[attr="class","biggie"] [attr="class","textie"] WAIT A MINUTE... The small diner was mostly empty during the early dawn, which suited Maevia just fine. Dull sunlight shone down on her booth, located in the far back. It was quiet, save for bustle in the kitchen. The air was heavy with the smell of fresh coffee, and it mingled with the gentle smoke of her cigarette; she had switched from the standard brand to cloves, which came in sweet flavors and a variety of scents. She knew he still disliked it… and yet it never seemed to deter him. In front of her sat a half-full cup of coffee, and a barely-touched short pancake stack. Wisps of smoke danced from the freshly lit cigarette in the ashtray. Her ears were on the idle conversation of staff and customers, her mind always jotting notes. Her hands were busy with another puzzle, a 9x9x9 rubik’s cube, which she was most of the way through solving. She didn’t often take this sort of relaxation time to herself; it was difficult to unwind, and even now her mind raced with dozens of tasks she could be doing instead. But she was human, mostly, and couldn’t eat ramen for EVERY meal. It was also good to depend on her own eyes, instead of her agents. She let her permanently dark-bagged eyes drift up to look out the window, and took a drink from her cooling coffee. This was a good area. Not by most standards, of course; it was just on the outskirts of the known black market area. It was a perfect place to see a mix of criminals, suppliers, and sometimes even regular people; regardless of their background, most were just people looking for a cheap, warm meal. It was a good front, too; not many knew that behind the charming diner area was a haven of illegal gambling and drug trade. They did an excellent job keeping it on the down low, though her agent here fed her wonderful details. All for the low price of feeding his gambling addiction by making debts disappear. Her mind drifted back to work, as always. Her deal with him and Kyne had worked out wonderfully for her so far; she had to admit, she was impressed with how quickly the magi picked up on how things worked. She idly wrapped her lips around a forkful of pancake. In fact, wasn’t it several months ago at this very booth that she was first introduced to her? She hadn’t been back here since; too busy with training Fey, talking with goddesses, and catching up with Elijah. As the morning went on, more customers trickled into the diner. Her hands idly worked the puzzle while her eyes and ears gathered information. She received a few shy, wayward glances in her direction; her cybernetic eye certainly did get looks, as it was rare to see any that didn’t blend seamlessly into the face. Hers was obvious metal, with wires weaving through the skin around it; an old model, and one she had customized herself. Her arm was much the same, although it was always covered by her hoodie, and so didn’t gather quite the same amount of attention. She pulled her hood further over her face. It was always annoying to feel those eyes on her. They were fleeting, but being watched always made her skin crawl. Something about this entire scene felt… eerily familiar. ===== Tags: Kupiec | Daniel Caim Notes: For whenever Kupi poofs y'all here [attr="class","iconie"] [newclass=.biggie]-webkit-transitionduration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover]margin-left:-300px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie]opacity:0;margin-top:-425px;margin-bottom:150px;width:285px;height:400px;padding:10px;background-color:#000000;border:solid 1px #000000;color:#e4e0e0;text-align:justify;overflow:auto;margin-left:10px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;font:11px calibri;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .textie]opacity:1;margin-left:610px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie::-webkit-scrollbar]width:10px;background:#000000;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background:#9589a0;border:2px solid #e4e0e0;[/newclass] [newclass=.iconie]opacity:0;margin-top:-240px;margin-left:-220px;margin-bottom:50px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .iconie]opacity:1;[/newclass] [newclass=.tagsie]opacity:0;font:11px calibri;color:#b7b7b7;margin-top:-75px;margin-left:-75px;margin-bottom:40px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .tagsie]opacity:1;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass]

Kupiec's eyes were still glistening multiple hues upon hearing His name be called at the time the God appeared. It hadn't taken long. Within seconds of Daniel speaking the Deity's name Ku would be there, placing a hand upon the mortal's shoulder firmly. "It's always rough on you humans the first time. So here are the rules." Ku blinked, naming off the points as if they were ingredients for a cake. "You are going to take a deep breath and close your eyes. You are not going to pull away from me. You are not going to open your eyes nor are you going to breath until I tell you otherwise."
The deal had already been made. The Human had been given a few hours to unwind from the stress of signing such a document. Now it was time for two of his followers to meet in a fashion that was sure to piss off the green haired dove. Just as always, He was going to enjoy this. "If you don't follow these guidelines you are almost guaranteed to die during transportation. So it's imperative you listen, yes? That way all you'll be dealing with is the usual possibility of nausea." Blink blink. "Understand?"
