[attr="class","biggie"] [attr="class","textie"] OPENING MOVE The wall of monitors large and small lit up Maevia’s bunker with harsh, white light. It was the light she knew. Fans blew on the many towers of her network, together sounding like a heavy wind. It was the sound she knew. Her bunker was home, familiar and safe, hidden and unreachable. On the screens, feeds of information poured in from contacts all over Ethea. Orbweaver was busy sorting through them all, while she stood and stared. Behind her was the bunkers small kitchen area, with a fresh pot of ramen noodles ready to be taken off the single-burner stovetop. The air smelled faintly of salty pasta and boiled water. He would come. She did not wear her hoodie; that sat in a heap on her cot, next to her blankets (which were also in a heap). In only a tank top and jeans, her cybernetic arm was on full display, running up to and encompassing her shoulder. Her stare was blank, but her mind raced. Yes, He would come. After the meeting with Daniel, her own encounter with Arithelia, and the events at the ball, it was only a matter of time before He invaded her space once more. After all, there was much to be discussed. She would be ready. There was no fear in her, or her body language. She did not shake when she poured the noodles into a bowl. She did not tremble when she sat down with it on her cot, picking away at the plain meal with her fork. She did not lose her appetite. In fact, for once, she ate without distraction, and finished a meal. She set the bowl on the counter next to the stove, and resumed standing before the wall of monitors which accounted for most of the space in her spider’s nest. He would be ready. He was nothing if not prepared at all times. Always informed. Always with the upper hand. Always with the smug confidence of a man with all the power, a man who not only had all the cards, but owned the casino as well. She knew his attitude, especially towards her. She was his chess piece; not a pawn, but not the queen. She crossed her arms and tapped her finger against the hard metal of her cybernetic bicep. Or so He thinks. This would be a dangerous gambit, but tonight, when the god inevitably entered her domain, she would make herself clear. Her place in the game was not as a piece, but as a player. Whether she played with or against Him would be entirely up to Him. And so she waited. And thought. And reviewed. And when she felt the chilly, familiar change in the air, that divine foreshadowing of an approaching god, she exhaled. “Kupiec.” ===== Tags: Kupiec Notes: Let's begin [attr="class","iconie"] [newclass=.biggie]-webkit-transitionduration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover]margin-left:-300px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie]opacity:0;margin-top:-425px;margin-bottom:150px;width:285px;height:400px;padding:10px;background-color:#000000;border:solid 1px #000000;color:#e4e0e0;text-align:justify;overflow:auto;margin-left:10px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;font:11px calibri;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .textie]opacity:1;margin-left:610px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie::-webkit-scrollbar]width:10px;background:#000000;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background:#9589a0;border:2px solid #e4e0e0;[/newclass] [newclass=.iconie]opacity:0;margin-top:-240px;margin-left:-220px;margin-bottom:50px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .iconie]opacity:1;[/newclass] [newclass=.tagsie]opacity:0;font:11px calibri;color:#b7b7b7;margin-top:-75px;margin-left:-75px;margin-bottom:40px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .tagsie]opacity:1;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass]

"Heh," The God chuckled once to Himself. The hearing of His name set a multi-hued explosion of color to cross over His eyes. "Yes. It's me, my ever observant little dove." A softly pleased smile would be expressed as He materialized behind the mortal. Standing with that usual prestine posture, the Deity would appear very comfortable in His own way. Gravity would have no effect upon the being as it never seemed to.
The God sniffed the air once before redirecting His attention to the kitchen. "Cooked yourself somethinggg modest I see." A soft sound would occur as the man took His first few steps, the ceiling He stood upon sounding lightly with every stride. "Dear, you have the money. Why don't you treat yourself to something that isn't so humble once in a while?" Kupiec would say as an old friend would lightly jab with a light hearted wrinkling of the nose. Indeed, the God was in appearance as His human form. A handsome ethnically looking Surajan man with nothing out of the ordinary appearing to be there other than the fact He was walking upside down upon a ceiling.
Standing above the sink Kupiec would look "upwards" to the stove below. The scents were nothing overly pleasant. There were no spices or seasoned pleasantries that alighted the air other than the God's own natural musk. Pity and a shame to watch those who could enjoy foods choose to eat rubbish in comparison. Upon hearing whatever the mortal had to say or not say on the food matter, the God would take the reigns in shifting conversational topic next. He had been the one to visit here this time after all. Both were so naturally business oriented, it was only natural to dive into matters.
"I digress though," Kupiec would begin, turning to fully face the cyborg once again. "I waited until you were finished with your meal before inviting Myself in." A 'you're welcome' was implied in the Deity's tone as He tucked his hands into His suit jacket pockets. "I see you've kept the decor the same since I was last here." Ku would say with a slight playful smile, peering over to the wall of monitors, the many fans and the untidied cot. In light of their last conversation within these walls, it was a matter of further offering the olive branch. Moving past what had been previously discussed in a negative light for the sake of a continuous benefiting of one another.
With those points out of the way, still standing upside down, Ku would tilt His head with a layered grin. "So ... anything new you'd like to talk about with Me? New friendly acquaintances for instance?"

