See the line where the sky meets the sea; It calls me. Dagos. City of Vice. Well, at least for Ethea- though Surai had to give the place some credit. Ten minutes in and she already felt right back at home in her birth-town in Suraja. Which frankly wasn't a good thing, but fortunately living in a town rife with conflict and danger around every corner left her well enough prepared to take on this place. Even if she'd been away for some time. By the time Surai arrived at her destination, she'd mulled over her reason for being there in the first place about a hundred times. Ok, more like twenty. Still that meant she was on task. After all she was there not as a school teacher, but as an agent for her God. Some grand plan was in motion, and she had been chosen to help turn the gears. She'd try her best for Irilys, as always. Which meant she approached the building before her not with hesitation or trepidation; she walked with the calmness and surety of one on a mission. Because that's exactly why she was there in the darker regions of Dagos. There were hoops to get through before she could actually see the one she was supposed to see. Checks and rules in place to keep things safe, and prior extensions to let the woman know she was coming and why. Not that anything would be found wrong on her person anyways, but she wasn't particularly vexed by the security this individual had in place. Patience was a virtue the woman had in spades when it came to Crux work. So eventually she was allowed forward to finally see the woman she was there to see. When the Surajan stepped in and the entrance closed behind her, she couldn't help but look around first in vague curiosity. She wasn't a follower of knowledge for nothing- learning new things was fascinating for her. And as much as she knew right now, there was always more. But her eyes did settle soon on the other individual. The one she was here for. A small smile soon spread across her face. Not a smug one or unkind one, but simply polite. "Thank you for meeting with me. I'm glad we can talk face to face." It never hurt to show manners. But the woman was there on business so she might as well get down to it. "But I'm here for a reason and I have a feeling you'd want to get straight to that." Surai mused. She could be wrong of course, but she'd been told to say something from the very start. A sort of "password" for Maevia to know she was who she was. So with a polite smile and calm tone, Surai spoke: "So how's about we talk business, Rowan?"

[attr="class","biggie"] [attr="class","textie"] THE FIRST STEP Maevia leaned back in her office chair, pouring over files and documentation for the dozenth time this morning with her VI, Orbweaver. Surai. On the surface, she seemed to be a rather unassuming woman, which immediately made her interesting. She was a teacher, spent time with children, and came from a shady Surajan town some years ago. It was her connection to Irilys that had frustratingly little information on it, no matter what stones she unturned or what connections she checked. Whatever circle she belonged to regarding the Owl was well hidden, if such an organization existed. Perhaps it was linked to the University. She’d get more information today, at least. Off to the side of the room, conflicting fiercely with the businesslike feeling it evoked, a small owl slept soundlessly, curled up in a comfortable, small blanket on the floor of a large bird cage. The emphasis was on large- it was easily six feet long and just as tall- though the doors to the cage were removed entirely, allowing the little bird to come and go as it pleased. It was more of a personal space than a cage, in that sense. When she got the message from Ebony, she sent back the ‘okay’ immediately. Surai was checked for weapons and allowed in without much of a fuss. Maevia never trusted anyone 100%, even gods or their agents, but she had no reason to suspect foul play from the woman. When the woman entered, she would find the room at it normally was; dimly lit, with a sort of barrier of monitors between her and Maevia, centered on a long desk in a semi-circle facing the agent. Maevia wore her standard fare- her hoodie, with the mask part over her mouth and the hood shadowing the upper part of her face. The entire half of Maevia’s side was dimly blued by the gentle glow of monitors. She looked up and considered the Surajan, a faint glow of red coming from her cybernetic eye. She let the woman talk. When she said the name, her name, Maevia closed her eye and remained silent for a few moments. If she told anyone else that name, even her god would not be able to save her. When she opened her eye once more, she gestured with a gentle hand motion for the woman to sit. She sat upright, allowing the monitors to illuminate her face more thoroughly. “Call me Maevia from this point,” she said. Calm. Even. Just as she always was. “Thank you for coming, Surai Bazzi. I’ve been told by our mutual acquaintance that you can help me with a task, but I’m afraid I have no other specifics. I would appreciate any further information that you have. As you can imagine, I do not like to work without knowing the details.” ===== Tags: Surai Bazzi Notes: hello never call me that again [attr="class","iconie"] [newclass=.biggie]-webkit-transitionduration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover]margin-left:-300px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie]opacity:0;margin-top:-425px;margin-bottom:150px;width:285px;height:400px;padding:10px;background-color:#000000;border:solid 1px #000000;color:#e4e0e0;text-align:justify;overflow:auto;margin-left:10px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;font:11px calibri;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .textie]opacity:1;margin-left:610px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie::-webkit-scrollbar]width:10px;background:#000000;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background:#9589a0;border:2px solid #e4e0e0;[/newclass] [newclass=.iconie]opacity:0;margin-top:-240px;margin-left:-220px;margin-bottom:50px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .iconie]opacity:1;[/newclass] [newclass=.tagsie]opacity:0;font:11px calibri;color:#b7b7b7;margin-top:-75px;margin-left:-75px;margin-bottom:40px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .tagsie]opacity:1;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass]