Only after being given an affirmative answer the two disappeared --
-- toooooo reappear. Daniel would have felt the tight grip upon his shoulder all through out the process. A cold chill would have run over his system, in and out. Teleporting was an oddity for mortals to experience after all. "You can relax." Ku would say. The scenery around them would indeed be quite different. Within seconds of time that seemed the fly past them, Daniel would find himself not only in a diner but also suddenly seated at a booth. On his right would be seated the familiar God of Commerce. On the other side of table however, "Maevia!" Kupiec exclaimed in that delighted voice. Not loud enough to obtain any attention but definitely at a volume that would assuredly cause an unexpected mortal a startling. "My dear, it's been too long. Both of us busy. We really should make the time to--"
"H-hello. Um, can I get you something?"
The God turned to the same waitress as it had been the last time Kupiec had pulled this. The girl blinked at the men in slight confusion. I mean, yeah, the place wasn't a ghost town but she hadn't heard the door ring when these two had entered the building. "For me? No. For my guest, possibly. Could we have a moment with a menu? Ah! And there it is. Aren't you a well prepared little thing." Kupi would praise as He took the offered menu and laid it in front of Daniel whether he wanted it or not. "I'll wave you back over when he's chosen. Thank you, dear." The God concluded with a kind smile that could melt an ice sculpture. Of the which would melt away any concerns she had had previously, only to be replaced with a blush and nervous giggle as she walked away. Looking forward to being waved back over. "It's on me if you're wanting something." Ku would say to Daniel before looking back to meet Maevia's gaze with a pleased smile.

“ YOU'RE GONNA CARRY THAT WEIGHT. It was a rough two hours for Daniel. His night of hunting was finally taking its toll on him to a degree that he’d not expected at first. Whether it was the hunt itself, or the deal he struck after its completion, something was bringing his exhaustion to a peak. He wasn’t even able to make it to his bed before everything came crashing down on him. Luckily, he still had a couch on which he could crash
Tired as he was, the man woke easily enough when the alarm he’d set sounded. He swiped at the haptic interface until the racket stopped before reluctantly rising. Another yawn escaped his lips as he stumbled to the bathroom and washed his face in cold water. It was enough to drive away the dark dreams haunting his thoughts. He looked as himself in the mirror to ensure that he looked somewhat presentable. Then, he took a deep breath and returned to the living room.
“Kupiec, it’s time.” He managed not to flitch when the felt the hand close around his shoulder. Third time now. Daniel nodded as the list of conditions was given. They were a simple set of rules to be followed lest disobedience lead to his death. That was a charming thought.
“Understood,” Daniel confirmed. It was then that an odd feeling consumed his entire frame, almost like falling from a high altitude or into a spring. It was gone almost as quickly as it came and he was told he could relax. He fought down the wave of nausea as his eyes opened. The first thing he noticed was that this was indeed no longer his living room but rather a small diner. Next, he noted that he was seated in a booth rather than standing. Then, he finally caught sight of the familiar woman sitting across from him, which prompted an arching of his eyebrow.
“Maevia?” Daniel asked. Kupiec’s familiar greeting was all the confirmation he needed. Somehow, he wasn’t surprised. The cyborg always did seem to know things that were difficult to come across, but seeing as she seemed to know the Deity sitting next to him made that fact easier to process. He ignored the questions begging for a voice in his head so that he could instead focus on the menu he was passed; they could wait until the hole in his stomach was filled.

[attr="class","biggie"] [attr="class","textie"] REPEAT PERFORMANCE She was no longer in the early stages of her business partnership with Kupiec. They had worked together for years now, and she had grown accustomed to his random appearances; she noticed she was less jumpy altogether for it. So when she felt the familiar change in the air (or perhaps it was only in her mind), she didn’t even look up from the puzzle she twisted with expert precision. She didn’t so much as blink when she heard the familiar voice exclaim her name. To her, it would have been more surprising if she was allowed to enjoy an uninterrupted amount of personal time. “Kupiec,” she stated. She looked up only when she heard a second familiar, but unexpected, voice. She cocked her head slightly. “Ah, Daniel? So you’ve sold your soul, too. Be careful- He’s like a stray cat; once you feed him, he never really goes away.” She flashed the god a smirk before looking down at the puzzle once more. “At least this time you brought me someone I know.” She deliberately avoided the word “trust.” She didn’t trust anyone fully, especially people who worked with Kupiec. Too many secrets, too many unknowns. Sure, Daniel did work for her, and got results, and never made any indication of double-crossing her, but clearly he needed something more than what she was already providing, or he wouldn’t be making deals with deities. In front of her was a short stack of pancakes, half-eaten, and a cup of coffee, barely touched and getting cold. She didn’t forget her recent spat with the god, and she doubted he did either. Clearly he was willing to extend some sort of