See the line where the sky meets the sea; It calls me. So... this was something new even for Surai. After her discussion with Irilys though, she understood why she had to do this. Though she'd ask questions out of pure curiosity and not disrespect, she'd still go along with whatever the God would say. He had her loyalty, and that wasn't something she gave out very easily. Still, having to go out and buy another person was still a very strange thing for her to do. Yet she'd done it. She'd gone out and bought another living being. It was strange but a necessity. Plus it was undoubtably better that she but this individual rather than anyone else. The very fact she could buy a person... her skin crawled and her visage darkened at the thought. The entire idea of buying and selling people as slaves appalled her. But she'd have to play by those rules for now to get the one her God had sent her to retrieve. So she had. But she could still despise the fact she could buy another person in the first place anyways. For now, though, she probably shouldn't show any anger. She hardly thought that was going to be a good emotion to show around someone who probably thought she was going to be some evil person anyways. Hopefully she could dispel that thought fairly quickly. Because, yes, Surai had every intention of getting this poor Magi out of there as soon as humanly possible. Though that didn't mean she wasn't going to help clean him up first. Once Luca arrived at her home in Camlorn, the woman welcomed him with what she hoped would be received as a warm smile. The whole "buying" (gods she hated that term) process had been a rather odd one, but here he was. Followed by someone to make sure he didn't run during the transfer, but to them Surai offered a more polite than warm smile. "Ah, yes. Thank you very much for escorting him all this way. I can take it from here." Soon after that Surai was pulling Luca into the house, taking care of any other "official" business she had to, and then shutting the door with the other figure staying on the outside. Oh thank the gods that part was over. A heavy, relieved sigh left her as she shut and locked the door. Then she turned towards the Magi she'd recently... acquired. "Well... welcome to my home then I suppose." She said. The house Surai lived in was a fairly modest one. Two stories with a little basement, she didn't share it with anyone else so it was decorated mainly to reflect her homeland of Suraja. It was comforting to her, but probably not at all to the man now standing before her. Oh heavens this was going to be interesting alright. For a few moments Surai merely observed her guest and the current state he was in. Her features softened. "I...Suppose I should introduce myself then. I'm not to sure if anyone's done that already because, well, to be honest I've never done this sort of thing before." She shrugged but gave him a little kind smile. "But my name is Surai. I'd love to talk some more with you but I have a feeling getting you some hot food and a shower would probably be the best thing to do first. Would you be ok with that? I think it would be best to wait some time before letting you go home so that one," There was a gesture made towards her door to indicate the one Luca had come there with. "Doesn't try to snatch you up again." The woman was hoping to take everything slow just not to frighten the man and to see the extent of damage having gone through all... that had done to him. So she was speaking softly and kindly to hopefully not come across as someone who wanted to hurt him. Because she wanted anything but that. 610 WORDS FOR Luca Burke ― I promise you I'm here to help

[attr="class","ig"] [attr="class","kikan"] Though he had no way of knowing just how long it had been since the last time, once again the day had come for Luca to be sold off. The night before, he’d been allowed a shower to clean up a bit, and a fresh uniform to wear until his new master dressed him themselves, then as always he was taken away from the tunnels with a bag over his head so he couldn’t see the way out. However, rather than being taken to the auction block in Dagos, he was pushed into a vehicle and driven away under guard. Hours passed, but with his head still covered he had no way to know where he was being taken, so he mostly spent them sleeping. It was better to be well-rested for whatever the new master had in store for him, after all. On arrival, he was jostled awake by the guard escorting him, and taken from the car once the bag on his head had been removed. He vaguely recognized the streets of Camlorn as he was moved along, and looked dully up at the surprisingly modest house they had stopped at. The second the door opened, though, Luca cast his eyes back down, staring mutely at the ground by his feet throughout the initial exchange. When the woman grabbed him, he would move along without resistance, taking up a place out of the way when she released him to shut the