The Plot Machine and Magic At War magic, spiritualism, and religion are on the decline
the Old Ways are widely seen as obsolete The Humorously Shortest Summary Possible
The year is 2593. In this futuristic fantasy world most Humans are racist dicks towards the other two living races available (I know, shocking). Cyborgs though obviously awesome are seen as tools (both the insult and literal definition). Magi who can genetically use magic are seen as freaks and are assumed terrorists because it's easier to fear what is unknown than to learn about it. Humans can use a certain type of magic called Runic Magic themselves by learning it through a University Harry Potter-ish style. And if your character chooses to be an ignorant douche they can become a Hunter of Magi because when is Genocide not fun?
Your character can be atheist however the reality of this world is a polytheistic array of Gods who are each dicks in their own ways. Ghost is also a race you can choose from, starting off or when your character dies.
For those that don't do the math mentioned below: Magi were rounded up for the Relocation camps 40 years ago. The mass Magi breakouts from those camps triggered the Magi genocide 8 years ago. The genocide lasted 6 months before it was legally officially ended.

A Longer And More Artistic Plot Summary (that has self respect)
Although present day Ethea is still the world's most advanced nation technologically speaking, it has been the world's center stage for digressions on human rights, civil war, and even genocide. Obviously to lead people to such measures there are multiple factors and happenstances that must occur. For the sake of keeping this summary precise and short we will only focus on the major headlines that demanded the culture's attention in the most recent history. 7 December 2541"Senator Isaac Pennington was assassinated earlier today during a public address [....] Four suspects have finally been arrested according to police [....] According to the update just released by police the reason eye witnesses did not respond immediately to the killing that happened right in front of them until a whole twenty-six minutes later has now been confirmed to have been caused by an "Illusion". All eye witnesses claim to have been listening to the senator, even engaging with him in question/answer format for over twenty minutes before the "Illusion" was dropped and in the blink of an eye the terrible aftermath was then revealed to them [....]" "[....] All suspects in custody are Magi, two of them just recent migrants from Suraja. Speculation is that this assassination was in response to the Langton Bill that as we all know has received some backlash from minorities but would eventually pass into law just last night. The Bill requires all Magi to wear a bar code so that they may be distinguished for security reasons upon entering public places [....]"19 February 2542"Today the first Relocation Centers opened its doors to hundreds of Magi. The Chancellor's words were full of conviction during the televised event stating this was necessary for the country's security during this War On Terrorism. "The Relocation Centers are a temporary solution until a more efficient system can be created for Magi to keep Ethea's citizens safe." Already there has been an appeal made but the Courts ruled within hours that the Chancellor's decision was to be upheld and stated the validity --""-- The Court completely avoided the issue of the incarceration of Ethean citizens with no due process! However if you care for my creation I shall return with a gift." And so the Creator left leaving the gods behind, allowing them to find their own identity. Time would pass, Spirits would form into existence (Spirit information and history found here), evolution among mortals would occur, wars among the gods will have come and passed. Finally the Grand Being returned to see that this universe still existed. And thus the Grand Being, pleased that the universe still existed, gifted our realm with souls. And so a set number of souls was released within the universe, a higher number of them finding homes within the most advanced forms of mortal life on the only inhabited planet in the universe. Humans. After that, the Grand Being left with no promise to return nor has ever been seen of again. (Each God has their personal history written down in their profiles found here)[/li] [li] AGE OF DRAGONS THE OLDEN MAGICAs the early centuries passed an unknown substance reared its faceless head. Raw strange magic that has been coined "Olden Magic" came in all four forms of matter: solid, liquid, gas, and plasma. Everything that this substance touched would be dramatically changed, not just physically but for humans or animals especially it would change their very nature. Such odd creatures emerged back then such as griffins, harpies, pegasus, leviathan. The trees even uprooted themselves and most famously of all, dragons ruled the skies. After a short while the Spirits implored the Gods to rid the Mortal World and their own World, the Spirit World, of this disastrous Olden Magic. Most of the Gods, not seeing how it affected them personally, ignored the pleas. Arithelia along with a small number of lesser Gods did actually attempt to fix the problem. But with so little being known of the substance, the Spirits began to relocate themselves into the Mortal World, since their own world was becoming a less than desirable location due to the problem.[/li] [li] THE ANCIENT WAR(This time period can also be found in the Spirit description) It would not take long before Mortals and Spirits began having territory issues. Mortals populating so quickly and the Olden Magic still eating away at the Spirit World. This would grow into a conflict known as the Ancient War to the extreme few that have read the deteriorating ancient manuscripts. Spirits and Humans fought a lengthy war that resulted in mind staggering deaths from both sides. Gods even became involved, Mortal focused Gods versus Magic focused Gods resulting in the longest Deity conflict as well.
