And so our Story begins.
Proudspire Manor rests on a large bit of land just outside of the small town of Bordeaux. The Manor is owned by the Richmond Family, a minor noble family, but one that still remained wealthy through the generations. One winter day, Five kids were playing Hide and Seek, a game they chose to play rather often. However through the year, they realized that they had found a majority of the good spots within the house. Lately, the game's boundaries have increased to encompass the entire Richmond property. Earlier today, However. The child of the Richmond Family hid and was never found. The friends called and called, but Jonathan did not come out of hiding. Hours passed and the Jonathan's Parents began to worry for the boy's safety. Fearing that he wandered out of the grounds, They called city hall to begin a sweep of the area. Prodded by a hefty reward, People flooded the outlying forest. News crews soon showed up to interview the parents and relay the child hunt to the city of Felici. Now hundreds search the area around the property to find the lost boy... However you, you believe that The boy is still playing the game. Whatever your reason, instinct, experience, or a feeling in your gut; You've chosen a different path from the rest. But which path will you choose? The Manor The Grounds The rules of Engagement:

[attr="class","post"] [attr="class","text-lyrics"]I'll sing it forever It was the outside grounds that Cadence would try first. Even with her thick, insulating wings, the night’s chill was undeniable. If he was inside, he at least was warm. The bird had first heard of the missing child by chance, from passers-by when she was in the area. Sure, it was late, but if anything, she could go bother Fiamma, who was only a few hours’ flight away. The monetary reward didn’t even register in her mind; to her, a magi responsible for the well-being of two children and countless others, she could not leave a child alone and afraid, and possibly in danger. She stepped around the grounds, talons plodding on cobblestone and cold-hardened earth. She had played these games with children before, and while she was no detective, she had a handle on how children behaved. They were more honest than people gave them credit for; she didn’t believe he left the boundaries- the kids would argue with them that it wasn’t fair, and besides, they enjoyed it much more when they found a good hiding spot and could brag about it later. Maybe that’s why he stayed hidden even when people looked for him. “Jonathaaaan~” She called sweetly. “Can you hear me? My name’s Cadence. You won, you know!” While she repeated her calls, hoping to appeal to childish satisfaction of winning and choosing the best hiding spot ever, she kept an eye out for clues on the unfamiliar grounds; good spots for hiding, like bushes and big rocks, movement, a missing shoe or jacket- anything to clue her in one what he might do. She took to the sky, flying ten feet off the ground, trying to see if an aerial view could give her some advantage in finding him. While she continued to call, she kept her voice pleasant; when adults sounded urgent or panicked, it made kids afraid. “Jonathaaan~! Please come on out! The Grounds
When you first arrived on the grounds, you were told about the basic layout of the area. The head gardener stood on a short ladder and spoke out to the entire search party before they split up. The Richmond’s grounds were formidable to say the least; the Richmonds owned at least five acres of the land behind Proudspire Manor, with a majority of the land being untouched forest. The area is largely set up by sectors, depending on their cardinal direction. The northern sector is the only non-forest sector of the grounds. It’s the sector that lies directly behind the manor as the “backyard”. The massive garden was beautiful, especially covered in the white powdered snow. A few of the bushes were covered in thick green blankets to protect them from the killing frost. The center fountain was turned off, but not yet frozen over, just the top surface layer had begun to freeze. To the left was a large greenhouse, the glass dome fogged up from the temperature difference. Next to the greenhouse was a small shed-like house with fresh cut logs and gardening tools out front. The western sector is often denoted as the river sector, as there is a small stream that passes through it into a small pond. This sector, like the south and the east, is mostly made up of forest and has a very rough terrain. You should certainly watch your step here. Not only is it easy to misplace your steps, wild animals tend to enjoy drinking from the stream, or catching a small fish from the pond. The southern sector is a newly added sector of the Richmond grounds. Originally the sector was bought by a housing development company to create a new neighborhood. However, Seeing the neighborhood as a threat to their peace and quiet, the Richmond’s bought the land from the company to cease production. A couple of houses and foundations remain unfinished in this sector and is forbidden by the parents. Naturally, it was not off limits for the game. The eastern sector has a much higher-density forest area than all the other sectors. Trees and bushes clump together to obstruct pathways and vision. You have been told that there is an old shack out in this sector, but that’s it. There’s not a lot of information on this sector at this time. Each sector has plenty of good hiding spots and dangers along with it. Should you forge