Now what might we have here? A training facility? Indeed that it is. The grounds of t he Hunter Guild were magnificent but Jonathan had made no mistake in the purpose of his visit here, sight seeing being the last thing on his mind. He was a runic student so his presence here was already questionable. However how could a hunter refuse a friendly training 'spar'? Both guilds were at constant odds with each other for power and influence, that was simply how it is at the top of society. So when the front desk heard of his mission he was directed to this building. There have been a few visits in the past with this kind of intent so he supposed it wasn't strange, rather uncommon though he could confidently say. As he approached the doors he thought about how he was gonna advertise his intent. Jonathan was well equipped, equipped with both his focus gloves and a few sheets of well preserved paper as well as his ink and pen. Though these things meant nothing to the unaware hunter who didn't know what they were dealing with. "Hm...." With no particular plan in mind he supposed a rough greeting to get their attention should work. His usual stoic and robotic face on, he entered the den of wolves. Quietly opening the door but his voice a yell as loud as he could manage. "Hey! Any of you numbskulls want to try and beat up a University Student?! Step up if you'd please. One at a time!" His abrupt entrance was of no surprise to the more organized groups of people here, he has no doubt that the faculty have been notified of his presence already, other wise he would have to sign that damage insurqins policy thing again as well as an intensive round of questioning. "Well? Anyone?" Jonathan repeated, readying his gloves. The university student was looking for a fight, a trial, and he was promised one. He will not be denied. Thankfully this wasn't the only training facility here, he was sure he could find someone else somewhere else if need be. But he had a good feeling about this particular group of people. Umbrage

Click clack...click clack... Click clack Thud. The sound, it was a pleasant rhythm of sound she could focus on. As the knives in her had clattered as she swirled them with her fingers before practicing her propulsion throw. The combination of her enhanced strength and the propulsion to accelerate her throw had the blade whiz to break through her intended wooden target. Fragile... Both the alloy her shell had been made with as well as the target had been... fragile. Isabelle hated the feeling of weakness... she would not allow herself to die again. The job was far more dangerous the the arena she had first fought in. There was no way to stop the fighting once it had started and those that fought would do so till their last bitter breath. Too many thoughts... Isabelle let out an audible sigh as she could hear some commotion near the entrance of the courtyard to see a strange fellow mouthing off for a challenge. Isabelle thought it too entertaining to stop his loud mouth antic yet. Feeling a bit reminiscent of her first visits to the hunters guild. However she would not find herself standing for long, as though her legs had a will of their own she her stride towards the quite peculiar individual. Despite the necessity of the wolf like pack mentality, she had often found herself alone. So it felt only natural that she would respond to his call. Her eyes made sure to track his movements and his appearance the faint hints of who he is were far more apparent the closer he got. The complex markings on his gloves as well as a rather cleaner and far more organized posture. It was rare for the android to encounter a runic student, especially a full fledged one. Umbrage had sparred with a few Runics before, but they were often training to become hunters. The subtle posture of the man was far more... elegant. It was odd to describe, but he seemed to have the visual allure to draw most of the hunter to him. While it did aid him to be loud. Upon approaching him Isabelle's first response was to hold out her hand to shake "Greetings, you may call me Umbrage. I would be most eager to spar with you." She spoke in a robotic tone as well as kept her movements stiff. The battle was already starting before she had entered the arena... she curious to see how he would react to her change in demeanor on the training field. Clarence Winchester

He regarded the hand shake with an almost surgical curiosity. "Thank you, my name is Clarence Winchester, a dear pleasure it is." He responded though made no move to accept her handshake. Instead he brushed past her towards the center of the room. Stopping about halfway and turning to face her. Tightening his gloves and brushing his hair to the side. "Forgive the habit of distance, but most spars of mine function this way. Besides I'm sure a fast huntress like yourself will have no problem closing this measly, what's this? Ten feet?" Pulling a pen from his pockets he quietly tucked it on the inside of his right sleeve for easy access. The pin ensuring it's place. "Someone mind counting down, five seconds should do." A moment's notice and a hesitant count down from the audience gave Jonathan enough time to plot just what he wanted. "Five, four.... Three, two, one!" Immedietly he pointed his hand down, a holographic projection of his spell appearing on the ground under him. A complex one indeed. An ice pillar rune combined with a reverse and focus rune directing the explosion of flash freezing away from him. From the outside the pillar would appear to engulf him however truth be told he was still perfectly fine inside. As the waters were directed away from the focal point, the ground under him, with the use of the last two runes. "Let's see if I can make this interesting." He mused humorlessly. Producing a sheet of paper Jonathan applied the glue rune to the back and stuck it onto the ice in front of him. Quickly, he then drew on a 'Spin' rune on the paper, designating it to spin counter clockwise. As soon as the rune was completed the massive ice pillar began twisting on the floor, increasingly growing faster and faster, massively cracks starting to form, until breaking apart with a 'Push' rune he drew on another piece of paper. Affecting only the massive ice chunks flying in all directions. Perhaps not the most effective of strategies but definitely one that he had wanted to try for a while now. Umbrage

