See the line where the sky meets the sea; It calls me. The beauty and wonder of Haven was not something lost on Surai as she moved throughout the hidden Magi city. It just wasn’t a priority for the human currently. No, her priority right now was making sure her kids were going to be alright. Her wonderful, loving little najmas that had been forced into an exodus due to the foolish decisions of an overly suspicious and condemning government. She hadn’t let the riot reach her children. And now that they were finally in a safe haven, she was going to make sure they had everything they could ever need. Especially if she was going to have to say goodbye. Surai had woken up early that day. Only a mere 4-5 hours after having crashed in the home of one Elijah Kingsley. He’d been very kind to both her and Luca, and she greatly appreciated that. But this was no time to sit. Now was the time for action. So by the time others had finally woken up, Surai had already been busy for a while. Working together with the few other coworkers that had come along (most of them magi for the sake of Haven’s secrecy), plans were already being drawn out on where the kids would stay. Volunteers both from the orphanage and from the city itself were being asked for and assigned to start working on making this place a new home for the kids. In addition, “home” was being decided on and prepared for the children to stay in. As well as some possible form of connection between the new Haven orphanage and the one back in Camlorn. The magi settlement would stay secret of course, but no way in hell were the kids going to be completely cut off from their original home. It was here, in the residence provided for their kids on such a short notice, Surai could be found; hair pulled back into a messy bun simply to keep the hair from getting in her way. Exhaustion showed clearly through her features, but it was being shoved aside by pure, stubborn determination. A few papers had been brought out and written across, detailing possible supplies needed such as food, furniture, clothing, and other materials. Anything that was deemed essential to be given to the children first as they were being moved into this new location. Surai was furiously writing away on some blank sheets while her fellow workers flit around taking care of other work. The surajan had to pause for a moment to shake out her wrist, hissing from the soreness. ”<Suck it up, Surai.>” She muttered to herself in surajan before continuing to write. She had a job to do, and by Irilys she’d get to it for her children.

Nothin' else seems to hurt like the smile on your face A smile couldn't help but form as he listened to the children begin their play time. "Be safe." He'd say the excited pair of feet running from him towards the group of orphans. It amazed him how good his daughter was socially even without being able to speak. He couldn't help but have his chest swell with pride. Both at the fact his daughter had inherited her mother's outgoing personality at least to some degree (sure as hell didn't get it from him) and also that they seemed to live in a Magi society where children were soft hearted and welcoming enough to not be scared away from a child with disabilities. Of course that was probably due to the sad fact that most of the children had experienced a tragedy or trauma of their own to make them more sympathetic, but that was a saddened thought process for another day.
The older earth magi would stand there for a short while, enjoying the ambiance to its fullest, before turning to Pathos behind him. "Please keep an eye on her. If anyone starts crying you can step in." Elijah would say, remembering the first time he'd asked the android to watch his daughter and found that she was a bit heavy handed in the protective nature. Of course he didn't mind it at all but his little one on the other hand had asked for more room to be a kid. Of the which he was going to respect.
With knowing that Stella was under a robotic watchful gaze, he entered the building. It was a familiar one. He didn't stop by too often but was known to make an appearance to check up on a refugee he'd had a specific hand in rescuing. Annie was one said young lady and he'd be lying if he'd said anything other than he was pleased to hear her playing alongside his own daughter. Elijah would greet the few workers that recognized him, either as a past visitor or a leader of the MLM. Eventually he would get an answer to his inquiry, leading him to entering the room where there seemed to be quite the stressed out young woman inside.
"Ms Bazzi?" Elijah would ask. If the human didn't respond the first time he would try again but louder.

