[googlefont=Just Another Hand][googlefont=Bree Serif] [attr="class","maph1"]New Country. New Language. [attr="class","maput"]learning to translate these emotions [attr="class","mapnote"] [attr="class","maptext"]NOTES:sup stranger, who is apparently my dad? | [attr="class","mapscroll"] Maia was somewhere unknown and she didn't understand where she was. She had been awoken from her nap just a few minutes earlier, and was quite groggy. She definitely had a case of jetlag. The Ethean government had insisted that she take a boat with her handler, instead of actually flying. They apparently wanted to save money or something, either way it meant that she had to travel by ship to get to her new "home". Notice the mental quotation marks, they really did indicate her... sarcasm at this.
Needless to say the girl was a little ball of snarky, who was currently sleepy, and because she was sleepy was groggy and not really paying attention to where they were going or what her handler was saying. Blah blah blah, something about protection, and government? To be honest Maia couldn't understand half of what the lady was saying anyway.
It was part of the problem wasn't it? That she couldn't really understand what the woman was saying. For crying out loud, the woman had tried to take Maia's bow. Multiple times in fact. Luckily it had made it thus far and Maia wasn't going to let it go so easily. Hence why it was strapped to her back.
The somber sleepy teen raised one hand to eye, rubbing it. Goodness, it was much too early for this. "Here..." The word caught her ears, and Maia had a sinking suspicion that they had arrived to wherever they were going. Oh no, it seemed to be a door of some sorts. A door that led to a house and the woman had on an incessant smile that just seemed to annoy the teenager more.
This was it wasn't it? She saw the nameplate by the door. Wynter The word caught her attention and her sleepy eyes met the ground as the woman hit the doorbell. Time to meet her jailer then.
She wondered for a moment what he was like, was he like her mom? Her grandfather? Gods forbid he was like her arrogant step brother. She didn't think she could handle another Tatsu. Clutching her bow around her chest, Maia bit her lip as the door in front of her opened to reveal the person she would be living with.
Best to keep quiet after all.
That was until a yawn happened to overtake her as soon as the man opened the door. This man would be greeted with the image of a smallish, thin, teenager holding up her sweatered hand to guide her yawn. If Oliver were to look closely, he would notice the sweater hid a muscled arm and her hand had calluses on it. She would also appear to be yawning quite diligently. Her eyes would look up to the man's and her head would tilt in contemplation before going into a deep, formal Ikigain bow.
She hoped she could go back to sleep soon. |

[attr="class","oone"] [attr="class","tbbody"]To say he was the happiest man alive would be quite the lie. In fact Oliver wasn't entirely sure if there was a word in the Ethean language that would correctly surmise what he was experiencing. Annoyed? Aggravated? Pissed? He was about to have some unknown child enter into his home. A home that was not meant for anyone but himself and the occasional sexual partner. Still, it seemed as if he had very little choice in this matter and merely stood near his front door. His gaze narrowed at it with each passing moment that it was quite possible he was about to burn a hole straight through the wood. A quick glance to the clock on the wall would spare the door only for a few moments. The woman was late, a wrong that didn't usually bother him to quite this extent. But this particular appointment also had a leashed daughter being dragged along as well that was apparently his own. Huffing out a breath from his nostrils like a silently raging bull he became even more perturbed at the sound of a knock. He remained still. He knew, at least to an extent, what awaited him on the other side. And it wasn't hard to see Oliver wasn't thrilled about it. Would the entering of this new life into his life mean that this was the end of an era? The end of the time where he could carry in his unconscious victims and enjoy his darker hobby in the downstairs sound-proof room? ..... Shoving himself from his chair he proceeded towards the door only to pause once again, hand hovering above the doorknob ..... The man who opened the front door would do so with a charming smile to the woman that brought the little shit to his doorstep. The smile was perhaps the warmest he could ever muster that could mask his great distaste of the whole situation. A greeting would follow, shortly superseded with a welcoming to allow both of them to enter his well cleaned abode. Not a single bit of dust touched any surface or furniture piece. All dishes where stored away properly and even the home smelled so clean one would wonder if this was some kind of strange virtual reality. To one who knew him well they would not be surprised by this. A person with his past times needed to be clean lest they get caught. "I hope you both had a pleasant travel into the city." It was just too bad the boat didn’t sink to save him the trouble of housing this daughter that was yawning without much a care in the world. His razor gaze that was well hidden behind his mask took the child in inch by inch. He took note of her frame, posture, her complete structure and even the way she walked. He looked for each tiny detail that would tell him what he might of inherited. OOC Thanks for the patience. Life, man. Life. Maia Nomi

[attr="class","de1"]
Maia most certainly didn’t want to be here, but she had no other legal family in Ikigai. To make matters worse there was no one who the teenager could rely on. She had learned early on that it was better to rely on yourself than others. And so the teenager was now in a foreign country that didn’t seem to give a shit about anything that had to do with immigrants. The girl wasn’t looking forward to having to relearn Ikigaian. She was not studious, not in the least so it was bound to be a bother.
