[attr="class","biggie"] [attr="class","textie"] HOPE'S BEACON ((Note: This starts in Camlorn and only involves Elijah for now))She was light on the details when she called Elijah late last night. If she had told him that she found Stella, he would be urging her to move immediately, but she needed time to plan, and to recuperate. It had been a long few days; she stayed up to meet Arithelia, then drove to Camlorn the next day to visit her father and Elijah… and then back to Dagos, and now back to Camlorn. That was not a small amount of driving and between exhaustion and a burst of information… her mind was at its limits. Still, even in the small hotel room, she worked with Orbweaver to figure out the barn’s location. She didn’t have a lot of intel leading into the woods, but she had a sneaking suspicion that Stella was in or near Haven. And she needed Elijah to get there. She managed to sleep for two hours before the sun’s rise. Groggily, she packed her things and hit up a nearby convenience store for more energy drinks than a person should consume in a week, and a few snacks. It was going to be a long day, but hopefully a good one. She sat with a cigarette and an energy drink on the hood of her car, parked on the cemetery road by their normal meeting spot. With a groan, she rubbed her eyes with the sleeve of her hoodie. Gods, what she wouldn’t give for a normal few weeks, where she could sit in her bunker on her own sleep schedule and do good work. It was worth it, of course, but the only thing worse than being out of her bunker was being out of her bunker at the asscrack of dawn. At least spring was coming; the morning air was cool, calm, and with only sparse clouds to cover the orange-tinted sky. Birds chirped their first songs of the day against the eerie stillness of a world still asleep. Elijah probably had some idea that she found a lead; after all, it was just yesterday that he gave her the ring. She pat her hoodie’s pocket to ensure that it was still there. What he probably didn’t expect was that Maevia knew where she was, what she looked like, and everything else they’d been trying to gather for years. She exhaled a puff of sweet-smelling smoke and cast a glance sideways towards her father’s gravestone. He’d probably be frowning at her “wimpy” cigarettes but smirking at the middle finger she tossed towards the grave, all with a smile of her own. She missed the old man. With a yawn, Maevia extinguished the almost-finished cig on her cybernetic arm and flicked it to the side. Stella probably missed her dad, too. At least she could get hers back. The thought came with happiness, not sorrow or jealousy. Suddenly, the morning didn’t seem so bad. “Come on,” she called to Elijah whenever she spotted him. That was it. Normally she’d follow up with a joke or jab, but honestly? She had a lot to keep on her mind regarding Stella. She hopped off the hood and gave Elijah a hug when he got to her; THAT was not optional, she knew. “Elijah,” she said, softly. Once she dropped back from the hug, she took his large, rough hand and gently placed the ring in his palm. “As promised.” She wasn’t one to delay, and there was no doubt he was full of anticipation. “Elijah, clear your plans for the day” she said. She closed his fingers around the ring and placed her hand on top of his. Even if he couldn’t see, she looked him dead in the eyes. “I’ve found her.” ===== Tags: Elijah Kingsley Notes: Let me know for edits. No rush, just wanted it out there. Only tagging Elijah for now, figure it will take a few posts (Getting to Haven, talking about Stella on the way, etc). You can't say that sentence lightly Nothin' else seems to hurt like the smile on your face The phone call was vague but direct. His niece was not a foolish girl. Maevia wasn't one to interrupt his work lightly. The two had a respectable understanding of each other at least in those vaguest terms. They were both business oriented in their own rights. Pulling one away from their work with little to no prior warning was not to be done without dire need.
But he had an inkling as to the subject of this call. It had only been the day before that he had handed over one of his most precious possessions. The chain about his neck had felt lighter with just his deceased wife's ring hanging from it. Elijah of course knew this was all in his head but the hollowness in his chest had only seemed to grow with its absence. A sucking empty feeling caused by the temporary separation from the only physical belonging he had left of his lost daughter. Stella. The man's feet walked swifter than they usually did. The earth magi's travels to Camlorn had passed by in a record's time.
At the sound of his name being called out it somehow had a magnetic pull on him. Not sensing any of the town's citizens out and about this early in the day Elijah took off at a dead sprint. The grass beneath his shoes were still fresh with dew, each stride leaving droplets of water behind. The earth's vibrations guided him precisely. Knowing exactly where tombstones lay Elijah expertly jumped over every one that stood between him and Maevia. With the white cane clutched in one hand the man didn't slow down until he was being met with a hug.
"Maevia ..." He'd reply into the young woman's shoulder. Breathing was becoming difficult and not because of the recent run. She wanted to meet in person. His arms were trembling ever so slightly. What had she found out? Finally releasing the cyborg Elijah only experienced a certain amount of alleviating relief. He had been convinced that reobtaining his daughter's ring would heal the hollowness that had grown further since yesterday. But now with it being pressed into his hand he could only help but feel partially whole. "Thank you." The man said as he gripped the ring tighter.
Horrendoulsy scarred eyes blinked at the instruction. He was a leader of a movement, she knew this. Elijah couldn't just up and walk away from it all with no warning--
...............
.......................
................................
