To be honest all she wanted to do was curl up on the couch and take a nap but it was the last day she could go to the museum before her project was due. She supposed she could look up the exhibit online, but her teacher would somehow know. They were annoying like that. Maia really didn’t like that this teacher was forcing her to actually participate. In fact she was quite annoyed. Mainly because this teacher wasn’t letting her just put in the bare minimum amount of effort. That was how she had survived thus far, putting in the bare minimum amount of effort that was. Maia begrudgingly got up, and tugged on the hoodie, and grabbed her student pass. She didn’t even know where the museum was. Sighing she punched the word into the digital map and tried to program her way there. Maia made quick work of the route, as it was raining outside and her hair was extra frizzy in the rain. She wanted to get out of the wetness as soon as possible really. Plus the weather was giving the already grumpy girl a headache. Maia could only stare as she approached the building. It was overly opulent and flashy. There was marble, gold, silver, everywhere. This place must be worth a fortune and she couldn’t believe the sight she was seeing. Was all of Felici this rich and flashy with their money? She couldn’t understand this lifestyle. After checking in the girl walked over to a painting that was on one wall. A black canvas with red streaks. Funny they almost looked like… “Blood”. Guess she had found her painting to report on. She continued her focus on the painting and for the first time since she had gotten to Ethea, Maia might have been genuinely smiling. She found a work of art that seemed to echo something she loved. |

I refuse to give up. The museum. Whoever said she wasn't cultured back in her Victor's Military Academy days was a liar. She'd come here of her own volition. That said, she couldn't quite believe the opulence of her surroundings. If they had this much money, why didn't it go to the poor? An orphanage, for example. Audrey was sure there had to be better uses of the money than making every orifice gold or silver. She shook her head in disgust at the thought that people cared so little for their fellow man. Then again, she was a mercenary. It wasn't like she was much better. She killed people for money. Perhaps that made her the very definition of a hypocrite.
She was walking past some of the paintings when she heard a small beep from her arm. She looked down at one of her bionic arm and arched an eyebrow, looking at the girl nearby who had spoken. You see, she had a translator. Both arms translated what was heard, but one was calibrated so it recognized her voice and translated her own words into a chosen language. Generally the one being input into the other arm. It was a good system. Audrey walked up beside the girl.
"It does look like blood. I wonder if that's what the artist meant it to look like." Her arm translated her words into Ikigaian. Just Audrey's luck really. She knew how to speak Fokradiinian, and Ethean. But she had to run into a citizen of Ikigai. She smiled warmly at the girl dressed all in black. Audrey herself wasn't going to criticize considering she was dressed in a black button down and slacks. Hell, she'd even gone with a black tie. Her fair blonde hair was tied up in a ponytail for maximum neatness. There was no need to look unruly when there was no-one to intimidate. She was in a museum and therefore she was doing her best to look like she belonged there. notes: I almost forgot Audrey had translator I DYS of GP & WW[/quote]

The idea that someone could make such an art form out of blood? The thought made her lick her lips in anticipation. Maybe she could experiment when she got home. There was lock on her door for a reason. The Ikigaian girl longed to be there now, taking her blade and carving into her skin to get that special ink that would complement her pale skin even more. Maybe the Ethean people were good for something after all. The painting in front of her could serve as a focus for her to experiment with in the future. Maybe make a duplicate? The Ikigaian wasn’t actually paying attention to anything else, thus the blissful look entered her face.
That was until she heard someone approaching her. Shaking her head a little the teenager restored her face to the normal scowl that was prominent on her face. The teenager was once again retaining her normal façade of a scowl or a smirk. She wasn’t sure what this blonde beauty wanted, but she was sure that she hadn’t made any mistakes. She wasn’t sure if she had broken any rules, but she didn’t think she had. The beeping that seemed to be happening earlier seemed to have come from the woman who had approached her.
Maia listened as she suddenly heard the beeping before suddenly an arm was speaking Ikigaian at her. Wait… She didn’t have to communicate in Ethean? The teenager was a feeling a bit conflicted. On one hand there was the convenience, on the other… she now had to be polite. Well shit. Glancing up at the blonde beauty the teenager nodded. “It’s beautiful isn’t it?” Her face would have a hint of that euphoric bliss before she glanced back at the woman. “So much blood must have been used, I wonder the source.” Maia knew that the painting probably wasn’t actually utilizing blood, but she could imagine. “Can you imagine? The colors are so vivid and bright, but they fade out into darkness.” She would look at the painting again before leaning forward a bit. “I wonder what it smells like… animals or human?”