door, head down and hands clasped together in front of him. “My home”, she said. This was the master of the house, then. “Thank you, ma’am,” he murmured back, glancing up at her only long enough to take in some of her features. She had a kind face… but for now Luca wasn’t going to put much stock in that. It could very well be a mask for all he knew, just like the one the last woman who had kept him so liked to wear. He shook his head when she spoke of introducing herself, the beginnings of a confused frown working its way onto his features. This was all oddly informal, and he wasn’t sure what to make of that. Maybe it was a test, to ensure he knew his place, or— Wait, what? Just for a moment, Luca’s composure slipped, and he looked up at Surai with an expression that was nothing short of shock before he was able to force himself back into the meek, subservient demeanor he had held before. Food and a chance to bathe he supposed he might have expected. But the third thing she had said— “go home”… “I-I’m sorry, ma’am,” he stammered softly, “I don’t… understand…” Maybe… Maybe she meant she had another house elsewhere, and that was where she planned to keep him. But then why would she be worried about the guards? “… I don’t think they will try to take me from you, ma’am.” Hopefully he hadn’t spoken out of turn. It would be bad if he had already slipped up here. See the line where the sky meets the sea; It calls me. Oh goodness this poor man. Seeing the meek way he stared at the floor and barely raised his head to look at her made Surai's heart absolutely ache. This was... horrible. Simply horrible. There was no other way to describe it. Who actually thought it was ok to make slaves out of people? To reduce them to acting like... this?Oh yeah, she was helping this guy out of this. Then the surprise on his features when she said he was actually going to go home! There was a lot of confusion in his expression before he could school it, but Surai saw it. The poor dear. Luckily it was something she could explain. With a very gentle gesture, she rested her hand on the man's shoulder. She didn't want to spook him (which she had a feeling might be hard) but she wanted to do something to reassure him she really wasn't going to harm him. Though she had to maneuver a little so she could actually catch his eyes. Her voice was still soft as she spoke again. "I mean you're going home. Home-home, as in your home." A great deal of patience was being granted to this man and any questions he might have. After what he'd gone through- Surai wished she couldn't imagine, but she had a very good imagination- he deserved it. She dropped her hand, kind smile still on her face. "I'm here to set you free. Someone like you doesn't deserve to be a slave- no one does, honestly." She voiced with a look of displeasure in her features on the topic. Then she sighed and shook her head. "But... I'd be an idiot to think I could just save everyone immediately, lovely as that sounds. But a little birdie," Okay she just had to smirk a little at that one, "Told me I should help you out of there. You've got a lot of things ahead of you; it would be shameful to leave you as some... servant to some... some khara* that thinks it's ok to buy people like one would a piece of furniture." Again her face very passionately displayed displeased disgust as her features scrunched up. Shaking her head once more to rid herself of the look, she clapped her hands together. "So! I want to help you get back home and on with your real life. But I'm afraid of letting you go immediately just because I don't want your 'escorts' to catch you again and take you back to... that." It was kind of obvious what she meant. "But I don't want to make you uncomfortable staying here for too long. At least a day or two is all I'm personally going to ask of you. I figure that should at least be enough before I figure they're all completely out of town and you can take your leave without any worry. Better safe than sorry, yeah?"------- *khara = shit 496 WORDS FOR Luca Burke ― I mean you're going home boi

[attr="class","ig"] [attr="class","ninety"] [attr="class","joker"] [attr="class","game"] Surai Bazzi She maaaay have her work cut out for her. A little teeny bit. [attr="class","kikan"] The instant the woman’s hand settled on his shoulder, Luca’s breath hitched, and though he did not move away, just about every muscle in his body coiled and tensed. And while she tried to meet his eyes, he continued to stare resolutely at the floor. Looking her in the face— looking at her as an equal— was not his place, and… And… Home. The zero magi started shaking then. This had to be some sort of trick. A lie, or a game she was playing at his expense. She couldn’t possibly want to release him, and yet her words were so warm and sincere. He wasn’t sure he’d ever been so desperate to believe something before. But the doubt remained, supported by all the pain and fear that had been placed over him