Sweet Mother of Nature and Magic, We gather to offer you tribute. Rows of lanterns lined the pathway that led to the white stone staircase of Arithelia's Grand Temple. Arrayed in all colors of the rainbow, the flames danced in their glass containers among trees, reflected by the still pond that lined the path on either side. Water lilies rested on the surface of the water as fish of many sizes and colors circled beneath. The Priests had spent months preparing for the ceremonies, and it showed in the variety of flowers and shrubs that had been planted in the soft earth, but more in the sheer number of Magi that had gathered in the interior of the temple.
Among the dozens of statues of Arithelia, Priests walked back and forth with baskets of fruit or flowers or bundles of incense, in preparation for the ceremonies. They stood out, if only for their unique robes, which set them apart from the more modern clothing that was more common to the visitors. While some seemed annoyed to have such a crowded temple, there was a sort of excited energy among most of them, and they answered the questions of the visitors with a level of enthusiasm that wasn't usually found in such a setting. Finally, they seemed to think, the goddess was getting the kind of reverence that she deserved.
There were no chairs or benches inside of the temple, only an altar and open space, where Magi went back and forth between the statues. A different Priest manned each representation of the goddess, answering questions about whatever aspect the statue represented, whether it was her kindness, her creativity, or her tie to the natural world. Magi pilgrims placed their tributes and offerings at the feet of the largest statue, which sat near the back of the Temple.
Despite the crowd, the interior of the Temple remained respectfully quiet, with everyone speaking in lowered voices. Soon, the larger ceremonies would begin, and no one wanted to be thrown out before the service started.
This is post not only gives a brief description of the scenery but also acts as the starter for all general threads. With this event being a free for all social activity this is where are all posts will be made unless you begin a lengthier scene between certain characters. That way you're not going to have to dig as much until you find the post that you're wishing to respond to.

| I AM NOT MERCIFUL I AM NOT KIND I AM NOT AFRAID TO MAKE YOU WISH THAT I WAS Caroline had broken away from Lelianna, citing that she needed to visit the temple… alone. At least for a little time. Surely Lelianna would come at her own leisure, but for now, Caroline had… something to do. With her hood up and shadowing her face, and her poncho/cloak concealing the rest of her, she moved through the throngs of magi. Only a few careless, loose strands of purple hair poked out from under her hood and flowed back as she walked. The awe she felt when first arriving at the city had not faded in the slightest. There were so many magi, so many different-looking people all… enjoying themselves. Gods, they were so human, how could she have killed them so callously? Children rushed past, nearly running into her as they chattered about playing games, their parents powerwalking to keep up. The sight made her smile, but also sank her stomach. Gods, she would have killed them if that thing was still in her head. She took an unnecessary breath. She wasn’t like that anymore, she told herself. She couldn’t undo deaths, but she could try to do better going forward. She couldn’t believe Haven existed, but she was currently walking its path. It was so… large! And not only that, but it was beautiful. Her steps slowed as she approached the temple. The water, the lilies, the fish… it was so serene, even in the midst of such a large gathering of people. It reminded her of Lelianna’s flower field. She hesitated to step into the temple proper, but she didn’t come this far just to back away. The crowd was a comfort now, but that would not save her from the priests. She expected them to eye her strangely, or to berate her for her ignorance about Arithelia. Instead… each one she approached seemed happy to inform her, and their enthusiasm was likely amplified by how thoroughly she listened. The goddess seemed… very gentle. Very kind. And given her experiences with magi since her freedom? She could believe it. She had a question to ask aloud, to a priestess, and perhaps overheard by anyone who was in the general area, be they civilian or priest. “Does Arithelia’s kindness extend to forgiveness, even for those who do not deserve it? Are there individuals beyond her love? Beyond redemption?” |

