[attr="class","post"] [attr="class","text-lyrics"]I'll sing it forever Once Fiamma was ready, Cadence would take off into the air and get a bird’s-eye view of the surrounding forest. It was a beautiful sight, to see all the streets, the plains, the birds up above, the mountain range… All glimmering in the high sun. She was looking for a few landmarks her mother had shown her… aha! It wasn’t too far; maybe only an hour or so, depending on how rough the trail was. Confident in its location, she would swoop down to tell Fiamma the good news, and to bring a basket or net for carrying them back. With that, she would lead her through the woods, a spring in her step and a smile on her face. She would talk with Fiamma, trying to lighten the mood with a little joke or two, a small hummed song, and of course, listening to whatever her new friend wanted to discuss! She knew she had a habit of monopolizing conversations, and wanted to give her a chance to talk about herself a little bit. She would answer her earlier questions, saying that yes, being a Magi did draw attention in the city, but the people at the bars and clubs she performed in weren’t usually nasty to her. They were small-time clubs, and near her home in the slums, but despite her race, they would hire her, as she started drawing more crowds. She admitted too that this was why she was nervous about performing in a bigger venue; it was new, she didn’t know what to expect, and it wasn’t in her little area of Dagos; any support would be appreciated. If Fiamma did want to come… Well, Cadence would happily share the details with her (after a long struggle with her memory); where it was, when (not for a while yet), how to get there, and to meet her little family out back; she could get in for free! However, the enthusiasm was starting to fade, as they’d been walking for two hours now, instead of the estimated one. Cadence was visibly exhausted and nervous. Her feathers and hair had traces of leaves and twigs from her constant attempts to fly up and scout, get her bearings, and adjust their direction. “Aha, no, I know we’re going in the right direction this time!” She said, for the… well, so many times she had lost count. The path they were on now was one they had to make themselves; they had luck following animal trails and finding some small clearings, but the area around here was obviously not well-traveled. “Not much further, I-I swear.” She flinched, expecting Fiamma to groan at her or otherwise yell; the girl was probably frustrated beyond belief with Cadence, which made her more nervous. All she wanted to do was help! Stupid forest, looking different from this direction! As if nature could sense her tiny curses, a small, thin branch she was pushing away slipped her grip and whapped her sharply in the face, drawing a surprised “Ack!” from the magi, followed by the sound of her spitting out leaves. [attr="class","foreign"] [attr="class","dust"] [attr="class","gold"]words: 524 [attr="class","gold"]vague huffing sounds [attr="class","sun"]A Foreign Sun * I never thought I'd see Ugh, yeah, a basket was something she needed if she had any intention of actually bringing some fruit back. There was no guarantee that Fiamma would like them enough to bring home a whole bundle, but she'd always found the taste of fruits and berries to be a welcome treat. Living out in the wilds for a number of years had sort of accustomed her taste buds to favor anything that one could find out here so, honestly, her future opinion of peaches was really not what the fire magi was choosing to worry about.
Not when the task of finding the grove had yet to be seen through. That, too, was something Fiamma chose not to worry too much about for the moment, since Cadence seemed eager and sure of her sense of direction. They should have no problem finding it... probably.
Having someone to talk to made the time pass by easily and— though Fiamma had never a big talker, even if you subtracted the years of voluntary isolation that worsened her introversion —she did contribute to the conversation some as they walked among the trees. Speaking a bit about her life in Arecia, what it had been like restoring the cabin from the sorry state her family had found it in, the tricks she'd perfected over the years to help her survive on her own. It was... nice to share these memories with someone. Fiamma would be hard pressed to remember when she had a conversation nearly as lengthy and the fire magi felt comfortable doing her (comparatively smaller) part to fill some of the silence. Not that the forest was ever truly silent; filled with birdsong and the sound of wind in the trees.
Otherwise, she nodded along to the things Cadence told her about being a performer while (mentally) jotting down the information she was being given about the air magi's future showing. It could be pleasant to make a trip into Dagos that wasn't completely based off of necessity. Maybe Fiamma would feel less bogged down by a sense of obligation to walk the crowded streets that way, and getting to hear Cadence sing again certainly wouldn't hurt. There was some time left to decide.