See the line where the sky meets the sea; It calls me. Ms. Bazzi? The fact Surai didn’t even flinch when a voice suddenly spoke up was a testament to her tunnel vision. The other, more familiar workers knew her well enough to know it usually took a lot to get her attention in this sort of state. Though most of them were leaving her alone to work on the paperwork. Only occasionally did they come in to report something and earn a half-present nod. It was by the third or forth time her name was called that the brunette’s head actually tilted up towards the noise. However her eyes lingered stubbornly on the paper, distracted by whatever she was writing. ”…..yes?" She asked half-heartedly. It was only once she finished the sentence she was working on that blue eyes flicked up towards whomever had being calling for her. At first she thought it was one of the volunteers helping with setting up. Maybe one of the new staff members, or even one of her old ones. However there was an odd sense of familiarity about this one’s form that made her squint for a second. A second or two later she realized who her guest was. ”Oh, Mr. Kingsley. I’m sorry I didn’t, um…” She trailed off for a moment as another wave of soreness went through her hand. With a frown she glanced down and put aside the pencil she’d been provided to massage the smarting appendage. ”I didn’t realize it was you." Truth be told she hadn’t really known whether or not she’d see the man past his initial offer to let her stay in his home. Now that she had planned to do, she was going to be stuck in one spot for a while. Now why would he be here? With her mind already put into focused mother mode, it latched onto the first idea that popped up. ”Is everything alright? Is something wrong with Luca?" Concern drowned out the weary note in her voice as she asked. Irilys forbid her friend be distressed or anything like that. Although she had essentially disappeared that morning with little word of warning to anyone. Speaking of which… ”Ah, sorry for disappearing this morning. I just thought getting an early start would be best. We need to make sure our kids are situated nicely before we…before we have to say goodbye."A goodbye that Surai was furiously putting in the very back part of her mind to best ignore it. After she’d wrung out her hand for a long enough time (in her eyes), she picked up the pencil once more. Soon enough it was flying over the pages again. Though she was mindful of her guest now; he had been kind to her and Luca after all. But in her current frenzied state, her manners were being put a little behind everything else at the moment. There was still much to be done and so little time. Or at least it felt that way. However she did try her best to flick her eyes up towards the other man at least once more. ”There’s still plenty we need to do. Mostly it’s getting a permanent building for them to stay in. We have an idea already, though now we’re making sure we can furnish it properly to prepare for all the kids. There’s quite a few, and I’m afraid that after the riots there might be even more. We’ll also need to move some more of their things from our original location over here. We left in such a rush there wasn’t too much time…"Originally she had been talking to Elijah. Yet as she went on her words became more of an outward expression of internal thoughts. ”That will have to come last though, unfortunately. Food, clothing, and furniture comes first. Thankfully we do have a number of the new orphanage’s staff picked out. Some from Haven and some from back home. Which we’ll need to inform our boss about. Speaking of which we really do need to figure out some way to get communications up but without endangering the existence of Haven itself in the process…" her voice got gradually quieter and quieter until she was soon slipping back into her doggedly focused state once again.

Gods, please don't get angry at Surai, Elijah jeebus Nothin' else seems to hurt like the smile on your face If there was one thing the earth magi was not used to, it was being spoken to in such an absent minded way. It came along with the territory of being a leader of the MLM he supposed, recognizing how foreign the situation felt. The God implanted parasite simmered lightly within his chest at the arguably rude interaction. Inhaling deeply Elijah would reach out to steady himself with the assistance of the door frame. A needed moment of composing and his best attempt of patting down the metaphoric smoke growing in his lungs.
Gods, how easily angered he was nowadays. It was a source of concern to consider when he had a quiet moment, of the which were few and far between. He had a movement to run and a daughter to appreciate. Such a still time would not come for quite the while. Recognizing that the act was not meant to be insulting, but was a woman sincerely pouring herself into her work for the sake of magi children, the burning sensation lulled back down.
With one last deep breath, Elijah would reestablish his previous smile. "I appreciate your candor and passion for my persecuted people's children." The earth magi would say, choosing to assume the Surajan would listen to his words and not ignore him for the sake of continuing down her rabbit hole of concerns. "If more humans were like you, I could retire." The sentence was met with a chuckle of his, for truthfully he felt that such a reality would never see the light of day. But it was a nice idea to utilize for the sake of a compliment.
"Though I will say, Ms Bazzi, our establishments are more than capable of handling our refugees. We've been doing it for a while." She thinks she has to come in and fix the magi way of doing it. The damn savior complex of humans. Elijah would blink those blind eyes behind those dark tinted lenses. Mentally once again, trying to pat down the fiery hate that flared in his chest cavity. "So you can relax a bit in knowing that we know what we're doing." Elijah would smile kindly as he crossed his arms. "I actually came here hoping I could ask you a few questions actually if you think you have a moment."

