[attr="class","kikan"] It had been some time since Luca had set foot in a proper clinic. Months, for sure— although he remained uncertain as to how many. And the last time had been in Dagos, before… before his time spent in the dark, beneath the city. Before all the things he wanted to forget, and his time at the orphanage, and the riots, and… a lot of things that, when looked at all together, made his time away seem even longer. The zero magi tried not to think much about any of that as he worked. Wandering thoughts would not help the focus he needed to help heal the people here, but wander they did nonetheless. Enough time had passed since the outbreak of the riots that the worst of the violence had died down, but in their wake remained many of the wounded and dying. Even in Camlorn, where apparently things hadn’t been quite as bad, the local clinic was practically overflowing— enough so that they were taking volunteers to help, so long as they knew what they were doing. All things considered, Luca fit the bill. Of course, that didn’t mean getting his foot in the door had been all that easy. Even as one who could heal, he was still a magi, and especially now that came with a certain lack of trust and surplus of hate. On top of that, he’d had to lie to Elijah about why they had come here— as he wasn’t especially inclined to travel anywhere by himself these days, and wouldn’t have been allowed to besides. As far as the earth magi was concerned, he was only here to visit Surai, and to his credit he had done that. It was just that, after he had, Luca had also found the opportunity to slip away so he could help people to heal as well. Careful to keep his magi features hidden, with a scarf over his head and his tail tucked beneath his shirts, Luca made rounds where he was able, mostly to change bandages or bedding, as he wasn’t quite trusted with most of the tasks that involved administering medicine. Under close supervision, he used his healing magic where he could as well, although not everyone was receptive to it. The older woman shouting slurs at him as he retreated to find a patient less violently opposed to having assistance from ‘some filthy magi’ was just one example. Rynth explored the devastation of the riots had left on the town of Camlorn. Her staff back in Dagos was more than capable of handling the clean up for the shop. It held it’s ground as a formidable sanctuary once the violence had started, but Rynth’s priority was on the students of hers that weren’t able to make it to her shop. In search of those that had homes in Camlorn had only filled her with dread as she was quick to spot the bodies of students she had known as children. The grim reality was never far behind her and for now all she could was search for those that survived. With each face she recognized her heart became more heavy until one of her students had found her. With a strong sense of relief she was welcomed with a warm embrace. The formalities of relief were quick as her student was quick to inform her of the wounded that had survived the riots within the local clinic. Despite her ability as a zero magi she had no ability to heal like most of the other zero magi. Reluctant to follow, she knew that she might be able to aid those that would be in shock or great stress. Her illusion had helped her to sustain the guise of a human as she followed the direction of the medical staff. Her experience with cyborgs had very limited assistance as she was quickly able to adjust to the directions of the staff… it wasn’t until she spotted a familiar face from the corner of her eye. A magi who she had often seen in Haven, but had never attempted to address. Seeing him work was rather intriguing as he seemed to have a greater depth of medical knowledge than he was allowed to exercise. As the day progressed Rynth made sure to find an opportunity to talk to the other magi alone. Knowing that she may be of greater help to the wounded if they were able to combine their efforts. Stepping close to the other magi she cloaked them in her illusion for just a moment to speak within a whisper. “...don’t talk and pretend to be human… I’ll disguise your appearance and soothe the emotions of those that might struggle from receiving the aid. Okay?” She waited for a nod as she allowed the illusion to morph the both of them to retain a human appearance rather than a magi one. “Well Doctor, shall we get started?” She asked hoping to assist and keep the casualties to this riot to a minimum. Wherever this magi would go, so would she as she made sure to use her sympathy to keep the those that they attempted to assist as docile as possible, while maintaining their human illusion. [attr="class","ig"] [attr="class","kikan"] Luca’s work resumed as usual for a little while after his latest incident. Some patients accepted