Emiko laughed lightly at the sentiment. It was a fair one and, to be completely honest, one she wouldn't mind either on all selfish fronts. "Next time. My place. Company." And with a wide smile she'd settle further into the couch and the man's side as drowsiness began to ebb at her. Numb. Peaceful. Humored. It was ... it was a nice combo.
Upon finally falling asleep Emiko's consciousness would slip from her mortal body and float through means unknown to mortals into the Dream Realm. The blank void that had once been there rippled into life. Color splattered in paint strokes, soon spiraling to create formations. The whole process would be spectacular to a viewer able to remember the experience. But alas, such was the way with most dreamers.
.......... An Emiko would come to stand, staring out blankly at what was created. The world was colorful. Vibrant. The trees were alighted with flowerings, blossoms gently rained with every light gust of wind. A child's laughter would delicately ring through the calm atmosphere. The source would be a pair of little girls, one with braided hair the other with piggy tails. Playing with each other. Taking turns climbing up the ladder to go down the slide. Pushing each other on swings. Crossing over the monkey bars. The transitions would not be fluid as that was not necessary for the dreamer. The children would jump cut continually in between activities, all of which they thoroughly enjoyed with wide smiles.
Sitting upon a park bench would be a lesbian couple. One clearly meaning to be another Emiko, the other a water painting blurred concept of the female form. But none the less the two appeared to be fond of one another. Cuddling, hands holding, heads resting upon each other's shoulders. They watched the children with clear love and adoration.
But our Emiko, the dreamer, would find herself standing still in a chilled atmosphere. Where as outside the world of was full of life, the dreamer stood ankle deep within the confounds of a snowglobe. Snow continuously fluttered down from an unknown source as Emiko continued to stare outwards. At the something she was kept so isolated from.

“You said it,” Daniel agreed, not really hearing the words spoken to him. He glanced over at Emiko and discovered that she’d finally reached her limit and had fallen asleep at long last. Damn, but she could drink! He might have been in the same state had there not be a reason for him to actively watch how much he was drinking. There was a certain art to getting drunk without getting absolutely plastered, but it was one that served him well. He rubbed his eyes with his forefinger and thumb. Sobriety was very far out of his reach but he wasn’t so far gone that he couldn’t continue with his plan.
Daniel took a deep breath and exhaled, clearing away some of the haze that was overtaking his mind. He laid his hand lightly on Emiko’s and closed his eyes just a purple shimmer ran across their shining surfaces. He felt himself slowly falling away as he always did when using Nevyne’s blessings.
He opened his eyes again shortly after he the strange sensation of falling dissipated. His subconscious mind new that his eyes weren’t truly open at this point, and that his real body was sleeping soundly with Emiko leaning on his shoulder. This was his dream body, a metaphysical representation of his flesh and blood form. Daniel took the time to stretch and shake his mind partially free of the effects of alcohol long enough to focus. This form was too easily recognized and his task required that he remain an unknown. Thus, his form would begin to shift and twist as Daniel let his familiar body fall away so that he might change his appearance as though trading for a new set of clothes. Wisps of grey mist obscured much of his form though there were many details, such as his new face, that remained perfectly visible.
The transformation was complete within a matter of moment as the scene unfolded around him. Daniel glanced around at the dreamscape, noting the intricacies and subtle details. An ideally peaceful life. That was… unexpected. It struck him as odd that a woman like Emiko would dream of it when she could so easily attain it with her looks and intellect. Even stranger was that the woman seemed… distant from the life. Daniel strolled over to the woman and planted himself a respectful distance away.
“A strange thing peace is. Everyone wishes to obtain it, yet it remains out of reach.”

..... blink blink ..... With a slowed pace the emotionally drained woman gazed sideways towards the newcomer. With lips that touched a blue hue due to the chilled temperature of the snowglobe Emiko would blink again. "Peace ...." The woman would repeat the word softly. "..... Freedom." Would be the second word uttered. Turning her gaze back towards the paradise just outside the glass dome she continued to watch. A thoroughly broken person with an uncharacteristic slouched posture. "I want it so badly ..... This is all I ever wanted ......"

"Then why do you trap yourself here? Daniel asked. "Why separate yourself from the world, from the happiness and joy and freedom you so obviously desire." The man almost surprised himself with how complete the change had been. It was almost as though he were a completely different person. At least it was obvious now that the Great Muse's priest knew what they were talking about.
"What stops you from breaking this glass prison and embracing the life that you wish to lead?"

......... The next turn back towards the stranger would be a quicker one. A glare. Hurt apparent in the eyes. "I didn't know." Emiko choked out, emotions bubbling up within her chest. "I didn't know when I ... I didn't know." Shooting her eyes back to the glass those eyes widened upon seeing the glass beginning to fog. Moving with a desperation Em began rubbing in circular motions with the palm of her hand upon the inside of the glass. She didn't want to lose sight of what she had always wanted. "I didn't -- I didn't know!"

Daniel watched Emi as she desperately fought a losing battle with the frost crawling across the surface of the glass, erasing the warmth of the scene outside. He watched until he could stand it no more and strode forward, resting a hand lightly on the woman's shoulder as he assisted her. He doubted that his efforts would be noticed by the frost but... it helped allay some of his own concerns. He'd all but given up on the thought of having a normal life. His fangs were still sharp and the tang of freshly spilled blood still tasted sweet on his tongue. In the deep recesses of his mind, Daniel knew that he was still as much of a monster has he'd been during his days as a Hunter and always would be. Even if he tried to change, even if he left it all behind, that single, solitary fact would haunt him for the rest of his days.
But if he could change someone's life for the better, then perhaps he could earn his redemption. Maybe then he would find peace of his own and finally be allowed to enjoy the time he had left to him until passing into the next life.

