[break][break] If someone told him that he would be sitting alone at a café in serious thought over his inner turmoil of forming an need for affection from another, he would laugh. He would laugh full heartily at their face with his hideous sounding voice. It would have been such a loud chalk board screeching laugh that he would have been told to get out. So to actually be sitting in said café in such serious thought had blown his mind. His chin rested on the top of a water bottle with a small cup of coffee to his left. In front of him rested a small note pad that he had written down a small list. [break][break] A list that his eyes stared at and wondered full heartily what the fuck was wrong with him? Was he ill? Had Kalidas finally cause him to lose it? What in the seven levels of hell caused him to make a list of the Pros and Cons of trying to form a relationship. A relation beyond sex with a particular human male that was cold as an ice box. Who had the same emotional stats of a rock. A man that was far more feral then any street cat this city could offer. [break][break] Using the pen as a fake mustache he peered down at the paper, taking great care to review his list like a mopping and yet curious child. The very top of the note pad read: The Pros and Cons of Oliver Wynters. Beneath that was a simple box table of the left hand side reading Pros and the right Cons. His Pros went something along the lines of: [break][break] - Can cook
- Never late
- …possibly sexy?
- Great sex
- Knows sign, a bit too perfectly
Caring in his own way? Sorta? - Makes a killer lasagna
- Always know where you stand
[break][break] To the side of that seemed to be a much longer list of Cons. [break][break] - Tad psychotic
- Causes me a lot of pain
- Bleeding every single time
- Not a very good supporter
- No way am I getting my emotional needs met
- Lair, underhanded, easily distracted
- Lack of conversation
- Has the emotional capacity of a rock being tossed into a large lake, never to be seen again.
- Pretty sure he fakes interest in everything
Unable to read I can kind of read him- Pretty sure he doesn’t like me other then for fuck toy
- Bossy
- Cold, like snow storm in winter with a bone chilling wind that no jacket can protect you from
- Aries hates him
Overly possessive But I kinda like it? Male But then again, I guess I kinda like guys, too?

[/I] Enki asked himself with a small mental moan as he closed his eyes. Why was this such a problem? He might have feelings for his superior officer but Oliver often made it loud and clear that their adventures where nothing more then for a good night. It didn’t matter that River secretly liked bleeding like a stuff pig for him. It didn’t matter that he now kept a pocket knife on him just for Oliver. God, wait, did that mean he has become a freak of nature? Oh geez, this was starting to become complicated. He can’t be having feelings for a man that didn’t give a rats ass about him in the long run, right? [break][break] His familiar who sat beneath the table laid his large head on the man’s lap, staring up at him with large and rather confused eyes. Sighing, River rubbed the beast head, his thumb working the fur between his eyes. Taking the small amount of comfort his familiar provided the stressed human. River took the pencil from his curled lip to quickly scribble out Oliver’s name on the top. He kept that up until the name could no longer be seen. Once satisfied he went to mark across the paper out of frustration but stopped. All he could do now was tap his pencil on the paper. Thinking once again on what he could add to the paper to talk himself out of his developing feelings. [break][break] Maybe, he should just talk to him? On second thought, no, that would be like putting your hand in boiling grease. Shit would hit the fan in all the worst ways. Oliver might not even want anything to do with him then. That thought alone caused River to have anxiety well up in his chest. [break][break][break]OOC NOTES

