Gutting fish was always a messy thing, but if his catch was to be eaten as intended, it had to be done. Personally, Nobu didn’t mind it much. The task was far from unfamiliar, and his hands moved with a practiced ease as he cut open and removed the innards from each fish. A scattering of their more predatory brethren had gathered to splash and snap around the surface of the lake as the magi flicked unneeded parts away into the water.
But aside from the hungry school, he had no audience. In fact, part of the reason he had traveled away from Haven was to avoid one. After all, even he experienced moments in which he wanted to be alone, at times.
As he finished cleaning out another fish, Nobu rose from where he sat near the water’s edge to hang it from a drying rack, alongside several others he had already finished with. Later, when he was finished gutting the rest, he would draw the water out with his magic, gather up his spoils, and be on his way. However, that was still a good way off, considering the number of fish left in the net sitting beside him. But he was in no rush,
Reaching for another fish, the water magi began his work anew, cutting a single, smooth line along its belly. One discarded piece splashed into the water after another, but over that noise, Nobu just barely caught another which gave him pause. His hands stilled in their work, and back stiffened. Eyes narrowed, he shifted in search of the new sound’s source.

Post"Wicked" Aiden Garnette Aiden stepped gently over muddied and wet grounds, cracking the occasional twig or leaf underfoot before approaching and settling down alongside the burgeoning lake. Singsong trees whistled with the winds as gibbering hoppers chipped in tall, reedy grasses. The former hunter briskly strolled on by, a blank and yet still serene expression on his features. The breeze was salty and a bit rough, occasionally sending a striking shiver up his spine on the walk he chose. The next stop was just pass the lake and he could bypass a troublesome part of the road. Gazing from overhead on an small disheveled tree stump, he favored staying closer to the treeline and not venturing off in case any sort of animal would wander close. Not that he often encountered wild animals, but he often made it a point not to needlessly kill them. As he made a quick leap over a muddier patch of ground, he heard a very smooth and distinguished cutting sound coming from past the next thicket of trees and bushes. It took him a moment to slow his walk to a tiptoe, trudging up and around the thickets and rogue tree branches. Once he was over the small hill, he heard another distinct 'Splash' that was synchronously accompanied by another loud 'Crack' from underneath his own foot. The twig splintered, snapped when he hadn't seen it amongst the shade. To himself, he cursed underbreath and braced himself for a voice or something to pick him out. A rock? Was someone throwing rocks in the lake? The trees for the moment obscured his vision and maybe dampened the sound coming from farther up ahead. Eschewing stealth for the moment, Aiden quickly and silently rolled around the bushes until he was just close enough to see the figure by the waterline. Down by the lake, he spotted the man with the silvery hair a tad more like his own. A mark of silence overtook him as the figure didn't seem to have noticed him yet, but Aiden was relieved to find that he was no Hunter or wild animal. Taking his hand away from his knife, Aiden did not need prompting to step forward into plain sight. He recognized a Magi quite easily, though knew that also meant he wasn't going to be easily trusted. He spotted and noted the fish being peeled and skinned in his hand along with the drying rack filled with the ones that had already been skinned. "Hold it! Not here to hurt you!" Aiden placed both his hands in front, smiling without remorse. "Didn't mean to startle you, but excuse me if I was passing by."

When nothing immediately appeared, Nobu began to slowly rise to his feet. As he moved, he set the fish in his hands aside, and readjusted his grip on the blade he was gutting it with. It might not do much good, but it could serve as a distraction if nothing else. Even a clumsy throw would buy an extra second or two… But he was getting ahead of himself. As of yet, no one had appeared… until he caught sight of movement in the underbrush further up the shore. His stance lowered, and the appendages on his back flared instinctively. For a moment, catching sight of a head of silvery hair, he thought the other might have been a magi, but as he stepped into plain view it was easy to see this was not the case. Nobu’s expression soured rather quickly upon this revelation. However, as long as this human proved good on his word, he would be allowed to leave unhindered. He had better things to do today, anyway. “Then you had best be on your way, human.” Though his posture straightened somewhat, his grip on his knife did not loosen one bit. At his back, the water of the lake rippled pointedly. “Preferably before you outstay your welcome.” Such as it was. All told, the man’s presence wasn’t very welcome at all, and would be tolerated only enough to allow him enough time to pass by, as the human claimed he had been doing. Aiden Garnette