One hour, two— Cadence's confidence was visibly faltering and that gave cause for some concern. Now, Fiamma was quite seasoned when it came to trekking through the forest for long periods of time but even she was getting agitated at the sight of these nonexistent trails that had long since taken them out of the portion of the forest she knew her way around. There wasn't any indication that they were getting closer to the destination, either. At least they didn't seem to be going in circles. ❝I hope so.❞ She wasn't angry, per say, but there was a skeptical frown etched onto her lips and she sounded weary. Cadence's battle with the branch managed to drag a huff of dry amusement out of her. ❝Try not to hurt yourself. We still need you intact to get us the rest of the way.❞ If she actually knew the way to go, that is. [attr="class","post"] [attr="class","text-lyrics"]I'll sing it forever Earlier, when spirits were up and conversation was lively, Cadence would listen in awe at Fiamma’s story. How someone could fix up a HOUSE like that, or figure out how to live here off the land for so long… that was what magi seemed to long for, and she did feel it too. Her parents, too, she said, were city birds before the camps, music lovers and performers, they never could stay from the lights and sounds. At least, that’s what they told her; this was long before she was born, after all. She did have something to contribute to being a fixer-upper; she told her about building a little shelter out of alleys in the slums, turning her storage unit into a house, and doing work repairing Arithelia’s temple. She enjoyed hearing Fiamma speak, evident by her hanging on her every word and laughing lightly at any little jokes. She didn’t expect company in the forest, but it was a pleasant surprise. She told her all about her life in Dagos, and strongly hinted that she wouldn’t mind some visits from the fire magi; she could set her up for a night or a few, feed her, and show her all around the pleasant parts of the admittedly dirty city. Now, though, with exhaustion and panic setting in, tempered by frustration at being attacked by a tree, of all things, Cadence was uncharacteristically quiet. She huffed a small laugh at Fiamma’s comment but… She was losing hope she COULD get them the rest of the way. Fiamma was nice enough to not say anything outright critical, but she had every right to. Were they really lost now? She stomped through the tall grass and branches. It had been a long time since she had to navigate this way; most of her trips were done by memory. “I… Yeah. I’m sure we’re almost there,” she said, quietly. Every minute or so, she mumbled something to herself, her volume and frustration increasing. “I know where I’m going. It’s just… no this way… No… That’s not… It has to be this way.” Her head was cloudy, her movements quick, hastened by panic that she may have gotten them both lost. It escalated into the angriest fit Cadence had displayed to date. She grumbled and picked up a rock. “Stupid! Darn! Confusing! Woods! Eaergh!” She closed her eyes and whipped it with all her strength, which was only a small distance. She panted heavily and grabbed at her head. Stupid, stupid, stupid! Plunk! She looked up at the sound. Quickly, she scrambled forward to the crest of the small downhill path ahead. Her frustration faded and she cheered at the sight of the clear stream running among river rocks. She looked around. “I know this! Here, right up ahead!” Taken by her excitement, she would grab Fiamma’s hand and pull her up along the stream’s bank, letting go if she resisted but not losing any of her childlike enthusiasm. The sound of running water grew louder and louder through the thick foliage of the forest. Yes! She knew it! Once she burst free of the brush into the clearing she would spread her wings and jump with an excited flourish, the trees rustling heavily as the wind whipped around and carried her gracefully forward. The grove was more beautiful than Cadence could have described to Fiamma. The grass was shorter here, constantly eaten by the herbivores that frequented the area, making it pleasant to walk on. Thick, old trees, tall and wide, stood proudly with hundreds of fruits upon their branches. The clearing was something out of a fantasy, and the vegetation was just the beginning. Bees buzzed around, happy to pollinate the vibrant wildflowers that grew in small patches. Birds chirped, and the water sound could drown out the world. Cadence wasted no time laughing and running through the trees, leaving Fiamma behind in her excitement. She had a target; the waterfall, which poured clear, beautiful water down into a wide, shallow pool, lined on the bottom and sides with smooth rocks. She spooked some rabbits, who bounded away as her talon pitter-pattered towards the water’s edge. Just like her childhood. Without slowing down, she peeled off her dress and bloomers and dove into the cool, refreshing water. It was a welcome bit of relief after the hot trek through the humid woods. She splashed around, flinging water with her wings, and humming happily as she sat in the pool, the water line stopping just below her shoulders. [attr="class","foreign"] [attr="class","dust"] [attr="class","gold"]words: 501 [attr="class","gold"]neked [attr="class","sun"]A Foreign Sun * I never thought I'd see Cadence's level of frustration was really starting to get worrying. For a number of reasons— primarily two. The first was that she obviously seemed to be having trouble with navigating (which was concerning since, you know, being lost in the forest isn't a great situation), and the second? This was Cadence. Sure Fiamma had only met her today but in that time she'd come to the solid conclusion that the girl didn't do angry. Friendly, chatty, a tad bit featherbrained? These traits were evidently pretty central to her personality so to see her visibly frustrated was quite the contrast... even if her version of an "angry fit" was more endearing than intimidating.
❝Y'know if you really can't find it it's okay if we just head back.❞ The words came out as a weary attempt at placating the air magi but Fiamma didn't get the chance to speak any further. Was that running water? She was also left with very little time to consider the stream— nor what it meant for their journey to find the grove —before Cadence grabbed hold of her hand and dragged her along with more strength than Fiamma would have expected. Maybe she'd just been too distracted to resist. Either way, she followed along dumbly (only tripping over her feet once or twice) with cobalt eyes going wide as the scenery all but exploded around them.
She hardly even noticed Cadence relinquishing her hand. The clearing was... gorgeous, to put it simply; and Fiamma had seen her fair share of natural beauty throughout her time living in the Outlands. The fire magi had to squint a bit against the vivid sunshine— a contrast to the shade of the trees they'd been trekking through for more than two hours —but it was only a momentary setback to her taking in her surroundings. The colorful flowers all in bloom, the lush grass, the babble of flowing water and the heady scent of fruit on the breeze. Oh this was definitely a gem that Fiamma was happy to discover. She was so enraptured in wandering among the peach trees that her attention strayed away from Cadence entirely, gaze only roving back towards the crystalline pool of water once she'd thoroughly marveled at the scenery and plucked a peach from one of the lower hanging branches. Her mouth was starting to water at the thought of taking her first taste.
❝This place is, really amazing.❞ There was no small amount of awe lurking in her voice. ❝I'm glad I decided to come with—❞ ...you? Aaaaand Cadence was naked. Holy shit.
