"Hey give that back!" Lelianna yelped before getting a face full of bear kisses. From under her big fuzzy friend, she could see one of the bear cubs dragging away her staff. It was pretty strong considering her father had created the staff himself. She wasn't worried about the cub possibly breaking the only thing left to her by her dad. What she was worried about was needing to chase the little critter through the woods just to get it back before losing it! "Come here yo- WAH!!" This time Lelianna couldn't even get her sentence out before she was subjected to even more kisses from the big bear on top of her. Though she was trying to scold the big fuzzy thing, laughter bubbled out of her whether she wanted it to or not.
"Skjorn, no! Do- pffft, bleh!" She tried pushing the big brown bear off and turning her head to the side, but Skjorn was having none of that and continued to attack her while cupping her face with his big claws. There was no easy way to wiggle her way out of this was there? "Ok that's it y- pfffft- big fuzz butt!" Instead of trying to break away this time, Lelianna used her strength to roll the both of them over. it was a heck of a lot easier than trying to actually lift the bear off of her instead! Skjorn wasn't giving up that easily though. For the next few minutes Lelianna completely forgot that she had to go retrieve her staff and instead had to wrestle a bear.
You know, just a typical Thursday.
Eventually Lelianna managed to turn out on top and gave the big fluffy guy some serious belly scratches while laughing. "That's what you get you big goofball! Now let me- oof!" but yet again her words were cut short when Skjorn reached up and gave her a, quite literal, bear hug. "Gah you big meanie! I need to get my staaaaaff!" She protested, trying to worm her way out of this put to no avail. Finally, pretty tired at this point, Lelianna stopped her struggling with a defeated huff. Out of the corner of her eyes she could see the little cub still gnawing away on her wooden staff. "You guys are evil." She muttered, succumbing to the apparent bear cuddles she couldn't get herself out of.
Yeah little did she realize what a sight this was making for someone else to stumble upon.

[attr="class","foreign"] [attr="class","dust"] [attr="class","gold"]words: 526 [attr="class","gold"]sorry for the lateness! [attr="class","sun"]A Foreign Sun * I never thought I'd see Mmm— yum. Fiamma had to admit, peaches really were becoming one of her favorite snacks.
The fire magi’s booted feet made the barest scuff of sound as she walked the path through Arecia, gait leisurely and surefooted enough to suggest that she’d tread it numerous times before, and munched on one of the peaches from the basket currently tucked under her arm. The soft flesh and sweetness of the fruits were oddly addictive and it was this newfound appreciation for their taste that had been driving Fiamma to make more regular trips to the grove where they grew. It was a bit of a trek, enough to take up most of the day just for travel, but she found it well worth spending time on when there were no other chores or pressing needs to take care of. She had a certain air magi to thank for the discovery that was the beautiful grove, since Fiamma herself hadn’t managed to stumble upon it even after living in Arecia for as long as she had.
It was just a pity that the fruits didn’t keep for very long but, then again, more justification to keep going back. She could make a very relaxing daytrip of walking there, picking peaches, and perhaps taking a dip in the crystal clear pool if she felt like resting her feet before heading back. All in all this particular day had been very peaceful— at least until Fiamma was stopped by the sound of someone’s voice shouting from nearby.
She stopped, listened, and found herself faced with a decision. Investigate. Or plug up her ears and get going now. Recently, Fiamma had been running into way too many oddities in the forest for her comfort and — after the last one had left her with bruises, bullet holes, and broken toes —it was understandable why she might not have been super enthusiastic to go greeting this new one. …though this voice didn’t sound threatening. And would a new duo of Hunters looking to gut her be this loud? Not likely.
…………ugh. An aggravated sigh hissed out from between Fiamma’s teeth as she shifted from foot to foot, weighing her options, and after another minute or two of standing there she abruptly wheeled about and went stalking in the direction of the sound. Hey she’d survived enough peril so far, and the scaled magi really didn’t like the idea of leaving this mystery unsolved to come and bite her in the butt later.
Needless to say, what Fiamma found once she’d drawn (carefully, quietly so as to not be noticed) close enough was definitely not what she expected. Was that— a magi wrestling with a bear? This was strange enough to have the fire magi blinking a few times in quick succession and, once it became apparent that this sight was not going to reform into something more normal, Fiamma all but mentally shouted why the hell not and stepped out into view; still carrying the peaches.
A glance between the woman and the bear cub that was currently gnawing on what looked to be some sort of staff. ❝Is that, uh… yours?❞

