It has been a long, tense day across the length and span of Ethea. Thousands of citizens of every race have gathered together to show their support for their side of the issue. The cacophonous swell of opposing voices fills the air as each side attempts to drown out the other with the sheer volume of their voices. While the day has passed with few incidents, tensions are high and the people are restless. Hours have passed since the polls first opened and the hour in which the results will be revealed. A loud, clear voice cuts through the noise like a knife, demanding the attention of all in attendance. “Ladies and Gentlemen, citizens of Ethea, if you would please direct your attention to the screen for just a few moments, the voting results have been compiled and we are ready to announce the conclusion. A hush falls over the gathered crowd and hundreds of individual faces turn to face the gigantic holographic display or towards the monitors by which those not in attendance have tuned to watch the historic event. 00:00:0500:00:0400:00:0300:00:0200:00:0100:00:00The hologram shifts from the image of a clock and displays the results. The law has been passed. In a split second's timing uproar follows. One side rejoices while the other laments; all raise their voices in either praise or disgust. DAGOSAn overjoyed man in his late thirties flings his arms in celebration, losing his grip on the camera he’d been using to record the event. The device flies straight and true as though guided by the hands of fate itself and strikes one of the opposing protesters. The young woman falls flat, bleeding from a head wound. Outrage follows and all semblance of order is lost. The overzealous are the first to react, flinging themselves over the concrete dividers that separate the two groups. Fists fly and hateful slurs are shouted as mob mentality takes hold. The fight quickly turns lethal as picket signs are used as clubs and other, deadlier weapons are drawn. FELICIOld men toss jeers and slurs at a group of young magi. One of the members finally has enough and pushes the human away from her with an anger that sparks into minor flames at her fingertips. The reaction of the men is to scream in horror. "She's trying to kill us!" would be the cries heard above all else as they attempt to escape their deaths, all but one who pulls a gun on the woman who had singed his shirt just moments before. From there all sides come in to support the ones they believe to have been the true victim. Hunters, police, representatives of the Runic University, and MLM members who had been stationed there in case of such a reaction. CAMLORNSmaller townships such as Camlorn are slower to descend into madness, but descend they do. Upon hearing of the situation in both the capital and Dagos, local military commanders give orders to suppress any potential riots by any means necessary. Unfortunately, these orders are interpreted as authorization to fire upon both sides and Camlorn follows the example given by the large cities. The scene is one that replays itself in horrifying detail across the land. Many watch in horror as the chaos erupts. Some attempt to flee while others merely watch in utter disbelief, though one thing is shockingly clear. The Second Magi Riot has begun.

The timer had expired. The vote had passed.
Nasrin had been among the attending masses in Camlorn, all watching huddled and eager for the words that would follow that countdown and announce the results of this latest attack on magi rights. She'd been optimistic, cheerful even— convinced that the madness of the relocation camps was behind them —but when that timer struck zero Nasrin's face fell and her heart felt squeezed in a vice of despair. It was over. They'd lost.
Matched cries of celebration and dismay went up from the crowd around her, but the voices seemed muted to the air magi's ears as she tried to... wrap her head around this. After so many decades of cruelty and disappointment you'd think that this would come as less of a surprise, yet she was still so disappointed. And tired. She hated this— no, stop; Nasrin gave her head a vigorous shake, pale tresses fluttering to and fro as she aggressively dismissed those thoughts, before disentangling herself from the crowd of distraught magi around her so that she could take a quick breather.
It was as she moved away from the crush of bodies that Nasrin's pale blue eyes flickered sidelong over Camlorn's unusually crowded square and fell upon two people standing off from the crowds. Ah, that looked like Luca, standing beside a woman she'd not yet met. ❝Hello, Luca. It's nice to see you again, dear,❞ She greeted once she'd crossed the distance between them and offered a small, melancholy smile. ❝Though the circumstances are not so joyful.❞ An understatement, really. Nasrin felt the urge to loose a titanic sigh at that thought, but she did her best to remain smiling as she went on to look toward the unfamiliar magi beside Luca. The air magi had opened her mouth again to offer an introduction, only to be interrupted by a distant shriek that cut through the hubbub of activity around them like nails on a chalkboard.
Screaming, someone was screaming. A look of shock washed over Nasrin's expression as her train of thought was derailed and she turned to glance over one shoulder just in time to see the arriving figures of what looked to be military personnel. Black on black armor, hard eyes, guns. The sight was spreading fear and unease through the crowds (mostly on the magi side) and she glimpsed a group of younger magi beginning to throw things; rocks and sparks and chips of ice. Angry screams were answered by a sudden smattering of gunfire and, all of a sudden, Camlorn fell into madness.