"... what?" The question was barely audible. The lightest breeze would have covered it up. The constant focus to allow him to see the world around him was dropped immediately, leaving him in true darkness. Nothingness. Vibrations through the earth were ignored as Elijah's brain slowly comprehended what he'd just heard. "S-you...?"
Words became difficult to form. Breath wasn't entering his body. The fist Maevia held began trembling. "You found my St- ...?" Elijah gasped in an inhale as his lungs burned with a struggling. "You found my Stella?" The earth magi's free hand blindly moved to tightly grip his niece's. "Stella. Stella? My Stella? You found my Stella?" Obviously in his right state of mind the man would never wish pain upon the other but his grip only tightened as his brain smoked, thoroughly set aflame by the simple previous sentence. when it's only in my memory Minnie of GS

[attr="class","biggie"] [attr="class","textie"] GUIDING LIGHT Seeing such a soft side of Elijah was… unnatural. He had it in him, but the man was as stone-faced as the earth he commanded unless he was laughing at something he and Maevia’s dad got up to “back in the day.” She was taken aback, as if she had broken him. Obviously she had no idea what he was feeling, having no kids of her own, but given how much work they put into her search… She held his trembling hand firmly. She winced at the tightening grip. Tough it out, Mae, tough it out. Despite the deathgrip on her hand, she continued to smile. “I did,” she said. “Careful, that’s not my metal hand.” The words were meant to be a joke, but she found herself choking up saying it. Gosh, it was so strange to be so close to someone during their most emotional moments. It was infectious, in a way. Her cybernetic hand gripped his arm tight. “You’re not dreaming,” she reassured him. “I found Stella. Your Stella. I… I can hardly believe it myself. Don’t ask me to explain what happened, because you know I couldn’t even begin to understand magic.” And because you’d never believe me if I said Arithelia Herself was responsible she added mentally. “She’s alive. I know where she is. I know what she looks like.” Okay, now she had to crack a joke; the high spirits were too infectious. “She’s beautiful; must take more after her mom than you, huh old man?” She laughed and hugged him again. “I can take you to her. But she’s close to Haven, probably even in Haven by now. You’ll need to take me there.” That was the catch. The tall order. Bring the information broker to Haven. Trust her not to disclose its location for her job. Of course she wouldn’t, but… No doubt the thought would play in his mind. Rightfully so, of course. But she was the only one who knew what Stella looked like now, and so she was the only one who stood a chance at reuniting them. He would agree. Maybe he would hesitate, but there was no doubt he’d do whatever it took to have Stella back. She didn’t know the way- hopefully she could go by car most of the way. If not, well, ah… Ugh, the things she did for him. Maybe he’d carry her? “Ready to go when you are,” she said. No doubt he’d have plenty of questions on the way. She shuddered at having to tell him the bad news in all of this. ===== Tags: Elijah Kingsley Notes: Never an inappropriate time for Terry-like jokes [attr="class","iconie"] [newclass=.biggie]-webkit-transitionduration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover]margin-left:-300px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie]opacity:0;margin-top:-425px;margin-bottom:150px;width:285px;height:400px;padding:10px;background-color:#000000;border:solid 1px #000000;color:#e4e0e0;text-align:justify;overflow:auto;margin-left:10px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;font:11px calibri;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .textie]opacity:1;margin-left:610px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie::-webkit-scrollbar]width:10px;background:#000000;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background:#9589a0;border:2px solid #e4e0e0;[/newclass] [newclass=.iconie]opacity:0;margin-top:-240px;margin-left:-220px;margin-bottom:50px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .iconie]opacity:1;[/newclass] [newclass=.tagsie]opacity:0;font:11px calibri;color:#b7b7b7;margin-top:-75px;margin-left:-75px;margin-bottom:40px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .tagsie]opacity:1;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass]

You can't say that sentence lightly Nothin' else seems to hurt like the smile on your face The heavily scarred eyes blinked. It was a strange sensation. A fascinating phenomena. With but a few mere verbalized words the man felt as if he'd been dropped into the dead of space. Stillness. Cold. Shock. That was the big one. Elijah had been dropped into an ocean of nothingness, leaving him too paralyzed to attempt to right himself. There was no world anymore. There was no ground, no sky, no wind, no sound. There was no war, no other responsibilities. No one and nothing else. His little girl was found.
"... huh?" Elijah asked quietly as his brain continued to crank and struggle in turning cogs. "--oh. Oh! Sorry!" The man withdrew the hand that had gripped the young lady so. "Sorry, I'm ...." at a loss for words. Grappling to understand the entirety of the weight the simple sentence had unleashed upon his mind.
This wasn't a dream, the other reassured him.
It wasn't a shallow grave or ashen remains. The man gasped again. "She's ali--? ...." Tears burned his clouded eyes. The emotion his niece never bothered showing could be heard in her delivery of the news. Emotional was a word that barely scratched the surface of intensity of the experience. His little girl had not only been found but she was alive.
"Hah!" Elijah choked a laugh. "She did, yeah. They were both so --" The man's top lip twitched at a delayed realization. "They both are very beautiful." When had that started? A few years ago? Months ago? Weeks? The back of his brain slowly changing tenses as if Stella were already deceased. When had that begun? Though the mind wouldn't focus on such a question for very long. It was no longer relevent. The second hug was received whole heartedly, lifting the cyborg onto the tips of her toes momentarily. However,
Elijah's brows furrowed as he pulled away. "Haven?"