[attr="class","biggie"] [attr="class","textie"] THE LONG GAME There it was. That familiar chill followed by a familiar dark voice- the kind of voice that fit both an alleyway mugger and a friendly politician; fitting, given they both were planning something unpleasant for you. “Being modest suits me,” she said dryly. “You should try it sometime. You might have more friends than just me, Daniel, and … The Goddess of Dreams. That’s who that was, yes?” At this point she turned to him, but without aggression. Her demeanor was kept firm but nonthreatening, though she knew the conversation would not allow such politeness going forward. “Hah.” She said. A single laugh at his implied thanks. “That’s a first. If only you could be so polite when I’m at the diner.” She met his gaze, tilting her head lazily to him and looking at him as if he was no more interesting than a shadow on the ceiling. They both knew that each other knew; that was part of the game, wasn’t it? Constantly keeping up with your opponent, thinking five moves ahead… pieces moving across a checkered field. She grinned back at him. “Like to? No, not in particular. But let’s not beat around the bush when it comes to business.” She folded her arms and tilted her head slightly. “Yes, I’m familiar with Her. And She with you, I take it.” Rhetorical. Maevia already know that Arithelia was acquainted with the devil; that was going to be Maevia’s unexpected gambit in this match. She just needed to wait for the right moment. “I know you have an interest in Her. The only question is: business? Or personal?” ===== Tags: Kupiec Notes: short but adequate [attr="class","iconie"] [newclass=.biggie]-webkit-transitionduration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover]margin-left:-300px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie]opacity:0;margin-top:-425px;margin-bottom:150px;width:285px;height:400px;padding:10px;background-color:#000000;border:solid 1px #000000;color:#e4e0e0;text-align:justify;overflow:auto;margin-left:10px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;font:11px calibri;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .textie]opacity:1;margin-left:610px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie::-webkit-scrollbar]width:10px;background:#000000;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background:#9589a0;border:2px solid #e4e0e0;[/newclass] [newclass=.iconie]opacity:0;margin-top:-240px;margin-left:-220px;margin-bottom:50px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .iconie]opacity:1;[/newclass] [newclass=.tagsie]opacity:0;font:11px calibri;color:#b7b7b7;margin-top:-75px;margin-left:-75px;margin-bottom:40px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .tagsie]opacity:1;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass]

هل يهمك لعقد صفقة؟
"My darling Nev." Kupiec replied with that particular smile of His. No doubt the dancing suited mortal would have shared that much information afterward. "She was one of them, yes." Nevyne had indeed been one of the gods in attendance. How fun it was for some to imagine the workings of a mortal's brain paying resemblance to a clock. The inner workings. Every tiny screw and cog, cranking the arrows round and round the clock face while attempting to comprehend a new concept. However the real thing would have always promised to be more entertaining a notion for the God Himself. The brain lighting up with activity. Neurons connecting and influencing others about it in sparkling displays.
The idea of Maevia being confused even in the slightest by His reply brought Him great amusement. His little Mae-Mae was a mortal that, after all, spun those wheels so much in attempt to become a grandly educated being. Would the cyborg be able to guess where or what the other god in question was? Who it had been? Would it irk her at all, in any manner, if she were left in a manner of uncertainty? Opgraven, after all, was not a well known deity anymore. Of all the ancient names that had died off over the centuries, would she ever conclude with Opgraven some day?
"The Diner is under different circumstances." Kupiec would begin with a wave of His hand, dismissing the short laughter. "There, especially considering cultural standards of what is acceptable, you are in public. If a friendly acquaintance were to see you they are allowed under most cultures to approach you and even join you if they so wish. In the place of residence however," Ku would begin walking across the woman's ceiling again, this time approaching the towers of monitors. Those strangely colored eyes of His would glance from screen to screen. "During times of feasting it is customary to wait until the party has finished so as to not interrupt." The God would grin at one monitor in particular that was live streaming the stock market before continuing. "That custom's origin is actually fairly interesting in my personal opinion but I wouldn't wish to talk your ears off from boredom."
Kupiec would turn to face the mortal sideways at the subject shifting to where it needed to be. Arithelia. He listened to her words. He blinked at her visual appearance of considering His presence to be nothing more than a spider on the wall. Those folded arms of hers would be met with a casual lacing of the deity's hands behind His back. Still defying gravity the monitors would illuminate His half turned silhouette. "I have an interest in most everyone, dear. That in itself is not an extraordinary fact."
"To be frank, dear, I wish to pose a similar question to you in return but a touch more focused." Inhaling deeply the God would glance across the room as a small light began blinking upon one of the many electronics. "For instance, my answer to your loosely worded inquiry would be "both". However the vagueness doesn't suit what I believe either of us are wishing to know of each other. So," The eye contact would return, a stricter more serious gaze returning, "Seeing as we're both rather business oriented I can assume we both have business in some form or another concerning her. My question that you will answer is if your business with her is to the goddess' specific benefit or disadvantage?"
Where none of the monitors themselves failed in displaying what they were meant to, a few of the screens would temporarily display moments of distortion before flickering back to normal. "I get requests from, say, hunters. Often. Asking for assistance in bringing their patron the fallen goddess of magic as a prize of sorts." The smile would widen slightly in a non-sincere fashion. "They offer me grand items of interest, a few their very own souls. And I have yet to make such a deal. And you know me. I'm rather the "fan" of those sorts of things."
"So what of you? Is my little Mae playing nice with little fallen Ari?"

