The most annoying thing to Embry this evening was not the pudgy man who was wearing too much cologne to her right, nor the arm candy he had brought with him. It wasn't the waiters coming up to her every five minutes, asking if she needed a refill, though she clearly did not. It also wasn't the Art Museum director trying to get her attention to come 'look at this, or that' or whatever. It wasn't even the people who were crushing into the museum, not to view the unveiling of a talented new artist, but to try and rub elbows with the higher politics in the room. It was the fact, that all Embry wanted to do was light up a cigarette. She gave the pudgy man a bright smile. "Mr. Wopplefur, you will have to forgive me. I must attend to something. Embry turned, gliding her way through the crowd.
She was glad to get away from that stuffy guy, and his brain dead arm candy. Surpressing a shudder, she stopped at the painting that they had unveiled tonight, making some comments to the people standing in front of it. It was Mr. and Mrs. Tolley, wealthy benefactors of the party Embry technically for all intensive purposes supported. She made polite conversation, steering it gradually from art, to charity, to donations for the new campaign. Before she left, Mr. Tolley found himself giving a 'more than generous' donation to her, and her party members. She smiled, shaking his hand, and the hand of his wife, admiring her outfit before moving on. She had promised her publicist she would be good. She wouldn't light up in front of a bunch of paparazzi tonight.
"Just this one night!" Her publicist had pleaded with her. She rolled her eyes, fixing her glasses and pulling out her small silver tin that kept her cigarettes in. She finally found the back stairwell, moving down it quickly and stepping out into the fresh evening air. "Finally." She waved off her 'escort' who had followed her as she stepped back onto the main street. People were so boring and predictable, and she lit up, taking a long drag. This was her addiction. She had successfully negotiated some offers that would hopefully come through in the week coming. Politically, it was slow right now, being an off year of elections, but she was constantly looking for new sources, new dirt, and new deals to break. Taking another drag, Embry leaned against the side of the Art Museum, finally feeling her mind calm down as she plotted her next strategy. She had recently lost some sources to...less than favorable circumstances....her thoughts were interrupted by her phone ringing. Pulling it out of her jacket, she answered it. The shrill voice of her publicist on the other end just made her mad and she hung up.
She would deal with her in the morning. She looked back at the museum, thinking maybe going back in for a scotch then just shook her head. "Fuck that." Flicking her cigarette butt, she moved up to the valet they had for this 'special night' at the museum and handed him her ticket. She lit up another cigarette as the boy said it would be a few minutes. "How tedious..."

Post"Wicked" Aiden Garnette It wasn't the safest place for him to be at that moment; being in Felici by itself was taxing and highly dangerous. Being man-hunted by a large guild of trained magi-killers was bound to wear on one after a time period and he had been at it for over 8 years now. He hadn't set foot in Felici for most of or even all that time, a place he knew held opportunities he could exploit under the right circumstances, especially considering how shady the city had become over the years. Embry Delacroix, one of the few influential names Aiden knew of who held some promise.
Politicians were downright not his favorite game, but in the heart of Felici he needed powerful allies and to be cleverly hidden from hunters in in order to escape recognition and being easily caught. Really, every moment was walking on eggshells. As he had gathered, Ms. Delacroix was in a bit of a tough spot in her work. Details were mired in headlines and other things Aiden hardly cared to get involved in, but it wasn't hard to read between the lines. His thoughts blurred for a moment as he slithered along the afar edges of a patrolling guard's field of vision while veiled in the sanguine hues of nightfall. The lights from the museum were encompassing and illuminated quite a bit, but not everything was so well-guarded and he even found an instance where two guards were nodding off on the job with their heads drifting downwards. That made his infiltration all the easier.
Garbed under a cloaked hood and face mask, it was vital he keep the lowest profile while entering the main area where the outside valets and attendants to the politicians were stationed and immediately talking. He flitted downwards from atop a shadowy tree, dropping close to a pair of bushes that had been artfully and carefully cut into shapes on display. The courtyard itself was wide with a few spaces hidden by the shadow cast by the building, making it much easier for him to move along after that once he had skirted and eluded the guards on the outside. Security was lighter, but could still run afoul if someone realizes that he wasn't on the guest list. It was fitting that he had dressed for breezy conditions and looked like a bodyguard of some sort. He was tall too and that stature was enough to make it seem like he was just there to act as an escort.