See the line where the sky meets the sea; It calls me. This week had been…rough. Rough was an understatement, but it was the best word Surai could come up with for now. After the riots she’d been a busy bee. Moving many of her orphanage’s kids to Haven for their own safety had taken a toll on the young woman. Sleep was…hard. Though she suspected it would come when her body finally gave out or she was certain her now-faraway children were getting accustomed to their new home. Fortunately she’d taken her God’s advice about spending time with the kids before she had to leave for Camlorn once again, but even so. it had been a hard goodbye for her. Once she wasn’t sure about whether or not it was the final goodbye. She might have a little connection now with Dhristi being there, and Luca, but Surai wasn’t sure if she’d ever be allowed to return. One could only hope. But most of that had to be put off so she could get back and help the children who remained. They were just as affected by the riots as she had been. Though they thankfully hadn’t had to face the business end of a gun like Luca and her. Still, losing your friends was a big deal. Hopefully they could manage to keep the communications up between the two orphanages now. That was one thing the human had desperately insisted on. It might not be face-to-face, but at least her kids would know the others were alright. In the meantime Surai was at the cafe to get some damn coffee. After all that insanity, she just needed a moment to curl up into herself and let her emotions play out until they were spent. That sounded really, really nice to her right now. But before that: coffee. Although as she got it she happened to notice a rather….upset looking man. Who really seemed to hate something scribbled down on a piece of paper. Maybe it was the fact her mothering nature had been called the forefront considering these past few days, but either way Surai found herself actually approaching the man. She fully expected to be told off, but figured she might as well try. Even if she could feel the fatigue settling into her bones. ”Excuse me sir, I might be wrong, but I noticed you looked like you were upset. Is there anything I can do for you? Do you need anything?" The woman asked politely, pushing aside her weariness for now to check on the stranger. 443 WORDS FOR Enki River ― Hey there boyo, you look frustrated as hell

| [attr="class","hbracket"]{ | [attr="class","htextbox"] [break][break] Lead running across paper violently was the only sound that seemed to fill the Hunter’s ears for the time being. It was almost soothing in some strange way to scribble out the man’s name. It was as if by scribbling out the name it would get rid of the issue at hand. Sadly, it wouldn’t do that in the slightest but it sure felt good. He was scribble with such speed and pressure it was only a matter of time that the lead would snap in two. It did just that when a woman spoke to him. He was pretty certain that said lead might of even shot across the small café. [break][break] Clearly startled River turned his gaze towards with the woman with a very strong urge to cover his paper like some school boy caught writing love letter. A love letter that a child might grab and read out loud to the whole class. While he did not reach for it his hand rested against the main subject line. Feeling as if he was caught red handed, he blushed just enough to make his cheeks a slight pink. Was there anything this woman could do for him? No, no he couldn’t think of anything. Shaking his head to indicated he needed nothing he was hoping this might be the end of the disruption of his thoughts. Of course, his thoughts had other thoughts as he second guessed himself. [break][break] In case she turned to leave he would thump his pencil on the table in a way that it would tap the end and butt of the pencil repeatedly. Making sure he still had her attention he would sigh at her and then nod his head. Maybe he did need help after all. He was sucking at making decisions lately and even more so when it came to deal with a certain heterochromatic individual. [break][break] Now, the real deal was finding out how to talk to the woman properly? What should he say and what should he edit out? She was a stranger and he was certain she didn’t want to hear everything. Hell, she looked even more tired then he felt. Which was saying something for sure. [break][break] Curiously, his hands moved to form words to test her, ”Do you know sign?” [break][break][break]OOC NOTES

See the line where the sky meets the sea; It calls me. At first the man started frantically shaking his head. Which was exactly (or close enough) the reaction Surai expected to get. So she merely smiled and nodded to him. ”Alright. I just wanted to make sure. Sorry if I interrupted you." With that she turned and was completely ready to go find a corner table and slump. However a rapid and insistent tapping made her glance back. Oh? Looks like he wants something after all. Curious now, Surai turned back to him with the expression showing on her face. She hadn’t glanced towards whatever paper he had on the table out of politeness this whole time. Surai was definitely a person who could understand wanting privacy (Miss Secret Society). She was in for a surprise though when the man started to sign. Blinking, Surai temporarily put her drink on the end of the table. Lucky for River, she actually did. Her work with children and near constant desire to learn all she could had driven her to become well versed in sign. So with ease she responded: ”I actually do."How interesting it was to find someone else in here that used it. Although now she had to wonder if he was just using it so as to not speak out loud about whatever he wanted to say, or if he genuinely needed to use it. Either way that was not the sort of question you started asking. So instead she made a minor motion towards the paper on the table and asked: ”Does that have something to do with how you’re feeling right now?" Because he really had looked frustrated when she’d first spotted him. She liked to think she had gotten decent at noticing when others were upset at this point.