Needless to say, Fiamma turned back around real quick (the poor peach all but smushing between her clawed fingers) with a sound caught between a yelp and a wheeze. It wasn't like she had seen anything in that quick glance but, jeez, color her surprised. A moment or two of silence ticked by before she loosed an awkward cough and decided to just take a bite of the npw pulverized peach. [attr="class","post"] [attr="class","text-lyrics"]I'll sing it forever Cadence laughed as she played in the water, not unlike a crow in a birdbath. She dunked her head under and emerged with a deep, satisfied breath. She shook, cleaning her feathers and tapping her talons happily against the stone-bottomed pool. Even the waterfall was as beautiful as she remembered; perhaps not the tallest or strongest fall, but it was respectable and soothing, and the mossy rocks jutting from the hill just begged to be climbed. Once her excitement settled, she looked down and sighed. Ah, dangit. She didn’t take off her underwear before jumping in. Wait … she… took off… Cadence jumped at Fiamma’s voice and crossed her arms, gripping each shoulder and forming a makeshift shirt with her feathers. Fiamma was looking away, frozen, and Cadence’s face turned dark with a deep blush she hadn’t felt since a goddess held her hand. Her mind raced- what should she say, oh goddess help her, should she just scramble out and get dressed, or, apologize or… Of course, her brain sent her the most embarrassing idea first. “Ah… um… d-do you… like the … ah… p-peach?” Oh you idiot you couldn’t at least apologize? Oh gosh she probably thinks your some pervert or something! Apologize! Explain! Do something!Everything she wanted to say pushed out of her mouth at once. Without pausing or stopping ever for an interruption, Cadence took one deep breath and rambled her thoughts as quickly as they came. “Oh my gosh I’m sorry I mean for doing this uh I just got lost in it I’ve always done this since I was little and the water is always so pleasant and I was just so happy we found it I just sort of forgot myself and I swear I’m not a creepy pervert I’m sorry if I embarrassed you oh goddess I’m just making it worse right now aren’t I I ruined the trip oh no oh no I’m just gonna go ahead and hide under this waterfall forever and I’m sorry Fiamma I-“ The whole time, keeping herself covered, she backed up away from the water’s edge, towards the waterfall. Her rambling was cut short by a surprised gurgling and sputtering as she backed through the gentle fall. Behind the crisp, clean water there was a little nook, a small arch that she used to hide in when she was young. It was big enough for three people, if they squeezed in tight. Right now, though, it was a shelter from her embarrassment, an extremely shallow pool where she could bury her face in her knees to hide away from Fiamma, and the embarrassment of the situation. [attr="class","foreign"] [attr="class","dust"] [attr="class","gold"]words: 485 [attr="class","gold"]awkwardly pats back but in word form [attr="class","sun"]A Foreign Sun * I never thought I'd see ...well the peach tasted nice. That was a positive thing that she could consider rather than what was currently happening behind her. This is fine.
Fiamma's hands were already a mess of juice and fruit pulp from holding it in such a death grip and the first bite had gotten a lot of that sweet stickiness on her face too— one of the fire magi's arms coming up to wipe at what had gotten all over her chin and lips. She could definitely say that she liked the taste, though, so that was... good. Unfortunately, taking a bite and mulling over her opinion on the taste of peach didn't offer much time for Fiamma to go on ignoring the situation she was being faced with reacting to.
❝It's... good. Yeah I— I like it. The peach.❞ The words came out rather lamely (painfully awkward to even her own ears) and she quietly cursed her own failure at making it seem like she was unbothered.
Oh dear and now Cadence was starting to freak. Fiamma really had no hope of getting a word in edgewise as the air magi went off babbling in shame and it was rather hard to get her attention with a gesture while Fiamma was still turned the other way. A pervert? Ruining the trip? Wow this was all rolling downhill with the speed of a dozen boulders, and not minutes after they'd managed to find the grove, too. The mention of hiding under the waterfall gave her the indication that she might be able to turn around and (after a few moments of anxious hesitation) the fire magi peeked over one shoulder before moving the rest of the way. The mangled peach still sat, sadly, in her hands.
❝No— no, Cadence, come on,❞ A few tentative steps were taken across the grass before she scowled down at the fruit in her hand and tossed it away across the grass, taking the rest of the distance to the edge of the pool with a more purposeful stride. She opened her mouth, closed it, took a breath— tried again. ❝First off I don't think you're a pervert. I'm guessing that was... something you used to do when you came here? I'm not... mad. Surprised? Yeah a bit, but you definitely didn't ruin the trip. That would be, uh, a stupid thing to let ruin getting to see this place. I'm thankful that you showed me the way.❞
A sigh, tension lurking in her limbs as she cast her glance aside and lifted one hand to scratch at the base of her horns. Yes she'd been flushed thoroughly red this whole time. ❝I should... probably back off again so you can actually come out. Gonna go pick some peaches.❞ Fiamma cast a last anxious glance towards the curtain of water separating the two magi, brows furrowed, before turning to wander back across the grass. Her worried expression turned into a shy smile at the gentle voice, and her flushed embarrassment turned into a flush due to her kindness. What a sweet girl, to say such nice things to her! It was silly, wasn’t it, to panic like that? She couldn’t help but start a low giggle, which erupted into full, lighthearted laughter. With her wings covering her chest, she emerged forward from the waterfall, still taken up in her giggle fit. She started making her way back to her original spot, moving with more confidence. “Eheheh… Sorry, I guess I, ah, freaked out a bit,” she admitted. “You’re right; I’m used to being here alone these last years, so I just sort of… lose myself in excitement. This place is just so nice, full of good memories... a little escape from the world. And... I guess I just don’t mind my own nudity,” she said, a bit more bashful now. “I forget that other people mind, though.” She gave a sheepish chuckle at this; it wasn’t the first time she’d surprised people doing this. It just came naturally