[attr="class","oho"] don't even know what i'm fighting for just know i can't stop fighting. [attr="class","monalisa"]Orion lifted his eyebrows a touch when she repeated his words back incorrectly, but he didn't have time to refute saying it before she was pulling him by his scalp. He drew a sharp breath at the pain, but managed not to make another sound, looking up at her cold blue eyes with his own. It went against every instinct to endure this kind of treatment without rebuttal, but this was Kalidas. It didn't matter whether he struggled or not, if she really wanted to kill him. If she didn't, struggling might just change her mind. So he stayed still, gritting his teeth against the increasing pressure on his neck and scalp as she spoke. Her fangs were inches from his face, showing her anger.
He didn't know what she was angry about, really. He hadn't said what she'd implied that he had. He hadn't even thought it. He wasn't stupid enough to think he could fight a goddess and win. Her fang touched his jugular, and he was as still as he could be. There was no incentive for him to go to the University with this. After what they'd done to his mother, he wouldn't have spit on the building if it was on fire. So why was she acting this way? Did she really hate Arithelia so much? He was in the middle of contemplating it when she suddenly dropped him, and he had to catch himself to keep from spilling clumsily to the floor. The unexpected landing made his knee hurt.
But he didn't get back up. He waited for Kalidas to finish her rant, still looking up at her as he settled into the same position he'd been in when she'd arrived. It didn't take long to catch his breath, although his heart was still racing from the danger of the last few minutes. He couldn't relax in Kalidas's presence. He would have been shocked if anyone could have. But at least he wasn't a pathetic heap of sobs and terror, like most probably would have been. His eyes were hard as he looked at her, knowing that she expected more of her Hunters than that.
"It will be done as you ask," he said, his voice as normal as he could make it.

“ The Righteous Side of Hell." It took every ounce of pure will that Daniel could muster not to fly to Orion’s aid. He’d heard stories of Kalidas’s strange shifts in mood and the terrible wrath that they would often bring in their wake, but to see it firsthand was something else entirely. The scarred, old wolf fought down his instinct to fight in the face of danger because doing so would most assuredly mean his demise. So, it was with nothing short of a herculean effort that Daniel ignored his raised hackles and remained still. It took the same effort to remain calm when the goddess directed her attention his way and allowed Orion to drop to the floor. The pup had scarcely landed before Kalidas turned her attention upon him as well.
Daniel just barely managed to suppress the grow he felt rising in his chest as he met the Huntresses gaze, heedless of the claws inches from his throat. There was no defiance in his eyes; only the same cold, hard determination he’d displayed in his many years of service to the goddess.
And then, just as quickly as it had arisen, Kalidas’s anger fled from Her face and form to be replaced with a softer one. He bowed his head as She finished her preening. “We will not fail you, Huntress. When we find Arithelia, she’ll be kept safe.” His head rose so that he could cast a pointed stare in Orion’s direction. “And anyone thinkin’ they’ll defy You will answer to us.”

Her gaze never left her two hunters as she finally retreated from the humans. She took her place near her statue to merely rest against it with crossed arms. It seemed her point has been made as well as her orders loud and clear. She would have nothing to worry about---she hoped. Giving them a small nod she "smiled" at the two of them.
"Very good." She said nothing else for a good moment before finally pushing herself away from the statue. A single clawed hand followed the build as she rounded behind it, completely disappearing from view. "Keep an eye out for anything strange. My fellow Goddess will be quite fun to locate. I will look forward to any news you find about her..."
The Goddess would not appear before them again for this meeting but her voice would remain clear as a bell to them. "I will also be keeping an eye on you two. I expect results with you training the new pups as well as plenty of Spirits hunted in my name." With that, the Goddess was gone as her business with them had officially ended in her eyes. Any questions the two held would be answered in another form that would not require her direct pressense.
Upon leaving the two hunters would receive a new blessing from the Goddess. The ability to sense spirits.

[attr="class","oho"] don't even know what i'm fighting for just know i can't stop fighting. [attr="class","monalisa"]Orion was silent for a couple of heartbeats after Kalidas vanished, and he glanced over at Daniel. The slightest of smiles played around his lips, though he still felt a little breathless. He always felt a little lightheaded after he encountered Kalidas directly, but this reminded him of the last time, when she'd given him new abilities. Maybe she had. He was mostly just grateful to be alive. Maybe that was all that the lightheaded feeling was. Just pure giddiness to be still breathing.
"It's always an experience, isn't it?" he said. "Meeting the Goddess."
Pushing to his feet, he looked at his hand and was alarmed to see that it was shaking. The adrenaline hadn't yet worn off, and yet it had been a while since he'd felt so unsettled by it. Their job was defined by the adrenaline rush of the hunt, and shaking was the quickest way to screw up his own aim, or making him drop his weapon. Then again, it wasn't often that he ran into anyone nearly as deadly as the goddess. He shook his hand a couple of times before closing it into a fist and looking up at Daniel. Hopefully, the older hunter wouldn't judge him for that moment of weakness.
The old wolf had taught him with guns a couple of times, but it seemed that they would be working together more closely in the future. The thought was one that pleased him, considering how experienced Daniel was. It was better to be paired with someone who knew what they were doing. He was less likely to get killed that way. Especially when they had a task as dangerous as the one they were now embarking upon. Not only would they be hunting Spirits, but they would both be looking for a goddess.
"Oh, and welcome back," he finally said, his smile more genuine this time. "Glad to be working with you."

“ The Righteous Side of Hell." “Heh, that’s one way of puttin’ it, kid,” Daniel managed. Truthfully, there’d been a few moments when he wasn’t entirely sure he was going to survive the experience. He thought that he might have become accustomed to it by now given his line of work, but there was always something about being in the presence of a god that was unsettling and each one was unique in their own ways. It was the closest he’d ever felt to being trapped in a cage with no hope of escape; he certainly didn’t enjoy the sensation in the slightest. Adding to his distaste was the fact that he was now sworn to the service of two separate deities: fueling Kupeic’s apparent lust for human flesh and Kalidas’s demand that he find a fallen goddess. At the very least, he shared the burden of one task with someone that he considered capable and he wasn’t about to reject that small victory.
“Thanks, kid,” he added. “Bein’ back with the Guild… It feels right. Hard enough doin’ this thing solo, but now we might stand a chance again, huh.” He gave his best effort at a grin but the expression quickly became a somber one. The task set before them was a dangerous one bordering on impossible and Daniel wasn’t entirely sure they would be up to the task. Hunting spirits and magi was just another day in the life of a Hunter, but hunting a goddess? That was something else entirely.
His breathing hitched painfully when he sighed at the thought. “Come on. We’ve got work ta do.”