It would not be until the Olden Magic became a dangerously growing threat for both sides that the differences would be put aside and a solution would come into fruition.[/li] [li] LOCKING AWAY THE OLDEN MAGICThe mysterious substance known as Olden Magic was left to exist until it caused a horrifying event that even the gods themselves, regardless of how selfish or lazy they were, had to take notice of. The substance ATE a God. A God had been KILLED through a manner that had never been witnessed before.
With the other gods finally no longer sitting idly by, a plan would be made. The Spirits agreed to sacrifice their smaller realm for the cause, forcing themselves to remain in the Mortals' realm. The gods agreed to lure the "it", the Olden Magic, towards the gateways. The humans agreed to worship and pray to better empower the deities. The selfless Yal-Thaddag, god of "planets' orbital alignment" sacrificed himself by remaining inside the Spirits' realm so that the gates may be closed, locking the Olden Magic inside. Most beings evolved through contact with Olden Magic have died off. All of the known dragons were slain for example. However, a few such as the beast in Loch Périlleux and strange creatures found in the Outer Lands have remained living from those Olden times. [/li] [li][/li] MYSTIC ERA [li] BIRTH OF THE MAGI RACEThough there was an end to a very bloody war there was no denying that tension still existed between Spirits and Humans. One Goddess who still exists today attempted to peacefully converse with Mortals in hopes to improve the situation. Overall the talks were overwhelmingly successful and from it came about a gift. In an attempt to bring the two sides closer in understanding, Arithelia gifted to five specific Humans the ability to utilize Magic, just as some Spirits could. These Humans would become the first ever Magi and their numbers would grow through the natural means of populating with other Humans. Now there is some debate on wither Arithelia gifted the Magical abilities to adults or, as some would believe, she fell in love with a Human male and gave birth to five beings that would in turn become known as the first Magi. Or perhaps Magi were the fruition of a Spirit having relations with a Human? Honestly, the theories over this momentous occasion are numerous and at this time we'll leave it open to the floor for interpretation.[/li] [li] AGE OF PEACEThrough out a near five hundred year time period, four hundred eighty-six years exactly, there was a rare time of peace. No war. No political coups. It was a time famously known for its rise in education and Human's rights. Magi were accepted in an air of fascination, seeing them almost as demi gods. It was during this age that the Goddess of War fell due to the lack of praise for her. [/li] [li][/li] INDUSTRIAL ERA [li] CREATION OF THE CYBORG RACEAs Humans are known to do, they populated further and grew in their technological advancements. Prosthetics for the disabled eventually became Bionics for anyone who wished to get an extra boost. Artificial Intelligence would come into being and would eventually be given mechanical bodies to best serve their creators or purchasers. The first brain to ever be given an entirely new machine body was a millionare who wished to attempt to cheat the death his Lung Cancer had seemed to doom him to. Cyborgs became a normal sight and continue to assist in moving the culture into the future.[/li] [li] THE RISE OF RACISMAs Mortals advanced with their technology Magic grew less desirable. It became a scary unknown and thus something to fear. With this unhealthy atmosphere Humans wrote laws that they believed would protect them from these unknowns. One of the most extreme cases demanded all Magi be tattooed with a bar code that would be scanned automatically when entering public places. Retaliation outbursts from the Magi community would occur with more frequency and it would only worsen from there.[/li] [li] THE MAGI GENOCIDEAs was explained in the Longer And More Artistic Plot Summary found above this post, one of the most influential politicians that voted for the bar code bill was assassinated. Following this there were other assassinations and even terrorist attacks that were believed to be conducted by Magi. This led to Relocation Centers, forcing Magi to all move into separate fenced in communities through out the Country. After a period of time one of these Relocation Camps experienced a mass breakout. From there some of those that broke out assisted in demolishing other Relocation Centers to free more of their own brethren. However, because the Relocation Centers were law it made all Magi escaped convicts. With the assistance of Hunters of Kalidas, there was a shameful time frame where Magi were hunted and killed legally. Since then, this law has been rectified and the current political climate is a very intense tightrope. Will the Country topple back over into fearful war torn chaos? Ethean Government So, how does this work?