throughout the past months. Slowly, Luca shook his head while a hard lump formed in his throat, and stinging tears began to trickle down his cheeks. Lies. It was all cruel lies. It had to be. Unable to help himself, Luca flinched as the woman clapped, letting out a small, strangled yelp. She was still talking, saying things that might have inspired a sense of hope in anyone less broken, but for the young zero magi it might as well have been a fresh form of torture. He shook his head again, dropping onto his hands and knees as his shaking legs finally gave out from under him. “Please,” he whimpered, vision blurred by rapid-flowing tears. “Please stop… I promise I’ll be good—“ Sniffle. “—and I won’t run… just please stop…” [newclass=.joker]width: 360px; height: 140px; padding: 20px; background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0); -moz-transition: 3s all; -webkit-transition: 3s all; -o-transition: 3s all; transition: 1s all;[/newclass][newclass=.ig:hover .joker]background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.4); -moz-transition: 3s all; -webkit-transition: 3s all; -o-transition: 3s all; transition: 1s all;[/newclass][newclass=.game]text-align:center; line-height: 9px; margin-top:10px;opacity:0;font:bold 10px Roboto; color: #ffffff; text-transform: uppercase; -webkit-transition-duration:.3s;transition-delay: .3s;transition-duration:.3s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass][newclass=.game a]font:bold 17px Roboto; font-weight: 900; color: #ffffff;[/newclass][newclass=.ig:hover .game]margin-top:0px;opacity:1;transition-delay: .3s; -webkit-transition-duration:.3s;transition-duration:.3s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass][newclass=.ninety]width:400px;height:180px;background-image:url(http://i.imgur.com/VcCe39g.jpg?1);[/newclass] [newclass=.kikan]width: 65px; height: 65px; border: 1px solid #0; transform: rotate(45deg); z-index: 2; margin-top: -27px; margin-bottom: -39px; filter: grayscale(100%);-webkit-filter: grayscale(100%);-moz-filter: grayscale(100%);[/newclass][newclass=.ig:hover .kikan]filter: grayscale(0%);-webkit-filter: grayscale(0%);-moz-filter: grayscale(0%); transition: 0.6s; transition-timing-function: linear;[/newclass][googlefont=Roboto][googlefont=Open+Sans]

See the line where the sky meets the sea; It calls me. By the gods; what did they do to him? Surai already anticipated the tension at her touch. Honestly the gesture was more habitual than anything; a typically friendly and well-meaning action. What she wasn't expecting was for the man to break down and crumple to the ground with tears streaming down his face. Clearly, clearly, they had done a fair amount to him not just physically but psychologically. A mother-like protectiveness swelled in Surai's chest much like it did with her kids. Despite the fact this man was definitely a man and not a child. Still, she moved off quickly and soon returned with some tissues. Which she offered to the man as she crouched down by his side. "Hey... Look I know you don't trust me, and I can understand that. You've clearly gone through a lot; probably more than I can even imagine." Surai continued to speak softly, kindly. It seemed like loud, snap noises startled the poor boy pretty badly. "But I promise you- promise you- I'm not going to hurt you. I'll prove it to you, okay?" She meant every word sincerely, and hoped Luca might believe her even a little bit. Or at the very least take one of her tissues to clean off his face. She'd prove it to him- mark her words. "For now let's get you situated, okay? I can show you to your room, and then make you something to eat." With that she stood and held out a hand to help Luca up. Whether or not he took it would make no difference to her: she'd offer him a kind smile all the same before leading him towards his room. As she did she talked. "Now do you have any preference for food? Allergies? Dislikes? Likes? Are you a vegetarian? I went grocery shopping not too long ago so I'm pretty sure I could make you something." Once they had walked a bit further into the house and up the stairs, Surai opened a door to reveal Luca's room. Again, it was pretty modest but with a Surajan style going to it. Though it was probably clear the woman did like shades of blue. There was a decent sized bed, a wardrobe, a little dresser, and a window showing the outside. "Your bathroom is just down the hall. If you want you could take a bath or shower while I fix up something to eat."406 WORDS FOR Luca Burke ― You're gonna love it here I swear

