A urelio mentally prodded his sibling to catch her attention. Hey, Sis, not ta be a stick the mud, but ya might wanna slow down on the wine just a little bit, yeah? Ya know ya can barely hold your alcohol. As much fun as it would’ve been to watch Aurelia get blasted, he understood that she’d somehow end up regretting it, which in turn meant that he’d be blamed; not that she’d actually be able to do anything about it… … Eh, fuck it. Drink up, Sis!~ This being responsible act was starting to make the man’s skin crawl—so to speak. Shut up, Aurelio. Aurelia did partially heed her brother’s advice and simply stared into the rich red liquid swirling in her glass. She cursed her low alcohol tolerance even as she felt herself beginning to relax because of it. A fuzzy cloud was beginning to settle over her, making an easy task of practically melting into the couch. She brushed a few rogue strands of crimson hair away from her eyes and gave Theron a sidelong glance, appraising the human. He seemed safe enough to be around and he did seem inclined to try anything untoward. That fact alone caused a steady flow of questions to flood her thoughts. “Hey, Theron,” Aurelia began hesitantly. “Why’d you help me with that Hunter back there?” She paused briefly before continuing. “It’s not that I’m not grateful that you did, but . . . most humans wouldn’t have even thought twice about it, ya know? They find out that I’m not one of them and suddenly they couldn’t care less what happens to me, or they think doing whatever they want is okay.” The woman gingerly pulled her eyepatch free, revealing a delicate bulb that quickly bloomed into a vibrantly into a magnolia. “That’s why I hide this, so people don’t find out right away. Sometimes it’s not enough when someone gets close enough or when there’s a Hunter nearby. It’s why I don’t like coming to this place. I don’t want to end up like my parents, or any of the others.” Grim specters of that time threatened to spark a wildfire in her mind and she promptly took another long draft of wine to banish the unwanted intruders.

| After a moment or so longer, Theron averted his eyes, setting his gaze to wander about his apartment in the hope that doing so might somehow help Aurelia. Being stared at didn’t do much to soothe nerves, right?
He did, however, return his attention to the red-haired magi when she spoke to him again, shooting her a look that was almost confused at her question. “Why? Well, uh…” How to put it? That was the thing… along with maybe how much teasing he could get away with in that moment. The subject was a more serious one, after all. “I don’t like Hunters much.” He shrugged, as though saying so were the only natural conclusion he could have come to. “And I especially don’t like Hunters who try to pull the kind of shit that one was trying to do with you.” She also more than likely would have ended up dead in a ditch somewhere after all was said and done, but pointing that particular detail out didn’t seem very wise just then.
As he watched her remove the eyepatch, his own eyes widened a fraction in wonder. Though he had seen a decent few magi over the years, some traits still managed to amaze, and this one in particular was oddly beautiful. “Yeah, Felici…” Theron frowned. “It’s not the best city to be for magi, but at least tomorrow you can go on home, right? And for what it’s worth… I, ah, I’m sorry about your parents. Never easy, losing people like that…” Gods he was bad at this.

D on’t like Hunters?” Aurelia slurred incredulously. “Don’t most humans think they’re heroes or something like that?” The smile that followed was a sure sign that the alcohol was finally going to the woman’s head. Her mood was decidedly better and the dark specters that had threatened to overcome her were forgotten almost as quickly as they’d appeared; they loomed large for a moment when Theron mentioned the losing someone, but another sip of wine was enough to banish them again. “It happened a long time ago. I try not to let it get to me and my brother helps.” “I guess this place isn’t all bad if there are people like you here -hic-.” The red-head’s hand flew to her mouth as her eye widened in embarrassment. She looked at the man sitting beside her for a moment before a brief fit of giddy laughter shook her shoulder. “I’m sorry. I don’t know why that’s -hic- so funny!” Her shoulders continued to shake as struggled to hide the bubbly giggle. The sweet scent one might expect whilst standing in the middle or a field of wildflowers filled the air while she reveled in her mirth. Her cheeks were flushed a healthy crimson when she looked at Theron again and a radiant smile found its way to her lips. “Thanks. I really -hic- really needed that.”Holy hell, you’re actually letting your hair down a little bit, Sis. Aurelia gave a mental sigh as her moment of inner peace was broken by her brother’s big mouth. I can let my hair down some of the time, brother.Riiiiiiiiiiight.Shut up, Aurelio. Aurelia began to realize how hot she’d gotten and moved to put down her drink so she could remove the sweater she’d worn. She shook out her hair as she struggled free, revealing the plain green crop top she wore beneath.

