| [attr="class","hbracket"]{ | [attr="class","htextbox"] [break][break] Nope. Too small. Not the right breed. Nope, that dog looked far to weak. So far there wasn’t much catching the hunters eye on his phone as he cruised through the internet. Aries looked at him from time to time beneath the tree that River was resting in within the Guilds confines. His companion knew very well what the other was doing and let out a small huff of distaste. Really, Aries didn’t think there needed to be a second dog in the mix but who was he to tell his owner differently? [break][break] Sure, chewing on his shoes was on thing but that never went over well. With another huff, the large Doberman lowered his head. River completely and utterly ignored the beast below as he knew very well his familiar wasn’t thrilled with the idea but someone had to train other familiars. Not everyone could do it and it often took sometime. Not to mention, River did want another dog and what best way to obtain one with the idea of having a second familiar. [break][break] Of course, that meant having to get more dog food, another dog bed, and other things that would be needed and he was totally okay with that but Oliver one the other hand? Well, that would remain to be unseen for the time being. He would deal with that when the time came for now he was wanting to find a decent puppy that might have some potential. Looking away from his phone for a moment he looked down at Aries who was now looking up and to the right. It seemed he was about to have a visitor, lovely. [break][break] Lowering his phone he raised at brow at the person who just decided to stop by for a visit. Daniel. It wasn’t someone he was accustomed in seeing let alone someone who would stop in front of his tree. Raising a brow he merely looked at the older hunter. Aries on the other hand lowered his head and went back to sleep. [break][break][break]OOC NOTES

“ The Righteous Side of Hell." This was starting to get annoying. Every time Daniel thought that he was done dealing with one issue or another, six more would pop up and lay any thoughts of rest in a shallow grave. He’d finally finished with the last pile of the day’s paperwork only for an aide to stop him to pass on a message. Apparently, the number of trained familiars was falling below this month’s minimum quota and there was a lack of experienced hunters to train them and the task of correcting that issue was being placed firmly on his shoulders.
What the hell else was new?
It was with a heavy sigh that Daniel returned to his office to review a list of all the current hunters with familiars, which turned out to be a mercifully short process. Most of the names on the list were already marked as on mission, but there was one that happened to stand out to the old wolf; Enki River, habitual slacker and general pain in Daniel’s ass.
Blink. Blink.
Well, seeing as there was no one else for the job, Daniel decided that he’d have to make do with the cards he was dealt. If he had to put some lazy ass to work, then by gods he was going to do so. He took a few minutes to search a few of the areas he’d used to hide in his younger days when he was more prone to slacking himself: the armory, the gymnasium, supply closets, etc. He finally found his quarry sitting beneath a tree in the courtyard with his own familiar.
“Enki,” Daniel called. “Just the guy I was lookin’ for. Nice day for a break, huh?”