See the line where the sky meets the sea; It calls me. The silence spoke volumes. Surai had been curious when she was told to use a name to reveal herself to this other woman. As always she had questions. This was a true name. One that apparently held a great deal of significance to the other figure sitting across from her, if that expression was anything to go by. And for that, Surai immediately acquiesced without hesitation. To do otherwise would clearly be cruel, or at least foolhardy if they were going to be working together for however long. "Of course, Maevia." With that she gratefully took a seat. Ah yes, time for some answers. "I can." She replied with a hint of a smile. They were similar in that way: Surai liked knowing as many details as she could when she was set upon a task. Or as much as her God would give to her. This particular quest had been no different, and it was what made the surajan woman sit up more and get back into business mode. There was a job to do, and by Irilys she'd do it as best as she could. "Our mutual acquaintance has already told you your task, yes, but I'm here to help you with the next few steps. We're going to be working together on this as I'm to be your connection- or at least mortal one- to our group. Most importantly for now though I am to tell you that it, The word was said with deliberate emphasis and a very pointed look. Despite the woman's obvious care for security here, Surai wasn't about to let slip something quite so important in a place she wasn't all comfortable with. "Still exists and that I am to take you to it." Which was something that was indeed important, as no one else had seen the place it rested but for other members of Vicis Crux. To have someone outside of their group come in was unprecedented as far as Surai could remember. "But before that I have to warn you of at least two things. One is something that goes without saying really, but I'll say it anyways: Do not reveal anything about this place to anyone else, or make any sort of record of it." Her look had gone pointed. Perhaps she wasn't quite intimidating, but her words were completed serious and firm. "You are the first person in a very, very long time to be let in. And while I completely trust our mutual acquaintance's decision to trust you, it merely must be said." With that being said, Surai paused. It was a brief hesitation as she thought about what else she should warn the girl about. Or rather, who. "As for the second thing..." Again, another pause. Surai had never gotten to bring a new member of the Crux to their base before. This was pretty much her chance at it, and she remembered well her own first time being brought there. That was a surprise she didn't quite want to ruin- it was far better to experience it. "I will say this; When we arrive there I reccommend you speak with only the most polite tone and best manners that you can. Someone else is going to be helping us get there, and they are not someone you want to get on the bad side of. You... really have to meet them to understand." Surai explained. On that, she would say no more. "But as for the rest of the information... quite frankly I think it would be better to tell you once we're there." The woman said. "No disrespect at all to your security; I can tell you go through great effort to keep this place and what goes on inside under wraps." And for that Surai could admire the work gone into such efforts. What? She applauded hard work. "But we aren't exactly talking about the weather in here." There was another faint crack of a smile while she said it, but it went away fast enough. "It wouldn't be too particularly far either. A few hours maybe but that wouldn't be too bad. But I can understand the need for questions. There was a knowing little smile on her face, but aimed more towards herself than Maevia. "So are there any particular ones you wanted to ask me?" If she thought they were too sensitive then she'd simply say so. But Surai could give some information without spilling anything too horrifically important (at least in the context of this situation).

[attr="class","biggie"] [attr="class","textie"] OF A FEATHER She steepled her hands and listened to the woman’s explanation. She was thorough, calm, and confident; this was not her first time around powerful people (though being a god’s messenger will numb you to that, she knew firsthand) and Maevia appreciated how she carried herself. She was glad not to have to work with some enigmatic fool or neophyte; it felt immediately like working with someone like Clarisse or Embry. Under her mask, she smiled. She would take her to It? Maevia’s human eye narrowed briefly. Would it be that easy, truly, or was there more of a catch? Then the word warning came, and she felt more comfortable; there WAS always a catch- it was better to know of it beforehand. You could analyze and plan. Surprises were unpredictable and made for tougher work. She vaguely nodded at the request; she agreed, but would do so verbally after the Surajan finished her piece. So, this was a risk, too, taken by Irilys and perhaps this woman as well; revealing your safehouse, your base, to a stranger… well, she didn’t take that lightly. She nodded a second time at Surai’s next request. Maevia was a master of masks and people; it would be a trivial task, but she stored the advice in her brain nonetheless. Maevia put her palm up and out facing Surai as she spoke of her office. “No disrespect taken,” she said. “I take the utmost precaution in everything I do, but even this place exists only out of necessity of face-to-face meetings. It is an outpost and a tool, not a place to exchange sensitive information. I recognize it is less secure than I would prefer. Then again, that’s true of almost anywhere, in my eyes.” She folded her hands in front of her. Only the gentle hum of half a dozen computers and the occasional cooing snore of the baby owl filled the void as she thought. “I will not betray the trust of you and our mutual acquaintance,” she began. “I expect you would not be here if They suspected I may. Still, it bears repeating. I have built my life’s work on a foundation of trust; my reputation for such is why I remain in business while many others received their just rewards for various betrayals. No other will know of this place, I promise you that, nor will it be recorded or written.” Some information wasn’t for sale. Information on the contract. The secret of the ink. Arithelia’s location. The location and state of Haven. And so it would be with wherever this woman would take her. She pressed her folded fingers to her mask and examined the monitors in front of her. “You’ve told me much; less than I’d like, certainly, but I agree with the precautions. We are both taking a risk, after all. I respect that. I would like to venture a few more questions before I agree to follow a stranger to an unknown, secret location, if I may?” She worded it as a manner of perspective; certainly Surai was taking a tremendous leap of faith in her god by bringing Maevia to … it. But Maevia, too, was going on the word of a god and the trust of an absolute stranger. And yet… she wasn’t as nervous as she expected. What the