See the line where the sky meets the sea; It calls me. Fortunately (or unfortunately) Surai didn’t notice the sudden anger her demeanor had brought about. The stress prevented her from so observant. However she was not so far gone down her rabbit hole of worry to not notice Elijah speaking up again. It halted her in her work, and she looked up again. Right. A guest. The one who let her and Luca stay with him. Where were her manners? Surely she could stop for just a moment, right? Stressed. Stressed. Stressed. She did stop and give Elijah her attention this time (as much as her buzzing mind would allowed). His compliment was not lost on her, and she managed a small, if tired smile. ”Thank you. If only that were the case." Because then she doubted this whole scenario would be happening in the first place. Half of her kids would not have to be ripped away from their second home so suddenly. Surai and Luca wouldn’t have had to stare down the barrel of a gun. It was a pretty dream but…this was reality. Elijah’s next words did make Surai sigh a little and rub her face. He’s right. It was acknowledged but…The surajan couldn’t help herself. I…I can see that, Mr. Kingsley. I mean no disrespect to you or Haven, I’m just…" She trailed off and, for a second, her expression cracked. There was the worry. There was the fear. There was the desperate want to protect. She knew Haven was obviously very capable of hiding itself and taking care of refugees. But she couldn’t help herself. These were her children. Her little stars. She needed to make sure they were alright. ”…I just want to make sure they’re ok. We all do. So much has happened so quickly, and now we had to take them away from their family when they were already taken away from one before. We want them to know we care. We always will…" Her voice trailed off softly for a moment. But then she collected herself and looked back at Elijah. The vulnerable crack was patched up with tape- to be dealt with at another time. ”But I don’t mean to ramble, sir. What questions did you have? I’d be happy to answer them as best as I can." A break might help her wrist stop smarting anyways. And, well, she was curious why he’d sought her out.

Nothin' else seems to hurt like the smile on your face Truly. If only more humans were like this one. The sincerity of her care for the little ones seemed to resonate with the man. This was a soft heart he was speaking to. It was nice to see that in one of a different race. There were few humans that Elijah particularly cared for.
His niece, Maevia, was the only he'd ever felt a wishing to hug the neck of. It wasn't that he hated the race as a whole, just most of them due to their ignorant and hateful ways of going through their lives. An emotion that was honestly growing every day along with the parasite nested in his ribcage.
But this one was a rare good one. It was nice.
With more signs of respect in the recent exchanges, Elijah exhaled lengthily. The darkness ebbing away. For now. "Well we touched on this very lightly upon first meeting." The MLM leader began as he walked his way to a collection of four legs. Most likely a chair, stool, or a small table. "On how you and Luca met." Blind hands felt the structure before grinning, self-pleased. Indeed it was a chair. How convenient. Turning the chair around by its back, Elijah would take seat. The required old man huff being emitted in the process of course.
"As a person that considers him family due to his long-term kindness to my daughter, I'm asking this. I can tell something happened. He's not the same person he used to be, not entirely." Elijah would stare ahead in the vague direction of where Surai stood. "What happened?"