[attr="class","ig"] [attr="class","ninety"] [attr="class","joker"] [attr="class","game"] Surai Bazzi Feel free to have Surai come back whenever [attr="class","kikan"] The woman stopped making her promises. Luca registered as much between sobs, nor did he miss the moment when she turned and left. For his part, he didn’t move much aside from shuffling back into the nearest available corner, dreading what his new master was going to bring back with her. Would she hurt him for breaking down on her so soon? Or give him something to do whenever she came back…? As it turned back, what the woman brought back with her were tissues, and held them out to him as she crouched at his side. Crouched, not stood over, as though they were somehow equal… Still sniffling, Luca carefully accepted one as the woman started talking again, spouting more gentle, kind words. She was making promises again, saying she wouldn’t hurt him, and that she would prove it to him… Though still resistant to trusting her, as he began to dry his face he thought that maybe he should just follow along for now. Whatever this woman truly had in mind would become apparent soon enough. His eyes followed her wearily as she stood, and it was only after a notable pause that Luca shakily accepted the woman’s help in standing. Should he be protesting that, if anyone, he should be the one preparing food? That sort of thing… serving around the house… that was his job, wasn’t it? But as he followed her up the stairs, he didn’t speak, save to answer her when asked about his diet. “I… I don’t really eat meat…” Not before, and certainly not during his time in the tunnels. Meat was not a luxury often wasted on slaves, even if he hadn’t already been a vegetarian. The mention of bathing, he concluded, was a suggestion in disguise. She wanted him to clean up, and so he would. In… “his” bathroom. That seemed an odd thing, having his own bathroom, but he wasn’t about to disobey. Nodding mutely, Luca would wait until she had left him alone again before wandering off to make use of the bathroom she had indicated. Moving as quickly as he could while still doing a proper job of cleaning himself, he would undress and shower, leaving the water at lukewarm so as not to waste any of the warmth on himself while he cleaned up. See the line where the sky meets the sea; It calls me. Look at him now, shaking as he stood up. Even with her hand. Though he had accepted it. That was an improvement right? At least the woman was going to take it as one while she flashed him another smile. Baby steps. She had to remind herself that this was probably going to take baby steps to get him to relax. Then after that, actually believe what she was saying was true. By Irilys she hoped she'd do this right. "No meat: got it. I'll see what I can whip up then." With one last smile, she went off to her kitchen and left Luca to himself. Hopefully a nice wash would do him some good. Meanwhile she could gather herself and think about what to do with him while cooking. She was, in the most generalized sense, babysitting someone. Granted this someone had gone through hell so she had no qualms about doing this (plus, well, her God had asked this task of her, so no way in hell was she going back on it). Still, she'd just have to get used to it, she supposed. That and probably being a bit quieter around him until things got a little less tense between them. Clearly he didn't trust her yet. Which was completely understandable. Hopefully she could prove herself soon though. Over the course of perhaps an hour (give or take) she managed to whip up something tasty to eat without any meat, but still be nutritious. She... really doubted that he'd been fed fairly well back in that hellish place he'd been kept. So she wanted to get him back to full strength. Get some meat on those bones. "...Oh Gods I'm starting to think like my mother." The woman realized with a slight pause before dramatically groaning and shaking her head. But there was a fond smile on her face nonetheless as she continued on to get Luca. Stopping outside the bathroom door (or his bedroom if it sounded like he'd already finished and the water was off), Surai called out. "Food's ready! Oh, and I did go out and buy you some clothes since... well I wasn't really sure what you'd arrive in, but I figured having some nice clean clothes would be nice, yeah?" I mean who didn't like that? "They should be in the wardrobe. They... might be a little too big, but a size too large is better than a size too small, right?" It was a bit of a joke. Hey she was trying here. Anyways, she started back for the kitchen. "Anyways, you can come out to eat whenever you're ready."With that she'd return back to the kitchen to grab both of their plates and take them to the living room. Might as well get as comfortable as she could for a situation so... bizarre. 476 WORDS FOR Luca Burke ― Food will help right? Food always helps

