A Forced Proposal of the Most Scandalous Nature [emiko]

Emiko paused over the same line as she always did. Walden was indeed a masterpiece of literature and rightfully so. She could see how the novel had touched the lives of generations. Easily. There was wisdom and insight upon every page, so eloquently communicated in a simple manner that it was near impossible to not understand the intentions. But there was always one point or another the professor found herself unable to finish the pages.

Whether it was this line or another, the woman found herself unable to move past it. Her life was one of hidden secretive slavery. A tattoo's ink driving her to commit acts she did not wish to and refrain from acts she so very much wished to accomplish. This book assumed that the reader was a free man and for Emiko that was simply not the case. The idea of dying believing that she had not truly lived was a concept she had already come to peace with. It would come to pass. This life was not hers but the next would be. Surely. She just had to finish living through this one first upon the tight leash of her Headmaster.

It would be this line that Emiko had been staring at for a good solid two minutes when she was vaguely aware of the chair opposite her was being pulled away. She didn't mind if someone else could make use of it. Lords knew she wasn't. It would take a moment however for her to realize the chair hadn't been taken away but had simply been utilized.

Glancing over the top of the book's cover Emiko felt the color drain from her cheeks. "... Senator." Em would reply, slowly allowing the book to close, not bothering to save her place with so much as a finger or napkin. It was funny how such a busy cafe environment could be mentally shelved away as one person demanded the mental spotlight. Scarlet eyes would maintain eye contact with the other until she finally inhaled through her nose. "I trust you've been well?"

[attr="class","libody"]"I'm sorry to hear that." Would be her own quiet reply, mirroring the volume of the other woman. The smirk that Ms Delacroix was wearing was offsetting. Emiko was nervous about this unexpected reunion as it was. That was not a kind hearted, well meaning smile. It was a smirk. Smirks formed when people had aces in their hand. And after that last morning together, in theory, she had all four suits.

There was that wish to be informal again. Seemed Emiko's attempt to formalize their relationship and return it to its non-sexual beginnings had not sprouted roots. "Ditto." Em would say almost humorously. The woman was one of impressive vocabulary and etiquette. The word 'ditto' leaving her mouth was overall uncharacteristic of her.

"The cafe is selling paczki due to the holiday." Emiko would begin, doing her best to brighten whatever that smirk had planned for this conversation. "I recommend you try one, ... Embry." The name leaving her lips felt strange now. But at the end of the day, when you know someone has a metaphoric loaded gun, it wasn't wise to piss them off. "Terribly unhealthy but a nice cheat to have once a year. They do a good job."

And with that Em was done. That was her attempt at improving her situation. Emiko would craft a small polite smile. It wouldn't entirely distract from her paled nerves but at least it was something.

[attr="class","libody"]The senator's voice seemed as if to pull on a velvet shawl. A smooth lush tone that Emiko was all too familiar with. She recognized it immediately. So much so that it urged her to cross her legs a touch tighter, her muscles tensing underneath the lightly tinted nylons. Business, hm? Emiko had a lingering feeling that the business Embry had in mind was not the sort that could be found within the pages of a file or bill. That facial expression and velvety tone made it rather clear what she was referring to.

"I ..." Emiko had already been frazzled with the sudden appearance of her old friend in the sheets. The transition to talk of a date had left her more frazzled that Embry most likely would have ever witnessed her. Other than their last morning together. "... regret to hear that." She would finally decide upon, treading the tempest threatening waters cautiously. "I thought I had covered everything in our last exchange of emails."

Playing dumb. Emiko didn't succeed in this act very well. It wasn't just the fact her nerves had already given way to showcasing she knew the true topic wasn't just paperwork or a missing signature. But even her demeanor, the way Em carried herself and presented herself physically, it was difficult to imagine the glasses wearing nerd to be 'dumb'. "Perhaps if you tell me what I didn't cover I could send you another email detailing those points. And of course I would do my best to not make the same mistake in the future." Em would attempt a weak smile, hoping inwardly the woman would drop the idea of a date.

[attr="class","libody"]Much to Em's dismay Embry didn't seem to be accepting her previous attempt of playing dumb. Not that it wasn't expected but it still deflated Emiko further upon realization. She wasn't letting this go. Yet again, not exactly unexpected. The woman had a fierce personality that had allowed her to climb the political ladder to the place she was currently. Not that the political game was necessarily kinder in other foreign countries, especially her motherland of Ikigai. But Ethean politics was exceptionally brutal. Take one glance at the brewing of potential civil war and it was obvious.