Peculiar, but not unexpected... Despite any such way she would introduce herself this wouldn't be the first time she was regarded with less respect than any other human, but it was to be expected a machine is still a machine. Although Isabelle couldn't help the sensation, the desire to be more. She followed the runic practicioner with her stiff robotic smile. As he spoke she followed a rhythmic repeat of clacking mettle as her hoof like steps repeated themselves. As he positioned himself a rather generous ten feet between them... on the field she's had to work far more unreliable circumstances. "This is just fine.... far better than encountering any magi shifting and moving my surroundings."
Umbrage was quick to double check her armaments as she felt her practice staff and the various types of knives, bombs, and even a few short blades within their sheaths. As her opponent, Clarence Winchester, obtained the assistance of one of her fellow hunters to initiate the start of their spar, Umbrage slide down her visor as her internal systems started up. Her eyes locked on Clarence as her kinetic predictions systems kept processing his movements. It was only a matter of time to see what this student was capable of... three two... clack... one
Isabelle stopped herself from initiating with a propulsion swing, far more curious on what her opponent was capable of than attempting to beat him down. Runics were often very tricky... and it seemed to prove fruitful as the circular wall of ice surrounded her foe. An annoyance such as this obstructed any attempt to predict the Winchester's movements. Despite these uncertainties she remained still only drawing out a single short blade. As she watched the obscured figure move within the ice... glancing to the small crowd she made note that several of them were nervous of what exactly was going on.
Isabelle had not worried on what was going to happen until she glanced back at her opponent to see the pillar of ice start to spin, crack and strangely expand as if it were breathing... it would break and her own software was confirming this as it did its best to predict the directions the shards would fly in. With little time to react she throws a couple sets of glue bombs that should dry fast enough to keep what would had been many small ice projectiles into a few large and slow ones. Having mixed in with the glue bombs a few explosives to detonate should the large ice points move with the same velocity as the smaller pieces.
Ignoring the few that shot towards her grazing against her synthetic skin as she tried to side step a few. This left a bit of her skin bleeding as a reaction of the advanced synth skin. "You ought to be careful... I would be appreciative if I didn't have to pay for collateral damage." She asked knowing full well that if anyone got her or the guild was damage with her own involvement... well she would have to partially pay for it. Glancing at their crowd a few of the hunters seemed genuinely worried the moment they saw blood.
"I must ask though... are you here to test the use of your runes or spar? If its truly the latter then I don't wish to hold myself back any longer than I have to." Isabelle knew she could put of a good fight when she desired to... but it would have been no fun if her foe didn't put in just as much effort as herself.

"Implying you were going to hold back? Especially when I wasn't going to extend that courtesy?" Clarence inquired strangely, his tone even but stressed. Not quite mad but not as composed as before. He paused, hands under his chin, thinking. "Alright then." His eyes flashed towards the huntress. "It seems I wasn't clear enough for you." Unfolding his arms he pressed his left hand forward, leaving his right hand to the side. "Hunt me like you would a magi. Ruthlessly." His eyes flashed with suddenly feriocity. Through his left hand he projected a small rune, 'Runic Sphere', 'Ice', 'Shrink', 'Delay', 'Grow'. A tiny sphere, not even a foot wide or long shot out of the rune. As it approached his opponent he'd shout out the name of the secondary size rune. He had denoted specifically the width of the sphere and increasing it as far as he could, his opponent would be facing a massive twenty foot wide ovalloid. Meanwhile with his other hand he placed a second rune on the floor directly under him. 'Pull', 'Delay'. The training room was starting to become an Arctic Styled ice field, solid chunks of ice scattered across the entirety of the floor, the temperature of the room beginning to dip as a result. Jonathan wasn't too picky about elements per se but for what he had in mind a solid element would do best. In his mind Clarence had a number of runes at his disposal for which ever counter this huntress thought she had over him. However this fight wouldn't do too well if she got close, he wasn't an idiot, he knew this already. Which is precisely why he had been fighting as he had up to now. Get close and they would suffer a swift defeat, but staying at range won't do anything for them either. I genuinely look forward to seeing how they handle this situation.Umbrage

