Personality overall
The Outset.
Kurai is a young girl, growing up in a world where her kind aren't treated exceptionally well. Having witnessed and survived several atrocities, the girl has come to understand the unfairness of this world. A world in which abilities gifted to you by blood, can make you hated and feared. A world where those who have done nothing, can be freely hunted like they were monsters. A world where mothers abandon their children, for being born different to themselves. It was very early on that she was disillusioned.
The Solitary.
Kurai only sought the social recognition of others when she was younger, but recently she hasn't had the need to. Through the stories she likes to write and read, she feels like she has enough interaction with other material. Never attending parties or playground games, mostly because she stood out as a Magi and plainly wasn't invited, she's often shrouded in a veil of mystery. Even her own famiæy doesn't seem to fully know her. The few friends she has, have come to find her dependable and honest though. While they have to accept the fact that Kurai is never going to be the one sitting around drinking coffee and having long talks, they also know she'd never turn her back on them when trouble hits the fan.
The Prudent.
Kurai always thinks two or three steps ahead of the situation she is currently in, never making any rash, un-neccesary or reckless moves. Believing in always having a next step should the current plan fail, Kurai has developed a critical sense of strategy when it comes to.. pretty much anything. In discussions, in battles, in drama, in games... It doesn't matter, Kurai will always find the least troublesome way out of any pinch, and has been known to win games that for others would've seemed completely unwinnable.
- It also means Kurai is extremely hard to surprise with anything. If things are within the realm of reasonable, it is likely she has thought about that outcome before you did.
The Introspective.
Even if Kuraihas been branching out more and gotten to know more people over time, she'll always prefer to be in her own company, to being in the company of someone demanding her attention. Rethinking situations of the past, attempting to come up with a better answer, reflecting over the new answer and all sorts of mental processes are what runs through her mind. Enjoying to meditate, Kurai has come up with a way of viewing past situations almost like movies within her mind.
- Kurai has gained a keen eye for detail, and tends to not miss anything that has been or is being said to her. This is one of the reasons people absolutely loathe arguing with her. Its simply impossible.
When it comes to herself however, Kurai is ashamed of what she is, and believes that she was cursed at birth. It has been repeatedly drilled into her that the Magi are no good freaks of nature. All the girl ever wished for was to have a normal life with a normal family. Instead, she is almost always on the run. Several times, she has broken down a nd attempted to remove the deformity that is her tail. Through excruciating pain, she has cut the tail off, only to have it regrow over the course of a week. The many times she ran her head against the wall, slowly gave birth to somehing that was stronger than despair. An indescribeable desire to simply be accepted. Perhaps through finding a cure to the disease, or perhaps through other means.

[PTab=APPEARANCE]
Locked away in permanent slumber
appearance
Kurai is a petite girl, in the truest meaning of the word. Standing at merely 4'8'', and still growing up, the world typically towers over her. The girl has long darkred hair, that reaches slightly below her waist. The hairdo is typically a simple ponytail, kept in line with a black band, and her hair remains otherwise relatively unkept and wild. The girls limbs are slender and flexible, and she weighs barely 90lbs. For the most part, she could pass as a regular human, especially when viewed from behind. Albeit, when one pays attention, there are several oddities to her body. For one, the girls pupils are oddly red-colored, and take a shape eerily similar to that of a snakes iris. The girls tongue is a lot longer than what is regular. It is simultaneously thinner, and forks at the tip. Typically hidden under her clothes, just above her rear, protrudes a long, slender tail, starting thicker then growing ever thinner, with what appears like an arrowhead at its tip. The color of the tail - and coincidentally also the color of the girls blood, is dark purple.
The girls hands (and especially nails) show clear signs of having been used for activities, such as climbing trees to fetch nuts and berries. Additionally, all of her muscles are outlined, giving her a look of being athletic although not particularily strong. When gazed upon, Kurai also always appear to be on high alert, on guard. Constantly looking around, paying attention to sounds and movements.
Fashion
Casual Wear: The Casual wear is practically the only set of clothing that Kurai owns that she can wear. It is essentially a brown cloth onesie, that functions both as a skirt and vest. The skirt falls down further over her behind, aiding in hiding the girls tail. A pair of matching high boots, intended for travelling, and stockings made of whichever cloth she can find to cover her legs from immediate exposure.
Waitress Wear: This set of clothes is worn when Kurai is at work in the restaurant. It consists of black vest over a white shirt, accompanied by a black knee-long skirt. Wearing a pair of heels, the ponytail remains her hairstyle, although she will typically attempt to keep it well brushed when at work.

