Personality overall
Surai is a very loving individual who is nonetheless just as likely to throw a quip as she is to be nice. The woman’s got a big heart but she tends to be free-spirited and only give the major benefits of her loving nature to those she deems worth it. To be honest she’s kind of difficult to explain.
In general she’s a very kind woman. Being a grade school teacher gives her an above-average patience to deal with others. Though it’s best witnessed when she’s dealing with her kids. Who, by the way, she utterly adores. The children she looks after and teaches experience the full force of her motherly nature. She’s always willing to encourage them and correct them in the gentlest ways possible. However that isn’t to say she’s a pushover; if rules need to be laid out then you better bet she’s going to slam those down before a behavior becomes a bigger issue. Not to say she doesn’t allow mistakes, but she isn’t about to let her kids run completely wild and unresponsive either. Manners are best taught early, people. Allows for less rude people in the world.
Some people she considers close friends can also get a similar sort of treatment. She’s the type who’d be just as happy staying at home reading a book as she would be going out with friends for a loud and tipsy karaoke night. It just takes getting to that level with her. While she’s fairly approachable and generally kind-mannered, she picks and chooses her “best” friends carefully. She’s got a lot riding on her plate. If she can’t see herself completely unwinding around someone and destressing rather than stressing in interactions with the person, it’s highly probably she’ll only regard them as a normal friend. Which is still nice, but definitely not the same.
Close friends will also know that she has her dark side too. There’s a simmering temper lurking below the surface. Depending on the subject she can either keep it back or burst immediately. Sometimes it can be a coin-toss, and when it bursts- oh boy, you best not be on the other end. Along with this she can often distance herself from others or become flat out cold in certain situations. It can be a little unnerving to see one usually smiling lose every ounce of expression in their face. Worst part is that it’s usually to deal with her own inner debates and turmoils. Not that she’d ever admit or detail those to anyone easily.
[PTab=APPEARANCE]
locked away in permanent slumber
appearance
Surai is a proud product of wonderous Surajan genetics.
She, much like her sisters, inherited the dark brown hair of her mother. It’s a staple for the Bazzi family not only because of the color, but because of its texture. Her hair is wicked soft no matter what state it’s in. Bedhead? Hat hair? Wind ruffled? Doesn’t matter: it’ll still feel silk running through a person’s fingers. It’s a trait Surai is particularly proud of mainly because it draws attention from her kids. She’s also proud of her light blue eyes- she managed to get her mother’s color instead of her father’s brown (though it’s a lovely color itself, as she’s assured him a few times). As for the rest of her features, she’s more of a mix between her parents. She ended up with her mother’s jawline, her father’s nose, and her father’s cheekbones. Overall she’s pretty happy with what she’s got.
Physique wise Surai is no delicate, dainty little thing- in fact none of the members of her family are. Standing at 5’9” Surai is well filled out with both muscles and curves. Her parents didn’t raise no slouch; she exercises when she can get the time (though she’d argue that dealing with her kids is exercise enough some days). Her skin color is a lovely mocha that doesn’t have too many blemishes. Though she does have a curious scattering of dark freckles across the back of her shoulder blades. Plus on the inside of her left wrist she has a small tattoo.
Fashion
Surai has two different sets of outfits: work and play. Her work clothes mainly consist of slacks, skirts, and blouses she finds comfortably enough to teach in. Nothing overly flashy really. As for her “play” clothes it’s literally the most comfortable articles of clothing she can muster. Which means it can range from skirts to jeans to jackets to hoodies and so on and so forth. Really, her outfits are everchanging. Though she does tend to favor the color blue.

biography
You’d think at this point I’d get tired of writing these.
Surai was born the second child to Nassor and Ragab Bazzi in Pentos. Born into poverty, the family really didn’t have an easy time of making a living. Especially given that their home town wasn’t exactly the best place to make a living. After most people relocated to the new capital and took much of their things with them, the city became a cesspool of criminal activity and danger. It was definitely not a cozy existence. Even so, Surai doesn’t look back on those days with much regret. Sure the days were fraught with danger here and there, but at least she had her family.
Nassor and Ragab were very loving parents to their children. While they couldn’t provide much in the form of material goods, they made up for it with affection and dedication to their children. With what little money they could scrounged up they made sure their children got some form of education still available within the city. And when Surai began to show signs of being a seer at a young age, they weren’t terrified. They instead saw it as a gift sent by one of the gods and that she shouldn’t fear the ability but embrace it. It was out of her control, of course, but she had her family backing her up every step of the way. To this day she feels indebted to each and every one of her family members for being so accepting of something others might have simply chalked down to insanity.