Her opponents voice seemed to strain when he brought her decision to hold back. "You'll have to forgive me, I didn't intend to offend. However simply pushing myself into full throttle without properly gauging your abilities could severely weakened should I take a hit I could had easily avoided with proper assessment." Isabelle kept a respectful tone rarely letting her gaze move off of the runic student even as their arena descended below the crowd. It was a common procedure to ensure that stray bullets would hit a supervising crowd... and it seemed that the descent of the arena would be necessary for further practice. The moment he announced his desire, the machine couldn't help but let a crooked smile crack her cold and robotic expression. "If that's truly what you want... Time to hit overdrive." She took a moment to take a far more relaxed stance than her more battle ready stance from before. As she could feel the jolt of electricity surge through her systems heightening all of her capabilities. Watching as he shot off a small piece of ice that would grow within a moment to a far larger size moving with the same speed as the small projectile did. Jumping out of the projectiles path with combination of her hydraulic legs and propulsion system operating at a higher capacity than normal. Rolling to the side as she regains her line of sight on her foe... He was a runic magi, but like any fighter they needed to maintain a sense of balance. Without hesitation she threw three of her own projectiles... a strange sensation outside of her own systems seemed to guide her aim as she threw an explosive knife a few feet in front of him with the intent of disrupting any runes he wished to use. As the other two were a glue bomb aimed at his hands and a flash bomb aimed intended to be set off right in front of him. Before the flash bomb could go off she activated her thermals as she began to charge at him. Intending to close the distance between them. She excelled in close range combat, but she had already lost to another runic student by underestimating their ability in such a close range... she would not allow it to happen again. With the elevated walls around them the massive ice formation he had flung at the huntress promptly shattered behind her as she dodged it. However... While the Runic Student was hopeless useless in close combat, he wasn't stupid enough to let a battle go that way. Especially against hunters, who more often than not had all manner of weaponry on their person. Hunters we're speedy opponents, agile, and trained in the art of hunting things much stronger than they were. A magi's worst enemy. Precisely why he could not allow her to get close. As soon as he saw her head pop out to the side of his attack he was already preparing his counter measures. Almost instinctually, Jonathan produced a quick rune out from his outstretch arm, a simple 'Push' rune. No specifications other than that it doesn't target him or his runes. Immedietly, almost as if an explosion went off, all objects within their comparatively small arena shot out away from him towards the wall. The heavier pieces of ice scattered around him that didn't go flying off too far when the massive ice sculpture broke apart, responded this time as well, and hazardously slammed towards the walls. Assuming that the huntress was thrown back he back to the opposite wall from the andriod as quickly as he could, finding a spot devoid of ice pieces directly adjacent to it, then he would activate the rune he placed down earlier which would drag all the ice scattered around the walls including the huntress. The result being his prey being trapped against a freezing pile of ice as the rune continued to pull at her. Making her an easy target for a grenade rune he'd draw on a spare piece of paper and fling at her. However she his push rune had failed to repel the huntress for some reason, while active her projectiles would be thrown back towards her, and he'd raise his other hand to point at her, moving the other behind his back as he maintained the push rune, creating a rune consisting of, 'Encumber', 'Locate', 'Focus', and 'Grow' and firing the Runic projection forward at the huntress. The actual instructions being more complicated however, thank gods for prewritten runes. 'Locate the target which I look at, Focus/hone in on the specified target, and expand the size of the rune when within three feet.' then the actual effect of the complex rune, 'Double the affected target's weight until the name of this rune is called out by the author, "Jonathan Stiel".'. Whichever plan he ended up taking he simply could hope that either went up going the way he planned. Umbrage

Isabelle hadn't anticipated the sudden push against her initially as her overdrive allotted her the far more mental time to process what her opponent was attempting to initiate. Stopping herself mid swing she redirects her projectiles to target different points. Keeping the explosive aimed a couple of feet in front of the runic mage to keep him distracted as she ended her resistance to this strange force. Her internal gyroscope aiding her in keeping her balance as she slammed down her glue based knife into the ground. The glue quickly hardening as she fell towards the wall. Ensuring to keep herself tethered to that knife with a metal cable connected from her waist. It wasn't hard to observe that obscure effects of gravity that seemed to plague the field, but for every change there is an opportunity. Landing feet first against the wall, Isabelle is quick to use her propulsion system and hydraulic legs to move run across the wall. Not expecting another force of movement to accelerate her movement towards the runic magi. Umbrage didn't know how the runic magi intended to use this trick of theirs, but she was grateful for the opportunity to turn things around. Spotting her target as she throws several glue bombs with the aid of her enhanced strength and propulsions. With Overdrive accelerating her movements and internal processing she couldn't help but continue to feel the surge of electricity through her. A wicked grin cracked her once stoic impression as the eerie glow of yellow from behind her visor grew in intensity. It was starting become more difficult to figure if were hunter or a beast chasing after its prey now. Clarence Winchester

