► Oh dear gods the bear cubs were back.
"Hey! No! Don't tou-" The hermit's protests were silenced when a pair of fuzzy paws covered her face. She tried to turn her head away, but it was realy hard to escape something when you were essentially covered in it. Only for most people it would be something mundane and kind of understandable. But Lelianna? No, Lelianna had to be covered in bear cubs. Because apparently the big mama bears seemed to trust the redhead with their babies while they went out to hunt for food. While that was actually kind of flattering to see that she was truly becoming adopted by the local wildlife, there was still one problem.
These were bear cubs. Ones that seemed to enjoy climbing about and wrestling the redhead just as much as Skjorn did.
"Blah! You guys are so terrible!" The magi said, though she was soon rolling into a bit of a laugh she couldn't quite keep at bay. "Absolutely terri- ow! Hey! I am not a chew toy!" Hefting herself to sit upright Lelianna displaced one of the cubs on her chest as she reached forward and pried open the jaws of another that had decided to get her leg a chew. Thank goodness their jaws weren't yet as powerful as a full grown adult's; that could have really hurt. "You need to learn yourself some manners! You can't just-- Hey I'm not looking for a new hat!" As she'd been scolding the one, another had started clambering up her back and burying it's nose into the flowers on her hair. It tickled enough to make Lelianna giggle. "N-No! I'm trying to scold someone here!"
Yet these were mere cubs; the equivalent of tiny, heavy, and furry children. They hardly listened much to the magi's words as they continued to swarm the poor girl. "Gah I just know you're all going to grow up to be as bad as Skjorn!" Skjorn was already a handful on his own. By the gods she was really in for something, wasn't she? As she fussed and played with the handful of cubs a bit more, one of them made a tiny grunt that got her attention. Lelianna looked over just in time to see a familiar set of purple hair coming closer. Oh, Caroline must have been coming to the garden for something. Maybe to go to the flower field again. Either way Lelianna waved from where she was essentially stuck on the ground, smiling a bit. "Oh Caro! Hey! What bri- UGH!!!" As she's been talked one of the cubs gave her a big kiss. The magi turned her head to the side and spit. "Ack! Really?!? Bleh!"

I AM NOT MERCIFUL I AM NOT KIND I AM NOT AFRAID TO MAKE YOU WISH THAT I WAS Caroline was back from a recent expedition. It took longer than expected; hunters were starting to wise up about using the obvious paths, but they were predictable nonetheless. She knew their tricks well. Even if it took more effort, and she was out longer than expected, the results were the same: hunters were dead, magi were safe, and Caroline could rest for another evening. Once she dropped off her weapons and cloak, she decided to spend some time in the flower field recharging before doing some maintenance on her rifle. Lelianna’s laughter was hard to miss in the otherwise serene forest. She was getting used to the lack of cars, and the addition of birdsong and insect calls. While gunshots and hunter cries clashed with the sounds of nature, Lelianna’s laugh harmonized with it, like it belonged here as much as any chirping bird or howling wolf. She didn’t need to divert her path much to see the magi… or, well, the parts of her that word covered in energetic fur. It was both unexpected and entirely natural; she could never predict how or where she’d find the magi, but somehow it always seemed to feel extremely fitting. Caroline rose a brow with a smirk, and let out a light laugh at the bear’s well-timed kiss. “Hello, Lelianna,” she said, taking a few steps closer (and would stop if the bears did not seem comfortable. She was getting better at figuring out how to read that, too). Her voice was light, cheerful almost. She crossed her arms and leaned against a tree. “Are the big bears too much for you to wrestle, now? Are you going soft?” Joking was the other thing she was getting the hang of around Lelianna. Her delivery was still stiff and oddly-timed, and often the jokes fell flat, but more and more she found herself able to relax around her neighbor, which cleared her mind and allowed her brain some comforting time to sort through the endless knot that was her past memories and personality. What’s more, Lelianna seemed to relax around her more and more, which made the cyborg less nervous about accidentally making a social blunder.

