See the line where the sky meets the sea;
It calls me.
It calls me.
OOC: takes place directly after this.
After Maevia's experience with Chvali, Surai could fully understand taking a little bit of time to gather one's self after the fact. Especially when things had gone...exactly as Surai expected them to go. When the other woman had collapsed, Surai had instinctively made her way over to the cyborg with a fair amount of worry. Though she wasn't exactly sure how any offered help might be received. So in the end she had just watched on with a great deal of concern wile Maevia got herself up. To her credit, she had recovered far faster than Surai was expecting. Color the teacher impressed.
But now was the time to move on.
Once Maevia was ready and back on her feet Surai would move on. They approached the entrance of the Grand Library. It really was a magnificent structure, and Surai never could shake off that feeling of awe she got whenever she came there. As they finally reached the large set of double doors leading inside, Surai glanced back and gave Maevia a smile. ”Welcome to the Library, Maevia." Without further ado they headed inside.
The outside of the Grand Library had already seemed immense, but the inside only made it seem larger. They walked into a grand entrance hall that stretched out long before them. The walls of it extended far above their heads, with some intricate mural of the sky depicted above. The architectural design of the place was ancient; large carved columns of marble lined the sides of the hall they strode through, and merged into the tiled floors of the hall they walked. Amongst the columns were statues depicting a vast number of different figures. Most of them were unfamiliar, but some might yet strike a cord with the cyborg as they passed through. Upon any further inspection or inquiry, it would be made obvious that these statues were different deities. Some known, and some completely unknown; not forgotten though. Not in these halls. Their likenesses had been capture through the stone, with ancient names carved into the base of each pedestal.
”This library was originally made in the Olden Era." Surai informed Maevia as they continued on. The echoes of their footsteps rang throughout the long corridor as they moved, as well as the woman’s voice. ”And back then, it wasn’t just a library; it was a whole city. Though most of it was destroyed when the city sunk beneath the waves during the war between the Spirits and Humankind. However, Lord Irilys wanted a place to keep knowledge from being lost. This place offered the perfect location; it already had immense amounts of text and artifacts on the ancient world. It was also a place where all the gods were appreciated." With a gesture she indicated some of the statues they passed.
”Though the library itself was dedicated to the God of Knowledge, it held texts and teachings of the other Gods as well. It was a place purely devoted to learning all one could about the world and everything in it." She smirked a little and glanced back towards Maevia. ”Frankly it still is, though now most members of our order are also concerned with recovering things which have been lost to time. Ancient scrolls, artifacts, et cetera. Things that can tell us about the world before, and those who preceded us. Like these deities." her expression faded for a moment, turning more somber. ”Many of these deities are forgotten now by the rest of the world. And with that their powers waned and… They fell." A moment passed in silence. ”…But at least here, we know of them. So, perhaps not entirely forgotten."
Before Surai continued on though, another voice spoke up. “Surai?”The teacher immediately went from speaking of lost deities and lost texts to looking over at a woman approaching them. It was a female human (don’t worry Maevia) that looked surajan in origin as well, judging from the pretty tan face that looked out from a dark blue hijab. Surai immediately perked up with a wide smile.
”Ashia! Hello there! It’s great to see you again, though I’m guessing you’re actually leaving right now huh?" Temporarily Surai’s attention seemed to go towards her friend, the two simply talking as old friends. Ashia smiled back a little guiltily and shrugged her shoulders.
“I’m afraid you’re right. I need to get back home before it gets too late. Otherwise I’m worried Manzi will try cooking again, and we all know how well that went last time.” both women grimaced slightly before Ashia’s eyes fell on Maevia. She looked surprised, glancing back at Surai. “Wait, is this…”
Surai shook her head. ”No no, this is a guest actually. Lord Irilys wanted her help with something and needed her to come here." The explanation only caused Ashia’s eyes to grow even wider.
“A guest?” She breathed in shock, looking back at Maevia. “Well… You certainly must be something special to be allowed here. I don’t think we’ve ever had a guest before.” After she said it, a curious expression came to the other woman’s face. She glanced back at Surai. “And she wasn’t…”
Again Surai seemed to pick up on whatever Ashia was implying and laughed. ”No, she wasn’t."
“Really?”
”Really. Although we did get a little audience with her after we got here. But no; no need to edit the book this time." Now when Ashia looked back at Maevia, she looked impressed.
“Wow. Well. I suppose I should get going while she’s apparently in a generous mood.” A smirk was offered Maevia’s way before Ashai waved at Surai. “Good luck to you two though, and welcome to our Library miss!” With that, the woman walked off back the way them came. Surai took a moment to wave back and watch her go before turning to Maevia. If anything the sudden encounter with her colleague made the surajan even more relaxed.
”Anyways, shall we continue? For what you need, we’ll have to go down a few levels."