Did she care if she could come across as a little creepy? Nope.
Cue the creepy euphoric smile again.

[attr="class","burst"] [attr="class","whitenight"] ❝ Audrey saw the girl shake her head. And while the girl had looked happier before, she seemed to go back to a scowl. Go back, as in scowl seemed to be her default. Audrey had just met the person, but there were people you could just tell they were scowlers. Whatever. But then when she answered the girl seemed to go back into a good mood. Commenting on blood too. Audrey arched an eyebrow at the rather unorthodox comments being made. "I very much doubt it was real blood. Hanging a crime in a museum stopped being cool in like the medieval era I think. Or maybe it was the Renaissance I don't keep track." Her arms kept doing a little beep everytime they translated something. Audrey remembered that when she had first gotten the translator option on them, the beeping had been very annoying. That said, it was sort of comforting at this point. A reminder that no matter where she was in the world, communication wouldn't be a problem. The girl musing about whether it smelled like animals or human made Audrey curious. Well that was emo to the extreme, but hey she was a merc it wasn't like she hadn't seen anything like it. She'd even seen it when she was an orphan. "It probably just smells like paint honestly. But that doesn't stop it from portraying both the darkness of death, and the vibrance of lifeblood, right?" She thought that was a pretty apt art thought. It wasn't exactly how deep she was trying to sound, but eh, Audrey went with it. The euphoric sort of smile might have made other people think twice, but Audrey looked at it and saw a puzzle of a person. Maia didn’t even stop to think twice that her comments could be considered… creepy. This person had been the one to approach her, so she was able to make any comment she wanted. The blood was calling to her, and she might as well shared the love, no that wasn’t the right word. Obsession. That was much more correct. Maia was most certainly obsessed with it, and this painting seemed to be exuding an aura that called to her as well. The blood was beautiful after all.
Her eyes flashed at the continued conversation. So this person was also interested in the parallels between a bloody canvas and paint? Interesting. Very interesting. She knew that normally someone would have just walked away. Having security called on her was a real possiblilty, but hey, she was being forced to come here for school. She wasn’t causing a disruption. “Ah, but how beautiful it would be.” She gave a small smirk as she glanced over at the bionic. “Would it be a crime if the blood was given willingly?” She tilted her head at the woman curious to what her answer would be. “Such a shame it is only an imitation of what could be.”
Maia slowly nodded. That sort of made sense. The woman at least wasn’t dismissing her as many adults did. “Even if that is true, that the painting is just a fake, it still doesn’t answer the question.” She gave a harsh chuckle before smirking again. “You might have a point though, blood runs through all of us, no matter of race.” She would glance towards the arm that was beeping. “Even cyborgs have a form of blood, the oils and fluids that run through them keep them running.” She would stare a bit at the woman’s arm before shaking her head. “The artist could have used a different medium, and it really would have excelled the painting, making the message much more real.”
Maia’s scowl would return briefly at the idea of a lost opportunity and sigh. She somehow doubted that this paper would be the one her teacher wanted. Though, she might just do an imitation of it. Somehow she doubted that her teacher would be able to tell the difference between blood and paint once it was dried on canvas. There was a special project required at the end of the semester. Turning her head towards the woman Maia grinned. “Maia Nomi.” She held out her hand in introduction.

She shrugged. Then the girl brought up an interesting point. "It probably wouldn't be classified as a crime, but probably a waste if it was from a blood bank. 'Cause there's not too many people who donate anyways. Still it's an interesting question." She heard the girl speak about how that still didn't answer a question and Audrey arched an eyebrow. "What do you mean? Of course it would just smell like plain old paint." The girl spoke about how blood ran through them no matter what race they were and Audrey nodded. "That's something a lot of people seem unable to grasp. We all bleed the same way." Make the message more stunning huh? "So what do you think the message is? Because I think it might just be a paint splatter. It's a shame it is, because done right with this colour paint it could've portrayed the impermanence of life. Or even equality, that we all bleed the same and therefore discrimination shouldn't exist." She sure as hell her translator was good. But it was a quality one, so it should work great. Maia watched as the woman shrugged at her comment. Odd. She wasn’t at all disgusted by her words and thought process. Maia knew she was a little odd to say the least. Even though her thoughts made sense to her, that didn’t mean that they made sense to the general populace.
