It was raining on the day the Hunter would return to the ruins of the old camp, but that wouldn’t stop him. There was prey to be had here, weak and easy pickings for the sake of some unspoken quest for vengeance over a brother lost. Nor would the weather stop the lone beetle magi who came to grieve there, mourning loved ones lost in the years they had been trapped in this horrible place. Just like the others, he was completely unaware he was being watched while he found a spot to pray and knelt. He would be an easy mark, too… Only, there was a third individual lurking in the ruins today, who had arrived before either to sit and wait for the Hunter. There had been rumors lately, about a Hunter who stalked one of the old camps for any magi unfortunate enough to stumble across him, and when Nobu had caught wind of these, he had chosen to investigate. It had taken a few days for his search to yield any fruit, however. The Hunter had no regular pattern of appearances, as far as he knew, and passing the time elsewhere might have made for more victims. So instead he had brought supplies enough to last a week, and waited, watching for any sign of the human filth to appear. And so he had, stalking through the camp after the unfortunate beetle magi. Nobu made his move just as the Hunter prepared to strike, trapping him in a mass of rainwater just as he drew his weapon. The lion fish magi watched him struggle for a while, grinning wickedly from his hiding place behind the remains of a brick wall, before summoning a bit more of his power to boil the little parasite alive. His screams came out as bubbles, the sound mostly lost to the water while the beetle magi, finally aware of the situation, quickly fled the scene. Moments later, the Hunter was dead, and fell heavily to the ground as Nobu released his body at last. It was with a grim satisfaction that he left the scene, certain that the threat would be over once and for all, as soon as the rain washed away his scent and the local wildlife dealt with the corpse that remained. | Reach out your hands Don't turn your back Don't walk away How in the world Can I wish for this? Never to be torn apart Close to you 'Til the last beat Of my heart | The hunter wasn’t the only one at the scene today. Today a younger sister had come to accompany her brother on his journey to the camps. She had wanted to go and pay respect to those that had died there, and her brother had, for some reason, insisted on going with her. The baker had tried to shake him from her trail, but he was a hunter. There really was no reason for her to try and lose him. She didn’t expect there to be any magi at the camp, but she knew there were a few graves. She would place fresh flowers and make sure they were tended to. At least one human had to be decent, had to apologize for the mistakes that her kind had made. As she had gone to wander the camps where magi were once herded like cattle, Kelri’s stance was nothing short of devastating. This wasn’t right and she knew it. Her brother had separated from her once they reached the camp, saying something about patrolling the area. She didn’t understand why, there were no magi, and no one to pose a threat. So she disappeared to the graveyard section of the disjointed camp. Fletcher, on the other hand, had disappeared to continue his hunt. Magi would pay for what had happened to his brother. He hadn’t deserved to die. Twice the amount of magi would die for the entire race’s crimes against his family and him. They deserved it, nothing more than cockroaches, they kept staying alive, no matter how many he exterminated. When his sister had decided to venture out into this place, he had tagged along. Maybe he would come across a magi that was easy prey. And he did. A beetle traited, grotesque looking abomination of magi was kneeling. Fool, he left himself open. It didn’t matter though, not really. The eldest of the Hunter brother’s was grieving and mourning his brother’s death. This magi would make an excellent sacrifice to the goddess in vengeance for his brother’s death. It was raining, really the perfect time to kill this magi. The stench of blood would not sully his clothes. Fletcher went for a beheading from the behind and was surprised to find himself trapped in a mass of rainwater. Shit, there was another magi. Probably one on the outlook. How could he had been so stupid? Struggling he slashed his sword at the edge of the bubble trying to get some air into his prison. It would indeed fail, and he would start to scream as the water entered his ears, nose, mouth and finally his lungs. His death was silent yet extremely painful. The fallen hunter would not give up so easily though, his soul observing the magi who was leaving. He would haunt him for this. Vengeance would be his, even in death. Kelri would slowly return to the spot where she had left her brother only to find his corpse. Rushing towards him she would check to see if he was alive before speed dialing her father. The emotions that would overtake her would be distraught and sadness as she cried, holding her brother until the retired police captain arrived. She didn’t know who had killed her brother, or why, but he was dead in her arms. Time SkipA month would pass, the funeral held, the ceremonies had, the tree planted, and Kelri was once again back at the shutdown concentration camp. Now she not only was here to visit the graves of the fallen magi, but also the place her brother had fell as well. Her mother had been heartbroken, and her father set in his grim ways. The girl had just escaped to this place of sorrow to pay her respects, question why, and wonder at what her brother would have done if he wasn't a hunter. The cause of his death was revealed to be drowning, so she could only assume that he had come into contact with a magi and had foolishly decided it was worth the hunt. Stupid Fletcher, it was just like him. Going on about revenge and vengeance. What had it gotten him? Killed. She could only hope that he had passed onto another life peacefully and had not made problems for her god. Tatara would not be pleased if another of the Anderson's were to give him trouble. The young baker would smile a grim smile before moving to the spot he had fallen and posing a question, "Why did you let your silly idea of revenge consume you?" The tears would start to flow as she would huddle int a ball and sob. "Now two of my brother's are dead because of me, and no one knows..." She wasn't talking to anyone in particular, only really to herself, but she needed to talk. If not the greif would consume her again.