See the line where the sky meets the sea; It calls me. Well here was one hell of a question. Once again Surai ran her fingers through her hair and leaned back in her chair. How Luca and her met. Definitely not in any orthodox way, that was for sure. Though Surai highly doubted it would be a good idea to say “oh yeah a God sent me, no biggie.” First; because she would never betray Irilys’ trust like that. Second; it would sound ridiculous even if she did. But Elijah did have a right to know at least. From what he was saying the two were close. And if there was anywhere better than Haven for Surai to finally, officially give Luca his freedom, then they hadn’t found it yet. Still, the topic was a touchy one. Maybe not so much now that Luca was not currently in the room, but even Surai detested certain elements of the story. It made her skin crawl. But she was going to be honest because- let’s face it- she was too tired and too caring of the other magi to do otherwise. So she inhaled deeply and let it out slow. ”I…Can’t tell you everything." She admitted firsthand. ”Not because I don’t want to, but because I don’t know. I haven’t asked Luca too much about what happened because…I didn’t want to bring up anything that might hurt him. From the first day we met I just…I could see he’d been through a lot. More than anyone should ever have to. He’s improved so much since then." A faint smile came to her lips, but she moved on to actually answer the question. ”But, well…When we first met Luca had been…enslaved." She grimaced at the word. ”Human and magi traffickers had managed to get ahold of him. I don’t know for how long but…any length of time would be too long." She scowled for a moment but it faded. Damn slavers. She’d seen enough of their work back in Pentos. ”However a friend of Luca who knew me got in contact with me to help him. They weren’t able to do anything directly themselves, but I could. So I ended up…" Buying? The word was disgusting to be used in this context. ”Getting Luca out of there. I wish I would have gotten others but I know I can’t save everyone, much as I hate to admit it." These last words were muttered quietly to herself. A regretful acknowledgement, but one all the same. She was no superhero- just an agent sent to help. ”When he first arrived…..It was bad. I won’t sugarcoat that. He thought I was trying to trick him or…" She shook her head thinking back to that first day. How scared he had look. The fact he couldn’t even meet her eyes. Today was a far cry from those dark days only a few months ago. ”But I wasn’t. I wanted to help him be free again, but his time with the slavers had…had definitely left some scars; physical and psychological. So I let him stay with me not as a slave, but a guest. I had to convince him I was really trying to help him. But honestly I think the kids managed to do that a lot better than I did." Another fond smile, stronger this time, crossed her lips. ”They really, really did. He’d come help me in the orphanage back in Camlorn. Now he’s basically considered one of the staff and could work there if he ever wanted to. I know the children would certainly be happy to see him again." The little ones practically adored the zero magi now. He’d become part of the family whether he realized it or not. ”As would I. But I want him to realize he’s free now. He’s always been, but I think being here in Haven might help drive that home."That’s what Surai was hoping for, at least. She looked back at Elijah though. ”I’m not sure what he was like prior to his…capture. But I do know he’s made a major recovery since I first met him. As for what exactly happened though, I’m afraid I really don’t know. I didn’t want to ask that until he seemed ready to talk about it himself." She answered honestly.

Nothin' else seems to hurt like the smile on your face Enslaved.
Elijah's face visibly fell. There was no polite smile anymore upon hearing that word. Gods, that was amongst the worst possibilities that Elijah had been prepared to hear. No wonder Luca had used that particular wording upon that first day at border security.
she took care of me
The earth magi's scarred eyes blinked, his mind coming to terms with what he'd just been told. The person who had taken care of his daughter had gone through the slave underground network of Ethea. The man had never had the misfortune of experiencing it first hand, thank the gods. But Elijah had sat down and listened to a large number of others. Refugees, thoroughly scarred and traumatized. Poor souls needed to be taught the basic principles of 'human' rights. The right to eat. The right to use the facilities without needing permission. Speaking their opinions or at all. Making eye contact.
The fact that had at one point been Luca made his intestines twist. And from the sounds of what Ms Bazzi was saying, she had indeed experienced just that with him. Fingers would curl into his palms, tightening into fists only to ... "Children have a way of doing that." ... relaxing.
Elijah would inhale lengthily as he leaned back in his chair, his blind gaze going skyward in thought. "I know of the system to have an idea of what he went through. You are correct in thinking it was ... bad." A prolonged sigh would escape his lips as those eyes would close. "The Ethean slave trade is very potent in what they do. Haven actually just recently passed new legislature of required hospitalization for refugees that recently escaped from it. The ratio of suicide was at an uncomfortable height for survivors."
Digging the heel of his boot into the wooden floor, Elijah would lean back slightly in his seat. The gentle rocking motion was soothing given the circumstances. "Compared to your human cities we tend to have heavier hands when it comes to law versus personal freedom. But we're also dealing with an ongoing un-publicized genocide." The explanation he felt might be required for any culture shock. It wasn't always the case, but human visitors (usually family members of local magi) tended to be shocked at so many required impositions of its citizens. "The purpose of Haven is for the continuation of our people first."
The political commentary was brief. Solely there for the purpose clarification. "I am thankful for your role in his life. Especially in now knowing where he was ... My daughter could have lost him forever if it wasn't for you." The man's chin would tilt down to give the appearance of making eye contact. "Thank you."

