Notes Okay I thought you might like this but let me know if you want me to change it. Eheheh poor Leli.
I AM NOT MERCIFUL I AM NOT KIND I AM NOT AFRAID TO MAKE YOU WISH THAT I WAS She gave Lelianna a concerned look. If she was really that tired, maybe they should sit down. Leli didn’t seem to want to, though, so Caroline didn’t press the issue. It was a relief when she shot her indignant reply about Skjorn, and drew a small laugh from the cyborg. “Not nearly as hard as teaching me, I’ll wager. He seems like a quick learner.” She gave her a comforting smile. “Oh, I see. You never do get many guests in your neck of the woods, do you?” She looked down at her feet again, to make sure no toes were trodden upon, and that she was somewhat following Lelianna’s (now slow) lead. “Well, you’re not the only one at least. I don’t even have any bears to practice with. We, ah, seem to be doing okay, at least.” She looked around to the other people. Some had positioned themselves like the cyborg and magi. Others were closer, in an intimate hug, and some were further, looking as nervous as Lelianna was. “Besides, I’m actually enjoyi-whoa!” It was inevitable that she would screw up sooner or later. Her feet caught on one another and she stumbled forward and to the side a little; not directly into Lelianna, but Caroline’s weight would no doubt drag the both of them down if she kept falling. Her reflexes snapped into gear and she swung a leg around behind and twisted her body, making sure to keep hold of Lelianna so she wouldn’t fall. The awkward stumbling shifted quickly into a fluid save, ending with Caroline leaning forward on a bent leg, an arm cradled behind Lelianna’s back, their hands clasped tight together between their chests, and their faces even closer together than before, eyes locked. For all intents and purposes, it looked like a deep, intimate, almost intentional dip, despite it being Caroline’s last-ditch effort to avoid tumbling down to the ground. She held the position for a few moments while trying to collect herself. “Oh shoot, sorry,” she said, and effortlessly pulled back, standing them both back up into their previous position. Now she was as flushed as Lelianna. “Sorry, sorry! My boots just sort of… ah, sorry. I didn’t mean to- Are you okay?”

► Was Caroline really saying she was harder to teach than a bear? Even Lelianna- Lelianna- had to roll her eyes at that statement. "Caro, do you realize how hard it is to teach someone to dance when they've got paws bigger than my face? Doing little turns on the balls of your feet is basically impossible. Plus, you're smart too. Smarter than Skjorn I'll bet." The hermit said with an amused smile. Though she leaned in conspiratorially (temporarily forgetting her shyness) to whisper: "Just don't tell him I said that: he gets sensitive."
But then her shyness of course had to come back. All because some bird had mistaken her friend for...something much more.
Still, Lelianna did do her best to lead. Sort of. Neither of them had managed to step on the other's feet at least. that was good right? "Y-You're done fine. More than fine actually. I can't count the number of times I stepped on Skjorn's p-" Abruptly the word got cut of as suddenly Caroline was even closer and they were falling. Oh shoot! The hermit was too surprised to really even brace for impact. By the time she was the feeling of falling had ceased. Green eyes blinked in confusion. Wait, she wasn't about to get well acquainted with the floor?
Oh no, she was just getting really well acquainted with Caroline.
Green eyes went wide. Whatever amount of pink that had left the hermit's cheeks in the last minute or two came rushing back to make her head spin. She even whimpered- the sound escaping her before she even knew it was there. It didn't help that the few moments frozen like that felt like a small eternity. Gods, did she normally feel this lightheaded?
When Caroline helped the magi back up she didn't even respond. The girl had been stunned into complete silence and stillness. Like a deer in the headlights. if there was ever a moment the hermit resembled her animal aspect, it was now. She might as well be facing down a 16-wheeler for all she knew; staring forward with eyes wide. And a vibrant flush that managed to extend even down to her shoulders.

