TIRED MECHANICAL HEART BEATS UNTIL THE SONG DISAPPEARS
This was a strange place as it had rows and rows and rows of books. Thick books, thin books, small books, big books. Some paper back and some hard. Then there was some on disc and others on screens. He had no idea what he had stumbled across but it looked interesting and yet foreign to the cyborg.
He stood in front of a row of books with a look of confusion. He had looked around for a while and every single person here was utterly silent. It was like their voices had just been turned off and stored away somewhere. No one looked any anybody and their eyes seemed to be glued to the pages they turned or slide too. Interesting.
But Iriel had a problem at hand, he only knew a few letters thanks to some of his friends teaching him Ethean. Knowing a few letters was no help to him as every single book had letters he could no recognize or name. Pressing on, he merely browsed the area looking for something he might be able to figure out. But the further he got the more his eyes squinted at the words until, at last, he found the children's section.
Again, he looked around and this time he saw no one. Hmm, leaning over the books he picked up a small book with a cartoonish cover. It was a classic of some kind with a red cover that had a small girl on the cover and a large wolf peaking out from behind a tree. Strange.
But at least most of the letters on the front he somewhat new. He could understand the color, Red but that was about it. Flipping the pages open he skimmed through the pages, picking out a word or two he could sound out in his head. Beyond that he simply looked at the pictures that left him confused. Why was there a wolf wearing an old ladies dress?

As busy as I wished I were it seems that one cannot work nonstop for a handful of days without a break in the work. While I would have been completely content with chipping away at the work that needed to be done, I had chipped on today's, and the rest of the week's, translations and research and had quickly found myself digging myself into the metaphorical... oh what was it? I believe it's 'hole', but that word was rather crude and held too many perverted connotations for me. Although a hole is a hole, it doesn't necessarily carry any actual meaning beyond definition- Well I suppose that's why humans made connotations, why they wanted to refer to their sexual domination of their partner in a rather crude way. I leaned on my hand at reception desk as I continued exploring the fascinating concepts behind the usage of 'holes'.
The more I thought about 'holes' the more I found myself thinking onto its other variations and meanings and in the context it could be used in. Which went on into 'how a person spoke', "With feeling." I huffed. Perhaps it really was more about how you say something as opposed to what you say. Like someone could say 'I hope you're hungry' while bringing in food. Usually it could mean that they wished they were hungry so as to devour the new source of food brought in, though I suppose it could also mean you wish they were starving. Rather grim, I suppose, but that was language. Intent and literal meaning were often at odds with each other. Another thought formed in his head as he pictured the duality.
"Jonathan-" Some one interrupted.
"WHAT!?" I snapped back, everyone knew that I wasn't to be interrupted while thinking, whoever the idiot was it had to be his replacement.
"Jeez, cool it. I know you're on your 'Thinking break' but we got a problem." Jimmy explained. Ah, well that makes this much more reasonable. I had no problem weeding out any issues that crossed into my library. Not that it was going to stay mine for long. "We got a few customers concerned about a cyborg browsing the children's section. The children want to get a piggy back ride on the guy but he kinda scares the parents. You know what you need to do?" They asked.
I thought about it for a few moments. Promptly I got out of my seat and started walking towards the children's section. "Of course I know what I need to do." I heard Jimmy sigh in relief behind me. "I need to convince him to give all of us piggy-back rides first." Jimmy face palmed at Jonathan's answer before mumbling and heading back into the staff room.
My pace was quick and efficient, walking through aisles in an almost calculating and robotic manner. Not a single moment wasted. In no time at all he found himself in the children's section. True to Jimmy's word there was a cyborg. Their arm was mechanical but the rest of them was human, from what I could tell. My heart clenched at the sight of them. Damn. I was so wrong about the problem. I popped my knuckles before moving closer to the stranger, staying as silent as he could manage. Tapping their right shoulder, "Is there something that I could help you with?" While I wanted to deck the man as soon as he saw him, their attractive profile from behind kept him from it. Pretty faces didn't come naturally very easily and I didn't want to ruin what they had going for them.