olive branch to her in the name of business. That was a song both parties understood. “Well, let’s get down to it, then; what’s going on, and what do you need?” ===== Tags: Kupiec | Daniel Caim Notes: Get some new tricks nerd [attr="class","iconie"] [newclass=.biggie]-webkit-transitionduration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover]margin-left:-300px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie]opacity:0;margin-top:-425px;margin-bottom:150px;width:285px;height:400px;padding:10px;background-color:#000000;border:solid 1px #000000;color:#e4e0e0;text-align:justify;overflow:auto;margin-left:10px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;font:11px calibri;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .textie]opacity:1;margin-left:610px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie::-webkit-scrollbar]width:10px;background:#000000;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background:#9589a0;border:2px solid #e4e0e0;[/newclass] [newclass=.iconie]opacity:0;margin-top:-240px;margin-left:-220px;margin-bottom:50px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .iconie]opacity:1;[/newclass] [newclass=.tagsie]opacity:0;font:11px calibri;color:#b7b7b7;margin-top:-75px;margin-left:-75px;margin-bottom:40px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .tagsie]opacity:1;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass]

هل يهمك لعقد صفقة؟
The God turned to the mortal beside Him. Not only had these two met before apparently but they were on first name basis. Huh. That was interesting. The smile would remain as Ku would turn back to Maevia, "To your benefit obviously, my cheeky dove." Indeed, these two were more than familiar with each other. Kupiec had taken to randomly popping into Her home and place of work for the occasional amusement. When a human had managed to play cards with a God, it was fair to say they were on casual grounds. Much how Ku preferred it. He referred to signatured mortals as business partners for a reason.
The girl's smirk would be met with one of His own. Even in the wake of their last conversation, one that had ended rather high in tension, He couldn't help but be inwardly pleased at the seemingly mutual agreement to continue where they had left off. The cyborg's sass was of a variation that He found refreshing and borderline delightful. "Yes I did, didn't I?" The God replied, the translation being left in the air on whether this was purposeful or not.
"Well, Mr Caim here and I have recently closed on a deal." The God used the man's name freely. If Daniel knew Maevia by her first name, it was guaranteed she knew of his. And even on the extremely unlikely chance this was not the case, Ku had brought these two together for a reason. If they hadn't been fully acquainted, they were going to be now. "And by shuffling your pretty little self into the equation, it would assist with making everything run more smoothly in quite a few variances."
"However, you two already have an arrangement." Ku felt confident in stating. If He were wrong it would be waved away by Him claiming that it was Maevia's own fault if she hadn't already arranged an agreement with such a competent man with hunter relations. The usual shuffling of blame onto Mae, you know, the usual. The God would inhale through His nose to continue on with those carefully crafted points only to stop ....
.... and would sniff once again.
Those strangely colored eyes would lower to decipher a single specific scent. It was faint, especially in such an atmosphere. Coffee, mediocre breakfast foods and that damned cigarette smoke veiled it quite heavily but it was still quite distinct. The smell of a deity was not one mortals could wash away easily with some bar of soap. Ku would look back up to meet eye contact with the young woman across the booth. Regardless if either Daniel or Maevia were giving the God was curious look as to the pause He'd "hm" quietly to Himself. Seemed His little Mae had been busy meeting new acquaintances. He couldn't help but wonder if the cyborg was even aware of who she had come into contact with. Those eyes of His would narrow as a single eyebrow rose. "Our arrangement would mostly just be an extension of your current one. More money given monthly that I would of course fund myself. Assistance where you can lend it would be appreciated."
"Mr Caim will be required to answer certain questions in regards to the Hunter's Guild you may find yourself asking being the curious and clever little dove you are. However those are up to his own discretion. Mr Caim is an honorable gentleman that wouldn't misuse the trust being allowed through this arrangement. From his perspective the goal is to minimize the genocidal tendencies the Guild has fallen into, in no way wishing for the Guild's overall downfall. So if the question for instance could be utilized to destroy the Guild in its entirety Mr Caim holds the right to deny an answer."
With this the Deity would turn to smile that business smile to the man beside him. Whether the gaze would be met or if Daniel's attention was solely upon that menu, the God would continue regardless. "Same goes for you. If this young lady asks you a question within those realms of understanding you are to answer. My Mae can get quite a bit done in order to further this cause so you will respectively answer such inquiries. She is being brought in because I prefer to not do everything Myself. I have a planet's worth of mortals that wish for my attention and assistance. This young lady is one of my hands within this country and you will treat her as such. Understand?" The God asked as if a father grilling the prom date of a daughter.