The earth magi would listen intently to whatever his niece had to say. If there was anything to be said. It wasn't a gut feeling, it wasn't instinct persay. He trusted Maevia. But the location seemed quite the oddity. Elijah was one of the biggest figures within the Magi refugee city. He had a pretty damn good idea on who came and went within its borders. Gods sakes, it was the same city he lived in. How could his daughter be within its forested walls?
"You wouldn't ... use this to get in, right?" The question came very softly and very half heartedly. Elijah already knew the answer. This was Terry's daughter. Yes, she was an information broker but he'd have told her dates regarding terrorist attacks before for her own safety and nothing had ever come from that. "This isn't just about me. This is about my people." Upon hearing the young lady's answer, regardless if it was lengthy or one word Elijah wouldn't hesitate. Focusing once again upon the earth underfoot he'd walk his way to the vehicle and begin feeling for a handle. "Where we're going, this will only take us a certain distance." He'd say with a knowing grin. when it's only in my memory Minnie of GS

[attr="class","biggie"] [attr="class","textie"] BE CAREFUL OF SHADOWS Maevia grimaced and shook her hand and curled her fingers, making sure all the joints and bones were intact after Elijah’s deathgrip. She noted, too, his change of tense. He never gave up hope, she knew, but… he wasn’t an ignorant man. Happy endings were a rarity for magi. “She’s alive, yes,” she confirmed. Hah, the joy on his face was one she’d never seen before. A weight lifted off both of them. And then, of course, came the catch. She only nodded, even if he couldn’t see it. “Haven,” she said. “Though I believe she was living in Dagos, at least lately; that’s where her current caretaker comes from. This may be her first visit.” Her own disbelief was evident, too; just like Elijah knew Haven, Maevia knew Dagos; if she was there the whole time… Well, it’s not like she had a picture or even description to go on, not a current one, and there were… many magi in the slums that she didn’t know. Maybe she should rectify that. “Knowing Luca, her probably took her here to get her away from Dagos.” She wasn’t offended by his question. “No,” she stated simply. She was many things, but not a liar. “I wouldn’t ask you to take me if it wasn’t necessary.” She put a gentle hand on his upper arm. “I know the stakes for your people, Elijah. I’m not going to condemn you all to death for my ambition. This information isn’t on the market.” She pat him on the arm and kept her mouth shut from making a joke about it being bad for business. She winced as she got into the driver’s seat. “Couldn’t be that easy, huh? You know I’m not the outdoorsy type.” She turned the engine on, though you wouldn’t know it for how quiet it was. She chugged the last of her energy drink and tossed it in the backseat, where it clinked with countless others. With a pop, she opened a new one. “Time for the blind to lead the blind, huh? Just tell me where to go, old man.” ===== Tags: Elijah Kingsley Notes: you can fast forward the driving part as much as you'd like, along with whatever he'd talk about [attr="class","iconie"] [newclass=.biggie]-webkit-transitionduration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover]margin-left:-300px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie]opacity:0;margin-top:-425px;margin-bottom:150px;width:285px;height:400px;padding:10px;background-color:#000000;border:solid 1px #000000;color:#e4e0e0;text-align:justify;overflow:auto;margin-left:10px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;font:11px calibri;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .textie]opacity:1;margin-left:610px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie::-webkit-scrollbar]width:10px;background:#000000;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background:#9589a0;border:2px solid #e4e0e0;[/newclass] [newclass=.iconie]opacity:0;margin-top:-240px;margin-left:-220px;margin-bottom:50px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .iconie]opacity:1;[/newclass] [newclass=.tagsie]opacity:0;font:11px calibri;color:#b7b7b7;margin-top:-75px;margin-left:-75px;margin-bottom:40px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .tagsie]opacity:1;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass]

So piggy back ride is insinuated it was a long enough post without having to specify that XD Nothin' else seems to hurt like the smile on your face The drive overall was a lengthily quiet one and there were mutliple contributing factors towards this. For one, Elijah didn't often find himself in foreign cars. Yes, for his field of work he'd had to travel through multiple means. Train, bus, car. But when the earth magi wasn't forced to for the sake time efficiency, Elijah stayed away from the contraptions. At the speeds of travel it was near impossible to "see".
Keeping up with how quickly the landscape was zooming by was headache inducing so it was honestly best to not even attempt. So not only did the car ride leave him with the unpleasant experience of truly being blind but it also placed Elijah's safety entirely in another hands. It didn't matter if it was Maevia or a high ranking MLM member, it wasn't a position Elijah liked being in.
The car would occasionally bump on the imperfect roads as they continued their way towards the hidden city. But then of course there were the other factors for the silence between the two. After brief but concise instructions on which direction to drive and what landmarks to pass, Elijah leaned back and took the time to collect not only his thoughts but catch his breath ....