hell happened to her? She was acclimating to risking herself, the highest risk, for rewards. She noted to herself not to make a habit of it in the future… Once Surai agreed, she rattled off her questions, allowing for a pause between each one so she may answer. “Will ‘it’ be at this place you are taking me? Or is this simply one leg of the journey?” “What more can you tell me of this… other help, besides manners?” She really didn’t like the sound of it. When it came to secrets and manners, Ku was the one who came first to mind. But that would hardly make sense. The next question was accompanied by a hidden smile. “How do you enjoy teaching? You must be a natural at it, given who you are acquainted with.” A little personal information on the person she was dealing with never hurt. Her file provided much of it, though she was curious to see the woman’s reaction to Maevia’s inquiry. She looked over to the sleeping, small bird, then back to Surai. “Would it be a problem if I brought my friend along? I cannot imagine the destruction I would return to if they awoke before I returned. Even without flight, it’s incredible to see what trouble can be wrought from such a small package.” She stopped there. The questions were few, for now, but many more awaited the human when they arrived. ===== Tags: Surai Bazzi Notes: to defeat the huns? See the line where the sky meets the sea; It calls me. Thank Irilys she was working with someone who seemed smart. Although Surai highly doubted her God would have trusted something so important to anyone who wasn't- but still. The teacher could appreciate intelligence as much as she appreciated Maevia's understanding of her concerns and her first warning. It made the surajan woman breath easier as another slight smile graced her lips. "Glad to hear it." She really was. Though, again, she doubted Irilys would pick anyone who would have blabbed about the location. But she couldn't help but be paranoid herself. What? She was only human. As she suspected her companion had questions. And frankly it was nice to see a bit of caution coming from the other woman in regards to coming along. Meant she was taking this serious. That and it might help her when they traveled to their next location. With a simple nod from Surai, she listened to and answered the other woman's inquiries. The first was easy and expected. "Yes, it will be. But it's also only 'one leg of the journey' as well. Getting it will be important, because then you have to find the one who had caused all this trouble in the first place. That's something else I'll be helping you with, though I think that should be talked about in the other location." Her abilities weren't exactly a broadcasted subject, and she really didn't want that to change. The second one gave her pause as she thought. ...What I can say is that they aren't exactly... human. They are very powerful and a very good reason this place has remained hidden for so long and why I trust it to be more secure than anywhere else for us to talk. But they... aren't exactly fond of visitors. Or even members of my order that happen to talk back to them too much." There was a slight wince to follow. "Just... be on your best behavior. That's all the advice I can really give you, and all I can really say about them. I'll talk to them, but they're pretty much the master of themselves to be perfectly honest." Surai knew it wasn't too much, and probably far less than what Maevia wanted, but she truly didn't think saying much more would be a good idea. Not here. Plus it maaaaaaaaaay be funny to see how the other woman would reaction. Maybe. Then the third question. Ah, yes. Somebody did their research. Surai's eyes narrowed a fraction. Honestly she shouldn't be so surprised. With how much security this girl had, it made sense she would look up what she could about Surai before she met with her. But instead of frowning with annoyance or fidgeting from nerves, Surai found herself smirking. Clever, clever girl. "I love it, actually." She answered frankly. Why shouldn't she? "It's almost always been my passion; I do love to learn and teach new things. I think our mutual friend knew that very well." The smirk changed to a genuinely warm smile. A full one this time. "Plus I love my kids. It's great to see them progress so much and to help them along. I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world." Well, unless Irilys really asked for it, but Surai highly doubted that would ever happen. "Was that all for now though? If so, I'd love to get moving. The sooner we get there, the sooner I can answer all your other questions. I know how annoying it can be to wait for details." She really, really did. "Also yes, your little friend can come along." she added with a smile. She hadn't forgotten but the other questions had seemed a tad more important at the time. "I'm sure our mutual friend would love to see them again."582 WORDS FOR Maevia Inclemens ― Well I guess we're technically sending them daughters, but they never really asked for sons in the first place

[attr="class","biggie"] [attr="class","textie"] THE LONG ROAD Maevia gave her a single nod. Of course it wouldn’t be as easy as simply finding it; if it were, Irilys could have done the task Himself. No, this was the start of the journey. Admittedly, she had no idea how to find a single soul out of a cycle, but Surai seemed confident in her ability to assist. That worked for Maevia. “Hmm,” she hummed in response to her explanation-or lack thereof- of the mysterious third party. Not exactly human, but helped keep things hidden; likely not a cyborg, then. Perhaps a ghost or spirit, in that case? Spirits were responsible for keeping Haven hidden, and having seen the city with her own eyes, couldn’t imagine anything else that could. Still, answers would reveal themselves in time. It would have to do for now. “Very well, I will keep that in mind.” She smiled and nodded at Surai’s enthusiasm for her work. She took the assessment with grace, too; the broker was getting the feeling that this woman would be easy to work with. Thank goodness for small miracles. “I can empathize,” she said. “I feel the same about my work. It’s always fortunate when someone finds their calling in life, isn’t it? May you continue to enjoy it.” Slowly, Maevia stood. She pushed back the hood on her head, letting her seafoam-green, messy hair show. She hooked a finger under the front of her mask and lowered it so it hung around her neck. Now that her face was uncovered, her small, business-like (but genuine) smile was on clear display, she offered a hand to Surai, over the desk and wall of monitors. A handshake, to seal their business partnership. “I believe I will look forward to working with you, Surai. I will not keep us here any longer.” With that, she walked