Jonathan wasn't thinking far enough ahead to hold his push rune until he absolutely needed it and while his pull rune activated it dragged a super pissed huntress towards him while she had been previously running across the wall. Thankfully while her body lagged to be pulled towards the rune the projectiles were almost immediately pulled towards it, their light weight easily counteracting the force of the throw. Though all could think was, "Damn, I'm dead." However that wasn't all it dragged towards it. Around the entirety of the arena lay chunks of ice, small and massive, and they all converged quickly towards the rune. Still piling onto the rune. However there wasn't anything to protect him. It wasn't much but he quickly called on a shield rune on the front of his left glove, unable to follow through with his plan to grenade the ice pile right away. His shield could take any attack this or any hunter could throw at him but his body certainly wouldn't, but it was better this than a broken rib. The magic of the rune projected an iridescent shield of mystical force just as the huntress slammed into him. He was immediately through back against the wall square against his back. Jonathan spit up bits of blood at the force of the strike, still concious but not nearly as good as he was before. Meanwhile that pull rune wouldn't relent on its force. A few feet after she crashed into him the rune almost ripped her towards an ice pile awaiting her return. As their body crashed into it the ice would shift, allowing them to fall into it like a giant pillow, similar to sinking into it. However it still held firm, not completely giving up it's shape but leaving a huntress sized imprint deep into the structure. Jonathan wheezed, coughing, their eyes blurring up with tears, however he was determined. His left arm was still alright, as his right arm took the brunt of his trist with the wall. Weakly the University student would raise his left arm, calling upon, a much more, devastating, spell from his cartridge. 'Flame Pillar, Grow', 'Focus', 'Reverse'. In one blink a massive rune of fifteen feet in diameter appeared. In the next a pillar of fire spewed forth from it like dragon breath, enveloping the entire pile of ice his former pull rune created, with the huntress dead center of the flaming mess. When the rune died down Jonathan was steadily getting to his feet. Right hand pressed against the wall while he tried to regain control of his breathing. Slow, deliberate breaths. From as far as Jonathan could assess he didn't break anything, no dislocated joints. While he had the air knocked out of his lungs he was gaining their full use slowly. He didn't feel guilty about using lethal force against a huntress, gods know they've done a lot worse to people a lot better than them, but he knew they could take it. That and he unfocused the rune just a little bit to lower it's power so it wouldn't roast them alive. "Ha... Ha... They wouldn't lose that easily would they?" He prayed to Arithelia he was wrong because he wasn't sure if he can keep going with any more fast attacks like that. Jonathan had plenty more push runes stored left for self defense but surely he wouldn't need to go that far? The student heaved another breath while as he got on both feet, right hand returning to his side as he kept the left one up and ready to cast another push rune if needed. Umbrage