.... Yeah, small talk was just not happening right now. It was impossible to discuss the weather or recent small happenings in their lives. At least from his side conversationally. With something so tremendously impactful waiting upon the end of this lengthy traveling, it was impossible. Elijah's mind traveled everywhere but the present moment as the car continued on. The electronic digits would pass the minutes by as the man would continue to go through the emotional rollercoaster his brain was on. Fidgeting, adjusting, crossing and uncrossing legs. Fingers ran through hair, fingers tapped on his knee, fingers balled up into fists.
"How much time has it been?" Elijah would ask tentatively. Upon hearing Maevia's reply of five minutes the man would blink behind those dark shades. "Tch," He'd grin with a laugh. "Can we put on some background music or news or ... static? The silence is killing me." Another few laughs would follow before a thank you would be expressed. If there was any further conversation it would most likely consist of positive reminisces. Small stories of when his daughter was but a tot. How she was similar to her mother in many ways, her baby chick tendencies, her favorite meals even within the constrictions of the relocation camps. Even if the topic was attempted to be shifted, it would somehow pull back to Stella. Weather? It reminded him of this particular tale, and so on.
Eventually Maevia would inform the man that the last landmark he'd informed her of was approaching. "Slow down to a stop, would you?" As the vehicle would obey on the, by now, non existent road Elijah would stomp a foot onto floorboard and would pause a moment to listen ... to grin. Pointing with a finger purposefully the man would say, "Drive into the hill." And with another hand motion an opening would form. The green grass and clovers, still attached happily to their clumps of dirt would be placed gingerly aside.
"Our version of a parking garage. There are plenty of parking spots towards the end on the right. Looking like we might need to carve out some more as the spring festival comes around." The underground would be just that. Plants that were known for their glowing properties lit the way. Cars, vans, two buses, motorcycles. "Yep, right here is the first open one." And so the two would park. Elijah was sure Maevia was taking it all in but he wasn't in the right state of mind to give a tour of the inner workings of how such a development had remained hidden. He was already walking his way back out towards the entryway, "Come on, kiddo." The earth magi would say over his shoulder.
Outside the "opening" would be closed back up by placing the large amounts of dirt back into their allotted slots. The hill returning back to normal in its previous cheery state, not a single flaw to be seen. Stretching his arms outwards Elijah would exhale as he focused upon the ground the vehicle had traveled through. "Give me a second." The changes wouldn't be obvious but for one that was observant there would be a wave of subtle fixings to alleviate their proof of route. Straightening smooshed grass stalks, erasing tire tracks from the looser grounds. Once Elijah was satisfied he'd lower his arms in a relaxed manner, "Ready?" He'd ask with a small grin. "You're not one to get motion sickness, are you?" when it's only in my memory Minnie of GS

[attr="class","biggie"] [attr="class","textie"] END IN SIGHT She was no stranger to silence, and not a fan of small talk, but this? This was… different. Uncomfortable, maybe. There was energy in the car. She’d never seen Elijah so antsy; fidgeting was the last thing she ever expected the man to do. But this was… big. Even Maevia couldn’t deny the energy she was feeling. Or maybe it was the third energy drink she pounded before tossing the can in the backseat to join the others. She laughed and shook her head. “Sure, of course.” She flipped the radio on and guide the Magi’s hand to the tuner. “Put on whatever you want. I’m not really a music person, so it’s all the same to me.” She would gladly listen to any positive little stories, and tried to keep the mood lighter by telling him her own stories about her father; Elijah hadn’t seen him since before the camps, after all; it was nice to reminisce. But any talk would inevitably fall flat, giving way to tense silence once more (even with the radio in the background, Maevia felt the anxiety in the air as a heavy weight on her shoulders). She stopped, as asked, but shot him an incredulous look. “Into...?” She eased the car forward as he said but... oh. Of course. Magic. “I see. Clever, clever,” she mused. She yawned and stretched the second she stepped foot from her car. Then she knelt by the nearest plant-light and examined it. “Wonder if I could get these plants to grow in Dagos,” she thought out loud. She stood at his summons and followed along; there certainly were more pressing matters, but she made a note to examine Haven when they got there; they were masters of keeping themselves hidden, and more tricks like that were always welcome. Blink. Blink. “What? You're... ah, hell, Elijah,” she said, half a frustrated groan, and half a laughing realization. She walked up behind him and hopped on, assuming that was the plan. “I promise I won't throw up on you, old man. Or I'll try not to, anyway.” ===== Tags: Elijah Kingsley Notes: heck [attr="class","iconie"] [newclass=.biggie]-webkit-transitionduration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover]margin-left:-300px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie]opacity:0;margin-top:-425px;margin-bottom:150px;width:285px;height:400px;padding:10px;background-color:#000000;border:solid 1px #000000;color:#e4e0e0;text-align:justify;overflow:auto;margin-left:10px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;font:11px calibri;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .textie]opacity:1;margin-left:610px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie::-webkit-scrollbar]width:10px;background:#000000;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background:#9589a0;border:2px solid #e4e0e0;[/newclass] [newclass=.iconie]opacity:0;margin-top:-240px;margin-left:-220px;margin-bottom:50px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .iconie]opacity:1;[/newclass] [newclass=.tagsie]opacity:0;font:11px calibri;color:#b7b7b7;margin-top:-75px;margin-left:-75px;margin-bottom:40px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .tagsie]opacity:1;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass]

One post for each of us during travel. Next one will be us arriving, cool? Nothin' else seems to hurt like the smile on your face "That's all I ask." Elijah grinned. He wasn't surprised by the groan. Maevia was an indoors sort of gal. That much he knew of his niece. She was a techy indoors flower that thrived in little to no sunlight ... "Heh." Elijah mused to himself momentarily as the young woman hopped up, his calloused hands easily held up the jeaned legs. Under differing circumstances where his mind wasn't so hurriedly engulfed in thoughts of his daughter they'd find the comparison amusing.