This entire thing was a bother, and she was sure that it would not go well, either way her mind could think of. There were two distinct possibilities that came up in her mind. The first was that her father would actually, well, want her. That wouldn’t go well because it was only inevitable that she would be a disappointment. She didn’t give two fucks about this person who was supposedly her father. That was something that was sure to disappoint the man if he actually wanted to be a father. The second situation, which was highly more likely was that he wanted nothing to do with her. It really was quite odd. The Ikigaian teenager would much rather prefer this method of parenting than the former. This method didn’t require any effort on her part. It would be mutual disappointment that they would each hold. Maybe even contempt. That would work too.
Each would be highly disruptive in the other’s life. Somehow Maia doubted that cohabitation would come easily to the two of them. God, what if he slept with socks on? She would not be happy cleaning those socks.
That’s what she would end up being anyway. Nothing more than a maid. At least that was what she predicted it would be like.
From the small file she had been given it seemed the man lived alone. Her grandfather and elder brother had taught her that men could not be clean, not up to her standards at least. He probably didn’t even clean out the sink when he shaved. Gross.
As soon as the thought crossed her mind, she noticed that the man who opened the door seemed to be leading them into the home. It really was quite odd. Everything was clean. Cleaner than she had expected. Well, at least she wouldn’t be a maid. The Ikigaian teenager would keep stealing glances at the man as they walked into the apartment. He seemed to be tall, taller than her and her grandfather and her elder brother. That was good… right? She didn’t really know. He seemed to be well toned, at least from what she could see. The girl could see that this stranger took care of himself. How odd.
She didn’t see any of herself in him. Wow. She guessed that she had taken after her mother after all. The sleepy teen stifled another yawn as the man addressed her and the worker that had been assigned to her. Her eyes would widen at his voice, fixating on the face that met hers. That smile. It was plastered on his face, like a porcelain doll’s. Maia’s eyes flickered to the woman who was with her. She seemed… captivated? Naturally distrustful, Maia scowled in response and let out a cry when her arm was jerked forward. Apparently she hadn’t heard the motion to go forward. “No!” The teen really didn't like that the woman was grabbing her at all. Through clenched teeth she looked at the woman. "Let go."
By now the woman was used to this sort of attitude. At first Maia wasn't so bad, but the further they gto from ikigai, the more she disliked this woman. This governmental woman was always dragging her along, and was always poking her, or trying to get her to go places she really didn't want to go. Quite demanding. She also didn't seem to care about the langauge barrier. Hence Maia's distrust and general brattiness in this situation.
Flickering her eyes back towards the smiling man Maia would tilt her head and mimic his smile, giving the most angelic feminine smile she could manage.Maybe this would make the social worker be quiet for just this once. The woman looked astonished, and Maia really couldn't blame her. Maia wasn't the smiling type, and for most of the trip she had been scowling, or frowning, or grimacing. This smile wasn’t natural for the Ikigaian girl, and it was the first time she had smiled as such. Wrenching her arm away from the woman she would continue her smile as the words flowed from her lips, “Get away.” The teenager would slowly back up a little and glare at the woman, keeping her mimicking smile on. She didn't trust this lady one bit.
Maia turned to the strange man, still echoing his smile, "Where sleep?" The words would come out as she yawned again, slumping a little from the jet lag. She just wanted to sleep right now. Pleasantries could be done later. Glancing back towards the social worker Maia would let that angelic smile fall into a demonic glare, "Leave. Yes?"
She didn't understand why the woman was still here. It really was odd to her. She had been delivered. That was the job. Shouldn't the woman leave now that her job was done? It didn't make sense to the teen.Maia would watch silently as a folder was handed to the man who was supposedly her father. She didn't know it, but inside was the confirmation of her genealogy, and a basic dossier of who Maia was. Personality, school incidents, mentions of family history. The Ikigiain government had sent it along to Ethea, to give the new parent a history of who exactly they were living with. "Here is her file. I will be checking in every two weeks for the first few months." The social worker would smile at Oliver, "Be careful, she's a handful."