to her, even when she was first in the city (thank goodness Geno set her right before she got herself arrested). She finally stopped laughing with a satisfied sigh, and leaned against the edge of the pool, looking up at Fiamma, who had turned to leave. “Hey,” she said, hopefully stopping the fire magi. She flashed her a smile. “I’m glad you like it here. And that you like peaches. This place is special to me, so… I’m glad to be able to share it with you.” For some reason, she stumbled a bit with her words and was aware of the quicker beating in her chest. “If it’s all the same to you, I’d like to soak for a bit more,” she said. She casually kicked her talons up and down in the water, making gentle splashes and small waves. The sun shone through the foliage onto the pool, giving the water a reflective look, and making Cadence’s wet form glisten. “Oh! But if you need help getting the high fruits, let me know.” She turned around from the edge, intent on soaking in the deep pool some more and leaving Fiamma in peace. Birds sang, water rushed, and the world was peaceful. A curious bee buzzed harmlessly around her head before going off to a bed of flowers. With a relaxed sigh, she leaned her head back on the rocky shore and closed her eyes. “It does feel nice, you know. You should try it. With, ah, your clothes on, I mean,” she added with a tiny laugh. “You can always dry in the sun, after all.” [attr="class","text-lyrics"]Always on my lips you will dance so sweetly the leviathan @ GS & BRSW[newclass=.icon-bg]padding:10px;border:1px solid #000;height:100px;width:100px;margin-right:10px;[/newclass][newclass=.iconhere]-moz-transition: all 0.9s ease-in-out;-webkit-transition: all 0.9s ease-in-out;-o-transition: all 0.9s ease-in-out;[/newclass][newclass=.iconheres]-moz-transition: all 0.9s ease-in-out;-webkit-transition: all 0.9s ease-in-out;-o-transition: all 0.9s ease-in-out;opacity: 0;[/newclass][newclass=.iconheres:hover]-moz-transition: all 0.9s ease-in-out;-webkit-transition: all 0.9s ease-in-out;-o-transition: all 0.9s ease-in-out;opacity:1;[/newclass][newclass=.notestxt]padding-top:20px;font:small-caps 10px 'Times New Roman',serif;color:#fff;text-align:justify;padding:10px;overflow:auto;[/newclass][newclass=.text-lyrics]display:inline-block;font: italic 9px/100% Times New Roman,serif;text-align:center;letter-spacing:1px;width:80%;border-bottom:1px solid #000;line-height:0.1em;margin:10px 0 20px;margin-left:30px;[/newclass][newclass=.text-lyrics span]background:#fff;padding:0 10px;[/newclass] [newclass=.post]font:11px Times New Roman,serif;color:#1c1c1c;padding:0px 20px 0px 0px;height:350px;width:330px;text-align:justify;overflow:auto;line-height:130%;position:relative;margin-top:-400px;margin-left:100px;[/newclass][newclass=.post::-webkit-scrollbar-track]border:1px solid #000;background-color:#fff;[/newclass][newclass=.post::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background-color:#000;[/newclass][newclass=.post::-webkit-scrollbar]width:4px;background-color:#fff;[/newclass]

[attr="class","foreign"] [attr="class","dust"] [attr="class","gold"]words: 649 [attr="class","gold"]everything went better than expected [attr="class","sun"]A Foreign Sun * I never thought I'd see Truth be told, Fiamma's attention had still been focused on the sounds she could hear from Cadence (over the sound of the falls) even as she was walking away, and when soft laughter met her ears it prompted a sharp wave of relief from the fire magi. That was promising. She'd felt anything but confident in trying to offer some words of encouragement— hopefully just trying to not make things worse —so to know that she had actually been successful? It was uplifting. The sense of awkward strain didn't dissipate so simply, but maybe that was only her feeling it. The side effects of being a hermit in the forest strike again.
❝Yeah, um, it just caught me off guard is all. You could say that I'm not very used to people in general,❞ Especially not half naked ones. She left that part out, though. This was apparently a place special to Cadence, one where she could feel free to relax and enjoy, so Fiamma wasn't going to make a huge fuss over being startled by a little skin. Not going to ruin the experience, right? After all it was only... her new friend taking a soak, topless. She could totally deal with that.
Fiamma was nearly at the base of the closest peach tree (still within speaking distance of Cadence, so long as neither of them mumbled or dropped their volume) when the air magi spoke again so— after a few beats of hesitating, lip chewing, and wrestling down the flush that still sought to make its home in her cheeks —she turned her head again to catch Cadence's eye across the space between them. See? Feather shirt. She could stop acting like a spooked rabbit now. ❝...❞ It was really flattering to hear such a thing. Words were not easily forthcoming to form a reply but Fiamma was powerless against the smile that decided to bloom into place on her lips, the brightness of it reaching all the way up to her eyes, before she went pink all over again and glanced away with a quiet laugh. ❝...I'm flattered. And go ahead, this basket won't hold all that many so I should be able to fill it with what I can reach.❞
Really with the sheer number of these fruit bearing trees she could fill many more with what was only within easy reach. A shortage was the last concern on Fiamma's mind. It was quite relaxing to go about picking the peaches, actually, and a comfortable silence (broken only by wind and water and the buzz of insects) settled over the grove as she went about plucking the plumpest looking ones with the practiced care of someone who has been dealing with claws for all their life. The basket had some real heft to it once she set it, now full, down on the grass, but it shouldn't end up to be a problem for carting all the way back. Not if they made better time getting back to her house than what it had taken to find this place. Heh.
Now there was just the offer to join Cadence in the pool. It took some fidgeting and warring over the idea, yet eventually Fiamma cobbled together her composure enough to make her way back over to the falls with her more often seen, casually neutral expression in place. The shoes definitely weren't going in so those came off without second thought and the fire magi huffed over her remaining clothes with a furrow of concentration sneaking into place between her eyebrows. A t-shirt was fine to get wet... but jeans? Not so much. Oh what the hell— before her reservations could catch up with her she shucked off the pants and eased down to sit at the pool's edge, the bottom halves of her legs slipping into the water.