See the line where the sky meets the sea; It calls me. It was a little interesting to hear about the required hospitalization of the escapees. Although after working with Luca, she could understand why something like that might be passed. Of course, there were her own concerns involved, but the teacher was too tired to voice them. This wasn’t her town, nor a town she expected many to openly welcome her in. Much less her opinions. She’d rather just make sure her children were okay than cause a stir. ”I can understand, sir." They needed help. Surai had gotten to see that with Luca. And hearing about the suicides of the survivors here just made her wince. What did those people- no, those monsters do? To drive someone to such a point where they couldn’t even make eye contact with another person? It sickened her stomach, and the surajan rubbed her face again. So very, very tired. Thank you.Blue eyes widened a little. She was being thanked? Surai removed her hand from her face to look over at Elijah. It felt…odd to her to be thanked for something like this. Unexpected. She’d never been doing it for a “thank you.” Even towards the beginning it had shifted from a task for her God to simply treating someone with the respect and care they deserved, and teaching them that they did deserve it. Still, she would accept the thanks graciously. Clearly Elijah and Luca were friends so she could see where it was coming from. ”Of course, sir. No one should ever have to go through something like that. I’m only glad I managed to help him recover in some way. And that I gained a good friend along the way." The warmth she felt infused her words as she smiled. ”I only hope he feels the same way since everyone at the orphanage essentially adopted him into the family anyways." She laughed a little at that. He'd been assimilated fairly quickly into the fold.

Nothin' else seems to hurt like the smile on your face "It makes me glad as well." Elijah would nod, thankful for the bridge the woman had just offered him in breeching the subject he wished to. "Innocents are being corralled into that hellscape every day. Most being of my race." He'd say, interlocking his fingers together as he leaned forward in his chair, elbows resting upon his knees.
"Luca is one of many who find themselves kidnapped and tortured in such a way. I can tell you have a good heart." Elijah would smile. "Your caring for him and the your dedication to the children you traveled with." The examples were technically few to list, but immense with the bullet points that were insinuated. Sure, it was simple to just say 'children'. But each individual that made up that pluralized term, that was where it was. Each beating heart and innocent mind that didn't deserve ill treatment. That was where it mattered.
"I know you said you'd prefer not to divulge with the details of how you helped Luca out of his predicament. But from my position, I'm sure you can't blame me in inquiring." He'd begin. His tone had slowly but surely been transforming from a casual sincere tone of voice to a more business oriented one. "You could help so many others. Countless other magi whom are still in those atrocious conditions. All ages, some as young as the little ones you brought with you yesterday. I can't help but ask ..."
His fingers would circle each other once before resting back in place. "Do you have an informant on the inside? A someone or something that allows you to secretively relieve victims and help them escape? If so I would obviously like to know about them for the purpose of saving lives."

See the line where the sky meets the sea; It calls me. As Elijah continued, Surai got the feeling she knew (or at least suspected) where this was going. Even in her exhausted state she wasn’t completely unaware or distracted. The man’s voice had subtly shifted from casual to business. And as he brought up the ways in which Surai managed to get Luca out of his predicament, she couldn’t help but shut her eyes for a moment. This wasn’t going to be easy. They opened once again once Elijah finally put a question to what he was already getting at. How had Surai known where to find Luca? She breathed in deeply and let it out slowly and silently through her nose. In her current tired state, the thought of possibly lying was completely out of the question. But no way in hell was she going to betray her God. ”I completely understand why you’d be inquiring about it. Especially given that you are friends with Luca." She acknowledged. Honestly, it was more surprising that the question hadn’t come sooner. ”But I don’t have any sort of informant or anything that would allow me to secretly relieve victims or get me information from the inside, as much as I would want to in order to help those captured.” She replied honestly. It was true, in a way. She had no secret spies or agents within the Ethean slave trade. Just a God who had told her to help someone out for some future reason. ”The only way I found out about Luca was through a mutual friend we both shared. One who did not want to be revealed for their own personal reasons. I don’t mean to withhold anything from you, Mr. Kingsley, as I can understand where you are coming from. But I wouldn’t want to betray their trust; especially when they had entrusted me with something so important as helping their friend when they were unable to." Again all technically true and said with complete sincerity. ”I could contact them and ask if it would be alright for me to give you their name now that Luca is completely safe, but right now I unfortunately can’t tell you. I’m sorry." And frankly, she actually genuinely was. However… ”Although….there is one thing I can tell you." She realized, frowning slightly. ”Because I had to actually get in contact with the…With the people who had Luca, I am aware of some of their operations and systems." She glanced up at Elijah. His prior words had spoken true to her before. More than anything she would have liked to see all the poor souls the slavers had kidnapped freed. But divulging information on Irilys was not something she would do for that. Divulging information on the slavers, however, was. ”I might not be able to give you the name of who had told me to help Luca, but I can give you the name of the ones who had stolen him in the first place."