Here comes a killer whale
In the month that had passed since his brief encounter with the filth stalking the abandoned camp, strange events had been dogging his every step. They had been small things, at first— a strange chill here, an inexplicable sense of dread there— but as time went on they grew less and less harmless. Strange nightmares kept Nobu from sleep, and he could swear he had begun seeing things, just on the edge of his vision, although of course these shadows and flickers disappeared the second he turned to look. Most recently, there had even been an incident with a flying rock that had struck him in the face, although whoever had thrown it was nowhere to be found when he looked.
Someone was following him. Of that much, the lion fish magi was growing increasingly certain, and as such he had chosen not to return to Haven until the issue was dealt with. Instead, he had wandered the rest of Ethea, stopping in Dagos and Camlorn for a time before eventually his aimless travels took him here, back to the ruins where he was certain all this had started. But here, his paranoia could only grow. The shadows were more frequent, and every now and then there must surely have been a sinister whisper beneath the whistling wind, goading him onward.
Or was that simply his exhaustion playing tricks on him? Nobu couldn’t be sure anymore, not with the way his fatigue slowed his body and tugged at his dark-ringed eyes to shut, only to present him with more nightmarish visions the second he relented. But here, in this empty ruin of hell… here felt like the right place to be, so that this could all come to an end.
There! Another shadow! Whipping around, the water magi drew on the water in the air, lashing out with a whip of his creation to strike a crumbling wall. But there was nothing there, no one hiding behind it. “Show yourself, coward,” he hissed, lips curling into a snarl as he drew his whip back, “And I will make your death quick.” Nothing. Snorting quietly, he stalked forward, wandering the maze of rubble and ruin in search of… something. Anything, as long as it meant putting an end to the torment he had endured these past weeks. | out of character | Muse

| Reach out your hands Don't turn your back Don't walk away How in the world Can I wish for this? Never to be torn apart Close to you 'Til the last beat Of my heart | Kelri was someone who really did care about people. That was what made it so hard for her, the caring. The caring consumed her and it hurt most of the time. Magi shouldn’t be killed because of who they are, and humans should be ashamed of how Magi were treated. The girl was sure of this fact. It didn’t help that her family was who they were. They harbored a need for vengeance and revenge and they knew that they were going to get it. One way or another. Her mother hated that she had lost her son. Kelri hated that she had lost two of her brothers. She hated that she was the one who killed them. If she hadn’t decided to come to offer her respects, then her brother wouldn’t have insisted on following her, and then he wouldn’t be dead. She could only hope that he had moved on swiftly and quietly. Jasper hadn’t but she had hope for Fletcher. So Kelri had come to grieve and want for another life. One where her brothers weren’t assholes and they didn’t feel superior to magi. She wanted a life where Magi and Humans were considered equals in the world that they lived it. It was hard for her to imagine it, buts she was trying. Curled up in her ball, a whisper came out of her. “I’m so sorry brother, I’m sorry.” She was sorry. She was sorry and angry and sad. This loss was hard. She had been crouched down behind a wall when it began to crumble more. Startled out of her anguish the woman stood, turning towards the wall, wiping her tears. What was going on. “I didn’t mean anything… please don’t kill me.” The voice came out scraggly and hoarse. It was evident that she had been crying. “wait…” Didn’t she know this magi? Getting a better glimpse of him Kelri wiped up at her eyes again. “I didn’t know you were there. I’m sorry.” Her head hung and she moved to take a step back from the magi in front her her. She didn’t want any more death to haunt her family.