“ YOU'RE GONNA CARRY THAT WEIGHT. Daniel tried not to dwell on the fact that Maevia was casually speaking to a deity as though He were nothing more than an annoyance. The bit comparing Him to a stray cat caused him to arch a brow at the woman across from him before he returned his attention to the menu. Reading off the various meals and looking at the accompanying pictures gave him something to do while he listened to Kupiec speak to Maevia. He’d settled upon a plate of eggs and a few sausage links when he noticed that the God had stopped speaking in favor of sniffing at the air in a manner he recognized.
Something caught His attention and He was trying to decipher what exactly it was. It was a very… human gesture, one that Daniel was guilty of indulging multiple times throughout his life. He let that thought die before it could fully be given life.
The man actually began paying proper attention when Kupiec began describing what would be expected of him. As per the usual, it was nothing that was too far out of the question. He’d happily share information that wouldn’t destroy the Guild. It was an agreeable arrangement and he leveled a careful expression at the God when he felt a pair of unnatural eyes boring into his skull.
“Easy enough,” he agreed. “I ain’t got no intention of crossing either of you. Even I’m not that crazy.” He knew just how deadly a combination a god and an information broker with her dirty little fingers in every pie could be, and he still had the intention of living for a while longer.

[attr="class","biggie"] [attr="class","textie"] SMELLS LIKE... Maevia kept playing with her puzzle, listening intently to Kupiec but not giving any indication she was; the little things to irritate him, y’know? She gave faint nods to indicate that yes, she knew him, and yes, it was fairly obvious that Daniel had struck a deal with the meddlesome deity. She took her cigarette from the ashtray and placed it gently between her lips; strawberry flavored and scented cloves, this time. She took brief stops from her puzzle to gently inhaled the sweet-tasting smoke and exhale it down towards her hands and puzzle. She knew the scent of smoke irked him; small revenge for having yet another rare moment of personal time interrupted. The grin forming on her lips halted. You smell very strongly of Him. What does He do? Drop by every evening to play cards? She looked up from her puzzle just in time to meet his gaze, after a very telling sniff. Her hands stopped. It was safe to assume all deities had similar abilities. She made no expression to him; she was not fearful, nor smug. In fact, she didn’t know Kupiec’s place in all this, but one thing was certain; she would be placing the safety of the goddess above any promises he could make. He was already entwined with Maevia, whether they liked it or not, but Arithelia was not, and she would rather have a grateful goddess in her deck than another favor from Him. In fact, perhaps He could answer some questions for her. After holding his gaze for a moment, she looked back down, and resumed her puzzle. Her grin spread in full as Kupiec continued like a conductor, as if Maevia was some lackey meant to follow his orders. Maybe he was showboating for his new partner, or maybe he thought he had control over her and what she did (but she doubted he was quite that ignorant). She was fine to let him go on and act like the one in control, the manager, the one who Maevia answered to. Let him believe it, let Daniel believe it; she worked better when people assumed she had less power than she did. “Aw, so protective! You do care!” She cooed. The sarcasm dripped thicker than syrup. “This isn’t like our other arrangements; Mr. Caim is a capable individual of whom I am very familiar. Our business has been casual to this date, but…” With one last click, the larger rubik’s cube was finished and slapped on the table with a small but distinct clap. “It seems we’ll be digging deeper together.” She alternated between lazy puffs of her cigarette and lazy forkfuls of her cooling breakfast. She now made eye contact while engaging the two in conversation. “I know you’ve been hesitant to answer questions in the past; most hunters, current and former, are the same. But now under Kupiec’s watch, you should have less to fear from them, including the Huntress herself.” She turned to Kupiec. “That is correct, is it not?” She leaned back in the booth and stared out the window, watching the figures of Dagos in the early morning; criminals going to rest for another night of prowling, smarter businesspeople taking the lull in danger to get to their appointments and jobs. “What I use my information for is my own business- you know this, Kupiec. Truthfully, I rather hate total destruction, so I can agree to not share information granted specifically by Daniel, if I believe the recipient is aiming to cause the guild’s doom. Of course, I can’t always guess how clients will use information.” She turned her gaze back to the two men. “But you didn’t come to me because I was untrustworthy. I understand what you’re saying. Daniel- if I even suspected for a moment you would attempt to betray me, I wouldn’t have had you doing work for me all this time.” Granted, she always suspected betrayal, but to her, he was a low risk. Higher now, that he was dealing with Kupiec, but he was smart enough not to try. She had failsafe after failsafe after failsafe for all angles of betrayal, so even if he did try, it would be a fool’s errand. She turned her gaze at Daniel specifically, and exhaled a small tuft of smoke before grinding the quarter-length cigarette into the ashes. “He is right, though; the more you are willing to share, the more assistance I can