See the line where the sky meets the sea; It calls me. OOC: Thread takes place directly after: this They had made it. When the orphanage had finally come into sight, Surai nearly burst into tears. But she couldn’t. Not yet. They had to get inside and make sure the kids were actually ok. As Surai led the way to the entrance, her thoughts were going a mile a minute. it didn’t look as though anyone had bothered the building yet. It was only an orphanage, after all. There weren’t as many treasures to gain here as there was in the unguarded shops of Camlorn. Whatever the case, Surai’s heart was twisted and cold with apprehension as she reached the orphanage’s doors and began to bang on them desperately while calling out to anyone who might be inside. For a while, no one responded. Surai’s heart hammered heavily in her chest, each thud making itself painfully known. It wasn’t until one of her co-workers carefully peeked out before unlocking the doors to let them in that Surai felt a little less constricted. As Luca, Nasrin, and Private Du Frayne filed in, the entrance was one again shut and barred behind them. Meanwhile, Surai immediately went to check on the kids. Her friends weren’t even given an explanation. Luca might’ve known though, as a swift question of ”Where are they?" left the teacher’s lips. her coworker was quick to escort her and Surai was quick to follow. They ended up leading Surai and the others down into the basement. It was a relatively large one, but it still felt cramped as everyone of the orphanage had been crammed down into the chill cellar. They’re here. Was all that crossed Surai’s mind. They’re safe. With a sigh that quickly transitioned to a sob, Surai fell to her knees to embrace some of the children that ran up to her upon her entering. She embraced them all, dishing out forehead kisses and fierce snuggles to each scared little face and terrified, trembling form. They were all there and safe. Yet clearly the riots were still affecting them. Everyone was terrified. So Surai didn’t have too long to be vulnerable. This wasn’t the time for her to falter. Not now. Not in front of the kids, who were looking towards her and her friends as beacons of hope and protection. I have to be strong. For them. With that mental reminder, she stood and began making her rounds. Fortunately there were a few things stored away in the basement that made things a little easier to distract the children from the terror that was happening above. Old toys and extra crafting supplies. Even an old radio with a list of on-drive stories the kids could listen to. Soon enough most of the younger ones were busying themselves with play. Though everyone was instructed to keep their voices down. Some of them even took it as a game, seeing how quiet they could be. The others, typically the older kids, that weren’t so easily distracted by toys were instead comforted as well as they could be. They weren’t too sure what was going on above, but they knew it was something bad. Something scary. Surai and the fellow workers of the orphanage did their best to reassure them, but there was only so much that could be done when they themselves weren’t quite sure what the future held. Only when the rioting was officially ended could they be certain their kids were safe. But even then, with this new law….. It was something that stirred uncomfortably in the back of Surai’s head. Something that tossed and turned, presenting itself in a new, unflattering light each time. She tried to push it aside for that moment as she found Luca. Most of her time once they had reached the orphanage had been spent with the children. They needed them- their “parents.” Even so, the surajan wanted to make sure those she had come with and those she was working with were alright. ”Luca?" Surai voiced once she got closer. ”Can I speak with you for just a second?"720 WORDS FOR Luca Burke ― have gotten confirmation that the event thread was finished and the group could continue on in time after the event.