"I'm no priest but I would assume there are some beyond redemption. Monsters lacking remorse and slaughter innocents without purpose or a thought. Many of the hunters come to mind as some in their numbers would slay even a Magi child without a second thought just because their foul goddess demands it." Yasker said as he passed the woman at the entrance before turning around to face her.
As expected of a representative of Romundia, Yasker was dressed quite elegantly in a two-piece suit that consisted of baggy loose pants and a vest that left his arms and most of his chest visible underneath. It was traditional Surajian garb with the addition of proudly displaying his family crest and his Magi heritage through unique means. Almost all of the vest was encrusted in gems, expertly done in such a way that it didn't come off as gaudy but rather a testament to his heritage as an Earth Magi. The first layer of the vest was all obsidian, done as if to imitate the overlaying black scales of a fearsome dragon; then rubies were implanted on top of the obsidian, forming intricate and symmetrical patterns that led the eyes on a journey that inevitably led to the Romundian crest that lay right over Yasker's heart. The red over black did much to compliment the natural red glowing lines and marks that existed on Yasker's body, but even extended to the same black statue with red eyes that he held in one hand and the obsidian chalice full of wine in the other.
But the very fact that you are here, Magi or not makes me think that you are not beyond forgiveness as does your own pontification of the matter." Giving the woman a small smile as his hands held the tribute statue of Arithelia tightly. "Whether you deserve it or not is another issue and not one I should speak on, but if you are here among Magi and helping them survive, then you are on the right side and that, should count for something. Yasker Romundia, by the way." Giving her a small nod of the head since his hands were full so he couldn't shake her hand.
"You shouldn't dwell on such thoughts though; today is a day for celebration and remembrance, not reflection on the state of our souls. Care for a drink?" Extending his hand and goblet in a gesture of camaraderie. "It's just simple wine. Might help sooth your nerves and thoughts."

Notes Welp. Y'all know the drill. Open post. That's how the events work. Even... even if it doesn't always go amicably <_<
| I AM NOT MERCIFUL I AM NOT KIND I AM NOT AFRAID TO MAKE YOU WISH THAT I WAS Her eye narrowed instinctively at the voice, and she turned her head slightly towards the source. He was well-dressed and spoke with the elegant confidence of a politician; her fist curled instinctively, but relaxed just as quickly. He was not wrong about hunters; they were monsters, many of them. Some were fanatics, and others were just cruel-hearted and power-hungry. She did not fully turn to face him, and instead looked back at the statue she stood before. “You assume much, Yasker Romundia,” she stated in her old officer’s tone: even and firm, with a warning that she was not a patient woman. She crossed her arms in front of her chest; she had no intention of shaking his hand even if he did offer. Perhaps it was how he spoke, or what he said, that kept her distant and short. It wouldn’t offend her if she truly was beyond forgiveness; nobody thought she deserved it less than she did. She’d rather hear it from a priest, though, instead of someone who reminded her of the politicians back in Felici. You shouldn’t dwell. No, she was done with people telling her what was best for her. Last time that happened, she ended up brainwashed. “This is a temple. I am here to learn, and to think,” she said. “And also to speak with the priests. The celebrations are more vibrant outside; perhaps you will find someone to drink with there.” She nodded to the priest, and thanked him for his time. He still wasn’t sure what to say to the conversation, but Caroline would relieve him of the awkward situation soon. She stepped past the magi and paused for a brief moment. “If you’ll excuse me.” She would then walk towards another faithful one, easily identified by their robes. She tried to clear any irritation from her barely-visible face. Monsters. Yes, she was a monster, like them. Whether he thought she was beyond saving or not was irrelevant; he did not know her story, nor did anyone else here. The goddess would be the one to decide that. |

