History won't
After her father had helped reset Alex's mindset into protector mode, Alex had made good on her idea to check up on the civilians they'd managed to rescue. They weren’t going to have much longer to rest after fleeing the rioting. They were out of the heart, but not out of danger yet. A few were missing since they'd dealt with the dogs and the zero magi controlling them.
A scream came from the kitchen-
No. No, no, no, she couldn’t think of that now. Not now. The emotional weight and turmoil of thoughts remembering brought with it could wait. It would have to. Right now she had a bunch of others to look after who were probably needing the reassurance a whole lot more than she, an actually trained fighter, did.
The tears had been wiped away from her face, along with some of the blood from the reopened slash across her cheek. Though that still left a red stain on top of a now rosy cheek. Though the color from the slap was starting to fade away at this point. Besides, it was had to really distinguish from the other nicks and scraps the redhead now bore.
She shifted her shoulders warily, trying not to restart whatever had caused that horrific pain from before, as she spotted a familiar blonde head. The girl from before. Is she alright? She’d fought alongside Alex and Daniel as they’d held the dogs off, and assisted in taking down the magi behind the pack. Daniel had even given her one of his weapons to use; which she’d appeared to do well enough with.
Still, Alex couldn’t help but worry.
So she approached the girl and put on a small smile. It was tired not matter how hard Alex would try to resist, but the redhead did her best to give it warmth despite that. ”Hey.” The amazon greeted softly, alerting the girl to her presence if she hadn’t spotted her already. ”I wanted to thank you for helping us earlier. We couldn’t have done that without you. A lot of others could’ve gotten hurt too if you hadn’t been there.” A lot of others might have died too, her mind added on unhelpfully. Not now. Not now.
”How are you doing though?” The redhead asked, concern seeping visibly into her expression. ”That had been….a lot.”