Maia didn't know that her entire life was summed up in a few slips of paper, and she wasn't really understanding what the conversation the adults were having was. She would lean against a wall, and watch silently, waiting to be led to wherever she could sleep.

[attr="class","oone"] [attr="class","tbbody"]Where. Sleep. Oliver would blink as his brain groaned. The girl. Didn't even seem fluent in his language. "You can sleep on the couch." Oliver would reply, the mask still remaining just as he he'd managed through worse in his life. Though to be fair he was currently hard pressed to think of a worse scenario at the moment. His life. His sanctuary. His quiet time. His clean home. It was all under a code red threat as far as Oliver was concerned. "Or your room is upstairs, second door on the right." Regardless of where the teenager decided to go those mismatched eyes would remain fixated on her. Although his facial expression was a polite smiling one there was dread building in his chest. What did this newcomer mean for his life? He had a feeling he knew the answer already and it wasn't pleasant. A witnessing of how the teen communicated would be further seen, leaving Oliver inwardly hating his life at the moment. "Thank you." Oliver would respond to the social worker. A normal person was wishing him good luck. This girl had to be hell if someone normal was wishing him luck. The woman didn't even realize the extent to how much he needed luck with this circumstance. He was a sociopath who enjoyed messier hobbies that weren't necessarily considered legal. This introduction to a roommate would be far more resonating in his life than another's. The good luck was logically ill founded but the sentiment was appreciated in a surprising turn of events. The file would be handed to him, his eyes briefly scanning the most basic of information. Age. A stare down of the genetic testing that had proven positive. There it was staring back at him. Proof that his younger self was an idiot. Gods, he'd been just a teenager. How ironic. Because of his teenage self then, he had to deal with a teenager now. OOC He is not thrilled about this. Maia Nomi

[attr="class","de1"] Maia stared as she awaited an answer to her question.
She thought it was a legitimate question. She was still tired from the trip after all, and it wasn’t a small trip anyway. The teenager was jetlagged and it was a long journey she had been on. The girl really just wanted to sleep. That was important in itself. She didn’t care where she was sleeping at this point, as long as it wasn’t with these stupid government agents, because man did this lady snore. The girl had gotten little to no sleep for the entire trip, all because of this obnoxious Ethean. There. Couch. Maia would give a slight nod, to make sure that she understood correctly and made her way over to the fairly comfortable looking piece of furniture.
Glancing back at man she would point to the couch and tilt her head. “Sure sleep here okay?” She didn’t want to get whacked like her grandfather would. She also just wanted to make sure it was okay. She didn’t really care what the woman wanted, but she did have just a smidgen of respect for entering a stranger’s home. Yawning, if she got consent she would curl up on the couch, shrinking into her sweater, as would a turtle into its shell. Her bow never left her side, but she would try and get some sleep.
Hopefully it would come peacefully, but the Ikigaian teenager would doubt it. Rolling so she faced the woman and the man, her arms in her sweater, knees curled up to her chest, the girl would stare as the two conversed, probably about her. She was probably just a bother anyway. She figured she might as well ignore them. They didn’t care about her, why should she put on a false smile for people who hadn’t earned her respect. It was bad enough she was dragged from her home. Now she was sleeping on the couch of a stranger.
The social worker would smile and nod. “Here’s my number if I’m needed.” The woman had already looked through the house, it was in fit condition, as was expected of a government worker. The man was so clean, how could the house not be in fit condition. Smiling she nodded towards him as she started to leave. “You are welcome!” the woman would reply as she headed out the door.
Maia would note the woman headed out the door and raise her head only slightly in acknowledgment. She was still curled up on the couch by all means, but she did relax only slightly visibly. It was obvious if Mr. Wynters was paying attention that the woman had made her nervous, tense, and generally agitated. Her wide eyes would stare at the man as he read some sort of file. “What read?” Would be the broken Ethean that would come out of her mouth.