Here comes a killer whale
There. A head poked out from behind the ruins of some building or other, and Nobu reacted by raising more watery tendrils, coiled to strike at a moment’s notice. It was only an odd sense of familiarity that stopped him from lashing out a second time, and even then his hesitation only just barely won out.
It took him a moment to recognize the human who had appeared, but when he did his expression only darkened further. Though she may not have been openly hostile toward him in their first meeting, her presence was no more welcome in this second encounter. “… Once again you appear where you should not be.” Exhausted and irritated as he was, her condition was mostly lost on him, although it was unlikely he’d have been much warmer in addressing her anyway. No human was deserving of such, even one who had been grieving only moments before.
After a moment, the water fell, dropped with little care for whether or not Kelri happened in the way as it splashed back down into the mud. She was not his quarry here, so he felt less inclined to try killing her than he might have otherwise. What energy he had left, he needed to save for whatever had been hounding him all this time, so that he could thoroughly enjoy destroying it.
Nobu kept moving, but paused for a moment as he neared the human woman, casting her a weary, sidelong look. “You should leave. These ruins are no place for your kind.” | out of character | Muse

| Reach out your hands Don't turn your back Don't walk away How in the world Can I wish for this? Never to be torn apart Close to you 'Til the last beat Of my heart | Kelri would watch as the magi would tense as her head poked out from behind the wall. Why was he here? She didn’t understand it, and quite frankly she didn’t really want to see him on this day. Her brother had died about a month ago, and she was not emotionally ready for another meeting with a magi who seemed to absolutely hate her, no matter what she did. Kelri had recognized him immediately, and although the details of the night had been a little foggy, it wasn’t hard to understand exactly what had happened. She got the gist of it fairly quickly after all. She was just a stupid human after all. There was nothing she could do to change that, and this magi seemed to loathe her for it. It made her uneasy the more she thought about it and the more time she spent in his presence. “I’m here in mourning.” The girl wouldn’t be entirely forthright with why she was there, but it was all the water magi would get in response. The young baker shivered. It seemed that as the water magi had dropped his water on top of her. It was raining, so it didn’t really make that much of a difference, but it still was cold to the baker. She was feeling cold, numb almost. But, there seemed to be something off. She couldn’t quite place it, not really, but there was something that was making her have a chill. She would watch as the magi stared at her. Hopefully he would move on soon. “I…” The baker would look towards the magi and gasp. She had thought she had seen Fletcher for a moment. That was quite odd really, it was, and she didn’t know quite what to make of it. Ever since she had received a visit from the strange magi Kelri had been sort of… sensitive to paranormal matters. “Fletcher…?” The name would be whispered and her face would go pale as she stared at the magi, well not really, she was looking past him, seeing something that wasn’t there. Gulping she would look towards the magi. “Sorry, I thought I saw someone I knew.” Her head would hang and she would take a shaky breath. “I only came to give my condolences.” It was true. That was the original reason why she had come. Now she came to grieve for a stupid lost family member who couldn’t get his head out of the idea of revenge and into the idea of actually being a decent human being. It really was something that she regretted, her inability to change her brother’s actions. His pride had gotten him killed and she wasn’t okay with it.

Here comes a killer whale
Nobu burst out laughing almost immediately after the brunette answered him, barking out a cold sound lacking any semblance of true mirth. A human in mourning? Here? “What could you possibly have to mourn here?” The very idea felt almost repulsive— a corruption of all that had been suffered and lost here at the hands of her kind. No human had something to mourn in this place, no matter how much they clung to their empty sense of pity and guilt.
Ignoring shivers and discomfort, the lion fish magi was fully prepared to disregard the woman entirely until she startled. A name that meant nothing to him reached his ears, and he turned to look at the place the brunette’s eyes seemed to be fixed on behind him, only to find nothing there.
Snorting quietly, he started forward again, moving to brush abruptly by the human woman intruding on this place. Her hallucinations were of as little interest to Nobu as the rest of their conversation, and he would not waste his time any further on either if he could help it. “Your condolences are empty and meaningless,” he told her sharply, sparing her one last glare before he passed her by.