| [attr="class","hbracket"]{ | [attr="class","htextbox"] [break][break] Hearing his actual first name had him utterly baffled. To be honest, he had gone by his last name for so long that he kind of forgot he had an actual first name. It felt pretty strange to be called by it that all he could do was stare blankly at the old hunter below. It took him a brief moment to get over the fact before he would turn his full attention to the old wolf. Shifting in the tree he would nod softly as Daniels obvious observation over the weather. [break][break] Now with his brain functioning once more he was able to think clearly. Strange, why would Daniel come looking for him? He highly doubted he was here purely for a quick chat. Daniel wasn’t really the type to strike him as the most conversational person in the Guild unless he had a reason to be. Which brought to mind, what did the old man want? Especially, from someone like himself who was perhaps one of the most laziest hunters on the face of the planet. He would prefer to nap in a tree then to run around town to handle all the rebelling magi. His head tilted slightly to the side while his eyes narrowed slightly to question the older man. Would he be sending him out on some far fetched mission to get his butt in motion or was there something more to it? If he was looking for Oliver then he was out of luck. River had no clue where the older man could be if he wasn’t at his desk. [break][break] Sitting up in the tree he would allow his legs to dangle from the limb he chose as his resting spot. Aries, below, shifted slightly only to double check on his Master. Once satisfied he was well the beast went back to sleep. ”Not many people come looking for me.” His hands gestured slowly with the notion that he couldn’t remember if Daniel could read sign or not. ”Is there something you need?” Obliviously, there was something but being polite sometimes meant to ask the oblivious. “ The Righteous Side of Hell." Daniel watched Enki signing away at him. He knew a bit of sign language, but it would be too much of a stretch to say that he was fluent in it. The old wolf knew enough to get by on a daily basis and was able to catch the gist of what the young man was trying to tell him. Even then, he could guess at what was being asked of him: the reason for this impromptu visit.
“Ya could say that,” .” Daniel answered. “Long and short of it is that the Guild’s a little light on familiars, so I need somebody ta train a few up to par. Problem is that everyone that’s got the training is out in the field or just hiddin’ from me.” .” He smiled wryly. “‘cept one guy that’s usually slackin’ off, that is. You might even know ‘im.” .”
If Enki still didn’t understand the point, then he was about to have a little light shed on the situation. “Here’s the deal. I’ma need ya for a special assignment ta boost the number of potential familiars for our brothers and sisters ta chose from. And before ya ask, no, you don’t have ta take the job. I’m sure I can find somethin’ else ta keep you occupied.” Namely cleaning the latrines and collecting any garbage that might happen to litter the courtyard and other menial tasks, but Enki needn’t know about all that. Hell, he could even be his scapegoat for all the paperwork that still needed a signature.

| [attr="class","hbracket"]{ | [attr="class","htextbox"] [break][break] Could say that, huh? Well, he wasn’t all that surprised to be quite honest but it didn’t really bother him all that much either. Well, for the time being at least. River stared down at the man with a raised brow as he listened to him talk about the issues. The guild needed more familiars and with him being the only one on the grounds it would be up to him to do get the numbers back up. To be honest, that wasn’t at all the kind of mission Daniel was going to try and throw at him. He had figured it would have been something more on the lines of finding some magi, bringing someone in, looking for Oliver, or on the off chance---doing something different. [break][break] Now there was the option to say no but in doing so would open a can of worms he probably didn’t want to encourage the opening of, at all. Shrugging his shoulders he would offer Daniel a small smirk. ”That won’t be too bad. I’ve been looking at some animals lately.” His hands moved slowly to make sure Daniel would be able to get the gist of it was best he could. He would even point towards Aries as a helpful way to make his point with a small nod. [break][break] This was something he could do for sure without issue. Hell, it was more right up his ally to be completely honest. Animals where much more enjoyable then actual people or magi for that matter. Easier to talk too as well and even more so when they bonded with you too. ”How many you looking for?” He wasn’t sure if there was an actual number Daniel was looking for or not but it was always helpful to ask. ”And how soon?”[break][break][break]OOC NOTES

“ The Righteous Side of Hell." Well, that was much easier than anticipated. Daniel honestly expected an excuse from Enki to somehow weasel his way out of doing any sort of work. Finding out that the opposite was true brought a hint of a smirk to his face. If only everything else about his job was that simple.
“Good ta hear it, kid,” Daniel said. “Well, so to speak anyway. Alright, so I’ll be needin’ about ten or so trained familiars in about . . . six months.” That was right, wasn’t it? It’d been a few minutes since he’d last looked at the report and he only glanced it over for prosperity’s sake. It wouldn’t really matter in the long run so long as he got what he needed; if not, there were always advantages to being an officer and allowing the proverbial shit to roll downhill.
Damnit, I’m startin’ to let this go ta my head now, Daniel thought.
“Make sure ya keep me updated. Be in my office ever couple of weeks ta let me know where I can help.” He started to walk away before another thought occurred to him. There was another resource the Guild was lacking as of late and it was one that he oversaw personally. Despite his chronic laziness, Enki was one of the more experienced Hunters he knew of; maybe he could be useful for that as well.
“One last thing,” Daniel added. “We need a few more Hunters that can take out spirits if they start gettin’ rowdy again. You interested?”