They weren’t the only ones to help her out though.
When Surai’s abilities as a seer first began to manifest, she suddenly found herself being frequently visited by a special friend: A big grey owl she affectionately called Baba. At first she thought he was just an imaginary friend- owls didn’t live in Pentos. The only few she’d ever seen were pictures and even those were scarce. “Baba” was one of her very best friends, and the only one that really seemed to understand just what she was seeing when her visions came upon her. It was nice to have someone around that did. Much as her parents were supportive, they still didn’t really know exactly what was going on. She did end up deducing that “Baba” was actually real because, well, you shouldn’t be able to hug and actually feel your imaginary friends.
Baba did a lot more than just teach her about about her abilities. He was also there for her in times of stress. Because of her family’s poverty they were already on a tight budget. Plus Pentos was still not exactly the best place to be and it only seemed to be getting worse. To be able to move and have Surai pursue her dream of becoming a teacher, the Bazzi family got really busy. Each family member took up a job of some sort. Everyone had to work in order for any of this to happen. It was a fairly stressful time in not only Surai’s life but her siblings’. Surai even put her education on hold for a year solely to help raise more money. They all did.
Through thick and thin the family finally made enough to move out to another town and settle there. They had enough to afford a slightly better life and Surai could go on to get her highschool education. Once that was over with, Surai was approached by “Baba” once more. By this point she’d already done a bit of thinking herself. So when she found out it was really Irilys, the young woman wasn’t too horribly surprised. Awed, of course, but it was still the same owl who’d stayed with her all those years and consoled her in her darkest moments. So when Irilys offered her a position joining a secret society under his tutelage, there wasn’t much hesitation at all.
Surai became a member of the Vicis Crux that day.
Though that didn’t mean her personal life was over. Still working hard, the young woman continued to pursue her goal of becoming a teacher herself. She loved learning new things and wanted to pass on that feeling to others as well. Apparently the rest of her siblings had the same kind of drive, because by the end of the day they all were pursuing their degrees to teach. The only exception was Hesso, who’d already worked his way into a manager position with his job due to hard work and dedication. Until his family was in a better place financially he was content to keep doing what he had been. Meanwhile Ameriah ended up marrying the two people she loved most (outside of her family of course). Moustafa and Bebti had been with the family since Pentos. In a bad place with their own families, they ended up assimilating themselves into the Bazzi’s. Surai couldn’t have been more happy for her sister. Plus it helped that the two were already like family anyways and had helped the family move out to their new home. Tania also eventually found love, though it came later after the trio had graduated. A water magi from Ikigai had traveled over to Suraja. The two had met in work, slowly started dating, and the rest was history.
Surai’s other “job” also called for her attention from time to time. She had to learn her duties from the other members of Vicis Crux and Irilys himself. Plus she had to enact those duties from time to time. Though she learned plenty there downsides to the job as well. She’d been warned of this of course, and shouldered the burdens as she had to. There were times of stress. There were times of elation. But she couldn’t say she ever regretted taking “Baba” up on the offer. She was there to stay.
Surai did end up getting her wish. She became a grade school teacher, though she moved to Ethea as per her god’s instructions. Apparently she was going to be needed there for something, so off she went. The teacher ended up in Camlorn where she remains to this day. When she’s not dealing with issues of the Vicis Crux, she’s teaching her children or helping out at the local orphanage. While she has no children of her own, she’s essentially adopted her students and the orphans. Honestly she’s more happy now than she ever had been before. Though she does visit her family from time to time; she still loves them with all her heart after all.

THEIR GNASHING TEETH AND CRIMINAL TONGUES CONSPIRE AGAINST THE ODDS
Default Skills
- Seer: A person with this ability has flashes of still images that go through their mind when they come into physical contact with either an item or another living being (person or animal). This is an unstable ability that works randomly and out of their control. Persons with this untrained ability have been known to be treated as insane so be careful who you share this with.
- Olden Language: Through study you know enough of the Olden Language to recognize key terms. You are not as fluent as a Rune user but you can hold your own in simpler spoken word or writing.
Purchased abilities
Soothsayer I: (upgrade of Seer) You have discovered that these images you are seeing are in fact images of possible futuristic events in relation to what you have made contact with. You have better control of the ability meaning you're not just seeing images but are now seeing mini movies playing through your mind that last longer than before. However you still have no control of when this is triggered, it's still random.
Soothsayer II: (Upgrade of Soothsayer I) Through much personal training and faith you have improved your skill with this ability. Not only can you extend or minimize the length of the futuristic movie reels playing in your mind but you also have the power to choose when to trigger it. The ability no longer occurs random. You're in charge
