Sweet talkin' lady, love how you entice. Sugar, with just the right amount of spice
| ◀ | [attr="class","PrettyInPink"] Kelri needed a smidge of a break. She loved this night, but it was exhausting to say the least. The night had gone on for a while and she needed a bit of a break. To be honest the wine was getting a little to her head, and the balcony was the perfect place to escape to. It was quiet and only had the occasional couple that would sneak out to be alone. The young baker wouldn’t say much of anything to anyone unless she was approached. She was enjoying the night that held a light snow. Reaching out, leaning on the balcony, the young lady let the wind sweep her hair and catch her breath. The night may have been cold, but it was worth it. The royal gardens were spectacular to say the least. She was more than willing to just stay out here for a short respite from the night’s activities. The baker let herself calm down, feeling the chilly night air as her mind wandered. It was the first holiday without her brother, and it was her fault that he was gone. She couldn’t tell anyone else this, but it truly did weigh heavily on her mind. She had caught her mother crying in her closet as she was getting ready, clutching the necklace that her youngest son had given to her the last holiday night. Kelri couldn’t tell anyone else what had happened and she really did hate to see her family this torn up. Her father was barely talking to anyone, and had retreated into his study half of the time. It was only for keeping appearances that he had left his study tonight. After all, the Anderson Family was expected to be in attendance. Especially If there were others who needed to be made connections with. Kelri was escaping, just for a little. She smiled as the music lifted out into the balcony’s open air, calling to her. She began the waltz, no partner needed. Who cares if others saw her. If they were to look, they would see the young baker dancing all by herself. “hmm hm hm.” She would be humming the waltz along as her dress flowed to the music. |

“ YOU'RE GONNA CARRY THAT WEIGHT. Daniel sighed as he exited onto the balcony. Between keeping young wolves from causing insult to some random noble’s petty, self-entitled pride and an encounter with two deities in the same breath, the night was already dragging, and it was far from being over.
He’d done a quick round about walk to check for anything that required his personal attention before quietly slipping away for a breath of fresh air. He reached almost instinctively for his cigarettes only to find that they weren’t in their usual place in his breast pocket. The memory of his decision to leave the coffin nails at home came rising to the surface.
“Right…” he mumbled to the air. Cigarette smoke tended to cling to one’s clothes and the smell could be a little on the offensive side, especially to a noblewoman used to pretty perfumes and rosy smells. No need for all of that.
Another sigh escaped him as his search ended and he instead pocketed his hands and searched for something to distract him. He found it in the form of Kelri dancing with the air as her only partner. He smiled simply because he found it amusing as he leaned against a nearby pillar and merely watched. The image of a younger, less scarred version of himself appearing briefly in her arms. The smile disappeared almost as quickly as it had appeared. He was much too old for her now to be anything short of an older brother of sorts (not that she had any shortage of those).
“Glad ta see ya back to your old self,” he said softly.

[attr="class","slowlyrics"]I can just hear them now [attr="class","slowlyrics1"]How could you let us down? [attr="class","slowbod"]
Tonight was hard. It was hard on her mother, and her grandmother, it was hard on her. Jasper was always the light of the holidays. He always seemed to be merry and could brighten a room, no matter the situation. If it was the holidays, then it could be said for sure that Kelri’s brother could be off making merriment. Tonight was emotionally hard.
Appearances dictated that Kelri not say this, that she be happy little Kelri, Especially in front of everyone here. They were mingling with nobles, and Kelri herself was to be quiet, and unseen. Which was part of the reason why the girl had escaped out to the balcony in the first place. She had wanted to just… hide a little? She found that those who were here were on another level. Sure, her family was full of senators and governors, but that didn’t mean she belonged here. No matter how much her mother wished she did. She sighed as she continued her little escape.
Even if she was having fun, dancing to the music that floated out to the balcony, it was still hard. This, act that she had to put on. Either way, she silently counted her steps, losing herself in the act. There were many times she had danced with her brother, and many times that she was more than willing to be led around on the dance floor by family. In these sorts of situations she was a doll, nothing more, nothing less.
She sniffled as a sad smile was regaled on her face. Ah, there were the tears. She knew they were coming, but she hadn’t been sure of when. At least there weren’t people around. If there were people around, she would need to stop immediately. A small moment of solace was found in her dance. She could almost feel him here. She was unaware of anyone else, and instead was focused on her dance.
As such, her movements halted and she froze when she heard a small voice behind her. It seemed she wasn’t the only one who needed an escape. The young woman would stop all movement, her dance halted mid-step. This wasn’t a place for other people and she had lost herself in that movement. Slapping on the signature Anderson smile Kelri turned and offered a grin to her brother’s former mentor. “It is very nice to see you Daniel.” She would complete a small curtsey, and would smirk looking over at the man. “Too many nobles for you?”