around the desk to the cage and gently scooped the sleepy owl into her hands. It stirred, but only just, soon finding a more comfortable napping place in Maevia’s hoodie pocket. She gathered up a small blanket and towel, rolled them, and put them into a small messenger bag, along with a few toys and feed pellets to occupy the little one when it woke. And it would, too; never was the little scamp idle for long. She zipped up the pocket for a bit of safety and darkness for the bird, and tapped a few commands into the screen embedded in her cybernetic arm. The monitors went black, and security measures worked quietly behind the scenes to secure anything gathered today. She nodded to Surai. “Please, lead the way.” ===== Tags: Surai Bazzi Notes: Well sons never get anything done, so really we're just skipping a step and getting to the professionals [attr="class","iconie"] [newclass=.biggie]-webkit-transitionduration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover]margin-left:-300px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie]opacity:0;margin-top:-425px;margin-bottom:150px;width:285px;height:400px;padding:10px;background-color:#000000;border:solid 1px #000000;color:#e4e0e0;text-align:justify;overflow:auto;margin-left:10px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;font:11px calibri;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .textie]opacity:1;margin-left:610px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie::-webkit-scrollbar]width:10px;background:#000000;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background:#9589a0;border:2px solid #e4e0e0;[/newclass] [newclass=.iconie]opacity:0;margin-top:-240px;margin-left:-220px;margin-bottom:50px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .iconie]opacity:1;[/newclass] [newclass=.tagsie]opacity:0;font:11px calibri;color:#b7b7b7;margin-top:-75px;margin-left:-75px;margin-bottom:40px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .tagsie]opacity:1;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass]

See the line where the sky meets the sea; It calls me. Surai kept the smile. "It really is. May you continue to enjoy your work as well." And then the other woman stood. Surai hadn't been particularly peeved or anything when she'd seen the other woman masked. Again, it made sense with how much security the girl had to keep her face hidden. But now that she showed herself, Surai felt herself relax further. It was nice to put features to the person she was talking to. When a hand was offered the surajan woman extended hers in turn to take it and give it a firm shake. She was glad Maevia seemed glad to work with her, because Surai found herself feeling the same way. "Likewise, Maevia." It even came out genuinely. As Maevia got her little bird friend, Surai got up and merely waited. She hadn't really brought anything with her since she hadn't expected needing anything really. Once her companion was done Surai led the way outside. She hadn't been lying; it was going to take a few hours to get to where they needed to go. Which meant they had to drive there. Which meant they were basically going on an impromptu road trip with complete strangers. Surai explained as much, but there wasn't really anything else they could do. Unless Maevia suggested they take a different vehicle, Surai would end up driving them. Whether or not they made small talk (or Maevia had more questions) in the car, Surai was surprisingly fine traveling with the other woman. I mean yeah it was strange, but not nearly the strangest thing she'd had to do in service for her God. Nor the most frustrating. Whatever they ended up doing for and on the trip, they eventually arrived. The car was parked a little ways away while Surai once again took point on foot. They had traveled their way out to the countryside. Or, more importantly, the beach. As soon as those rolling waves came into view, Surai found herself smiling. The ocean had always managed to calm her down. She wasn't sure what it would do for her companion; hopefully she wasn't afraid of getting wet. Speaking of which... Surai turned in the sand to regard the other woman. Here came the hard part. "Now I know we've both been taking some leaps of faith here; it's not everyday I get in a car with a complete stranger." Even she could smirk at that. But it went away soon as a serious expression came over her face. "But you're really going to have to trust me here. The only way to get to where we're going is... a bit of a ride. And you may want to tuck away and hold your little friend close for this." Taking a few steps forward, Surai stepped into the water regardless of her shoes. She glanced back at Maevia. "You're not afraid of the ocean, right?"486 WORDS FOR Maevia Inclemens ― Why do I feel like we're recreating the "Do you trust me?" Scene from Aladdin right now?

[attr="class","biggie"] [attr="class","textie"] DIVE IN Despite how well the meeting was going and her positive perception of Surai, Maevia still hated taking risks. She hated not being in control. But she hardly had a choice in the matter. She would not miss out on such a grand opportunity; most mortals could probably go several life cycles without such a chance. So far the reward outweighed the risk. That was why she agreed to get in Surai’s car. Maevia was only good at small talk when trying to condition people into taking certain actions or giving out certain information; she was not good at honest small talk. So the ride was quiet, if the choice was left to her. She did not feel awkward at all; it gave her time to think. Questions ran through her head, left unspoken until they arrived. If her office wasn’t safe, a car wasn’t, either. She was curious about their stopping location; it seemed to be a vast area of… nothing. Naturally, such unassuming surroundings were great hiding places, but Maevia never really felt at home outside of the city. Her and nature weren’t exactly best buds. The silence wasn’t natural to her, either; what would relax most people only served to put her more on edge. Cars, sirens, crowds, casinos… those were the sounds that comforted her whenever she ventured forth from her bunker; within it, the constant hum of fans and computers was like a warm embrace to the cyborg. Waves and wind? Not doing it for her. Neither was Surai’s serious face and reaffirmation. Gods, no, what… underwater, really? She closed her eyes and took a breath. “Very well,” she said. She re-checked that her pocket was zipped tight, her bag secure, and her cigarettes somewhere where the water wouldn’t get them. With a protective arm, she secured the sleeping bird against her body. Maevia stopped at the edge of the water and looked down at the licking tide for a few moments. How the hell was she always getting into these situations? After