There's FIRE Dancing in my veins tonight, do you see it in my eyes tonight? Arithelia. Taran's primary reason for being here was for her goddess. The party was fun and all, but the worship was the center and the most important to her. Today she was in her male form, and as she stood in front of the temple's statue for kindness, she smiled and put her hands together peacefully. She felt sort of ridiculous worshipping in a 'kindness is magic' tank, but it expressed everything she believed in, and what Arithelia stood for. Really not that unusual, right? It fit in a BIT, right?
No. No it didn't. But whatever. Anyone who thought she wasn't dressed right for the temple could go screw themselves. Probably the only action their uptight selves would get. She bowed her head and sent up a silent prayer thanking Arithelia for the kindness of giving her magic. Because Taran really did think of magic as a blessing. It had helped her get out of a rough situation. Once she finished, she brought her head back up from the bow and moved on to the main statue. The temple really was grand. And with so many people there for the festival, it really made Taran happy to see her goddess Arithelia given the respect she deserved. She knelt in front of the statue on one knee, placing a metal lighter with a flame etched on the side. She'd brought it specially to leave as an offering. Her element was fire, so any offerings she left always had something to do with her element. Taran smiled to herself before standing and bowing deeply. She was so happy this temple was well kept and well loved. The one in Dagos had made her feel very sad for her goddess.
All the people around made her happy to see too. Every one of these magi believed, and were paying their respects to the goddess who gave them their magic! It was amazing to see! Taran's tail wagged back and forth, her ears perked up happily. That was another thing she always enjoyed about the forest of Arecia. She didn't have to hide her traits!

After all the excitement of the musicians and meeting in the meadows, Luca had decided to wander elsewhere, toward quieter parts of the festival. As most other areas were also bustling with loud, exuberant activity, this trek inevitably led him toward the grand temple of Arithelia. He didn’t particularly mind this, though— one way or another, he would have stopped to visit, to pray and pay his respects.
Even though he had been here a few times before by now, the sight of the place still managed to dazzle the young magi, especially now that it was all decorated for the festival ceremonies, and full of so many priests and other worshippers. For a good, long while, Luca simply wandered the place in quiet awe, taking in all he could from the fish-filled ponds and shimmering lights, to the towering statues and bustling priests inside the temple itself. Not for the first time, he wished his family could have been there with him, but he took heart in the fact that he at least had the little moth magi to enjoy the festivities with, along with a good number of other friends.
Eventually, his wandering took him toward the heart of the temple, where the largest statue of the goddess of magic stood. The crowd was a bit more concentrated here, with many leaving offerings and prayers, and for a moment, clutching the simple bundle of incense he’d managed to get his hands on, the zero magi hesitated to approach. Then, tail swishing nervously behind him, Luca edged forward to place and light the incense, lingering to bow his head in a quiet prayer of thanks.

At the edge of the light of the place, Bjarga would be found meditating. Ever since Althea Santos had found her before the doors of the grand temple, and helped nurse her to something resembling health, she'd been distant. Where before she'd been exuberant, now she seemed detached. She'd discarded the mesh, ribbons, and "shinies", and now wore her monk's robes properly. Most of her day was spent in meditation, contemplating Arithelia, the state of the world, balance, and her part in all of it. She'd found her energies were in disarray, so spent many long hours chanting in various tones to attempt to correct them. She wondered if the use of lightning to blame, but she was no fool. She'd suffered a great deal in this journey, and it had taken its toll on her body, mind, and spirit. Now she was dedicated to restoring her health, and reflecting on the pearls of wisdom this journey had granted her. Fasting and self-sacrifice had not revealed Arithelia to her. Perhaps in caring for her own life, not just the lives of others, she might better reflect the goddess'es wishes for her. Despite the festivities, she remained distant. She'd fasted since the day before in preparation for the feast she intended to enjoy with any who would celebrate the festival with her in the way she'd always observed it. If no one else approached her, she'd wait patiently for @mil. She had promised her a feast, and to show at least one person in this place how the Festival was celebrated in her monastery home in Strun was something she desired greatly. She knew she could never return, but it was still home to her, and she missed it dearly.