“ The Righteous Side of Hell. “Nice ta see you too, Kels,” Daniel said. “Sorry, didn’t mean to startle ya or anything like that. Just had ta get away from all these ladies askin’ ta touch my face. Ya’d think they’d never seen a scar before, but I might not be far off with that one.” The grizzled old wolf gave a sarcastic sigh. It wasn’t as if he was complaining, really; it felt nice having noblewomen melt all over him over because of his scars. His usual air of “don’t fuck with me” seemed to draw them like bees to honey. Typical, but he’d be lying if he said he didn’t enjoy it on some level.
“And besides, never was able ta stand around babysittin’ nobles. Not snooty enough.” He unglued himself from the pillar his shoulder had taken up residence on and gripped the collar of his jacket. His posture change to something rigid and uncomfortable, his face twisted into a vaguely displeased sneer as though he’d just tasted something particularly sour, and his nose wrinkled like there was a foul odor in the air. When next he spoke, Daniel’s words would come across as overly proper and warped into a bad rendition of a High Ethean accent.
“I say, what on earth are all these poor people doing here this evening? I was of the opinion that this would be a party for the high class of our society so that we might enjoy proper company for once.” Daniel took a few steps forward before dropping the charade and returning to his usual nonchalant self with a wolfish grin spreading across his lips.

Kelri would offer a sad smile to her friend. “Hope you are enjoying yourself at least a little.” She really did. Daniel had done more for her, and for that poor magi girl then she had cared to admit, and she was more than grateful to him for it. She had to stifle a giggle however when he mentioned the noble ladies fascination with scars. “Most of them have never seen combat in their lives.” Besides, she supposed that in a way Daniel deserved the attention. Her brother’s mentor was handsome, she did admit. “You love the fawning over, don’t try and kid me.” She gave a smirk and tilted her head. She knew he enjoyed the attention in a way.
Kel’s once giggle turned into a full out laugh as she watched what had begun to unfold. Her brother’s had told her stories of Daniel’s famous imitations and from what she had heard they were not something to be missed. Her laugh may not have been proper but it did feel infectious. The baker knew she probably be laughing so loud but she also knew that this was the first time in a while that she was happy. She wasn’t going to jinx it. “I dunno, you might be able to pull it off.” She couldn’t wait to see him try at the very least.
Yup definitely worth it! Especially with the tone that the ex-hunter was taking. Taking a deep breath Kelri stood upright and gave him a curtsy playing along. “Oh I don’t know, most of them have been waiting for this, their entire life.” She knew she was being just a little mean, but it wasn’t bad. “Thank you for that.” She would give a grin to her friend, customer, and now confidant, and would bow. “Thank you again I really appreciate it.” For more than he knew.
She was about to say more before she was interrupted by a noble who seemed particularly perturbed that the balcony was being occupied. She smiled at Daniel before excusing herself with a smile. “Bye Dan, I’ll see you later. Good luck tonight.” She would be more than willing to chat with him at one point in the night, but right now, the noble seemed to expect them to leave. She knew that this would get back to her grandmother if she didn’t leave, so leave she did.