See the line where the sky meets the sea; It calls me. The vote had passed. Of course it had. A heavy, heavy sigh left Surai as she shook her head. Honestly she wasn't surprised in the slightest. Yet still there had been a part of her that had felt...optimistic. Maybe it wouldn't come to pass. Maybe people would actually realize how foolish this was. Well so much for wishful thinking. Surai turned towards Luca. Already the very suggestion of a curfew had brought many concerns to mind. There were definitely going to be repercussions for that alone, even if the law hadn't passed. But since it had, Surai was even more worried about what was going to occur now. Camlorn was a fairly sweet little town that seemed to handle the human-Magi relationship far better than most places. But that didn't mean it was exempt from chaos when something like this stirred the pot. One wrong nudge and things could very swiftly spiral out of control. She did not want her or Luca getting stuck in something like that. "Luca, I have a feeling we sho-"Before she could continue, however, a woman walked up to the two of them. Surai had purposefully stayed separate from the major crowd, for reasons she'd soon be thankful for. For the time being though, blue eyes turned curiously towards this newcomer. A fellow Magi who seemed to know Luca. That was... actually a good thing. As much as Surai had come to enjoy his company (plus the kids adored him so that was a huge plus in her book), she worried that he ought to find some of his old friends too. They would definitely help him further adjust to being free again. But before she could say anything, a scream tore through the air. Wide blue eyes turned towards the crowds. Figures were closing in; militia armed with guns and hard expressions that did not bode well. Which was swiftly proven as individuals in the crowd started to react towards their presence with hostility. Horrified awe overtook the surajan woman as she witnessed the beginning of the insanity that would overtake Camlorn and its citizens. Suddenly the sound of gunfire was in the air, and it didn't look like the soldiers were differentiating berween their targets. "No..." This was worse than she thought. She knew there would likely be fighting, but having soldiers come in and carelessly gun down whomever they saw? They had to get out of sight and away now."We need to go. We need to go now." The surajan woman said with a new sense of urgency to her voice as she took Luca by the hand. Her worry was evident in the way she squeezed the appendage and her eyes darted about. "Because it doesn't look like they care who they're shooting!" Never did she think Camlorn would suddenly remind her of her old hometown in Suraja; today was the unfortunate exception it seemed.

[attr="class","ig"] [attr="class","kikan"] The breath he’d been holding during the countdown escaped in a quiet sigh, accompanied by drooping shoulders and crestfallen features. The curfew was to be put into effect. Already, Luca wondered what that would mean for him, as one who eventually hoped to wander again. How could he obey a curfew in the middle of nowhere, or if there was a nighttime emergency he needed to help with? While it was true that he hadn’t been out much at night since being freed, the thing still weighed heavily, as it did on so many others. But something was wrong here— more so than the blatant lack of regard for his people— and even without his Empathy active he could feel it. It was more than likely time to go, and Surai seemed to have the same idea before they were stopped by a familiar face. Torn between surprise and a small smile, Luca turned to the elder magi with a bit of both in his expression. “Nasrin—“Someone screamed, and was soon joined by others both angry and fearful as deafening cracks of gunfire began sounding among the gathered crowd. Frozen, Luca stared in wide-eyed horror as chaos descended over the usually quiet Camlorn, only snapping out of it when Surai’s hand closed around his. “The orphanage—“ he managed, already looking for a clear exit. They had to get there, make sure the little ones were alright, and get them somewhere else if they weren’t. “There!” Eyes landing on a nearby alleyway that seemed clear for the moment, Luca pointed and began moving towards it, his hand still tightly clutching Surai’s, while the other motioned frantically for Nasrin to come with them. ❝Oh Gods—❞ Shock quickly morphed to horror in Nasrin's heart as the sounds of violence and fury began to fill the area, quickly becoming deafening with the volume of people packed into the square, and the air magi's expression became stricken at what she was seeing. It had all happened so fast. Just a minute ago the square had been stifling tense, yes, but to think that things could escalate to mindless killing this quickly? She wouldn't have dared to imagine such a horrible thing was possible, yet here it was unfolding before her very eyes as the crowd seethed with equal parts panic and rage. Even those who were desperately trying to flee caught bullets between one step and then next; not to mention the carnage unfolding between magi who threw themselves viciously back at the humans who had arrived to try and "keep the peace". People were dying right in front of them.
Nasrin felt frozen in place— faced with this ghastly, unfathomable sight —but the voice of the woman whose name she'd not had a chance to ask for snapped her from that stupor, at least partially. ❝We need to go. We need to go now.❞ Nasrin tore her gaze back to Luca and the woman with one avian hand raised to her lips, that look of horror still shining in her eyes, before she bit her lip in a moment of indecision. Run away? Surely that would be the safest choice now— to get as far away from this nightmare as possible —but could she just do that now? What about... the rest of the magi in the crowd. Again Nasrin couldn't help but look back to where said crowd was roiling with chaos and she felt pulled to throw herself among it; to help somehow.
But what would that really accomplish. The thought was abruptly cold and sobering as she imagined herself pushing into the throng to yell at any magi she found to RUN, summoning her magic to shield others, drawing the fire meant for a younger member of her kind. Mere wind could not fend off all those bullets, though, and Nasrin knew without thinking too much that she would die if she chose that path.
The fair haired magi swallowed, feeling a swell of conflicting guilt and fear, before her attention was back on where Luca was now pointing towards a nearby alley for them to run down. When the other two magi moved toward it she followed close behind. Gods forgive me. Nasrin at least hoped that there would be some other opportunity to help along their way, since she wasn't ready to throw her life away just yet. ❝...you mentioned an orphanage. Is that where we're going?❞

