This isn't really a game, more like a writing exercise, but I couldn't think where else to put it. It has been said that each character that you write is a manifestation of some part of your psyche. Whether you believe that or not, there is always something that led you to write each character, and that makes it so that you invest in their development.
So here's how this will work.
1) Summarize each of your characters in fifteen words or less. 2) Why do you love them? What was your original concept of the character versus what they ended up being? What qualities about them make it interesting for you to play them? 3) How do you relate to them on a personal level?
-----------------------------------------
Drew 1) A musician with a remarkable gift for violence. 2) Unabashedly, I admit that he is my baby right now. When I originally created this character, he was a warrior poet. That poetic aspect of his character remains the emotional core of who he is, but to really understand this character, I always consider the difference between the way he is and the way people perceive him. If he'd had a different genetic roll of the dice, violence would never have come into this character's arc, but he is a huge man whose personal tragedies always stem from others trying to take advantage of his intimidating physicality and his talent for battle. Perhaps the reason it is so fun to play him is that he will do literally anything he has to do to protect the people he loves, and he doesn't have a very strict moral code outside of that. His superpower is the ability to endure any cruelty from the world and find a way to survive. 3) I relate to him because although he is outwardly intimidating, and people often avoid him because of it, he's an artist at heart.
Orion 1) The good man who allowed loss to distort his soul into that of a monster. 2) Oh, why do I love him so much? Orion was created as an experiment in the dichotomy between what you believe about yourself and what the truth is. As a character, he is tremendously flawed and human, always the underdog in a world of supernaturals, but he finds a way through because of his intelligence. He believes himself to be the hero of the story, a defender of humanity in a world that is threatened by supernatural beings beyond human understanding, but his blind hatred of the Magi stems from the tragedy that came to define his life. Truly, at his bones, he is a child grieving for his lost mother, hiding the pain behind anger and violence. 3) I relate to this character because it's easy to imagine how horrible of a person one can become if they choose to give into pain and anger instead of compassion and understanding.
Talia 1) The foreigner who found her place searching for justice. 2) In a world of twisted morality, Talia is the closest we have to a morally upstanding citizen, God help us. Although she is a strict Lawful Good, she can hardly be thought of as the knight in shining armor. She has a smoking problem. And is on the edge of having a drinking problem. And a gambling problem. You get the idea. She is the epitome of the flawed hero in a flawed world, but her sense of justice and inclusionist perspective sets her apart in this universe of prejudice and hate. She was originally supposed to be a morally upright cop, the paladin, but I don't find paladins very interesting. I like to root for the characters who are their own worst enemy. Because she is foreign, she has had to find her place in the world against the expectations of everyone who told her she couldn't. I love that about her. 3) I relate to this character because it's difficult to take a stand in the world when you're such an imperfect person. Her determination not to give into her own demons make her compelling for me to write.

"My Guiding Moonlight" 1.) An addict Magi of genius musical talent and an impish disposition.
2.) I actually wanted to make him suicidal and a "King of Trash" at first, but then my concept changed and I scrapped those cause I didn't like them. Miki ended up being my character that is going to end up growing as he goes along and I have plans for developments and a goal for later on. He's not my usual character and I don't have much of a psychological profile on him cause I've never played an addict before XD.
3.) I really can't say. I like playing characters outside of myself and thus my relation to them gets blurred.

Emiko Inoue
1) The professional bound by forced responsibilities who wants nothing more than freedom and earned normalcy. 2) Honestly, Emi didn't change at all from my original concept. I had played a male version of a semi-similar personality with the lovely handsome face to the left at my last rp home of 3+ years. His life circumstances were much more extreme than Em's so I had to dial back some of the concepts. But overall her personality was set in stone. What I had a hell of a time with was spending literal months trying find a face I hearted for the lesbian version of Quinn XD Em has had muuuuuultiple faces while the site was still being built and when I finally found her current "form" I was so relieved lol. The horror genre has done a decent job of explaining why being forced to do something you don't want do is terrifying. And honestly it was built from there. I love those kind of plots. Whether it's black mail, brainwashing, or a runic tattoo that literally forces your hand while your eyes cry silently, I eat 'em up. You get to explore the psychological impact that has had on them and how it's contorted the person they used to be. There's usually a need to rediscover yourself. I adore the journey. I love having to keep up appearances and pretend everything is nothing but fantastic. Meanwhile behind the mask you're having anxiety attacks and in the fetal position. There are so many layers, you could spend years peeling them away. Whiiiiiiiich is what I plan to do with Emi~ 3) Honestly, this is the type of character I play most and enjoy most. There was Quinn on Nacht, Emi here, Kupiec in many ways is very similar. This idea of hushed slavery really speaks to me for personal reasons I won't divulge into. For me, I enjoy placing a character in a difficult set of circumstances and then enjoy the journey that will eventually find them peace. It's never easy, it's never handed to you. It's something you have to work towards; something that is attainable even under more extreme and severe scenarios such as the ones I put my characters through. It's hope. It's writing someone else to victory while I do the same in real life.