| [attr="class","hbracket"]{ | [attr="class","htextbox"] [break][break] Blink. Blink. [break][break] Well, that was a surprise from hell. Honestly, he hadn’t expected her to know sign let alone be able to sign back so efficiently. It actually took the hunter back by surprise to the point that his eyes might of grown far too large. Blinking a few more times he shook his head and smiled softly at her like a small child who was secretly excited. Excited that speaking to this woman was going to be so easy! [break][break] Glancing down at the paper he sank back in his seat and seemed to think on how best to answer that questions. Honesty was probably gonna be his best bet here if he wanted real advice on the subject. ”Yes.” He signed while looking down at the paper. ”It’s a pros and con list that I probably shouldn’t of made.” And then some really. He hadn’t really planned on trying to map out his feelings for someone but that is what happened. Now he was forever focused on the subject with the great debate on declaring his feelings. Geez, that wouldn’t go well at all if he did do that. Oliver would probably say he needed medication or laugh at him. More then likely, probably just be done with him as Oliver wasn’t the type who was looking for anything beyond sex. He didn’t want strings attached to anything or anyone. [break][break] ”Not real sure what to do about it really. I, ah, don’t do this often.” Nor did he really talk this often either especially to someone he just met. But hell, at least he would have a neutral party to speak too and one that would be pretty blunt he would hope. It also helped that he would probably never see this woman again after today and thus made this whole subject matter a little easier to talk about. Well, kinda, it still made him feel as anxious as a small child taking a test knowing they would fail. [break][break][break]OOC NOTES

See the line where the sky meets the sea; It calls me. Now it was seeing looks like that which made Surai ever so glad she’d actually learned how to sign. A small smile managed to make its way onto her own face, past the exhaustion her body was furiously fighting off. Which, speaking of… Surai once again picked up her drink and took a sip. Ahhhh…. She wasn’t the biggest fan of the stuff, admittedly, but even she could admit it was a good pick-me-up when she was feeling particularly low. In fact usually a good gauge of how the woman was doing stress-wise was seeing just what she ended up eating. If coffee was being had, then stress was certainly being had as well. As she shamelessly sipped from the cup, she gestured towards the other chair. If River had no qualms about it, she’d take a seat. Might as well from how conflicted an expression he was wearing. Something told her this issue he was thinking on was taking up most of the man’s mind. Call it a mother’s intuition. A pros and cons list, huh? Really must be stuck then. Surai thought. Only other time she’d really seen- or made -those lists was when someone really needed help making a decision on something. Guess it’s time for 20 questions. Especially since he seemed a bit unsure of whether or not he wanted to talk to her about this. Setting down her cup once again, she signed: ”May I ask what it’s a pros and cons list for?” It was probably the most important question she could ask first. ”From what you’re saying, it sounds like something pretty important if you ended up doing this. You don’t have to tell me if it’s too personal though.”318 WORDS FOR Enki River ― Let the questioning begin

| [attr="class","hbracket"]{ | [attr="class","htextbox"] [break][break] With a brief gesture to indicate she could take the empty seat across from him the young man would just sit there for a moment. Gathering his thoughts on how best to describe his situation without too much detail. He had no intention in coming off like a freak of nature or the full version of his current relationship with another. Having to edit something might be a bit of a challenge if he even decided to go through with an edited version in the end. [break][break] Slumped back in his head he would idly play with his writing utensil. ”It’s a list.” Yeah, she knew that all ready, God. ”I am trying to decided, um, I guess. In a way. How I might possibly feel about someone.” There was a pause in his motions as his hands lingered on the last word. It seemed his brain stopped functioning for a mere moment before he snapped out of his thoughts once again. ”It’s a bit complicated.” His hands dropped back down and this time the hand that held the pencil was now using said item to scratch himself on the side of the head. [break][break] Man, this was much harder then he thought it would be to even express to someone outside his non-existent circle of non-existing friends. He was horrible at expressing himself on a daily basis and even worse when he was trying to come to terms with matters of the heart. He didn’t even know where to start honestly as he had no idea where his feelings even formed. No time, no day, no significant event. There was nothing that triggered his feelings like they did in movies or shows. It just suddenly appeared one day out of the blue and has yet to disappear. ”He isn’t the most ‘lovable’ person on the plant. Doesn’t have any redeeming qualities either. Kind of an asshole. Find my personal pain amusing…” The list could go on and on about the negative aspects of Wynters but that wasn’t what he was trying to iron out. He knew he bad very well but there was good in there. Somewhere. If you squint real hard. Tilt your head to the right and then you will see it. All of two inches. [break][break] ”I mean, I don’t know.” A sigh escaped the man as he once again rested his chin on his bottle. ”Im sure you don’t really wanna hear all of this, do you?” Love issues, anyone could see that on TV in a daytime drama so why would anyone wanna deal with it in real life? Especially, someone else’s. [break][break][break]OOC NOTES