Yes, he was an earth magi but flowers had never been so forefront in his vocabulary that he'd flippantly use them in his thought processes. The Haven Florist apparently had an affect on him. In small ways her influence peeked out just as the first greening buds always did from beneath melting snow. At this time they'd seen each other a few times. Well sufficient to have her voice or words pop into his head on occasion. And sure enough, there she was again. Enough to cause the man to smile briefly before refocusing.
Stella.
"And any whining." The earth magi would add as he adjusted his grip on her legs. "None of that." Only when Maevia's arms wrapped around his neck securely did he start to walk forward. "Just hold on tight and let me know if you need a break." The previous smile would shift sideways into a smirk. "That way I can sling you over my shoulder so we can keep going. First class accomodations , you know." Yeah, there was a small amount of schadenfreude bubbling up from the situation. "Only the best for my niece." Not too much, just a bit.
If there was any amount of banter to follow Elijah would continue walking until any initial concerns or sass were concluded. Maevia would feel the difference before the serious traveling commenced. Up onto the balls of his feet the man would lower with a bend of the knees. "Off we go then." He'd say simply in warning before bounding forward at a speed incapable of humankind. In the blink of an eye they burst forth, entering the forest with a force that would send Mae's hair flying behind her if she hadn't put it up.
Every stride advanced them multiple feet. The soles of his shoes landed softly only to then powerfully thrust forward again. Without missing a beat the man always seemed aware of his surroundings. Forestry whipped by. Woodland animals would glance their way before returning to their nuts or leaved meals. It wouldn't be long before even some of the trees seemed to welcome them. Trunks and limbs would bend to better allow a clear passage. One even lowering so far as to act as a temporary bridge to cross over a storm's previous calling card. Whether they were running upon the ground or traveling from tree to tree the speed would remain impressive. And so they would travel. when it's only in my memory Minnie of GS

[attr="class","biggie"] [attr="class","textie"] BUMPY RIDE She grunted at the awkward position. It was embarrassing, really; she wasn’t a child! But at the same time… she wasn’t athletic, and if she had to walk on her own, they wouldn’t get there for another week. No, screw exercise. Her arms wrapped around under his neck, mindful not to choke him. Not that her wimpy arms could even do that; it was like clinging to a rock; Elijah was old but as solid as the earth he commanded. “Whining or surprise hurling, take your pick,” she sassed back. She wrapped her cybernetic arm tighter around his neck, as a joke. “Do I get an in-flight movie and meal for this ride, then? No? Well, just be careful, old-timer. These are fragile goods you’re carrying.” She took a deep breath when he said they were off. Her hood was up and containing her hair, and her head was firmly planted against his back, with her eyes shut. This was going to be rough. Her heart and stomach both dropped the second Elijah lowered his stance. To say Maevia Inclemens was out of her element would be doing a disservice to the intensity of the situation. It would be more accurate to say that she could not possibly be more out of her comfort zone than she was at this moment. Outdoors? Check. At another person’s control? Check. Moving very quickly? Check. Heading into the unknown? Check. She shut her eyes as tight as she could manage, and then tighter still. When she got back to Dagos, she was going into her bunker and wasn’t leaving for anything ever again. Those safe walls, the isolation, the security she commanded completely… and best of all? It didn’t move. She had to stop him for a break twice, insisting that they don’t move for “two gods-damned seconds” or else the energy drinks were coming up the same way they went down. The first time included whining; she sat on a nearby log and hunched over, clutching her stomach. “I’m not built for this,” she groaned. But for his sake, she needed to find a balance between her physical health and a timely arrival. And so the rest of the journey would be an uncomfortable one for her, as she tried her best to keep her neglected body from giving in. They couldn’t arrive soon enough, as far as Maevia was concerned. ===== Tags: Elijah Kingsley Notes: she hates this [attr="class","iconie"] [newclass=.biggie]-webkit-transitionduration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover]margin-left:-300px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie]opacity:0;margin-top:-425px;margin-bottom:150px;width:285px;height:400px;padding:10px;background-color:#000000;border:solid 1px #000000;color:#e4e0e0;text-align:justify;overflow:auto;margin-left:10px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;font:11px calibri;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .textie]opacity:1;margin-left:610px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie::-webkit-scrollbar]width:10px;background:#000000;[/newclass] [newclass=.textie::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background:#9589a0;border:2px solid #e4e0e0;[/newclass] [newclass=.iconie]opacity:0;margin-top:-240px;margin-left:-220px;margin-bottom:50px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .iconie]opacity:1;[/newclass] [newclass=.tagsie]opacity:0;font:11px calibri;color:#b7b7b7;margin-top:-75px;margin-left:-75px;margin-bottom:40px;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.biggie:hover .tagsie]opacity:1;-webkit-transition-duration:.5s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass]

Nothin' else seems to hurt like the smile on your face Elijah proved to be patient during the requested breaks. At least as patient as the minimum required of the situation. It really didn't take an overly obvservant eye to see the man was struggling with his emotions. As poor Maevia dealt with her own versions of struggle (dry heaving, motion sickness) Elijah couldn't stay still. Not for one moment even in the wake of the lengthy traveling.