[attr="class","ig"] [attr="class","kikan"] With every step they made closer to the orphanage, Luca had felt his dread build under a surge of ‘what if’s. What if the orphanage had been broken into? What if the children were hurt? What if they couldn’t get in? The questions died down one by one eventually, once they were let inside by one of Surai’s coworkers, and had made their way into the basement where everyone seemed to be safe and sound, but the dread remained. Trying to ignore it was useless, but he did attempt to conceal it from view, for the children’s sake. Everyone was scared enough without his help as it was. Instead, he tried to comfort those he could, focusing on the older ones who were wiser to the situation than those who could be distracted with games and toys. They were the ones who needed it most. And truth be told, that comfort was a two way street. He hoped it wasn’t too selfish to want to take advantage of that a bit for himself, too. To that end, he had taken up a post in a corner, in the middle of a small group of the older children as they all clung to or leaned against one another for support. Little was said amongst them, but small gestures in the form of drying tears and tightening hugs made up for the lack of communication. For now, they were alright, and that was what mattered. Several sets of eyes turned to Surai as she approached, and Luca tried to put on a smile when she spoke, but the expression turned into more of a grimace than anything else. “Of course,” he murmured, carefully extracting himself from the young ones. Stepping a bit further away, so their conversation could be afforded what little privacy they could manage, he folded his arms loosely across his chest and looked to his friend questioningly. “What is it?” [newclass=.joker]width: 360px; height: 140px; padding: 20px; background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0); -moz-transition: 3s all; -webkit-transition: 3s all; -o-transition: 3s all; transition: 1s all;[/newclass][newclass=.ig:hover .joker]background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.4); -moz-transition: 3s all; -webkit-transition: 3s all; -o-transition: 3s all; transition: 1s all;[/newclass][newclass=.game]text-align:center; line-height: 9px; margin-top:10px;opacity:0;font:bold 10px Roboto; color: #ffffff; text-transform: uppercase; -webkit-transition-duration:.3s;transition-delay: .3s;transition-duration:.3s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass][newclass=.game a]font:bold 17px Roboto; font-weight: 900; color: #ffffff;[/newclass][newclass=.ig:hover .game]margin-top:0px;opacity:1;transition-delay: .3s; -webkit-transition-duration:.3s;transition-duration:.3s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass][newclass=.ninety]width:400px;height:180px;background-image:url(http://i.imgur.com/VcCe39g.jpg?1);[/newclass] [newclass=.kikan]width: 65px; height: 65px; border: 1px solid #0; transform: rotate(45deg); z-index: 2; margin-top: -27px; margin-bottom: -39px; filter: grayscale(100%);-webkit-filter: grayscale(100%);-moz-filter: grayscale(100%);[/newclass][newclass=.ig:hover .kikan]filter: grayscale(0%);-webkit-filter: grayscale(0%);-moz-filter: grayscale(0%); transition: 0.6s; transition-timing-function: linear;[/newclass][googlefont=Roboto][googlefont=Open+Sans]

See the line where the sky meets the sea; It calls me. A smile, genuine if small, came to Surai’s face seeing Luca with the kids. There would definitely be no doubt about him being able to work with the orphanage after this. But that wasn’t something she was going to bring up. Not right now. She was more concerned with how Luca was currently doing. There wasn’t really a “private” place they could go to discuss things, but Surai led him off a little ways into a spot that would be good enough. it wasn’t like she was telling him a secret or anything. She was just concerned for her friend. ”I just wanted to check in with you after…after all that. You’re doing a great job helping the kids calm down." And her eyes were once again drawn towards the group Luca had been helping. They seemed a little better now, but it was hard not to be worried at a time like this. ”But, well…. we went through a lot to get here." It definitely wasn’t a common occurrence for Surai to be staring down the barrel of a gun (and she sincerely hoped it would never become a common occurrence). ”Plus the law…..The law had passed. Surai wished she believed people weren’t really so stupid to agree or accept such a foolish thing. But she’d seen enough chaos and mayhem back home to know that people were capable of doing really foolish and scary things when they felt threatened. Now Ethea’s government was apparently acting the same. ”I….I’m sorry, Luca. For what it’s worth." The teach said quietly, her voice sincere. ”Magi don’t deserve this. You’ve already been through so much…." Luca certainly had, that was for sure. But all of magi-kind had as well. It wasn’t really known which Surai was referring to with that sentence. The law itself was bothering her to no end, but there was something else as well on her mind. She glanced back towards the children huddled in the basement. Some of them human, but others were magi. What would happen to them now? What chaos and hostility was this law going to cause? Well they had already seen some of the backlash just passing it had done. How tense were things going to be now? ”And I’m…worried for the kids now. With this law I just….." She trailed off uncertainly. Now, more than ever, she wished she could speak to Baba. She wanted some guidance to make sure her little najmas would be alright. 452 WORDS FOR Luca Burke ― I can't let them get hurt from this. I won't.