► Curse these tiny fur ballls! Well timed was right. After the redhead recovered from the sudden kiss she ruffled the fur on that cub's face. "You butt! I'm trying to say hi!" However the cub just saw it as a game, trying to grab one of Lelianna's hands with its paws and nom on it. Fortunately Lelianna let go before that happened and lightly shoved the little bear away. It was alright; it could easily handle that.
"Hey!" The magi further protested when she heard Caroline's joke. Sure the delivery could use some work but Lelianna was starting to identify when the purplette was kidding around. She was getting more comfortable doing so, which definitely made the hermit happy. "No they aren't thank you very much!" Crossing her arms over her chest, the redhead tried looking indignant and composed. Which was horribly ruined by the fact she still had cubs crawling over her. including the one trying very hard to make itself a hat on Lelianna's head. The look of sternness was almost instantly gone from the redhead's face as soon as it appeared. Twisting and reaching she instead pulled the bear off her head and held it instead. "I don't need a hat!" She said, only narrowly missing another kiss from this one.
Cubs.
"But no it's...I guess you could say I'm playing babysitter." A deer aspect magi baby sitter with a bunch of bear cubs. Truly, nature was unique wasn't it? Or maybe Lelianna was just a weirdo. Honestly it could be either at this point. As Caroline approached the cubs didn't seem to mind her presence. In fact the one Lelianna had pushed away started to approach her. Green eyes looked on with only slight concern before glancing around. The mama bears were all gone so fortunately Lelianna didn't have to worry so much. "Oh! Right I was asking a question." Lelianna realized as the cub reached Caroline and stared sniffing one of her legs. "Were you going to the flower fields?" She asked before realizing the cub had gone from sniffing to attempting to climb. "Taavi! She's not a playground for you either! Sorry, she's really curi- ow! What did I just tell you!?" Lelianna said to the cub that had once again tried using her leg as a chew toy.

I AM NOT MERCIFUL I AM NOT KIND I AM NOT AFRAID TO MAKE YOU WISH THAT I WAS She couldn’t stop her silent, smiling laughter as Lelianna tried to compose herself amid a swarm of curious cubs. Her laughter turned loud when Lelianna’s stern face was ruined by her new hat. She was literally the least intimidating person she’d met; she always seemed to be covered in flowers or playful animals or humming a tune or smiling… there wasn’t a single part of her that was frightening or cruel. “Babysitting,” she said. “I didn’t know bears needed babysitters.” Was she joking? Was she serious? It was hard to tell with her flat delivery. She was genuinely surprised that nature would choose someone to babysit, but once more, completely expected it out of the magi. Her eye drift downward and she considered the curious cub silently for a moment, before her glance was drawn to Lelianna (Who finally managed to speak without a mouthful of bear kisses). She didn’t move as the cub sniffed, as if she didn’t even register that it was there. “I was,” she said. “I-” Slowly, she turned her head downward. She felt a sudden pressure on her leg, and she was staring right down at the determined, fuzzy culprit. The claws barely even registered; between years of fighting, the muted sensations of fake skin, and the size of the bear… yeah, pain wasn’t even a thing she felt. The bear did seem to be struggling to get a grip on her jeans, though, but was making some progress nonetheless. Caroline bent forward and picked up the cub in both hands. The bear managed to get her teeth around Caroline’s wrist as she was lifted up to eye-height and at arm’s length. Taavi continued to gnaw on Caroline, not drawing any expression from the cyborg, who just tilted her head at the animal. Clearly it wasn’t trying to do damage to her (Not that she could; Caroline’s skin was soft enough for the cub to chew but there was only metal underneath. A serious bite might just end up chipping a tooth), so she felt no urge to move. In fact… she wasn’t sure what to do now. She’d never played with bears before, or any pet for that matter (Besides River’s lazy dog, anyway). “Uh… hello,” she said unsurely. The cub stopped gnawing (but left her jaws locked) on Caroline’s arm, as her head turned slightly to regard the voice. Suddenly, the bear let go with a playful grunt and made a few wiggling swipes with its paws, which missed the unflinching woman’s nose by inches. She turned her head only slightly after this went on for a few seconds, to look at Lelianna with a glance that said ‘Um? What do?’