biography
Kurai was born to the world fourteen years ago, in the capitol city of Felici. The birth wasn't anywhere close to the hospital however; For the loose cannon of a mother knew full well that there was a chance the child would be different. Originally, the human woman had expected several different outcomes. Perhaps the child would be a normal human and could be brought home, right?! Even if she wasn't normal, most deviants had high birth-rate deaths, right?! If worst came to worst, she had planned to take the life of her child if she was indeed a deviant. Neither of the above happened. While Kurai was a deviant, a magi, she hadn't been stillborn. Instead, she was crying loudly. The mother had placed her in a basket by the bushes, ready to leave her daughter, but when it came down to the act itself, the motherly instinct triumphed over the fear. So instead of allowing the baby girl to freeze or starve to death in a bush, Kurai was wrapped up in cloth and carried home.
The girl was kept in secret from the world, growing up in a small appartment on the outskirts of the capitol. Rin wasn't a wealthy woman, and most of her daytime was spent studying, meaning that even from childhood, Kurai spent most of her time in solitarity. When Rin was around however, Kurai did recieve both food, water, attention and affection. Growing up they'd play simple games, and Rin would spend time teaching Kurai how to speak, write and do basic math. Even so, the girl was never allowed to go outside, and she had been strictly prohibited from going near the windows where others might see her. Curious as she was however, at the age of five, one afternoon when Rin had gotten home, Kurai was sitting in the window, looking with wide eyes at the world outside. There were so many moving things, so much that could be explored, so much that needed to be explained!...
...but such a time never came. Their neighbors, who had long been suspecting that something wasn't right, from the strange items that Rin had bought, to the fact that she was almost constantly locked within her own appartment, had seen Kurai sitting there, although it had only been brief. From there, things escalated quickly. Rin suddenly decided that it was time to take Kurai outside. Wrapped in cloth so as to hide the tail, and with a pair of sunglasses to hide her eyes, the two of them were rushing to the park. Rin knew full well what happened to Magi in this city. Within the park, the mother had found a rather secluded area, kneeling down before her daughter, crying openly. "Listen Kurai, you'll have to be a big girl now. Mommy cannot see you anymore. The other humans, they're not like you. Don't trust them. I know you'll manage, you're as strong as me, aren't you?" The exchange was far too complicated for Kurai to understand. When Rin rose to leave, Kurai was going to follow. It took some explanation that Mommy would be right back, wait here. So Kurai sat down next to a bush, watching with glee as the sun was parting in the distance. Waiting patiently for mom to return. Except mom never returned. It was late night when this finally dawned upon Kurai, and she was incredibly hungry...
The smell of something that seemed edible, drew her towards a trash bin in the centre of the park. It was here that she met them; Other orphans that roamed the streets for food. Several of them were working through the trash, trying to find something to bring back to their little hideout. What they found instead, was a Magi girl in need of help. Being that she was in the same situation as them, bringing her didn't seem like too far of a stretch. Especially not when she was a Magi! Surely they could use her skills to get more food and have a better life, right?
The only problem was, Kurai didn't have even the slightest idea about which abilities she might posess, nor how she was going to use them. They told her it wouldn't matter, that the orphans were a family, there to take care of each other. So together with them she lived, learning the ways of survival within the city for a couple of months. One of the orphans knew how much value could be placed onto a Magi, and had contacted a group of hunters, intending on selling off his comrade for a little extra. It started an early morning, when their hideout - a partition of the city sewers where noone typically went - got raided. Waking up to nothing but chaos, several adults were plunging into the childrens posessions. Things were thrown aside, as each individual scattered, Kurai included. Having studied the interior, in case something was ever to happen, she had jumped into the sewer waters, allowing herself to be dragged along the stream, through the pipes, until she eventually got flushed out into an open river, leading away from the city.
It was how Kurai first learned and truly tasted betrayal. It was clear to her now, that even human children in the same predicament as her wouldn't hesitate on taking advantage of her if they could. It resulted in the most painful experience. Having placed her tail onto a rock, she was holding a rock in her other hand. In a depressed frustration, she kept chopping away at herself, until the tail was completely severed. There was purple blood everywhere, and the pain had been unbearable. It hadn't changed much, however, for the body of a Zero Magi can regenerate, and after a few weeks, the tail was back, good as new. It was then that she understood, that without serious changes to her body, she would never become a human. Looking back at the capitol, she turned her back on it, turned her back on the humans, walking away alongside the river. Somewhere here on the outside, she would make herself a campsite. The campsite wouldn't be located too far from the city, as she wasn't aware of how to survive in the wilds, but it was a skill that she over the years would pick up on. Stealing from the local library and pawn shop, she gathered herself a plethora of books over the years, on varying subjects. Biology books were helpful for identifying mushrooms and plants. Medicine books allowed her to create basic remedies against fever, bruises and cuts. Science books allowed her to create basic equipment. That is to say, she only created extremely basic things; Whatever else she required, she simply stole. Developing her abilities and understanding more of what being a Magi meant, she could soon blend in and out of regular society.