FIAMMA 1) A girl with the soul a wildfire, and just as untameable. 2) I find myself loving Fiamma more with each passing post, because she's turned out to be a much more complex character than I first imagined when creating a character to join Inertia. Her personality has this adaptability to it, responding differently to each character she interacts with, and it keeps me eager to toss her into new threads so that I can keep exploring the more subtle nuances to her personality. She's independent yet lonely, passionate yet paranoid, angry about the state of the world yet hiding herself away because of the things she's already suffered in her life. It's extremely interesting to toy with since I can only rarely predict her thinking until I'm confronted with it in RP. 3) We're not very alike, but I can relate to Fiamma's desire to feel independent and move through life on her own power. It's scary to have to lean on others when you never know what someone's true intentions will be or if they'll even stay by your side.
ARCHALEOS 1) The villain who is convinced he can save the world. 2) Ohhhh man. Let me just say that I fully recognize how awful a person Archaleos is— honestly the worst I've ever played because of his pure lack of guilt for the atrocities he commits —but I also adore playing this merciless, creepy character. It's fun to be the bad guy. Besides that, even though he turned out very much in line with what I first imagined Archaleos also gained this new, interesting complexity that I've been uncovering through RPing him. His whole persona is sculpted around the concept of adopting the ideals of one's parents (wholeheartedly believing that his way is right) and he's still young; he looks for the approval of others to validate his maturity and worth while shutting out any hint that what he's doing is amoral. Magic is WRONG. Magi are EVIL. These are facts. And his whole sense of self could actually be made very fragile if he started to second guess himself, which is an idea I'd love to play with one day. 3) Again, I really can't say that Archaleos and I have much in common. However I think almost anyone can relate to the feeling of craving approval and acceptance, from parents or colleagues, which is a big part of what makes him a unique villain.
NASRIN 1) Birb mom. A woman who has seen the worst, but still hopes for the best. 2) I can't give much input on how Nasrin turned out vs. my initial concept of her because, well, I've yet to make a single in character post for her yet. But I can already say that I'm going to really enjoy playing her. Her personality is actually one that I've had in my mind and used in multiple other RPs before (with edits made each time) which is because I have a ton of fun portraying it; she's just such a warm and bright presence. Not to mention the fact that she fit perfectly in with a character concept that suited Inertia. Since my other two characters are much younger (like a fifth of her age) I'm looking forward to play around with Nasrin, who has so much more life experience and perspective and nurtures this undying, battle hardened optimism towards everything. She's adorable and deserves happiness. 3) I can relate to Nasrin's optimism, since I do consider myself a realist but like to always keep a cool head rather than get caught up in what's negative or could get worse in the future. She thinks it's a healthy way to see the world and so do I. Also she definitely has the most empathy out of my characters which I'd like to think I also possess.