[attr="class","ig"] [attr="class","kikan"] Almost unconscious of the action, Luca brought his arms up to hold himself loosely as Surai spoke, expressing much-appreciated concern. “I…” He tried a second time, but found he couldn’t muster up a proper smile just then. “Thank you. I think they might be doing a little better…” Deep blue eyes flicked toward the older children he had left behind, and to others who were being tended to by the orphanage staff… Then back to Surai. “We did…” A lot to get here it had been, and yet he couldn’t help but think of those who might still be stuck out in the riots somewhere, hurt, or dying, or… His eyes squeezed shut to try banishing the images his mind conjured, but that only seemed to make them clearer. His grip at his elbows tightened, and eyes fell to the floor. “It’s not your fault…” None of this was a result of what Surai had done, or failed to do. And the was right; no magi deserved any of this. But what could they do about it now…? Unsure of what to say, Luca watched his friend quietly, gauging the worry on her face as she looked over her wards. She was right to be worried. Very much so. He was, too. But a solution… The zero magi paused momentarily as an idea struck, considering the thing carefully before he said anything more. “… I don’t think they should stay here,” Luca began, slow and careful. The children were not safe here, especially the magi. “The human kids might be alright, once the riots end, but… the rest…” He shook his head, knowing Surai was more than capable of filling in the blanks. See the line where the sky meets the sea; It calls me. Concern flit across Surai’s face as Luca shut his eyes. Oh Luca… The man had been through so much already. Having a gun shoved into his face surely wasn’t helping him much. The teacher was nearly overcome with the urge to reach out and pull the man into a warm embrace- like she would for one of her distressed kids. But despite all their progress, she wasn’t too sure how he’d do with physical contact. So while she did reach out, it was slow and hesitant as she placed a hand lightly on his shoulder and gave it a squeeze to convey her silent support. But she dropped the hand swiftly. Soon after they both lapsed into silence until Luca spoke up. Blue eyes filled to the brim with worry and hints of exhaustion turned towards Luca. And as he pointed out what Surai already feared, the exhaustion got worse. Along with her racing thoughts. ”The rest will have to deal with being scrutinized by every officer that passes them." The teacher finished, rubbing her face wearily as she muttered the words. ”And being treated like possible criminals on top of being judged for merely existing. Something they couldn’t even control." Plus there were even worse implications. Possibly harmful ones to her children. She hadn’t run through a riot to protect her kids only to see them get hurt by ignorant and hateful scum. ”Camlorn isn’t particularly bad." Surai finally said after standing there for a moment. She moved her face out of her hand, glancing back to the rest of the basement dwellers. ”Not in comparison to the other cities. But it’ll still be bad. And I don’t want my little najmas being exposed to the spiteful hatred of these….these…." For a brief moment a look of anger flashed across Surai’s face at the thought. She muttered something under her breath in surajan and shook her head. Now wasn’t the time to get angry. They needed a plan. Blue eyes turned back to Luca. ”…..I don’t think they should stay here either." She finally agreed, sorrow filling her gaze at the admission. ”As much as I wish it weren’t true, they would probably be safer away from here. But to move all of them is just….And where would they even go? We can’t just march them out and have them live in the Plains. Plus I’m sure the other cities would be just as bad, if not worse. And getting this many across the border would be…."

[attr="class","ig"] [attr="class","kikan"] Just for a second, Luca looked up at Surai as her hand settled on his shoulder. The gesture spoke volumes, and for the few moments it lasted, provided a sense of comfort not unlike the one he’d been trying to convey to the children. He just wished it could have lasted a little longer, especially with where their conversation was going. He spoke no further as the woman filled in what he had left hanging, describing a picture he had hoped would never come to pass before today. Now they all knew better, but it still hurt to think of it. So many lives had been changed, young and old… Unsurprisingly, though, Surai didn’t seem aware of the place Luca had in mind, as her suggestions each missed the mark entirely. Camlorn hadn’t been as bad, it was true, but given how the riots had reached even this quiet town, he doubted that would remain so. The other cities and crossing the border to another country, of course, were out of the question too. As his friend had moments ago, Luca reached out when he saw the flash of anger in her face, hand resting lightly on her arm. It wasn't much of an anchor, but he hoped the small gesture might help, as hers had him. “There’s… somewhere else we could go,” he began softly, casting his gaze out over the room. “It’s a long way to get there, but it’s away from the other cities, and… everything else.” The riots, the prejudice, the Hunters… all of it. “They’ll be safer there than anywhere else in Ethea. And… I can… I can show you how