The ideal time would've been after the party to speak with Embry Delacroix, but luckily he spotted her up close to a wall and smoking a cigarette. There might not be a more opportune moment for him to approach her, so he decided that best chance was now once the valet left. "Excuse me Ms. Delacroix." he spoke forwardly, standing plainly while keeping his distance, "I know you're busy with tonight's proceedings, but may I ask if we might speak later? I have a bit of a proposition for you that might be to your benefit." he tried his best to sound smooth and eloquent. "I'll be waiting outside the museum and we can discuss a theater to talk in peace. It would be best for you not to bring your attendants to keep what I have to say between us, but bring a weapon if it will ease your mind"
It wasn't Aiden's normal method or tone of speaking, but he tried to play it up as much as he could before backing away and waited for her response.

She took a long drag on her cigarette, noting how slow the valet was moving and making a mental note to call that company and have them ripped a new one. She was just ready to get out of here and, blowing out a puff of smoke, noticed a hooded person step up and address her. She crossed her arms as she listened and took another drag. How interesting... Embry tapped out her cigarette, thinking on this proposition. She was slightly desperate, and what could be the harm from listening to this one person. "Do not waste my time. Meet me at this location, no one will bother us there." Embry spoke quietly, not drawing attention to them as she pulled out a business card.
It was not her usually business card, it had an address and nothing else. It was on black cardstock with silver letters for the address. It was not her house, or her place of business. It was rather an old warehouse on the other side of town. The inside was all storage, nothing special, but upstairs, the office had been converted into a more stable office for Embry where she did all of her dealings with her less...reputable clients. She stopped next to the hooded man. "Meet me there in one hour, don't be late." Embry continued walking, taking her keys from the valet and lowering herself into her car.
Just when she had thought that her contacts had been dwindling, a stranger walks out of the darkness. It was strange, Embry had to admit. But she needed a new source. It was also strange that she agreed to the meet up, but desperate times. She would take all of her normal routes to keep her safe. As much as she could anyways. Being a public figure she needed the secrecy of this warehouse, but she couldn't exactly blindfold people to take them there, especially when most of her clients were smart enough to know where they were in the city blindfolded and in a trunk. Embry pulled into her house to change out of her more fancy suit into something more comfortable for working and less conspicuous for her meet up. She chose simple black slacks, her black boots and a white button up shirt. She looked slightly more feminine but it didn't bother her. She took her long hair and pulled it back into a pony tail, leaving the long 'bangs' in front. Adjusting her glasses, she walked to her garage, choosing her nondescript black sedan. Within minutes she was on the road. She had a couple of people standing by at the warehouse, better safe than sorry, but she wouldn't break the agreement of secrecy if that is what this man wanted. She first stopped a couple of normal places, before pulling into a parking garage at her business office. From there, she changed vehicles to a Merlot red mustang. It was not her usual car and all the windows were tinted as black as was legally allowed. She kept her head down as she left and after being sure she wasn't followed, she went to the warehouse. Ah, the life of a public figure.
The warehouse was a simple cement building, with large garage like doors for easy admittance of larger vehicles. Parking on the inside, Embry got out. One of her assistants met her, taking her cell phone. Embry preferred no electronics during these meetings. If this guy was on time like she hoped, he would be stepping inside in about two minutes. Embry made her way up to her office on the second floor. She left her assistant downstairs to take the mans electronics if he had any and to sweep him for anything malicious, bugs or wires, ect. Anything that could assist in their conversation not being so "secret". Embry sat at her desk, tapping her fingers as she thought about it. Usually she would have a lot more information before scheduling a meet, but she needed some fresh sources, and this man apparently knew that. Her office was simple. Beige brown walls, her large desk in the middle. A few vague paintings on the walls and a couple of corner lamps to warm the lighting in the room. Embry hated florescent bulbs. Across from her desk was one chair, more comfortable than usual chairs that occupied an office but nothing fancy. And there were no windows in the office, not even overlooking the warehouse, for security reasons.