► "Apparently!" Lelianna answered while playing with the little cub now in her arms. Though the cubs could be a handful- sometimes even more than the adults- she couldn't help but feel horribly fond of them. Protective even, though Lelianna definitely wasn't a bear herself. Besides, their mothers and fathers could very easily take care of the cubs themselves. She was simply trusted enough to be around them, as the cubs at this age were more curious for the floral scented woman than they were trying to hunt.
Lucky her.
Caroline was about to reply when she abruptly stopped. Looking up from (once again) prying the jaws open of the biting cub on her leg, Lelianna closely observed how the cyborg handled the little bear. Not that she thought Caroline was going to purposefully hurt the cub or anything. She couldn't help but be the slightest bit anxious. Her first introduction to a bear hadn't gone so well, after all. Fortunately this was Taavi, not Skjorn the purplette was dealing with. Taavi was a lot less likely to try decapitating the woman. Or even achieving that should the little cub honestly try.
So far though...Caroline looked like she was handling it pretty well. Though she winced only a little as Taavi gave the purplette's arm a few bites, she relaxed when it seemed not to affect Caroline at all. Even smile when the cub greeted her playfully. It was a bear's playful greeting, but still a good sign nonetheless. When Caroline looked over at Lelianna, the redhead laughed a bit. "I think she likes you!" The magi announced happily. "I'm sure the others would too, if you wanted to meet them. Careful though, they may try to wrestle you." Out fot eh corner of her eye she saw the little cub try nomming on her again. With quick hands she caught the little bugger and picked the cub up. "You are just so bitey today!" She scolded, flinching her head back when the cub tried to give her a kiss she knew would have some teeth.
"They might also make you a chewtoy." Lelianna warned as well before ruffling the troublesome cub's face fur. It tried swatting her hands away but the magi was stronger than it right now. While she did that she glanced over towards Caroline again. "You can pet them, honestly. They do love it."

I AM NOT MERCIFUL I AM NOT KIND I AM NOT AFRAID TO MAKE YOU WISH THAT I WAS She raised her brows at Lelianna and turned back to the wriggling cub. Liked her? It seemed like she wanted to claw her face off, more than anything. Tepidly, she stepped over to Lelianna and knelt next to her. Finally, she set Taavi down on the forest floor. No sooner had she done so than the cub sprung right back at her, climbing into her lap and then up her body. Caroline just sat and watched the tiny creature try to scale her torso. “I don’t mind,” she said at the chewtoy comment. “It doesn’t hurt. I’ve never really dealt with animals before, so I am unsure what to do. I don’t think I’ve ever even had a pet.” It wasn’t long before some of the cubs were exploring their new expanded jungle-gym. Caroline just sat there like a statue, eyes wandering all over as bears climbed and chewed on her body. She wasn’t really aware that the cubs were trying to get her to do something and play, like Lelianna did. The cyborg really didn’t have any idea how to engage them, but at Lelianna’s suggestion, she reached out and awkwardly pet Taavi on the head. The bear seemed to appreciate it, as promised, and soon the awkward patting turned into fur stroking and head scratching. Caroline found herself smiling at the bear’s obviously pleased expression, and found the soft fur and rhythmic action to be soothing. Caroline underestimated exactly how much they would love it, as now another cub was trying to wrestle their sister for pets. She put her other hand on them and resolved that problem, but now she was out of arms, and nowhere near out of cubs. No wonder Lelianna seemed to be a bit frazzled.