deeper into the woods? Or perhaps ask the gardener more about these places? The choice is yours, just remember, The Night is Dark and Full of Terrors Notes:Due to confusion on how DM'ed threads work, the Rules of Engagement have been updated to further set down the rules. [attr="class","post"] [attr="class","text-lyrics"]I'll sing it forever Hmm, well she wasn’t getting any response here; no doubt he must have hidden somewhere else on the outside. The woods were always ripe with hiding places. But which one would be the best… Perhaps it was time to ask for details, now that the group was addressed and split away. She would have searched all of the areas, but with how cold and late it was… time was of the essence. She swooped around in the local grounds near the estate, calling and searching while she did. The only figure she saw was the gardener, and she gently landed in front of them. “Um, pardon me?” She said. She wrapped her wings around herself, grabbing her shoulders and warming herself with her thick wings. “I was wondering if you could tell me more about the wooded… sectors, right? That’s the word? I was going to check by the stream first; anything I should know about good hiding places there?” She tapped her chin. “Have they played like this before? Do you know where they like to hide, or where he spent a lot of time maybe exploring?” While the gardener (hopefully) replied, she racked her brain. Thinking like a child was never too hard for her; heck, he probably moved from spot to spot to keep himself hidden. To say she was worried was an understatement; he may be a stranger, but he was a child, and if it was Soak or Stoke out there, she’d be tearing through every inch of ground until she passed out from exhaustion. She couldn’t imagine how worried his family must be, too. Whatever the gardener’s reply, she would thank them for their time, and take off to the sky. Unless they were 100% sure that he wasn’t at the river area, that was where she was going to try flying to next, hopefully armed with a little more information. The Grounds Northern Sector The greenhouse doors were open, with lights just coming on inside. The older gentleman was standing by the entrance, and just shut the electrical box wired up to the place. With a startled jolt the man stared wide eyed at the being who landed before him.
Magi.
Without allowing his gaze to deviate from the young woman in front of him, a gloved hand would reach behind him to grip a shovel. Magi were deviants at best. The crime rate had been much lower while such beings had been in the camps. You don't see humans turning to extreme doctrines such as terrorist ideologies. She seemed harmless with that-that smile but looks could be deceiving. The girl had just moments before been flying about. She could electrocute him where he stood if she wished to. "Yes? What do you want?" The older man would ask. His cousin had once been mugged by a group of magi. Ended up in the hospital for weeks with varying burns, that he had. ".... Why?" He'd ask simply. Why was a Magi asking about the grounds of his employer, a wealthy human couple? Upon hearing the reasoning the young lady would most assuredly be met with a look of skepticism. Seemed in his older years he was less concerned of not hurting someone's feelings with his facial expressions. At least when Magi were concerned. The other man that had been here just recently had been large, yes. But human. He'd trust a human over a Magi easily any day of the week.
"We, uh, appreciate your concern, ..." The man paused to consider what he should refer to the other as. Young lady? Miss? Magi? He would eventually choose against deciding upon a term to refer to her as and would turn to lock the Green House door. "But we have enough help from ... people." Clearing his throat he'd hurry inside the green house, shovel tightly gripped in one hand. "But thank you anyways." Would be his final words before closing the door behind him, leaving the Magi out in the snow. A time would pass of quiet. Nothing but the chilled winter stillness.
......... "Excuse me?" Came the softest voice from behind Cadence. A little girl humbly wearing a simple coat and a large knit scarf would be standing ankle high in a drift of snow. Her nose lightly kissed pink from the cold would barely be peaking above the material as those hazel eyes blinked up to the Magi. "You're here to help find Jonny? I ... Thank you!" The little girl squeaked as her little hands balled into fists. "I work in the manor with my mommy. I can answer your questions if you help me find Jonny. I'm ... I'm worried about him." The little girl would continue on to describe the area. How the grounds were five acres long. How the Northern Sector of the grounds had the green house, garden, and shed. That there was the river to the West.To the South was the unfinished construction sites. Where there were possible whispers of a shack. In the North there was forest. Lots of it. "If you want to, um, look around in the green house I'm sure I can get Mr Herbert to let us in. He's just scared of magi is all." The little girl would nod shyly to clarify her own statement. "But I think you're pretty and cool, flying around like a-a bird.... if that's okay." Looking off to the side the child's cheeks would blush lightly before she remembered that there were more questions the Magi had asked about."We play hide-n-seek every so often. Jonny is usually found quickly .... Even though the game covers the entire grounds. He could be anywhere ...." And would snap her saddened attention back to the teenager before her. "Oh, I'm Amy by the way. H-hi." Now that you have more detail and the opinion of the gardener, where will you search next? If you choose to remain in the Northern Sector of the Grounds you may explore the Garden, the Greenhouse, or the Shed. Will you decide to explore another sector of the Grounds? Will you comb the backyard, or try your luck out in the deeper woods? Or perhaps none of the places seem like good hiding spots, and you’d prefer to try your luck indoors? The choice is yours, just remember,(C) ELLIE @ GANGNAM STYLE