Ethea's Government System
Ethea has a Monarchy that appoints the Prime minister out of the high council. Has veto power over any law. Anti magi. The King also appoints justices for the Judicial branch (judges, courts, etc.)
Monarch: The monarch has the final say on all executive decisions. The also have the ability to veto any law passed. The monarch personally selects the High Council. The monarch and their family are the face of Ethea. The Monarch also appoints justices for the judical branch.
High Council: A small selective group of people the Monarch trusts completely. Highly secretive and highly selective.
Prime Minster: Selected by the Monarch himself in conjunction with the High Council, this leader runs Parliament.
Parliament: consists of representatives from the major cities depending on size and population. other than the ones listed here we can assume there are at least 12 others from small towns that just aren't on our board. so a total of 24 in the Parliament. They make the laws.
Felici Representatives: 6 - University district: Automatically the headmaster of the school. - Port District: West district. Elected official. - Business district: North district. Elected Official - Temple district: South District. Often a priest, but is still elected. Pro-Magi - Residential District: East District. Elected. - Hunter District: Added a few months after the mass outbreak for a faster system in dealing with the magi problem. A motion started by Ulrich. Automatically the head of the Hunter Guild (well the human head). Currently they are trying to stay in the parliament even though their legal standing has fallen over the years.
Dagos Representatives: 4 all elected - Northern Residential district - Western Downtown District - Eastern Port District - Southern Slums District
Camlorn Representatives: 2 - Mayor of Camlorn - Elected official: Zero Magi, Sent by Haven to represent themselves.

Corporations Big Business? Big Money.
Big Name Corporations
A Note on Corporations: This section is to provide some additional lore about the businesses of Inertia. This list is NOT comprehensive; it would be impossible for us to name even all large businesses of the world (think about how many exist in just America, for example). Rather, we are listing only a handful of them, in case anyone needs or wants some additional direction to go. We still strongly encourage out members to include made-up corporations or weapon manufacturers or anything like that in their biographies! That is what helps shape the world of Inertia.
Axium Corporation “Innovations and Ingenuity” Home Office: Dremvolok Official Branch Offices: Bruniik, Junos, Pate Sister Corporations: Verge Inc. (Ikigai) and INT Systems, Inc (One office in Dagos).
Common Knowledge: Axium Corporation is a large, Wuld-based engineering and research corporation. They are outwardly a quiet corporation, though the name is well known in Wuld, Strun, and Fokradiin. Officially, they are a technology firm that focuses on researching new technology for smarter AI, among other things. They turn a steady, if unimpressive, profit on their Android and Hosted Human products. Though they are centered in Wuld, their products and representatives are often seen in most other countries. There are, of course, many dark rumors about the company, relating to kidnapping, illegal experimentation, and mind control. In Wuld, this shady business is almost expected, but they maintain a cover to help spread their branches and sister corps to other countries.
Hidden Knowledge: Axium’s rumors aren’t baseless, though that’s more common knowledge in Wuld than elsewhere. The corporation has experimented heavily on Magi, usually kidnapped or “adopted” under the guise of charity. Since magi are not often missed, they haven’t come under much scrutiny for it. While they conduct any number of horrific, deadly, or violent experiments (even having subjects hunt down others for them), their main focus is brain-altering technology. They have technology capable of erasing memories, suppressing thoughts and emotions, and almost anything short of actual mind control, which is almost certainly their goal.
Chasteaux Arms “Put Your Security in Our Hands” Home Office: Felici Official Branch Offices: Sister Corporations: Nullsec (Security firm and weapons R&D, based in Felici), Embric Armaments (Melee weapons, based in Eisen, Strun)
Common Knowledge Chasteaux Arms, named for the original founder Victoria en Chaseaux, is without a doubt the go-to producer for weapons in the modern age. They produce anything from handguns to precision rifles to mounted vehicle weapons to built-in cyborg armaments. They’ve been in business for nearly 500 years and have a reputation for being in-step with new technologies. They are one if, if not the, biggest corporation in [WORLD], and have influence everywhere. Most weapons on the market and in the military are produced by Chasteaux Arms, and their sister corporations are also the heads of producing security systems (turrets, alarms, etc) and old-fashioned weapons (swords, bows, etc). Like many, Chasteaux Arms is no stranger to controversy and public outcries, and they have been blamed for nearly all conflicts in recent history.