[attr="class","oone"] [attr="class","tbbody"]"Yes. It's okay." Oliver would reply simply as those mismatched eyes would watch the teenager curl up onto his couch. This child. This stranger. It was a duel headed monster this scenario was honestly. On the one hand, having some girl around would make his hobby a more difficult one to dabble in. On the other, it assisted with camoflage. If Oliver ever ended up on the wrong end of an investigation (being the one under investigation rather than the officer doing the investigating) a child was a lovely shield. It was added foilage to duck behind. Clearly he was simply a single father trying to give his most prized daughter the better life she deserved because of some bullshit emotions like love or whatever. The benefits could really out weight the cons if he was cautious. Which of course he always was. But still .... The social worker left with a quiet closing of the front door behind her. A leaving that Oliver couldn't help but notice he wasn't the only one relieved upon seeing. At least they had one thing in common other than genetics so far. In some strange way it was kind of nice. Of course any fraction of a fuzzy warm feeling fluttered away as his natural state of mind settled in. A simple flipping through a file would commence. "Your file." If the girl acted confused by the Ethean words used Oliver would consider another alternative until she seemed to understand. What he held had information about her in it. A good adoptive parent with the correct amount of what some metaphorically call a soul would choose to engage in conversation with their newly adopted daughter. Surely a file couldn't inform them on what was important. Conversation and getting to know one another would be the best route to take. But of course this wasn't Oliver. Paperwork, though annoying when he had to fill them out for work purposes, was also preferred over socializing. A file would display facts. Conversation with people tended to get murky and less trustworthy as time went on. Some concept of wanting to impress the other person under some guise of caring what others thought of them. Oliver at least had an excuse for caring what others thought of him. He didn't want them to catch onto who he really was. For other people Oliver deemed normal, such a concern seemed ridiculously stupid and wasteful of time. There was nothing to hide that would end one in prison for the rest of their life. What was the big deal? And so the adult man would continue to scan his eyes over the words as he spoke. "You said you were tired though. Do you want to sleep down here on the couch or upstairs in your bed?" OOC Gotta study for the test that is this child. Read read read. Maia Nomi

Maia would nod as she curled up on the couch barely listening to the adults in the room. Why should she bother when she could barely understand them anyway? Ikigaian was quite different than Ethean and she knew that the two didn’t mix when trying to be learned. Her language was much harsher than the flowy sounds of the Ethean language. She didn’t really get what they were talking about and she had acquired a couch. It was time to watch and stare, instead of trying to contribute.
Maia’s eyes would follow the social worker out and then go straight to the man who she would be living with. It was important to observe this random person who was going to be roommates with her. She was glad that the nasty woman was gone, but she wasn’t sure what would happen next. It had been a tiring journey getting here, but she was here now.
Slowly Maia would nod. Apparently, she had some sort of file about her and she wasn’t quite sure how to feel about that. It wasn’t something that she felt to be proud of, that much was certain. Taking a moment and biting her lip she looked up at the man. “What say?” She was just a tiny bit curious at the situation and wondered what could possibly be written in there. Either way, the man seemed much more interested in the file than her.
It really was quite odd. This man seemed… young? She didn’t know about him but he seemed a bit cautious. That was good. Cautious meant uneasiness, and if he was uneasy, that meant he was uncomfortable. She could work with uncomfortable.
Keeping herself curled into a ball she would sit, pull her feet up, with her knees under her chin as she stared at the man. “Where bed?” She knew that word at the very least, and she figured that if she was in a bed she would be left alone. The whole entire trip had been quite taxing on the teenager, and she was exhausted in all forms.