| [attr="class","hbracket"]{ | [attr="class","htextbox"] [break][break] Okay, let’s do a little back tracking here. Daniel wanted him to train new familiars. Okay, cool. He could do that however he did not expect to be having to train ten. Training ten familiars by yourself is like stepping into a daycare for the first time with no experience and someone handing you six three year olds. Then, that person promptly leaving you alone to your own demise. Now, If he was trying one at a time over a course of a few months then it would be very doable. ”I hope your in no hurry.” His hands moved to suggest that he was going to need time for that. There was a process to the whole training bit after all. [break][break] In the end he just nodded a few times as there wasn’t much more he could do about the situation. He had all ready agreed to it and thus sealed his doom. The next question cause River to raise a brow at the old wolf in question. Spirits? That was something new. ”Spirits?” He questioned slowly in sign to make sure he had heard correctly. [break][break] Spirits wouldn’t be so bad, right? Doing that meant he could be pulled away from hunting magi. It would be something new and probably far more interesting. Less mundane as well. ”Sure?” He offered a slight nod in thought. ”But, um, aren’t they like…invisible or something.” He made a few more gestures to try and get his point across better.

“ The Righteous Side of Hell." Enki’s body language was all Daniel needed to know that Enki had his reservations towards the idea of spirit hunting, and with good reason. He knew from firsthand experience that spirits were powerful opponents and nothing to be trifled with lightly; doing so was probably one of the fastest ways to end up dead. Even so, the young wolf seemed to be willing to undertake the task despite the inherent risks involved.
Daniel smiled when Enki suggested that spirits were invisible. Truth be told, he was mostly right on that point. Spirits were in fact invisible to almost anyone that came across them; it was part of the reason they were so dangerous. He—on the other hand—did not fall into that category.
“Ya know, kid, normally you’d be right ‘bout that,” Daniel agreed. “Thing is there’s a way for us Hunters ta actually see spirits if we want. Just gotta have the right skills and training.” Not to mention the blessings of the Goddess of the Hunt, but that was beside the point. “I could help ya get that training so we can actually start doin’ some good. I might be good, but I ain’t good enough ta take spirits on myself. Plus, I need ta train up a few more spirit hunters so it doesn’t get lost again.”
His pocket vibrated his attention away from the conversation at hand and he extracted the device. His assistant was hounding him with an apparent need to attend to another matter. Daniel sighed as he returned his phone to his pocket.
“Sorry ta cut this short, but I’ve gotta take care of something,” he said. “I’ll get back with ya on the spirit thing. You just make sure those familiars get trained up, yeah?” He’d wait around for anything thing else Enki had to say, then he’d leave to go about his business and leave the young wolf to his own.

| [attr="class","hbracket"]{ | [attr="class","htextbox"] [break][break] Well, at least his memory served him correctly for a change. Spirits where indeed invisible to the naked eye. The idea of seeing said monsters caused the raven haired youth to cock his head to the side, studying Daniel carefully. It seemed like a pretty good offer regardless of the job to the side of training so many familiars. Making a small noise in thought he merely nodded at him. Maybe, switching to Spirits would do him better and allow him to actually sleep at night when he was alone. Rather then being stuck thinking about his past choices, especially the ones about Aria. [break][break] ”Sounds like a good thing.” He offered the man another nod. Yes, he was pretty sure he would hit Daniel up on this training thing about spirits. It would be a good break. Looking down at Aries who now looked him the beast seemed to be okay with the idea as well. A new game and a new kind of prey. [break][break] At the mention of him having to go the raven haired hunter would nod one finally time and give him a small thumbs up. Lord, he had a lot to do it seemed now. He had to go and find more animals that would make suitable familiars for those in need. Geez, what was he getting himself into? First familiars and now spirits. [break][break] Ah well. At least it was something new.