a few clearly hesitant moments, she looked back up to Surai. “Saltwater doesn’t get along with cybernetics,” she said, circumventing the question. “I do what I must.” She took was she hoped weren’t her last breaths and tepidly followed Surai’s lead. ===== Tags: Surai Bazzi Notes: And now we're going to recreate little mermaid. See the line where the sky meets the sea; It calls me. The hesitation coming from the other woman did not go unnoticed. But then again, this was a rather strange request considering she didn't know exactly what was about to happen. Surai could at least appreciate that she was, in fact, going through with this. Not that she had much choice now, but still. She was clearly giving some effort and for that, Surai was thankful. Smirking only a little at Maevia's answer, Surai led the woman a bit further into the water. The water felt cold against her skin as it soaked into her shoes. But fortunately they weren't about to completely drench themselves. Once Surai had walked out a bit more, she inhaled and exhaled deeply for a moment. With hands clasped and a simple little bow, she spoke quietly. "I humbly request the aid of Chvali to bring me and this guest chosen by Irilys to the Library. Please." The words were spoken softly, so Mae might not catch them over the sound of the waves. But that was alright: there was only one being who had to hear them. Surai gave one final glance back at Maevia. A smile was sent her way; reassuring and calm. "It'll be alright; I promise. But... do remember to breathe." And with that she continued her way into the water. Only the waves didn't rise up to meet with her body. Rather, the water around her began to push out of her way, only leaving her feet still under as she continued further and further into the ocean. Surai had done this by herself many times at this point. It might look unsettling, but to her it was merely another trip back "home." As the water rose higher than her head it closed off her sight of the sky again, laying out above her once more. An air bubble had formed around her as she kept going deeper. And by the time she was finally submerged enough, the familiar tug on her legs soon carried her off ever deeper into the water at lightning speed. To Mae's point of view, the woman had walked into the depths before abruptly vanishing in a second- pulled into the murky dark void in an instant.

[attr="class","biggie"] [attr="class","textie"] HYDROPHOBIC Mae followed tepidly, shuddering more than a few times at the feeling of cold water on her feet. Ugh. Her shoes would be soaked… it was cold… and, ah, right. She never really learned how to swim. If Hell was real in this world, part of Maevia’s torture would be this very scene. In theory, she could go back; she could move her feet backwards, pedal out of the ocean, and have someone pick her up. Step by step, she waded further in Surai’s wake. Retreat wasn’t an option now. It simply… wasn’t. She missed what Surai said, but not what happened after. Every hair on her body stood on end at her words. Breathe… yeah, well, just the reminder almost stopped that. “…Right,” she said. Her feet still carried her forward, albeit just that much more slowly now. Before she could inform Surai that she didn’t actually know how to swim… the water did something very… unwaterlike. It was like a wall and carpet of ocean formed around her. She hugged herself tighter, making sure the little one was safe and snug in her pocket. When Surai disappeared, her feet stopped. No way in HELL were they willingly going to walk into whatever the hell that was. Her eye widened. She just… disappeared? Was there a dropoff? Did something pull her under? Was there some sort of transport mechanism? She had to force herself to keep going, taking tiny, cautious steps, and looking downward for any sign of a sudden drop in the water. “Surai…?” She said. She wasn't sure if an answer would have improved or worsened her nerves. Something told her to... be ready. ===== Tags: Surai Bazzi Notes: WOW NOPE [attr="class","iconie"] [newclass=.biggie]-webkit-transitionduration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover]margin-left:-300px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie]opacity:0;margin-top:-425px;margin-bottom:150px;width:285px;height:400px;padding:10px;background-color:#000000;border:solid 1px #000000;color:#e4e0e0;text-align:justify;overflow:auto;margin-left:10px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;font:11px calibri;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .textie]opacity:1;margin-left:610px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie::-webkit-scrollbar]width:10px;background:#000000;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background:#9589a0;border:2px solid #e4e0e0;[/newclass] [newclass=.iconie]opacity:0;margin-top:-240px;margin-left:-220px;margin-bottom:50px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .iconie]opacity:1;[/newclass] [newclass=.tagsie]opacity:0;font:11px calibri;color:#b7b7b7;margin-top:-75px;margin-left:-75px;margin-bottom:40px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .tagsie]opacity:1;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass]

spirit sighting
Chvali Spirit of the Ocean's Currents
➼ quick to anger ➼ required for site plots to continue 08/12/2017 | There would be no answer. Nothing but silence would be Maevia's response before she herself would experience the same fate as the one before her. The mortal would feel the distinct sensation of a force pulling at her. Her clothing and hair would be the first signs that it wasn't just her imagining this. A pull. It grew more and more distinct, her feet eventually being forced to take steps forward. And then in but a blink of an eye the situation shifted, drastically. Just as Surai had been, so too would Mae experience a sudden suction at a speed that could take one's breath away.
The speed would most likely be incalculable, especially given the mortal's surprise. Fear was usually a factor the first time around. But given into account that the trip was a long one made up of thousands of miles both in distance and depth, Maevia would eventually perhaps find herself in the same mental standing as others before her. She might crack those eyes open from their tightly closed previous state to witness what was about her.
Though light would become lesser and lesser the further they were pulled, Maevia would probably catch sight of Surai in the far off distance. Around a seemingly odd tube that, if touched, would be discovered to merely be water. This was a sort of elemental magic. Powerful. Above Mae could probably make out the dwindling light of the surface the deeper they would be taken. Whales, sea turtles, -- a giant squid would be seen at one point a mere rock's throw away.
