[attr="class","ig"] [attr="class","kikan"] Thankfully, it wasn’t much of a wait between when one of the border guards ran off to find Elijah, and when the earth magi appeared with them. As before, Luca separated from the others to meet them, a small, relieved smile working its way onto his features. “Ah, h-hello, Elijah,” he answered when his name was called, coming to a stop before the older magi. Something of a squeak left his lungs as he was pulled into the rather unexpected hug, but he returned the gesture with only a little hesitation. It… had been a while, hadn’t it? Months spent in Camlorn without a word to Haven, and… the time before. Briefly, guilt welled in his chest, but it faded as he remembered why he had called Elijah here in the first place. “R-right, no, I um…” he began, glancing over to Surai, and then the magi children. Where to even begin…? “This is Surai and some of her coworkers,” Luca went on after a moment, motioning for the woman to come forward so the two could be properly introduced. Once they had, he would continue. “She works at an orphanage in Camlorn, and has been… taking care of me for the past few months… Er, the little ones with us were living there, b-but after the riots we… we thought it would be better to bring them here, where they’d be safer…” Pausing, he glanced his friend’s way to see if she had anything to add. “And… I-I was hoping you could… help us find them somewhere to stay…”[newclass=.joker]width: 360px; height: 140px; padding: 20px; background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0); -moz-transition: 3s all; -webkit-transition: 3s all; -o-transition: 3s all; transition: 1s all;[/newclass][newclass=.ig:hover .joker]background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.4); -moz-transition: 3s all; -webkit-transition: 3s all; -o-transition: 3s all; transition: 1s all;[/newclass][newclass=.game]text-align:center; line-height: 9px; margin-top:10px;opacity:0;font:bold 10px Roboto; color: #ffffff; text-transform: uppercase; -webkit-transition-duration:.3s;transition-delay: .3s;transition-duration:.3s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass][newclass=.game a]font:bold 17px Roboto; font-weight: 900; color: #ffffff;[/newclass][newclass=.ig:hover .game]margin-top:0px;opacity:1;transition-delay: .3s; -webkit-transition-duration:.3s;transition-duration:.3s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass][newclass=.ninety]width:400px;height:180px;background-image:url(http://i.imgur.com/VcCe39g.jpg?1);[/newclass] [newclass=.kikan]width: 65px; height: 65px; border: 1px solid #0; transform: rotate(45deg); z-index: 2; margin-top: -27px; margin-bottom: -39px; filter: grayscale(100%);-webkit-filter: grayscale(100%);-moz-filter: grayscale(100%);[/newclass][newclass=.ig:hover .kikan]filter: grayscale(0%);-webkit-filter: grayscale(0%);-moz-filter: grayscale(0%); transition: 0.6s; transition-timing-function: linear;[/newclass][googlefont=Roboto][googlefont=Open+Sans]

See the line where the sky meets the sea; It calls me. It’ll be alright. Gods did Surai hope that was true. Even so, she chose to be comforted by Luca’s words. Or at least push aside her concern for now while they traveled. It wouldn’t help her kids any if she looked like a nervous wreck as they got closer to this haven of Luca’s. The hand on her shoulder helped steady her a little, and she flashed the man a smile. But they still had a ways to go. So she focused back on traveling and keeping the children all together. It was getting fairly late by the time Luca said they were close. Which was definitely a good thing. Everyone, the teacher included, looked tired. Even the children were looking a little run down. Not to mention messy. Getting them baths soon was definitely going to be important once they got to their haven. Just a little bit further, right? Turns out that was true. Eventually they came to some sort of border. Surai let Luca take over the talking. She had a feeling that humans weren’t exactly supposed to be here, so she didn’t want to draw too much attention to that. instead she busied herself with checking on the kids as they waited for a man Luca apparently knew. Once Elijah (presumably) came out, the surajan watched the little exchange with a faint smile. Luca had friends here. Good. Her mind made a little note of it to be thought on later. For now, however, she approached as Luca gestured towards her. ”Thank you for meeting with us, Mr. Kingsley. And I’m sorry we came in so suddenly but…" She trailed off as Luca took over once more and explained their situation. it was probably best for him to do so since they knew each other. Higher chance for them not to be turned away. He did explain fairly well, but she only added a small elaboration to add onto it. ”We didn’t want them getting persecuted or targeted by those who supported the recent law. The riots already proved there were horrible consequences for that mistake, and we don’t want them getting hurt because of it." Other than that, she had nothing else to add herself.