[attr="class","biggie"] [attr="class","textie"] FIRST GAMBIT Maevia’s eyes narrowed in surprise. Another deity was present? If so, they were subtle about it; likely not the Spanish-speaking acquaintance of His. She would have to speak more with her contacts at the ball, and perhaps obtain security footage from Anansi, if he would grant it; Kupiec had already proven that deities don’t show up on camera, so a close investigation may give her some hints. In any case, the opportunity to greet them was gone, and there were more pressing issues that demanded her forefront thoughts. She raised an eyebrow at his customs tangent. It was mostly an aside, but it seemed to get him talking. “Well perhaps I will dine at home more often, if those are the customs to which you adhere,” she said. It was meant as a playful jab with a hint of annoyance, similar to throwing a snowball with a small rock inside. She watched his face closely as he spoke, drifting only for a moment by the flickering of the monitors. When he posed the question, she smiled, and put her hands behind her back. “Your ability to deflect and half-answer questions remains finely honed,” she said. She shifted her gaze to data scrolling by on her wall of information, monitors moving tirelessly to display raw and filtered data fed by agents, automated programs, and uploads from contracted hackers and spies. “My interest is business, as always, and I have never faltered in my transparency regarding my motives. Why wouldn’t I take an interest in another deity? Certainly you can see the wisdom in making such an acquaintance.” She stepped around him with lazy steps, and stood in front of her large screens, silhouetted by the artificial light. Her hair moved weakly against the wind from the fans. “I have an interest in Her well-being, now and in the foreseeable future. She is quite a kind goddess, isn’t She? We have had several lovely conversations, and I would like to maintain a positive relationship with Her. That should answer your question.” She crossed her arms in front of her and tapped her arm, flesh rapping on hard steel. Her voice turned colder. “I know your fondness for such things firsthand, Kupiec. And let me be clear: I will not be sharing information that could lead you to Her.” She turned to Him with a dire look. “I wouldn’t put it past you to make such a trade with the hunters, and in fact wonder if the only reason you have not done so is because you simply don’t know where She is.” Her finger stopped, frozen before making contact with her arm once more. She stood like a statue for a few moments as her brain remembered the goddess’s words. If you wish to maintain a positive relationship with Him, don’t bring it up again. She looked down for a moment, focusing on a server town, before turning her body fully to face the god. “Or maybe… there’s something more important to you than such mortal trivialities. Something beyond the worth of a soul or servitude, something that affects you so thoroughly that only your kin can understand, a pain worse than falling that affects you even now.” It was out there. It was subtle and vague, but Kupiec’s mind would pick up on it, whether He showed it or not. Hopefully Arithelia’s assessment was wrong, for Maevia’s sake. ===== Tags: Kupiec Notes: One of many topics to broach [attr="class","iconie"] [newclass=.biggie]-webkit-transitionduration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover]margin-left:-300px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie]opacity:0;margin-top:-425px;margin-bottom:150px;width:285px;height:400px;padding:10px;background-color:#000000;border:solid 1px #000000;color:#e4e0e0;text-align:justify;overflow:auto;margin-left:10px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;font:11px calibri;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .textie]opacity:1;margin-left:610px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie::-webkit-scrollbar]width:10px;background:#000000;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background:#9589a0;border:2px solid #e4e0e0;[/newclass] [newclass=.iconie]opacity:0;margin-top:-240px;margin-left:-220px;margin-bottom:50px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .iconie]opacity:1;[/newclass] [newclass=.tagsie]opacity:0;font:11px calibri;color:#b7b7b7;margin-top:-75px;margin-left:-75px;margin-bottom:40px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .tagsie]opacity:1;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass]

Those strangely colored eyes would follow His little green haired mortal but only until she passed by. Glancing as far as the corners of His eyes, an amused smirk would spread across those lips. An interest in Arithelia's well being. Well that was pleasing news. That informing alone was an alleviating one. His little dove and Him were going to have less conflicts of interest in the near future. That was convenient. "It does. Thank you." Ku stated with His back still turned to the information broker. A smooth series of motions would follow as he brought his hands forward to straighten a musgravite cufflink. "Yes, She has been a very kind deity all around. Well, for mortal kind since the end of the War at least."
His gaze lowering to the cufflink His hand fiddled with Kupiec would listen to Maevia as she continued. Her harshly directed stare upon the back of His head nearly leaving metaphoric holes. "To be entirely honest, dear, your intentions happen to fall in alignment of what mine are this round. So you don't have to worry your precious little head about that." Stepping to the side Kupiec would turn Himself sideways as he began straightening his second cufflink.
A friendly smile would greet Mae, "It's not the hunters I wish to contract with." That would be all He'd say on the matter. It wasn't tipping His hand too terribly so but enough to hopefully alleviate any immediate doubtful concerns His little mortal might have. It wasn't the mortal riff raff He wished to deal with, it was the fallen Goddess herself. Mortals only had enough to their names to offer. But a deity? Fallen or not, Kupiec's mind had already concocted quite the lovely scroll with Ari's name on it if she ever agreed to it. But as to its contents were for Him to know and his little dove to speculate on if she wished to.
The lulled momentary silence was enough to cause the God's head to tilt slightly. If there was stillness it meant his little Mae Mae was thinking. What thought processes was she deciphering? The mental inquiry was short lived however. Not much longer and Ku would have grown bored of the subject material. If Mae Mae wasn't going to continue conversation, He had no problem in doing so. The God would have changed the topic if it wasn't for her finally doing so herself. She fully faced Him, eye contact securely connected. Maevia would speak and the God, being who He was, listened patiently. "Or maybe..." This could prove enjoyable. The beginning of a thought process. Was His little mortal pet dove going to try to decipher what He was planning? The idea resounded as preciously adorable, much akin to puppy experiencing snow for the first time. It was cute. That was how the deity translated it.
