WORD COUNT: 1152 TAGGED: TAGGED: LYNX The Dagos slums were experiencing an entirely regular day, for the most part. The slums were, as one could imagine, not the nicest part of the city. People here had nowhere else to go. They were living closely together in whichever constructed homes could be crafted. Those that had lived there for a while had it a little more luxorious, while the new arrivals mostly lived in cardboard boxes or similar filth. Old long empty barrels of oil were now being used to keep fires alit, and several of the homeless were sitting or standing around these barrels to maintain heat. It was getting darker, nightfall approaching in the not so distant future. Paper bowls of disgusting soup, made of whichever ingredients were available, was being passed around, the homeless sharing what little food they had with each other. It was a community where everyone provided what they could, to an extent. Naturally there were the greedy, but not many were willing to fight over this mudwater soup. There was a minimal amount of trading going on this day. At the outskirts of the slums, as was typical, a larger amount of begging was going on, followed by an even larger amount of harassment. The inhabitants of Dagos weren't exactly pleased with the slums. Many of the humans saw it as a stain on an otherwise beautiful city. The comments were always in the air. Go die in the wilderness! Useless filth! Several other remarks of warying crudeness were heard on a daily basis. Amongst all the hatred however, from time to time, a kind soul gave a little ray of sunshine. Be it a smile, a handout, or similar gestures of kindness. Not everything in Dagos was horrible. Unfortunately, the opposite also existed. Those that took the harassment to another stage, those that carried out the insults on a physical level. The homeless, because there were several Magi amongst them, often suffered physical abuse. Getting kicked, spat on, children throwing rocks into the slums, just to mention a few examples which Kurai had witnessed.
It was the fact that no matter where they went, there was always abuse. The girl had been boiling with frustration. Perhaps that is why she had been going around, contacting people one on one. Contacting people that perhaps would be willing to do something proper about the situation. In the past, there had been attempts to resolve the issue. Attempts that included violent retaliation or worse. Attempts that had managed to do nothing but make the harassment, violence and fear towards them all increase tenfold. Contacting those that understood the difference between justice, vengeance and terror, the young redhead wasn't interested in attempting to solve this issue if it was going to lead to more racism, or more alienating between the humans, magi and cyborg. There had been many who agreed with the sentiment, but not quite as many who dared believe they could make a difference. As such, this evening, Kurai was there on patrol, by herself. If only the girl could show the others that there was a way without unneccesary violence.
In the distance, the revving of a motorcycle motor could be heard. It made Kurai perk up, for this sound was one she knew well, it was a sound she had been waiting for. The metal beast belonged to one devil, whom the homeless knew quite well. Without care for whom he might hurt, Damien Morraine, a soldier who had seen his fair share of the war and the relocation camps, often drove through the slums at full speed, making a thrill out of seeing how quickly he could pass from one end to the other - and how many of the homeless he could hurt in the process. The name was whispered between the homeless on a daily basis, it was a name everyone knew, for his attitude was crystal clear; Either the homeless got out of the way, or they'd get run over. In the past, he had also kicked over several of the burning barrels, creating a dangerous hazard within the slums, all for his own amusement. Today, Kurai had decided that such amusement would come to an end. The girl wore her regular outfit, although, over her face she wore a porcelain mask. Those who had seen her in the past, those who she had approached and spoken to, wouldn't have much trouble realising who she was. The attire, the long red hair, everything made it rather obvious. However, for those that she were out to punish, learning of her identity would be much harder. Waiting there, at the main entrance to the slums - Damien's favorite, she was swinging a thick metallic chain in her hands, prepared for what was to come. From the grey skies above, the first drops of water were raining down, calmly silent before the storm to come. The panic within the slums had already started, people running to the sides, falling over each other, creating an obscene amount of chaos. The revving got louder, Damien was now entering the slums, cheering loudly at his own work! Before he knew anything had happened, the metallic chain had wrapped around his torso and his elbows. With a brutal yank of her physical ability and telekinesis, the man was forcefully pulled off the motorcycle. The bike immediately crashed into a wall, sliding for a few meters before coming to an immediate halt. The loud crash had caught the majority's attention, as the were staring up at the scene that was unfolding. With the impact onto the ground and the chain restricting his movements, Damien was in no position to offer much resistance. Heart hammering away in her chest, she had actually done it. On the ground before her, she had one of the terrors of this city. The desire to lay punishment upon him, to take revenge, was overwhelming. Yanking the chain, her hands shook. It would be so easy, to hurt him. To put him through exactly what he had put everyone in the slums through.
...A deep breath left her lips, as she loudly proclaimed, so that everyone in the vicinity could clearly hear her words; "Damien Morraine, for tormenting several, and vandalising the slums, Subsume hereby places you under arrest." The drops of water were increasing by the moment, soon becoming an absolute downpour. The girl had finally done something about her frustration, and she had proven that she wasn't interested in unneccesary violence. Perhaps... Perhaps there was a day for them in the future.