Don't fight me on this if anything you should be happy we have such nice security to keep kids safe Nothin' else seems to hurt like the smile on your face "... taking care of me for the past few months ..."
That. That was going to have to be inquired of at a later time. But for now he filed it away. Not at border control with apparently a couple dozen children watching on.
The earth magi would listen patiently. The story made sense, it came from a Magi he trusted. The children that stood behind them were as in need as any other magi who approached the Haven of their kind. "Understandable." The older man would nod his head, his dreads swaying with the gentle motion. "Of course we can. Our fostering and adoption laws are in place for that purpose. The city will never turn away a young one, whether it's one or many. We'll have no problem with finding them all a place to call home."
Haven had its flaws and varying opinions. One didn't have to look farther than Elijah's own family to find an example of that. But regardless of what Elijah and Cherche would yell at each other over, much like the rest of the city, it had a powerful sense of unity on what could be considered the most important issues. With the genocide eight years ago there were many trials that faced their people. The wounded, the orphaned, the traumatized. Strict laws had been passed unanimously concerning all the above and more. This place was above all one of healing for a reason.
"Border control will of course have to go through everyone's belongings. The usual, general policy for all newcomers." Elijah would smile lightly as he gave a motion with his right hand. The gate would be risen upon this act. A few of the guards would all wear kind smiles and would accompany soft tones to give simple instructions to the children and the other magi workers.
However for Elijah he would stay right where he was. "Honestly you probably would have been allowed through immediately to begin processing if there wasn't a human among your numbers." The statement would be made matter-of-fact-ly. No insult meant by it. It was a simple fact. "I was told you have at least one human of adult age with you?" The question would be directed to Luca, whom would confirm the one human presence and the fact he happened to be standing next to her.
The MLM leader's chin would tilt accordingly to give the perceived polite appearance of meeting eye contact. The fact the man wore sunglasses at this time of day was probably telling enough that he probably had a sight deficiency. But nevertheless he would be courteous. For now. Unless the situation demanded it otherwise. "I'm sure I don't have to go into too much detail in explaining why we're going to have to ask you to stay behind for a bit more screening than the others. If you have no ill intent and are not associated with those that wish our people extinct, you'll be released within two hours I'd say. Our team is very efficient in what they do."

[attr="class","ig"] [attr="class","kikan"] It was no small relief to hear that Elijah could indeed assist them, and that there were even laws in place for this sort of thing. They weren’t on their own here, and the little ones were sure to be well taken care of, when all was said and done. Luca almost smiled at that. However, there were a couple things that didn’t quite settle well with him, too. Going through everyone’s belongings, putting his friend through a screening just because she was human… Though he didn’t protest aloud, surely they could have been afforded at least a little trust. “Er, r-right…” he murmured, eyeing the guards as they emerged and approached the children. At least they seemed to be going about it gently, and no one seemed especially inclined to protest. Deep blue eyes flicked back to Elijah as he stifled a wince, then shot a glance toward Surai to gauge her reaction. How was she taking this, he wondered? Was this okay? “That… that would be Surai,” Luca informed the elder magi when he asked after the human in their numbers. A part of him wanted to protest that of course she had no ill intent. Surai was a good person. She’d never do anything to hurt the people of Haven. But… if this was the rule then… “I… I could stay with you,” he offered quietly, biting his lip. “Er, u-until you’ve passed the screening. If… if you want…” He’d do his best not to get in the way, but it seemed to him as though it might help to at least have a friend in the room. See the line where the sky meets the sea; It calls me. They would take in the kids. Oh thank Irilys. An unseen weight lifted from Surai’s shoulders. Let all the trials and tribulations come as they may, but at least her children were going to have a home here. One that was (hopefully) safer than the one back in Camlorn currently. After that, nothing else seemed to matter much. Or at the very least not as much. It flowed around Surai like the waters of a stream in light of her earlier concern. Even the security demands; they were to be expected anyways. So while Surai listened to the man talking, she also motioned for her coworkers to assist in getting the kids within the gates. Fortunately no one was making much of a fuss over being searched. The teacher already had a feeling she was going to be going through a