his offer of healing through magic, others refused, and a few ran him off. Either way, it was good to be doing something— to be helping where he could, and deferring to others where he couldn’t. A bit later in the day a stranger approached him. He didn’t recognize her as one of the hospital staff, or a volunteer, but until she spoke he thought perhaps she might be one of the latter who had only recently arrived. People came and went, shifts changed, and so on. However, it became quite clear that this one was anything but as she spoke to him, talking of disguising appearances and soothing emotions. “Wh—? No, wait—!” Luca started, appearing almost horrified by the mere suggestion. Too late. The illusion fell— although in his case it didn’t take that much to look human, especially with the majority of his features already concealed. Terrified that someone had seen, he looked quickly around in search of anyone who might be staring, or running off to call for help, but thankfully found none just then. “Are you out of your mind?” the younger magi hissed, turning back to face the stranger. At least they were a bit out of the way at the moment…. “The people here already know I’m not human, and you can’t just— you can’t just go around mind controlling people! N-not after everything that’s happened here. They’ll think we’re terrorists or something!” No, this was something that needed to stop. Right now. “Take it off— er— make the illusions go away. Please.”[newclass=.joker]width: 360px; height: 140px; padding: 20px; background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0); -moz-transition: 3s all; -webkit-transition: 3s all; -o-transition: 3s all; transition: 1s all;[/newclass][newclass=.ig:hover .joker]background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.4); -moz-transition: 3s all; -webkit-transition: 3s all; -o-transition: 3s all; transition: 1s all;[/newclass][newclass=.game]text-align:center; line-height: 9px; margin-top:10px;opacity:0;font:bold 10px Roboto; color: #ffffff; text-transform: uppercase; -webkit-transition-duration:.3s;transition-delay: .3s;transition-duration:.3s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass][newclass=.game a]font:bold 17px Roboto; font-weight: 900; color: #ffffff;[/newclass][newclass=.ig:hover .game]margin-top:0px;opacity:1;transition-delay: .3s; -webkit-transition-duration:.3s;transition-duration:.3s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass][newclass=.ninety]width:400px;height:180px;background-image:url(http://i.imgur.com/VcCe39g.jpg?1);[/newclass] [newclass=.kikan]width: 65px; height: 65px; border: 1px solid #0; transform: rotate(45deg); z-index: 2; margin-top: -27px; margin-bottom: -39px; filter: grayscale(100%);-webkit-filter: grayscale(100%);-moz-filter: grayscale(100%);[/newclass][newclass=.ig:hover .kikan]filter: grayscale(0%);-webkit-filter: grayscale(0%);-moz-filter: grayscale(0%); transition: 0.6s; transition-timing-function: linear;[/newclass][googlefont=Roboto][googlefont=Open+Sans]

Rynth sighed as the other magi had rejected her within an instant, but it was the way he wanted to interact with the humans and she would not get in the way of that. "If that's what you wish..." The illusion upon Luca fades, as though it were a trick of the eye if anyone had caught on. However she had attempted her illusion only when the two were secluded from the eyes of others. So no one should had seen it... "Forgive me for overstepping my bounds... I was just trying to help... if you wouldn't mind I can still try to ease the minds of others. It's what I've been doing so far with the more.... painful procedures the doctors had gotten involved with. Granted they wouldn't had involved me if they had known I was a magi." Rynth spoke a bit bitterly already knowing how violently the patients would had reacted in the pain of a certain few procedures. Discretion was always a strong suite for her, but with her abilities as they were now... she felt far more useless than useful. "And it's not mind control... anyone strong willed could resist my influence. It's more of a means to have others understand my emotions... granted I can only effect the emotions of others." Despite this she was using some sense of sympathy to ease the magi's nerves. Not wanting the situation to get too sour... although upon realizing what she was doing she held a tighter leash on her powers. The fear of rejection was far more stronger than she anticipated. "I'll follow your lead either way... if I can help convince people to accept your healing would you allow me?" Making a new offer in hopes of gaining his trust. The struggle between magi and human relations would only become more difficult in the coming years... and she knew right now that they had to make the best possible impression in order to ease the minds of those that suffered. Her crew back in Dagos was taking care of gaining the trust of magi, but she would have to do her part in helping out the humans that might even hate her. Luca Burke