► Wait was that a voice?
Lelianna lifted her face out of the bundle of fur it had been buried in to spot the sudden woman standing by. Lelianna wasn't the only one to notice her though. Skjorn looked over just as Lelianna did and let out a grunt. The good news was that Skjorn moved enough so that Lelianna could actually squirm her way out of the big bear's grasp. The bad news is that Lelianna recognized the sort of tone the bear's grunt had taken. "No no no, Skjorn, it's ok." She consoled quickly, petting the bear and taking it's furry cheeks in her hands to keep it from looking at Fiamma and trying to do anything aggressive. There was a momentary pause before Skjorn pulled his head from Lelianna's grip and instead licked her right across the face.
"UGGH! SKJORN!" Lelianna protested, stumbling away and wiping her face. By the gods she was going to need to wash her face after this! Trying to wipe away the bear spit without getting any in her mouth, Lelianna turned towards Fiamma. Oh right someone was watching this whole exchange. Immediately Lelianna's cheeks flared red. Way to make a stellar first impression! "Uhhh.....Y-yeah that's um, mine." She stammered out. Until it actually hit her.
Hey that was hers!
"Wha- Yule give that back!" She immediately protested, the realization temporarily banishing her embarrassment. The redhead earth magi hurried over towards the cub and grabbed one end of her staff before the little fur ball had the chance to get away. After a minute or two of playing tug-of-war with a bear (seriously how did Lelianna get into situations like these?), Lelianna managed to pry her staff away and actaully stay on her feet. "Whoa! Whoa, ok. Oof." Dusting herself off, Lelianna turned to face Fiamma. "Ah....Hi." She said with a sheepish smile. "I....uh.....I'm ok..." Shoot what should she say? "Sorry you had to, ah, see that...."

[attr="class","foreign"] [attr="class","dust"] [attr="class","gold"]words: 381 [attr="class","gold"]they're both awkward so it's ok [attr="class","sun"]A Foreign Sun * I never thought I'd see A distinctly wary look washed over Fiamma’s expression as the bear’s attention settled onto her and a low sound, caught between a grunt and a growl, rumbled in its throat. Bears weren’t exactly a strange sight or oddity when you lived out in the woods, but they could be dangerous to even magic users like herself. She wasn’t too keen on getting close to a creature with that much muscle and claw and, likewise, the bear didn’t seem to trust this new arrival to… whatever had been going on here. Fiamma didn’t actually know. It really had looked like a playful wrestling match, which was weird given that the woman had been wrestling with a bear.
Speaking of the woman, a closer look told Fiamma that she was a magi. Probably earth given the flowers interwoven through her hair as if they naturally grew there. This new knowledge helped put the fire magi more at ease— since that crossed the possibility of her walking right into a Hunter off the list —and her lips couldn’t help but twitch in the hint of an amused smile at the woman’s antics with the bear. They seemed to be friends? A chuckle then slipped out from Fiamma as the other magi finally managed to free herself from the onslaught of affection and stammered that, yes, the staff was in fact hers. There was just the matter of getting it back from the bear cub using it as a chew toy.
She felt like she should help, but then again Fiamma still didn’t really like the idea of scooting up to a bear cub while there was a fully grown version only a few feet away. Bad idea. Instead, the dragon like magi waited patiently for the tug of war to be resolved and gave her shoulders a vague shrug at the apology.
❝It’s fine? I mean, this really wasn’t what I expected to see today but I have come across some… surprising things in Arecia lately. Honestly I was expecting worse.❞ Hunters? Zombies? Some other terrifying creature that would try to eat her face off? All in all this was a much better alternative. ❝I, uh, live around here. So I just thought I would look around when I heard yelling. …sorry to interrupt.❞ [newclass=.gold]background-color:#fff;padding:2px;border-left:#222e8e 10px solid;font-family:century gothic;font-size:10px;color:#121b5e;width:120px;margin-top:10px;opacity:0;transition: 1s all;text-align:left;[/newclass] [newclass=.dust]-webkit-filter: grayscale(1); filter: grayscale(1);transition: 1s all;[/newclass] [newclass=.sun]-webkit-filter: grayscale(1); filter: grayscale(1);transition: 1s all;[/newclass] [newclass=.foreign:hover .dust]-webkit-filter: grayscale(0); filter: grayscale(0);transition: 1s all;[/newclass] [newclass=.foreign:hover .gold]opacity:1;transition: 1s all;[/newclass] [newclass=.foreign:hover .sun]-webkit-filter: grayscale(0); filter: grayscale(0);transition: 1s all;[/newclass] [newclass=.foreign ::-webkit-scrollbar]background-color:#fff;width:1px;[/newclass] [newclass=.foreign ::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background-color:#666;width:1px;[/newclass] [googlefont=La Belle Aurore]