special check of some sort. After all, she was a human amongst a hidden magi city made especially to keep away from her kind. It had the potential to sting, but not at the moment. She was satisfied the children could get in easier. ”Yes, that would be me sir." Surai confirmed as Luca indicated her. She wasn’t particularly bothered at being singled out. After all she understood the reason behind it. The only irking thing about the situation was how long she’d be delayed. However her coworkers were there to easily make up for her absence. So the annoyance had nothing to cling onto. Relief and exhaustion kept her too far gone from being irritated. ”I completely understand. Thank you for letting the children stay here." Real, genuine gratitude was in her voice, past the weariness of it. That had been the priority. Surai was surprised, however, when Luca offered to stay with her. Though it was certainly a kind one. With a little but warm smile, she reached out to grasp his hand and give it a reassuring squeeze. ”Only if you want, Luca. I can understand the precaution: I’m a human in a place where I really shouldn’t be." Her smile turned into a bit of a smirk, but settled back once she squeezed his hand again. ”But I’ll be fine on my own if you want to go with the kids. I’ve been in worse situations; I can handle it. The kids could use some comfort more than I could now. But thank you, Luca." With a final squeeze she dropped his hand and turned her attention back to Elijah. Already she could tell there was something about his eyes, but she wasn’t going to comment on it. He seemed to be getting around just fine. ”I’d love to start my screening as soon as I’m able to so I can get back to the kids, sir." The surajan said politely. The sooner they got started, the sooner she could get back to caring for her little ones. Gods knew they’d need it right now.

NPC Dhristi Kuar Zero Magi | MLM Agent
"It can begin now then." Elijah would say with a small smile, another hand waving over another agent. But this time in their direction. "Once the screening is finished you are free to go where ever you wish to in the city. I'm sure they will be able to either escort you or give you directions on where the children will be tonight." During the time Luca and Surai gave their temporary goodbye's, the MLM agent would come to stand beside her boss. Well, 'stand' being a term to describe it.
"You can come with me when you're ready." Dhristi would say, her voice thickly draped in a Western Surajan accent. The magi wore a sari as was traditional wear on her side of the heterogeneous home country. Once the human inferred she was in fact prepared, the zero magi would guide the way. Her hips swayed rhythmically as her lower half slithered her way back through the gate and towards one of the lone buildings built into the curvature of a partially above-ground colossal root.
Along the way they would pass the children having their belongings searched on the off chance such an innocent could have been unknowingly used to smuggle in a bomb. All of the guards were kind, most of them making a game out of the act. They would ask the children questions about their stuffed animals and which shirt was their favorite. It was apparent this was not their first time performing such an act with ones so young. A fact that was rather saddening when one stopped to think about it.
The top side of Dhristi's snake-like lower half would be covered in henna tattoos, very similar to the designs covering her arms. It seemed she had gotten bored during her lengthy shift a few days and so had drawn upon herself. An act she was allowed to do. The MLM understood how boring a border patrol could be. Her job was mostly for interrogation and screening anyways.
She would enter the building first, the tip of her tail decorated in gold bangles that matched her bracelets. "You traveled far?" She would ask as they 'walked' down the short hallway and would enter the third door on the right. The room was a simple one. One table. Two chairs, one on either side, and a machine in the corner of the room. Dhristi would nod politely to the answer Surai gave as she motioned for the human to have a seat in the furthest away chair. Once seated, Dhristi would make her way to the machine to begin collecting wires.
"I am not sure on everything you were told so I will give you the brief explanation." The tip of the magi's long tail would curl around the door handle, closing it effectively. "It is my job to make sure you are not here to cause any harm. So I will ask you questions, you will answer and between my own abilities coupled with this machine's, I will determine if you are or not. Okay?" Upon receiving an affirmative Dhristi would begin applying them to the human with a well-practiced manner. This suction cups went to the temples. These were hooked around the human's chest. And finally these were applied to the tip of the middle finger --
... Dhristi breathed a laugh, her facial jewelry jingling from the action. "Well, that just made this job a breeze." Giving Surai a freshly sincere smile she would showcase her own inner wrist. "The Moon would not have sent you to cause disarray, no?" Sure enough, hidden in between Henna designs was the familiar tattoo of the Vicis Crux.