► Lelianna couldn't help but laugh even as she herself was covered in cub seeing Taavi clamber right back into Caroline's lap. At least she wasn't the only one now! It really was uplifting though to see the cubs take so easily to the purplette. Especially considering she didn't much mind the fact they might try chewing on her now and then. "Well with these little guys, it's sort of like having a bunch of really furry, really big, and really strong little kids I guess. That or puppies. It's...kind of a mix at times." She'd seen some children at Haven and hey, Lelianna was a kid herself once upon a time. They could do the darnedest things sometimes. The cubs weren't really that different.
At some point the cubs started to realize they had a new jungle-gym to explore. They migrated from Lelianna over to Caroline, giving the magi a bit of a break to breathe. While that happened, the redhead couldn't help but watch the cyborg interact with the little bears. It was endearing really, seeing all the cubs so happily wrestle and try to gain the cyborg's attention. Softly a smile grew on her face, warm and fond as she watched the other woman and the cubs interact. Without realizing it flowers once more grew in her recently trimmed hair, forming a blooming wreath around her head.
If this was what having a neighbor would be like she honestly could get used to it and gladly so.
When Caroline started running out of hands the magi laughed and scooted a bit closer to help. Reaching out she pet one of the wiggling cubs, who then moved from Caroline over to the woman with free hands for pats and scratches. "Now you know how I feel, huh?" Lelianna somewhat teased, glancing back at Caroline before down to the cub climbing back into her lab. "These little guys will love anyone willing to give them some attention. Though then they usually end up fighting for it." Example: the little ones semi-wrestling each other on top of the cyborg to get her attention. :But they're adorable, really. One of these times I should introduce you to Bastan and his pack. The puppies are so cute! If the cubs love you, I'm sure the pups will too." Lelianna said as the cub in her lap tried licking her again. This time she just snuggled the little thing, nuzzling into it's fur while giving it's back a few scratches. "You guys and your kisses! I swear I need to bathe after meeting you little fuzzballs."

Notes The cutest Caroline's ever been
I AM NOT MERCIFUL I AM NOT KIND I AM NOT AFRAID TO MAKE YOU WISH THAT I WAS She blinked and turned to Lelianna. The cubs were like… kids? She looked down at the energetic mass of fur and teeth. Kids. She may not be familiar with animals, but being an aunt was the one thing she did right over the last few years. The metaphorical light bulb went off in her head, and the statue stirred. With a playful grin, she leaned forward and pushed Taavi onto her back, arms on either side of the cub’s belly. She scratched and rubbed the bear wildly, matching the bear’s grunts with her own mocking, lighthearted growls. Taavi wriggled and writhed against the ground, until another cub jumped on Caroline’s back. She tilted her body to the left and the cub lost its grip. Now in reach, the fuzzy child was scooped up under one of Caroline’s arms and given a playful noogie on the head. Well, now she did it. If they weren’t riled up before, they were now. Bears jumped all over, climbed, and gnawed, and the cyborg wrestled them in return (making sure to keep her inhuman strength in check all the while). There were headlocks, rolls, pins… all the same things one might expect of a parent playing with children. The change in Caroline, too, was obvious. She openly laughed, smiled, growled with the bears, and taunted them. She was comfortable here, clearly not a first-timer in this sort of situation. She was too focused on being taken down by bears to dwell on it, but it was a rare moment where she felt entirely human. Not wanting to take ALL the fun from the magi, Caroline was quick to share her bear bounty… mostly by placing cubs on her head, or in her lap, or openly encouraging the bears to “go get her!” (Though twice when she tried to encourage this, she got her own mouthful of bear kiss, which sent her sputtering into a laugh). The other benefit of being a cyborg? The cubs and Lelianna would tire long, long before she did. And Caroline had no intention of letting them “win.”

► That seemed to do the trick.
Like flipping a switch Caroline seemed to get it. The cubs were all over her now, riled up to the extreme by this newcomer who clearly loved to play! Lelianna, on her part, watched on with equal parts amazement and joy. it was wonderful to see her neighbor in such high spirits obviously. Maybe she really would get along with Skjorn when the grumpy big bear gave her another chance. Might take a bit of convincing, but Lelianna could see it. Carline was handling the cubs so well; it simply had to transfer over given time.