One second he would try sitting on a nearby patch of dirt, but the act was too still for the tempest in his brain. Pacing would more than likely follow after realizing this. Never once did he inquire. The earth magi knew Maevia was aware of the heaviness. The ... the severity. The man had been told he was to be reunited with his long since missing little girl, his precious daughter. Gods, she would be eight years older now. Had she continued to take after her mother? What did she enjoy? What brought her joy? Had the near decade proved cruel? Would she even want anything to do with him after so long?
Each time Mae would inform Elijah that she was as ready as she was ever going to be and the verbal assurance would be all he'd need. Turning sharply each time Elijah would deviate from his pacing and would be off once again. Unless the human he considered as his niece kept her eyes tightly closed the entire time she would no doubt have noticed the changes the longer they continued to run.
Sure, when they first began the woods appeared as it should be. The Arecia that showed up on internet searches. Climate appropriate pines and various other forestries. But the deeper they went, in the direction they went, the sights would become increasingly categorized as oddity. Yes, there were the usual trees that bowed according to Elijah's wishes but there were others that seemed to move without any prompting. As if contorting to catch a peek at who wished to sprint through their home.
There were mists and fogs that lowered and dissipated at a speed unnatural to weather. Sparklings would cascade as Elijah would sprint unwaveringly through illusion after illusion. Deeper and deeper they went, the grander the views. Not only had the greenery apparently grown to monstrous heights but also housed unprecedented classifications of plant life. How were there palm trees growing naturally this far north so close to snowcapped mountains? Tropical flora climbing up the trunks of winter bound trees soon became a common sight.
As Elijah continued bounding from tree to tree in his personal race home Maevia more than likely caught the glimpse of many an other worldly being. Arecia this deep in was the home of a multitude of spirits. In truth, even with magi efforts, the reason Haven hadn't been discovered yet by undesirables could be mostly coughed up to spirit assistance. From the cutest winged bunny rabbit appearing spirit to the large dark figure with red eyes in the distance that glared from afar. It seemed their traveling was gaining the attention of many a set of eyes.
Even without the use of eyes one could sense that they were being watched most assuredly. Searching. Curious. Threatening. Determining. One could guess the reason they weren't attacked was because of the presence of the earth magi who pressed on, seemingly not noticing the other dimensional onlookers whom sent no vibrations through the earth.
"Let me do the talking." The words expressed would be the first of the entire trip since they'd begun on foot. A simple instruction that would prove useful. The man's pace would slow until finally they would eventually find themselves walking up to a sigh that had become more and more impressive the closer they'd gotten. "Welcome to my home." He'd say as Elijah would offer to allow Maevia down to walk beside him.
"Welcome to Haven." The sentence seemed small compared to exactly what was before them. The final safe haven for his kind. An entire city consisting solely of magi where instead of skyscrapers the trees towered over them at even greater heights. Gigantic limbs miles skyward would act as streets and pathways. Homes and businesses were built right into the ungodly sized trunks. Air magi made up a good bit of transit above in flight simulated traffic. If Maevia had chosen to walk for her own Elijah would place a stern hand upon her shoulder, guiding them towards what was easily conceived to be the border control center. As Elijah had assured earlier, he did all of the talking. One didn't question the leader of the MLM lightly after all, the exchange didn't last long before they were allowed entry.
What would follow would be what he considered the shortest amount of time for Mae to take in the grand view before asking the obvious next question. "So where is she?" when it's only in my memory Minnie of GS

The trip from the abandoned farmhouse on their way to Haven had been neither long nor particularly dangerous— which was why Luca had chosen the route to begin with. Their path had taken them away from the main road about halfway there, but the little trail they’d taken to remained safe and out of sight as ever. An unnecessary precaution, perhaps, considering by that time they were well within the boundaries of Arecia’s relative safety, but as far as the elder of the two magi was concerned, it never hurt to be a little extra careful. It was mid afternoon by the time Luca arrived in Haven with his young ward, leading her gently along by the hand. As ever, the magnificent place was a welcome sight, and never ceased to find some way to amaze him as they wandered toward the city’s heart. Glancing down at the young moth magi at his side, he would release her hand after a while so he could speak and sign to her— although the latter action was still a little choppy and uncertain. “What do you think little one?” he asked, smiling warmly at her, “Are you hungry? We could stop somewhere for food.” A rare treat for a journey well finished, but one that would be well worth it. It had been some time since they’d had anything other than the rations he carried in his pack. “Or should we go straight to the hostel and get some rest first?” Whatever the little one decided, he would reach to take her hand again, and begin leading her off to the chosen destination. WORD COUNT: TAGGED: TAGGED: LYNX Stella was interlocked in glorious combat! Now the proud captain of The Lady of the Lake, Stella was standing atop her mighty vessel, as the navy dogs had boarded her ship. Hah, that would be their last mistake! Did they not know that she, Stella of the Eastern Blue, was undefeated?! The crewmen had already fallen prey to the navy's infallible swordsmanship, but Stella was in a league of her own, they'd never conquer her! With a deft slash, she cut down all opposition, as the wooden stick struck the bark of a tree, breaking in two. Raising her arms triumphantly, Stella accidentally knocked off the paper hat and paper eye-patch that she herself had folded and drawn pirate flags on. Picking up the folded hat, but leaving behind the eye-patch, the tiny girl darted over to Luca with a wide grin on her face. Handing him the paper-hat, it was clear that she was encouraging him to take part in her games more, rather than being so boring! Immediately after, she grabbed hold of his hand and crammed herself against him. The game was over, they had finally returned home from their voyage at sea. Letting out a tired sigh, the girl was rather tired.