to reach it.” [newclass=.joker]width: 360px; height: 140px; padding: 20px; background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0); -moz-transition: 3s all; -webkit-transition: 3s all; -o-transition: 3s all; transition: 1s all;[/newclass][newclass=.ig:hover .joker]background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.4); -moz-transition: 3s all; -webkit-transition: 3s all; -o-transition: 3s all; transition: 1s all;[/newclass][newclass=.game]text-align:center; line-height: 9px; margin-top:10px;opacity:0;font:bold 10px Roboto; color: #ffffff; text-transform: uppercase; -webkit-transition-duration:.3s;transition-delay: .3s;transition-duration:.3s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass][newclass=.game a]font:bold 17px Roboto; font-weight: 900; color: #ffffff;[/newclass][newclass=.ig:hover .game]margin-top:0px;opacity:1;transition-delay: .3s; -webkit-transition-duration:.3s;transition-duration:.3s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass][newclass=.ninety]width:400px;height:180px;background-image:url(http://i.imgur.com/VcCe39g.jpg?1);[/newclass] [newclass=.kikan]width: 65px; height: 65px; border: 1px solid #0; transform: rotate(45deg); z-index: 2; margin-top: -27px; margin-bottom: -39px; filter: grayscale(100%);-webkit-filter: grayscale(100%);-moz-filter: grayscale(100%);[/newclass][newclass=.ig:hover .kikan]filter: grayscale(0%);-webkit-filter: grayscale(0%);-moz-filter: grayscale(0%); transition: 0.6s; transition-timing-function: linear;[/newclass][googlefont=Roboto][googlefont=Open+Sans]

See the line where the sky meets the sea; It calls me. The reciprocated gesture helped draw Surai’s mind away from her anger. She placed her own hand on top of Luca’s and squeezed it again; silently thanking him and keeping it there. As Luca began speaking, Surai’s expression turned curious. hat was he talking about? Somewhere away from all of this? Did he mean… Well Surai had heard rumors of a place in Ethea where magi could be safe. Only rumors, but when you worked daily with magi you were bound to hear a few things. Still, if Luca was serious and this place really did exist… Surai took the hand on her shoulder into her own, holding it between the two. She didn’t want to get her hopes up too much just yet, only for them to be dashed. Yet she desperately wanted to believe there was a place her children could be safe. ”Luca…" She began slowly. Little inklings of hope were arising in her expression through the weariness and sadness there. ”Are you sure? Because I do want the kids to be safe-" More than anything really. ”-But if… if you’re talking about what I think you might be then… I wouldn’t want us to upset anyone bringing all these kids in. And we would need a few of the other co-workers to come along, so that means others might then know. Would that be ok?" Because if it really was, and they could get the children to a place where they wouldn't have to worry about the law or the prejudice ever again, then Surai would jump at the opportunity. And if Luca really did confirm it, then Surai knew they had to act. "We'll need to speak with my boss before doing anything else. Because we're going to need some form of transportation to get all our kids over there. I don't think walking the whole way would be a good idea. We could possibly rent out a bus or two. Then talk with some of the other staff to see who would be willing to go. Of course we'd have to keep some here to watch over the rest; we can't all go." The woman was already rattling off, her mind going a mile per minute as she tried figuring out what steps they would need to take to ensure the journey would go as smoothly as possible. 420 WORDS FOR Luca Burke ― If you really mean this...

[attr="class","ig"] [attr="class","kikan"] A gentle squeeze was given to match Surai’s when her hand settled over his, and then again when she took it between both of hers, where it was soon joined by the other. “I’m sure,” Luca answered her, still relatively grim, but sounding more confident now than she had perhaps heard since they’d first met. “It… it was built to be a safe haven, to take in refugees… I don’t think anyone will mind.” He paused for a moment, thinking, then added, “As long as they can be trusted, it should be fine.” Not that he was particularly worried about that bit, of course. Though he didn’t know them as well as Surai, the rest of the workers at the orphanage seemed like good people. And bringing a couple others along with them would definitely help. Nodding along as his friend launched into talk of preparation, Luca would add his voice to the beginnings of the plan where necessary. “Some buses would be good, but we won’t be able to take them the whole way. There won’t be any roads for them, once we near the end. We’ll need a few day’s worth of rations for everyone, too. And…” His eyes cast out over the room, picking out certain individuals among the other staff members. “It would probably be good if any other workers we brought along were also magi.” They might be better trusted in Haven, that way, although if it came down to it, he would do everything he could to ensure Surai was properly welcomed there, too. See the line where the sky meets the sea; It calls me. Surai nodded her head. Initially her first thought was that ’of course they could be trusted. But immediately after she knew that cautious was good to have even now. Because, after all, this was giving