Notes I'm definitely helping
I AM NOT MERCIFUL I AM NOT KIND I AM NOT AFRAID TO MAKE YOU WISH THAT I WAS She laughed along with her, now enjoying herself more and more. “Can’t be much harder than combat boots and a metal body.” She in to put her ear towards her, and exhaled a surprised laugh. “I believe it; wonder if he’ll ever stop sulking?” It would have kept being fun if she hadn’t gone and tripped. While holding her in the unintentional dip, with their faces close together and Lelianna’s eyes wide, Caroline had a rare moment of pause, a second of “what happened and what do I do now?” Once she realized they didn’t hit the ground, she sighed with relief, short-lived as it was; Lelianna was… completely unresponsive. Even when she stood them both upright, the magi barely seemed to register anything that was happening. Now Caroline was worried. “Leli? Hey, Lel? You okay?” Deer in the headlights. Shoot, Caroline had to decide what to do and soon. She broke the dancing pose to slide her arm around the magi’s back, under her shoulders. “I think it’s time we go sat down. You seem very out of it.” Yeah, that’s all it was. Out of it. No need to fret! She never fretted! Why was she fretting now! She was definitely okay! She bent down and swept her other arm behind Lelianna’s knees and scooped the magi up effortlessly in a bridal-style carry; she clearly wasn’t going to be walking in her… shocked state. Lifting a strong, adult woman was about as tough for Caroline as picking up a kitten. Muttering pardons and excuse me’s, she carried Lelianna towards the edge of the dance floor, unaware of the eyes on the pair (Some very impressed, a few concerned, but most only giving them a passing thought before returning to the festivities). She placed Lelianna upright on a nearby bench, as gently as possible, and took a close seat next to her. “Hey,” she tried again with a small, soft shake on the woman’s shoulder. “Are you feeling okay? Would you like me to get you some water or something?”

► Maybe one day the big bear would stop sulking. Probably the day Lelianna stopped going crazy about plants (okay realistically he was probably already over it but the bear had been off doing his own thing for a while so that was the main reason neither Lelianna nor Caroline had seen him for long. Or at least that's the excuse).
Enough about that though; let's talk about frozen redheads.
Because Lelianna was definitely unresponsive, as Caroline put it. All because of something a bird said. Gods damn it Cadence. Look what you did! Look at this poor deer child! Look at the mess you made! The good news was that Lelianna did eventually "turn on" again as it were.
That bad news was that it was when Caroline literally swept her off her feet.
Re-stunned into realization once more, Lelianna let out a small help and clung to the woman currently carrying her. Holy smokes! Her face maintained its redness for sure as Caroline carried her bridle-style across the dance floor. Meanwhile Lelianna just had her arms instinctively wrapped around the woman in case she lost her grip. Hey she wasn't aware she was being held by a titan. Or, well, it wasn't registering in her mind at the moment.
Once they were sitting Lelianna eventually pried her arms off the other girl. Gods she was a mess right now. "I...I-I ah... yeah w-water might help." She said meekly. It might give her some time to breath at the very least. And in that moment more than anything the Druid needed to breath. This... whole situation was throwing her for a loop. She felt like she was constantly stumbling her way down a hill with no time to catch herself. Especially after the extra push given with that little accidentally (it had to be an accident right? Caroline hadn't done that on purpose. No that couldn't be) intimate dip. "T-Thank you, C-Caroline. I'm just... ah.... light headed?" Well technically she was telling the truth.

Notes I'm actually helping
I AM NOT MERCIFUL I AM NOT KIND I AM NOT AFRAID TO MAKE YOU WISH THAT I WAS She knelt in front of her and made sure she was stable sitting up for a few moments longer. “Don’t push yourself,” she said. “If you’re not well you should rest for now. I’ll be back in a moment.” With that, she reluctantly left Lelianna’s side in search of some water. Her mind was filled with concern as she pressed through the crowds to the nearest booth offering food and drink. A short wait in line later, she had two large cups of water in hand and was carefully finding her way back to Leli. She offered her one and set the other down on one side of her, and sat directly on the other side of her. “We did dance for a while out there,” she pointed out. “You’re sure you’re okay?” After a reassurance, she relaxed a little. “That was more fun than I thought it would be,” she said, looking out to the dance area with a smile. “Well, until I tripped and nearly took us both down. Sorry about that… you’re sure I didn’t accidentally step on your toes or anything? Or did I only manage to step on mine?” The more they sat and relaxed, the less worried she felt, as Lelianna was obviously fine, if maybe a little red. Her energy was bound to run out sometime, Caroline mused, and that’s probably what happened. She sat by her side and listened to the music and watched the dancers do their thing. “Thank you for dancing with me, I enjoyed it. And thank you for bringing me to Haven, too.” She turned to her with a happy smile. “You were right. I can’t remember the last time I enjoyed myself so much. I’m glad you wouldn’t take no for an answer.”