The magi didn't mind at all as Caroline garnered most of the cub's attention. She put up no fight when the cub in her lap went scrambling away to join in the fun with the cyborg. It only gave the redhead some more time to breath and observe the antics of her cyborg and bear companions. It was so...so...cute! Lelianna definitely heard herself let out a coo once or twice just at the sight. However Caroline didn't want to leave the redhead completely out of it. A few times the cyborg would plop one of the cubs down on her head or into her lap, which were always met with playful protests from the magi herself. At one point though she finally gave up and joined in on the rough-housing again, feeling her energy return for a while so she could play just as much. It was honestly the most fun she'd had in a while. Especially when she could laugh at Caroline for getting the same kiss treatment she had gotten (although one of the times she laughed she too got a mouthful of bear kiss).
Eventually they did tire out and Lelianna just flopped on the ground, officially and completely spent. "Mercy." She begged, breathing hard as she half-heartedly raised a hand in surrender. It flopped back down to the ground with a thud. The cubs were in similar states, some of them plopping down wherever they had been while some used the defeated magi as a pillow. To her credit the magi had actually lasted a while. However she was still only flesh and blood. "Jeez...you can go forever...huh?" She huffed, glancing over at Caroline with a little laugh. "Next time...I'm putting you...on babysitting duty...ugh..."

Notes If only she was good at innuendo! "You can go forever" was a perfect setup
I AM NOT MERCIFUL I AM NOT KIND I AM NOT AFRAID TO MAKE YOU WISH THAT I WAS She had a legitimately fun time playing with the bears, wrestling and roaring and giving plenty of belly rubs. Of course they weren’t actual children, but they definitely behaved like them, and soon Caroline felt comfortable around them. They seemed to take to her, too, which was an unusual feeling. Most people, children, and even animals seemed to avoid her before. With each day spent in the woods, those times felt like distant memories, mingled along the other ones she was discovering every day. Before she knew it, the bears and babysitter were both tuckered out and in various stages of lying around and napping. How long had they been playing, hours? It was hard to tell. Taavi found a cozy spot in the cyborg’s lap, and was fast asleep under Caroline’s hand as she gently stroked the bear’s head. She hummed a laugh at Lelianna. “I guess that’s one of the advantages of this body,” she admitted. She looked down at Taavi, and then over to the other bear cubs. “I wouldn’t mind. I haven’t been around kids since…” She stopped mid-sentence. Even her hand went still on Taavi’s head. She closed her eye and sighed. Gods, how were they doing? Did they hate her? Would she ever see them again? Thoughts like that planted seeds of doubt in her mind; had she done the right thing? Slowly, she pet Taavi once more. Maybe it was the right thing, maybe it wasn’t; it didn’t matter, because it was the necessary thing. “Well, for a little while now. It’s nice to play like this again.” She opened her eyes and forced a smile, but it felt… uncomfortable. After a short silence, she decided to change the subject. “You’re in very good shape to last as long as you did. You must babysit often, hm? Or else gardening is more of a workout than I thought.”

► Caroline had taken to the cubs like a natural. It was heartening, really. And so cute to see Taavi asleep in her lap! However there was a moment that marred that cuteness. Caroline abruptly paused mid-sentence. She looked distressed. Enough that Lelianna frowned and forced herself to sit up despite still being winded. Was Caroline alright? She'd even paused petting Taavi. Concern etched itself on the magi's features while she waited for Caroline to open her eyes again. When she did that smile was...painfully forced. Even the redhead could see that. Her worry only grew worse. She almost wanted to ask if the purplette was alright.
Yet before she could get the question to leave her lips the other woman changed the subject. Lelianna had hesitated too long. Would it have been alright to ask? Or would that have been prying? Unsure, Lelianna decided to let it go. However the worry did not leave her expression for some time. "I...Thank you. Um...I do usually spend ah...a lot of time with the animals. Especially these little guys." She gently pet one of the cubs that had chosen to use her as a pillow. The action was soothing. Helped her compose herself a little again. She still was a bit distressed that Caroline had looked upset, but she didn't want to probe into what could be a personal subject.