However, he did not make it far before a fast-moving blur on the edge of his vision drew his attention. Hissing, he raised a thick tendril of water to bat the thing from the air before it could collide with his head, staring after the chunk of rubble for a moment before casting his gaze about in search of the source. | out of character | Muse

| Reach out your hands Don't turn your back Don't walk away How in the world Can I wish for this? Never to be torn apart Close to you 'Til the last beat Of my heart | Kelri would frown at the magi that seemed only to mock her and her words. Was there no reasoning with him? Either way, she gave her answer, “My brother died here.” There, that was a simple enough reason to have her be mourning here. “Besides, it is needed to have respect for the dead, no matter what race they were in life. A soul is not bound by races in death.” It was one of Tatara’s main teachings and as a priestess of the God of Life and Death, Kelri knew it well. “I will only be but a moment, and then I will leave.” She wasn’t looking to start a fight, and she wasn’t looking to have conflict. She only wanted to keep her mourning to herself. That was until she saw something, no someone a glimpse of her brother. It was something that she was not expecting and it elicited a gasp from her. The baker couldn’t believe it. What was her brother doing with this magi? He hated magi. This didn’t make sense. Kelri’s face scrunched up in contemplation, her eyebrows furrowed and mouth pursed. When she focused she could catch a glimpse of something that looked like her brother, it was looming, and disfigured, something that was unlike him in real life, yet eerily similar. The baker would rub her forehead as she thought about what this meant. Oh, gods, it was just like another of her brothers to not pass on peacefully. The baker sighed and watched the scene unfold in front of her. The rabble of the ruins would be hurled at the magi’s head, a water tendril lashed out. The temperature would drop considerably, and kelri could feel the hair on her arms raised in defense. Gods she didn’t want to do this. Not again. “Brother…” Her words would fall flat as she would be lifted into the air and thrown against a wall. Oh gods, everything hurt. “That’s not very nice brother!” She would scowl at the space that was directly behind Nobu, and pull the baking spoon out of her purse. “Magi, it appears you are being haunted.” Frowning in the general direction of the magi Kelri would shake her head. “Fletcher, calm down you don’t need to..” She would watch as the magi got lifted into the air and flung towards one of the broken walls of stone. “This is not the time!” Sprinting over towards the magi Kelri would kneel down and glare at the direction that her brother was in. “How long has this been going on?” If the magi was being haunted by who she thought would be haunting him, then this would not be easy. Then again, when was her family ever easy?

Here comes a killer whale
Were she a magi, Kelri’s words might have earned a bit of sympathy from Nobu. He remembered the pain of the camps very clearly, and knew the damage they had inflicted on so many others of his kind. A human, though, could only have died here for one reason. “Every last human that died here deserved it, after everything they’d done,” he hissed, expression curdling with disgust as he searched for his assailant. “You should leave before you join them.”
Still nothing. Not even the barest hint of whatever had been hounding him. But he would find it, whatever it was, and when he did—
The brunette’s gasp drew a sharp look from the water magi before he turned to follow her gaze, only to find nothing but dust and rubble. Grumbling to himself, Nobu was about to disregard the woman and whatever other inane speeches she had in store when out of the corner of her eye he caught sight of her being lifted into the air and hurled into a wall.
Moments later, the same was done to him, and while he tried to cushion the impact with a quickly-summoned bubble of water, the barrier only did so much, and burst before he hit the ground.