See the line where the sky meets the sea; It calls me. Thank the Gods Luca was thinking along the same lines as her: the orphanage! Surai had already expressed her concerns about the upcoming vote to the rest of the staff there, but what could they really do other than batten down the hatches and hold on? Though Surai doubted anyone expected something like this to take place. Open gunfire on anyone who so much as dared to move. If one of the militia groups somehow got near the orphanage and one of the kids somehow got out... Surai shook her head and hurried alongside Luca. No, she wouldn't even think of that scenario. She refused to let something like that happen. Not to her kids. Not to her kids. "I work at an orphanage in town. We have to make sure the kids are alright! If this chaos somehow manages to reach them..." Surai shook her head. "I would never forgive myself if one of them got hurt from all this." All this completely pointless and mindless violence. Which was why they had to hurry and beat the swarm of militia moving in and any of the other rioters. Either would spell trouble if they reached their destination first. So Surai ended up taking the lead, moving swiftly through the streets towards the orphanage. She kept hold of Luca's hand, the contact reassuring her that her friend was still with her. Though she did throw back a few glances to make sure the other Magi- Nasrin, if she'd heard correctly- was with them. Meanwhile all around them came the spreading of noise and screams. The mayhem they'd seen back there was spreading like wildfire, and the sounds of gunfire was dominating the air in a horrifying din. As much as surai wished she could do something she knew she couldn't. All she could do now was make sure they got to the kids and keep them as safe as possible. "It shouldn't be too far! Once we get there we need to lock up and make sure none of the rioters or the shooters gets inside. Maybe get all the kids to the basement. I don't think trying to move everyone out of town at this point would be a smart idea." If only she'd thought of that beforehand and had her fellow coworkers take care of that prior to the voting! At least then she'd have some piece of mind during this insanity.