Nothin' else seems to hurt like the smile on your face It was irking, he wasn't going to lie. There was a choice made in the human's statement back. This mutual friend's privacy was considered more important than saving countless enslaved lives of innocent victims. Now could there be circumstances that this mutual friend was only able to assist in that one situation. Maybe it was a one time circumstance to Luca's benefit. But Elijah couldn't help but have bitterness fill his chest with how this non-answer was being constructed.
But then it seemed to shift. Though his pokerface had remained unchipped through out the disappointing portion of what Surai had to share, it now softened. Eyebrows rose slowly. His interest was clearly peeked. It didn't take a social specialist to catch onto the not-so subtle facial hints. The jigsaw puzzle pieces clicked into place with those last few sentences. She'd purchased him. The woman didn't give the aura of a warrior or sniper.
This was a human that had been told a friend of hers had been kidnapped by slavers and had gone through the normal process of purchasing him back. That's why the person was of no consequence. There had been no break out, it had been a seemingly average exchange of currency for a product. That's why she had met with these monsters and now could share this information with him.
Thinking he'd figured out what the situation had entailed, he sat back in his chair. Considering. Deconstructing. Fingers would drum against his legs before he'd sit forward once again. "I would be incredibly interested in that information. We usually don't get the purchasers point of view on that sort of information." The term 'purchasers' was stated with quite a bit of confidence. He was a leader of many for a reason after all.
"Our information usually is acquired from the ones who had bags over their heads being transported to unknown places from unknown origins for unknown amounts of time. I would appreciate if you could share that information with me as well as tell me how much to reimburse you for the purchasing of my friend's freedom." The words would be said in a manner that did not seem to have wiggle room for arguing with. "At least allow me to pay you back for a percentage. I know a slave is not a cheap casual purchase."

See the line where the sky meets the sea; It calls me. Purchaser. You want to talk about a facial shift: the corners of her lips turned down slightly as the muscles twitched with disgust. Yes, she had “purchased” Luca. An act she still loathed since it shouldn’t have been a thing she was able to do in the first place. But it had and here she was, with a new good friend despite the very, very odd way they met. Plus fortunately it got them off the topic of her and Luca’s mutual “friend,” so that was a good thing as well. ”Though I’m not thrilled I got to get that viewpoint, it does have its use I suppose. I could write down the information so that my presence wouldn’t be necessary for anyone else, but I can tell you." No, she had not forgotten the man before her could not actually see (though he seemed to get around just fine). However, Surai had a feeling writing the information down would be best for anyone else he would bring into this. The last part, however, surprised her. Reimburse her? Though it was coming from a good place, she was sure, the thought couldn’t help but put a bad taste in her mouth. It’s like I’m being paid back for buying groceries. Although not intended that way, that’s how her mind took it. However, something else came to mind fairly quickly. She’d only been spending the whole day working on it. it might be a stretch to ask for, but if he was really set on repaying her then why not? ”Though I’m thankful for your offer, Mr. Kingsley, it’s not money that interests me. I was happy to help. However, there is one thing that would mean far more to me than cash even could." She said politely and carefully. ”I’m going to be leaving Haven as soon as I’m able, along with some of my fellow co-workers from Camlorn. As much as you all have been kind to me, I wouldn’t want to overstay my welcome or make anyone uncomfortable with my presence.” Even if anyone tried to deny it, Surai didn’t forget where she was. She was a human in a hidden magi city who’d arrived unannounced. Sweet as people had been, she wasn’t going to push it. "Plus we need to attend to the children back in Camlorn as well, and I’m still a teacher on top of that. At some point we’ll need to return."Now for what she actually wanted. ”I know the kids here will be in good hands. I’ve seen from some of the people who’ve volunteered to help us that they really care." A small but warm smile touched her lips and voice for a moment. Thinking on that alleviated some of her stress. They’d be in good hands. ”But I know we would really like to somehow keep some form of communication up between the two orphanages, if possible, without endangering this place. While we know the kids will be well taken care of…We’ve been with them for so long now- we don’t want to just cut off interaction with them so suddenly. That and I know their friends back in Camlorn would love to keep hearing from them and know that they’re alright as well. We’ve all become something of a family and well…family likes to make sure family is alright." She glanced back over towards Elijah. "That would be the only thing I'd want, sir, if it's possible. These kids mean far more to me then anything else."