[attr="class","post"] [attr="class","text-lyrics"]I'll sing it forever Cadence always believed the best about everyone, so it didn’t even cross her mind that the man was giving her a sour look; to her, finding the boy was the most important thing, and so of course the gardener would want to help her find him, too! So she stood in shocked silence when he disappeared behind the greenhouse doors, leaving the wind to whip around her. That fear was a look she had seen before; it’s impossible to live in Dagos without it. Before she could find the words to protest, a soft voice drew her attention. Oh my goodness, what an adorable little thing! Her downtrodden expression immediately lit up at the sight of the soft-spoken girl. She bent down to eye-level with her, and tried her absolute hardest to not launch into a hug. She let the girl speak and goodness, Cadence just wanted to take her home. Too bad they were so far from Dagos! The kids would love playing with her. “Amy,” Cadence repeated. “What a pretty name! It’s nice to meet you; my name’s Cadence. You’re very sweet, Amy, thank you! Don’t worry, sweetie- we’ll find him. Do you want to help me look? I could use your help!” She turned to the greenhouse, then back to Amy. “No, that’s okay. I’ll let him look in there. Why don’t we try somewhere else? I spend a lot of time in the woods, so why don’t we look there? Between you and me, we’ll find him in no time!” Her voice was full of confidence. Not only to comfort Amy, but because she sincerely believed it. She did hope he wasn’t out there, though; there was no telling if a spirit wandered around nearby. All the more reason to hurry. “Why don’t we check by the river first? I can fly us there,” she added with a sisterly smile. The girl seemed to really like watching her fly, and even Cadence could lift a child. If she wanted to, Cadence would have her climb on her back and tell her to hold on tight. If she was afraid, Cadence would walk with her instead. In either case, once they were on the ground in the first clear area she could find at the edge of the woods, she would pause. “Are you cold, sweetheart? My wings keep me warm, so if you want me to put them around you, too, let me know, okay? I don’t want you getting a cold.” Regardless of the child’s answer, Cadence would enter the forested area with her, at the very least taking her by the hand; no way was she gonna let her get lost, too. With a subtle moving of a free hand, Cadence would still the wind in a small area around them, keeping the both of them warmer than they would be otherwise. The Grounds Eastern Sector
Amy blushed as the Magi spoke, she wasn’t used to being treated this… nicely. Cadence. She certainly had a way to put her heart at ease; Amy started to feel something she honestly hadn’t felt in a long time. Hope.“F…Fly?!” Amy squeaked as her hand rushed to cover her mouth. Her eyes shown with wonder, it was clear that she loved the idea of flying. But before she gave her aswer the light faded as she looked down to her feet. “I’m S..Sorry. I’m scared of heights.” It was clear that it wasn’t flying she was scared of; it was fear of being a burden, and fear of being a nuisance. Unless Cadence tried to convince her, Amy would grab the end of her scarf and begin rubbing her hands with the material to warm them. “River’s this way,” she would say, walking alone until cadence took her hand. However, convincing her to fly wouldn’t be that difficult. If she were convinced that it wasn’t a hindrance or if she’d be helping the situation by flying, then she’d accept almost immediately. Climbing onto Cadence’s back, she wrapped her arms around her neck, squeezing even tighter as they took off. It was only until they were at an established glide did she relax, and allowed herself to open her eyes. You could almost hear the child’s beaming smile and wonder at her new perspective. However she would soon snap out of it just long enough to point and say “The river’s over there.”Upon landing or entering the sector, Amy would bite her lip as she looked at her surroundings. Eventually, she would end up pointing to the southeast and say “Closest river beach is that way.” While the proper term was riverbank, you could still figure out what she was saying. Amy began to shiver a bit, rubbing her hands in her scarf. So when cadence offered her wing for warmth, she gladly accepted with a silent nod and another glow in her eye. Amy clung to cadence’s waist, wrapping her arms around her as if to keep her from leaving. Her breathing slowed as they began to walk, Amy felt safe with Cadence. The journey to the river was relatively dull. There was a worn down path through the trees and bushes that could even be seen through the snow. Not a single sound could be heard from the forest, leaving an awkward silence that only conversation could fix. However they did eventually reach the river, and from there, there were 3 paths to choose from. You could follow the river upstream, towards the property boundary. You see that the river empties into a small pond closer to the southern sector. And there is always the option of checking the Forest that lies on the river bank. The North Wind doth blow, And we shall have snow,