The amused grin of a parent watching their child tying their shoes by themselves would remain a while. However, "something that affects you so thoroughly that only your kin can understand," What was she talking about? "A pain worse than falling that affects you even now." By the time the mortal had finished her thoughts the premise behind the grin had disintegrated. Yes, a grin remained but one close to Him would recognize the haughty brass had dried up. The stare He returned to the girl was one of a mask barely hiding His being shocked to silence.
There would be a time of quiet that would pass. Nothing but the whirring of fans and computers would resound. A single blink of those strangely colored eyes, ".... What in the absolute hell are you referring to?" The God would ask as His mind lit aflame. The quiet caution had passed. It had blown away upon the currents created by fans. "What are you insinuating about Me, mortal?" The grin had officially turned sour. Never once had business savvy Kupiec ever called Maevia "mortal". Mae-Mae, dove, dear. The God of Commerce was full of pet names for those he found useful. The manner of which the term left His mouth deftly felt as if a negative slur. The televisions behind the young woman would begin crackling with distortion the longer the pause between obtaining an answer was.

[attr="class","biggie"] [attr="class","textie"] FEINT For mortal kind since the end of the war? That was dripping with implications. She wasn’t going to fall for the bait, though; He certainly wanted her to inquire, to be able to hold information from her and drive her crazy. Not today. Besides, she already had planned to talk to the Owl about some history; this was only one more subject to bring up for that meeting. Her mouth twitched. Precious little head; did He know how condescending His word choice was? Mortals were nothing but adorable little playthings to Him, she knew; years of working with Him led to some easy deductions about His personality. He even thought the same of her. She didn’t care for things like pride, nor about pleasing Him like so many others tried; what she cared about was her own ambitions, her network, and everything she’s accomplished. She would demand respect from Him, not for her own ego, but to be taken more seriously as a business partner. She was not a pawn. Not His. And not Anansi’s. “That much is obvious,” she said, straightening her posture. “Nothing a mortal could offer you would be worth a goddess. My statement still stands; there are many non-mortals who you deal with, I’m sure, and even more certain that not all of them have Her best interest in mind.” That was that. Kupiec would not be hearing Her whereabouts from Maevia, nor her network. If He truly did have only good intentions for Ari, then He should be happy with how seriously Maevia took Her security. For once, Maevia felt what could be considered fear. Not since their first meeting, where she risked everything, had she felt such tightness in her chest. She had to look at His face, had to read whatever His reaction would be. And she noticed, oh yes. His haughtiness behind His smile was faded. There was a hesitation. There was no going back from this point; a bomb was dropped and she had to face the fallout. Mortal. Her mouth twitched into a grin that lasted but a brief moment. The ever-composed deity was angry. The warping of her electronics was His way of bristling up like an angry cat. Maevia was no fool; she would not press the topic, not now, not while the fangs were bared and ready for the kill. The confirmation was all that she needed. Details would come later. “Just musing out loud regarding something I heard from a recent acquaintance,” she said. She took slow steps around him towards her cot, where she sat down lightly and crossed her legs. “We all have our histories and secrets, don’t we? Things that happened long ago that to this day shape who we are and how we act. It’s interesting, wouldn’t you say, Ku?” She tilted her head, and shifted into speaking the Olden Tongue. “For example, as far as secrets are concerned: did you know I know what you say about me under your breath? That wasn’t very polite of you back at the diner with Mr. Caim. Tsk, and here I thought we were closer than that.”===== Tags: Kupiec Notes: And that's all I needed from it. The grin. That fucking grin.
It didn't last but a moment's time but the sight of it existing at all set three of the multitude of monitors buzzing with an immediate heavy static. She was enjoying this. Lines of distortion would continue to contort the remaining screens. The many fans themselves even seemed to be whirring louder and growing in speed of their blades. A few papers could be heard being blown from their earlier safe places onto the floor due to the increased wind currents being produced.
Kupiec was definitely one of the more laid back deities when compared to the others within the pantheon. He didn't demand much from His little mortals. Didn't demand eye contact remain to the floor because they weren't worthy. He didn't ask for bows. On the contrary the suited God was often seen offering a hand to assist such a human or magi up so that business might be discussed in a more professional manner. So the fact this God in particular had been angered was something not often seen. A rarity, even among His fellow Deities to witness. He did not expect too awfully much from the mortals He dabbled in. Kalidas was so quick to punish a mortal for the smallest infringement while Kupiec in comparison, for instance, preferred to give a snide comment instead. It was just how He'd become over the centuries.
Those strangely colored eyes stared at Maevia as she spoke, even following her as she walked. Not a second passed that His eyes weren't glued onto her. “We all have our histories and secrets, don’t we? Things that happened long ago that to this day shape who we are and how we act. It’s interesting, wouldn’t you say, Ku?” Maevia would receive no reply. Even as she changed the subject His stare would remain. There would be silence ....
.... until Kupiec inhaled deeply and exhaled lengthily once. Just once. That was all that was needed. The fans would return back to their previous calmer ambience. The televisions would flicker momentarily before restoring to their state of normalcy. The smallest of sideways grins would appear, half hearted. "Well you were being a little shit then. Don't think you'd even argue that point." The Deity's voice could be recognized by one who had known Him to be lacking a certain power behind them. A certain overly confident oomph behind them. "Just like you're being one now."