Nothin' else seems to hurt like the smile on your face "You're one of the good ones." Elijah would eventually say. There indeed would have been a time of quiet that followed Surai's words. Where some of the time had been considering his request, seeing if it was possible or worthwhile, the rest had been spent simply existing in the room.
Across from him sat a human that cared sincerely of the children of his race. It was, quite frankly, refreshing. As the leader of the Magi movement his interactions with the human race tended to lean towards the negative spectrum. The number of humans that he considered 'good' were a dwindling tally. Especially after the curfew law had been passed. But the woman across from him had just drawn in another tally of that category.
The request itself did not take long to consider. MLM agents were often escorting scheduled groups to Haven and back to human society weekly. Adding 'children's letters to be delivered to the Camlorn orphanage' to the list was not necessarily a huge stretch. This could be arranged through a few short and simple instructions from a superior. Elijah would nod his head, his dreads following the motion lightly. "I can do that." One last nod and Elijah would push himself back up onto his feet, his age forcing a quiet groan to be emitted.
Walking forward the older man would stretch out one calloused hand. The traditional action symbolizing a deal had been reached that pleased both parties. A shaking of hands would be waited for by a patient Elijah. "We can manage that. A once a month or once a week system can be established. Just nothing too pattern following. We've found it minimizes the chance of our enemies interrupting the process." There was a noticeable chill about the use of the word 'interrupting'. Truly was there any lighter way of referring to the mass murder of people?

See the line where the sky meets the sea; It calls me. Unconsciously Surai found herself holding her breath waiting for an answer. The woman hadn’t been lying when she’d said that this would have been the only thing she’d want. And while she was flattered by the compliment Elijah paid her- one she had a feeling did not come lightly- it didn’t mean the man had to accept her proposal. I can do that.Another unseen weight graciously lifted itself from her chest. She could breath again. Thank Irilys. That certainly would make her sleep easier tonight. Well, if she could manage to sleep through the rest of her stress (spoiler alert: the answer is no). As Elijah rose to his feet, so did Surai out of respect for the gesture (though there was a brief flash of concern on her face when she heard the low grain come from him). Gladly she took his calloused hand in her own firm grip, sealing the deal between them. before she responded, there was a sympathetic pause as Elijah mentioned the possible “interruptions” to the process. It wasn’t hard for Surai to connect the dots. ”Of course. We’d hate to put anyone into more danger for this. But thank you, sir, truly. It means the world to us to be able to keep track on how our kids are doing and let them keep talking with their friends. We'd hate to completely isolate them, especially after this." With that she let go of his hand and pushed a few stray hairs out of her face. ”Now, I suppose I ought to write up that information for you. Right?" The surajan thought aloud. And unless Elijah stopped her, she’d head back towards her makeshift desk and grab a piece of paper. All while she was writing down the information she knew, she was speaking too. Explaining the processes she’d had to go through, the contacts she had to talk to, and anything else she could think of (barring her connection to a certain feathered friend) that could possibly be of use to the man in stopping the monsters who’d stolen Luca in the first place. Once that was done, she’d return to him and hand him the paper with the same information to give to any of the others who would be able to read. That way she wouldn’t have to linger in the city longer than appropriate for her kind. ”That’s all I know." Surai finished sincerely. ”Hopefully it’ll be enough to help you find the kameene responsible and stop them from doing this to anyone else." She really, genuinely hoped that Elijah and his “associates” would be able to put one hell of a dent in the group doing this. Because at this point, Surai had a very strong feeling she knew just who she was talking to.