Aries would enter the temple, find a secluded section of it to sit in, and reflect upon her past. She only came here because of Serena. She didn't know why. Serena had been dead for years. However, she was always filled with guilt whenever she didn't go, as if she could feel Serena's silent disappointment at her absence still. However, it was not devotion she felt towards Arithelia, but bitterness. While she said nothing aloud, inside her prayers were anything but reverent. "Arithelia. Goddess who made me, and Serena, and Elijah, and all the rest of those who attend this place. You must be so proud of us. We're powerful. We're diverse. We're beautiful. Yes, we, your people, are great, but what about you? Where were you all my childhood when I was abused and starving? When I was taken to the camps? Where were you the day Serena died!?!"She would not cry. She was good at this game. She'd played it many years of her life. She would not lose to Arithelia. Serena had loved her, trusted her, and given complete devotion, yet where had Arithelia been? Absent. Neglectful. Uncaring. She was not worthy of this. No. This festival, as far as Aries was concerned, was here to honor Serena's memory. Serena was the closest thing she'd ever known to the divine. As far as she was concerned, Arithelia was nothing. No. Other deities had her attention now. She had no love for them, but they had the potential to be useful to her. Kupiec could make her a deal for the one thing she desired in life, and Nevyne was said to be able to grant abilities that might allow her to undo Arithelia's failure. Still Aries knew it was probably legend, and perhaps Elijah Kingsley was right to believe the idea of them was silly. On the outside, she'd appear to be sitting silently in solitude, partaking in silent reverence. For those sensitive to the emotions of others, however, it would be clear that she did not wish to be disturbed.

Me and my elastic heart [attr="class","rise"] [attr="class","dying1"] [attr="class","mouths1"] Moving too and fro was what Kaveri was doing as he was unable to remain at one station like the rest of the priest and priestess of the area. He was busy with keeping everything going smoothly and helped bring in what seemed to be a never ending supply of baskets of fruit. He placed one in each proper area and returned for the next load and the next. Eventually, everything was fully laid out or as best as he could manage before he had to take a small break. Putting his hands on his small hips he let out a breath of air next to a statue. Gazing around, he took note of all the happy faces, the children pointing and asking questions much like their parents. The flower arrangements looked wonderful, in fact the whole temple was decked out so brilliantly he was almost positive the Goddess herself would grace their presence to see all of their hard work. He held a large amount of pride for everyone involved and for the others that roamed the temple. He couldn’t remember seeing so many magi gathered in one place to this extent. Though, as much as he was thrilled for this day he held some concern in the back of his mind towards a particular human. He hoped that particular person would be all right without him for one day and didn’t do anything silly. Shaking his head he returned to his work with moving towards the flower baskets, which seemed to be the last bit of to do for the ceremony. Arranging the flowers near one of the many statues he took notice of Taran. Smiling, he offered his friend a friendly wave but was unsure if she had taken notice of him or not, oh well, he would just have to greet her soon. Turning his head to the left and then towards the right he took note of the guest and of the goat looking woman with rather---puffy hair. He had remembered seeing her before as well, but usually around Elijah off and on. Smiling still, he looked up towards the statue he stood before and offered his own silent and rather personal quick prayer. Once he was finished he figured it was time to continue on with his work as well as answer anyone’s questions. | [attr="class","Marshmallow"] They had been at the festival for a while and Lilith had told Drew she wanted to go find Kaveri. He had told her to check the temple and she looked at the magnificence of it with wide, amber eyes. Drew had let her go, which had surprised her, but she figured he would follow along shortly to find their mutual friend. She slowly stepped up the steps, smiling at how beautiful everything was. The flowers were amazing, the lanterns..everything. The red head smiled, her hand touching her belly gently. She was hoping that when their child was born, her and Drew would be able to come back and show him this. She looked down. Jeeze she was getting big.
The thought made her smile as she made her way into the temple, her eyes scanning the priests looking for a certain rainbow priest. She inquired of a few different priests and soon felt like she was going in circles. "Ugh! Why can't you just stay in one place, Kavi!?" Lilith was breathing heavy, feeling the fatigue from dancing earlier and moved over to another section of the temple. They were holding tours and it was crowded but her eyes soon caught a glimpse of a certain rainbow magi. She grinned. "Found you!" She breathed to herself, pushing through the crowds. It was very respectful and everyone was speaking in hushed tones, she bit her lip to keep from calling out.
Maybe she should just surprise him. He started moving away after staring at a statue and she quickly moved, her flats that she was forced to wear from the pregnancy, silent against the floor. Once she got close enough, she reached out her hands. "Kaveri~~~" She jumped, aiming to land on his back and wrap her arms around his neck. "I found you~~" She grinned.