[attr="class","ig"] [attr="class","kikan"] By the time the woman returned, Luca was already out of the shower and dressed once more in the uniform he’d arrived in, his damp hair allowed to hang loose for the time being. She would find him sitting quietly on the corner of the bed she had given him, staring down at the hands folded in his lap while he waited for his next set of instructions. He quickly stood as the woman reappeared, turning to face her with his head kept down, as was appropriate. Food and clothes were both mentioned, and when it seemed he should respond, Luca answered her with a murmured, “Thank you.” As she left him alone again, Luca turned toward the wardrobe and picked out a plain, lose shirt and pair of pants to replace his uniform with, which he left folded at the foot of the bed when he was finished redressing himself. As soon as this was done, he made his way out of the room and back down the stairs, wandering first toward the kitchen only to find it empty. After a brief hesitation, he turned to carefully explore the rest of the house in search of his keeper, and eventually found her seated in the living room with a pair of full plates. Here, Luca paused again, wondering where he was expected to eat, and whether or not it was safe to ask. As he did, he edged forward, tail swishing nervously, until he could pick up the plate that seemed to be meant for him, and would stand back with it uncertainly until he was told to do otherwise. See the line where the sky meets the sea; It calls me. Yeah this was going to take some getting used to. But it was something she'd like to discuss when they were both sitting down and getting food in their stomachs. Surai didn't want to suddenly go all hangry on this poor fellow. He, out of anyone, deserved that the least. So she let him get to his changing while she went about getting their food out. Once Luca stepped into view, Surai once again gave him a kind smile. He seemed so... so uncertain. Like a little kid entering a building they'd never been in before with no guidance. Honestly it probably wasn't the best thing for her to compare the fully-grown man to a small child, but hey it was making this a little easier for her. She'd take what she could get. And as he asked her a question, she answered. "You can sit wherever you'd like really!" With a free hand she gestured towards the table she sat at. There were a few extra seats as the table itself wasn't particularly large, but good enough to accommodate 4 people comfortably. "I wouldn't mind if you wanted to sit with me. Besides I did need to mention something about tomorrow."She'd had a little time to think about the next day while Luca had been busy getting a shower and getting dressed. One issue had come up. And if Luca indeed stayed with her to eat, she'd go over it. "Well you see, I'm going to have to leave for a while tomorrow because I help work at one of the local orphanages." She explained. "Though that would mean you'd be left here all by yourself. I wasn't sure if you'd be alright on your own here." Genuine concern was coming through her voice. The man was fresh in the household, clearly skittish, and the woman wasn't too sure on how he'd feel being left so alone in a stranger's house for a long period of time. "I could show you where everything is so if you needed food or wanted to watch tv or... well anything really, I could help. That's option one; you staying here. Or," She paused to take a few bites of her food before continuing. "Sorry, little hungry here. Anyways- or you could come with me to see the kids. Only if you wanted though. I know they'd be really excited to meet someone new- they're all really nice, I promise. Maybe a little excitable but that's, you know, kids." She laughed a little as she shrugged her shoulders. "But if you think it would make you uncomfortable I won't pressure you or anything. Whatever you want to do; we'll do." She assured him kindly. 399 WORDS FOR Luca Burke ― More thanks for your wonderful patience!!!

[attr="class","ig"] [attr="class","kikan"] His keeper’s initial response to his apparent uncertainty did little to solve the conundrum he faced. “Sit wherever you like”, she’d said. Another test, maybe…? But before he could assess which out-of-the-way corner might be best for him to occupy, the woman elaborated on the matter. As ever, the order he perceived was not a direct one, but one Luca followed nonetheless, carefully taking a seat across from her. After making sure that doing so was indeed acceptable, he would begin eating quickly, keeping his head down and eyes locked on his plate. And as he was spoken to, he would listen without a word, only nodding once to indicate he’d heard. The master would be out tomorrow— to volunteer at an orphanage, of all things— and… He paused, wondering if he’d heard right. It had almost seemed as though she was worried about leaving him on his own… but perhaps that was simply a lack of trust. He was new to her, after all. Swallowing his latest bite of food, the zero magi replied, “I… I will accompany you wherever you like, ma’am… O-or if you leave me with some tasks to do, I… can…” Luca trailed off there, shooting the woman a quick, confused look as she went on. Watching television and helping himself to her stock of food were things that a guest of the house might do, sure, but he was no guest here. He was, however, running out of ideas as to how to respond. What he wanted