away a very big secret. If Luca was serious- and he completely seemed to be- then this was something very important to magi. And soon her kids. They would have to pick people especially for this, and already Surai’s brain was racing through those of her fellow coworkers who were the most trustworthy. Preferably magi staff to cause the least amount of issues. ”That should be fine. We could contact the company now while we’re stuck down here. They know us so it shouldn’t pose too much of an issue. As for food though…" All that was upstairs, and it still felt a little too soon to be walking around up there so close to when the riots started. Was it still going on? Were looters still out there? They needed to be safe. ”We can pack up some food to prepare for a longer journey. Though we might have to wait until later today to be able to do that. We want to make sure no fighting is going on before we start having multiple people head back up to the surface. But we will need to go up there. For food and for…"Surai trailed off for a second as she realized. Her eyes drifted over to her kids. All of them huddled down there in the basement, trying to get and give as much comfort to one another as possible. They really had become something of a family- which was exactly what Surai and her coworkers had wanted. To give the kids the experience of a loving, happy family that they should have had. But now… ”…For the kids to get their things." The teacher continued on softly. Her heart was positively aching now; it’s dull thumps bringing a sorrowful pain with each beat. Their family was being split apart. For a moment, the hurt of that realization was freely displayed across the woman’s features. The pure regret and anguish of having to pull these kids away from yet another family. But soon it was covered up. Sorrow replaced with steely resolve and stubborn determination. This was no time to mope. As much as it pained her- positively stabbed her through the heart- she knew this was best for them. They had to do this. ”I will talk with my coworkers about who will be going. While I trust everyone here," Her eyes turned back to Luca: watery but not leaking, ”I think it would be easier for those living…there if it was mainly magi coming. No one here wants to put that place at risk of being discovered. Especially if it’s going to house our kids now." That much she could be completely certain of. ”I will be coming along though." She said firmly, in a voice that brooked no argument though she doubted Luca would. ”I want to make sure that my little namjas have all the accommodations they could need and get settled in once we get there. I imagine it’s going to be….hard for them to transfer to a brand new place and say goodbye to most of their friends. We need to make it as close to home for them as possible."595 WORDS FOR Luca Burke ― Then we need to plan and act.

[attr="class","ig"] [attr="class","kikan"] Surai seemed to have a good grasp on what all they needed to do— better than his own, actually, given her familiarity with how the orphanage was run behind the scenes— so Luca left her to begin working through further details of the preparations to come in silence. Occasionally, he nodded his understanding. Other times, he took a moment to watch the woman’s expression, and get a read on what else might be going through her head. As it was, it wasn’t hard to see the hurt beginning to build behind her eyes. As much as taking the young magi from here might help them, they were still her kids. It would be hard for everyone to see them go, and Luca was almost painfully aware of that. To risk them getting hurt by keeping them here, even after the riots were over, was practically out of the question. In the long run, this would be better. Even so, if he was allowed, Luca would step forward to pull Surai into a brief, one-armed hug, as his other hand was still caught between hers. There was a mournful sense of finality that seemed to have fallen over her, and to a degree he felt it as well. Not that it was allowed to last. There was work to be done, after all. “Of course you’re coming,” he spoke at last, smiling wanly. That Surai was to accompany the others on their journey hadn’t even been a question in his mind. “We’re going to need your help. And…” And she’d have a little more time before she had to say goodbye to her kids. “Just let me know what I need to do to help.” [newclass=.joker]width: 360px; height: 140px; padding: 20px; background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0); -moz-transition: 3s all; -webkit-transition: 3s all; -o-transition: 3s all; transition: 1s all;[/newclass][newclass=.ig:hover .joker]background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.4); -moz-transition: 3s all; -webkit-transition: 3s all; -o-transition: 3s all; transition: 1s all;[/newclass][newclass=.game]text-align:center; line-height: 9px; margin-top:10px;opacity:0;font:bold 10px Roboto; color: #ffffff; text-transform: uppercase; -webkit-transition-duration:.3s;transition-delay: .3s;transition-duration:.3s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass][newclass=.game a]font:bold 17px Roboto; font-weight: 900; color: #ffffff;[/newclass][newclass=.ig:hover .game]margin-top:0px;opacity:1;transition-delay: .3s; -webkit-transition-duration:.3s;transition-duration:.3s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass][newclass=.ninety]width:400px;height:180px;background-image:url(http://i.imgur.com/VcCe39g.jpg?1);[/newclass] [newclass=.kikan]width: 65px; height: 65px; border: 1px solid #0; transform: rotate(45deg); z-index: 2; margin-top: -27px; margin-bottom: -39px; filter: grayscale(100%);-webkit-filter: grayscale(100%);-moz-filter: grayscale(100%);[/newclass][newclass=.ig:hover .kikan]filter: grayscale(0%);-webkit-filter: grayscale(0%);-moz-filter: grayscale(0%); transition: 0.6s; transition-timing-function: linear;[/newclass][googlefont=Roboto][googlefont=Open+Sans]