be. You know the drill; we trade favors for favors, answers for answers, and sometimes money changes hands. It will just be on a much larger scale than our previous arrangements, and with a third party’s involvement.” ===== Tags: Kupiec | Daniel Caim Notes: best friends forever [attr="class","iconie"] [newclass=.biggie]-webkit-transitionduration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover]margin-left:-300px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie]opacity:0;margin-top:-425px;margin-bottom:150px;width:285px;height:400px;padding:10px;background-color:#000000;border:solid 1px #000000;color:#e4e0e0;text-align:justify;overflow:auto;margin-left:10px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;font:11px calibri;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .textie]opacity:1;margin-left:610px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie::-webkit-scrollbar]width:10px;background:#000000;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background:#9589a0;border:2px solid #e4e0e0;[/newclass] [newclass=.iconie]opacity:0;margin-top:-240px;margin-left:-220px;margin-bottom:50px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .iconie]opacity:1;[/newclass] [newclass=.tagsie]opacity:0;font:11px calibri;color:#b7b7b7;margin-top:-75px;margin-left:-75px;margin-bottom:40px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .tagsie]opacity:1;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass]

هل يهمك لعقد صفقة؟
"That topic has already been discussed." The God answered Maevia's inquiry in regards to the Huntress. If there was one deity Kupiec was not in the mood to go fisty cuffs with, it was Kalidas. That was a breed of crazy bitch that was not enjoyable to deal with when angry. "If Mr Caim makes a juvenile mistake that can be classified as careless or just plain stupid, no. No he can't." Ku stated bluntly. "But if matters fall in an unfavorable path due to outside factors that have nothing to do with Mr Caim's performance, then yes. I'll step in at that point."
Kupiec turned to glance out into the restaurant. Seemed his rook Daniel had decided on what he wanted so now all that was needed was to wave down the waitress dear. When He saw the sweet girl was busying herself with taking orders for another table the Deity grinned softly. A deity having to wait for mortals to be serviced first. An amusing idea if anything. Ku resigned Himself to fold His hands upon the table. The epitome of patience.
“What I use my information for is my own business- you know this, Kupiec."
That one managed to peek the hint of an amused grin. Most mortals like Maevia He had dealt with in the past had gone through periods such as this. He didn't mind the confidence or overly collected self assurance. Most of them eventually sobered and humbled up after a rude awakening of some sort that reminded them of their place. A reminder of their mortality and the God's higher throne. It was a cycle of life. Kalidas was still one to quickly obliterate such ignorance, Ku was not. Life came in seasons. There was no need to rush the fall season, was there? The colors were pretty after all.
The waitress nodded as who she spoke to changed their mind for what appeared the fourth time on what they wanted. "My being right about something? I'm shocked." Ku replied light in volume, heavy in sarcasm and amusement. Finally, all the God had to do was smile in the girl's way and over she came.
"Ready to order?"
"Yes, I believe so, dear." Kupiec would glance over to the particular Daniel sitting beside Him and waited for the mortal to order what he wished. Afterwards the waitress would inquire of Maevia if she wished for anything else herself. Perhaps a topping off of her coffee? Last she would smile brightly at the appeared Surajan native. "No thank you, dear. I'm not hungry but I appreciate your inquiry." Before the waitress could express a nudge that perhaps the man at least wanted a dessert Ku was handing the waitress back her menu from in front of Daniel. "That's all. Thank you." A kind smile following would send the girl nodding and away-ing off to put in the order(s).

“ YOU'RE GONNA CARRY THAT WEIGHT. “Thanks for the vote of confidence,” Daniel said. “I’ve done odd jobs for you long enough for you ta know I ain’t gonna toss ya under the bus. You’ve done right by me, and I trust you enough ta do the same.” Truthfully, he didn’t expect very much from the spider dress as a woman before him. He’d always suspected that she barely trusted him in any regard, if at all. But she was the best source of information and paying jobs he’d had over the years, and she never asked him to do anything he wasn’t willing to; she was even respectful enough to let things be as far as the Guild went, which had to count for something.
“I’ll give you whatever you want if it’ll get the Guild back on track. I still got some contacts in the ranks, so I might be able ta get ya something good every once in a while.” He scratched the scar running across the bride of his nose. It was a personal tick of sorts for when was deep in thought, one that exhibited itself regularly when he dealt with the information broker or one of her many agents. After all, it was almost a requirement to be wary of what he let slip around her.
He turned his attention to the God sitting next to him. “And I ain’t got any intention of causin’ You any trouble. I still appreciate the thought, but I know how to handle myself well enough.” The waitress returned and looked at everyone present expectantly. He told the woman what he wanted: fried eggs with three sausage links and a side of hash browns. After she moved away, he took out his own pack of cigarettes (nothing fancy like the one Maevia smoked).