Recalling the announcement and invitation to the group Subsume. Isabelle watched from a distance. Having previously stated to Kurai she would provide back up and observe how she wanted the group to operate. Something that was always best understood by any follower is that the leader sets the standard. It was easy to talk of equality and Isabelle already owed the girl her life... She great fighting potential to... Something that umbrage wanted to help develop in the magi.
Wearing a heavy coat with many pockets. A large hood covered most of her features. Umbrage was still a Hunter by profession after all. However today was one of her days off. Her visor kept low covering. Her eyes as the only thing that could be made of her face was the creepy yellow glow that can be seen when looking directly into her hood. Watching the display of authority the young girl intrigued her... And Isabelle knew she would enjoy working with her.
Stepping out of the shadows as the rain started to pour down. She watched as she stepped closer to the man. With her hands in her pockets she crouches down low as she held his head still to keep his attention on Kurai and herself. "I think it best you come quietly... The boss lady here is willing to pass a merciful judgement... At least it would be merciful compared to my standards." Isabelle realeases the man as she steps next to the magi girl. "So boss man, what's the plan from this point forward?" she asked Kurai unsure if they even had a real plan other than apprehend him.

The dream of the future you see, dissolves...
They day was winding down and long since been proving itself uneventful. She had been wandering from alleyway to alleyway, practicing up on picking up little scraps of information. A few things here and there, but nothing that stuck out very much. Save for a particular name mentioned here and there. A name Fey had ended up following a subtle trail of scornful whispers about. It sounded like a particularly troublesome local pain for this end of the slums. It was unfortunate to hear, but at the same time it was also common. Gang thugs looking to exploit the down and out, Bigoted youths out for their twisted idea of a good time, angry old men simply looking to blow off steam. When things got bad it could be a dime a dozen. [break][break] It was getting dark, the girl sighed. Night was usually when these sorts of things went down, and it seemed that would be just the case tonight. A faint reeving of an engine in the distance was the first sign. The slum dwellers certainly had very little that could make that sound. Fey tugged the hood of her dingy jacket overhead and lingered in a darkened alleyway, simply listening and giving glances about the area for now. She probably couldn't do anything to stop this, but maybe she could find out something about it. Something that could be useful in the future. Maybe she could even pull out a favor, if she got enough. [break][break] A motorcycle came zipping by, she leaned around to try and pick out any distinguishing features as it battered its way on down the streets. The girl's stomach sank, it was a disgusting sight. She hated seeing these things and being unable to do much of anything. She always had, but it had become a fact of life. Seeing that man cackling like some deranged child only made it once. Small drops of rain were beginning to fall from dull skies as cries of panic tinged the atmosphere. [break][break] Her eye kept on the bike in the distance, before a sharp change in the path drew her attention closer. Seeing the body of the man suddenly yanked from the motorcycle Fey slipped a bit further out of the alleyway. “What the...” She muttered as the bike careened off course and collided into a wall with a horrid screech. Beyond the immediate commotion she could see a few people, some watching as a figure pinned the man yanked from the bike down to the ground. [break][break] Fey tugged her hood further over head as the rain began to come down harder, slipping her hands into her pockets. She approached quietly to get a better look along with a few other frightened or curious bystanders. She had to admit she felt nervous all the same, her heart thumbing and hands quivering in her pockets. Now closer, there we're two people speaking to the man with... some strange air of authority. One of these... vigilantes, she supposed, looked somehow familiar. Fey moved in a bit closer, curiosity getting the better of her for the moment.