She looked at her clock. He should be walking in now. Embry pulled out a book from one of the bookshelves that sat on the wall from the office. Since this went against all the normal she did, Embry was hoping she wasn't wasting her time right now. This was a huge risk, after all.

Post"Wicked" Aiden Garnette It was unexpected behavior on her part, but it did seem fitting that she decide this term of their negotiation. He had pictured politicians as cautious and shifty, but Embry seemed more keen on actually taking him seriously. A refreshing sentiment coming from her, considering he was also set on getting right down to business. He took her business card and pocketed it, noting the address clearly. Knowing Felici as well as he did, it would not be hard to track down the location.
As it just so happened, Aiden too had no intention of wasting valuable time while the clock was ticking. They both seemed to be walking on eggshells just judging by current events alone, but therein was the opportunity where they could be assets to each other. Judging by how quick she was to grant him a meeting, eschewing formality aside, just showed to him that her back was also against the wall. As he shifted away, he also couldn't help but take a good gander at her assets too with a lecherous eye hidden beneath his face mask. "I'll be right there sweetheart" he whispered in a slightly sultry, suggestive whispering voice before slinking away.
Aiden had to sneak carefully out of the mansion, using most of his stamina and patience in the maneuver. Getting into the party had been taxing, but the whole round trip itself was a huge gambit. If he could secure safety in the underbelly of Felici's political circle though, the risk would ultimately pay off. Not only would he gain a powerful ally, but also a steady toy to play with. Jumping from the stone monuments and leaping off the walls, the snow-haired man silently landed upon a tree branch and was on his way again out of the perimeter with none of the guards having caught sight of the rogue hunter.
He had no place to retreat during the next hour. The shopping district wasn't far away, but he felt completely paranoid of everyone he interacted with. He avoided talking to people and simply posed as a homeless person with his silver-lined hair confined beneath his cloak and facemask until 40 minutes had passed and the rendezvous time approached. Though Aiden knew quite well how this could go down, he managed a gulp in his throat. He was confident in himself here, but politics was a game he hated playing. It was dirty and cumbersome, but in this city it was necessary for his survival and so he would swallow it .... for now.
The cement-based warehouse was thankfully in a discreet portion of Felici and he incurred no trouble in walking up to the door near the side. He had his hands in the air though as the man indicated he do. Once inside, he assumed he would be searched and gracefully left his belongings with the attendant on the inside who seemed the nicest. His saxe knife and sheathe were the only things he had brought with him and no electronics. Once the suits were satisfied, it wasn't hard to pinpoint the way up and he hardly needed the directions that were given. He could figure it out on his own if he pleased; the stairs were marked clearly.
Marching up and turning a right at the top, he knocked once before turning the handle and walking inside a moment later. Just as promised, the woman was seated in a plain office space behind a wooden desk and a few miscellaneous paintings decorating the quaint little room. With his face hood now pulled down, Aiden was wearing a plain gray vest and camo pants. His prosthetic arm was also under heavy bandage wraps, keeping it from being seen as he sat down himself in a chair in front of the desk.
"I thank you for giving me an audience so candidly Ms. Delacroix. Since we're not wasting any time here, I will get straight to the point. You never asked for my name however, but I think you'll recognize it if you've been paying attention to events of the past eight years. I'm Aiden Garnette, the infamous fugitive hiding from the justice of the Hunter's Guild." he offered with a candid, lecherous smirk.

As soon as her door opened, Embry placed her book down on the desk, studying the man as he walked in. The first thing she noticed was his hair, the second thing was how openly he spoke. He was being respectful of her, to a degree. She had not forgotten the comment at the museum, but brushed it off the best she could. It was the way of the underground. His face had looked familiar to her when she saw it, but now it made sense. The disgraced hunter, who had become the hunted. Now this was a golden opportunity and Embry was glad to have opened this meeting up. Sometimes these things just fell into your lap. He was taller and he had bandages wrapped around his arm. Embry regarded him with cool eyes as she thought about why a disgraced hunter would need a meeting with her, even if it was beneficial to her.
"Mr. Garnette. What a pleasure it is." She kept her voice cool but it was a pleasure for her. Embry had interests to protect. She could only protect those interests if she had the right information. And this man, being formally of the hunters guild, was the perfect information she could use. But she couldn't seem so eager. Leaning back in her chair, her long hair fell over one shoulder as she regarded the man who smiled without censure before her.