“Ya wouldn’t mind if I smoked would ya?”

[attr="class","biggie"] [attr="class","textie"] JUST BUSINESS Maevia nodded along. “If he makes a stupid mistake with such an objective, he can kiss my support goodbye, as well.” She looked at the retired hunter and offered him a shrug. “If He can’t save you, then I probably can’t, either. More likely I won’t; I don’t throw my agents under the bus, Mr. Caim- it’s one of the secrets to my success. But you are one agent with a very risky goal, and I will not put my well-being nor my network’s future on the line for you. That’s how it’s always been, and will continue to be.” She doubted the words would come as a surprise to either party. She was always transparent with the fact that she could help so long as it posed no direct risk to her or her web. It was better to get terms out in the open before any agreements were made; both parties would come across fewer surprises, clear boundaries were established, and miscommunications were a rarity. She idly picked at her food some more as they spoke, and tapped her bionic finger on the table. “Contacts are good,” she said, more to herself than to Daniel. “You’ll need to get me everything you can if you want to have a chance at … straightening out the organization.” Her words were chosen carefully. Truthfully, she could not remember a time the hunters were on any sort of honorable track, as that must have been before her own lifetime. Before the camps, maybe, but she only had old documents and anecdotes to go on as far as their history; even that was before Daniel. She wasn’t sure if his idea of “the right path” was the same as hers, but it seemed like an improvement nonetheless. She knew enough to say that the hunters were hard to control in their current state. Not that it mattered; business was business. “You’ll get equal exchange in return, of course,” she said. “They may have fallen more astray than you know; you’re undertaking quite the mission, Daniel. But the terms are agreeable as far as my assistance.” She was silent as soon as the waitress was in earshot, and wouldn’t say anything until she departed. She breathed a short “heh” at Daniel’s question. “I don’t. And our mutual friend here simply adores the smell of smoke. Right, Kupi?” ===== Tags: Kupiec | Daniel Caim Notes: thaaat's business for you [attr="class","iconie"] [newclass=.biggie]-webkit-transitionduration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover]margin-left:-300px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie]opacity:0;margin-top:-425px;margin-bottom:150px;width:285px;height:400px;padding:10px;background-color:#000000;border:solid 1px #000000;color:#e4e0e0;text-align:justify;overflow:auto;margin-left:10px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;font:11px calibri;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .textie]opacity:1;margin-left:610px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie::-webkit-scrollbar]width:10px;background:#000000;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background:#9589a0;border:2px solid #e4e0e0;[/newclass] [newclass=.iconie]opacity:0;margin-top:-240px;margin-left:-220px;margin-bottom:50px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .iconie]opacity:1;[/newclass] [newclass=.tagsie]opacity:0;font:11px calibri;color:#b7b7b7;margin-top:-75px;margin-left:-75px;margin-bottom:40px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .tagsie]opacity:1;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass]

هل يهمك لعقد صفقة؟
Ku's strangely colored eyes would have remained watching the waitress girl flutter about to put in their order. Nothing predatory could be caught on according to His resting facial expression. It proved to be more of a genuine spacing out, thoughts traveling else where and merely a finding of the self staring at a spinning top. It wasn't until a particular question would be inquired of that His eyes closed. Wait for it. "Heh." Ah, there it was. The snarky ass remark that was destined to come into play.
The slow turn would have been answer enough to anyone watching on. A deadpan facial expression would comically accent the unenthused tone of voice that would follow next. "You little shit." Kupiec would say in His native tongue of the Olden Language. Gods indeed were not all knowing and would assume neither party knew of the words He spoke. If Maevia had never made it a point to share Her cyborg upgrade with Him, the topic would not have been brought up by Himself either. Such a skill had not come up in their dealings together as of yet. It would be nice to know, but alas He would not at this time.
Turning His head further to speak to the newcoming human beside Him Kupiec would crack a small grin. "She's being cheeky. I would prefer you don't." With that the God would turn that grin to the young lady across the table. "On that topic I don't understand why you mortals do that to yourselves in the first place and probably never will. Not only do you smell atrocious during and afterwards, you're willingly injecting yourselves with thousands of toxins, repeatedly." The God shrugged His shoulders with a dismissive sigh, silly silly mortals. "But I suppose if you kill yourselves early this life you have the next--"
The God paused in mid sentece to stare blankly into seemingly nothingness as those eyes of His shimmered in a showcasing of every color known to mankind. "......" Eventually the God would blink and would smile to the two mortals He had left "hanging" as the slang demanded it be called nowadays apparently. "Well I must be off." The Deity reached into an inner breast pocket within His suit jacket to pull out a wallet that probably had a whole story behind it jus like everything else. "This one is rather time sensitive so I can't go through the usual etiquette in leaving early."