[attr="class","post"] [attr="class","text-lyrics"]I'll sing it forever Cadence giggled at the girl’s nervousness. “Don’t worry, Amy; I won’t let anything happen to you. Heights can be fun! It’ll be faster to look for Johnny this way.” She beamed as the girl accepted her offer, and took off nice and slow, to let her get used to it. She tried not to go too high, and when she hit a steady glide, she gently rocked back and forth, giving Amy a bit of a fun thrill without doing anything dangerous to scare her. When the river was pointed out, she took them in for a slow landing. “See? That wasn’t so bad, right?” The child’s face was the only answer she needed. It warmed her heart to see happiness from such a precious girl. She was glad Amy was so willing to accept her help; the poor thing could have easily been in danger of freezing or getting sick. Cadence’s feathers should be insulating enough for the girl’s small body to keep her warm, like a thick comforter or wool sweater. They had to find Johnny, but not if it meant putting other kids in danger with the weather. Cadence called for Johnny, with her gentle, sing-song voice, which carried far and long. “Johnny~! Are you out here? The game’s over! You won! We’re all worried for you, can you please come out? I have Amy here, too! She wants to make sure you’re okay!” She would repeat her calls for his name and her coos for him to come out. She had experience with kids, and knew how they could think. But at this point, he was probably cold, and willing to come out, even if he was being called by a stranger. After a few more calls, and if there were no reply, she would stop. If there was a reply, she’d head off in that direction immediately, taking Amy with her. However, she expected there would not be one. “Amy,” she said, gently, and smiled down at the girl. “Can you tell me about the game tonight? Anything you can think of, like, who was the finder, and who hid where?” The request was twofold; the first was to get some insight on how the kids behaved, and the next was to keep her talking so she would remain calm. She would listen intently, and make sure she knew it, nodding along and offering little “okays” and “reallys?” She knew how to engage kids, and nothing was worse than thinking grown-ups were ignoring them. Once at the river, she would tap her foot in thought. “Why don’t we try looking at the pond first?” She would say after Amy was done. Unless she said another kid was found there; he probably wouldn’t be in the same area. If Amy said someone was already hiding there, Cadence would instead suggest they try heading upstream instead. She never let go of the girl, holding her close the entire time as a measure of warmth, comfort, and safety. The Grounds Eastern Sector
Amy joined in on the calling for Johnny; it helped fill the soundless void this half of the grounds had. However after a while of no answering she began to go quiet. She was happy when Cadence started up conversation. “Oh well um.” She began, placing her forefinger on her lip as she recalled the game. “ Miss Penelope was the finder, while Richie, Johnny, Me, and Gregory were hiders. We count to a hundred before the finders start to move, starting from the door thingy. We keep it open so no one can tell if people go outside or inside. However we are able to keep moving and finding our hiding spot even after they reach a hundred. We can even change hiding spots during the game.” She seemed happy as she talked; the way Cadence listened was exactly what she needed. “As far as where people hid… hmm… Richie was… In the shack I think… I was hiding behind a tree near the lake, and Gregory was in the Manor and wouldn’t tell us where, he was the last one found….” She paused and looked down. “Well, other than Johnny…. I left before him so I didn’t see which way he went.”She hung her head low until they reached the riverbank; from which they could see the lake on one side and then a thicker wooded area upstream. However, since Amy said she was hiding at the lake, Cadence suggested upstream. The River… was more like a creek. It was small, barely over 3 feet deep and 6 feet wide. It twisted and turned through the forest, cutting its way into the hillside leaving small cliffs in its wake. Eventually the creek began to fade and turn into a small stream. The water was shallow enough that it was, or at least trying, to freeze over. Frozen patches were being pushed down the stream, breaking up when it eventually hit a small rock or two. As they reached the edge of the boundaries Amy would pipe up and say, “that marks the end of the boundary.” She pointed at a large boulder on the right side of the creek. “If he’s upstream he would be here.”In this area there are definitely a few places to hide. First off there were numerous amounts of thick bushes on either side of the creek. The left side of the river cut into a hill, creating a cliff, of which a construction drainage pipe was placed, letting the run-off out into the creek. There also appeared to be an oddly, shaped stack of branches over one of the rocks, Next to which there was a massive broken tree, easily 4 feet in diameter, if the other side was hollowed out at all it could definitely be considered a good hiding spot.