Lelianna could understand something like that quite easily.
"But ah...gardening isn't such a huge workout." She promised, keeping her gaze on the cub. "I just have...other 'duties' I guess you could say. I travel around Arecia a lot to help it wherever it needs me. All that walking does wonders for your endurance, lemme tell you." The little joke served to ease the redhead's spirits somewhat as she chuckled. Since they were on the topic too now, she figured she should answer the question that usually followed. "I'm able to sense what the plantlife around me is, ah, 'feeling,' like I've told you. Sometimes it directs me somewhere it needs my help to deal with a problem. Sometimes it's close. Sometimes it's far. It ranges for a lot of things really. It also doesn't always care whether it's in the middle of the day or the middle of the night either." This she said with a glare towards one of the trees. Which convincingly just stood there innocently.
It knows what it did.
"I wouldn't call myself Arecia's ah...'babysitter' though." Lelianna said coming off of her glare to look back at Caroline. Worry was still swirling in green, but faint now. Subtle even, if the magi could ever have achieved such a thing. "It would probably drop things on my head for weeks if I tried saying that!" The magi could laugh at that at least.
Even if she was being serious.

Notes Fun times ruined by lame thoughts. Though if you want to continue with anything, by all means keep going! Otherwise I guess we can wrap up soon.
I AM NOT MERCIFUL I AM NOT KIND I AM NOT AFRAID TO MAKE YOU WISH THAT I WAS She didn’t recognize Lelianna’s look as concern. She instead focused on petting the bear cub in her lap, and smiling down at the sleeping animal. Just like kids was right; they were completely different when they were asleep. They had two settings: “Go” and “Stop.” Taavi was so tuckered out that she didn’t even shift in her sleep. She listened to Lelianna’s explanation. At this point, it didn’t surprise her that the magi was connected to the forest, and she began to suspect that her relationship with Arecia was beyond even what most magi could ever have. She was special, there was no doubt about that. “That’s a lot of responsibility,” Caroline said. “The forest is very large. It seems to have chosen the correct caretaker, though; you have the skill and the heart to tend to its troubles. If only I could sense things like that, the forest would be much safer for many.” Many meaning magi. If she could sense hunters, there’d be a lot less of them, that much was certain. They expected a hunt, not to be hunted. It would be amusing to Caroline to see them put in that ironic position, if she ever let them live long enough to savor it. She glanced at Lelianna for a moment, and then back down to Taavi. Caroline was almost certain she felt a tinge of jealousy, too. Lelianna did so much good for the forest, the animals… and especially her. She wished she had the skills to help, instead of being literally made to do the opposite. She exhaled a short laugh. “I don’t suppose you know what Arecia thinks of me? I don’t think it likes me very much.” It was a joke, as well as a reflection. The only times she’d been in the woods before was to kill, and she was certainly responsible for plenty of plantlife destruction during her fights. She sighed. She’d never added a single good thing to this world, had she? She gently stroked Taavi’s soft fur. It was comforting to feel the soft fuzz, even if it was faint through her synthskin. “Perhaps I should go soak up some sun while I can,” she said finally. “I’m not sure the mother bears will like seeing me with their children, either.” She didn’t stop or stand, though. She didn’t exactly want to go, but at the same time… she wanted some more time to think. There never seemed to be enough time in the day to sift through her thoughts and feelings, and she wondered if it would take her until her death to finally extract all the memories from her brain.

► Now that compliment actually stuck to the magi. "It seems to have chosen the correct caretaker, though; you have the skill and the heart to tend to its troubles." A furious blush rose up into her cheeks. It didn't help that the sensation in the back of her head seemed to pulse almost as if in agreement."Th...T-Thank you." The magi said quietly, feeling awfully shy all of a sudden. Not just from Caroline, but the very woods that surrounded them. She was far too happy to serve the woods in whatever way she could.