See the line where the sky meets the sea; It calls me. The hug was entirely unexpected. Hadn’t she just been wondering if it would have been alright to give Luca one? Yet here he was, initiating the embrace. One that Surai didn’t realize she needed until it had been offered. She only hesitated for a moment before she dropped his hand to actually hug him back properly. She buried her face into his shoulder. Inhale. Exhale. It came out shakier than she would have liked. There was a subtle tremor to her body that was quickly stilled. She was hurt. Deeply hurt. Her body wanted nothing more than to express just how much its heart was aching. But she couldn’t cry; not here and not now. There was so much work to be done and they all needed to be strong. She needed to be strong. For her kids. For her kids. So the moment of weakness was made only temporary. No tears managed to escape her eyes as she moved her head to rest it on Luca’s shoulder instead. She could at least smile a little at the fact he wasn’t arguing about her going. She hadn’t expected one but still; the agreement was nice. She simply had to. Had to. ”Good.” She said with a shaky little laugh. Though now she pulled her head back so she could look her friend in the eyes. It was amazing, the changes Luca had gone through. When they first met he could barely look her in the eye. Now here he was hugging her and helping her save her family. Her smile grew just a little stronger. Thank you, Baba. She thought. ”Just help our kids." The teacher replied simply. ”You’re wonderful with them, and right now what they need more than anything in the world is comfort. Especially if we’re going to be doing this. I’ll take care of everything else." With that promise made, she pulled the man back in for one last squeeze before she had to slip away. ”And thank you, Luca. Was the last thing she said with heartfelt sincerity before going into action. The first few hours were spent mainly tending to the orphans. they couldn’t do too much yet considering they were still afraid to go upstairs. But Surai started to lay the groundwork of the plan by conversing with the other workers. They would need to get upstairs and immediately start preparing for the journey. Her boss was understanding of the situation, and even called the bus company himself to get them set on an emergency notice. The whole staff worked in tandem, and Surai had to say she was impressed by and blessed to have each and every one of them. Though there was definitely a mournful feeling passing between each, their children’s safety came first. They were going to do this and do it right so it would never happen again. Eventually it started to get later in the evening. Late enough that they felt it was safe to start sending larger waves of people upstairs. They still weren’t quite as comfortable having the children stay upstairs, so there was an impromptu sleepover called for. Only now, half the kids weren’t going to be there. It was… heart wrenching, to say the least. Standing there having to announced the plan to the children with her friends, Surai felt tears come to her eyes once again. Because there were certainly tears among their audience. These weren’t just their friends being taken away; this was their family. It took an hour before everyone could say their goodbyes. Even then, it didn’t feel quite done. There were promises and assurances made that they would see each other again and keep in touch, but truthfully Surai and the others weren’t exactly sure what to expect once they got to their destination. Surely their kids could still talk with each other, right? Surai would at least try her hardest to make sure of it. The march to the buses- having been brought in despite Camlorn’s current state due to a strong friendship and understanding between her boss and the company’s owner- was a solemn one. Not a single face was smiling. But after the madness of the riots… they understood. They shouldn’t have to, though. Surai thought as she helped usher the leaving group into the vehicles. They shouldn’t have to be doing any of this. But life had a funny way of not caring. So there she was getting the children ready to be moved. Other staffers were helping as well- a handful of men and women (mainly magi) who had agreed to come along. The rest were staying back at the orphanage to look after and tend to the others. They would definitely need it now. Once they were all in, Surai followed suit and let her other worker call names. She was seated up towards the front, where she’d be able to see where they were going. Which meant Luca was going to be sitting with her as well. ”You’re going to have to point the way and give directions on where we’re going.” She informed him once they were loaded up. She reached out to give one of his hands a squeeze. Her eyes were slightly red from tears that had managed to shed themselves, but the water had been wiped away. ”Ready?"