Unfolding the item Kupiec pulled out a couple hundred dollar bills and set them on the table. "Been rather efficient and pleasant. Leave the girl whatever's remaining for a tip." Turning to Daniel while tucking the wallet back into its home the God would continue, "And say My name when you're ready to go back home. I'm not going to force you to travel all the way back. Understand? Good." The Deity wouldn't wait. With a smile Kupiec would disappear, off to conduct business with a Magi boy who didn't want his friends to pass away from the hunters that were firing upon them.

“ YOU'RE GONNA CARRY THAT WEIGHT. Daniel made a sound that could’ve been a laugh or a grunt of affirmation; perhaps it was both. Ever the cautious little spider Mae was. Always glad to hand out information and the odd bit of support so long as she wasn’t required to get her hands dirty. After all, that’s what her agents were for. He couldn’t blame her though. Even the slightest misstep would probably end with a great number of bodies piled high like a mountain of rotting meat; one of them was almost guaranteed to be his and he didn’t have time to die, because he had too much to do.
“You don’t have ta tell me how risky it is,” Daniel agreed. “I’ve made peace with the idea that my mistakes are my own.” Still, it was interesting to hear her refer to him as an agent. He’d been operating under the impression that he was just a hired gun she sometimes found a use for. He expected he was, but this changed things greatly. If what little he actually knew about her was correct, Maevia just wanted to keep a closer I on him and his activities. At least it meant she was even less likely to sell him out.
“Believe me, Mae, I know.” He was about to put his cigarettes way when he heard Kupiec speak again (something about a time sensitive matter). He nodded his understanding right as the God disappeared. Daniel extracted a cigarette and his lighter. Seconds later he was huffing a cloud of smoke into the air with a content sigh.
“By the way, I’ve got somethin’ I want ya to look into for me.” He took another puff and exhaled before continuing, glad that the headache that was working its way into his skull was subsiding. “I recently got wind that my mom is still alive. I’ll spare you the weirdness, but it looks like she didn’t leave me for the wolves like I thought. And it looks like dear old dad had some secrets too. Ya know, the kind that gets ya capped in the face.
“Anyway, it’d be real helpful if ya could find out what really happened. Names and such and why it looks like some hunters were involved. And I’d like it if ya find my mom too.”

[attr="class","biggie"] [attr="class","textie"] PERSONAL MATTERS She smirked at his curse in the olden language. She said nothing, though; that was stored for another time. He didn’t know she spoke it, and that was a card she’d prefer to hold onto, for a small time. She made a point to dramatically roll her eyes at his little speech. Blah blah blah, always the same. Instead she focused on Daniel. He was a man who owned his mistakes, a man of principle; in short, a man she could trust not to stab her in the back, so long as she kept to the deal. Heh. That’s how she preferred things; all the rising and falling information brokers meet their end because they try to be sneaky, greedy, or hasty. It only takes one failed assassination, one crossed contact, one broken promise… and sooner or later, they’d be compromised, hunted down, and either killed or driven off into obscurity or some worse fate. She waved the god off as He dropped his money and disappeared. At least He was polite about his unannounced intrusions. With a mouthful of cold pancake, she looked up at Daniel. Something else? She pulled out her pack of cigarettes, slapped it against her hand a few times, and withdrew another clove. She lit it and exhaled freely, without any comments from the peanut gallery. “I’m nothing if not used to weirdness,” she said, nodded over at the now empty seat next to the man. “Your mother? Hm…” Another missing person’s case. Elijah, Fey, and now Daniel… Well, she was the right person to come to, at least. He’d never mentioned his parents, and some standard sleuthing when she first was contacted by him revealed that the father was dead and the mother was… assumed dead. She didn’t need to ask how he knew; anyone who dealt with Kupiec was bound to be full of surprises. “I can do that. As usual, no promises; is this a time sensitive matter?” Always good to know details before making agreements, after all. She rolled the sleeve of her hoodie up to reveal her exposed cybernetic arm. She tapped a few times on the screen, twitched a few times with her robotic fingers, and nodded to Daniel, with her finger hovering over the screen. “Tell me about them. As much as you can. I’d like to record this for later, with your permission.” ===== Tags: Daniel Caim Notes: - [attr="class","iconie"] [newclass=.biggie]-webkit-transitionduration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover]margin-left:-300px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie]opacity:0;margin-top:-425px;margin-bottom:150px;width:285px;height:400px;padding:10px;background-color:#000000;border:solid 1px #000000;color:#e4e0e0;text-align:justify;overflow:auto;margin-left:10px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;font:11px calibri;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .textie]opacity:1;margin-left:610px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie::-webkit-scrollbar]width:10px;background:#000000;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background:#9589a0;border:2px solid #e4e0e0;[/newclass] [newclass=.iconie]opacity:0;margin-top:-240px;margin-left:-220px;margin-bottom:50px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .iconie]opacity:1;[/newclass] [newclass=.tagsie]opacity:0;font:11px calibri;color:#b7b7b7;margin-top:-75px;margin-left:-75px;margin-bottom:40px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .tagsie]opacity:1;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass]

“ YOU'RE GONNA CARRY THAT WEIGHT. “Heh, I guess that’s true, huh?” Daniel mused. He gave a nod when Maevia asked him to describe his family. “Hey, you’re the info broker here; I’m just a guy with a big gun. You tell me you need somethin’ and I’ll do what I need ta get it for ya.”