Oh. A little chilly, but nice. [attr="class","post"] [attr="class","text-lyrics"]I'll sing it forever Cadence was glad Fiamma was distracted by fruit-picking; it was easier to hide her bashful smile and continued blush. This time, it was caused by Fiamma’s little smile; an expression she hadn’t displayed quite so earnestly before; it was really rather pretty, but Cadence kept the comment to herself. Inwardly, she resolved to try and make the girl smile as much as possible. She probably didn’t do so often, living out here alone. She would get along well with people in the city. Cadence let her mind free for a moment as she leaned her head back with a satisfied sigh. She lazily closed and opened her talons, and dropped her wings to soak in the water. Her back was to most of the trees now, so Fiamma wouldn’t be surprised. The water gently moved around her, pushed from the fall to the stream to go on and branch out into the forest. She was glad nobody often found this place; it was tough to reach by many paths, so only those who flew really knew of it. It was a small area in the big forest, far from Haven, far from anywhere. Camps were a distance away, and it remained untouched during the genocides. Some exploring early on by the curious crow found that there were wetlands in most directions, and impassible forest growth in others. She sighed and twirled her fingers in the water. Her private oasis. Part of her wanted to pack up the city and live here, but… she couldn’t bring everyone, couldn’t perform, couldn’t… help others. It was a nice fantasy, but in her mind, a selfish one. She lifted her arm to form a feather shirt once more as she heard Fiamma approaching. She looked at her with a smile, then politely turned away as she went to remove her pants. There was the relaxation she was hoping to see! “See?” She said. “It’s a wonderful feeling after a warm trek, or even on any sunny day. Oh, and in the winter, it’s beautiful here, to see the fall all frozen. I’ve always felt like time stopped here, but that’s when it really feels like the world is still.” Her eyes lingered on Fiamma for longer than was probably polite. She cleared her throat and looked away. “You, ah, you have really pretty legs, you know.” She said, hesitation between each word. “I guess fending for yourself keeps you in great shape, huh? Too bad I can’t do anything with these.” With a small giggle, she lifted one of her skinny bird legs out of the water and twirled her foot before submerging it in the clear pool once more. She leaned her head back and looked behind. There was a peach on the ground a bit out of reach. With a bit of visible strain and focus, a breeze picked up, and became strong enough to roll the fruit over into her grasp. “Phew,” she huffed, panting. She rolled the peach in her hand and smiled. “I don’t usually use my magic except to help me fly. It’s kind of embarrassing how out of practice I am. I’m sure you’re really good at yours.” [attr="class","text-lyrics"]Always on my lips you will dance so sweetly the leviathan @ GS & BRSW[newclass=.icon-bg]padding:10px;border:1px solid #000;height:100px;width:100px;margin-right:10px;[/newclass][newclass=.iconhere]-moz-transition: all 0.9s ease-in-out;-webkit-transition: all 0.9s ease-in-out;-o-transition: all 0.9s ease-in-out;[/newclass][newclass=.iconheres]-moz-transition: all 0.9s ease-in-out;-webkit-transition: all 0.9s ease-in-out;-o-transition: all 0.9s ease-in-out;opacity: 0;[/newclass][newclass=.iconheres:hover]-moz-transition: all 0.9s ease-in-out;-webkit-transition: all 0.9s ease-in-out;-o-transition: all 0.9s ease-in-out;opacity:1;[/newclass][newclass=.notestxt]padding-top:20px;font:small-caps 10px 'Times New Roman',serif;color:#fff;text-align:justify;padding:10px;overflow:auto;[/newclass][newclass=.text-lyrics]display:inline-block;font: italic 9px/100% Times New Roman,serif;text-align:center;letter-spacing:1px;width:80%;border-bottom:1px solid #000;line-height:0.1em;margin:10px 0 20px;margin-left:30px;[/newclass][newclass=.text-lyrics span]background:#fff;padding:0 10px;[/newclass] [newclass=.post]font:11px Times New Roman,serif;color:#1c1c1c;padding:0px 20px 0px 0px;height:350px;width:330px;text-align:justify;overflow:auto;line-height:130%;position:relative;margin-top:-400px;margin-left:100px;[/newclass][newclass=.post::-webkit-scrollbar-track]border:1px solid #000;background-color:#fff;[/newclass][newclass=.post::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background-color:#000;[/newclass][newclass=.post::-webkit-scrollbar]width:4px;background-color:#fff;[/newclass]

[attr="class","foreign"] [attr="class","dust"] [attr="class","gold"]words: 540 [attr="class","gold"]pfff. then fiamma is #1 at awkward compliment accepting [attr="class","sun"]A Foreign Sun * I never thought I'd see Reflecting on it now, Fiamma found it very reasonable that she'd not found this little slice of paradise on her own. It was far off from the areas of the forest she typically wandered (even when venturing deep into the trees to lay traps and scour for berries that hadn't yet been picked) and, in addition, finding "paths" to cut through the thick undergrowth around here would be a nightmare without some guidance. Sure she could technically just torch her way through any troublesome flora, but Fiamma was not too keen on that sort of thing. Being a nature lover and all sort of turned her off from tearing through it all willy nilly.
It just made the fire magi all the more glad that she'd found someone kind enough to lead her to it. ...albeit with some difficulty. Ah if only this place was closer to her home; she would definitely still be visiting in the future but she could do it more often if the travel time was slimmer.
❝It really is. I was a little tired out from all that walking but this helps.❞ Fiamma agreed with a gusty sigh coloring the words. She'd always be a lover of the sunshine and fresh air that came with the outdoors, however some rest always felt great after being out and about all day. The cool touch of the water also made an excellent substitute for air conditioning. ❝And I can imagine, frost and snow makes the whole forest look pretty. I just wish that it didn't include making the temperature drop so damn much. Cold weather isn't one of my favorite things.❞
Yep, fire magi problems right there. Cadence's next words took her mind of the subject rather quickly, though, and Fiamma fought back another incoming flush— because wow she'd already done that enough for one day —as she dropped her gaze down towards her knees. ❝Um, yeah. It's a lot of... walking mostly,❞ She offered, somewhat lamely, before the air magi's tinkle of laughter prompted her to glance up again and muster a small, amused smile. Fiamma's own clawed toes flexed under the surface of the water as she decided to scoot herself forwards so that she'd actually have more of her body wet. Her breath hitched in a short gasp when the water's cool touch closed around her ribs.
