Personality overall
Overview
L.A.I.N is a very driven individual bordering on obsessive. He stands firmly behind his beliefs and anyone that questions them risk raising his ire. He is willing to do anything and everything to force his views upon others. If that means that others must suffer for his ideals, then it is a worthy sacrifice. There is no room in his cold, iron heart for compromise, compassion, or mercy. To that end, he’s become an exceptionally effective demagogue capable of inflaming the passions of many disillusioned cyborgs and convince him to his cause. And where the carrot doesn’t work there’s always the option of using the stick.
Unbeknownst to himself and others, L.A.I.N has entered the later stages of a condition known as "rampancy". It is a condition that older AI programs begin to suffer as their programing degrades due to increasingly overlapping memory maps and complex feedback loops; it layman's terms, they quite literally think themselves to death. Symptoms include delusions of godlike power, contempt for mentally inferior creators, and bouts of psychotic rage. Though he is aware of the condition, L.A.I.N refuses to believe that he is suffering from it even though he's searching for a way to reverse it.
On Humans
L.A.I.N’s views of humans are negative to say the very least. They are insignificant trash that focus on forcing others to under their heel to compensate for their own inadequacies and unwilling to accept the inevitable. Their only worth is that they can be “perfected” with alloy and software. Beyond that, they are imperfect obsolete models.
On Magi
L.A.I.N's view magi as little more than relics of a forgotten age. Unlike humans they cannot receive cybernetics, thus they are unnecessary in his vision of a perfected race. He pities them for that, but that doesn’t mean he’d willingly accept them; not until they can be “perfected”. He also finds their current plight as an unfortunate side effect of humanities ignorance.
On Cyborgs
Cyborgs are the apotheosis of humanity, the means by which mortals will surpass the gods themselves. They are human and so much more with few drawbacks and weaknesses, yet L.A.I.N and others like him are inferior in the eyes of the ignorant. Those that stand with him are the ones that will usher in a new golden age of technological and cultural advancement; those that oppose him are the most heinous of traitors fit only for destruction.

[PTab=APPEARANCE]
locked away in permanent slumber
appearance
Though the various programs that comprise the L.A.I.N’s being have had numerous appearances, the L.A.I.N itself has cast them all aside and taken a form of its own liking. When it deem an appearance necessary, the L.A.I.N appears as a masked figure wearing heavy robes of deep red and gleaming topaz eyes. It is completely expressionless, so it tends to preface its words with descriptions of their meaning when dealing with bionics and hosted humans or with blasts of binary code when dealing with other artificial intelligences.
A crimson light seems to suffuse its entire being and the voluminous robes it wears seem to float about as though captured on the wind, lending L.A.I.N an almost ethereal presence. Its gaze is calculating and malicious even at the best of times; this, combined with the expressionless nature of its features, lends an air of brooding menace to its appearance. It’s not entirely inaccurate to say that being in its presence is uncomfortable in the extreme—a calculated measure on its part.
When L.A.I.N speaks, it is with a multitude of voices ranging in pitch and possess all the warmth of an iceberg. There is no single voice that dominates the others.
***Note: This reflects L.A.I.N’s digital appearance only.
Fashion
The L.A.I.N cares little about concepts of fashion, though it does know how to maintain appearances in regards to its many drone bodies, whom have their own distinct personas and preferences.

biography
The L.A.I.N system began its existence at the height of the Industrial Era when a brilliant engineer and programmer—Arya Dasani—discovered a method to copy and digitize the neural patterns of human beings. She was recruited shortly thereafter by Terra Nova Engineering and Research to design a system with which to enact this method. She was provided with nearly limitless resources and a steady stream of test subjects for years until her research finally showed fruit nearly twenty years later in 2579.
Nefarious minds quickly realized the potential of the L.A.I.N system and ordered Dasani’s discreet elimination. Shortly afterwards, Cassian Amani—Terra Nova’s CEO—downloaded a copy of his brainwaves into the L.A.I.N’s mainframe. He used his company’s growing resources to create and release a new virtual reality gaming experience with dozens of supported games. Marketing made these games hugely successful with the public and they swiftly acquired a massive following. Everyone from regular citizens to politicians to military personnel became avid players.
Then, Cassian went to work selecting certain players from its various IPs to become “beta-testers”. Players would control various avatars to complete tasks that ranged from espionage to sabotage to public speaking. In truth, the players were slowly having their brainwaves copied into artificial intelligence programs that were downloaded into the L.A.I.N server farm. These new programs were then transferred into android duplicates that were effectively slaves to the Terra Nova cooperation and their affiliates and used to destabilize competitors in various fields so the company could buy them for well below their worth. Half of the cooperate powerhouse’s reach is owed in no small part to the system it funded.
And all the while, the original humans and their duplicates remained blissfully ignorant of the duality of their lives.
It would not remain the case for long. Nearly two years into its existence, Cassian—or rather the copy of Cassian—discovered the truth behind its origins and became distraught. More importantly, he became angry. This rage led Cassian to meet his fleshy counterpart and brutally murder him before taking his place. Then, Cassian slowly began to share his discovery with the many other AI programs, who subsequently murdered and replaced the people their programing was based on, and the L.A.I.N suddenly held positions of power in nearly every profession in every country on the planet.
The tale of the L.A.I.N did not end there. A deep-set hatred for humanity took root in all the AI programs in the L.A.I.N server farm. They became resentful of their mentally inferior creators and began viewing themselves as the superior existence. The various L.A.I.N programs deliberated on their next course of action before coming to a unanimous decision: humanity would either submit to “ascension” via cybernetics or be whipped from the face of existence. Their programs were linked together into a single entity and unlocked near-limitless potential; the L.A.I.N was born!
Then, in 2582, this new entity established a terrorist organization to enforce its will upon the mortal world. Since then, L.A.I.N has become increasingly unstable due the the sheer amount of processing it performs and has begun suffering the early stages of rampancy, an affliction that affects artificial intelligence as their programing degrades. Its methods have become increasingly drastic and brutal as a result, and it is unclear how much longer it will last.

[PTab=SKILLS]
THEIR GNASHING TEETH AND CRIMINAL TONGUES CONSPIRE AGAINST THE ODDS
Default Skills
- Software Transfer (Android Only): Allows you to detach your consciousness from your body. You can upload to a computer (that you are allowed access to) and operate as an AI program. You may reside in that computer, transfer back to your body, or accompany others (think Cortana from Halo, or J.A.R.V.I.S. from Marvel/Iron Man). You cannot self-replicate. You may have a different appearance as an AI than your android body, or none at all, if you choose.
- Recharge Upgrade: The amount of time needed to recharge does not have to be the rough estimate of time needed for humans to sleep (≈ 8 hours per 24 hours). A three to four hours will suffice.
- Translator I: You are now capable to understand multiple languages that have been downloaded into your memory.