She'll sit in a barn and keep herself warm and hide her head under her wing, poor thing. Cadence Avia (C) ELLIE @ GANGNAM STYLE

[attr="class","post"] [attr="class","text-lyrics"]I'll sing it forever She ruffled Amy’s hair lightly. “Thank you, dear. That helps. Let’s go upstream then, hm?” She took a look at her surroundings, watching ice flow and crack down the river, taking note of hiding spots, and overall enjoying the scenery, despite the reason for being here. “It’s very pretty here,” she commented. She followed Amy’s finger. “Okay then! Let’s keep looking. And let’s stick together, okay?” She would continue to hold the girl’s hand, not letting go even if she wanted to; if Amy wanted to pull her one way, she would let herself be led. She was not letting this precious little one venture off into the cold darkness. She kept a protective wing over her, shielding her from wind and cold, and called for Johnny some more (Gently, cooing as before). She would first check the pipe, walking on top of it and peering into it from overhead. “Johnny?” If there was no response or further incident, she would next check some nearby bushes, holding Amy close in case some spirit or animal decided to lash out at them. “Johnny~” And again, if there was no further incident, she would inspect the stack of branches along the fallen tree. “Johnny?” She called. Any noise like shuffling or ruffling would cause her to stand still and wait for the source. Any response from Johnny would draw her attention immediately. And if any danger made itself apparent, she would shield Amy first and foremost with a wing, her magic, or her body, as necessary. You've found the Child, so much has been said, But your heart, will fill with dread.
As Cadence walked towards the pipe, she could here a faint sound in the air. It wasn’t hostile in any way; at first you could think it was a woodpecker. But no, this was no bird, it sounded like the chattering of teeth coming from the pipe that was still dripping water. Deep inside the pipe, far from reach, there was a curled up lump of a boy, gripping himself tight as if he would loose his legs if he let go. His hair was white as snow now piling up above the entrance to the pipe, and his skin seemed just as pale. He wasn’t wearing a jacket, merely a long-sleeved black shirt under a light blue V-neck and, gods forbid, shorts. He must be freezing, hence the sounds of chattering teeth coming from him. The boy didn’t move unless he was called out to, responding only to the name “Johnny”. The boy began to cry as he heard his name, his light sobbing overcoming the chattering of teeth. It would take some coaxing, but eventually he would crawl out of the pipe and onto the ground. But something was… off about him… “I lost again” he cried, his hands in balls trying to rub his eyes. “I tried, SO HARD. To find a spot that No one could find me.” He spoke in bursts, only taking a break to breathe in and out with heavy sobbing. “N..Now Penelope… will take my desert for the next month!” He cried and cried, bringing tears to Amy’s eyes as well. “I’m always loosing… I cant ever win... I just… Such a disappointment to everyone...” He sobbed, his tears falling below his chin and disappearing into nothing. He continued but the rest wasn’t understandable. “Oh Johnny…” she said as she ran out from under cadence’s wing. She jumped at him going in for a hug, but there was… a complication. While he seemed solid at first, the second Amy tried to touch him; she fell right through, landing on the ground behind him. “wh.. wha..?” Johnny stopped crying for a second, looking down at his hands; or more accurately through his hands. It seems he hadn’t known either what had happened…. As Amy got off the ground, her eye looked back into the pipe. “GYAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!!” she screamed, jumping back and as far away from the pipe as possible. She looked at Johnny, and back to the pipe. “J…J…Johnny?” Inside the pipe there was a dark lump, a very… Familiar lump. It was Johnny, still in the fetal position, his body unmoving and his grip tight around his legs. You’ve found Johnny. But he was gone long before the search began.
Little Johnny was running upstream looking for a hiding spot, as he looked around for a place to hide, he did not see where he was going. He tripped and fell into the freezing water of the stream, soaking his entire body. “N..n.nno I ccccant ggive up this tttime!” he told himself as he shivered, continuing to run up stream until he reached the edge. He saw the pipe and crawled in, the cold metal doing nothing for his already freezing body. And it was there that he curled up, holding his shivering body together. The cold air blew in from the opening, causing another drop in the boy’s body temperature. It was so cold; he really wanted to just go home at this point. But no. He stuck his pride, his honor, and his dessert on this bet. He was gonna win… but it was just so cold. He was starting to get sleepy… Better rest his eyes, he might be there a while…. and then, he was cold no longer. Shining with hope, you forged ahead, But it was all for naught, for he was dead. Notes: Congratulations Cadence Avia ! You've won the game of Hide and seek! You may post again to wrap up on your end if you wish but this will be the last post on my end. You will need to bring the body back to the manor to collect your reward and inform the parents. (C) ELLIE @ GANGNAM STYLE