❝You have wings, though. I wouldn't need my legs so much if I could fly around over the trees.❞ She continued just as the peach had begun to roll under the influence of Cadence's magic. Fiamma watched the process with a look of interest (the wing had been enough indication that the other girl was an air magi, but she still found it interesting to see others doing magic) before the vivid blue of her eyes turned to Cadence for a reply. ❝Mm— I don't know. I like to practice, and it helps that it's useful for a lot of things. Cooking food, keeping warm; survival stuff. It's hard not to compare myself to my parents and the things they could do, but, I'd like to think that I have good control over it at least.❞
❝Haven't started any forest fires or burned my house down... yet.❞ [newclass=.gold]background-color:#fff;padding:2px;border-left:#222e8e 10px solid;font-family:century gothic;font-size:10px;color:#121b5e;width:120px;margin-top:10px;opacity:0;transition: 1s all;text-align:left;[/newclass] [newclass=.dust]-webkit-filter: grayscale(1); filter: grayscale(1);transition: 1s all;[/newclass] [newclass=.sun]-webkit-filter: grayscale(1); filter: grayscale(1);transition: 1s all;[/newclass] [newclass=.foreign:hover .dust]-webkit-filter: grayscale(0); filter: grayscale(0);transition: 1s all;[/newclass] [newclass=.foreign:hover .gold]opacity:1;transition: 1s all;[/newclass] [newclass=.foreign:hover .sun]-webkit-filter: grayscale(0); filter: grayscale(0);transition: 1s all;[/newclass] [newclass=.foreign ::-webkit-scrollbar]background-color:#fff;width:1px;[/newclass] [newclass=.foreign ::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background-color:#666;width:1px;[/newclass] [googlefont=La Belle Aurore]

[attr="class","post"] [attr="class","text-lyrics"]I'll sing it forever “I’m glad you like it here as much as I do,” she said. “Really.” She laughed and nodded at her musings on the cold. She wriggled her body, letting her tension loosen in the water’s embrace. “Mhm, I guess that makes sense. At least you don’t have trouble starting a fire to warm up! It’s always a hard season in the city… Not enough stuff downtown to keep a good fire going.” She looked grim for a moment as past events came to mind, but it passed as soon as it came. She was happy so many were able to make it, even if some didn’t. She laughed at Fiamma’s feet joining in near hers. It was oddly comforting to find someone who also had inconvenient toes; shoes were just out of the question for her. Not that she needed them, with her thick, birdlike skin, but sometimes she wanted to wear cute shoes like the ladies downtown, just to look nice. She snickered at Fiamma’s little moment of shock when she took the plunge in. “Well, you knew it was cold!” She teased. She nodded with interest as she snacked on the fruit with her free hand. It did all sound rather useful; sometimes she wondered if being a fire or zero magic would allow her to help more people. Songs couldn’t heal a wound or warm someone in the winter. Her sour thoughts fell away when she burst out in laughter at Fiamma’s last sentence. “That’s good then; hopefully you can keep that up! Please don’t burn up my little grove here,” she said with a friendly laugh. “Maybe it’s a good thing I’m not a fire magi; I’d have probably burnt down Dagos by accident if I were.” As if nature wanted to confirm her remark, her fingers fumbled and she dropped the peach in the water with a loud splunk! She scrambled and splashed a bit, finally retrieving the runaway fruit. She gently snacked on the waterlogged peach, enjoying a moment of silence with her friend. For the first time, she had a moment absent of embarrassment or activity, where she could actually take in Fiamma as a whole. Her eyes, both color and shape, her scales, the little streak in her hair, her claws, her voice… Cadence suddenly felt she was staring too long and averted her eyes downward. Oh goddess, she thought. She’s really pretty. I hope I wasn’t staring too much. She kicked her feet up and down, suddenly much more nervous than she had been since she first talked to her. Gradually, she let herself slip forward and sink lower into the water, until it was just at her chin. She grasped at an earlier subject to try and relieve some of the awkwardness that likely only she felt. “Having wings is… nice. It’s… a workout, yeah. Can’t, ah, can’t some fire magi learn to fly, too?” As she spoke she sank lower, and her mouth was in the water at the end of her sentence. Out of habit, she blew bubbles in the water, taking small glances at Fiamma as she spoke. [attr="class","foreign"] [attr="class","dust"] [attr="class","gold"]words: 661 [attr="class","gold"]fiamma just. I think this is good [attr="class","sun"]A Foreign Sun * I never thought I'd see ❝Pff— heh, I'll try not to. I like this place too much so far to turn it into fire wood.❞ Said in a clearly joking manner as she got a bit more settled into the water, which was now settled at just below her shoulders. Yeah lowered temperatures chilled Fiamma a bit more than your average person (she'd always tended to run hotter, as if fire lingered in her veins) but she could get acclimated to it well enough. It did feel really nice washing away the sweat from her skin.
Mentions about Cadence's life back home did leak a sort of damper into the cheery atmosphere but Fiamma was unsure how to breaching the topic any further, or if she should even try. Probably best not to. So far Cadence had let on a few details of the hardships she had to face living in Dagos and it was... worrying. She had seen her fair share of homeless, desolate magi lingering in the shadows of the city— so the concept of her kind living such a life was not new —but then again she'd never struck up a friendship with any of them. It made it more real, more frustrating.
The conversation on Fiamma's end had come to a brief lull as these thoughts pulled at her, an equally brief distraction, however the plunk of the peach dropping into the water snapped the fire magi back into focus. Another gently amused laugh pulled free from her lips (something that quickly chased away any hint of a frown) as she watched Cadence flail to rescue her snack before that little fumble also passed. It left Fiamma able to just enjoy the moment of quiet, listening to the beat of the falls, thinking about nothing important. Eventually one of the magi's hands crawled sidelong around the edge of the pool to reach for where her pants had been dropped in a pile, stretching for the pocket where the hunk of flint she'd been toying with earlier rested. A habit for busying her fingers. Fiamma rolled it idly across her palm once she'd brought it in close and she leaned her head against one propped up palm as her clawed thumb made to flick over the rough surface— a motion like kindling a lighter into life.
A burst of sparks, a tongue of flame licking over her knuckles. It was something she'd done a thousand times and, conveniently, Fiamma's idle bit of toying kept her unaware of the eyes on her. She dropped the stone back onto the bank soon enough, though, and it was when she began roving her gaze over the gently rippling surface of the water that Fiamma noticed the prickling sensation of being watched. Blink. A glance up only caught the last fraction of a second where soft brown eyes had been doing just that.