Maia took the time to consider the woman’s words. Her eyes shifted. “I was more thinking of getting a … volunteer.” She wasn’t going to go past that thought process with this stranger, but her face got that euphoric smile back onto her face. She was relishing the idea of… being offered blood. It honestly made her happy thinking about it.
Maia would tilt her head as the woman continued to talk. “I was asking the question of what a cacophony of all the race’s blood on canvas would smell like.” She smirked as she looked towards the woman. “Would it retain its smell? Would it fade? What if it stained the canvas?” There were multiple options to choose from in this scenario.
She would only nod at the repeat of her statement. Everyone bled. Those who didn’t were just unnatural. She didn’t trust anything that didn’t bleed. Glancing over at the cyborg she tilted her head. What color would her blood be? Blue? Red? Pink? The possibilities were endless.
Maia would glance towards the woman and shrug. “Hey, that sounds good. Can I use that for class?” She smirked and pointed to her paper. “I’m here for class” She rolled her eyes a bit, and scoffed. “I feel so out of place, especially with this...” Maia almost spit out the next word, “…opulence.” The teen shook her head. “It could also be the importance of life as it is, and we have to cherish it.” That was what it was wasn’t it? Blood was something to cherish.
Maia would nod as the woman shook her hand. “Audrey Maxwell.” It wasn’t a name that was easy on the lips, but she supposed it didn’t really matter. “Why are you here then?” She had already given her reason, but was curious why the woman had decided to visit the museums.

[attr="class","burst"] [attr="class","whitenight"] ❝ A volunteer huh? This girl was serious about this. But people probably wouldn't willingly volunteer for an art project with their blood unless there was something in it for them. "Well either you'd have to pay someone, or there is always the option of getting someone who isn't necessarily in a position to refuse. And while that sounds iffy, hear me out. I'm a mercenary. I have to go against bandits regularly, and they all have bounties on their heads. Now, if you were to use blood from THEM, you probably wouldn't get too much argument. Get me?" Audrey smirked slightly at the thought of the blood of the scum she hunted down be splattered across a canvas. "I'd imagine its smell would depend on how recently it was painted. Bloodstains smell until a while later, right? And magi blood and human basically look the same. Which is why I find the whole rights issue ludicrous but that's another issue for another day." She rolled her eyes. They all bled the same. They all screamed when their lives were about to end. They all cried. Audrey found her mind drifting to some topics that others might consider sinister. That said, Audrey thought that if she vocalized such things in front of this girl, she probably wouldn't be judged harshly for it. "As for it staining the canvas, it would depend on what type of canvas you used. Blood stains cloth, so if you were using a cloth canvas it would probably stain like anything else. And bloodstains are always the most resilient things to stain, probably tied with, like, wine stains." She tapped her chin. "Wine stains would add a different sort of colour too, now that I think about it." That was muttered lower, mostly to herself. But the translator translated it regardless. She heard the bit about doing it for class and Audrey smiled, nodding. She heard the question of why she was at the museum too. "I'm here because I do enjoy looking at the art and trying to think of alternate meanings to them that the artist might not have thought about. Or if the artist didn't put their meaning, guessing as to why they painted it. And sure, you can use what I say. I know what a bitch homework can be." Audrey chuckled. "Although the opulence is bothering me as well. There are so many orphanages all over the world that could've benefited from the money used to make sure the nobles could enjoy themselves." Audrey's nose wrinkled at the thought. "Such a damn waste of money. And anyone who willingly spends such money on a building that is impermanent and doesn't help others has a waste of space where his brain should be." Alright perhaps that was a bit harsh. Maia never quite said that people would willingly volunteer. She was sure there would be some type of medicine that would allow her to have people do as she pleased. Or she would have to put people in a position where they couldn’t refuse her. Either would do.