See the line where the sky meets the sea; It calls me. Oh, so this was about someone. There was no judgement on Surai’s face as River told her this. Rather, she seemed curious now. Or, well, more curious than she’d already been. This certainly seemed complicated. The kind of complicated that set someone to sitting in a cafe making a pros and cons list. Patiently Surai waited for the man to go on as she sipped her beverage. It was restoring some of her energy and loosing up joints tense from the stress of a hellish week or so. Along with the interest slowly building in hearing about this man’s issue. And the partner he was describing. Who seemed…interesting. Finds his personal pain amusing? There was a lot of different ways a statement like that could be taken. But from the sounds of it, this was one of the negative ways. No wonder it seemed complicated. ”I don’t mind listening if you don’t mind telling me about it.” Surai assured him sincerely. ”I know what it’s like to be stuck on a decision, believe me." Really, she did. Her work with the Vicis Crux had her making plenty of decisions that would rest with her for while. However even in more recent times she’d had to make quite a few. ”So if you want to continue, I’m here.” She offered. If River was fine with continuing with this, Surai would then ask: ”So, so far it sounds like you’ve found plenty of cons for this person. Have you thought of any pros for them?." There had to have been some sort of pros that were making this man like the other. Because there must have been some reason to like someone with “no redeeming qualities” according to River.

| [attr="class","hbracket"]{ | [attr="class","htextbox"] [break][break] He didn’t mind telling Surai the root of all his problems. In a way, it was rather refreshing to get it all off his chest and into the air in some form. River didn’t have anyone to talk to about his issues. Not his brother and certainly no one in the goddamn guild. Come to think of it, he didn’t really have any friends at all other then his familiar. Alas, that was a whole different can of worms and not one he was going to touch on today. [break][break] As for redeeming qualities this really would require a bit of thinking. What was it about Oliver that made River want to stick around him? Well, he was charming in his own way that could count, right? ”He can cook pretty well. Actually, really well. I don’t have to eat frozen dinners for a change.” Bingo. That was a second perk. Now for a third. [break][break] Idly, the cursed hunter scratched at the back of his neck in thought for a moment before his hands returned to speak properly. ”Well, he can be kind of supportive. Likes to play little tricks on me from time to time which usually makes me wanted to slam my head into the wall.” A pause. ”Is that a good thing or a negative?” River questioned slowly with a truly questionable look before shaking his head. These were okay points but probably nothing to really justify his feelings for Oliver. Geez, this was a lot harder then he thought it would be. Maybe it was impossible to fully put his feelings into words? A sigh would escape him as he slumped back into his chair with a small moan of annoyance. [break][break] ”Those are crappy reasons.” Again he seemed to take his time to find an answer before finally just giving up on the matter. ”I don’t know. He’s just one of the rare people that make me feel human and not some freak of nature. He doesn’t torture me. Doesn’t make fun of me or try to make my life utterly difficult. He is just there. I can lean against for support without questions. Makes sure I actually eat something. I mean, there isn’t anything big that screams “that’s it” or “that’s the pro”. He’s just that quite stable support I need and even when I don’t need it he just waltz himself right over. I never have to ask him for anything, he just knows when I need something. But that also sounds…kinda…creepy.” Man, that was the most he had signed in a very, very long time. Talking was not his strong point not even with his signing but still, it felt good. He was finally able to express himself in some form to someone. A small smile crossed his features. ”He got kinda mad at me once when I cut my hair and didn’t tell him.” Now he was just rambling. See the line where the sky meets the sea; It calls me. It looked like the man was starting to open up fortunately. So for a while Surai merely sat there in silence, listening. So far this other person sounded…well, it sounded like a person who could cook. And play tricks. While possibly being supportive? Already Surai was starting to see where the difficulty seemed to lie with this. So far all the reasons- Those are crappy reasons.….Well I mean he said it, not her. But even still Surai waited patiently as River got the thoughts out of his head. This was certainly more than Surai had been expecting, but she could tell it was good for the man. Plus informative in its own way. A man who’s simply there, huh? Interesting. Though not completely out of her comprehension. Her sister’s spouses had been somewhat similar: individuals who’d simply been there while the Bazzi family had weathered through the storm. Of course, there was much more to it than just that, but it was close enough. There was a long pause as Surai drank and considered her next words. ”I guess an important question to ask then would be whether or not you’re happy with him right now. As in, he makes you feel happy with what you’ve got going between you two right now.” She signed back after a moment. ”From what you’ve said so far, it seems like it. So would you see yourself still being happy with them in the future? While possibly in a deeper, more personal relationship?" She asked. Because above all, making sure you were actually happy being with the person was vitally important with essentially every relationship- romantic or non.