Post"Wicked" Aiden Garnette The terse, unwelcome greeting was a bit of a shock, but Aiden still advanced and kept the smile on. "Aww, but I saw you peeling fish and I thought I'd help. You looked quite skilled at it." The compliment was short and Aiden kept his hands where they could be seen, offering no other reason for the Magi's distrust. The Magi's appearance was a bit of a surprise for Aiden, though in his many dealings with Magi he never really put much stock in appearance anymore. "So I promise you: I'm not here to hurt you. I was passing by, but pardon if I was hoping to ask a couple questions. My name is Aiden.. I'm a frequent traveler in these parts." He wouldn't sit down until welcomed, though he also hoped to put up enough of a front. "This place is pretty scenic. I didn't think there'd be a good fishing spot here." He marveled aloud from afar and still staying a safe distance away. As much as he hated to admit it, Aiden also was kept wary by the gutting knife in the Magi's hand. Perhaps it was experience or just instinct, but any second he was prepping to move and expect the knife to be thrown at him or some form of magic to be used against him. The grass crunched underneath his feet as he stood, feeling a bit uneasy as he awaited a response.

The human wasn’t leaving. Why wasn’t he leaving? Had he not made his hostility clear enough? Nobu’s eyes narrowed, and he raised the knife in his hand to jab in the interloper’s direction. “If you considered me skilled, then why would you think you should help? I do not need it, nor do I want it.” He jerked the blade to the side, waving the human off. “Leave.” Of course, it wasn’t that simple. This one had more to say, about his reasoning for being here and his name… All empty, as far as the water magi was concerned. An irritated snarl sounded in his throat. “If I was concerned about being injured, you would already be at the bottom of the lake. I don’t care what your name is, and you may keep your questions to yourself.” In a huff, Nobu spun around and returned to his fish, snatching up another to begin roughly removing its innards. The part of him that wasn’t focused on maintaining awareness of where the human was, took heart in imagining that his work was being done on the silver-haired annoyance. As tempting as further harsh commentary was, the lion fish magi refrained from responding any further to the human’s inane observations. Perhaps pretending to ignore him would encourage him to be on his way, if his earlier behavior had not. Otherwise, he supposed there was always outright attacking this Aiden. There was no one else around, and the water was right there… Maybe if he got any closer, or asked his questions anyway, or stuck around for much longer… Aiden Garnette

Post"Wicked" Aiden Garnette The cutting verbage rolled, though Aiden was perfectly content to stand there and not move from the same spot. His eyes turned to their environment for a moment, though the Magi had made it clear his hostility and dampened Aiden's greeting. It was unfriendly to say the least, but he wasn't about to mind it. The Magi had answers to his questions so he could brush off some rudeness. Wearing his trademark smirk, it almost would seem like he was aiming to provoke the Magi into a confrontation and in fact that would be something of an interest. "Fine then, have it your way. Go right ahead and try." he switched into his taunting, now actively daring to see if the Magi would willingly try and attack. Aiden grasped his knives, waiting and offering the first move to the Magi sitting beside the riverbed. He wasn't going to leave the clearing, not without a fight or at the very least a scuffle it seemed. He would react and move. Aiden didn't like fighting Magi, but no way was he going to turn away at this point. As much as he hated to admit it, the ex-hunter knew how to fight magic with blade. It was an art form he might not have practiced in a long time, but it had been driven deep into his bones. There was always that sense of uncertainty as to what the exact power you would be dealing with was. As a Hunter, he remembered the sense of excitement when it came to getting a new weapon, but that was now long gone. If he needed to at least fight to prove that he would not walk away, he decided in this instance to steel himself for it for the first time in many years.