She had not ever been around this many magi at once she did not think, at least not ones that were quiet so lively. She had lost track of Bjarga in the mass of people and wondered if the squirrel had found somewhere to hunker down at as well. Probably not. She was most likely out asking all of these people where an Arithelia was. That did seem to be the topic of conversation.
Mil picked her way through the busy building, sticking close to walls and trying to stay out of everyone's way. She felt out of place here, covered in dirt and in patched clothes. She paused in a quiet corner for a moment and looked down at her over sized hoodie. Mil drew her hand down over it pulling away all of the dirt from the fabric of her hoodie. She did the same thing for her hair, fur and skirt. Mil tucked the dirt into her hoodie pocket for later.
Her hair now shown a soft cream white, as did her fur. The edges of her skirt were still water stained, and there was nothing she could do about the patches without matching fabric, which she doubted she could find. Still, she matched the people here better without the dirt. She stepped back into the hallway and began looking for Bjarga. She would feel much safer with her friend somewhere nearby. She followed the crowd to the more open interior, trying to pick out her friend from the crowd.

People. There are soo many people. his mind protested. In crowded areas like this it wouldn’t be uncommon to be bumped or rubbed randomly. Though it wasn’t a problem. Both parties would apologize with a smile and continue on their way. Such as was with Kai. Though he had to admit, it was rather tempting to drag someone into a corner and rip them apart piece by piece. “Oh dear.” He whispered to himself, a slick grin gracing his boyish features. Quickly he suppressed the violent thought, for those Zero magi with skill in those mental magics. But honestly, any person on their best behavior for years at a time would be bound to pick up some kind of violent impulse. It made sense. At least to Kai.
If it weren’t for the massive amount of people here the temple might actually be pleasant. The children, despite the obvious crowd, weaved in between people without causing to much trouble. He could see one of the priests, a blonde man, snuggling, out of the corner of his eye. Another blonde regally dressed in some kind of black cloak, or could that be wings? You could never tell with magi. Through the eyes of another Kai could be seen off in the corner watching the entire scene unfold. He smiled sadly when a pair of reptilian magi children left their offerings on the shrine. “Lucky, those two.” Jonathan had declined Kai’s demand that they both come for the celebration, although Kai had been persistent in his persuasion attempts Jonathan was unyielding. And so the fox magi had come to Haven on his own. Although Kai was still thrilled to actually be, here. To visit, quite possibly, the biggest temple dedicated to his favored goddess. There was definitely a feeling of loneliness that overshadowed the trip.
When Kai forced himself forward after half an hour of waiting. He pulled out a small bouquet of vermilion and violet flowers, laying them atop a pile of similar floral offerings. Collapsing his hands together he offered a prayer. One for Jonathan: To help him push through his problems. One for Elaine: That she is doing well, wherever, she might be… For his parents, that they’re fine. And lastly, one for him, in that he would always be able to help others. A childish desire, but his only true one. With one last bow Kai stepped aside for the next wave of pilgrims, and keeping an eye out for anything to brighten the day, walked toward the next shrine.