Groaning, he began to pick himself up as Kelri rushed over, glaring when she got too close. Haunted. What an idiotic idea. Ghosts were just stories— tales made up to frighten children. It was more likely a zero magi was responsible for this— one who was a powerful illusionist, to hide so well. Although why was a mystery to him. His enemies among magi were few, and nothing had happened recently to elicit any attacks like this…
How long? Nobu’s gaze flicked briefly in the human’s direction as he brushed some of the dirt from his clothing and skin. “… A month,” he muttered, pulling the water he had summoned into a thick ring around him in preparation. “What do you care?” | out of character | Muse

| Reach out your hands Don't turn your back Don't walk away How in the world Can I wish for this? Never to be torn apart Close to you 'Til the last beat Of my heart | Kelri didn’t really expect any sympathy from this particular magi. Not really, but she was allowed to mourn, and she wasn’t going to let this stuck up water man take that away from her. She may normally be all smiles, but not when it came to death and destruction. This wasn’t a good idea for anyone, let alone someone who was in mourning. “You’ve made yourself quite clear.” The words were whispered, but they still held themselves in a sense of power. She was about to leave before her blasted brother decided to be as much of a pain in death as he was in life. So this is where her brother’s soul had been hiding, the sprites had been whispering, but Kelri hadn’t had any definitive information until now. Until she was hauled into a crumbling wall. Gods be damned, her brother was going to listen to her and stop right this instant. If he didn’t Kelri would be giving him a lecture that would equal all of her grandmother’s combined. Though, did that mean… she sighed as she pieced together what had happened a month ago. If her brother was haunting someone it meant that someone was a person that he held a grudge against. It was entirely possible that this magi had killed Fletcher. It would also explain why she watched the magi get flung into a wall himself. She steeled herself as she made her way over to the magi. “Look, souls exist right, well a ghost is a soul that decides not to move on for one reason or another.” She would wince as the temperature would drop into chilling ranges. “My thought would be that this particular soul is a vengeful one.” She glared at the air around the two of them looking for her brother. It was important to make sure to not be caught off guard with her brother, particularly when he was in a mood. No sooner had she looked around nervously when turning she would see her brother’s apparition. This time she was almost positive that Nobu could see it too. Damns, her brother sure was one nasty spirit, his face contorted into a shit-eating grin and his bones poking out of his shoulders. All of this was accompanied by the fact that he was blue. Literally blue. Turning Kelri fought the urge to throw up, and instead swallowed it down. “I care because of two reasons, the first being that this is something that I’m apparently supposed to do thanks to Tatara and all poofing into my bakery shop and giving me a peach pit baking spoon thing!” It would be evident the frustration in her voice as she scowled, “The second is that I’m pretty sure you killed my brother and he’s the one haunting you.” Kelri would turn and look at the magi again, before pointing back to the apparition. “He is probably just as nasty in death as he was in life…” before she could finish her sentence she would feel herself being flung over and away from the magi, before the apparition of her brother appeared directly in front of the magi. Wincing and aiming to get up she would raise her voice to the other magi, and her brother. “Fletcher stop!” The woman was going to stop her brother that much was certain, if the magi would work with her it would yet be seen. She had seen this before, it almost looked like Fletcher was going to try and possess the water magi. Oh boy was that not a good thing. She was not looking forward to this, whatsoever.

Here comes a killer whale
Too distracted with keeping an eye out for whatever new danger was flung his way, Nobu only half listened to what the woman had to say. He’d already written her off as overly superstitious anyway, although as the air around them cooled, the first hints of doubt began to slowly seep in. Too slow.
There! A figure appeared, contorted into something beyond human, but one he still recognized. The monster he’d killed last month… Back. His eyes wideded, and realization set in. Maybe the brunette’s babbling had some merit to it, after all. Finally, one thing stuck long enough for him to care: “I’m pretty sure you killed my brother.” Her brother. Of course. Why wouldn’t it be?
But who this thing was didn’t matter now. As Kelri was flung away, the lion fish magi struck, launching the water he had summoned forward in what should have been a powerful, boiling whip. However, by the time it reached the space where the ghost had been, Fletcher was already gone.
Then, there he was again, right in front of him. Snarling, Nobu began to bring the water back around for another attack, only to stop abruptly as the ghost reached for him. A bitter cold that sank into his bones pressed in as the thing tried to possess him. The water shuddered and fell, splashing over the dirt. Nobu fell to his knees, clutching at his head. A fresh influence was trying to take hold, trying to wrest control from him to do gods knew what.