Frey gave me permission to assume Luca left.
Figured doing an NPC post was most fair given the fact Elijah wasn't really needed for most of it. Plus I thought it was a cute idea for this beautiful fricking fc to be Vicis Crux too.

[attr="class","ig"] [attr="class","kikan"] “I…” The choice was a difficult one, as it turned out. And Surai had a fair point. This was all so new to everyone but him, and the young ones especially could use help adjusting… but he didn’t want to leave his friend all alone, either. He trusted Elijah, of course, and his agents by extension, but it still didn’t quite sit well with him. In the end, however, he decided that Surai was right. She was a capable woman, and could handle things on her own. The kids needed comfort, and whatever other assistance he could provide. “W-well… alright… as— as long as you’re sure…” But of course she was. He could see the determination in the woman’s face. She’d be just fine. “I’ll see you soon,” Luca assured, trying to sound more confident than he typically was. Then, with one last look between Surai and Elijah, he left the two to it, returning to the children and the other caretakers while another magi came to escort his friend away. Even as he helped with the search, keeping the little ones calm and willing to play along, he couldn’t help but watch as Surai disappeared with the snake magi. She’d be alright, he knew, and he desperately tried to assure himself of that fact as time passed. Surai was fine, and she’d be back soon. Until then, he would keep helping with the children, until the border guards were satisfied and could let them into Haven at last. See the line where the sky meets the sea; It calls me. "Understood, sir." Surai replied before turning to Luca to say farewell. They’d see each other later, considering Surai had absolutely no malicious intent. She gave him a smile. ”You take care of yourself and the kids, alright? I’ll see you soon." The teacher agreed. As he walked off to presumably join the children getting searched, Surai turned her attention back to see…Oh a fellow surajan! She’d recognize that accent anywhere. And somehow she seemed…faintly familiar. The teacher had to blink in mild surprise- not from the woman’s appearance, but rather that she’d met someone else from her home country here. With all the insanity that had transpired so recently, it just struck her as odd. Certainly not something she expected. Nonetheless she nodded and followed along with the other woman. As they passed by the children, Surai felt her heart ease a little more. They certainly seemed friendly with them- even joking around. Surai spotted a few smiles on the faces of her little ones. It was a welcome sight, and she felt a little more assured now that everything would be fine. Though there would certainly be a lot of work to do once she was done going through the security check. While she had no doubt these people were capable (they’d kept this place hidden for how long), she couldn’t help but…worry. These were still her kids, despite the fact she was going to have to let them go now and stay here. But perhaps especially because of that, she just wanted to help them before she had to go. However she needed to (somehow) put that aside for the time being so she could at least get through this part of the journey as fast as possible. And with the least amount of impatience that Surai could muster for the time being. They’re safe now. At least they’re safe now. Was the fact Surai kept reminding herself of to keep her restlessness down. Fortunately her escort was kind enough to distract her with conversation. ”A bit, though most of it was fortunately on a bus." She replied politely. Thank goodness they hadn’t had to walk the whole way from Camlorn to Haven. It would’ve made the already disheartening trip even worse. They eded up inside of a room with a machine Surai only could assume was a lie detector. Suddenly she was feeling like the suspect in an old cop show. The idea nearly made her laugh, but she held it in. It must’ve been her exhaustion starting to get to her. She nodded her head along with what Dhristi was saying, completely complying with whatever the magi said she needed to do. However when she got to Surai’s wrist- The teacher blinked and looked at her “interviewer.” Was that….As soon as the familiar tattoo came into view, Surai sagged with relief. Looks like she wasn’t alone here after all. With pure relief at seeing a fellow Crux member, Surai couldn’t help but give the other woman a hug. ”Not at all, sister." She sighed before letting the other woman go. Though the exhaustion was still in her expression, it had overall relaxed since Dhristi had revealed her tattoo. ”I’m only here to make sure my children are ok. But I am more than happy to know the Moon has others here. I only wish we would have met under better circumstances. In a lot of different ways." The teacher responded drily with a chuckle. ”But I’ve got a few questions to answer, right? Before we begin though, may I ask your name?"638 WORDS FOR Rinny ― Perks of being in a secret society