WORD COUNT: 1152 TAGGED: TAGGED: LYNX Umbrage had decided to stay in the background, until now. Apparently there were multiple members of Subsume in the area afterall. Looking down at the man, who still seemed completely shell shocked to the situation, she slowly turned her head to look at Umbrage. Since there were more of them there, it seemed fitting that the stronger one escorted their newfound criminal. "We're taking him to our prison at headquarters. There he'll be trialed and judged. Could you escort him, please?" From there, it was important that she, with this first open act as a group, addressed the inhabitants of Dagos. It was important that word spread, hopefully in a positive tone. The more positive people were in regards to the group she was starting, the more likely it would be that others would join the group. It all started here, on this day. From here on, there would be no going back. Either Kurai would be capable of assisting in creating a better world for humans, cyborg and magi alike, or she would die trying. The girl wasn't good at speeches, and she wasn't going to hold one. Yet, she knew she had to say something. Shouting as loud as she could, so that as many people would hear her voice, her message was short and concise.
"We are Subsume, a group dedicated towards equality for everyone, humans cyborgs and magi alike. Together with our arrival in Dagos comes justice. Fear the criminals no longer!" Perhaps in a childish world she h ad hoped for a roar of acceptance, cheering or otherwise. Instead, what met her was a group of staring faces, unsure of what they were meant to think. They needed time, they needed more encounters where they could see Subsume working for the bettering of everyone. Support from the masses wasn't won in a single day. It would be won over, perhaps, several years... "Umbrage, lets go. We'll have to make sure we're not followed." The tone in which she spoke was low enough that only Umbrage could hear her. With that, she gestured for herself and the cyborg to leave the area, hopefully before too many had the bright idea of following them around.

Hearing the boss's orders she thinks says out loud. "Well if we got room for him sure... probably better if we lose the eyes though. Can't have any unnecessary eyes following us." Getting a good grip on the man cowering before their feet. Grabbing him by the back of his collar as she stares him straight into his eyes. The piercing yellow glow of her eye reflected of his as she let a sadistic smile grow on her lips. One she was more than sure he was familiar with. "Try not to struggle... I only need one hand to break your neck after all." She chuckles a bit as her iron tight grip is kept onto him. With her coat hiding the many hidden knives she had on her person. When Kurai went to give her more public announcement to be only met by a silent crowd as they would have to turn away. "Hey boss, it's gonna take time to get your plan going... the thing you want needs momentum. So doing what we can should do... so long as word and rumors spread of our presence." Umbrage said as they continued to walk keeping her eyes behind the both of them. It was unlikely anyone would follow after witnessing a zero magi and a yellow eyed girl. Especially if they proclaim themselves in the name of justice in all of that. The group was far more insignificant than the hunters. As such any encounter right now would threaten the existence of subsume. "I'm already on it... got the best software to help in a fight to. Also try to avoid using that name whenever possible boss. Many of my co-workers know me by that name." She warns Kurai as she refrains from using that name. "Just call me... Isa... not many know me by that name." branding herself as Isa for the remainder of this job Kurai HidenkaFey Lomeli

The dream of the future you see, dissolves...
A prison and a head-quarters? Now things were beginning to sound odd with this situation at best, and down right shady at worst. The girl's eyes narrowed under her hood, keeping a careful watch and toned ear from beyond the cover of the crowed. A bit hard to hear above all the chatter, but she managed to catch the message about equality. The girl talked a big game, but she wondered how much of it was boasting. After all, there were only two on the scene at the moment. It was curious surely, and admittedly made her wonder about the entire situation. [break][break] The second of the two made a move to yank the man they had subdued up by the neck and appeared to stare him in the face. While she had little sympathy for the glorified thug the display struck her as... unsavory. For a group claiming to be enacting justice such a thing looked more like something she would have expected from a gang looking to intimidate. [break][break] Fey brought a phone from her pocket and snapped a few quick photos from behind the veil of the crowed. Not the clearest, partially obscured by the wall of bodies due to her meager height, but better than nothing. A few others had phones out either recording or snapping photos of their own making it easy enough to blend in. After a short bit the two started off walking down the street. Fey wove herself through the crowds and back into the alleyways, moving down a path following roughly the same direction.
Notes Sorry for the delay and uninspired post. bad stuff happened.