“Go right ahead and try.” Nobu’s eyes narrowed dangerously at the challenge, although with his back to the human, it was unlikely the man could see it. As he carefully set aside the fish he had been working at, and the knife, the magi made no move to respond. He just rose fluidly to his feet, and half turned to find the human now had his hands on his weapons. A brief, tense moment passed. Then came a hiss; “As you wish.” Abruptly, the lion fish magi leapt away, springing out over the water before him. As he did, he twisted around in midair, and pulled at the water of the lake beneath him while he slowed to a stop about a foot above it. All around him, thick tendrils of water shot upward to lash through the air, and raced away toward the silver-haired fool on the shore. They would swing at him from multiple directions, attempting to whip and slam against his body to knock him off balance or push him closer to the water. All the better to drag him under and watch the life bleed from his bulging eyes… Every movement and maneuver, Nobu would chase to the best of his ability, driven ever onward by a rapidly building rage. The human had been warned, and like so many of his stupid brethren he had chosen not to heed it. Perhaps now, he would, although at the moment the water magi was not in much of a mood to let him get away, should he try to flee. Aiden Garnette (ooc: Hope this is alright.)

Post"Wicked" Aiden Garnette Ahh a Water Magi. That was going to be easy. Once he had made the connection, Aiden simply smirked as his mind whirred and whizzed with lively expectation. As said, it had been quite some time since he had actively battled a Magi but his habits were still alive and well. Once he knew their type, it was only a matter of gauging their skills, strengths, and weaknesses from a distance while dodging attacks. Luckily, Aiden was a master when it came to fighting Magi from a distance. His reflexes were honed for that distinct aspect of his combat ability. The tendrils were speedy and slick, but Aiden had already dialed up his moves ahead of time. He slipped over the ground, lithely taking refuge behind the huge trunk of the nearest tree as the tendrils washed in. Out and about on the lake made the estranged Magi a much harder target and even Aiden had to admit that battle on a Magi's own turf was ideally to be avoided. Still though, his skill in this instance was not insignificant. The lethal, serpentine tendrils slashed even through the wood and lashed the background to pieces. With great agility, Aiden stayed on his toes and used the landscape to avoid the magic. As a test, he threw one of his low-quality saxe knives at the Magi, sending it spinning widely as a test. The knife veered just enough that it would graze the Magi at best or be blocked by the waves of water at his disposal if he reacted quickly. He watched the blade studiously, judging the arc of the throw and the Magi's reaction to it as he slid beneath another hiding spot. Without being dragged into the swamp, he would need a way to disable the Magi and his first instinct was to go for his process of trial-and-error. Could he frustrate or trick him? His eye went to the fish that were being peeled before, but he decided not to go that route. If he wanted to earn his friendship, he needed to not aggravate him further. He kept a wide field of vision as he moved along the shore, staying low to the ground and using his agility and experience to his own advantage. Aiden jumped abruptly and twisted his body in midair, kicking off a tree limb to launch himself over to the next field of cover across a clearing that was pretty open just as one tendril came rushing in. If he had tried to run, the rush would've stunned and grabbed him. Water Magi were strong and their spells were difficult to deal with directly head-on, but past battles had also taught him to keep a look out. They often left some pretty stellar openings and judging from the Magi's attack pattern, he was only moderately skilled compared to a master. That meant this battle was Aiden's for the taking, he only needed to be patient and not let the opponent get off a clean hit on him from afar.