Her sentiments seemed to be echoed by the mechanical voice that transmitted the blonde woman’s voice and words into her traditional tongue. “Mercenary?” She thought she knew the word, as if came off of the woman’s tongue in Ethean but wasn’t fully aware if she did or not. The translation certainly helped. “Are you offering a steady supply?” Maia’s eyes would slit down towards the woman sizing her up. She wasn’t sure if the woman seemed, to be honest with her or not. She needed to know if she could trust her, as much as Maia did trust. “Will you cut out their tongues after I’m done so they can never speak my name or image to anyone of the law?” She wondered how this person would respond, and what their reaction would be. The teenager could be cruel, and as a soft smile lit her face she laughed. “Just kidding.” She wasn’t but she couldn’t allow this Ethean to discover that.
Maia would nod in agreement. “I wonder if there would be a way to preserve the smell, keep it…” Her eyes would lighten a little, “…fresh.” The Ikigaian teenager would simply raise an eyebrow at the woman who was translating her words. “Magi are already one step ahead of humans genetically, they need to be humbled.” She didn’t like that they didn’t have to work to have the skill or get what they wanted. Her thoughts drifted to her stepbrother, now a country away and a scowl came across her face. “If we don’t keep them in check, they might start to think they are better than us.” Did the girl have a slight inferiority complex? Maybe. Was it a smidge evident? Maybe. The girl could have continued on, but the woman seemed to change the subject.
Maia would nod as the woman continued on. “I wonder if I could do my potential project on a cloth canvas then, maybe a cotton?” That would certainly make things interesting, and Maia bet that the blood would become quite vivid on that certain type of material. “I don’t consume wine.” She really didn’t know anything about it, or its supposed stains. The men of her house had never really drank wine, to begin with.
Maia would only nod at the wine stains being a different color. She didn’t think that the woman had meant to say this to her, so she chose not to comment on it. The easiest way to get through topics was to ignore them if the other person didn’t seem to be interested.
The teen would nod. “Art can be interesting…” She much preferred art that was interactive though. Fine art really wasn’t her style. “Art means something different to each person.” Screw the social standard. Each piece of artwork had a different meaning to it, and Maia would always state as such. The grumpy girl would give a smirk and nod. “Thank you,” would be the words that followed. This was probably the first person in Ethea that Maia had thanked. Not that this woman would know this, but the thought still crossed her head.
The teen’s nose would twitch at the words the Ethean lady was saying. “Ethea prides itself on being... pretty.” She supposed that the country tried to be pretty to cover up for the darkness that lived within its borders and the secrets that the country neglected to share with the rest of the world. “Nobles are in a league all of their own.” The girl would never understand the hierarchy in this land and wasn’t even going to try.
The Ikigaian teenager would nod in agreement. She herself was quite frugal and really didn’t like it when people wasted money. “Money should never be wasted.” The simple statement would come out of her mouth. Maia wasn’t particularly disagreeing with Audrey, and she didn’t really care about how that could be perceived.

When she heard the bit about cutting out their tongues she had been about to answer when the girl said just kidding. Audrey raised an eyebrow. She'd just been planning on killing them. She'd have only given the girl the ones who were wanted dead or alive. Anyone else could implicate her in trouble as well. But, well if the girl had ended that discussion that was that unfortunately. Audrey had been finding the idea interesting. Especially if it involved money. She loved earning more money. She heard the bit about keeping the smell fresh and she shrugged. The smell of blood was something that she'd just gotten used to. It hadn't occurred to her that somebody found it unusual enough to want to smell it. Then she heard the bit about keeping the magi in line and Audrey scoffed. "I hardly think the newer generations have time to foster feelings of superiority when they're busy running for their lives." Her parents never thought of her as any less than their beautiful little girl. They died regardless of the fact they loved and cared for a human. It was a matter Audrey was a bit bitter about. And why not? She'd lost her parents and her forearms to hunters who thought magi deserved to die. This girl was interesting to talk to, but that didn't give her a free pass to talk about magi that way, at least in Audrey's mind. However, she knew racism was simple ignorance so she just sighed. She heard the words about the cotton canvas. "I don't know what cotton canvas is like, but cotton has a bad habit of pilling. Not something you'd want to paint on because I don't think it's as durable. There is a reason they're called canvases after all." She heard the thank you and nodded in recognition of it. She heard the bit about Ethea priding themselves on being pretty and Audrey chuckled. "Fokradiin prides itself on being strong. You're supposed to be a warrior. I suppose that sucks for the people who aren't warriors, but blood and strength are what's considered 'pretty' in my home country. What is Ikigai like in that respect?" Audrey was honestly curious about other countries. "Right? Money's damn hard to get! Why these nobles think they can use it on anything is beyond me!" | [attr="class","white"] [attr="class","night"] [attr="class","burstmini"]@someone2 [attr="class","burstmini"]392 words [attr="class","burstmini"]notes: there we go. [attr="class","de1"] Maia looked at the woman with a sly smile. She wasn’t going to push the topic further, that would only raise suspicions, and besides, she was new to this land. She didn’t want the authorities after her just yet. Besides, she didn’t have her bow with her. That would not be good if she got into combat. She would have to rely on her stamina, and that wasn’t a good thing for her to rely on, at least not yet. Glancing towards the cyborg she would shrug, if only to further the idea that she as joking. She couldn’t be too careful.