Maevia
1- Basically omniscient woman that doesn’t know how to friendship
2- She’s a woman who wants nothing more than to rule the information network from the shadows, and yet constantly finds herself meeting people in person, and putting herself in danger. She’s a person who needs to constantly face her fears to further her ambitions; she’s powerful but plays a dangerous game. I’d be lying if I said having a powerful and risky character isn’t fun to play, but it’s watching her change and learn that really gets me into her. She didn’t change very much; I wanted a character inspired by Mass Effect’s Shadow Broker; the only thing that changed really is that I had to make her more willing to do things face-to-face in order for her to get threads. She’s tied up in a million things and watching her balance that, her future, her safety, and personal relationships is a fun challenge to watch and play. And throwing her in physical danger now is giving me a lot of insight into her personality.
3- She wants to be left alone to do her own thing, and would rather stay behind the scenes; the introvert in me very much empathizes with this. Emotions frighten her, and getting close to people is difficult (though her reasons are separate from mine, it’s the same idea), but, as she will find out eventually, worth pursuing. She also tries her best to remain detached from the world and gets frustrated when she can’t do this impossible task. She is also a nervous sort, but still forces herself to take risks.
Cadence
1- Excited, dumb bird child loves everyone and everything despite horrible, horrible life
2- Why wouldn’t I love Cadence? She’s a beacon of light in a sea of tragedy, and that makes her interesting. She is relentlessly positive and just legitimately wants to do good; she’s a big change from Maevia: she has few personal ambitions, she’s honest, she’s social, and she’s simple. And yet, her goals are just as difficult to reach as anyone else’s. On the surface, she’s a simple person with unbreakable optimism, but she’s more complex than that; it’s easy to forget the amount of tragedies the girl endured, and how fast she was forced to grow up. Most magi lead a path of revenge for their dead families, but Cadence looks at it differently; she would never want anyone, magi or otherwise, to have to experience this. And having her balance her forgiving attitude with her PTSD when talking with hunters is intriguing to say the least.
Actually, Cadence was almost a different magi entirely; I was looking to make a magi terrorist early on to shake up the site and create conflict… but that role was filled. So I decided to do the absolute opposite, and give her my love for making music along with it. Since then, she hasn’t changed much, though I find that she has a bit of realism mixed in with her naiveté and optimism, which I didn't really plan.
3- Her ability to let small things roll off her back and being kind to everyone is something I definitely relate to with her, though the difference is that her outer shell is sweet and mine can be, well, sassy. We’re both willing to put others before ourselves more than we should, and want to make the world a better place by doing small kindnesses for others. As well, I gave her my love of making music, even though I often get too discouraged to continue, at least she can keep going.
Dullahan
1- One-punch woman with a strange head inside and out
2- With two physically weak characters, playing Dullahan as a third is a wonderful exercise in being on the offensive. I love her attitude, her ability to just wade in and punch all her problems away. Well, not all of them; really, that’s what I like about her. She has a LOT of internal struggles, but none are with her morality- she’s set in who she is, and doesn’t question her views on magi or other cyborgs. Now, philosophy would have a lot to discuss about her; is she truly responsible for her actions, if she’s essentially been brainwashed? Make no mistake; currently she is a villain character, and creating good conflict is part of the joy of playing her. Knowing her future plots, too, is why I’m interested in moving forward with her most of all.
In her original concept, she was going to be an actual hunter, and entirely devoted to Kalidas, to the point where hunters would call it fanaticism. But I decided the government agent angle was way more interesting; as well, interactions with her “friends;” Oliver, Kelri, and Talia, allowed me to shape the human side of her and help strengthen her internal fight, which became much more prevalent as the threads went on.
3- I want to solve all my problems by punching them, and I really hate struggling with mental health; it’s not the same as her problems, but it’s a relatable comparison. In the future, she will be much more relatable to me, as she will look back on her past with disgust.
Also we’re both total babes.

Yukimaru
1) Loveable, stupid, Shoenen Hero that's just a bundle of optimism and bravado. 2) Yuki's always just a joy to play. When i write as him i have to get into character, which since Yuki's such a happy guy, in turn I get really positive and happy. His original concept.. is honestly so so different. The first Yukimaru was made for an original concept me and a former friend made back... oh god. over eight years ago. Back then he had long hair, was incredibly serious and was an illusionist. Over time he got to his design of short hair but throughout it all he always had a strand of hair that did something weird on his forehead. Yuki's abilities remained illusion based most of his time in existance, his weapons became a sai and a trench knife and he created illusions by hitting people. (basically he hit them and injected his Chakra/Chi/Soul Wavelength/magic etc to cause the illusions.) As he grew, I noticed that his abilities also gained a more lightning-theme. Similar to yuki's fighting style, striking fast and hard. Yuki began to mature a lot as I too mature, and my time on Pokemon Nacht helped with that immensely. Now here i had trouble on whether or not i should go with the zero magi rought or the electricity route. And since I already had Philip as my illusionist I decided to go with Electricity. 3) Yuki's honestly always been my author-insert character. A majority of his personality is based on me. With a small bit of differences that I see as a goal for myself. But I never forget that we are not the same person.
Philip
1) People assume that Philip is a strict psychopath. But actually from a non-reality non-subjective viewpoint he's more of a Big ball of Giggily, murdery, crazy wazy... stuff. 2) When i first got to Inertia, from the moment that I read all the lore I knew I wanted Philip. His original Concept was a combination of Sheogorath from Elder scrolls and Rumplestiltskin from Once upon a time. You can still hear that in his speech, which was a major point. Throw in a bit of deadpool 4th-wall breaking and you got yourself the mad god himself. There are few characters that I enjoy playing more. I quite literally begin to giggle in character and never stop grinning. 3) Contrary to popular belief, I'm not insane. So I don't relate personally, But i guess you can throw my love for the characters in there.
Ulrich
1) Evil Scientist with an unquenchable thirst for power. 2) I never get to play the villain but my last RP i was finally given the main villain character slot. however, not long after he started I didn't get to play him due to the site's death. When Rinny invited me to Inertia and asked me to play the headmaster, everything just fit perfectly for what Ulrich was last time. You haven't seen him yet, but I will tell you he will be a joy to read. The hardest thing I've had to do with him is making him "OP". lol I'm so used to giving things weaknesses and balances that being given the "make it OP af" card was weird at first, but I've got it down now. 3) Ulrich has my problem solving capabilities and where I store a majority of my intelligence. With my IQ being well above 130 rping a very intelligent character isn't as hard. It's basically impossible to play a character that's a lot more smart than you are.