"Let us indeed get down to business. What can I do for you that you had to intercept me during such a high publicized event? I would have thought you wouldn't be caught at those types of things, regarding your status as a fugitive and everything." Embry pulled out her small silver tin, setting it on the table and opening it. She pulled out her cigarette, lighting it with a match she produced from her desk. Sometimes it was nice just to have something simple. Inhaling deeply, she blew out some smoke. Even with no windows, her office had the best ventilation because she smoked and because she hated feeling stuffy, and paid the price for the best she could get in ventilation, as a result her office was cool and never stuffy.
Embry though that if Aiden Garnettes proposal was good enough, it would be like having cards up her sleeve. But the real question is..how could she trust the information he would give her?
She let this thought roll around in her head. If the price was good enough, he might be willing to disclose all he knew. If it was good enough. But what was good enough for the perplexing man who had sought out her for a deal. And what was he doing back in Felici? He had to be desperate to be back in the capital city. This was all information she was going to have to gather before deciding on this proposal, whatever it is. Embry held her cigarette between her fingers, her index resting on her lip as she let some of these more obvious questions roll around her mind. This first meeting would not be their last for sure.

Post"Wicked" Aiden Garnette Aiden relaxed into his seat, stretching his legs out so only his feet touched the ground. If there had been a taller seat in the room, he might have felt more comfortable in this little room. Now that he could also get a better look at Embry too, he licked the left side of his lip with a bit of fatal intent and ravish. She was tall and sexy and her choice of clothes accentuated her bodily figure nicely. They were in a formal meeting though and Aiden had to staunch his lewdness and remain serious in tone and poise while he was speaking.
"I'd like us to get straight to the point; I'm not here to play negotiating with you and I dislike that. I've heard quite a bit about your most recently publicized dilemmas with the friends you've chosen and you probably have an inkling of the reason why a criminal would want to seek you out for a private meeting. We're both in a bind, but - we can both help each other out." he spoke in a slightly heavy tone, eyes pinned to looking past Embry's glasses. Her eyes were friendly, but un-trusting and void. Aiden kept the smirk directly hinged across his sliver of a mouth.
"My proposition is thus: I have information on the Hunter's guild and I can act as an agent outside of the law. I'm quite certain both of those attributes appeal. I will give you both, my experience and my information on a periodic basis. In exchange for those however, I want comfort and protection while in Felici." he said, holding up two fingers pointedly.

Was this all he really wanted? Comfort and protection in exchange he would give her information? Embry took another long drag on her cigarette, leaning forward and stamping out the butt in the ashtray on her desk. She thought about this proposition. Where could it go wrong? He could go to the press, but that would be idiotic seeing as he was a fugitive. He could just kill her, but that wasn't beneficial to him either. It seemed the cards were in the favor of Embry, but she still wanted to go into this cautiously.
She clasped her hands on her desk. "Mr. Garnette. You are saying in exchange for as up to date information on the hunters guild as you can get and to be my agent outside the law for some of my dealings, all you want is protection and comfort?" Embry stood up, moving around her desk and leaning on it. She ignored the look that Aiden Garnette was giving her, and his smirk was beyond annoying. But this was a good proposition, one she couldn't pass up. It was so simple. And if anything went wrong, it was easy for her to end up on top.
"I have no problem providing you with either of those things." Embry crossed her legs, sitting full on her desk. "I just need to know what comfort exactly means to you. A place to live? Money? And what kind of protection are you talking about? Body guards? Secrecy?" These were all things she needed to know to be able to hold up her end, and this would help her get a better grasp on what exactly Aiden wanted, and how much it was going to cost her. If it was too much, she would just not accept it. We shall see..Embry placed her hands on either side of her, her thoughts articulating around the deal they were making. Embry hoped the cards would be in her favor as she pushed her hair behind her shoulder so it hung down her back.