Signalling to Luca, her own sign-language was getting decent enough that she could convey general ideas. I'm tired and hungry. Communicating with Luca had been an enormous step forwards for the mute moth-girl, although there were several signs that Luca himself consistently misunderstood - or didn't understand at all. It'd be a while before they could talk about all the things that Stella was curious about. Can I have a show-er? Was her next attempted sign. Gesturing to the dirt on her face and hair, her course of action seemed pretty clear. The girl wanted a shower, then something to eat, then mayhaps a nap, unless they needed to go somewhere. Though, typically when they returned to Haven, Stella could guilt-trip Luca into letting her have a little time off before they returned to the road. The moth girl wasn't quite sure why Luca seemed to be so restlessly travelling, and frankly, it didn't matter to her. He was treating her well, and as such, she wasn't going to leave his side easily.

[attr="class","biggie"] [attr="class","textie"] LOVE, REUNITED Maevia blinked. Her cybernetic eye adjusted and readjusted, ensuring the lens was clean and feeding the sights correctly. Nothing could have prepared her for Haven. Never in a million years would she have expected a place like this to exist, let alone hidden and only a hundred miles from Dagos. Or thereabouts, anyway; all signals of hers were being blocked, preventing any sort of GPS from getting a read on her location. Whatever magic protected this place must be more powerful than any she’d seen. “It’s incredible,” she managed to say and her head swiveled around to look at all the sights. She preferred the concrete jungle of Dagos, but this felt like a city. Magi were all around, not living in fear or begging in the slums… How was her plan ever going to live up to a place like this? She allowed herself to be led to the security office without a fuss, and stood silently while Elijah did his talking. Given how quick it was over, she figured Elijah must have the power and respect she assumed he did. Before she could examine more of Haven, Elijah brought them back to business. “Well, I don’t exactly know my way around, but I know who I’m looking for,” she said with a hum. “I can spot them easily enough. Bring me to some of the more populous public areas so I can see.” No doubt he would comply, and they were off. She felt watchful eyes on her the entire time, but it was nothing she wasn’t used to. They had a right to be wary. She kept on the lookout for the blue-haired zero magi, and his small friend. Five minutes passed. Ten. Fifteen. Searching a city wasn’t exactly easy. “She’s here. My information is good,” she said to reassure him. Another five. Ten. And then… There. There he was, hand-in-hand with a small, dirty-faced magi girl with moth wings. She stopped Elijah with a gentle hand on his bicep. “There. Are… you ready?” Once he took a few moments to compose herself, Maevia would lead on. “Luca!” She called out. “Luca! Over here!” She waved her arm to draw his attention to her. Hopefully he would stop, but at this point? Even Maevia would run to catch up if she had to. And once she approached, she had a grin on her face that refused to go away. “Luca! Hello. I trust the clinic is well?” She asked. No doubt he’d question why she was here, too, but once that was out of the way, she got to business. “Luca, I want you to meet someone,” she said, and gestured to Elijah. “Luca, this is Elijah. Elijah Kingsley. Elijah, this is Luca. And this…” She turned to look at Stella with as warm a smile as she could manage. “This is Stella. It’s nice to meet you. Stella… this is… this is your dad. He’s been looking for you for years.” She stepped aside, next to Luca, to watch what unfolded next. Maybe there would be doubt, but with the rings around Elijah’s neck… well, that was probably all the proof Stella needed. ===== Tags: Elijah Kingsley Luca Burke Stella Kingsley Notes: The journey's end. Dear Gods. This was emotional. Nothin' else seems to hurt like the smile on your face Given the massive magnitude a city like Haven had to offer, Elijah was prepared for a lengthy day. He guided Maevia where she asked to be led. Hundreds of pairs of feet were in their immediate proximity alone. The idea that his little girl had been living in the same city as him this entire time burned a hole in his skull. But at the end of the day he'd rather her be here than somewhere damning. Or dead. And as much as he wished it otherwise Elijah was not well versed to tell one child's foot steps from another. As the two strolled through the unique city scape Elijah would be attempting to unravel the coiling around his heart. There was forgiveness to be worked through. Anxiety.