It was primarily thanks her opponent's runes that Isabelle found herself charging directly towards her foe. Her enhanced strength and already increased momentum causing a hard collision against the man. Isabelle couldn't land a clean impact as she hand intended to subdue her opponent. As the force of the hit was far harder than she had anticpated as well. Feeling the sound of a plastic like crack as she began her tumble within the ice. The bits of metal thermal plating keeping the blunt damage from being too severe as she felt the bits and pieces of ice press and break layers of artificial skin. The ice shards kept concentrating around the joints of her body making it harder and harder to move. With such a restriction. The faint warmth of artificial blood started to come from the cuts within her synthetic skin.
She Gritted her teeth as she would not allow her body to be crushed beneath this. Thrashing about as best as she could to pull herself away from the cage that was closing against her. She would not allow herself to be defeated too easily. It would had only taken a precise series a gun shots to end her... and she wouldn't allow herself to be brought to her knees once more. Isabelle would not break under the pressure... she wouldn't allow herself to break any further... She clutched her knife and with a combination of her propulsions and hydraulic legs continued to aid her in pushing herself beyond the limits of an average android.
Her systems in overdrive as the piling ice started to crack and within the ravenous glow of yellow eyes could be seen. A hungry beast as breaking the cage and it would not condone its capture until something unexpected happened. A desperate attempt to end her... A scorching flame lit ablaze spiraled from underneath her. Engulfing her and her prison as she could feel the intensity of the heat. With the forceful pressure gone she stepped out the flames to greet her opponent once again. Her synthetic skin burnt and her hollow alloy cracking from the amount of pressure she was bombarded with in her attempt to break free from the ice. "If I didn't know any better, I would think you're trying to kill me." Her voice sparked an obvious tinge of irritation.
Her attacks couldn't reach him but at every point he seemed intent on pushing her to a limit that would kill... Her training and her job consistently asked and requested for captures. It was the nature of the job... of the professionals among the hunters to capture their prey alive. With her Kinetic predictions she analyzed the best places to strike and would proceed with her new plan... "If you must know... so far I've held back any attempts to kill you.... professionally its generally accepted there would be casualties among the magi we hunt, but its the mark of a true professional to capture one." Her words were empty air to distract him from her intention grabbing and activating a flash bomb in order to blind her target. Her vision switching to thermals to anticipate this change. Throwing two glue bombs at his hands and feet in order to immobilize him. Retreating and running up the closest wall to get an angled attack onto him while he had been hopefully blinded. Kicking herself off with her hydraulic legs shooting through ten feet of air preparing for her attack. Throwing a full propulsion swing and one of her deployable nets with a full propulsion swing. The hard boom of her propping the throw with a lot of force as two more thruster like boom signaled the throw of her two other glue bombs.

Jonathan looked at wide eyes towards his opponent. The blazing huntress he had been fighting emerged from his inferno essentially unscathed, and now he knew why. Their skin was in tatters and... the metal underneath was at the breaking point. Though that wasn't all he was thinking. Right now his adrenaline was pumping, his analytical mind observing for weaknesses even as his conciousness was in awe at the true nature of the huntress, their words were living rage and their stance like barely contained power. So this was what they call, fear? They started talking this time and Jonathan found it in himself to listen. What she said through him for a loop. Jonathan logically knew, this was how the world was. The Hunters were essentially the police for the supernatural, the things normal police couldn't handle, and magi just happened to fit within that description. But didn't care, who gave anyone the damn right to threat his family like animals? There were only three things that made his still heart beat, his family was one of them. As soon as he heard the huntress finish talking he flared a push rune from his outstretched hand. Throwing the huntress back towards the opposite wall as well as the flash bomb she had. In their current fragile state even if the pull rune hadn't worked before this push rune would definitely work on a damaged Android, assuming they lost enough mass. The flash bomb would go flying behind the huntress, hitting the wall with a bang. From the distance Jonathan was at the flash didn't have quite the impact it would have at close range. It forced him to blink but didn't subtract from his maintaining the push rune. "You know, we aren't too different you and I. The only thing I'd say we split off is, well... You're much more human than I am!" He growled. Pulling his supporting right hand off the wall had Jonathan slumped over a bit but he kept his aim true. With his left hand he maintained the push rune, focusing on keeping her pinned to the wall, and considering the shape they were in he knew that further attempts to move while this rune would be more damaging than before due to already being damaged. With his right however.... He reached back and slammed his right hand to the wall behind, keeping his left raised somewhat. A simple rune appeared behind him. 'Ice Pillar', 'Grow', 'Delay'. Slowly, he walked to the right, just enough to be out of reach of the rune's effect before saying, "Iz Slennus." The rune would burst to life and a massive ice pillar threw itself at the prone huntress. This time with the Grow rune he had taken special care to denote the precise length he wanted, leaving the width unchanged. As it barreled towards the huntress he was walking towards her, left arm still keeping the pressure. Just as the water from the ice pillar was about to splash and flash freeze the android it stopped inches away from her form. Just as he had planned. It was at this point he was not but five more feet away, his right hand flexed and ready to activate any number of nasty surprises should this go south. Not that it mattered at this point. Though his voice was still coarse the Runic Student didn't deter. "You know, we aren't that different you and I. We both breathe, we are alive, and we will die. However there is something that sets up apart from each other." He paused, his breath slowing. "Humans have proven themselves messy, and corrupted, unworthy of the beauties of this world. They worry about the most insignificant of things, so single minded. This is the line between us. You are so much more human, than I will ever be. Take the beauty and the cruelty of these words to heart, and prove me wrong one day." With one last scowl he switched the focus of his rune to the ice pillar to his left, immedietly the ice cracked and creaked as it split into dozens on dozens of glittering pieces shooting towards the wall, hitting it before falling as he deactivated his rune. "Congratulations huntress! This match is your victory." Jonathan declared. Umbrage