Me and my elastic heart [attr="class","rise"] [attr="class","dying1"] [attr="class","mouths1"] He had agreed to help Nobu with fishing today but he wasn’t all that good at it, it turns out that fishing wasn’t breed into water magi. Kaveri was anything but good and seemed to lose more fish then he was able to keep. Being a bit useless in this manner, Kaveri had decided down go down stream and check on the traps Nobu had set out the other day. Plus, it have him a reason to excuse his rather embarrassed self from a chuckling Nobu. The two of them seemed to be on better footing after their last adventure together and seeing eye to eye was a good thing for a growing friendship. Having rolled up his pants to his knees and adjusting his crop top he fished out plenty of fish from the traps and emptied it into a basket that he was now caring against his hip on his way back up to Nobu. It seemed like he was much better at emptying pre-made traps rather then catching them any other way. Feeling pleased with himself he was certain Nobu wouldn’t be laughing now! While one hand supported the basket, the other worked on adjusting the ponytail on his head. He was working on taking it down when he finally reached the area he had originally left Nobu. Midway with the tie still halfway through his hair he took in the seen before him. To his left was Nobu being an angry water magi and to his right looked to be the source of his anger. At the current distance he wasn’t really sure who it was but he was certain it was probably someone harmless. Grumpily, he made his way towards them with his bell anklets ringing with each step. Nobu was sending attacks out like a wild animal and whoever was under attack didn’t at all seemed worried about it. Rolling his eyes, Kaveri finally reached them to get a good idea what was happening and that snowy hair he caught a glimpse off all ready let him know what the situation was probably about. He thought about letting it carry on but he would rather not have the rocks suffer whiplash. But then again, maybe it wouldn't hurt to watch Aiden dance around like a fool. ”Nobu, what are you doing? I leave you alone for no more then ten minutes and you are all ready fighting someone? Honestly!” He quickly turned on his heels, causing the bells to rattle violently around his ankles. Shifting his weight to one side, he looked right at Aiden as he played the dodge ball game. The jellies right bare foot tapped on the grass as he watched him and wondered if it would be best to allow Nobu to just beat him senseless for a time. ” Seriously ?” Kaveri muttered under his breath with a moan. No, he should stop this right now. Groaning again, he slipped one toe into the water and quickly redirected his own water to form a thin barrier in front of the other magi's current attacks, blocking some. ”All right, enough of this, boys! “ He paused, shooting a glare over at Nobu to make sure he knew that Kaveri was serious on this little fight ending right now. “Aiden, What did you do?” He looked very unimpressed with the two men…and he suddenly felt like he was a teacher about to slap two young boys across the wrist. The human was proving to be… frustratingly slippery, he had to admit. Though a few strikes came close, nothing landed. He’d known he would be up against a fighter, sure— people tended not to carry knives like the ones he carried just for show— but to be unable to touch him at all was unexpected and irritating. It wasn’t enough to throw him off-kilter, but it did encourage him to lash out harder and faster. Slapping away the thrown knife with one tendril— and quietly noting the apparently intentional sloppiness of the throw— Nobu continued pursuing the human along the shore with renewed vigor, but his quarry remained quick and difficult to pin down. He barely even noticed the approach of another, focused as he was on his assault, until the jelly snapped at him aloud. Pausing briefly, he half-turned to find an oddly displeased Kaveri glaring daggers at him. “Kaveri—“ Before the lion fish magi had time to explain that he was just trying to drive off an irksome parasite, and that the other really had nothing to worry about, a barrier appeared in front of the water he was manipulating, blocking him from attacking the human further. A look caught between shock and betrayal appeared on Nobu’s face. What on earth was he doing?! This human was clearly dangerous, and— “Aiden.” Nobu blinked at that. Kaveri had called the human by name— one he recognized no less. Hovering closer to the other water magi, eyes narrowed suspiciously, he asked, “That is Aiden?” Oh no, this wouldn’t do at all. Aiden was a human, and humans… Humans were… No. No, he didn’t like this one bit. Aiden Garnette Kaveri Dali

Post"Wicked" Aiden Garnette He had been smoothly evading the torrent of water, preparing for his counterattack when a familiar voice and figure interrupted his thoughts and moved in to block the next projectile. He had been focused completely on the Magi himself so the intervention caused him to freeze for just a mere moment when the next projectile was abruptly stopped by a barrier and the appearance itself startled him. "Kaveri? What the hell are you doing here?" Aiden sputtered out in a small bit of surprise. He hadn't expected that he'd find Kaveri out here, though upon thinking about it Kaveri seemed to like this lake so finding the other Magi out here shouldn't have come as too much of a shock. It was convenient to find though that the two of them were acquainted, "Don't look at me. I didn't do anything. I complimented him and tried to be friendly even!" Aiden stood back, sifting behind the tree again in case of a restart of hostilities. Not that they were expected, but it seemed that the other Magi did have quite the huge grudge against him. Aiden yielded, though wasn't going to come out from behind cover. "Kaveri, you know him? If he's finally calmed down, I'm open to talking. Call a truce for me would ya? No more waterworks." Aiden pointed with a stiff finger point at the Magi out on top of the lake. "He's just been throwing more tendrils at me. All I've done is dodge them."