was hardly of consequence, and yet his keeper was incredibly insistent on asking about it. Shrinking in his seat, Luca shifted uncomfortably and set his utensils aside. “I… i-it’s not my place to decide, ma’am,” he murmured. Yet another test. That’s all this was. “… Whatever your orders may be, I will follow…” [newclass=.joker]width: 360px; height: 140px; padding: 20px; background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0); -moz-transition: 3s all; -webkit-transition: 3s all; -o-transition: 3s all; transition: 1s all;[/newclass][newclass=.ig:hover .joker]background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.4); -moz-transition: 3s all; -webkit-transition: 3s all; -o-transition: 3s all; transition: 1s all;[/newclass][newclass=.game]text-align:center; line-height: 9px; margin-top:10px;opacity:0;font:bold 10px Roboto; color: #ffffff; text-transform: uppercase; -webkit-transition-duration:.3s;transition-delay: .3s;transition-duration:.3s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass][newclass=.game a]font:bold 17px Roboto; font-weight: 900; color: #ffffff;[/newclass][newclass=.ig:hover .game]margin-top:0px;opacity:1;transition-delay: .3s; -webkit-transition-duration:.3s;transition-duration:.3s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass][newclass=.ninety]width:400px;height:180px;background-image:url(http://i.imgur.com/VcCe39g.jpg?1);[/newclass] [newclass=.kikan]width: 65px; height: 65px; border: 1px solid #0; transform: rotate(45deg); z-index: 2; margin-top: -27px; margin-bottom: -39px; filter: grayscale(100%);-webkit-filter: grayscale(100%);-moz-filter: grayscale(100%);[/newclass][newclass=.ig:hover .kikan]filter: grayscale(0%);-webkit-filter: grayscale(0%);-moz-filter: grayscale(0%); transition: 0.6s; transition-timing-function: linear;[/newclass][googlefont=Roboto][googlefont=Open+Sans]

See the line where the sky meets the sea; It calls me. At least he was eating. If he didn't do that then Surai would've been even more worried than she already was. Which would've been quite the feat. But as it were Luca did end up sitting across from her. How much of that was his own choice or him somehow thinking he had to; the woman didn't know. Just focus on the fact he was eating, Surai. That was a good thing for now. She might be confusing Luca, but she meant what she said. Though clearly it was going to take some time for Luca to realize that. Irilys had told her it wouldn't be so easy. She could understand that now; returning her new companion's freedom was going to take some effort. But after seeing the man and interacting with him... she wanted to. No one deserved to be treated so poorly to the point where they looked confused about watching television. Most of her kids would jump at an offer like that. And the way he shrunk in his seat only made Surai's expression all the sadder. Yes, she would be patience. But she would help this man. Even if Irilys hadn't given her a quest to do so. "Well..." She began, speaking slowly as she thought things through. "I think... I think it might be fun for you. Or at least... At least something good. I know for a fact my kids would absolutely adore you. You'd probably get a lot of comments on your eyes; they're very pretty. Oh and for sure they will try to play with your tail. Especially Eddie. I'll try my best to keep them at bay but..." The woman shrugged as she smiled helplessly. "I'm afraid they have strength in numbers. They might be a little overexcited at first upon meeting someone new but... they're really loving kids." Her voice had gone soft with a fondness she couldn't quite hide (not that she ever tried to with her kids). "Most of them lost their families during the... the zombie incident, but they're still really caring and wonderful. They still have that spark only a child could have. I'm so proud of them..." Surai trailed off as her voice got quieter. She hadn't realized she was going on a bit, but she was quick to get back on track. "Which is why I think it'll be good for you to meet them. You... You could use some of that love, I think." After the hell he'd surely endured, Surai firmly believed that. And the kids at the orphanage might have an easier time getting Luca to relax. They had a way of showing their care and affection that made it unmistakable. Hopefully that would help. Surai had hope. So, with a smile, she put her utensils on her newly food-free plate and stood up. "Now then! If we're going to the orphanage tomorrow, we should definitely get to bed. As much as I love my *najmas, they can definitely wear you down quick. We'll need to energy tomorrow. So I guess for now this is goodnight." And with one last warm smile to her new housemate, she took his dirty plate and utensils (no matter how he protested or tried to take them himself if he did) and headed off to the kitchen. Hopefully her kids could help her this time. ------ najmas - stars531 WORDS FOR Luca Burke ― Next stop: Crazy Children Express