He hadn't ever really been "happy" with anything in his life for many years. Sure, he was content usually to a certain degree but he would never label it as being genuine.Something was always off or not quite right. Sitting back in his seat with a small sigh he turned silent. Was he happy with Oliver right now? Yes. Would he be in the future as well? There was a chance of it, yes. Oliver wasn't like everyone else in his life. He wasn't someone that made his life hell. He actually did, in a way, care about him? That's what River would like to believe anyways. That Oliver did care about him to a degree and wasn't just using him for sex only. Even if that was the actual case he would be all right with that. He didn't expect much from him but as long as he felt good about the situation then it didn't matter. If Oliver was just using him for sex then he could use the older man for his own selfish needs as well. [break][break] Sighing again he would sign to her in thought, "Yeah, I'm happy and I think I would still be that way in the future." Admitting something like this was very different for him. He used to hate Oliver, wanted to stab him in the face and then some. But overtime, it seemed his feelings took a left turn off the express way of discontent to the pleasant country side of content. When those changes happened, he had no idea but they did happen without him realizing it. To be honest, it felt kinda good to admit it to someone. [break][break] But now brought about a new problem, what if the man in question didn't share his feelings or ideals. That would put quite the damper on the whole situation now wouldn't it? "Mm, but what if he doesn't feel the same? If he doesn't, then theres a good chance I'm gonna be put on the curb." On a rather cold, wet, and frostbiting day too that he was certain of as of right now. Oliver wasn't someone that got attached to people or really had feelings. Wait, he was going in circles again wasn't he? Goddamnit.

See the line where the sky meets the sea; It calls me. So he was happy. Despite the oddity of his pros and cons so far, he was (apparently) happy. Surai supposed that was one of the most important things. She signed back as much with a smile. ”That’s good. It’s important to make sure you’re happy where you are.”But now they got into the next issue. Acceptance. Would this other man accept this one’s feelings? Or would it end poorly? A tricky and frustrating question to have for sure. Surai took a while to think about this one. The drink that had been waiting patiently to the side was picked up yet again to buy her some more time. Eventually she set the cup back down and strung some words together to form her next question. ”In that case, do you think there’s a high chance of that if you said anything right now? Sorry if that question is a little direct, but it is something to consider." Surai asked. ”Because if the answer is closer to yes, then something good to ask yourself might be whether or not you could see that changing in the future to a point where you’d be more comfortable asking. That or if you could find yourself being content still remaining as you are relationship-wise in the future." The woman didn’t have all the details of this little situation, but she was trying her best to do what she could. It was, after all, proving to be a nice distraction fem the stressful thoughts and feelings that had been affecting her as of late. ”Though if you don’t think you’d find yourself content remaining as you are, it might be a good thing to tell him just so it doesn’t fester and burst later." She added on before shrugging slightly. ”Though I don’t know everything about your situation, from past experience I’ve seen that the festering tactic usually doesn’t get the best results." Though she chuckled, she did mean it.