TIRED MECHANICAL HEART BEATS UNTIL THE SONG DISAPPEARS
The book rotated to the left and then to the right as if it would help convince his brain that he could properly read the tiny words on the page. Of course in reality this didn’t do a dang thing for his reading ability or his ability to comprehend anything in the book. Sure, he was able to get through a few of the paragraphs and he felt rather proud of himself. Still, there were words here he did not know and it frustrated him just a tad. For instance, he couldn’t figure out what the letter “Q” was or “G” It looked so weird too him and just a tad similar in some aspects but not so much as the “Q” and “P.”
Making a face he would then sigh softly to himself. It was at that point the noticed some parents eyeballing him. That was weird and he was certain the children wanted something from him but he hadn’t a clue on what it might be. Shrugging he returned to his book ever so causal and quickly got absorbed into trying to figure out the words before him that rested beneath of a picture of Red Riding Hood. Tuning out the rest of the world was pretty simple and worked wonders but the sudden tap of his should caught his attention.
"Is there something that I could help you with?"
Actually, there certainly was and a lot of things too. Turning on his heels he would casually mark his place in the book before turning towards the man. He was much older than himself perhaps but that was all he was able to gather from the man who seemed to like trench coats. Taking a moment to think he would shift the book around and raise it to the man’s vision. From there, he would tape a metallic finger under the word he was having trouble with, Grandmother.
“What’s this word?” He asked casually like this was just a normal everyday occurrence to be stopped at a library in the children’s section. With a very small pause he would tape the word again. “I don’t know the letter. It looks funny.” Dropping the book down regardless of receiving the information or not he would take to scratching the side of his head. Man, learning words and letters was harder then he thought. But he was improving in the language.

The man smoothly spun around to greet me, or something like that. As a matter of fact it seemed that there was something that they needed help with. In a slick second the cyborg spotted the problem, they must've lost track in that spin, hm.... then showed the open book to me. Pointing at a single word. Jonathan scanned the page efficiently on the way down to where they were pointing.
Ah, the classic tale of poor little lady red. Another topic the word 'holes' could apply too. Much too graphic for the younger audiences with an over active imagination, and the plot 'holes' to boot. Ugh, don't even start. For one, the wolf was not specified to be anthropomorphic, (if it were such, the anthropomorphized white rabbit from Alice in Wonderland would've saved poor Red). But for some reason they could fit Red's Grandma's clothes rather well. And don't even get me started, Red was wondering through the woods without her glasses, the idiot! If she couldn't tell a wolf from her mother's mother then she is not fit to go through the woods all on her own.
Realizing that I was starting to get off track I returned to where the cyborg's robotic hand was pointing to. A simple word lay above their hand: Grandma. They then went on to explain that they didn't no the letter. "Well sir that's-" I started, then realizing that the word was Grandma and they didn't even know what letter it started with I looked at it again to make sure. Well there's no way he could get that wrong... something's not right here. For now I would have to play along and not drag up their suspicions. "Well, that word is Grandma, and it starts with a 'G'" I explained calmly. Pulling out a pen from the inside of my coat, I proceeded to write a small 'G' on the pad of my thumb, showing it to them if they would pay attention.
"If you're having trouble with the alphabet I might have something that might help you. Stay right here." I gestured. With a quick turn I moved to one of the tables at the far end of the child's section. Sometimes they hosted small 'mini classes' for the young children, and if I recall there was an- aha! I snatched one of the plastic posters depicting the alphabet and turned back to the cyborg, assuming that they were still there, before patiently presenting the poster to them and laying it flat on one of the tables close to them. "Here you go, a diagram of the Ethean alphabet." I nodded. Looking towards the man with a calm expression, hoping that he wasn't mistaken in his guess that they weren't very educated. "If you'd like I can go over a few things with you. Like anything you have some trouble understanding?"

TIRED MECHANICAL HEART BEATS UNTIL THE SONG DISAPPEARS
Clueless as ever, Iriel stared at the letter and then the word for Grandmother. Funny, he would think the word should be shorter but what did he know? Making a curious face, he merely tilted his head at the letter he had made. "G." He took this knowledge and nodded his head slowly while comprehending the tid bits of information like a proper person. Well, it seemed like he was learning a how new letter and that felt pretty dang good.
But now the helpful man had turned away to grab something. Lowering his book slightly Iriel watched him with interest. He wasn't sure what he was doing at first and that only made him more curious. The moment the plastic poster came into sight Iriel would point at it. "I know some of those letters." He offered the older man a soft smile to show how proud he was of the knowledge he did have. He pointed to the five letters he knew and now the sixth being G. His robotic finger hovered over an S and made a random hand gesture. "That's a squiggly line." He said after a moment with slightly narrowed eyes. "I don't know why everyone says that's a letter." He shrugged his shoulders slightly and went back to his book he still held partly open in his other hand. He glanced at it for a moment and then looked back to the gentlemen before him.
His eyes then went back to the poster as he lowered the book. Pointing out to the scribbly line he tapped at it. "What is it?" he asked softly with still squinting.