Maia raised her eyebrow at the cyborg. OH. She was a magi sympathizer. She didn’t understand why anyone could actually care about magi, or think they were anything more than enhanced humans. It really was a shame. She had actually developed a bit of hope for the cyborg. “It still doesn’t change the fact that magi have abilities that humans don’t.” Yes, she was a little bitter about the subject, especially given her family situation.
She would tilt her head at the woman. “I didn’t know that much about cotton.” Frowning, Maia scowled. Well there went that idea. Oh well. She didn’t really care about the assignment that much. Besides, she couldn’t actually do well in school. That would only confuse the man that she was supposedly the daughter of. She couldn’t have that, could she?
Maia would listen as the robotic voice would translate the woman’s odd voice into her language. It was odd how she talked about fokradin. Maia didn’t know much about that country, and she didn’t really care to know, but she wasn’t going to cut the woman off, it only let her know more about Audrey. “Ikigai is… odd.” She knew that her country was focused on catching up with Ethea, but she also knew that Magi were treated better there. Hence the country was odd in her opinion. “It is very different from Ethea.” That much was certain.
Maia’s scowling face would break into a smirk about the comment on money. “Nobles just like things to be pretty.” She had said it before, she would say it again. “Money makes things pretty.” Thus the logic was that the more money you had, the prettier things would be. “Maybe they should use it on oh, immigration policies, or disaster relief?” She was thinking of Camlorn, there had been a zombie attack?” She wasn’t sure exactly but it was all very devastating to the citizens. “Or maybe they would benefit from visiting the dagos slums?”
Really nobles had no sense of common people.

[attr="class","burst"] [attr="class","whitenight"] ❝ Audrey heard the words about magi and she sighed. "They may have abilities humans don't, but humans also have the ability to walk through society without prejudice following them. And without the threat of looming death and doom too. You seem to be underestimating what hunters put magi through." She flexed the fingers in her bionics, musing to herself about whether she wanted to say more. She decided she might as well. It wasn't as if it was a secret. "Hunters took my arms. Wanted to make sure I wouldn't be able to use magi magic. They didn't know if I was magi or not. I was not." She'd leave it at that for now. This person was obviously prejudiced against magi, so mentioning she had a magi parent probably wouldn't help matters. Besides, she was finding the current conversation positively delightful regardless of the girl's obvious racism. She heard the words about cotton and Audrey shrugged. She knew it was hell to get blood out of cotton, that much was known. She'd figured out the best materials and colours to wear on mercenary contracts early on in her career. Her teachers at Victor's Military Academy had even given her some tips way back then. She heard the words about Ikigai. They were simple, with very little elaboration. Audrey supposed that someone who was racist against magi would think Ikigai was odd. That's the one thing she knew about the country, was that it was fairly magi friendly. She heard the words about money being better used on immigration or disaster relief and her emerald green eyes sparked with annoyance. It wasn't directed at the girl in front of her though. "Damn nobles. You're right, disaster relief would be a better use of the money. Or training the police so they were less lazy and prone to bribes. Although pretty much ANY use would be better than 'beautification of Ethea'. Beautification my ass. Fancy word for spending money on shaped shrubs!" Her nose wrinkled. "I'd like to kick them where the gods split them. Maybe into the Dagos slums. That might be fun." Her mouth curved into a sly sort of smirk as a mental picture of that situation sprang fully formed into her mind. | [attr="class","white"] [attr="class","night"] [attr="class","burstmini"]@someone2 [attr="class","burstmini"]384 words [attr="class","burstmini"]notes: Aww lookit them bonding XP |

Maia just slightly rolled her eyes at the sigh. Only very slightly.