After all it had saved her.
She didn't linger on it long though. Nothing good about getting a big head! Besides, the redhead was sure that there were plenty of other magi that could have taken her place, given time. That and there was...something sad about Caroline. There was still so much the magi didn't know about her neighbor, but the redhead was sensing...something. What was it? She had no idea. She still wasn't very good at reading people and this time was no different. Yet the concern that had simmered down somewhat still clung to her. It flared a bit when Caroline made her joke. Just...something felt a little off for her.
So she actually did ask.
Shutting her eyes, Lelianna went silent for a little while. Let her focus turn inward to that gentle hum always lingering in her skull. Did the forest like Caroline? Only one plant had ever answered her with words. She sincerely doubted she would get any now. But what she could get were feelings. Sensations. It was a mixed jumble at first but eventually the feeling started to drift towards a general direction. When she opened her eyes again she had an answer more or less. "Arecia...Doesn't quite know what to make of you yet. A-At least...that's what it feels like." The magi replied honestly, hoping to the gods she was getting this right. It was the first time she'd ever actively inquired into how the plantlife surrounding her felt. Usually if it had a strong opinion, the magi could feel it. "But...it doesn't dislike you. Overall I think it's feelings are...generally positive about you. Which is definitely good! And...honestly it's more than I can say for a lot of people."
Offering Caroline a hopefully kind smile, the magi hesitated but a moment before reaching out to lightly pat the other woman on the shoulder. "You're...You're a very sweet person Caro. I'm sure it'll come to like you in no time." Frankly? Lelianna really believed that was true. All the cyborg had been was kind since Lelianna first met her. Sure there was the issue with their introduction but after that? Caroline seemed to have a real appreciation and awe for nature. Arecia was sure to notice something like that, right? "And hey, I think you're pretty great. You've only been nice to me so...I'll vouch for you too." The redhead promised. "Plus...no one's ever asked me to teach them to garden before! And I don't think I've ever shown anyone the flower field before too...Right?" There was a pause as Lelianna tried to remember. She was pretty certain Caroline was the first. "Yeah...yeah you're the first."
Only then realizing her hand was still there, the magi dropped it and blushed a bit again. "U-Um....yeah...A-Anyways-" However at the point a grunt drew her gaze up. Only this wasn't the grunt of a tiny little cub. Green eyes landed on a big burly mama bear, fur soaked and dark eyes staring right at Caroline. Lelianna was quick to act. "Don't move." She whispered warningly to the cyborg as she gently deposited the sleeping cub off herself and stood. Carefully and gradually she made her way to the tense mother and talked to it soothingly, giving it's fur a few strokes and scratches. She didn't want a repeat of Skjorn. A good sign was that the mama hadn't immediately attacked Caroline on sight. That meant she didn't perceive the cyborg as a full threat yet. Eventually Lelianna felt the big bear relax enough that things felt controlled for now. Still, she didn't want things to escalate. In the softest way possible but still loud enough (hopefully) for Caroline to hear, the magi called out: "Could you wake up Taavi and send her over here? This mama's hers."