[attr="class","ig"] [attr="class","kikan"] Taking care of the kids was definitely something Luca was capable of, and for the time it took to get everything assembled for the trip from Camlorn, that was exactly what he did. Every tear, every scared face, every hint of uncertainty he did his best to soothe, even more so after their plan was announced to the rest of the orphanage. For his part, he did his best to uphold a brave face, but he’d have been lying to say that this didn’t leave his heart aching too. By the end of it all, it felt like the knot in his throat would be there permanently. That he’d even been able to say his goodbyes with the rest felt like a miracle, as talking around it had been almost as painful as the heartbreak itself. He hated this. Hated having to split up the loving family that had so graciously taken him in. But it meant the family would survive, even in pieces. That was better than nothing. In the darkness of the night, Luca was among the last to step onto the bus, having remained to ensure the children had all boarded first. When he did enter, he followed after Surai, taking the seat next to her in solemn quiet. As she reached out, his fingers closed around hers, returning the gentle squeeze. “Ready,” he half croaked, swiping at his eyes as he forced himself to look ahead through the windshield. “… We need to go north, and a little east. Until we reach the edge of the Arecia Woods.”[newclass=.joker]width: 360px; height: 140px; padding: 20px; background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0); -moz-transition: 3s all; -webkit-transition: 3s all; -o-transition: 3s all; transition: 1s all;[/newclass][newclass=.ig:hover .joker]background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.4); -moz-transition: 3s all; -webkit-transition: 3s all; -o-transition: 3s all; transition: 1s all;[/newclass][newclass=.game]text-align:center; line-height: 9px; margin-top:10px;opacity:0;font:bold 10px Roboto; color: #ffffff; text-transform: uppercase; -webkit-transition-duration:.3s;transition-delay: .3s;transition-duration:.3s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass][newclass=.game a]font:bold 17px Roboto; font-weight: 900; color: #ffffff;[/newclass][newclass=.ig:hover .game]margin-top:0px;opacity:1;transition-delay: .3s; -webkit-transition-duration:.3s;transition-duration:.3s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass][newclass=.ninety]width:400px;height:180px;background-image:url(http://i.imgur.com/VcCe39g.jpg?1);[/newclass] [newclass=.kikan]width: 65px; height: 65px; border: 1px solid #0; transform: rotate(45deg); z-index: 2; margin-top: -27px; margin-bottom: -39px; filter: grayscale(100%);-webkit-filter: grayscale(100%);-moz-filter: grayscale(100%);[/newclass][newclass=.ig:hover .kikan]filter: grayscale(0%);-webkit-filter: grayscale(0%);-moz-filter: grayscale(0%); transition: 0.6s; transition-timing-function: linear;[/newclass][googlefont=Roboto][googlefont=Open+Sans]

See the line where the sky meets the sea; It calls me. Surai nodded before turning to their driver and conveying the directions to him as well. It was going to be a long journey for sure. But as she gave Luca a small side hug for support (for him and for her), she could at least rest easy on one thing: they were going to make sure their kids were safe. The travel towards the hidden haven was indeed a long one. There as a certain downtrodden air about the buses and their occupants that clung. Considering the violence and consequences that had just transpired within Camlorn, it made sense. That didn’t mean no one tried to lighten the mood somewhat. Once everyone woke up the next morning (with a pit stop for gas, bathrooms, and other things), Surai and the other staff tried their best to kept spirits up. or at least as up as they were going to be. It was hard trying to entertain a crowd of saddened faces, but damn if they didn’t try. They played games, sang songs, and did anything they could to crack a smile. For a time it even worked some. If Surai could just convincing herself for the ride that this was some field trip rather than a one-stop voyage for the children, then she could get through it a little easier. At least until they reached their destination. Though she still found herself having trouble falling asleep as the silence surrounded her and gave her space to think. Already she knew she was going to be a mess by the time this all was over. Already, she didn’t care. After what felt like an eternity but was actually fairly fast considering they barely stopped other than bathroom breaks and getting gas, they arrived. Though then they were going to have to walk the rest of the way, which was going to be challenging as well. But walk they did, with Luca taking the lead for this once again. The further they went, the more Surai’s mind buzzed. How were they going to be received? Would they be received at all? They had brought the least amount of humans they could, but even then would that be too much? They didn’t want to make any enemies here. Especially if their kids were going to be staying here. She couldn’t help but ask: ”Luca….How do you think they’re going to react to this?" Worry had been sitting with her this whole journey. It weighed on her like a load of bricks. 447 WORDS FOR Luca Burke ― We'll be alright, right?