[attr="class","oone"] [attr="class","tbbody"]"Your doctor notes, allergies, ..." The insinuation of a continued list would linger in the air but he wouldn't go into them himself. He didn't even know what words she really understood. What was the point of wasting time explaining something if she probably wasn't going to understand in the first place? There wasn't anything about abortions, but there also wasn't anything on birth control. Last thing he was going to put up with was a teenage daughter with a baby so maybe he could fix that during their first doctor visit with the Guild. Precautions, precautions, precautions. That was what his mind was focusing on. In what ways could he head off potential headaches so they didn't come to fruition. Mentally the list grew. One task after another that could be taken to make his life run smoother. It would be worth the dime for a more effective 'peace of mind'. "Up here." Judging on Maia's appeared understanding, Oliver would follow up with a "Follow me." The man would close the file for now, carrying it comfortably in one hand. Step after step. If the girl didn't speak, he sure as hell wasn't going to. He didn't find silence awkward after all. No skin off his back. Upon reaching a door Oliver would point, "Your room. Your bed." There. Caveman simplified talk. Until he could find a way to bridge the language barriers, this was their situation. He could use the internet to print off a short translation of tomorrow's plans in a note that he could post to her door. That was no problem. Cover his going to work, his hours, where the food was, instruction for her to move her things in. That would wait for tomorrow's note. But for now it was best just to put the girl to bed. as long as you remember me, i don't care if everyone else forgets. [attr="class","quicklinks"]547 words She can kind of be polite... right? Maybe? | [attr="class","technoscroll"] ❝ Ah so the basics. She nodded at the strange man and stared. What else was there to say? Not much really. They had finally been left alone and the man seemed intent on ignoring her. She was in a new place, and this man was going to make a first impression on her, and she only hoped that whatever was in her file would be something that wasn't horrible. Though, she only had two years before she could move back to Ikigai. There wasn't anything here for her, and she didn't plan on sticking around. Instead, she would get a job, and go home. That was the plan anyway. Staring up at the man from the couch Maia would bite her lip before pulling her knees closer to herself. "Answer questions, if have." Oh gods, was she actually trying to communicate with her sperm donor? This was going to end badly, but she was in his house, a strangers hours, so she could try. At least a little. Why was she shaking again... maybe it was the nerves. Maia didn't know, but it was visible. She felt the tears well up in her eyes but bit her lip. She was not going to cry in front of this man. It could wait. taking a breath she looked at him again, trying to calm herself. "Do have questions?" When the man motioned and closed the file Maia would nod, before slowly taking her arms out of her sweater. It was something of her mother's and she was using it as protection currently. Slowly, as a cat would, she would stretch up, sliding her legs off the side of the couch, silently landing them on the wooden floors. Her arms would go back into the sleeves, and immediately her hands would reach for her bow, slinging it over the shoulder. It was the most precious thing that she owned and she wasn't going to let it be touched, or broken, or lost in this house. After having secured the bow Maia would slowly and silently step to follow the man, wincing as the floorboards creaked under her weight. In Ikigai she was taught to be as silent as possible. It would take years to learn the creaky spots and how to avoid them here. Looking up at the man Maia would nod once standing and follow him, "Follow. Yes." When they reached a door Maia would peek at it from behind the man. The words room, and bed, she understood. Nodding she would look at the man as she held her bow to her chest. "Thank you." The words were simple and whispered. She wouldn't admit she was scared and didn't want to step into the room, but she could at least be kind of polite. He had done as she asked, and that had meant more to her than he knew. Glancing back up to the man she would wait for him to open the door and go in. She didn't want to be so rude. "Bathroom?" was the next question the girl cautiously asked. Could you blame her? It had been a long trip and she had to go pee. Looking up at the man expectantly Maia would bite her lip nervously, "Please." She really had to go... |

[attr="class","ttop"]
welcome to the Nightmare in my head
say hello to something scary
the monster in your bed just give in and you won't be sorry
[attr="class","oone"] [attr="class","tbbody"]No. Simply put, no. He didn't want to ask questions of the girl. Not yet at least. Paperwork didn't have emotions, possible inaccurate non-facts or a language barrier. Oliver planned very much so to stick to those files until he found it to not have an answer to one of his many many inquiries. So Maia would have received a shake of the head in response to her offer. He'd definitely remember the offer if the need arose. It just simply had not arisen yet. The files held all of his questions so far. Understanding seemed to stick with his attempts to keep communications simple. A silver lining though a faint one. This girl needed to catch up on her Ethean. Google translate could only go so far. Speaking of. "Bathroom. Please." He didn't need a translator to understand that much. "There." Oliver would say with a point of a finger and few other words. The teen would most likely pass him by to hurry herself to the door he had pointed out up the hall. Mismatched eyes would return themselves back to the file before him as the lass excused herself to spend some needed alone time. Gods, he was a father. This Ikigain teenaged girl was