Hidden Knowledge Chasteaux Arms does have a large say in the government, whether through bribing officials or lobbying with the weight of their corporate and economic power. They were a major force in the push for relocation, hoping to start a conflict and thus make a profit. Embric Armaments heavily exploits illegal Magi slavery and servitude for its operations, and the current CEO of Chasteaux Arms, Heather Aranas-Chasteaux, secretly funds the Hunter’s Guild.
Terra Nova Engineering and Research “Guiding Humanity Forward” Home Office: Elios Branch Offices: Felici, Eisen, Hjall Sister Corporations: Terra Firma (Ecology, Energy, and Nature Research, based in Ikigai), Terra Stella (Space and Physics Research and Production, based in Suraja)
Common Knowledge Terra Nova is a household name (Similar to Microsoft or Google). It would not be inaccurate to say that they were the spearhead of the industrial age, and maintain that throne even now as one of the top producers of cybernetics, androids, and bodies for hosted humans. Most of their work involves these three fields, but they have fingers in all the pies when it comes to science and innovation. Currently, they are one of the loudest proponents of cyborg rights, for obvious reasons. While they have many competitors in a world booming with innovation, research, and science, they remain at the forefront of new developments, and more often than not are solely responsible for setting the paces of technological advancement.
Hidden Knowledge Like many, Terra Nova exploits magi labor, though does not deem them fit for experimentation… At least, most. They have tried for many years to develop cybernetics that would sync with magi, though so far all attempts have resulted in failure, and little progress has been made. Some of these subjects ARE volunteers, but many are tricked, coerced, or kidnapped and forced to lose limbs and undergo painful rejections and failed implants for years.
South Surajan Shipping Company. “Sailing the Seas since 2050” Home Office: Junos Branch Offices: At least one office, dock, and warehouse in every seaside city on the Atlas. Sister Corporations: None.
Common Knowledge SSSC handles over half of the world’s water-based shipments. They’ve been around for centuries, and have historically made use of Water and Air magi ever since its inception, and this practice is continued today. Their steadfastness in recent times and vocal opposition to Ethea’s relocation movement has led many to rely on other companies, but SSSC still holds strong; racism aside, most companies can’t fault their prices and reliability, and so begrudgingly use their services. Many magi find employment aboard ships or within warehouses.
Hidden Knowledge SSSC has engaged in smuggling operations, both illegal goods and assisting magi during the genocides and relocation era find safety in foreign lands. While on the surface they seem pro-magi rights, in the shadows they work against them, as currently they exploit their desperation for cheap labor in a dangerous job. Many outspoken labor activists for magi have gone missing under mysterious circumstances.
Hyalldome “Eden: Brought to Reality.” Home Office: Hyall Branch Offices: Izumrud, Zakat, Napolovinu, Elios, Felici, Fort Keyn
Common Knowledge Hyalldome was originally a science experiment known as Project:Eden which began 160 years ago in Hyall. Eden was intended to bring a stable environment to unsatisfactory climates,like the one Fokradiin is plauged with, and after a long time producing a working prototype, they finally succeeded in developing the technology to change the climate of an area after five years of research. However to produce a working model they needed a great deal of money. Thus with a grant from the government and a few deals from a few business majors they hired, they had their funding to build one around the far town of Izumrud. Construction took many years to create the first dome, and a few more years to get it to coax the environment into a livable climate without causing major harm to it. However, when they were finished ten years later, Izumrud became a tropical paradise, with new plants, warm summers and temperate winters. After such success of Izumrud, the Science team were flooded with requests from other cities. Needing a new outlook at the domes, the business majors turned what was just a group of scientists into a fully functioning corporation based in the capitol of Hyall, aptly naming it Hyalldome.
Hyalldome and Fokradiin as a whole are a rare place where Magi are not seen as lesser beings. Hyalldome is a proud supporter of the equal rights movement. Since even if a city didn't like their view on magi, if they want a dome, they deal with it; f they want that dome to keep running, they deal with it.
Hidden Knowledge Hyalldome charges a massive tax to the cities within their massive constructs labeled as "upkeep fees". By doing so they rake in a large sum of the city's income, making them a multi-trillion dollar company. Fokradian cities are not exempt from this tax but rather they get a better rate than most. Fort Keyn also has a relatively low rate, even though they house not one but three Bio domes. This is because Hyalldome made a deal with the Fokradiin government, they would allow their little "upkeep fee" as long as they were able to use their office at Fort Keyn as a station to spy on Wuld, whom the Fokradiin government had begun loosing faith in.