It was almost as if she was back in Ikigai with the words that the arm was pronouncing. There was that same sense of… wrongness in this cyborg as there was on her homeland. It wasn’t fair that mag had more abilities, and it wasn’t fair that humans could potentially be passed over for things because Magi were better. Maia knew this first hand. Growing up it had been Tatsu, Tatsu, Tatsu. In her family Tatsu the Magi was better than anything she could even attempt let alone accomplish. “Magi brought it upon themselves with the showcasing of their abilities. They seem proud of what makes them better than humans, and they see any chance to, flaunt it. This makes them arrogant, what made hunters take them down in the first place.” Maia gave a grin that could be considered cruel by some, but also… angelic by others, “They survived, which just proves that although they are more adept than humans, and born with a higher power that Humans can’t access, Humans have the potential to rise above those natural traits to survive.” She smirked at the cyborg. “Seeing their blood, only proves that they aren’t gods.”
At the cyborg’s explanation, Maia would nod. At least it explained the sympathy that the woman felt towards magi. A sort of twisted sense of family, something akin to empathy. How sad, that she was blinded by her own loss to not see the positive in the situation. “At least, you have confirmation that you are not of magi descent.” She would tilt her head as she looked towards the woman. “I am sorry that your arms got taken, such a shame for a human to be mutilated as this.” The teen would gesture towards the woman’s arms, in a motion of sorrow. “I hope the hunters compensated you for your loss, at the very least.” Most of the hunter’s guild had a smidge of honor. At least that is what she was being taught, especially towards humans. “The only positive thing is that you are now more useful in terms of being one of Etheas ‘technological advancements’.” This last part was said sarcastically, the teenager assumed that this woman had heard this many times over. “Not that you had a say in it, I imagine?” Who would choose to be a cyborg after all?
As the conversation moved to the nobles Maia would nod in agreement. “Aren’t all police corrupt?” Maia would tilt her head, to her, that was just the way of the world. She would snicker at the beautification comment and snort. “At the very least they could learn how to save money properly,” Maia smirked in thought. “I doubt they ever tried to coupon.” That was a very high doubt she had.
“I was more thinking an arrow in between the eyes.” The teenager would love to… “Target practice anyone?” She snickered before turning the page and standing. “Want to find the most abhorrent piece in here for me to write about? I have to write about two pieces, compare them and all that.” Grinning she tilted her head. This companion would at least make the museum just a little bit fun.

[attr="class","burst"] [attr="class","whitenight"] ❝ Audrey heard the words about how magi flaunted their abilities and rolled her eyes. "Yes because hiding everything they can do so that they don't die by hunter is CERTAINLY flaunting it. Just because you're jealous of something someone else can do doesn't mean they deserve to die. It's like if you accused someone of being an awesome piano player, or good at a certain weapon. It's ludicrous to think that someone should die just because of a talent they have." She was suddenly picturing a pianist being shot though, so her brain perhaps wasn't completely working on logic at the moment. She was magi positive though, so damn if she wasn't going to say something. She just sort of ignored the bit about humans being superior. It was quite clear to Audrey how screwed up this girl was. She heard the bit about magi descent and chuckled. She'd leave that one alone. Technically she was of magi descent but there was no need to rile this girl up. Her father had been a magi. Audrey heard the words from the girl about mutilation, and how she hoped the hunters had compensated her for it. And then the bit about Ethean tech advancements. "Nope they didn't compensate me. They killed my family and took my arms, and then they left. Although one of them is no longer a hunter. He will be...compensating me...sooner or later." On the word compensating, Audrey's eyes grew dark along with her aura. She had plans for him eventually. She hadn't said it outright though so it was safe. Then she just laughed and made out like she was joking. She wasn't terribly worried anyways since the other girl seemed to have similar inclinations anyway. "I'd much rather be a cyborg than not have arms. I am fortunate that someone in Fokradiin was wiling to pay for bionics for an orphan." She laughed at the comment about coupons, and then the bit about the arrow. "Ha yeah do that and then go 'oops I was doing a William Tell impression guess I should've practiced first...or not' I plead not guilty, but perhaps I'll take a bow. Would certainly make the next election more interesting." She grinned. As the girl mentioned something about finding two pieces of art, something fluttered by Audrey's feet. She bent over and picked up the piece of paper. A flyer for the zoo? Why was this in here? "Do a comparison on a zoo flyer to some of the actual art. Only don't mention it's a flyer just act like it's modern art and see if your teachers catch on." Audrey grinned, scanning the flyer. Lions, tigers and bears oh my. Part of it was just a list of the extensive species of animals so that was fun. Penguins, polar bears, Giraffes, monkeys. All in alphabetical order, which Audrey supposed some people might appreciate. | [attr="class","white"] [attr="class","night"] [attr="class","burstmini"]@someone2 [attr="class","burstmini"]478 words [attr="class","burstmini"]notes: Blame Rinny for the random zoo goodness. |

Just because this woman was a magi sympathizer, it wasn’t going to change Maia’s opinions of magi. Especially if she got a lecture. Lectures were only to make the girl more stubborn, more of a brat than she already was. Yup. It was starting.