| Theron made a bit of a face at the redhead’s assessment of what most humans considered Hunters to be, not because she was entirely wrong, but because he knew very well how true it was. “Yeah, well… I’m not exactly most humans, you know?” He couldn’t deny that his views might be considered odd, but they were still what he believed, and he was going to stand by them. Hunters were mostly dangerous assholes, and it would take one hell of a lot of convincing to get him to even soften that view.
A cheshire grin appeared as Aurelia let another compliment slip, although it shifted into a softer smile as the woman started giggling uncontrollably. “Eh, I guess Felici has its perks, sure,” he agreed, nodding shortly while he waited for her to recover somewhat. Shrugging, Theron added, “S’fine.” Laughter was a good thing, in this case, and if he were being perfectly honest, it was pretty cute when she did, all flushed cheeks and flowery scents. And even if he couldn’t quite understand where all that mirth had come from to begin with, she had a lovely smile.
And then Aurelia began to remove her jacket. Both of Theron’s brows shot up at the sight of the crop top underneath, and his eyes lingered on her figure for a bit before he caught himself and shifted them away. After what had happened earlier that evening, even as tipsy as he was now, he needed to be more careful about this whole situation— perhaps especially because the both of them were getting more drunk by the minute.
“I’m glad you’re feeling a little better now, though,” he said, shifting his thoughts elsewhere.
@d2 ● I'm really sorry to pull a 180 on you like this, but after the way Aurelia's encounter with the Hunter went earlier, I'm not sure I'm comfortable with following through on our original plan for this thread. I'm happy to discuss whatever we need to to figure something out, though, so just let me know. [googlefont=Montserrat]

A urelia curled her legs under herself and leaned comfortably against the arm of the couch. It’d been a long time since she’d felt as good as she did now. Safe, pleasantly drunk, and free of the specters that sometimes haunted her darker moments. It was a wonderful feeling. She stared absent-mindedly into the rich red of her wine and hummed a tune a former babysitter used to sing to her brother and herself when they were younger. The occasional giggle slipped out when she remembered something Aurelio had done to get himself into trouble. Of course, none of the incidents had been humorous at the time, and she’d be forced to take over to bail him out of a sticky situation, but now they were pleasant enough memories. “You know, I’ve always wondered if there were any nice humans like you left in the world,” she slurred. “My dad used to tell me stories about what it was like before everything happened. I never really believed him, but it was almost like listening to a fairytale when he talked about it. He always talked like it was a great time to be alive.” She looked at Theron with a playfully inquisitive expression. “Do you ever wonder what that might’ve been like? Magi and humans living together and actually getting along?” Aurelia took another sip of wine and shifted to a slightly more comfortable position. “It almost doesn’t seem like it could be real when you think about it. Must’ve been nice.”Yep, no worrin' about getting nabbed by some crazy Hunter or somethin', right? Can you just be quite for once?Nope.Of course not.