► Lelianna gave Caroline a nod and then she just slumped when the girl went off for the drinks. What in the blue blazes was wrong with her? The hermit covered her (still burning) face with her hands and let out a muffled groan. She was over reacting. Nothing had changed between her and Caroline! Well ok, the girl was opening up more to her and actually had agreed to come the redhead to Haven. there definitely were some things changing between them. But that was all friend stuff, right? This was just all normal pal stuff. Cadence was the one reading too much into it. Now it was making Leli read too much into it. They were just friends and she was getting flustered over nothing.
Right.
By the time Caroline returned Lelianna had managed to calm herself down somewhat. A blush still infused her cheeks but that was probably there to stay for a little while longer. She gladly took the cup and drank the contents. Though she hadn't realized it at the time she was actually pretty thirsty. Dancing had taken a good deal out of her. More than she'd anticipated. After that she could actually speak. "I-I'm fine. Really." Sort of. Maybe?
As Lelianna finished off the rest of her drink she was genuinely happy to hear Caroline had fun. It was enough to pull her mind away from all the other thoughts that had been plaguing her. "No no, you were fine. It was...M-Me." She said with a little squeak and aversion of her eyes for a moment. Gradually though she felt herself relax. The energy surrounding the festival really was infectious, wasn't it? Apparently she wasn't the only one affected.
Lelianna glanced back at Caroline and smiled warmly. It was honestly a great thing to hear. "I'm really glad you had fun. Arecia is wonderful but... the festival's really something else." Even the nature lover could admit there was something about the festival that was simply magical. Which made sense in the big picture. They were worshiping the goddess of magic after all. "Plus it's a lot better seeing you with a smile on your face. Like that one." The hermit pointed out with a smile of her own. Because hey, it was true.

Notes Let's continue with our date friendship outing
I AM NOT MERCIFUL I AM NOT KIND I AM NOT AFRAID TO MAKE YOU WISH THAT I WAS She hummed in that motherly tone that said ‘okay but I don’t believe you.’ She seemed alright, at least, even if she was being a little dodgy on what exactly was going on. It wasn’t her place to push. “If you say so,” she said. “I think you were doing wonderfully. I mean, you got me to dance, and you looked very nice out there, like a professional. Other than you, Skjorn must be the best dancer in Arecia if you were his teacher.” She felt a brief flutter in her chest when Lelianna finally smiled again. She laughed (sheepishly? Not that she’d admit it), with the faintest hint of warmth on her cheeks, and turned away with a growing smile. Oh, wait, what was that cute thing Nadia said to her husband? This reminded her of that. Mm, oh, that was it. She kept her eyes on the sights and sounds and people in front of them. “Thanks, I got it from you.” Which was also true. She… probably would not have been happy on her original path. Alone, thinking only of revenge, and missing out on living… But since meeting Lelianna, all she found was wonders and joy. She’d have never seen Haven, or the flower garden, or met the animals, or learned how to be … human again. “You’ve done so much for me, Lelianna,” she said. “I appreciate it more than I am capable of expressing. You are very dear to me.” After that, and a little while of letting Lelianna rest, and perhaps some more idly chat, Caroline stood up. She turned and offered Lelianna her hand, to help her off the bench. She kept that smile she liked so much. “Are you well enough to walk? I would like to see more of Haven, if you wouldn’t mind showing me around some more.”

► She was totally doing fine. 100% doing fine. Or she would be eventually anyways. The little comments about Skjorn were honestly helping a lot. It distracted her from what just happened and let her clear her head further. "Well out of the rest of the animals I guess you'd be right, but then again that's all we've got to compare to." The hermit replied dory with a little amused smirk. Then then she paused. "...Though actually Fiamma lives out there too. Maybe she can dance? I don't know actually." Yeah if Lelianna really wanted to know it would probably be better for her to ask Cadence sometime. Call it a hunch.
Awww, ok now that was really cute. Even Lelianna had to admit that. Her own smile grew in tandem with Caroline's. There was a little bit of guilt, then, that hit her when she thought about what Cadence said. She didn't want to worry the cyborg tonight all because of something the bird said. It was Lelianna's fault for getting so terribly flustered. For the rest of the night she was going to push that thought aside and have fun dangit.
They'd already been doing a good job so far anyways!
But speaking of fluster, she did get some of that back at Caroline's last words. Now it was her turn again to avert her gaze for a moment. "I... Thanks. S-So are you, ah, to me. Honestly I couldn't imagine having a better neighbor. I'm really glad you came to Arecia, Caro." And that was telling the truth despite rocky beginnings. Though the hermit still needed to work on Skjorn being nice and meeting the girl again. The big fuzzbutt.
After a bit more idle chatter Lelianna felt perfectly fine again. Her excitement was back, which meant her energy was thriving again. She felt just as lively as when they'd first came. All the red in her cheeks had finally disappeared, and a few other colors were seeping into the petals of her hair once more. With a bright smile she easily took Caroline's hand and hopped to her feet. "I think I'm ok now." She reported with a hint of a sheepishness to her smile before it vanished. "Oh! But there's so much more to see! We can just do a walk around the place and I'll show you. Haven's a really pretty place!"
Still holding Caroline's hand, the newly refreshed hermit was only more than happy to start leading her off once again. Back into Haven; back to the fun. What a bunch of dorks.