There was no mistaking it. Kupiec knew what Maevia had been referring to earlier. "A pain worse than falling that affects you even now." That was not a sentence to be dropped lightly. Especially if she'd met Arithelia. She knew. A fact that had Him shoving infuriating frustrations down into His chest cavity to feel through at a later time. Ku had no way of knowing how much she knew of the topic she seemed to. And Hells be frozen if He was going to bring it back up until He'd worked through the chaotic sludge storm in His chest that had formed inwardly.
Kupiec would reply in the same language at this time. "Why didn't you tell me you spoke My native tongue? I know so many more insults and compliments in the Olden manner." The God would turn His cheek to give a light sigh to insinuate false sadness, "To think of all the clever quips I could have shared with you in our banters. It's a truly depressing loss." Only to pause in yet another realization.
Hearing no answer from Maevia on the question asked in the foreign language Kupiec chose to answer for her. "I don't believe she does, no."
"Good." Josefina grinned, her voice sultry speaking her native Spanish. The woman gave Maevia one more look over, her eyes still burning with an emotion known as jealousy. A black and white dress. Long sleeves with a high neckline is what this green haired wore in the presence of such a God? Literally? That was okay. The latina grinned wider as she took a step forward. That improved her chances as far as she was concerned. "The last time we spoke was quite a few years ago when, you know." Their deal had been made in order to assist Josefina become successful in her music career. "And at the time you said no to a question of mine because I was "too young and inexperienced"."
Kupiec blinked down to the mortal. The orchestra continued in their current waltz as couples about them danced accordingly. However the God's gaze would remain glued to the brown set peering back up to Him. "... Excuse Me?"
"I'm experienced now." Josefina would reply, raising an eyebrow in a suggestive manner.
"Heh," The God would chuckle once at the events of the past holiday ball. There wouldn't have been that much time to pass before Kupiec had excused Himself from his little Mae-Mae. He had known at the time she'd prefer for Him to leave her alone anyways. Now that she was safe from the suited mortal. Which of course left Kupiec the unpleasantry of declining an offer that He really wished He hadn't had to with the young woman He had then danced with. Turning back to Maevia He'd raise an eyebrow of His own. "I don't suppose you dabble in other dialects?"

[attr="class","biggie"] [attr="class","textie"] CHECK She turned to regard the “malfunctioning” electronics; Arithelia did not lie about this being a sore subject. She barely even hinted at it and He was exuding rage unlike any she’d seen. The business voice in her said that He better not break them; buying more wasn’t a matter of cost, but one of delivery. There were at least a dozen hoops and fake setups needed to get these to her bunker in secret; it was a waste of time, and time was a priceless commodity to her. She noted, too, His pointed stare and lack of response. Would he continue, or would she succeed in switching topics? After all, there was much for them to discuss. It appeared she succeeded, and what was more, Kupiec’s confident tone was… lacking. Whatever happened in His past, and she had a pretty good guess at the topic, it was enough to throw the normally neutral deity into what could only be described as an emotional state. Off his game. Without the cards. And yet for her joy in establishing her hand, she couldn’t help but feel some degree of pity for the god. There was something out there that bothered him that much, that held some degree of control or influence over him. Almost like how despite her independence and power, she was still technically subject to Anansi’s whims; while he rarely exercised orders over her, the fact that it loomed in the background gave her a constant, if faint, feeling of unease. What she didn’t feel sorry for was giving Him a piece of her power and shrinking his ego all in the same moment. “No doubt,” she said, smiling in return. “Someone has to give to back to you, after all.” She couldn’t contain a small laugh at his reply. She slowly walked towards her monitors and gave them a once-over to inspect any damage his tantrum may have caused. “Maybe that’s exactly why I didn’t mention it, hm? But you should know by now that I’m full of secrets and surprises. It keeps things interesting, in my opinion, and I don’t think you’ll argue that.”Other dialects, hm? She knew exactly what He was hinting at. “Claro que sí,” she replied, the common way to say ‘of course.’ Yes, unfortunately she was subject to the conversation He had with his familiar guest at the ball in Felici. “Though part of me wishes I was not privy to your celebrity lays.” She turned back to him once she was satisfied her monitor wasn’t a fire hazard. “Let’s focus on more recent business,” she said, eager to forget the ball entirely. “You are deeply involved with Mr. Caim. You have plans- If I am involved in this deal, I want to know them. All of them. Even the ones you ‘accidentally’ forgot to tell him and whoever else you have wrapped up in this particular web.” Her voice was more stern than humorless, as the latter often was when Kupi was around. Her posture and tone made something clear: She was not going to be left in the dark. She was not going to take his playful quips and wave of his hand to try and change the subject. She was not going to accept half-truths and insinuations this time, nor would she ever going forward. She was not going to bear his condescending treatment. She had her own hand in this game, her own secrets, and her own information to hold over His head. ===== Tags: Kupiec Notes: Topic two [attr="class","iconie"] [newclass=.biggie]-webkit-transitionduration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover]margin-left:-300px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie]opacity:0;margin-top:-425px;margin-bottom:150px;width:285px;height:400px;padding:10px;background-color:#000000;border:solid 1px #000000;color:#e4e0e0;text-align:justify;overflow:auto;margin-left:10px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;font:11px calibri;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .textie]opacity:1;margin-left:610px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie::-webkit-scrollbar]width:10px;background:#000000;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background:#9589a0;border:2px solid #e4e0e0;[/newclass] [newclass=.iconie]opacity:0;margin-top:-240px;margin-left:-220px;margin-bottom:50px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .iconie]opacity:1;[/newclass] [newclass=.tagsie]opacity:0;font:11px calibri;color:#b7b7b7;margin-top:-75px;margin-left:-75px;margin-bottom:40px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .tagsie]opacity:1;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass]

Upon hearing the common Spanish phrase Kupiec grinned as amusedly as He was capable at the moment. The earlier brushed upon topic was not one that Ku was able to move on from so quickly. It was not easy to set aside the emotions that grimed their way up His ribs and glossed over His vision. Earlier Ku may have gotten a genuine chuckle from the comment. A part of her wished to not know of his "celebrity lays". Oh, if only He were His usual self. The wondrous conversational lands He'd gladly take that. There was a clear wide open door for picking on the mortal. A nudge nudge there's-a-part-of-her-that-wished-to-learn-of-his-"lays"-then colloquial route that would have delightfully amusing to travel down.