He paused to take another puff from his cigarette before continuing. “Well, guess I’ll start with my pops then. He was… well, the man never made any excuses for anything, I’ll give ‘em that much. If ya made a mistake, you sure as hell owned up to it. Never was around much though. Hard to raise a kid and work one dead end job after the next to pay the bills. He did right by me and ma though. Least that’s what I always thought.” The memory of his experience in the dream realm came rushing to the surface as the waitress returned with his order, though she did seem disappointed with the fact that Kupiec was gone now. Her mood did brighten considerably when Daniel handed her the two hundred dollar bills and assured her that she could keep every cent for herself. Daniel tucked into his food as she all but pranced away.
“Mom was better about bein’ around,” he said between mouthfuls. “She still had ta work her ass off of course. Raisin’ a kid ain’t cheap, ya know. But she still read to me every night and made sure I was fed.” He paused with a smile that was… what? Sad? Regretful? Something else entirely? “Then, she just up and left. ‘Course with both parents gone, guess who got saddled with all the debt?”
A thumbed rose up to indicate the scarred old wolf. “This guy.” He took another bite of food, chewing and swallowing before going on. “Never figured out why she did that. She looked sad when dad passed, but she always gave me the time of day when she could.
“I thought she just said ‘fuck it all’ and abandoned me. Now? Now, I ain’t so sure.”

[attr="class","biggie"] [attr="class","textie"] NEW TASKS She puffed on her cigarette as she listened to him. Personal stuff, but all of it recorded and filed away in her brain (as well as the device). It was all telling of their personalities, though, and Daniel’s as well; the way he spoke about them gave her some insight on how he viewed them. Hmm. Debt was an obvious motivator for Daniel, or at least the start of it. Odd jobs paid well, especially from her, so that wasn’t ever really in doubt. And now he isn’t sure she left him… normally, she’d call that false hope, but from him? And with Kupiec’s involvement? No, there was something to this. “Trust that doubt,” she said after a long exhale. “Especially if you’re involved with Him. It’ll keep you on the right path. Everyone has an agenda after all; mine is repaying favors owed. After all, I still owe you for retrieving a missing child from the mountains. That’s enough for me to spend some time looking into this for you.” She ground her cigarette into the ashtray. “That’s a good start, at least. But do you have anything more concrete? When she left? When your father died? Dates, names, anything big or small. Not off the top of your head, of course, but the more you can send me on them, the better chance I’ll find a lead on your mother’s current whereabouts.” She gave him a small shrug. “I’m an information broker, not a detective. And the thing with missing people is that they don’t usually want to be found. The difference between me and the police is simply that I always find them.” She pushed her plate away slightly to indicate she was done with the meal. “When I find anything, you’ll be informed. Until then, it’s business as usual. Or unusual, as always seems to be the case with my job. It seems I have some things to look into.” ===== Tags: Daniel Caim Notes: Finally here you go [attr="class","iconie"] [newclass=.biggie]-webkit-transitionduration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover]margin-left:-300px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie]opacity:0;margin-top:-425px;margin-bottom:150px;width:285px;height:400px;padding:10px;background-color:#000000;border:solid 1px #000000;color:#e4e0e0;text-align:justify;overflow:auto;margin-left:10px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;font:11px calibri;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .textie]opacity:1;margin-left:610px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie::-webkit-scrollbar]width:10px;background:#000000;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background:#9589a0;border:2px solid #e4e0e0;[/newclass] [newclass=.iconie]opacity:0;margin-top:-240px;margin-left:-220px;margin-bottom:50px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .iconie]opacity:1;[/newclass] [newclass=.tagsie]opacity:0;font:11px calibri;color:#b7b7b7;margin-top:-75px;margin-left:-75px;margin-bottom:40px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .tagsie]opacity:1;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass]