Notes Luca please come here and help these idiots figure out what feelings are
I AM NOT MERCIFUL I AM NOT KIND I AM NOT AFRAID TO MAKE YOU WISH THAT I WAS She smiled at Lelianna’s blush, and watched her flowery hair bloom to match, but thought nothing of it; she was just a lovely woman who wasn’t used to honest compliments, and clearly that was all. While Caroline hadn’t met many people on friendly terms, something about Lelianna clicked with the woods, like she belong here, and was a part of it; who else to better care for it? It was like it was taking care of itself through her. She raised then furrowed her brows at Lelianna’s unexpected assessment. She… really did ask? She looked over at the magi, her face betraying her confusion. “Positive?” She looked back down at Taavi and gave a short, amused ‘heh,” then shook her head slowly. “Maybe it’s not being entirely honest with you.” Or maybe the forest was better at forgiveness than humans. She raised her head at the unexpected contact on her shoulder, and slowly turned to look at Lelianna. Her genuine happiness and confidence in her statements triggered her own blush, but all she could do was sit there silently and consider her words. It was a very… complex moment, emotionally speaking. Lelianna believed in her, and thought positively of her… but at the same time… if she knew who she was, and what she did, would she still feel the same way? It felt… almost like she was deceiving the poor magi, who believed Caroline was nothing but good, when, in her own opinion, she was anything but. Even just looking at her, Caroline felt a whirlwind of emotions. She cared for Lelianna deeply, despite not knowing her for long, but also felt like she didn’t really deserve such a kind person in her life. If that implant was still in… gods, she would have killed her. That caused a feeling in her chest that she could only describe as a black hole. She would have killed Lelianna with her own two hands, and would sleep soundly at night, while animals mourned the loss of their friend and the beautiful garden withered without her caring touch. She closed her eye tight and turned away. Never had such a thought hit her like this. It was strange; how could one person give her the most elated feelings in one moment, and then the darkest ones in the next? What did that mean? Caroline actually had to take breaths to calm herself. “Sorry,” she said. “You’re too kind to me. I’m… honored, really. But I don’t deserve it. I’m not-“ The grunt stopped her, and she opened her eye. That was all she did; her body stilled at Lelianna’s whispered command. She sat motionless as she worked her magic on the bear. Her eye drift downwards to the sleeping cub at Lelianna’s command. She increased the speed of her petting until it was a gentle shake, and slowly (and with a big, adorable yawn), Taavi opened her eyes. “Wake up, momma’s here,” she whispered to the cub. She kept her body still otherwise; the last thing she wanted to do was suplex another charging bear; their weight was at the limit of what she could handle, and she definitely didn’t want to hurt momma bear in front of her child.

► The forest not being honest? Lelianna could crack a bit of a smile at that. "It's been...playful with me before. Downright annoying some other times." There was a pointed glare at a nearby tree. Which retained it's poker face quite well before Lelianna looked back. "But...It's never lied to me." It wasn't so much that Lelianna thought the trees didn't understand the concept of lying. It was just...what use did a plant have with that? It wasn't a humanoid being. None of the plants were (barring plant Spirits, should they exist). Lies simply didn't matter.
Although the woods could hold many, many secrets.
Again; that concern. What was it bothering her friend so badly? Lelianna normally wasn't one to pry, but seeing the purplette look so...so...conflicted and pained just made her heart ache in sympathy. What was wrong? What was bothering her? Lelianna might not be the best in these situations but hell she wanted to do...something that could reassure the other girl. Because oh those words hurt to hear. Not deserve the magi's kindness? How in the world could she say that? Lelianna sincerely doubted someone who'd play so well with a pack of baby cubs- who'd almost instantly taken to her- would be that much of a bad person.
Yet before Lelianna could say anything, the mama bear came into the picture. The hermit said nothing in response to Caroline's statement but she certainly hadn't forgotten what she'd say. That could be something to bring up another time, maybe. Because frankly the magi felt terrible seeing her friend obviously upset by some inner thing. Was it something she had done? Lelianna couldn't be sure...but maybe she'd be able to find out eventually.
When Taavi awoke and stretched out the first thing she did was lick the face of the woman currently holding her. But a grunt from mama bear soon drew the little cub's attention. In a scramble the little furball bounded out of Caroline's lap and over to her mother. The last of the tension in the mama bear's body seemed to fade, so Lelianna left her side with a gentle pat to return by Caroline's. She offered a hand up to the woman along with a small smile. "You said you were heading towards the flower fields originally, right? Mind if I join you? These guys tend to wear me out." She admitted with a glance down at some of the still dozing cubs. "Sometimes they're even worse than Skjorn, I swear." Though she joked there was still that lingering sense of apprehension for the other woman.
But addressing that when other mama bears might show up probably wasn't the best time.