Post"Wicked" Aiden Garnette If the last several years had taught Aiden anything, it was that being discreet and invisible was his most vital asset. Being able to blend in with the regular people and keep a low profile on his forays into danger reduced the chances of discovery. Being the center of attention and living in luxury simply did not appeal to him so it was pretty clear where his priorities in this negotiation laid. Being able to access Felici and snoop around would be invaluable to his goal of bringing down the Hunter's Guild. He knew plenty of their dirty little secrets and had spent much time gathering info even before the massacre, but he couldn't pretend to know everything. In the past few years, information gathering had been harder and keeping himself up-to-date was nearly impossible. With Embry's aid though, he knew exactly where he could completely refresh himself.
He wondered about musingly as Embry spoke, whimsically and distractedly passing his eye over her attractive features and modest bust size from across the desk before coming back to reality with a smirk that clearly showed what he was thinking. More or less, the blatant action was obviously ignored or rejected which made it all the more tempting for him to continue doing it. He wanted to poke and prod her some more and see what her reactions looked like, a thought that was growing in intensity and appeal the more he had to watch her poker face in action. This deal was meant to be simple for him too and keep himself at arms length from the dirty game of politics. The less he had to deal with it, the better. Inevitably, he have to involve himself in order to keep her good graces and would need some accommodations from her to make this worthwhile, but those were easy to sell to her and he could swallow fighting her battles if it advanced his agenda.
"I have no interest in a lot of money or anything expensive if that is what you're thinking Ms. Delacroix. The biggest things I want from you are a cover identity and a small, discreet place; a way to disguise myself and keep low while in the city without drawing attention. The bare minimum in this case would be best in somewhere out-of-the-way and hard to find." he spoke coolly, unceasing and calmly keeping his gaze locked on Embry's glasses-phased eyes. His hands were locked on the armrest and periodically he would wriggle his legs a little to shake off the cobwebs out from sitting still. Politicians he knew were leery of the strains on and appearance of their pocketbooks, surmising that this woman would be no different. It was to his advantage that he felt no greed and took a judicious view on finances.
"If you have weapons, I would like to take a look. My main Hunter Weapon was lost to me long ago and since then I've only been using knives. Money for food and small expenses of course shouldn't be a huge burden on your wallet and I should be able to protect myself well enough with that alone. As for comfort..." Try as he might, Aiden couldn't gauge even if anything he was saying was truly appealing to the woman in front of him. She didn't seem to blink and her body never betrayed her thoughts for any given moment. She was almost inscrutable, which made it simply too hard to resist for any longer the need and chance tease her. This time, his snide grin was a bit more cruel and rough.
"What it means is something you and me could discuss further. Pray tell, what would you be willing to do to comfort someone like me Ms. Delacroix? I may not take a lot of your money, but I can be pretty insatiable... what if I requested of you, for instance, to kiss me than slowly turn around and drop everything you're wearing in the bedroom right now? We can start exchanging information immediately once we've cemented and sealed our acquaintance. Tell me then, would we have a deal if that is what I asked?" he tempted coyly in gentle soft-spoken tones while quickly leaving the chair and closing the distance between them, reaching underneath her chin to cup it gingerly with his left hand.

Listening to Aiden, Embry felt almost relieved that he was more simple than some of the people she dealt with. He didn't want a lot. She listened quietly, keeping her gaze neutral. Everything he had requested thus far was easy for her, a new identity, a small out of the way place to live. It all worked. Then comfort came up. Embry had experienced many things in her journey through politics and this was one of them that wasn't anything new. It happened more often than Embry cared to admit.
She had been brushing off his looks and offhand comments tonight, but this was not an offhand comment and she looked up at him as he cupped her chin. Silly boy. The only reaction of annoyance was the slightest twitch of her eye. She couldn't tell if he was serious or teasing, he had just as good a poker face but someone in his position needed to. She reached up taking his hand and removing it from her face. "You couldn't handle what I have to offer, Mr. Garnette. And I don't mix business and pleasure. Maybe that is something you should adopt." She sounded amused as she stood up. He was still standing so close that her breasts pushed against his chest and she moved away from him. She didn't move quickly like a school girl who had been caught, but deliberately putting up a line.