his daughter. This sixteen year old. Sighing through his nose Oliver would pinch the bridge of his nose. He could do this. It was just two more years and he could legally push the girl out of his home. Two years. He could live with this for two years. Live with. The two words shot an epiphany through his skull. Yeah, it was important to consider what the girl required, what she needed to live with. Looking around the room at what Oliver had anticipated a soon-to-be student of the Hunter's Academy would need (notebooks, pencils, text books, etc), Oliver would flip open the first notebook of college ruled paper. Pen cap popped off, Oliver would then type into his smart phone. A quick internet browser would pull up a generic translator where Oliver would do his best to get the simplest phrase to get across what he wished to ask. Referencing the file to double check on what was considered Maia's strongest language, Oliver would write out what came up. The kanji felt strange to draw out. But upon completing in the mirroring of the odd symbols Oliver would rest it back upon the desk. Minus one small translating error, Maia would still be able to overlook it easily enough in order to understand what was meant. Write list of what you need. toiletries, etc. The latin phrase would be directly translated as "and so on". But it could be understood well enough. Upon Maia's return Oliver would motion to the notebook. "You are tired?" Oliver would ask, still holding remnants of a smile polite smile that had more than likely lingered since the social worker had left. "Sleep now. Tomorrow we will talk." Hopefully that would work. If it did, he would leave with a final moments of smiles and would leave the girl to be. His bedroom door would close behind him as he'd cross the room to turn on his nightstand's lamp. This night was going to last quite the bit longer for him. He was going to finish this final file by night's end for sure. OOC tell me about how you need tampons and a hairbrush so we make sure to get you your shit. Maia Nomi

as long as you remember me, i don't care if everyone else forgets. [attr="class","quicklinks"]730 words Maia out... thread end? I can't think of anything else... | [attr="class","technoscroll"] ❝ Oh. Okay. There shake of the head was pretty apparent, and well, it proved an unspoken point. Got it, this ma didn’t want to know anything about her, or about her life. Maia would avert her eyes, and bite her lip. She wasn’t going to cry in front of this man, not yet. Gods, she had forgotten what it was like to be so sad. Well, anger was better, the teenager thought as she steeled herself, straightening her stance and resting her hands on her side. “Ok.” The word would be whispered before she followed to her apparent room. Maia nodded as she was directed towards the bathroom, holding her head even she would go to the room where she was pointed. The girl would calmly close the door behind her and slink down. What was this? This was crazy, the man out there didn’t want her, and didn’t want to seem to try to get to know her. She didn’t want to live here, with a stranger, but she didn’t have any choice. She couldn’t run, this man was a government official, it was so stupid. She was sure that they would track her down if she tried to leave. Maia would take a deep breath before rummaging through her pockets. Damn it, there was nothing there that would work for what she wanted. The teenager was shaking as she walked towards the medicine cabinet. Opening the mirror door she would scan the items. Medicine, lip balm, regular things, but… there it was. Maia’s eyes would widen as she came across the razor. Might as well break in the new house. Picking it up delicately she would sit on the top of the toilet, and slide down her pants, bringing the razor to her thighs, and pulling the blade across her skin. Good. The teenager gave a sigh of relief as she did, this was something she could control. She would hold the razor in her hands, tight to her thigh as she took her time steadying herself. At least she could control this, she could deal with this. Two years. Two years was nothing. She could this. Once she felt the cut deep enough, she would take and put the razor in the sink, and finally going to the bathroom, as she had originally intended. It was nice to know that the man outside the door kept nice blades and they were readily assessable. Now she just had to keep it from him. If he didn’t want to ask questions now, he wouldn’t want to ask questions later. Two years and she could do this. Wincing slightly the teenager would finish her business in the bathroom, waiting until her knicks had been dealt with, and walk silently back to the room which she had been told she would be sleeping in. She would look over the room and nod. It seemed to be a simple guest room, but it would do. There was a bed, so that much was good. She would take a deep breath and nod at the man. “Tired, yes.” When he motioned to a simple desk with a notebook written on it, she would not and take the time to write out a list of things she might need. She hadn’t come with much, her mother’s clothes and grandfather’s chess set. Her bow, and formal archery outfit. That was about it, except for like, her toothbrush. She didn’t have much. Much of her stuff had been her stepbrother's by law, once her grandfather died. It wasn’t like the government wanted to pay to transport every little thing she owned. Maia wouldn’t look the man in his eyes and instead keep her gaze focused on the bed, “Okay… goodnight abeonim.” The native Ikigaian word felt odd in her mouth. She had only really called her grandfather that, but the formal use of the word father. She didn’t like it. Hence the scowl on her mouth, but the deep bow was given to the man. Maia would only exit the bow when she was sure the man had left. Which, once he did, Maia would run to her bag, open it up, find her stuffed panda and curl up in the bed. Maybe sleep was for the best? Either way, tomorrow was sure to be full of horribleness and such, she might as well sleep now. |