"I didn't know," Emiko swallowed a sob as the snow began falling heavier. "I didn't know." Each flake seemed to double in size. The woman flinched upon feeling the hand on her shoulder. A ducking down, an act that was clearly meant to minimize the damage from someone wishing to do her harm. Instead, after moments of her breathing out plumes of steam, she dared glance up to see the strange being help her. "W- ... why are you helping me?"

"It's simple really," Daniel said. "I want to help you. No one should be trapped like this. No one." He stopped briefly. "But there is something binding you, isn't there? Something that chains you to this place. Render's you unable to leave." He reared back with his fist and struck the glass with everything that he had.
"Something powerful."

The woman shivered numbly as she stared up to the strange being. "...." He wished to help her because no one deserved to be trapped like this. No one. "....." Emi nodded quietly. The shivering not caused by the chilled air but of fear. ".... y-...yes." The woman managed to whisper in but the quietest of voices. More of a barely exhaled breath really. If the atmosphere around them wasn't so deafeningly silent it would easily have gone unheard.

Daniel reared back and struck the glass again with no signs of it breaking. It would've hurt were he trapped in his true body, but here there were no such limitations. Even then, he could tell that the glass would not give easily if at all. Whatever it was that trapped Emiko here was nothing to be trifled with. "There are very few things that could create something so powerful. Gods are the obvious suspect, but I can think of none that would interfere with this realm. None that wouldn't risk war with the Great Muse at least."

Em flinched as she saw the man punch the glass again. Such force. She knew the dome wouldn't budge. No splintering, no cracking. Nothing had any chance of chipping away at it. This was where she was after all. And here she was doomed to stay, just like her adopted father and all those before him. ".... my master is not a god." She would whisper in answer, partially self surprising herself that she could even so those words at all. Another sob rose up her throat as a trembling bottom lip tried so hard as to not release it. A shaking of the head would follow, along with a lowering to her knees, the snow still falling and by now deep enough to cover up her thigh upon sitting upon her knees. "Nothing can help me." The young woman would cry as she hugged herself tightly, the snow taking a cue and falling even heavier.

Daniel kept his hand where it was as he reared back to strike the glass once again, but he stopped in the middle of the motion when he felt his hand falling with Emiko. He let the tension fade from his clenched fist as he looked down upon the weeping woman. He went to a knee after a time and cleared away some of the snow from around her before wrapping her in his embrace. Nothing would be said for a time. Words were not necessary in this moment, only comfort. Daniel would allow the woman to cry and hold onto him if she wished but would not remain silent forever. He would speak when he felt that the shattered thing clutched in his arms had calmed herself.
"It is obvious that you are in pain, that this is not the life that you would choose to live. If your master is not a god, then how is it that he binds you? What is it that he forces upon you that you would live in such a dreadful place.

Cry she did. The embrace, the feeling of being held within strong arms that were not going to let go. They chipped away at the dam until it broke. Violent sobs of a broken woman would commence with every shudder. Despair. The snow would continue to fall, filling up the snowglobe inch by inch over time. She would never fully settle down. There would never truly be a calming or a lull. The sobs would merely soften in their violent delivery. "I a-am!" Emi cried, gripping the man's clothing with a fierceness that left her knuckles white and trembling. "My master is greater than g-gods that fall." The woman would cry, tears crystalizing upon her cheeks. The truth spewing from her in near equivalencies as vomiting them forth considering the physical toll it took on her. "I - I didn't kn-know! I thought it was a - a point of pride! They all spoke so h-highly of it!"
A trembling hand would release to hold her left bicep with a violence that spoke volumes. If she had a choice she'd rip the limb off herself. "It wasn't! It - I'm so fucking miserable!" The dam broke once again as another heave of air rose from her throat. "I hate it! I hate this! I hate it so much! H-He stole me! I'm not e-even --!" The words would get stuck in her throat as another sob broke through.

Greater than gods that fall. Daniel mulled that over in his head while he let Emiko sob and weep into his chest. He scanned the vanishing horizon as the snow continued to fall. This place, the way she spoke, the crushing weight of the ever-falling snow. She was in immense pain, greater than any of his own physical scars. That she managed to live with it at all was a testament to her strength. Then again, she may not have had a choice but to live with it if the way she spoke was any indication.
What sort of arrogance would lead someone to declare themselves greater than gods? What sort of power would let them feel confident in making such a declaration?
He allowed Emi to wallow in her grief up until the point she gripped her arm as though she wanted to rip the limb free of it's proper place. He waited for a moment to think about everything that he'd heard up to this point. Then, he placed a hand gently on Emiko's.
"Who stole you?" he asked softly.

Stricken with heavy shudders those weeping eyes glanced to the hand upon hers. The fierce grip that had been just moments before only now released. Only in her dreams could she ever leave nail imprints in herself anywhere near the tattoo. Through the light material of her dream self's blouse would blood begin to seep through lightly from the nail marks she had so violently made.
Who had stolen her? No one had ever asked that before. No one could have. The words echoed through the snowglobe as they whirled around her mind. How telling dreams were of one's hidden struggles. Those scarlet eyes would raise slowly, streams of tears strolling down her cheeks continuously, a showcasing of her broken self. Someone was asking.
A time of silence would follow as the question settled into the ever falling snow. Em's gaze would be glued onto the other's, her trembling not a sign of cold but of emotional distraught and fear. Both were prevalent in her eyes. "... He did." Came the whisper finally through shivering lips. "My Headmaster .... I didn't know."
