Oh Honey I’m gonna make your life so sweet ❤ After her last trip to the slums of Dagos, and her ineffective talk with her brother, Kel had decided to do something about it. Yes, even though she didn’t live in the fourteen hour away city, and yes, even if she wasn't supposed to be there, Kel was still going. She had asked her boss's nephew to watch the shop for her that day, and the young man had her cell phone number. Besides it wasn’t supposed to be busy that day. She had justified her trip as vacation time to her mother, but she knew her mother suspected something. Even if she wasn’t sure what. Kel had caught two off-duty Felici police officers who had followed her. After giving them a stern reprimanding, the two had backed off, and she was sure she had caught everyone who was trying to invade. After waking from her well-rested sleep on the train, Kel had made her way to her brother's apartment. Using the spare key, since Tatara knew the next time he would be home, she began her work. Kel spent hours baking, pies, cookies, macaroons, crisps, anything sweet and anything delicious. Though Kel was skilled at baking, she also knew that people living would need substance as well. Thus the bread and sandwiches and other assortments of treats that could be described as savory, rather than sweet. And so after about a day of prep work she made her way to the slums of Dagos. Did she look like she was a tourist who got lost? Hell yea. Did she particularly care? Nope. Her pink sunglasses covered her eyes, her brown hair was up in a ponytail under the baseball cap, and she looked almost too sweet. This is what the residents of the slums would see carrying large trays and bags into the slums. Kel didn’t know her way all that well, but she made her way to what she presumed to be the center of the slums and starting setting up on the side of a corner street. Son the delicious smells would fill the air and Kel hoped that they would draw in those who really needed it. Kel had spent her own money on this, and her own supplies. She was ready for whatever happened next. “Fresh Sweets! WORD COUNT: 1152 TAGGED: TAGGED: LYNX The slums of Dagos belonged to Subsume now. There was practically nothing going on within the slums that they didn't have a decent idea about. Perhaps that is why, when something was so completely and utterly out of place, that Kurai herself was one of the first to investigate. The slums were typically colored in a very uniform palette. The walls were grey, as whichever paint had once been used there came crackling off. The peoples clothes were grey, brown, dark. Having lost its color, covered in dirt, dust, mud and what not. The final color was metallic, rusty. Garbage cans that hadn't been properly cleaned in what seemed like millenia. That brings us to the general smell in the slums. It wasn't an overwhelming stench, but the aroma certainly wasn't dominated by flowers and soap either. To Kurai it could only be described as the smell of old people. Never properly clean, old food, dust, dirt, cigarettes. It wasn't a strange combination to Kurai. It was the aroma and the color palette that she had grown up in herself. This was how home smelled and looked.
...That is exactly why Kelri stood out like a summer tourist in a snowstorm. Admist all this grey, in this stench, she was completely opposite. Colorful and scented. Even before approaching the woman, a completely different scent was in the air. It was a strangely sweet and alluring scent, one that Kurai wasn't too familliar with. Granted, she had been working at a restaurant, so she had some idea of ingredients. Vanilla, was it?... Closing her eyes and sniffing the air, most regular people woulden't have been able to pick out the scent. For such a strange scent though, Kurai had little to no trouble tracking it down. There weren't many others approaching, most were being cautious about the situation, being that this whole ordeal wasn't something that happened often, if ever. Though Kurai had done her best to look approachable, there was no question about where she belonged. The reddened vest she wore had seen its use. Several holes and old stitches were visible all across it, and it barely seemed to be the right size for her. The skirt part had been mostly torn to shreds from all her encounters. There were different stains littered across it aswell. Blood, dirt, spilled food. No matter how often it was washed, it simply wouldn't come out. The laces in the girls boots were of the wrong color, and had quite clearly been produced makeshift from other fabric. The vibrant red hair was tied together into a ponytail using simple string. The young girl's nails clearly hadn't been cut to be kept down. Rather, working hard and using her hands, her nails had been grinded down through excessive use. Despite all of this, Kurai's eyes carried within them a strange determination and curiosity, as they met with Kelri's own. The snake like pupils giving away that Kurai was in fact a Magi. The demonic looking tail was twirling from side to side, almost playfully...
Stepping closer, Kurai tilted her head inquisitively to the side as she was inspecting the stranger, seemingly brimming with confidence. There were others in the slums, watching the two females now stand face to face. The girl was hungry, and despite her best attempts to keep that an absolute secret, Kelri would be able to make out that Kurai's mouth was watering. If not for impressive restraint, the girl had likely jumped straight into the sweets and stuffed her mouth full. Alas, such an action would imply that Kurai trusted the stranger's words to be true. All too often, generous acts had been used as a means of harassing the inhabitants of the slums - especially Magi. "...So you're telling me I can have some of this..." Looking down to a small basket of gumdrops, Kurai's eyes slowly raised to look at Kelri once more. The scent of fruit-flavored gumdrops soon had Kurai looking back and forth. Oooh how she wanted to dig into those... It was clear that there was distrust and caution in the air. "...For free?" The whole a smile for a sweet deal would've worked better if the people in the slums felt they had a lot to smile for. Even though most of them, including Kurai, were hungry, they knew full well what could happen if this was a ruse.