[attr="class","ig"] [attr="class","kikan"] Every second they hesitated felt like an eternity, but thankfully the lot of them got moving quickly enough to avoid the attention of the descending militia for the time being. As the trio dashed into the alley, Luca remained quiet, eyes open for anything or anyone that might block their way, and ears alert for pursuers at their backs. Even as they made it into the alley, and further away from the growing riot, he didn’t dare look back, for fear of what he might see behind them. With Surai’s hand gripped tightly in his own, the young magi did his best to keep up. A part of him hated that he was doing this— running like a coward. There were so many people he could help that they were leaving behind. So many lives to save… but he wasn’t a fighter, and trying to navigate that veritable war zone without any means of defending himself, never mind anyone else, would have been a death wish. It was better to go now, and come back to fix what he could when the chaos had died down, and the militia had backed off… but he still hated it, just a little. Thinking of the children helped, somewhat. Those, at least, were lives they could help keep safe in this mess, as long as they got back quickly. Luca clung to that thought desperately, while his feet pounded against pavement. Every now and then, he would look to Nasrin, too, to make sure she was still well and with them. As they rounded a corner, a hand reached out for the air magi to take. It wasn’t much, but perhaps at the very least keeping ahold of one another might help them avoid separation. The anarchy continues to sweep through the unfortunate township like wildfire. Hundreds fell from the hard-faced militiamen and the barking of their weapons. Not since the dead rose in defiance of the natural order of things has Camlorn suffered such a devastating blow. Disciplined bursts of gunfire drilled into the backs of the fleeing masses, slaying and injuring many. In another section of town, desperate citizens gather freely weapons and ammo from sporting goods stores and other such venues in preparation for battle. Many had lost family and much of what they possessed months ago and they would be damned if what little they recovered was stripped from them.
Back in the town’s center, the magi that had survived alongside the human citizenry were attempting to hold the militia at bay. Walls of ice and stone sprung into existence while fireballs and flashes of lightning strike down one soldier after another. Some magi focus their efforts on dragging the injured to relative safety so that their wounds may be heal enough to escape the slaughter; many die despite the best efforts of these noble and generous souls.
Faced with a somewhat organized resistance, the militia forces break into individual squads to better face the enemy, for that is what their orders have designated these innocents as. A few individuals become separated from their teammates and thrust into turmoil with nothing but the gear they’d acquired beforehand. Some are fortunate enough to regroup with their fellows and continue the attack; others are caught by rabid mobs of angry citizens and bludgeoned to death; many more are simply unable to safely return and abandon their posts in fear of death.
Sometime after Surai and her companions escape from the worst outbreaks of violence, they would happen upon a solitary militiaman. He speaks into a headpiece connected to a radio, desperately pleading for orders and broadcasting his position to what could presumably be his squad leader. His rifle rises into position as the group approaches, though he does not fire immediately as the others did.
“Stay back!” he orders, voice trembling with fear. “I’m with the gods damn REM, so stay the fuck back or I’ll shoot! I’ll do it!”

If someone managed to reach them... that was not a statement that Nasrin needed to hear finished by the other magi— her own imagination did just fine in filling in the horrific blanks —and she grimaced quietly as the three continued swiftly down the alley. The innocent blood being shed back in the town square was horrible enough, but the thought of children being dragged into this mess? Nasrin's stomach twisted itself into an unpleasant knot just from considering such a thing and she clamped down on that resolve to help Luca and the other young magi protect the orphanage with a single minded fervor. Nasrin had been helpless to save anyone back at the epicenter of the madness, but those weren't the only people who needed help getting through this day. She had to put what she'd seen to the back of her mind for now.
Still, the fair haired magi's expression was shadowed with that lingering look of grim horror until Luca looked back to her, offering out a hand, and she managed a watery smile back at him as she reached to take it. The touch was grounding, at least, and made Nasrin feel a bit safer knowing she was with friends. And indeed their little party seemed to blaze ahead with no problems for a while, leading Nasrin to believe that they had managed to outrun the spreading chaos. Surely they had to be close to their destination, too. She wasn't very familiar with this part of Camlorn, especially not these twisting back alleys, and put her full trust in the other magi to lead her to where they were going. Unfortunately, their path would not be a totally smooth one.
The lone rifleman was well around the corner up ahead before their group could notice his presence, and so both human and magi seemed to spot each other at once and come to an immediate standoff. Nasrin's heart fluttered an unsteady, fearful rhythm in her chest at the sight of the gun barrel staring them down and she skidded to a halt, which likely did some tugging on Luca if he and the woman hadn't already stopped. No no she didn't want to fight. Sure it was three against one, but the militia member had a hefty caliber weapon on him and could likely fill them all with holes before any magic could bridge the gap. Maybe one or two of them could survive to go on. But it would be far from a bloodless victory. For a moment there was no movement after the man had spoken, before Nasrin gave Luca's hand a gentle squeeze (whether it was to reassure him or her, hard to say), untangled her fingers from his, and raised both hands in a gesture of peace. Of course, an empty handed magi was certainly not a harmless one, yet she hoped to at least look as un-threatening as possible.
❝We will we will, I promise. None of us will hurt you,❞ The air magi spoke up, trying to keep the nervous quaver out of her voice even as her tail feathers shuddered anxiously. This man seemed as afraid of them as they were of him, which was promising; maybe there was a peaceful way out of this. ❝We don't want to fight. Please. We're all running from what happened... back there, and we just want to get through. I beg you, don't start more of this needless violence.❞