Me and my elastic heart [attr="class","rise"] [attr="class","dying1"] [attr="class","mouths1"] Standing tall he looked between the two men before sighing softly. He hadn’t a clue what could of triggered them to play the water tango but he assumed it might just because of either a misunderstanding or Nobu’s prejudice towards humans. Regardless of the reason he placed his basket down on the ground as he replied. ”I could ask you the same thing, Aiden. But I came out here to help Nobu,” He paused for a moment to gesture to the water magi near him. ”catch some fish but I failed at that and went to check his traps instead.” His explanation was clean, simple and to the point with no fluff at all. With the basket out of his hands he gently shook his hands free of any wetness that remained upon them. Glancing over at Nobu, he offered him a gentle smile as his temper was slowly melting away for the time being. ”Yes, Nobu. That is Aiden. That is the human I was telling you about before who is very much on the same level of pervert you are on. “ A second later he sighed, ”Come now, don’t give me that look. I am on your side as much as I am on Aidens.” As he spoke he turned his attention back towards Aiden and offered him the same smile but the two men could probably take note that his gentle smile was fake as ever. While it was true his temper was going down he was still annoyed with both of them. ”As entertaining as it is to watch you dance around I suppose I could ask Nobu to stop slapping you about.” Turning his body to face Nobu he did just that, ”Nobu, please stop and Aiden, please don’t do anything that’s going to cause Nobu to want to smack you. He doesn’t favor human’s all that well but I am pretty sure you all ready guess that, hm?” ”If you two will play nicely we could have a proper introduction for you two. Though Nobu, I promise, Aiden is anything but dangerous. He can be a rather charming fellow when he isn’t trying to be a dirty man.” He smirked a this while tapping the side of his chin. ”Kinda like you in a few ways, give oru take.” He looked at them both for a moment and pondered if they would be able to behave for more then a few minutes. ”So, should I ask what got your non-existing panties in a twist, Nobu?” His smirk grew larger for a brief moment as he debating on what he should do with these two individuals. They where going to have to get along for at least five minutes if they where going to make any headway at all. His eyes remained on Aiden for the time being. He would then chuckle he forgot how fast the human could move around like a very cute and well trained monkey. It was sorta endearing even if both of the men had pushed Kaveri’s buttons more then once. Now he was just flat amused with the two---it was like breaking up a school yard fight. Cute, but annoying. The parasite called Aiden spoke the other magi’s name, and bile rose to the back of his throat. His expression curdled while the pair spoke, chatting like friends, and he drifted toward the shore. “You were told to leave,” Nobu snarled at the human, shooting a glare that would kill if it could. “When you did not, you requested I try to kill you. It seemed only polite to oblige.” And if he had just sat still, they could all have moved on by now. Unfortunately, it was not to be. He rounded on the jellyfish magi then, eyes burning with a barely contained rage. The second his feet touched dry land, he stormed toward Kaveri until they were nearly face-to-face. “Don’t you dare lump me in with that filth,” Nobu hissed, just quietly enough not to be heard by the human still cowering behind the trees. The rest of what his fellow magi had to say, he barely listened to— his disgust at this discovery was too great. Kaveri, associated with a human, saying he was on his “side”… How he could be so naive was beyond him, but at the moment he was too angry to bring himself to care, regardless of the reason. Jerking away again, Nobu turned toward the fish he had left behind, and began gathering them up in the nets he had brought with him. The time had come, he felt, to leave. “If the parasite does not wish to be drowned, he will leave. I have no interest in being introduced to him.” Kaveri Dali Aiden Garnette

