Amber eyes were trained on Caroline by this part. Though the older woman looked relaxed, there was definitely a light in her gaze as Caroline told her story. And a smirk to her lips as Caroline clearly didn’t get the first part.
Once Caroline was finished giving her modified take on the first meeting between a druid and a dullahan, Shiva chuckled. ”<Yes, I’ve heard about this bear friend of hers. I would really like to meet him before I have to head back home. My little Le-Le, friends with a bear. Ha!>” The older woman shook her head as she snickered. ”<Somehow it doesn’t surprise me. I imagine it doesn’t surprise you too much any more either. Though I have to wonder what Mara would say about it. Iggy would probably get right along with him; he’s half bear himself with all that hair.>”
With a scoff amber eyes finally turned away for a while to watch the redheaded goofball completely tranced-out in the water. A smile came to her lips as they sat in silence for a while. Then Shiva sighed.
”<You know, when I first got that letter from my little Le-Le, I thought I was dreaming. Here was this girl- who is essentially my own daughter as well, whether she enjoys it our not -suddenly coming back into my life when I thought I’d lost her forever. And though I’m saddened by the loss of my Mara and Iggy, I’m glad at least one Varna still lives on.>” It came out quietly; a mixture of happiness and sadness that momentarily played across the woman’s face.
”<I just knew I had to see her again. See how she was doing for myself, not just through a sheet of paper. So after scrounging up some old contacts with friends, arranging last-second travel plans, worrying half my relatives and friends to death with my sudden desire to go back to this place, I finally got to see my little flower again. My little Le-Le.>” Now the smile had returned, soon followed by a laugh. ”<Who somehow managed to change so much, and yet not at all either. A conundrum for sure, but that’s Lelianna for you.>”
Still watching Lelianna in the water, her gaze turned back to Caroline eventually. Now a brow arched and the smile became a smirk. ”<And one of the biggest changes, I believe, was hearing about you. My little flower, having a girlfriend? I knew I had to meet you for myself, because surely someone who managed to get through that dense skull of my daughter had to be someone extraordinarily persistent. Or someone who could actually stand to be blunt enough for her to understand.>” She snickered again and shook her head.
”<And while you might not have been exactly what I imagined at first, I can’t say I disapprove. Even though there seem to be a few minor details missing from what you’ve told me,>” And there was a knowing look in the woman’s eyes as she spoke, ”<From what I’ve seen of you so far I doubt it was with ill intent in mind. What mattered most to me was how you treated and felt about my daughter. And from what I’ve seen just here today, I can safely say I have good feelings for both.>”
Her smile had warmed again with approval. Turning her head back towards lelianna, she hummed pensively. ”<Although I suppose it should be given by the flesh and blood my little Le-Le came from, I think Mara and Iggy wouldn’t mind if I act as their substitute. Especially seeing as I seem to be the only parent my little flower has left, other than this forest.>” With a gesture she indicated the wilderness surrounding them. With that, then, she glanced back at Caroline.
”<So with that in mind, I approve Caroline. I don’t think any of us could have asked for a better match. You care, you love, and you don’t seem to mind that my little Le-Le’s head is filled with flowers both inside and out.>” Now she was definitely laughing. ”And if you can stand that, then you’re as perfect as we could manage. All I ask is that you continue to care for our little druid, so that she has someone for herself when I am gone.>”