| Finishing off the last of his own drink, Theron set his empty tumbler aside on the nearest end table and sat back, lacing his fingers together behind his head. Aurelia seemed almost happy now, even going so far as to hum a little tune under her breath while they sat together. He couldn’t recognize the song for the life of him, but it was a nice little thing, hummed by an even nicer voice. The giggling was pretty cute, too…
Catching himself staring, he shifted his gaze away while the redhead spoke, detailing stories she’d heard of days long past. Just for a moment, Theron wondered vaguely if his own father had any tales like that, of the days before the camps. “There are a few, I think,” he answered her, flashing a wry grin. “Wouldn’t be too surprised to find we were an endangered species, though.”
Tilting his head, Theron locked eyes with Aurelia as she looked to him, contemplating her question briefly before providing an answer. “Yeah, sometimes,” he said honestly, giving a small shrug. The thought of harmony between humans and magi was a nice one, admittedly, but not one that stood at the forefront of his mind unless something reminded him of it— like an out-of-line Hunter, for instance. “Does sound really damn nice though, I agree. Maybe one day it’ll happen again, yeah?” If nothing else, it was a nice thought. “If things changed for the worse, they can change for better too…”
… Shit, maybe I did drink too much. Pulling a face, he snickered a little at the decidedly sappy statement. “Gods, I sound like a hippie now, don’t I?” Move your body, move your body

A urelia smiled sadly. “It wouldn’t really surprise me if you were, but that makes finding one that much better. I have a hard time trusting most humans. I think I can make an exception with you though.” “And I like to think that too. It’s hard to do that sometimes, but I can’t be gloomy all the time. My flowers tend to grow better when I’m happy; it makes them want to listen to me more.” She finished the last of her wine and followed Theron’s example by placing the glass gently on the nearest tabletop. Then, she settled easily into the couch as she continued to listen to the man’s answer. Guess the tough guy’s got a soft spot, huh sis? Aurelia shook her head, both in answer to Theron and to help block out her brother’s voice. Another drunken giggle escaped her when she looked at him again. “No, you just -hic- sound sweet. Sometimes, it’s nice to hear I guy talk like that, ya know?” Another smile graced her features. Though not quite as radiant as the last one, it was beautiful none the less and the flowery scent flowing from her seemed to grow in potency. It was easy for her to relax around Theron, and she was determined to enjoy the time she spent with him. The woman stretched expansively as a yawn snuck up on her before rising drunkenly to her feet. “I think that I might need to go to bed soon. Thanks for letting me stay the night here.” Aurelia started to walk away but stopped after only a few steps. She stood in front of Theron and put her hands on her knees, giving him a generous view of her cleavage. “You know, you don’t have to sleep on the couch. I’d be more than happy to let you join me in bed.” She grinned impishly before leaning forward to give Theron a quick peck on the cheek. Then, she pulled back just enough for him to see her face and boop him on the nose. “Just kidding,” she said. After that, Aurelia stumbled her way to the bedroom, swaddled herself in covers, and fell into a deep, peaceful sleep filled with dream of the man in the next room. | He sounded sweet, huh? Theron smiled, appearing almost amused by the idea. He could live with “sweet”, he thought— especially if it got Aurelia to keep smiling like she was now. “Well, I guess that’s okay then,” he replied, flashing her a smile and a wink.
Blue-gray eyes followed the magi as she stood up, and he sat forward a bit in case she suddenly stumbled. However, as the redhead managed to get to her feet fairly well on her own, Theron leaned back once more. “No problem,” he answered her, working to keep his eyes up on Aurelia’s face as opposed to elsewhere. He was about to say more when the magi leaned in, giving him a peck on the cheek that froze him on the spot for a moment, and left behind her the sweet scent of flowers.
The tap on the nose was enough to snap him out of it, though, and Theron recovered fairly quickly. “Goodnight, Aurelia,” he said as she retreated, smirking faintly. “Sweet dreams, yeah?”
He waited another moment or so after she disappeared into the bedroom before getting up himself and heading quietly for a nearby closet. Pulling down a blanket and an extra pillow, he returned to the couch to settle in for the night. With one last glance toward the bedroom, Theron shut his eyes, the faintest of smiles still tracing his lips. All in all, it had been a pretty decent night.