Complex rock formations, caverns and canyons, exquisite coral reefs. The darker the vast oceanic world became the more frightening the aquatic life would take on appearance. Strange creatures. Some perhaps not even cataloged within the mortal sciences above. Within the next few minutes whatever light beams were making their way deep enough to be valid were no longer able. Unless she produced her own source of technological light, she would be traveling in pitch black darkness.
And would for a while longer.
So long in fact that any baby owls would have calmed from their initial frights and have turned bored. Perhaps even sleepy. Much like a pet traveling by car after a period of time had passed.
Along the way Maevia may have witnessed a few suspicious lights portrayed by creatures of the depths, wishing to lure in their feasts. But the one that would eventually be seen, it was different. A crisp blue hue could be made out as her journey continued, noteably towards it. The strange current that served as the adventure's strange mode of transportation would suddenly dip downwards once they grew closer to the only luminous entity within the black world of the depths.
They were entering a cavern where in fact there was not but one light. No. Multiple strange orbs would light up the walled in atmosphere they had just entered. The speed of which the mortals traveled would slow down exponentially, allowing a more accurate viewing of the strange sights the scenery had on display. Under the seas, this far in depth, lay the ruins of an ancient city. The origins in mortal history or its name most likely never even heard of by the Information Broker. The stone city was one lost in time. Sunken by a vengeful deceased God and repurposed to house one of the world's most precious monuments.
Where as the rest of the city had become algae covered, homes for fish, there was one landmark that appeared untouched in that regard. A colossal sphere encompassed the entire monument, a watery protective barrier that rippled but never broke. Surai would arrive first, the speed having slowed down enough that it would be akin to a children's slide in a park. The servant of Irilys would enter the sphere with a gentility upon dry marble ground. Any excess dampness would collect into tiny glistening orbs in the air and would float to plop into the barrier, sending ripples outwards.
Maevia's exiting of the current would be less gentle. If would be downright impressive if Mae was able to land on her feet instead of being sent sliding on her bum a few feet. Where as Surai experienced a magical drying of any leftover water, Maevia would receive no such thing. She was a newcomer. A stranger. The majesty of the architecture and forgotten dynasty would not yet be able to be observed. It wouldn't be long before a dark enormous shadow would cross over them. A sign that the one who had brought them to this place wished to have a word.
The being would push through a hand first, water rolling down the fingers, each just a few short feet of being a long as Maevia's entire height. The skin, for lack of a better word, would be hard in appearance. The spirit's head would allow her face to then enter through the sphere. Yellow inhuman eyes would stare unblinkingly down to the mortals that had asked for her assistance. The being seemingly built of hardened corals would look down with a near palpable air of intimidation. "Who. Has entered. The holy place I protect?" The spirit's voice would be a strange concoction of tones due to the multiple thicker lungs that were required to live within such a depth of the ocean.

See the line where the sky meets the sea; It calls me. Surai could remember the first time she had experienced her trip down. It had been... ok it had been absolutely terrifying. She'd been too freaked out to really get a glimpse of her surroundings as she was pulled further down into the watery depths. When you thought you were being dragged to a watery grave, it kind of made sense. Now however, Surai was used to the travel down. And she loved it. The woman had always loved he ocean, and this always provided a pretty lovely view up until they got to the darkness. Whatever was down in the briny depths didn't so much scare her as it did fascinate her. It was pretty obvious she was a follower of Irilys: she always wanted to learn more about the place. And there was a lot to learn. Eventually she reached the end of her trip and was gently placed down within the confines of the sphere protecting a section of the ruins. Surai had seen the place multiple times, but the beauty of it never failed to impress her. If only she'd been able to see it in its full splendor. But there was no time for that right now. As the remaining dampness on her person was kindly taken away, Surai turned with a thankful smile on her face. However she knew things were most likely about to get a little serious since she hadn't come alone. Even before the shadow came, she could tell Chvali's displeasure by the way she essentially dumped Maevia onto the marble. Kind of hard to miss that difference. Surai did her best to help Maevia as she entered the sphere. Wether she was sent skidding or somehow managed to stay on her feet, the surajan woman would help steady her up in a standing position and turn her towards their third party. As the giant spirit came into view, there was a small bit of instinctive worry at the intimidating air being given off. It was a gut feeling that came naturally. However it was largely battered down by other emotions the human felt towards the spirit's arrival. Rather than being scared, she was mostly glad to see the spirit. Despite the fact that, well, she didn't exactly sound happy herself. With a slight reassuring squeeze to Maevia's shoulder from helping her, she put her hands together and gave a bow towards Chvali first. Politeness was always a good thing with her. Hopefully Maevia would catch on to that. "Thank you for bringing us both down, Chvali." Surai said first, entirely grateful as she always was each time. When she straightened out again, she gestured towards her companion. "This is Maevia: Lord Irilys has tasked her with a quest that required her to come down to the Library. He asked me to accompany and help her, and I accepted." There would be no lying to the giant woman. Not from Surai. Not for a task this important. "She is helping us nullify the contract keeping another diety enslaved," Gods she hated that word, "And to do so she needed to see the contract itself in order to find the soul of the one who'd tampered with the contract in the beginning. She has assured us she won't tell another living soul about this place, and if Irilys trusts her... I can as well." For the first time since she had started speaking, Surai broke her line of sight with Chvali to look over at Maevia. Again she was reminded of the risk bringing someone down to see this place. But if Irilys trusted this woman enough to tell her about Kupiec's contract... Surai would trust in her God and trust her as well. Surai turned back to Chvali. "I promise you she was brought here for a reason, otherwise I would never bring another living soul to this place you protect." And she wholeheartedly meant every word.