But he wasn't. The amused grin remained but further humorous bantering would remain non-existent.
His strangely colored eyes did not follow the mortal as she walked past him this time. They drifted to the side to blankly stare at a stack of books beside the cot Maevia slept in when fatigue hit her. How had she learned of it? Mae had claimed it had been a previous acquaintance and the only one that came to mind was Arithelia. But she wouldn't share that ... would she? But why would she? Such questions burned on the back of the God's tongue to be asked for the deity He did not know the location of. The audible conversation's topic may have been moving on but His mind would still remain engulfed on the one prior.
So when the mortal would return to facing Him she would be greeted with His back. "Getting a bit demanding, aren't we?" Kupiec would ask in a soft voice mostly to Himself. Was this what it had been all about? Was she black mailing Him if she in fact knew everything? The Deity would crack His neck upon reaching a rather disturbing angle for what would be considered normal for a human.
"That was not a stipulation when we first agreed upon terms." Began the God. Kupiec would slowly turn to give a single risen eyebrow to the mortal behind Him. "We had an understanding that was agreed upon at 6:27 am October third earlier this year. We have a binding verbal contract. If this was something you wished to know of you should have inquired of it prior to agreeing to terms. I know you'd hold Me to that same expectancy if the tables were turned. Yes?"

[attr="class","biggie"] [attr="class","textie"] MANEUVERS Oh yes, his mind was elsewhere. There was so much opportunity for banter, and He always wanted to draw Mae into it. Now that she was, He wasn’t even responding like Himself. This was worth noting, though whether it was a good or bad thing remained to be seen. “Supply and demand is economics 101,” she said. “Right now, I’m focused on demand.” She watched His display of cracking his neck. Was there even a neck to crack, or was He just making the sound? The inhuman display had no effect on Maevia; Ku was a common sight to her, and really nothing He could do would disturb her. It’s kind of hard to top “watching your arm and eye get eaten,” or the dozens of desperate pregnant women she directed to Him, knowing what happened to their unwanted and unborn after they signed a contract. It was all just… part of His charm. For certain definitions of charm, anyway. She crossed her arms and gave Him an unamused look, like a mother at a sassy teenager. “I would try, certainly. But you would try your best to reach and wiggle out of those loosely-defined terms, of course. So I’m simply doing what’s expected, if the tables were turned, hm?” Well, that absolutely confirmed He had a larger game in mind than simply putting Daniel in charge of straightening out the hunters. “Perhaps your motives are aligned with mine. Perhaps they are opposed,” she continued, walking by Him once more. “It’s safer for me to assume the latter. Mr. Caim is a motivated and intelligent man, with connections and experience that may very well lead him to succeed where others have failed.” It was now her turn to look over her shoulder at the deity. “But you don’t care about the guild, do you, Ku? Why would the god of deals and contracts care if hunters developed a moral compass? In fact, I wager you’d get more desperate deals from both magi and hunter alike, were things to continue on their current path. So why make this deal?” She turned to Him fully and put her hand to her chin in an exaggerated gesture of deep thought. “It doesn’t add up as a wise business decision,” she said. “Considering you might just piss off the Huntress Herself doing this.” Her thoughtful gesture turned into a wicked grin. “So. There’s some reason I’m not getting the whole story. What? Don’t you trust me, Kupiec? After all we’ve been through?” He always mocked her in that way, and she knew why. It felt damn good. ===== Tags: Kupiec Notes: Did something happen, Ku? Why don't you trust me~? هل يهمك لعقد صفقة؟
The wonder of loosely defined terms and contracts was that there was indeed room to wiggle. There was a special invaluable feature of such circumstances. Just like a most precious of gems. It was desirable and worthwhile to search for. To construct. When one of such clarity, coloring and carat weight came around it was handled with quite the bit of pride and pleasure. But that was the thing. You needed to be the one to hold it. And, as fucking pissingly frustrating as it was, the little mortal had a possible firmer grip on any such matter between them at the moment. It wasn't guaranteed or proven, but the fact it was a possibility that grew in confidence with every passing sentence of hers was .... undesirable.
If she knew, there were bigger waves to deal with with in the future than this.