See the line where the sky meets the sea; It calls me. When Surai glanced back another time she noticed Luca offering out his hand out to Nasrin. Despite the horrible chaos surrounding them all, seeing such an action did manage to warm Surai's heart a fraction. If they- no, when they got out of this mess she really wanted to chat with not just Luca but Nasrin as well. Having another friend around for Luca would be great. Plus, to be honest, they were currently going through hell together. That wasn't a typically "bonding" experience most people could share. But it was an idea for another time. A time when they weren't caught up in all this. They were doing fairly well through it thus far though. Most of the carnage was behind them as they'd managed to flee fast. But even they couldn't avoid everything it seemed. As they were getting ever closer to the orphanage, suddenly their group encountered a lone soldier speaking quick into his headpiece. Surai's heart did a little skip-jump of panic when the rifle was raised in their direction, but by the grace of Irilys he didn't shoot. He seemed just as panicked as the rest of them. Their group halted and Surai turned her attention briefly over to Nasrin as the magi began to speak up. Thankfully she didn't try anything; she tried reasoning with the poor man instead. Surai was beginning to like this friend of Luca's. They all seemed like they were on the same page with things. "Please, sir." The teacher started after Nasrin had finished speaking. "We really don't mean you any harm. We're just trying to reach our loved ones and make sure they're alright. Some of them are only children. We wanted to make sure the violence didn't reach them yet and wouldn't." They were so close. So painfully close to their destination. It would only take them a few minutes from here to get to the orphanage. The fact the only soldier they'd seen thus far was this man was promising. But they had to get there fast. "Please. We just need to reach them. We don't want to fight."

[attr="class","ig"] [attr="class","kikan"] The further they ran, the more they seemed to leave the chaos and carnage behind them. Though screams and gunfire still echoed in the distance, the streets were growing quieter, and for this Luca found himself very grateful. Perhaps they would reach the orphanage before anyone else did, after all. Squeezing Nasrin’s hand for comfort— both his own and that of the elder magi— he kept running along behind Surai. Just another block or two, and they would arrive and— A soldier appeared, and the zero magi came to an abrupt halt right along with the other two, staring in wide-eyed fear. Scared though the man was, Luca couldn’t help but focus almost entirely on the gun in his hands, aimed directly at them. Panic paired with a loaded gun was a dangerous combination at best. And yet, the weapon hadn’t been fired immediately. What small part of him wasn’t consumed by terror tried to pull some sense of hope from that. Fortunately, the other two with him were not struck mute as he was. First spoke Nasrin, then Surai, both attempting to calm the militiaman standing before them with gentle pleas. After a few moments more, Luca found it within himself to add his own voice to the mix. “W-we really don’t want any trouble…” he spoke with a quavering voice. Briefly, he considered attempting the use of Sympathy to further strengthen their point, but decided quickly he’d rather not find out what would happen should the attempt fail. “We’re just trying to go home and make sure everyone there is safe. The young rifleman took a frightened step back upon seeing Nasrin’s hands rising. He resisted the urge to shoot her dead on the spot, though only just so. He’d only been a ten-year-old boy when the mass breakouts had occurred and he still had nightmares about the things his father had told him. There was no way he was going to die like so many of his comrades had!
“Don’t you FUCKING move, magi!” he ordered. “I’ve seen what you all can do and I’m not fucking stupid enough to fall for a trick like that.” His fearful ire switched targets when Surai spoke. He shifted back and forth on his feet as he settled into a more comfortable firing stance, but his rifled lowered a smidge at her mention of family and children being caught in this mess. Thoughts of his own family surfaced and he suddenly found himself worrying about his parents and the girlfriend he’d left back in Dagos to provide security for this pointless event. The thought of children being caught in this…
No; the REM was better than that. They wouldn’t shoot a bunch of kids . . . would they?
His rifle snapped back into position as Luca added his own voice to the argument, though his eyes trained themselves on everyone in turn. “Where… Where are these kids you’re talking about? Everything’s gone to shit and back and I don’t know what’s going on anymore. We weren’t even supposed to do anything out here.”