[attr="class","biggie"] [attr="class","textie"] SHOCK AND AWE The fact that Maevia remained conscious throughout the ordeal was nothing short of a miracle. She wasn’t one to scream; even now, she kept her voice inside her head. On the outside, however, the ever-composed businesswoman was very clearly freaking the fuck out. The sights may have been beautiful, but Maevia never saw them through her clenched eyes. The little bird was jostled from its nap and also freaking out, though a bit more energetically than Maevia. That subsided, though, and fortunately for Maevia’s pride, it didn’t occur to her that it was embarrassing that a baby owl calmed down before she did. No, she was much too focused on this awful ride. She lost track of time and place; a part of her mind screamed for her to rally her courage and document this, or at the very least open her eyes so she could remember it. That part was loudly overruled by the thoughts of death and momentum. The only thing she had presence to do was to make sure the little owl stayed snug in her pocket, as there was no telling what was coming up next. Her exit was graceless, and her wet, curled form skidded across the floor. The floor her mind registered. Woozy and nauseous from the ride, she wanted to remain on the floor and take a post-trauma nap. With her hands, she felt around; yep, that was floor, and… yes, her bird companion was still with her. With that established, she let out a sigh of relief and forced her eyes open to take in her new surroundings. They went from shut tight to as wide as physically possible in a fraction of a second. The form was huge and terrifying, and there was no mistake of what she was; a spirit. So that’s what Surai meant by not quite human; she was humanoid, but also… not. Whatever she really was, one thing was obvious; she was NOT happy. The cyborg barely registered Surai helping her to her shaky feet, her eyes locked on the larger figure breaching the water. Was it proper manners to kneel in front of a spirit? She’d never met one, and never hoped to; that’s why she stayed in the city, after all. Whether or not it was necessary for respect, she fell to a knee anyway, mostly due to the fact that she didn’t feel stable on her feet (it was more of a fall to one knee than a court-graceful kneel before royalty). She looked to Surai when she felt the squeeze on her shoulder, and followed her lead with a bow. It was all she could do to resist falling forward on her face. She was screwed up, but not a fool; she knew to let Surai do the talking, and with any luck she could handle it by herself. Maevia did not seek to say anything unless spoken to. Even if she wanted to, she felt like if she opened her mouth her stomach might try to escape through it. If she was asked to speak, however, she would muster up her energy and gathered her dizzy thoughts and do what she did best. “I was asked to come by Lord Irilys,” she confirmed. “I have no intention of betraying His trust, nor Surai’s, nor the secret of this place. I understand that this is domain is more important than I could ever know, and my very presence is an unwelcome risk. I apologize for this trouble.” If she was feeling better (and bolder), she may have made a joke about not even seeing where it was on the way down. The tiny owl, now a bit wet , flustered, and above all, curious, wriggled its way out of her pocket and onto the floor, where it looked at her and gave her a curious “peep-peep” before looking around fearlessly at the others in the area. Maevia slowly went to scoop the little bird up, but it had already hopped out of her reach, closer to Surai. Rather than scramble, Maevia continued, hoping the interruption wasn’t seen as rude. “But as Surai said, I am tasked with aiding another, under the guidance of Lord Irilys. I beg of you to allow me to stay here long enough to complete my objectives, and no longer.” She knew Surai said be polite, but Maevia was not dishonest by any means, though she suspected that neither of these two, nor Irilys, trusted her entirely. And that was natural. Maevia’s words, however, were earnest; she could not imagine welcoming anyone to her private domain, her safe haven, her everything… the weight of this request was not lost on her. ===== Tags: Surai Bazzi Rinny Notes: All I wanna do / is not get torn in two / by a giant wo-man [attr="class","iconie"] [newclass=.biggie]-webkit-transitionduration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover]margin-left:-300px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie]opacity:0;margin-top:-425px;margin-bottom:150px;width:285px;height:400px;padding:10px;background-color:#000000;border:solid 1px #000000;color:#e4e0e0;text-align:justify;overflow:auto;margin-left:10px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;font:11px calibri;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .textie]opacity:1;margin-left:610px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie::-webkit-scrollbar]width:10px;background:#000000;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background:#9589a0;border:2px solid #e4e0e0;[/newclass] [newclass=.iconie]opacity:0;margin-top:-240px;margin-left:-220px;margin-bottom:50px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .iconie]opacity:1;[/newclass] [newclass=.tagsie]opacity:0;font:11px calibri;color:#b7b7b7;margin-top:-75px;margin-left:-75px;margin-bottom:40px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .tagsie]opacity:1;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass]

Chvali Spirit of the Ocean's Currents
➼ quick to anger ➼ required for site plots to continue 08/12/2017 | None of the words being spoken nor any of the acts of kneeling would beget any sort of response from the colossal spirit. Logically with her form being of a hardened coral, it made sense there would be no arching of eyebrows or softening of lips. But at the time of peering up to such an intimidating giant, it would be easy to not consider these facts. Humans had formed their own manners of communicating in the Olden Age, the altering of facial muscles playing a key part. Chvali would not be one to partake in such mortal customs even if her form was capable.
So it would be with zero feedback that the spirit would glare downwards upon the situation she was oh so not favorable of. "The Spider." Chvali would mutter to herself in the Olden tongue. That was why they were here. Her natural distaste for trusting those she did not know would have been painfully evident before. And yet if it had gone unnoticed the being was now drumming one large finger against the ancient tiled ground quite pointedly. The action causing the ground beneath them to tremor with each tap.