[attr="class","ig"] [attr="class","kikan"] Yes, this was definitely what Luca wanted. To be seen as innocuously as possible, rather than running around “dangerous” and in disguise. A small sense of relief washed over him as the other magi’s illusion fell, but even with it gone he would likely remain tense for a good while longer. The fear of being detected and thrown out— or worse— remained. “N-no,” the younger magi tried to insist more firmly, shaking his head. “No illusions, no manipulating people. They’re not going to see it as you trying to help, if you get caught doing that. It doesn’t matter if they’re able to resist or not.” And besides that, controlling people’s emotions— even if it was to soothe— without their knowledge or permission was… it didn’t sit well with Luca. It felt wrong. Similarly, it did not feel right to have it done to himself. And though the other’s intentions may have been good, Luca mentally recoiled from her attempts to ease his own nerves, hitting back, as it were, with a small use of his own Sympathetic ability. “Stop,” he snapped, putting what force he could muster into both his tone and the emotional response he gave the still-disguised woman. Thankfully, she seemed to withdraw quickly enough. Drawing in a slow breath, he pressed a hand against his eyes for a moment, working to regain some semblance of composure. “I’m not doing anything without the person’s consent. If you would like to help me convince people, you are welcome to try— but don’t use magic. If they decide they don’t want my help, I’m not forcing them to take it, and neither should you. Alright? There are plenty of capable doctors here who can tend to them instead. We’re just volunteers here to lighten the load.” [newclass=.joker]width: 360px; height: 140px; padding: 20px; background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0); -moz-transition: 3s all; -webkit-transition: 3s all; -o-transition: 3s all; transition: 1s all;[/newclass][newclass=.ig:hover .joker]background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.4); -moz-transition: 3s all; -webkit-transition: 3s all; -o-transition: 3s all; transition: 1s all;[/newclass][newclass=.game]text-align:center; line-height: 9px; margin-top:10px;opacity:0;font:bold 10px Roboto; color: #ffffff; text-transform: uppercase; -webkit-transition-duration:.3s;transition-delay: .3s;transition-duration:.3s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass][newclass=.game a]font:bold 17px Roboto; font-weight: 900; color: #ffffff;[/newclass][newclass=.ig:hover .game]margin-top:0px;opacity:1;transition-delay: .3s; -webkit-transition-duration:.3s;transition-duration:.3s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass][newclass=.ninety]width:400px;height:180px;background-image:url(http://i.imgur.com/VcCe39g.jpg?1);[/newclass] [newclass=.kikan]width: 65px; height: 65px; border: 1px solid #0; transform: rotate(45deg); z-index: 2; margin-top: -27px; margin-bottom: -39px; filter: grayscale(100%);-webkit-filter: grayscale(100%);-moz-filter: grayscale(100%);[/newclass][newclass=.ig:hover .kikan]filter: grayscale(0%);-webkit-filter: grayscale(0%);-moz-filter: grayscale(0%); transition: 0.6s; transition-timing-function: linear;[/newclass][googlefont=Roboto][googlefont=Open+Sans]

She took time to listen to the other magi and acknowledged what the healer thought was best for the both of them. More often then not, Rynth would had actively avoided to assist anyone considering the nature of her abilities. Not many would be willing to trust her especially since how tight of a mental leash she has to keep on her abilities to keep from unintentionally effecting people around her. Usually she wouldn't have a problem restraining herself, but with the recent flash of memories she's been gaining it made. "Forgive me again I haven't been quite on top of my own abilities as of late." She said taking a bit of a breather herself before attempting to clutch onto an memory of an old life. "I could try to release my own facade, but I already know that would cause more of a commotion with the people I've already interacted with." She pondered on what she could do to work in a more relatively truthful light. It then occurred to her that she could quickly change her face to one of those from her past life. "Before I attempt to start over... what do you think its best that I be as honest as I can from here on out or just continue to hide myself?" The situation was far more tricky now that she already had involved herself with a few of the patients without their knowledge and she's very certain that they might react violently to her. "If I do have another face I could change to... it would be more obvious that I'm a magi. As for the person's identity... they've longed passed away." She said trying to work within this magi's preferences... it made her feel far more exposed than she would had cared to have ever been, but she did trust the magi in front of her to an extent. He seemed to earnestly want to assist. Although they would seem to disagree on the means by which the results were achieved. Luca Burke