"Of course I don't give two shits about that little boy's club." Kupiec scoffed. The mere thought was insulting. A fact that was made clear in Ku's demeanor. "I could care less if Kal wants to have Her own harem or not .... okay, the bias might be there." The God redetermined after a humorous moment of thought. "It saves me the annoyance." Upon sighing once and a sharp glare at the inquiry of trust would be shot at the mortal. If His Mae-Mae knew as much as she pretended to, she was really pushing her thumb into the bullet hole, wasn't she?
"Sit." The Deity would choose to say sternly. However regardless of the tone He used, Kupiec couldn't help but seem in some visual state of abdication. Barely there, the slightest hint, but it was there to the trained eye. In the past when such a seeming order was made the mortal would sit and the God would remain standing. Similar to a teacher instructing a student. And yet one could hear the distinct sound of two chairs being pulled closer. Two arachnid limbs had apparently grown from the darkest center of the God's suited back, just as they had been known to do in the past, to pull up seats for the two conversing.
The first chair would be allowed rest behind the God whom would be the initial one to sit without having to look behind Him. The second seat would be pulled up to rest in front of Him. Equal size. Kupiec would motion once to the chair with a hand as He crossed His legs properly. This wasn't a lecture this time. This was a discussion. If the mortal refused for whatever reason Ku would refrain from continuing on in what He believed to be an answer to the earlier questions. Most assuredly spouting off some bullet point of an etiquette rule to showcase how rude it was to not take the offered seat.
If Maevia were to sit Kupiec would sigh again as He set an elbow onto the back of the chair for further comfort in His thoughts. Glancing to the side those strangely colored eyes would stare at a monitor momentarily before continuing. Most assuredly gathering His thoughts. "I'm not sure where you are in this life time. In concern to this topic at least." Inhaling through the nose Kupiec would meet eye contact full on. "I have learned, through the few years I've been about, you know," The God would add in a light injection to alleviate the mood a touch. The small grin accompanying the bit would further display the intention, "that there is more to pursue in one's greed than materialsim."
The God would allow the sentiment to linger in the air a moment before continuing. To most, acquaintances and loyals under His patronage alike, this was rather shocking to be heard from the literal God of Greed. "I'm not going to deny your logic on this subject." Kupiec would shrug slightly. "You're My smart green-haired dove." The grin would widen further, but easily still within the realms of seeming pleasant instead of demonic as his smiles had a tendency to cross at times. "At times you're wrong but this is not one of them."
"In many respects this could be seen as a poor business move. I mean, if you discount the possibility of the Guild continuing to grow in political and weaponry power in the country which in turn could lead to a coup d'etat, which could further lead to some lovely opportunities with another war." Kupiec would humorously express all in one breath seemingly. "But that's to be seen another day hopefully." The God would smirk as He only ever so slightly showed His hand in a tenth of a truth. There was a reason for the Hunter's Guild to grow in strength. If a coup developed to overtake the government, that would be its own little bonus if anything.
"But let's assume that's not on the table and we're focusing on structures as they are currently." Kupiec's smirk would lessen to a settle small smile. "At times I have seen it in My best interest to ..." The God paused to consider His word choices, "... aid another without obtaining in turn a specific materialistic gain." Ku would shake His head in quiet amusement a moment before continuing. "It's not charity or pity because I still benefit from it. Just not in a manner that I can experience with any of the senses."
"So when you say that I'm doing this with the chance of My receiving the blueberry's "wrath"," another shrug would pass. "I've already weighed the costs and benefits. And it's worth it to Me." Ku would say within His Olden tongue before switching back. "I don't know if little Ari will necessarily agree with all of my decisions on how to go about this, but that's to be seen." And there it was. The final technically-true sentence. The sentence wasn't a lie in saying His goals were solely Arithelia centered, but the fact it was insinuated would be enough for the average individual. Surely it was just Arithelia He wished to aid. Surely.

[attr="class","biggie"] [attr="class","textie"] CHECKMATE A harem, was it? For a moment she forgot that Kalidas was also the goddess of debauchery; such things were usually the last on her list of thoughts. She made no comment, and watched as Kupi’s shadowy spider limbs pulled two chairs together. There was no reason to push her luck further here. Once the seat was in place, she sat down, crossed her legs, and folded her hands on her knee. She matched His stare with an even look; she was listening while thinking, as she often did. She only nodded at his assessment. Of course materialism wasn’t the only thing worth dealing in; she was possibly the only mortal, Anansi aside, who understood that materialistic gains only went so far, and weren’t worth anything compared to simply holding onto a debt, or banking favors. They were only good for passing onto shortsighted individuals in exchange for something greater. Her neutral expression faltered into a sour glare at His relapse into what she considered His condescending tone. She was not His, she was not little, and last time she checked, she didn’t have wings. Still, it was a bit of a shock to hear Him admit she was right (even if it was padded with a backhanded insinuation). “It’s possible,” she agreed. “But they can’t do it by themselves.” They weren’t the power players anymore, not like years ago; right now the major player was… She smirked. Ah. Of course. Now it all tied together. ”I understand,” she said, matching His language shift and bursting with confidence. “Funny you should call Her that: ‘Blueberry.’ You could say that all of the gods are blueberries. At least…” She lowered her voice to a sly whisper. “On the inside.” Oh yes, she knew. And He almost certainly did not know she knew. And that? That was sweet in itself, but nothing could be sweeter than bringing His shadow-woven plans into light. And so she pressed forward. She straightened up in her chair and took a calm breath. “Did you know that there’s a small, rural region in Strun that refers to Runic Users as Blueberry Scholars? It’s because of the color of the ink, or so I’ve read,” she said. She uncrossed her legs and leaned forward. The lighthearted, joking tone disappeared in the next instant. She brought her folded hands to her chin and idly tapped them against it. “I am very likely the only mortal outside of the University who knows. I will keep it that way. So tell me, then: How many are kept there, and what exactly are you planning?”===== Tags: Kupiec Notes: I know more than you think I do [attr="class","iconie"] [newclass=.biggie]-webkit-transitionduration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover]margin-left:-300px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie]opacity:0;margin-top:-425px;margin-bottom:150px;width:285px;height:400px;padding:10px;background-color:#000000;border:solid 1px #000000;color:#e4e0e0;text-align:justify;overflow:auto;margin-left:10px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;font:11px calibri;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .textie]opacity:1;margin-left:610px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie::-webkit-scrollbar]width:10px;background:#000000;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background:#9589a0;border:2px solid #e4e0e0;[/newclass] [newclass=.iconie]opacity:0;margin-top:-240px;margin-left:-220px;margin-bottom:50px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .iconie]opacity:1;[/newclass] [newclass=.tagsie]opacity:0;font:11px calibri;color:#b7b7b7;margin-top:-75px;margin-left:-75px;margin-bottom:40px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .tagsie]opacity:1;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass]

If the God's countenance had changed before, it shifted further hearing the mortal speak in such confident tones on matters that should not have been known to her. Where as earlier the topic had urged anger, this one easily could be seen to shock the God into absolute silence. So much was He taken back by her words that Ku forgot Himself momentarily, those strangely colored eyes of His temporarily being hidden underneath strips of somethings as was more customary to His natural form, the one with no face. The one that could not be read.
As quickly as the layers had begun to form over His eyes, barely still visible only through their glow, did the strips dissolve into nothingness once again. Allowing the God to blink wide eyed at the other. The question would be met with honest to Gods silence as Kupiec apparently needed time for this revelation to sink in. "... how ...?" The Deity attempted to ask but would allow the inquiry to fade as words were not coming forthright at the moment. There would assuredly be lulled time afterwards for the mortal to input an answer if she wished. Regardless, the God continued to think on matters as they were.
I will keep it that way. She had said. The information was not up for sale or to be given away lightly. "I ..." Almost as if a balloon deflating the God, in a manner that had never been witnessed before, allowed His posture to slump forward and would rest His elbows upon His knees. "I don't know." Kupiec would admit in a moment of raw honesty. There was no pompous air, there was no sewing together of thoughts, there was just the truth. And as much as He wouldn't like to admit it, it felt good to get off His chest after so many centuries.
"I don't know how many there are anymore." A hand would run through His hair in thought as His gaze declined to the floor. "I tried to keep track for a while but there were so many ... factors. I don't know which ones actually died, were hidden away with a cult or were ... 'confined' anymore." It didn't take a genius to see the subject weighed heavily upon the Deity's shoulders. Thinking quietly for a while the God would eventually glance sideways to one of the stacks of books and and would reach out to grab a single novel with a momentarily appearing arachnid limb.
With the hardcover opened upon a knee the Deity quietly ripped out two blank unused pages from the back with a delicacy one used when folding origami. Biting upon His thumb with temporarily sharpened teeth blue blood would soon make an appearance. "I would do it Myself if I could." He would say simply as the blood drops would twist into Olden symbols. "But it's never worked." Kupiec would say as He frowned at the symbols writing themselves. "Even when I send in a human I've contracted with they're discovered. Every. Single. Time."
As the symbols dried in the places asked of them Kupiec held up the paper to showcase the difference in what only a few words could accomplish. Where as the first paper ripped easily, the second remained firm to repel any deity's attempt to rip it. With the thumb healed Kupiec would glance up finally to offer the paper to Maevia, allowing his example to be seen for what it was. In His hands, it was an indestructible piece of matter. In her hands, the mortal would find it easy to tear just as any other piece of paper. "Since I cannot do it Myself, I'm sending in those who can. But higher in number this time."

[attr="class","biggie"] [attr="class","textie"] NEW GAME Ah, there was the humility she expected Him to show after that reveal. She’d never seen Him surprised, silent, shocked, or anything other than in complete control with collected confidence. She flashed Him a grin, as He had done to her so many times. “A nosebleed and a network,” she said, leaving Him to piece together the rest by Himself. Unfortunately, her personal victory was short lived. She couldn’t maintain her haughty joy at one-upping the god at His own game when she saw Him deflate like that. It was… Well, part of her wanted to enjoy being the one in total control while Ku sat there, helpless and upset, but she couldn’t. It must have weighed heavily on Him if He was so open about His ignorance and exhaustion. She shifted in her seat and leaned forward with her hands folded and her elbows on her knees. It was time to listen. “That many?” She said, now more comfortable airing her thoughts out loud. There was a shift in tone that would be obvious to anyone: instead of speaking as they usually did, with snide sarcasm or confident superiority, she now spoke evenly to Him as a business partner, someone who was more than willing to collaborate with Him to work out this issue. “If you can’t keep track… gods, how many have fallen? Are we speaking in terms of dozens? Hundreds? This is much bigger than I expected.” She watched quietly as He took the book and set the symbols in motion. “They’re well-defended in all ways,” Maevia said. “Infiltration included, it seems. Even I’ve had trouble finding contacts within, beyond students. With what they’re hiding, it’s no wonder.