But even with all of the disdain she had directed towards the newcomer, her trust for the follower of Irilys greatly outweighed it. The green haired mortal could say whatever she wished. The baby bird could chirp and hop where ever it wanted. But it would all fall to the wayside of Surai's words. There would be a heavy silence that would come to pass. Consideration. Thought. During this time span a baby octopus that had seemingly been sleeping in one of the crevices upon the spirit's face would peer out, curious as to why the water had gone. If one were watching, the little one's tentacles would wiggle around and suction cup its way to droopily poke at Chvali's cheek, seemingly asking her to return to the waters.
That time was not now however. "Mortal, look at me." Chvali would begin, speaking in the odd human tongue she had learned through loyals of Irilys many centuries before. The spirit would glare down with the same piercing stare, nothing else demanding her attention but this one named Maevia. "You will do what you were asked to do. You may go where you wish, read what you will. It is the nature of this place. However,"
With a single smooth movement the being would, at first, seem to grow. In fact the being had merely given the jellyfish-like skirt around her a single bound. A graceful motion that, along with the assistance of her southern tentacles, would propel the giant spirit slowly upwards, following the curvature of the aquaous dome. Maevia's neck would be craning backwards if she were able to continue maintaining eye contact. Water trickled down as delicately as a gentle spring rain momentarily before the being drifted to a stop. "If you do not follow the Library's ordinance as explained by Lady Surai, you will never return to the surface." The giant being's tentacles would curl and uncurl as she spoke. As oft she did when perturbed. The action was perhaps similar to a human tightening their hands into fists over and over.
"I. am not. a deity." The spirit would strictly dictate. "I have no reason not to erase your existence from this world." Those yellow eyes would experience their first blink of the conversation. Or at least the equivalent of a blink. Water droplets would rise up from Maevia's left sleeve and would rise vertically until the entered the being's fervently glaring eyes. "Your body will obliterate long before you're given the chance to drown down here. And your soul will be mine the moment it does. Do you understand, mortal?"
If given an affirmative Chvali give a short, "Good". With but a minor movement of a finger Maevia would experience the same drying as Surai had been preferentially treated with upon her arrival. Not so much as a dampness would be left behind in clothing or hair as the water rose up in glistening orbs. Not a drop would be left upon the owl or ground they stood upon. "Do as the God of Knowledge has directed you. Precious One to the Goddess Ocean. Just because you leave doesn't mean I can't pull you back down. If you wrong the One who was precious to my Goddess, I will find you. Even within the sands of the driest desert."
With all threats being made, Chvali would finally direct her gaze for the first time to Surai. "Educate the mortal and speak my name when you wish for me." Upon hearing a response, the spirit would finally listen to the tap tap taps of the little one who had been flopping its limbs for her attention. The being's head would pull back, resubmerging into the ocean. The dome would close itself, successfully not allowing a single drop to fall. It would most likely be now that any new mortals would be able to get a full view of the spirit's entirety. With fluid smooth motions Chvali would swim slowly away, deeper into the abandoned ruins of a once proud city.

See the line where the sky meets the sea; It calls me. Surai kept her calm as much as she could during this whole event. The woman was painfully aware that bringing a guest to the library was typically a very no-no thing to do. She was also painfully aware of the fact that the spirit before them, no matter how highly Surai herself regarded the being, was quite capable and quite likely to kill her companion with a mere thought if she wished. It was like dancing barefoot on broken glass. Yet as much as Surai wanted to do something, she knew there really was nothing. All she could do was wait in silence while the spirit thought. Then as the large spirit pushed forward, Surai found her breath catching in her throat. For a good few heartbeats she remained slightly tense, eyes going back and forth between her cyborg guest and the ancient being looming over them. Moments passed before... Surai released a silent sigh of relief. Chvali's threat was quite painfully clear. Oh be certain of that; Surai knew the spirit could make good on her word. But, for the time being at least, it seemed another entry would not be added to the book listing the unfortunate few who'd managed to get on the giant's bad side. Hopefully the case would be the same when they'd have to leave. When that gaze was finally directed towards the surajan, she bowed again and offered a small but grateful smile. "Thank you, Chvali." Was all she said with genuine feeling behind it. Thank you indeed for not squishing her guest. Wouldn't that have been something to report to Irilys. No please. As Chvali swam away, blue eyes stayed locked on her until she moved out of sight. Once again Surai sighed, running her fingers through her hair. Finally she looked back at Maevia with a lopsided grin. "Well... That went well, I think." The teacher reported with a little breathless laugh. Some adrenaline admittedly had been coursing through her system. A natural response to the spirit's definitely effective intimidation tactics. "She didn't obliterate you on the spot so... so far so good. If we can get the same results on the way out, then I think we'll be golden." Dropping her hands to her sides again, Surai took one last glance at where the massive being had gone. Then she turned to the far smaller one she was accompanying. Concern was quick to spread throughout her features. The poor cyborg had faced the brunt of all that. "Sorry you had to go through that. It's definitely... Something when you first meet her. But like I said; I trust no other place to be so safe with her guarding it." Again there was a glance thrown back, but this would be the last one. Because honestly after that display, Surai thought the cyborg deserved a moment or two of rest. It wasn't every day you met an entity that could literally crush you with their pinky. And probably happily do so. "Do you need a minute or two though? I promise nothing else here is as extreme."537 WORDS FOR Maevia Inclemens ― I think that went well. Don't you think that went well? We're still alive, after all. Always a good thing