[attr="class","ig"] [attr="class","kikan"] For the first half of the trip, while everyone still had the luxury of riding the buses, their journey almost felt short. After so many treks to Haven and back on foot, it seemed like they practically flew past every landmark he directed them to. But as odd as the feeling was, faster was most definitely better. It meant they could leave the riots behind, along with the usual dangers of the open road. Thankfully, there was daylight by the time they reached the edge of the forest, otherwise Luca would have had everyone wait until at least sunrise before heading in. Even alone, he wouldn’t have traveled the woods at night, so he certainly wasn’t going to risk the safety of the children with them. Fortunately, Arecia seemed peacefully quiet as they walked, aside from whatever noise their group was making. However, Luca himself remained quiet overall, except to redirect the others when necessary, and only spoke something other than new directions when Surai approached him. It would have been nearly impossible to miss the woman’s worry, both in her features and voice, but he couldn’t blame her for it, all things considered. “I don’t think anyone will mind,” Luca answered gently, trying on a soft smile. “They might be a little surprised, but…” He paused, glancing back at all the young magi following them. “… These aren’t the first refugees Haven has had. They’ll be taken in and cared for, given a place to stay.” Tentatively, he reached to rest a reassuring hand on Surai’s shoulder for a moment. “It’ll be alright.” Or, at least, as alright as it could be. It was getting later in the day by the time Luca caught sight of the signs they were getting close to their destination. “Just a little further,” he would communicate quietly to Surai and the other caretakers. And eventually, the wall of trees surrounding them thinned, revealing the outskirts of a city built into the earth and the trees of the forest, and bustling with magi of every shape and size. Despite the grim nature of their task, the zero magi found himself smiling at the familiar sight. “We’re here,” he said, glancing back at the others. Stepping ahead of the group, he would head toward a building closest to the edge of the woods, from which a couple magi had already emerged, approaching curiously. Luca would meet them halfway, quickly explaining the situation to the pair before making a simple request; “Could… could someone go find Elijah Kingsley, please?” [newclass=.joker]width: 360px; height: 140px; padding: 20px; background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0); -moz-transition: 3s all; -webkit-transition: 3s all; -o-transition: 3s all; transition: 1s all;[/newclass][newclass=.ig:hover .joker]background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.4); -moz-transition: 3s all; -webkit-transition: 3s all; -o-transition: 3s all; transition: 1s all;[/newclass][newclass=.game]text-align:center; line-height: 9px; margin-top:10px;opacity:0;font:bold 10px Roboto; color: #ffffff; text-transform: uppercase; -webkit-transition-duration:.3s;transition-delay: .3s;transition-duration:.3s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass][newclass=.game a]font:bold 17px Roboto; font-weight: 900; color: #ffffff;[/newclass][newclass=.ig:hover .game]margin-top:0px;opacity:1;transition-delay: .3s; -webkit-transition-duration:.3s;transition-duration:.3s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass][newclass=.ninety]width:400px;height:180px;background-image:url(http://i.imgur.com/VcCe39g.jpg?1);[/newclass] [newclass=.kikan]width: 65px; height: 65px; border: 1px solid #0; transform: rotate(45deg); z-index: 2; margin-top: -27px; margin-bottom: -39px; filter: grayscale(100%);-webkit-filter: grayscale(100%);-moz-filter: grayscale(100%);[/newclass][newclass=.ig:hover .kikan]filter: grayscale(0%);-webkit-filter: grayscale(0%);-moz-filter: grayscale(0%); transition: 0.6s; transition-timing-function: linear;[/newclass][googlefont=Roboto][googlefont=Open+Sans]

You have brought with you many many children @_@ Nothin' else seems to hurt like the smile on your face The request asked of him was an odd one. Usually people who knew him knew he busied himself in his work. If they wished to visit, all they had to do was pass the security checkpoints at the city's border and then stop by his home for whatever chats or food they wished to share. However this apparently was not a short catch-me-up visit. Not by a long shot. The name Luca Burke of course was familiar. But the hearing of his numerous entourage was not.
Hence why he'd risen from his desk and had walked all the way to the border security checkpoint in question. "That many?" Elijah would ask the MLM agent walking along side him as they neared their destination.
"Yes, sir. And there seems to be a human in the numbers as well."
"Child or adult?"
"Adult, sir."
"Hm." The hushed talk would silence as they made it to the gate. Elijah would listen for the familiar voice and if it did not make itself known, Elijah would be the first to initiate conversation so as to find his source of communication. Answers would be nice to obtain given the circumstances. "Luca Burke?" He'd call, waiting to get a response so that Elijah could walk up to the voice and smile, offering the smaller man a hug after crossing through the high security gate. "It's been so long, my friend. It's good to hear from you."
Upon releasing the zero magi Elijah would tap his foot once, turning his head to face the larger number of tinier feet that the vibrations informed him on. "But I see you do not come alone."