Besides that, his offer was fairly reasonable. Aiden was handsome and he knew it. Embry wouldn't have minded having a new lover but he was business and mixing those was dangerous. She reached under her desk, pulling out a lock box. She needed this information, and as long as Aiden delivered she would hold up her end and not turn him into the hunters guild. She gained nothing by that but if he tried to cross her she would have to make sure they kept their association far away from each other. Unlocking the lock box she pulled out some papers then some cash. "Mr. Garnette, this should get you by tonight. I can have my assistant set a hotel room up if you would like. Tomorrow my assistant will be in contact with you about a place and the rest of what you would like. As for weapons, my head of security will help you there, I will inform him to get with you tonight, if you would like." Embry replaced the papers and locked the box again, placing it back in her drawer.
"Tomorrow you will have what you need and we can set up a meeting to discuss what you know." Embry grabbed a cigarette, lighting it and taking a long drag. She could have waited till he divulged everything to her, but she needed him to be taken care of so he would hopefully give her good information. She treated her, for lack of a better word, associates, as well as she could without letting their association be tracked by anything. She took another drag. "Is there anything else?"

Post"Wicked" Aiden Garnette It seemed like his teasing had gotten him the reaction he had most suspected. It was probably the most prudent and correct way for someone in her position to act around someone like him: professional without letting his taunts get under her skin although it would've been amusing and cute for him to see her squirm from the presumption of his offer being genuine. Even if she had accepted though, getting too close to this woman was dangerous and not in his direct interests. The twitch of her eye from the exchange was telling enough for him to concede, even if not fully satisfying.
"Perhaps, but if I did that then people like you would get to be oh so dull and boring to deal with. Plus, such voluptuous charm doesn't grace my eyes everyday; a little teasing shouldn't be too much to ask for. With your position, it seemed like you could use a chance to lighten up a bit. You can stand to do that around me; I'm not exactly like one of your diplomats." he offered with a grin intended to be blatantly snarky before plopping back down in the chair and noting the perfume of smog building up in the room from her cigarette for the second time since he had entered. Come to think of it, she took puffs pretty frequently, a factor that he decided to keep in mind the next time they decided to meet. It probably would suit him best to bring a gas mask.
Embry seemed to be wrapping up their business and he had tested her patience (and his luck) quite enough for the time being. There would be more time later for him to sate himself, but now was a time for them to conclude their meeting for the night. He had some other things to discuss, like possible computer access and other support but those could be hammered out later. Taking the papers and cash she proffered graciously and then reaching out in return to offer a firm, yet delicate, handshake with his real hand, "I have some other things I'd happily discuss later, but for now I think I will retire. I've taken much of your time for one night so I will bid you farewell and good night Ms. Delacrois. It was a pleasure meeting you and I look forward to seeing you again" he departed with a bow and honest smile before showing himself out the door and walking down the staircase to be escorted out into the night once he'd retrieved his belongings.
As he left, he took a look at the documents and money she had given him for one night. It was fully enough for him to stay in a commonplace motel for that evening.

Embry let a rare smile touch her face. This guy. "Dull, am I? We shall see." She shook his hand, feeling quite satisfied with what had been accomplished this night. Oh yes. So much accomplished. "A pleasure, Mr. Garnette." Embry watched his retreating back, putting out her cigarette. She sat back down, taking off her glasses. He was going to be a tricky one for sure. No doubt popping in and out when she least expected it. She rolled her shoulders. Well, nothing she couldn't handle.
Grabbing her bag, she made her way down the stairs. Turning her cell phone on she immediately had a few messages and a frown touched her face. She would talk to Lyla in the morning about this. She was supposed to answer her calls while she was in the meeting. Sighing, Embry pocketed her phone and grabbed her keys, peeling out of the parking garage and speeding into the night. It felt good to let loose. Maybe Aiden had a point. She hmphed. "Yeah right!"
Within a half hour, she had switched back to her black sedan and was back in her house. Immediately she hopped into a hot shower, letting her muscles relax. Meetings like that, no matter how humorous or serious the person was, they always made her tense. Leaning her head down in the water she went over every detail of what had to be done with Aiden, making sure to leave nothing out. As her muscles loosened, she had a plan for the future of the hunters guild forming in her mind, and it wasn't exactly pretty. A smirk filled with amusement formed and she stepped out of the shower. Not pretty at all.