[attr="class","ig"] [attr="class","kikan"] A weary frown worked its way onto Luca’s features while the other magi apologized and detailed what it was she had done at the clinic already. The situation seemed to be growing stickier by the second, and he sighed quietly as he thought over what would be the best solution, one hand rising to rub at his eyes. “No, no…” he murmured, shaking his head. “If… if the people here know you as human already, then… it’s probably better to keep it that way.” His hand fell back to his side as he looked out over the hall they stood in. Still clear, for now, but he doubted it would stay that way for much longer. They would need to get going soon. “A new face would mean you’d have to get cleared again, so just… stay as you are. But don’t use any other magic, alright?” Especially not magic that could be easily recognized. “I can show you a few things as we go, if you need me to. How to dress wounds, and… whatever else.” What little else he was allowed to do. “Okay?” Once he had a response, the younger zero magi would turn away from the disguised woman, and walk to the next room he had intended to visit before she stopped him. “F-follow me— if you want.” Whether or not she did, he would approach the nearest patient, quietly identifying himself before beginning to check the extent of the person’s injuries. The pause in her compatriots response was rather agonizing. Each second felt liked it was dragging for eternity. Until he had announced an agreement in staying hidden for the time being. With a sigh of relief she started to notice his gaze wander around them. His wariness of their surroundings was a strong reassurance that this man was in fact very cautious. " Alright then, I suppose that would be for the best." Rynth had already revealed herself to the magi... but they have yet to exchange each other's names. Maybe it would be for the best if they introduced one another later. Every other statement he had said was just a reiteration of before. He wasn't keen on the idea of her abilities being used. Especially on him... she understood this to be common, but it still seemed far more difficult not to ease the minds of those troubled by the riots. Nevertheless she nodded to everything he had said, believing it would be far better to cooperate to avoid any possible incident. Following the medical instructions wasn't too hard in fact it was similar. While they were assisting one of the willing patients... she decided to ask some questions of her fellow magi. " So... what sort of trouble did you go through during the riots..." A genuine bit of curiosity had filled her as prior to meeting the magi... this was how she got the patients to focus less on their wounds. Granted she did use sympathy to ease their minds. Having them start a conversation that could easily be the story of their life seemed to be an effective means to ease them into a more relaxed state. Luca Burke

[attr="class","ig"] [attr="class","kikan"] This patient was mercifully quiet, compared to some of the others, covered in burns that indicated they had either fought with a magi or been stuck in a fire, but still willing to receive what help he was allowed to give. In that quiet, Luca would direct his fellow volunteer to assist with changing their bandages, while he worked a little magic to help accelerate the healing process. With enough time, he might have healed them entirely, but there were others who needed healing, too. He had to be careful with how he spent his energy. Just as he was finishing up, the other magi spoke, though he did not look up immediately to respond. In fact, it wouldn’t be until he had gathered the supplies he’d been given and started to move on that he spoke. “I… was lucky,” Luca began slowly, a grimace working its way onto his features. “I was with a couple of friends when… when everything started. We ran away from the worst of it.” A twinge of guilt twisted in his heart as he admitted this, even as he tried to remind himself that what was done was done, and fleeing had been the best thing any of them could have done. “We were able to find somewhere safe to wait things out, and stayed there until it was all over.” The next patient turned him away— as did the one after that, and the one after that. They didn’t trust him, didn’t want him anywhere near them. They wouldn’t be the last, he was sure.