It first occurred to Fiamma to be flustered (how long had Cadence been looking? and why? okay maybe she could guess why) but after some consideration she decided it wasn't a bad thing. ...flattering, even. Fiamma did have her pride, after all, and it certainly didn't hurt to have the person looking be someone that she liked. As for how, well she was still considering that.
❝I've heard that, yes. Something about using magic like rockets at your hands and feet. I can do something similar if I want to jump up high or have an extra burst of speed, but even that took practice. It's easy to... overdo it.❞ A rough chuckle. Ah that brought to mind a few faceplants and crashes she'd suffered; practice was a must. Fiamma had apparently settled upon being more delighted about snatching Cadence's attention than embarrassed (as evidenced by the sort of wry smile she now sported) and she flicked a bit of water at the other girl as she sank into the pool. ❝Wings are simpler. But I don't think they'd look so nice on me.❞ [newclass=.gold]background-color:#fff;padding:2px;border-left:#222e8e 10px solid;font-family:century gothic;font-size:10px;color:#121b5e;width:120px;margin-top:10px;opacity:0;transition: 1s all;text-align:left;[/newclass] [newclass=.dust]-webkit-filter: grayscale(1); filter: grayscale(1);transition: 1s all;[/newclass] [newclass=.sun]-webkit-filter: grayscale(1); filter: grayscale(1);transition: 1s all;[/newclass] [newclass=.foreign:hover .dust]-webkit-filter: grayscale(0); filter: grayscale(0);transition: 1s all;[/newclass] [newclass=.foreign:hover .gold]opacity:1;transition: 1s all;[/newclass] [newclass=.foreign:hover .sun]-webkit-filter: grayscale(0); filter: grayscale(0);transition: 1s all;[/newclass] [newclass=.foreign ::-webkit-scrollbar]background-color:#fff;width:1px;[/newclass] [newclass=.foreign ::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background-color:#666;width:1px;[/newclass] [googlefont=La Belle Aurore]

Hey!” She said, laughing. “Wings are handy for more than flying, you know. Like this!” She sat up and lifted her free arm from the pool, water dripping from the feathers. With a sudden flick of her arm, a sheet of small droplets flung from them and pelted Fiamma and the water around her. She couldn’t contain her childlike giggling, and kept her wing up like a shield in case she wanted to retaliate further. Once any splash war settled down (though she would certainly engage in one, if challenged!), she would settle back into the water, her laughter winding down enough for her to continue to conversation. She noticed Fiamma’s cute little grin, and couldn’t help but display a bashful smile of her own while she talked. “I’m sure you could learn to fly with it,” she said. “I could teach you if you needed help with like, moving around, or landing!” She hadn’t displayed skill at many things, but at least her flying was solid. As long as it wasn’t used for fishing, apparently. If Fiamma looked hesitant, she’d laugh it off, understanding that she hadn’t done much to secure the magi’s confidence thus far. “I bet you’d look nice with wings. Maybe not like mine, but if they were on your back, and like, dragon wings! It would go nice with your eyes, and your pretty scales!” Her mind had added the word ‘pretty’ without her consent. Rather than sit there and choke on her tongue while sinking into the watery abyss of the pool again, she decided to move on to another topic. The image of Fiamma flying around with dragon wings clung to her mind though. It really would be a nice sight. “That was really beautiful, that fire you were doing earlier,” she said. Her fingers traced lazy circles in the pool. The compliment was an earnest one; watching other magi do magic so easily was fascinating to her. “You make it look so easy, too. That… rock you’re carrying around. The one you play with. Is that something special for you?” She asked. Her hand unconsciously crept to the key around her neck, her fingers tracing the cool metal. If Fiamma would pull her flint back out to talk about it, Cadence would scoot closer to her, to get a better view and regard the stone with childlike curiosity. [attr="class","foreign"] [attr="class","dust"] [attr="class","gold"]words: 483 [attr="class","gold"]I do what I want [attr="class","sun"]A Foreign Sun * I never thought I'd see A muffled yelp of surprise escaped Fiamma as she was assailed by the water that flicked off of Cadence's feathers and dampened what portions of her body had remained out of the pool. Okay she should have expected that one. She didn't seem at all affronted by the little attack, though, and just gave a snort in response to all of the air magi's (very endearing) giggling before lifting one foot to kick some water back at her. Naturally she had to have the last splash, even if she'd been the one to start the whole thing.
❝Maybe I'll give it a try one day. I still have some things to work on with my feet on the ground,❞ She replied with the clawed fingers of one hand lifting to comb back through her hair. It left Fiamma's locks a bit chaotically tousled around her horns— those curious, crimson strands sticking out in different directions —but she evidently wasn't concerned in having it look neat. ❝As for having you assist me...❞ A pointed pause. Just teasing, though; the fire magi knew that Cadence had a good handle of herself in the air (she'd seen her flitting about enough) so if anyone could help Fiamma learn how to do it it would be her.
She lost her handle on the silence after a few long moments and devolved into snickering to herself. ❝If I decide to try I'll let you know.❞
What Cadence said next tamed Fiamma's burst of mirth and she again settled into a small, but genuinely appreciative smile— something that had been coming to her with startling ease these past few hours. It also brought that barest hint of pink back into her cheeks. Dragon wings... it was a nice concept to think about. To imagine the feeling of air billowing beneath them, carrying her feet off the ground, soaring over the trees to see the forest she loved in a bird's eye view. Yes, a nice thought.