The fact that both of her companions were echoing Nasrin's own words— pleas to be let past; to not turn this into a fight; please please don't hurt us —took a bit of the edge off the air magi's frazzled nerves. Surely after hearing all three of them beg for the same things this man wouldn't think that they had any interest in fighting, right? They couldn't have been any clearer about the fact that they just wanted to get past and, she prayed that her intuition had been right on this, the human facing them down didn't look too eager to force a fight upon them, either. This had just been a stroke of bad luck for all of them; in a bigger, more awful series of events that was currently throwing Camlorn into chaos. This poor city was really not having a good year.
Unfortunately, the movement of Nasrin's hands seemed to have come off as anything but comforting and she cringed, fearfully drawing talon'd fingers back into her chest, at the order. She took it to heart, too, frozen in place with pale blue eyes wide. Ugh, that really could have gone better, but the fair haired magi had known that hoping such a gesture would be seen as non-threatening would be a gamble. This man had to have gotten training to know otherwise if he was to be going up against magi. Rather unhelpfully, Nasrin's brain supplied the thought that it would be in his safest interest to shoot before any of them had the chance to get in a twitch of their fingers. No no no BAD; he hadn't attacked them so far, and he seemed interested in actually talking to them to find out more about their destination. For that information, Nasrin's gaze darted sidelong toward Luca and his friend with the silent hope that they'd answer and tell him of the orphanage. They were the ones who knew where it was while she'd just been tagging along for the ride.

See the line where the sky meets the sea; It calls me. Surai openly flinched when the soldier yelled at Nasrin. Somewhere in her brain there would be a piece of her angry over someone being treated so harshly, but right now really wasn't the time to be scolding bad behavior. Might not be a good idea to do to the person with a gun. Fortunately he seemed to soften somewhat at the mention of the kids. Maybe this man had a family? Maybe little siblings? Whatever the case Surai was glad to see reason could potentially save the day here and not get them all shot. They just had to keep calm. Try not to agitate the one pointing a barrel towards them. Yeah, right. "They're at the nearby orphanage, sir. I work there, along with my friend here." With a small gesture of her head she indicated Luca. It wasn't technically true per say, but he'd become enough of a figure there he'd basically been accepted as a volunteer. Close enough. "And she's a friend of ours." This time she indicated Nasrin. Again, it wasn't technically true. Well at least not for Surai in this case, but she was friends with Luca. That worked well enough for Surai. "I know most of my coworkers will be trying to keep the kids safe and organized during all this but...No one expected something like this to happen." Rioting bad enough to rival the first magi riots? By Irilys, Surai didn't even want to think about what was happening in the bigger cities. This was bad enough in Camlorn. "That's why we really need to get through, sir. It's only a few blocks away by now. They might be fine but I just... I-If anything happened to them..." Throughout this whole endeavor the woman had managed to keep her calm. But now that they were so painfully close to their destination, while Surai could hear the gunshots in the distance and all around them, she was starting to feel just a little more panicked. "Please sir please. You can come with us if you want, we just have to get there."

[attr="class","ig"] [attr="class","kikan"] A tiny, terrified squeak escaped Luca’s lungs as the soldier shouted, raising his gun threateningly, and on instinct his form shrank a little where he stood. Whatever else he could have said in that moment to assist died then and there, as fear arrested what few faculties it hadn’t taken hold of already. It was all he could do not to start shaking where he stood, staring wide-eyed down the barrel of the gun pointed at Nasrin, then Surai, then him… Though he caught the soldier’s falter, it wasn’t nearly enough to ease his concerns. Nearly every part of him screamed to run, but the second he tried he was sure the man would happily riddle his body with bullets, and if he wanted to reach the orphanage— if he wanted to do something right today— that couldn’t happen. Barely able to think straight, never mind continue to add support to their case, Luca settled for quietly nodding along with what Surai had to say. Being the only human in their group, perhaps her words would be better to sway the soldier standing before them. The orphanage was close, one nod. They both worked there, another nod. Almost unconsciously, he curled his hands against his chest, wringing them anxiously while he tried to keep his tail from twitching too much behind him. While less than pleased with the idea of having the REM agent tagging along with them, all Luca could do just then was shoot Surai a startled look. Overall, he found the idea less than appealing, but hadn’t found his voice just yet to say so aloud. Still… the riot wasn’t growing any calmer in the distance, and if Surai’s tactic somehow got them where they needed to be then… so be it. Still shaking, he turned desperate blue eyes on the man blocking their way, silently pleading him to let them continue on their way.