He wouldn’t let it. He wouldn’t. But as hard as he fought, as much as he struggled against the ghost’s will, some part of him knew he was fighting a losing battle. | out of character | Muse | Kelri Anderson I'm so, so sorry this took so long to get out. | Reach out your hands Don't turn your back Don't walk away How in the world Can I wish for this? Never to be torn apart Close to you 'Til the last beat Of my heart | From the gravel and ground, stone sticking to her face from the force of the telekinetic shove her brother had given her, she swore, “Gods, give me strength.” Slowing pushing her way up from the ground, Kelri would eye Nobu with force. “No you aren’t allowed in there!” Damn it all, how did her brother get this strong? She didn’t understand it and could only attribute it to his thirst for revenge. It was pretty obvious now, at least to her, that the water magi had killed her brother. Now she was caught in the middle of a very public haunting. She was just glad this didn’t happen in a city, where more innocent lives could be lost. Right now she had to get her brother out of this magi who had a good reason for killing her brother she was sure. She watched on in horror as she stood just in time to see her brother’s shimmery spirit phase into the water magi. Damn it, she hadn’t gotten there in time. Standing straight, squaring her stance she would hold out her baking spoon with the peach pit intact. “Fletcher, get the hell out of him and move the fuck on.” Oh she was done with this bullcrap. Her brother needed an attitude adjustment. In his head Nobu would hear a sinister voice, deep echoing in his subconscious as Fletcher took control of the body. “Filthy Magi Body, you deserve to die.” Nobu would spit, under the ghost’s control, before his hand would rise to his face, looking at it. Slowly the other would rise and the voice would resume, “Not before I have a little fun first though.” A purely evil grin would come onto his face, an, in a fluid movement the ghost would have Nobu break his own finger, one by one, in an utterly quick movement his actions cruel and fast. “I can’t have you running away now.” The voice would whisper to Nobu, darting from one ear to the other as a chuckle came to the mouth of the water magi. Kelri would watch in amazement and horror as Nobu’s body started breaking itself. Damnit, her brother wasn’t even paying attention to her. What was he… shit. Kelri would watch as Nobu’s body would rise up off the grounds and past the ruins, whatever her brother was planning it was not going to be good. Nobu would feel it instantly as his leg would bend backward, breaking at the upper thigh. It wasn’t pretty and would be insanely painful to the body of the water magi. Fletcher’s voice would echo again, “There, now you can’t run away from this, and my pitiful sister won’t be able to help you.” The body of the water magi would float back down to the earth before smirking and throwing a brick towards Kelri’s head. Really it was just protection at this point. The baker would see it coming and attempt to dodge, though it would still hit her in the side. She might have been good at dodging in close quarters, but not so much against ranged. She started focusing as much as she could breaking into a sprint to get as close as she could towards the magi, “Listen Magi, I can help but you have to fight him.” Her words might have come out in deep breaths, but they still came out as she advanced forward. Apparently, her brother decided it would be a good time as any to lift her up and hold her in the air. Didn’t matter, he didn’t take her vocals away. She started chanting, reciting the rites of the reaper, something that she didn’t know she had known before but now she did. It was something after all, and her voice would carry, vibrating through the Magi’s body, attempting to expel the ghost that had come for its vengeance. A deep and guttural growl would come out of the voice in the body. “No. Not yet, little sister, he hasn’t suffered enough yet.” Kelri would shake her head as Fletcher’s voice came out of Nobu’s body. “I won’t let you take him.” She finished the incantation, hoping to Tatara that it would work. “No. No more.” Nobu’s body would break yet another limb, his left arm before he would feel the voice slip from his consciousness. Kelri would gasp as she was let down from the air, falling onto the ground. Shit. She was pretty sure that she had broken a rib, but she still needed to get his soul to the spirits and tag it. Grimacing she would hold her rib before standing once again and breaking out in a sprint towards the body of the fallen magi, “Hey, you awake? I’ll deal with Fletcher, get to safety.” She would hold out her baking spoon, with its peach pit in it, and say aloud to the air around her, “You need to move on brother, there is nothing here for you in this life.” Her eyes were wide as she stared at the spaces around her. She didn’t see anything but she knew he was still here. Kelri would shake her head and focus, scanning for the soul of her brother, tainted with the negativity and hate of being murdered. There he was, her eyes focused on the spot she saw him and whacked the spoon at the space, before falling backward. “Goodbye brother.” She would watch as one of the spirits popped into existence, wave and nod at the spirit. She could see it transform into the version that would give her nightmares in the days to come and drag her brother away from the scene. “You alive magi?” The words would come out heavy and labored but she would start pulling herself over towards the body of the water magi. “He’s gone for good, his soul was taken to be moved on, Tatara willing.” Wincing she would look at the blood that was pooling at her side where she had been hit multiple times. “He won’t be coming back.” Hopefully, this magi wouldn’t kill her now that her brother was finally gone. That would not be a good thing.