► Truth be told it was probably a good thing that Fiamma didn't step forward to assist Lelianna with retrieving her staff. Skjorn, though he'd been relatively calmed by the earth magi, was still staring at the fire magi with a wary observant gaze. She was still a stranger to the big beast, even if Lelianna had essentially marked her as a friend so far.
Speaking of Lelianna, she still felt horrifically awkward about the whole situation. I mean who gets caught wrestling a bear? How does a person even go about explaining something like that? Oh don't worry, they don't bite. Well okay, not much. or, not as hard? yeah no she wasn't going to have much of an easy time with that. Though Lelianna had caught a bit of a chuckle coming from the other woman. So at least she was apparently being amusing.
Which definitely helped her blush. Definitely.
Lelianna blinked when the girl described finding worse. When she thought about it though, yeah there were a number of different scenarios that Fiamma could've walked upon that would've been a lot worse. Like, for instance, if Skjorn hadn't been so friendly after all. "Oh no I'm- Wait did you say you lived out here?" That one little detail had stuck with Lelianna through the girl's words. Was this a fellow hermit?
Wait! Was this the girl Cadence had mentioned!?
"Wait! Um....I-Is your name Fiamma?" Lelianna asked, hope starting to dawn into her features. Until she realized how creepy it probably was for a total stranger to know your name. "Oh! Um, sorry I just, ah....I met this girl a little while ago- probably like a couple days?- and she mentioned her girlfriend lived out here named Fiamma. I-I live around here-ish too. I didn't know there were others that lived out here, s-so I just got all excited."

Yes there certainly could have been far worse things for Fiamma to stumble upon on her way back home so, even though this particular occurrence was a bit strange, the fire magi was willing to accept it and just be happy that there would be no more terror or scarring lurking around the corner. For now. After getting some practice with running into other magi, she could even call herself more adept at having a friendly chat. Well— sort of; Fiamma very obviously still carried that air of an anxious outsider (not all too used to this making friends business, that's for sure) but then again this other girl didn't exactly seem to be a wealth of charisma either. That helped set the bar a little lower for both of them.
❝Yeah, I did.❞ The scaled magi replied when prompted and it was the suddenly hopeful look on the other's face that really grabbed Fiamma's attention. Something about what she'd said had apparently tipped off a sort of recognition in the other magi's mind, which was unexpected. Did she want to know about the people living in the area? Was she looking for something? Or someone, Fiamma's brain helpfully supplied in that nervous, "time to fear the worst" way and she found herself at the mercy of paranoia tapping away at the back of her skull for a few moments before managing to shake it away. No no that was ridiculous. This woman was a magi; there was no logical reason to tie her in with the others who had come to Arecia for violence, for hunting. It was just, her instincts getting a little too noisy. Yeah. The fire magi still needed some time to recover from that last incident, then maybe she could stop feeling a need to glance over her shoulder every five minutes and strain to listen to every rustle of a mouse in the grass. Side effects that lingered along with her still healing bones.
All of that paranoid scuffling in her brain took up only seconds and, just as Fiamma was scolding herself for bristling over a simple question, the other magi went on to explain why she'd asked. See. Nothing to freak out over, there was a perfectly good reason for it and that was— that she'd met Cadence? Wow, okay, another surprise. ❝You... met Cadence?❞ She echoed, astonishment scrawled clearly across her features. ❝Uh, yes she's— I mean. My name is Fiamma, yes. And Cadence is my girlfriend. How— how did you two meet?❞
Honestly, Fiamma wasn't all too surprised to find that her social butterfly of a girlfriend had managed to find and befriend one of the only other forest dwellers in the neighborhood (or whatever you could call her neck of the woods), it was just shocking to have a complete stranger call her by name. This wasn't exactly a small town where you greeted all the new neighbors with questionably edible casserole. ❝...I didn't think there were actually other magi living around here, outside of Haven. Haha, but I guess I've learned a few new things about Arecia lately.❞

► Suddenly the other magi looked kind of nervous. Was it something Lelianna said? Then again, how many complete strangers would just walk up to a person- after wrestling a bear of all things- and suddenly say their name with no prior meeting?
Yeah that was pretty steady grounds for being nervous.
Luckily that nervousness gave way to astonishment when Lelianna explained that she knew Cadence. "Y-Yeah! I was out in my garden when I heard her singing. I, ah...Well I'd never known any of the animals to sing so I-I thought I should investigate. She's a really fantastic singer, by the way." Lelianna said without thinking before blinking. "Oh um....B-But you probably know that...A-Anyways; we talked for a bit and I ended up showing her my garden and letting her meet some of my friends. Like Skjorn!" Gesturing back to the bear, the big beast in question had taken to lying down beside the redhead. Apparently he wasn't all that interested in what the two were talking about. How rude! "She was really nice, and she mentioned she'd come to visit you." The hermit hadn't even known others lived out in Arecia too.
But apparently she wasn't the only one just coming to this revelation.
"M-Me neither! I had no idea anyone else was out here. But now I've met you and there was Jason..." Wonder how many others might be lurking within the thicket? There were visitors, sure, but actual residents of the woods? it was something she couldn't help but be more curious about. Maybe she should try looking one of these days; see who she could find.
"Oh! That does remind me: I told Cadence that if she ever wanted to visit again she always could. Um, if you ever wanted to see the garden you could too. That would only be fair, considering." Did that come off weird? Hopefully that didn't come off weird. Lelianna really had no qualms with the winged magi returning to her garden to relax or just do whatever. And if Fiamma was a hermit then she felt even more comfortable trusting this girl not to destroy anything. Especially when Cadence had spoken so highly of her and Cadence herself had been so kind!