Other magi came and went while he prayed, but Luca did what he could not to disturb them, keeping his voice down as best he could, and shifting out of the way so they could make their own offerings and prayers. But for once, if only briefly, the press of the crowd did not leave him as uneasy as usual, and by the time he had finished, he felt an odd sense of peace amidst all these strangers. A sense of belonging. Eventually, though, he did have to move on, and so when he thought he had said the last of his piece, Luca gave a final, short bow before the statue of Arithelia and turned away. Murmuring the occasional apology or “excuse me”, the zero magi began making his way away from the centerpiece of the temple, doing as best he could to avoid brushing against or bumping into anyone. For the most part he was successful, and managed to make his way from the thickest portion of the crowd with little incident. Once he had a bit more space to himself, he let his eyes wander again, trailing this time over the others gathered within the grand space. As a small group shifted out of the way, he spotted the familiar head of rainbow-hued hair belonging to the priest who had overseen Drew and Lilith’s wedding— the latter of whom appeared to be trying to sneak up on him. Smiling faintly, Luca gave the pair a small wave, although he wasn’t sure whether either noticed, and would keep walking unless approached or called over. In that brief moment of distraction, though, Luca managed to collide with another visitor. Squeaking in surprise, he stumbled back a few steps, cheeks turning pink with embarrassment. “S-sorry,” he said to the cloaked stranger, raising his hands in a placating gesture, even though such might not be needed. “I was, um… Wasn’t looking were I was going, heh…” He cleared his throat quietly, glancing away. “Sorry.”Lilith Schultz Kaveri Dali Caroline Vorlan (I… tried. orz)

| I AM NOT MERCIFUL I AM NOT KIND I AM NOT AFRAID TO MAKE YOU WISH THAT I WAS Caroline stood quietly amid all the magi in the temple. Her first encounter so far had not been a pleasant one; she had left before the priest could even answer her question, as they were also stunned by the sudden intrusion. She left Felici, left her life, so people who barely knew her would stop telling her what was best, what she was doing, what she should do… she was hoping for a generic answer, not a personal callout. Did the man know she wasn’t a magi? He certainly spoke like he did, and that… was not a comforting thought. Though she did get carried away in the games area with Lelianna, so it was entirely possible someone noticed. Lost in her thoughts, she did not notice her slow movements carried her in the middle of the area, and only realized when someone bumped into her. Her body didn’t move from the force as much as it did from the shock. She took a few steps back and raised her hands, palms forward. “No, I apologize, it was my fault entirel…uca?” Her eye went wide. She pulled her hood forward over her head, but there was no way he didn’t recognize her. Her voice lowered to a whisper. “Shit.” Suddenly she felt very uncomfortable; she recognized some faces to avoid, such as the luminescent priest she strongarmed, and the woman he was with, who she remembered from her files as the significant other of Schultz, the wolf she ran into often. She didn’t want trouble, or to raise concern. Her hood was fully over her eyes at the moment, leaving only her mouth expose. She flicked her eye to thermal vision so she could at least see through it and detect if anyone else was approaching. |

The incident might have been over then and there, if the two of them could only have moved on. In his eagerness to go after running into the cloaked woman, Luca would not have even noticed how familiar her voice was. But the second she uttered his name, he stopped and stared, his wide eyes just barely catching a set of familiar features before they were obscured by the fabric of the woman’s hood. “Caro—?!” He caught himself there, thinking speaking so loudly would draw unwanted attention, and tried again in an incredulous whisper. “Caroline? What are you—…? Why…?” Again Luca paused, trying to think of a way to ask what she was doing here without making it sound like an accusation. He wasn’t unhappy to see her, after all. Just… incredibly surprised, especially here. “… How did you get here?” The zero magi shifted uncertainly in place. Was that better? Worse? Even with as little had been said, Luca could tell the cyborg hadn’t wanted to be noticed, even accidentally, although all told he had no idea why. Worries about being an odd one out, maybe? If she was trying to hide a lack of magi features, that certainly explained the cloak, but… something about that theory didn’t seem quite right. But beyond that, he really had no way of knowing, no way of guessing. Should he even try to keep up a conversation? Maybe try to get the two of them out of the middle of the space, to some place even a little more private? Or… His face fell a little. Maybe he should just go before he made whatever situation he’d stumbled into worse. Tugging absently at one of his sleeves, he began to edge away again. “Sorry, I’ll just… go? You’re probably busy, so…” Caroline Vorlan