Me and my elastic heart [attr="class","rise"] [attr="class","dying1"] [attr="class","mouths1"] The urge to face palm was mighty but Kaveri kept himself from doing it. One, his hands smelt like fish. Two, he was afraid he might bruise his forehead, and lastly he might end up smacking the racist out of Nobu instead. Taking a deep breath he did his best to steel his nerves in order not to have a bit of a twitch with the other water magi. He was about to open his mouth to point out that Aiden was a harmless human and he had every right to be out here just like they did. But bless Airthelia’s heart, he just had to open his mouth again and this time get extremely close to his face. This move was highly uncalled for in the priest eyes and must be addressed. Looking at Aiden and then to Nobu he took a deep breath and moved towards his fellow magi. Reaching out, he took Nobu gently but firmly by the arm to gain his attention. The jelly wasn’t at all sure what to say to him but he had to do something. ”I know you don’t like humans but you have no right to act this way. Aiden hasn’t done a thing against you. You could at least give him some slack and me as well. He’s helped me a lot and is a good friend of mine, just like you.” His words came out softly in order to keep Aiden from hearing most of it but he knew that man to be rather observant. A second later, he felt his brow twitch and his grip tightened on Nobu without even realizing it had done such a thing. ”And he is not a parasite nor will you try to drown him either.” He was so firm with his own words that it startled him a little. Clearing his throat, he quickly returned to his usual kinder voice, back tracking to let Nobu know he wasn’t picking sides. He loved having Nobu be his friend as much as he did Aiden. He just wanted the two people he liked to get along. ”Please, can we just try to get along with each other? He can help us carry the fish and you needed help today, right?”[attr="class","lying1"]✎ Nobu , @aidengaranette [/i][/div][/div][/div] ulla [/div] [newclass=.we1]background-image:url(http://i.imgur.com/pwAXUvP.png);height:380px;width:400px;padding-top:120px;overflow:hidden;[/newclass][newclass=.avatar]background-color:#363636;width:50%;padding:10px;opacity:.9;transition:1s;border:#666 1px solid;padding-top:30px;padding-bottom:30px;transition-delay:2.5s;[/newclass][newclass=.lost1]font-size:12px;font-family:Alegreya Sans SC;color:#fff;letter-spacing:2px;padding:10px;background-color:#363636;opacity:.9;border:#666 1px solid;width:50%;transition:1s;margin-top:10px;margin-bottom:10px;transition-delay:2.5s;[/newclass][newclass=.trying:hover .lost1]opacity:0;transition:1s;[/newclass][newclass=.trying:hover .avatar]opacity:0;transition:1s;[/newclass][newclass=.rise]padding-top:25px;height:475px;width:400px;background-color:#272727;opacity:.8;margin-top:200px;transition:2s;transition-delay:1s;[/newclass][newclass=.trying:hover .rise]margin-top:-360px;transition:1.5s;transition-delay:1s;[/newclass][newclass=.dying1]width:80%;padding:10px;background-color:#1a1a1a;border:#444 1px solid;opacity:0;transition:1s;[/newclass][newclass=.mouths1]color:#eee;font-size:10px;text-align:justify;height:370px;overflow:auto;padding:5px;[/newclass][newclass=.lying1]width:80%;padding:3px;background-color:#1a1a1a;color:#777;font-size:10px;text-align:left;border:#444 1px solid;margin-top:10px;padding-left:10px;padding-right:10px;opacity:0;transition:1s;[/newclass][newclass=.trying:hover .dying1]opacity:1;transition:1s;transition-delay:2.5s;[/newclass][newclass=.trying:hover .lying1]opacity:1;transition:1s;transition-delay:2.5s;[/newclass][newclass=.trying ::-webkit-scrollbar]width:7px;[/newclass][newclass=.trying ::-webkit-scrollbar-track-piece]background:#444;border-left:3px solid #1a1a1a;border-right:3px solid #1a1a1a;[/newclass][newclass=.trying ::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background:#000;border:#444 1px solid;[/newclass][newclass=.dying1 b]color:#508ACC[/newclass][googlefont=Alegreya Sans SC][/div][/div][/div]

Nobu made no move to even look at the other magi while he spoke, busying himself instead with his preparations to leave. Of course, he still listened to what Kaveri had to say— every word of it. He just wasn’t particularly interested in agreeing with him. “I hate humans,” he corrected coldly, stopping only because the jellyfish magi had him by the arm. Folding nets was difficult with only one hand at his disposal. “And I am well within my rights to act on it.”He tried pulling away as he felt Kaveri’s grip tighten, the motion far from gentle. “Humans are dangerous, Kaveri. You are a fool if you honestly think any one of them could be a friend to you.” His eyes narrowed, then, and lips curled into a harsh sneer. “If he does not wish to drown, then he will leave. As I said.” Another tug was given, harder this time. He did not want to hurt Kaveri, but he had absolutely no intention of staying either, now that this Aiden had come to meddle where he did not belong. The change in the other’s tone did nothing to help matters, as much as he would have preferred to treat his friend in a kinder manner. “I do not need help from a human, and if he so much as touches anything, I will kill him and let the fish have his body. If you are so intent on your misguided care for that man, then convince him to leave while he still breathes.”Kaveri Dali Aiden Garnette
