, the voice deep with a hint of a foreign accent. Though which one specifically couldn't quite be made out. Slipping His hands into His suit jacket's pockets the God looked to His right and left. Kupiec allowed a single solitary glance to the human children.Kupiec's strange gaze slowly turned back to meet eye contact with the mortal who had summoned Him. Recognition clearly etched into His features as the polite smile shifted into a mischievously amused grin.
"I see you've been busy." The Deity said with a delicate tilt of the head. Indeed, quite the mess had been left behind from the gun fight.

“ The Righteous Side of Hell." The smell. The smell was always the worst part of it. It burned a hole into his sense of smell and heralded the arrival of something dangerous, inhuman. It filled Daniel with dread like he rarely felt in his life. Not even his training could fully prepare him for it and that fact raised his hackles more than anything. His instincts told him to run as quickly as his legs would carry him and keep running until he collapsed in a heap. He knew that it would be a pointless gesture though, so he stood his ground and faced the coming storm with the same courage and stubborn will that kept him alive through the years.
Daniel barely turned to acknowledge the presence waltzing confidently through the door, heedless of the death that lay beyond it. “Afternoon,” he greeted. “Pretty sure ya already saw my handywork on Your way in, Lord Kupiec. Five bodies plus a little extra ta sweeten the deal, and a pair of human kids. Just like I promised.”
He indicated the cowering children with a wave of his revolver, glad that the gloves helped to conceal the white-knuckle grip he held. Everything that made him the man he was screamed at him that this was wrong. Even if they’d been gang member—even if they committed crimes and tried to kill him—they didn’t deserve this. They were just children. They didn’t know any better. They still had time to turn their lives around, to make something of themselves.
They didn’t deserve this.
And yet…
… And yet, they needed to be sacrificed like lambs.
For the greater good…
Even then, Daniel’s posture was tense, rigid. He locked eyes with the oldest of the pair. The kid stared daggers into his eyes even as he held his weeping companion.
Just look away, kid, [/b] Daniel pleaded. It’ll be over soon enough.[/div][/div][/div]

"Mhm." The God would muse to Himself. As etiquette called for Ku's eyes could be seen addressing the varying directions that Daniel motioned to. The usual with a dash of a bit extra. Oh, how the Deity enjoyed dealings with competent mortals. And then there it was. Kupiec's followed the motioning hand to land His strangely colored gaze to the shivering children. The final portion of their deal. There it was. His delicacy.
"... Mmm." Kupiec walked towards the group to get a better viewing. Older than He preferred, weren't they? With the denial of foods through the cursed contract that still bound Him, souls and mortal children were the closest He could come to a bonne bouche. Just as humans ate veal and lamb, so He too found mortal youths to carry a specific taste that adults did not.
Those black tassled shoes sounded with every step as He neared the huddled few. Trembling and fear growing more apparent with every stride closer. "Very good." Kupiec would reply, His gaze never wavering from His prize. "You did well." Turning finally, hands lacing behind His back, the God would address the contracted one once again. Posture exquisite with a business tone. "Even without a set deadline you still delivered within relatively good timing. It's an appreciated feature."
Along with them being fresh. Still alive, hearts beating. With a simple blink of the eyes Kupiec would smile. "I approve of what you have brought Me. You may kill them now."

“ The Righteous Side of Hell." Daniel barely paid any attention to the deity as He examined the children he’d captured as though they were slabs of prime beef. He supposed that in a way they were to Him, but it still left a bad taste in his mouth. The old wolf looked away for what seemed like hours, trying and failing to come to terms with the fact that he was about to sacrifice a pair of children to a hungry god. It was far from the worst thing that he’d done in his past and it likely wouldn’t be the last. More than that, this had to be done if he was going to reach his goal. It still left a sour taste in his mouth.
The moment he finally tuned back into the conversation was the moment that he heard something that made his heart drop.
You may kill them now.
Daniel’s eyes widened into saucers as he stared at Kupiec. Kill them! Why?! He was a god, wasn’t he? Why couldn’t He do it himself?! Why did the task have to fall to him?! A thousand thoughts roiled like a maelstrom as his mind reeled, questing for the reason behind it all. All the while, horror continued to blossom in his chest and it showed in his body language. His grip on his weapon tightened until his hands shook, his arms trembled, and the stark reality of what was being commanded of him set in.
“What do you mean?” Daniel asked. “Can’t you kill them Yourself?”

The question couldn't help but irk the God. Although Daniel would be staring at the back of His head, the children brave enough to stare upwards to their fate would notice. The pleased demeanor would flinch. "I meant. What I said." Turning on a black polished tassled shoe, Kupiec would make direct eye contact. "You may kill them now."
The words would understandably cause tremblings amidst the kids watching, the oldest doing his best to be there for the youngest. "I pride Myself on being well versed in mortal tongues. I know I didn't stutter or mispronounce my intended thoughts." Those strangely colored eyes would narrow most however at the second question. Gods, how irritating.
"Don't assume in what I am capable of doing, mortal." There would be a particular sharpness to this sentence that was vacant in all the others. Once again, that term being used as if it were a harsh slur. Kupiec was a Deity that didn't drop the M word often but when He did it was during times of frustration. No, Mr Caim didn't know of His limitations. If Kupiec had it His way, no one would ever. But nevertheless it was yet another negative reminder of how crippled He really was when it came to freedom of choice.
"When you go out to dinner," the God would begin, "and order a ribeye does the host walk in a live cow assuming you're going to do all of the messy work yourself? No." Kupiec would answer for Daniel, not leaving enough room for the human to answer even if he wanted to. "No, they do not. You are my host. You asked for my presence, not vice versa. The least you can do is plate my meal for Me."

“ The Righteous Side of Hell." The horror rending Daniel’s insides only grew in the face of the Deity’s displeasure as he explained the reasoning behind his command. He fought down the urge to raise his hand and take aim at the cannibalistic God. The equation of two innocents with a side of beef turned his stomach and saw his white-knuckle grip tighten painfully. Hate competed with fear and disgust as he turned away from the God and Daniel leveled a blank stare at the two children.
The eldest of the two had taken to holding the younger girl as she wept into his shirt. Black Hammer found its holster and was traded for Raze-Lighter. Daniel strode towards the last of the Black Rats, stopping scarcely a foot away from the two. His face solidified into a blank mask empty of any emotion. A trembling hand rose to strike the lethal blow but moved no further. Time seemed to stand still for the old wolf. Memories of the inhumanity and wickedness that plagued his intemperate youth flooded to the fore. The oceans of blood, the mountains of bones, and countless atrocities committed at his hands haunted him.
He found himself unable to move…
“Go ahead a do it, coward!” The child looked up at him, defiant even in the end. Daniel’s hand ceased its trembling and fell at last, painting the adjacent wall red. The boy’s head parted ways with his shoulders amid the frightened shrieks of a girl robbed of protection. She tried to run, but Daniel’s boot found her leg and the crunch of snapping bones echoed. The hunter pressed his knee into her back, deaf to her crying. His hand rose and fell and again the wall was coated red.
Daniel rose to his feet and sheathed his weapon. The ringing in his head rose in pitch at the sound of each step. He stopped beside Kupiec and leveled the same blank stare at Him.
“Your meal awaits,” Daniel said. Venom laced every syllable despite the lack of expression on his face. Then, the old wolf averted his eyes and walked away, swaying as though drunk. Unless the God had further need of him, Daniel would continue outside and mount his motorcycle. He was in desperate need of a copious amount of alcohol tonight.