It was a woman who was used to getting what she wanted whom was looking upon her with a distinct disapproval. Those chilling blue eyes were not as powerful as her headmaster's but nevertheless Emiko felt a similar sensation growing in her chest. Anxiety and fear. True, the senator was not her Headmaster. But she had witnessed something she was not supposed to and that made her horrifying. One whisper directed towards her Headmaster and Emiko was doomed to heavy discipline of a caliber she had not yet experienced. And what she had already experienced was nothing to sniffle at.

The professor felt herself unconsciously shiver as the chair scraped loudly across the floor. A somehow further paling face would meet Embry as she leaned so close Em could feel the woman's breath upon her skin. Emiko would nervously blink at the kissing of her hand. She had just been given an order. It was no longer a request. Before the professor could think upon her situation she felt herself be pulled up from her chair. A half unfinished cup of coffee would be left behind in the wake. Truly the most tragic of casualties in the scenario.

Could Emiko have forced her way out of the senator's grasp? Oh definitely. Emiko had fought hand to hand with military trained men before, twice her weight, and had held her own. There were innumerable offensive measures that could have been taken. So many possible items that could be utilized as a weapon that would be passed up. But she swallowed the growing lump in her throat and would merely downcast her gaze as she chose to follow obediently. If anyone were to look questionably in their direction Emiko would do her best to send a fake smile their way. It was not a good idea to cause a scene.

It wouldn't be long before Emi was sitting upon a leather seat in a black SUV. The door would close behind her, a sound that caused her to jump slightly in her current mindset. Scarlet eyes would dart towards the feminine voice as Embry began. "I ..." Emiko would stammer for the first time Embry had witnessed of her. Eyes would snap to the hand upon her knee before glancing back up. "You ..." Emiko's eyes would showcase fear for but a fraction of time before they would narrow in epiphany. "... You want sex." Emiko would say slowly. "You want sex? You're not ... You don't want anything else?"

[attr="class","libody"]Until Emiko was given a verbal answer to her inquiry she would remain easily moldable clay. If Embry wished to kiss her neck, the action would be allowed. If Embry pulled Emiko onto her lap, the action would receive zero resistance. The scneario was still a scary one. This woman, knowingly or not, held a very powerful metaphorical switch in her hand that could lead Em to having a hellish disciplinary session with her Headmaster. Scarlet eyes would remain glued to the contradictory ice blue pair that knew they were in the position of power.

The question posed was an interesting one. "I ... I don't know." An answer that wasn't entirely truthful. What she had been hoping for with Emi's distancing was that the politician would let her go. Move on. That their relationship would return to one being strictly professional. But it seemed Senator Delacroix was a touch more possessive than she'd realized. Or in the very least not one to just give up a claim.

Emiko allowed her form to adjust into the position the politician wished her to be in. The back of her head rest against the black leather seat as her eyes continued to peer past her nose up to the woman who held a metaphorical leash in hand. "I apologize." Em would reply back. An "I'm sorry" seemed appropriate given Ms Delacroix obviously felt she had been wronged. It was best to not further anger someone who had a possible bomb to trigger.

Underneath her Emiko could feel tires beginning to move. Her body swayed lightly at the propolsion of the SUV driving away from the cafe and towards its destination. A dinner date with sex afterwards was apparently what Ms Delacroix was wanting. That was ... a heavy relief. Who knew if Embry understood what she had witnessed? If she was really aware of the threat, the new power that she now held in their interactions. But the supposed promise her situation only held future free meals, wines and sexual intercourse with a woman she had all around enjoyed such activities with in the past? This was ideal.

A realization that would assist in melting away any traces of the tension, fear and worry that had possibly tainted her features. At the time Embry didn't seem to be wanting anything more than what they had shared in the past. A result that was far more palatable than any of the alternatives Emiko's anxieties had birthed over the past few weeks. "I was planning on grading papers this evenin ..." Emi would allow her lips to curl into a sideways smirk. "But I suppose it can be postponed. I'm free until seven tomorrow morning. I'm curious to see what my playing hard-to-get has resulted in." Playing hard-to-get. Yeah, that's what we were going to go with.