The eye roll was just the start of it wasn’t it? Audrey began speaking about how Maia was jealous and she just shook her head. “I never said they should die, just hide their abilities. Why should they get the right to flaunt them and show them off?” Her words came out sharp. The girl might not be academically smart, but she was a quick thinker. “It really is showing just how egotistical Magi are if they think that they have the right to not be modest in their abilities. If anything they should be apologizing for them.” She gave a smirk on that comment and shrugged, “But hey, we can disagree on things and still be civil."
No matter how much of a lecture that she got Maia wasn’t going to budge on her view of Magi and how horribly conceited they were. She also didn’t want to end the conversation (which she was actually enjoying) with Audrey on sour terms. That just wouldn’t do. It would seem disrespectful. Maia wasn’t disrespectful to people who actually gave a shit. Just a little standoffish.
Maia frowned. The cyborg hadn’t been compensated? That was odd. She was being taught that those who were damaged should have been compensated. Unless…. Did the human that Audrey was harbor a magi? That would explain not being compensated. Killing the magi would have been considered the compensation for the family in that case. In those times it was illegal to harbor magi. At least, that was what she was being taught. “Have you brought in an official complaint to the guild?” It was a long shot but maybe they would compensate them now that the genocide was over. “If you have the names of the officers, maybe they can be punished in that way?” A former human complaining that her arms were taken by the guild might actually get somewhere. From what Maia knew, the guild didn’t like bad press. “I’m sure you do, and he rightfully should compensate you.” The statement was out of her mouth before Maia noticed the darkened look in the cyborg’s eyes. Contemplating for a moment she would tilt her head with a sinister smile, “In the most beneficial way to you possible I imagine.” She didn’t know what the cyborg was planning, and it wasn’t her business.
She would nod at the words that came next. “I would not be able to stand it if I were to lose my arms…” The girl would look down at her hands and sigh. “I wouldn’t be able to compete then, my entire life has been dedicated to learning my craft, and I wouldn’t be able to continue without my arms and hands.” If Audrey looked closely she would see that the teenager had calloused hands, hard from the work she did with her bow, and lean muscle that rippled down her arms, showing yet another form of her dedication. “An orphan?” The brow would be raised as she glanced back up at the cyborg. “My apologies, was anything expected of you when you were taken in?” She was curious about this matter. As far as she was concerned she was basically an orphan. There really was no way Mr. Wynters was her father. Nope.
Maia tilted her head confused. “William Tell? Who is that?” It wasn’t someone known in Ikigai. At least not to her. Maybe it was someone who was known in Ethea. “Oh… Do you mean that you would hit him on purpose?” Sorry, Audrey the joke was lost on the teenager. She didn’t really understand what Audrey was trying to say. “We all know the elections are rigged.” There wasn’t much chance to the votes, instead, positions were bought, and families generally inherited the positions. That much Maia had gathered about the Ethean Government.
Maia looked on as Audrey bent down to pick up some random piece of filth that someone had littered. She raised an eyebrow as the woman began to speak and she had the words translated. Shrugging the girl sighed. “But that sounds like a lot of work. Also who would I claim the artist to be?” The idea was a good one, but she wasn’t sure how exactly it would work. “It was a good idea though.” Maia tilted her head in thought. “Maybe there are some collages around here somewhere? A piece of art that actually looks like trash?” She smirked as the conversation continued. “I don’t want to put that much effort into it.”