"There." Would come the voice, his stride halting at the eventual gentle touch. "Are ... you ready?"
.......... How did one answer that? The arm under Maevia's fingertips would tremble under the weight of the proposition. "Y--" The word stuck in his throat as it closed up. A nod would follow as his brows jolted momentarily as they struggled with the flood of emotions. "Yes." There it was. The single most crucial word to leave his lips. Its weight so powerful that it barely managed to alight the air from his tongue. One of his calloused hands rose up to lightly squeeze hers. For the time being it would express his gratitude for what was about to come.
Which steps were his daughter's? Maevia would lead the way shortly afterwards, sending Elijah's brain into flames. Which set of tiny feet was his princess? Mae would call out an unfamiliar name and beeline towards two individuals. One adult, one smaller. Elijah's hands began shaking as they would approach closer. It would seem Maevia knew this individual and would begin making small talk. But none of the words would register.
No. The rest of the world would fade away into nothingness. His mind's eye stared in disbelief at the smaller being before them. Nothing else existed. There was no city, there was no population of bustling people. There was no planet earth or sky. All that existed was the child. His child. So it wouldn't be with cold heart or purposeful rudeness that he wouldn't respond to the introduction to this Luca chap. His priorities were set in stone and he just wasn't one of them at this time.
The older man would stand where he was a moment. Frozen. Was this reality? Was this really happening. But then there would be those tiny feet again. Standing. She was there. Really there. This wasn't some cruel nightmare. She was really there. Here.
..... With a shudder the man would lower to one knee with a delicacy as if the ground would shatter beneath him. Though his scarred eyes would be sheltered behind those darkly tinted sunglasses his facial expression would showcase that he was struggling. The weight of this moment was near unbearable.
"S-Stella?" The blind father would ask of the child in front of him. The tears welling in his eyes would be heard in the crack and tremor of his voice. "Princess?" when it's only in my memory Minnie of GS

[attr="class","ig"] [attr="class","kikan"] “I’m tired and hungry,” signed the young one, earning herself another smile from her caretaker. “Me too,” he answered her, still signing as he spoke. Maybe they should find somewhere to eat, first. Somewhere with tables to sit at, so they could get off their feet for a while, and— “Can I have a shower?” Luca blinked, then nodded. “Yes, you most certainly can.” To the hostel it was, then. They could both clean up a little, and then see about filling their bellies once they were a little more refreshed. Adjusting their cours accordingly, Luca would begin leading the way once more, only to stop abruptly when about the last voice he’d expected to hear in Haven came calling his name. Whipping around, the zero magi stared wide eyed at the cyborg approaching the two of them. “Maevia?” he asked incredulously, frozen in place. “Wh—? How did you—?” Her question stopped what likely would have been a long series of half-finished inquiries, but the stuttering persisted nonetheless. “Th-the clinic is fine, but… Maevia, what are you doing here?” It was only after she said there was someone she wanted him to meet that he noticed her companion— an older magi, tall and dark-skinned, with moss and vines in his hair. Earth, probably. One Elijah Kingsley. Still thoroughly confused, Luca remained helplessly mute while the cyborg spoke on, making a quick introduction before uttering a name he was unfamiliar with. Stella? She was looking at his young friend while she said that, smiling warmly, as though the two of them were old friends, or… “Stella, this is your dad.” Family. Somehow, his eyes managed to open just a little wider, and in the smallest of voices he was able to squeak out one final word before falling mute; “… What?” [newclass=.joker]width: 360px; height: 140px; padding: 20px; background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0); -moz-transition: 3s all; -webkit-transition: 3s all; -o-transition: 3s all; transition: 1s all;[/newclass][newclass=.ig:hover .joker]background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.4); -moz-transition: 3s all; -webkit-transition: 3s all; -o-transition: 3s all; transition: 1s all;[/newclass][newclass=.game]text-align:center; line-height: 9px; margin-top:10px;opacity:0;font:bold 10px Roboto; color: #ffffff; text-transform: uppercase; -webkit-transition-duration:.3s;transition-delay: .3s;transition-duration:.3s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass][newclass=.game a]font:bold 17px Roboto; font-weight: 900; color: #ffffff;[/newclass][newclass=.ig:hover .game]margin-top:0px;opacity:1;transition-delay: .3s; -webkit-transition-duration:.3s;transition-duration:.3s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass][newclass=.ninety]width:400px;height:180px;background-image:url(http://i.imgur.com/VcCe39g.jpg?1);[/newclass] [newclass=.kikan]width: 65px; height: 65px; border: 1px solid #0; transform: rotate(45deg); z-index: 2; margin-top: -27px; margin-bottom: -39px; filter: grayscale(100%);-webkit-filter: grayscale(100%);-moz-filter: grayscale(100%);[/newclass][newclass=.ig:hover .kikan]filter: grayscale(0%);-webkit-filter: grayscale(0%);-moz-filter: grayscale(0%); transition: 0.6s; transition-timing-function: linear;[/newclass][googlefont=Roboto][googlefont=Open+Sans]