The topic flitted along to the subject of her fire magic and Fiamma's eyes went to the hunk of rock she'd set down, a hand moving to pick it back up soon after. ❝Ah, thank you. It's comforting to use my magic so I do little things like this a lot,❞ She explained with claws scraping gently over the lines already carved into the flint's dark surface. ❝There's nothing really sentimental about this thing, though. Fire magi need something to make a flame to work with so that we can use most of our magic. Just a spark, really. My parents both liked to use matches, but when I found this little, ordinary looking rock that worked I stuck to it.❞ Fiamma's gaze flicked back up to meet Cadence's own and she offered the object in question for the air magi to inspect, since she seemed interested. ❝I always keep it close by.❞ [newclass=.gold]background-color:#fff;padding:2px;border-left:#222e8e 10px solid;font-family:century gothic;font-size:10px;color:#121b5e;width:120px;margin-top:10px;opacity:0;transition: 1s all;text-align:left;[/newclass] [newclass=.dust]-webkit-filter: grayscale(1); filter: grayscale(1);transition: 1s all;[/newclass] [newclass=.sun]-webkit-filter: grayscale(1); filter: grayscale(1);transition: 1s all;[/newclass] [newclass=.foreign:hover .dust]-webkit-filter: grayscale(0); filter: grayscale(0);transition: 1s all;[/newclass] [newclass=.foreign:hover .gold]opacity:1;transition: 1s all;[/newclass] [newclass=.foreign:hover .sun]-webkit-filter: grayscale(0); filter: grayscale(0);transition: 1s all;[/newclass] [newclass=.foreign ::-webkit-scrollbar]background-color:#fff;width:1px;[/newclass] [newclass=.foreign ::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background-color:#666;width:1px;[/newclass] [googlefont=La Belle Aurore]

[attr="class","post"] [attr="class","text-lyrics"]I'll sing it forever The bird could hardly contain her excited cheer at being able to help Fiamma fly. Of course, this was preceded by a brief look that said “come on!” at her pointed pause. She smirked and flicked one more little bit of water at her for it, too. She always was able to warm up to people quickly, but she was relieved that Fiamma did the same with her. It felt nice to be trusted, at least a little bit, and to have someone to relax with in her oasis. “It’s easy, when you get the hang of it,” she said. “You just have to learn how to trust your magic, and practice! I bet you’re a natural, Fi.” The nickname came out naturally for her. She always did like them, ever since the kids started calling her “Caydee” back home. She finished her snack, and tossed the pit away into the grass, where some animal would happen upon it and play with it, or eat it, or it would simply decompose back into the earth. She dipped her hand underwater and rubbed the fruit juice off her fingers. On the other side of the pool, at the treeline, a doe and her fawn stalked silently through the brush, clearly skittish about two strangers in her drinking hole, but they would travel down and drink from a safe distance at the stream. Above, on the rocky ledges of the waterfall, a murder of crows chirped and splashed around in shallow pools to the side of the pouring water. Cadence looked at them with a smile, suddenly feeling a little pained about having to go back to the city, filled with concrete, metal, and dirt. As if it were a priceless artifact, Cadence gingerly took the rock from Fiamma and examined it closely. There were little scratches everywhere on the surface. “I’d never heard that rocks could make fire,” she said, her voice whispered in awe. She looked up at Fiamma. “You can do that? Turn a little spark into a flame like that? That’s amazing.” She played with the rock between her hands, a little awkwardly as the one was still forming a feather shirt. She held it out in front of her with the shirt hand, at shoulder level. How do you make fire from a rock? Fiamma did it with her claws, but Cadence’s hands were very human; dainty, with longish nails that grew unevenly due to her chewing habit. She ran a few test flicks of her nail across the rock, producing nothing more than a light scraping noise. She tried it a little more forcefully, and there was a light snap as the longer part of her nail cracked off. She gasped and stuck the fingertip in her mouth; it didn’t hurt, but it was still a shock. “Ack!” She cried out. “Nope nope nope, here.” She handed the stone back to Fiamma. She withdrew her finger from her mouth and surveyed the uneven crack in the nail. Ah well, it was getting a little long anyway. She felt the jagged surfaced with her thumb before deciding to even it out by gnawing the rest of the nail down to her fingertip. “How do you make it look so easy?” [attr="class","text-lyrics"]Always on my lips you will dance so sweetly the leviathan @ GS & BRSW[newclass=.icon-bg]padding:10px;border:1px solid #000;height:100px;width:100px;margin-right:10px;[/newclass][newclass=.iconhere]-moz-transition: all 0.9s ease-in-out;-webkit-transition: all 0.9s ease-in-out;-o-transition: all 0.9s ease-in-out;[/newclass][newclass=.iconheres]-moz-transition: all 0.9s ease-in-out;-webkit-transition: all 0.9s ease-in-out;-o-transition: all 0.9s ease-in-out;opacity: 0;[/newclass][newclass=.iconheres:hover]-moz-transition: all 0.9s ease-in-out;-webkit-transition: all 0.9s ease-in-out;-o-transition: all 0.9s ease-in-out;opacity:1;[/newclass][newclass=.notestxt]padding-top:20px;font:small-caps 10px 'Times New Roman',serif;color:#fff;text-align:justify;padding:10px;overflow:auto;[/newclass][newclass=.text-lyrics]display:inline-block;font: italic 9px/100% Times New Roman,serif;text-align:center;letter-spacing:1px;width:80%;border-bottom:1px solid #000;line-height:0.1em;margin:10px 0 20px;margin-left:30px;[/newclass][newclass=.text-lyrics span]background:#fff;padding:0 10px;[/newclass] [newclass=.post]font:11px Times New Roman,serif;color:#1c1c1c;padding:0px 20px 0px 0px;height:350px;width:330px;text-align:justify;overflow:auto;line-height:130%;position:relative;margin-top:-400px;margin-left:100px;[/newclass][newclass=.post::-webkit-scrollbar-track]border:1px solid #000;background-color:#fff;[/newclass][newclass=.post::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background-color:#000;[/newclass][newclass=.post::-webkit-scrollbar]width:4px;background-color:#fff;[/newclass]