| [attr="class","hbracket"]{ | [attr="class","htextbox"] [break][break] It was important for him to be happy. Yes, he supposed that should be a thing to be considered but it wasn’t one he often did. River was known for his hideous luck sense he had been cursed by a very angry blue goddess. His happiness was usually destroyed the moment he found and so he didn’t often look for it or tried to be happy. But now that he was he was paranoid it wouldn’t work out. That was one of his biggest fears. All the What Ifs….
[break][break] "I don't know. I am happy as it is currently but I would be happier with the knowledge that he actually does care." If caring was even at all in Oliver's person. Hell, did the dude even have that ability? The mute sighed softly as he struggled to figure out what he should do. He should just come clean and get rid of all this anxiety. Even if he was denied or tossed to the side he would know the reason why and that alone would be enough. Geez, leave it to him to actually form feelings for the most impossible person to care for and about. [break][break] "I suppose I could just tell him. The worst that will happen is he avoids me. I guess, I guess I could live with that." Aries lifted his head below to look up at his Master for only a moment and seemed to have rolled his eyes. Truly, human's were a strange breed as even the beast couldn't understand why his own was so anxious. Really, he should just get it over with. With a small snort, he rested his head back on the ground. River glanced down at him for a moment to gauge his beast. "Looks like Aries thinks the same thing..."

See the line where the sky meets the sea; It calls me. Ah. There we go. Given the minimal information her new friend had been offering, it had taken Surai a while to try piecing together just what relationship this man and his partner had. Now it all made sense. Looks like this was the type of relationship that started with one common interest, was taken casually, but now had one member wanting more out of it than the usual. And if Surai knew anything, she could only guess what that common “interest” was. Nonetheless she nodded and listened still, the circumstance becoming a lot clearer to her now. Though she was temporarily distracted by the sound of a dog nearby. Had she noticed the big beastie before? By the Book, she must have truly been exhausted if she hadn’t noticed that canine. But back to the task at hand. Namely: figuring out what this man’s best course of action was. Especially in a casual open sort of ‘relationship,” or whatever he happened to be involved with currently. Again Surai had to take a second to think. ”From the sounds of it, and please do correct me if I'm wrong, this seems to boil down to what you might regret more. And I know a little bit about that at least.” She gave a dry little laugh before shaking her head. ”So there’s the final question: Which do you think you’d end up regretting more? Telling him and him saying no? Or not telling him and never knowing?" Either would be hard, true, but one could be even worse than the other. ”It’s definitely a hard decision." Surai acknowledge, addressing the whole conversation rather than just the last 9and probably hard itself) question. ”Would you like some personal advice? I’ve seen and had my fair share of odd relationships. Though you don’t have to follow any suggestions I’d make, I’d be happy to give them if you’d like. Especially to help you with something like this." the brunette offered. Sometimes people just wanted to vent and be listened to. Surai could respect that. But if she was allowed to help as much as she could, she would. Blame it on the mother in her. 385 WORDS FOR Enki River ― Want some advice friend?

| [attr="class","hbracket"]{ | [attr="class","htextbox"] [break][break] Why was the most simple choices the hardest to make? It should be simple dealing with the problem before him but it was just harder and it get harder the more the thought about it. Though, with Surai here, it’s gotten a bit easier to figure out. He would just have to make a choice here pretty soon on what he was going to do about his choice. Should he leave it alone and never mention it or actually say something? Which would be easier to deal with? The anxiety that came along with the constant concern of being uncertain or a possible broken heart? Then again, it could work out in his favor in the end if he just came out with it. [break][break] River sighed softly. This was just too much for him and Aries seemed to agree as he raised his large head to meet River’s lowered hand. Idly, he rubbed the familiar’s head to settle himself back down. ”Yeah, it seems that way.” He would sign for a moment. ”I guess, when you put it that way the unknowing part is worse.” [break][break] His hand rested back on Aries. Listening to Surai he gave her a gentle nod. Yes, he would take her suggestions on how to handle the situation. Lord knows he would probably ruin the moment he would try to make. Well, if it actually happened that is to say. But if she had some way of making this easier for him to deal with then he was all for it, hands down. [break][break] [break][break][break]OOC NOTES
