Notes How many things is she going to break this evening. my poor strong child
I AM NOT MERCIFUL I AM NOT KIND I AM NOT AFRAID TO MAKE YOU WISH THAT I WAS “Deserved it? I’ll remember that next time you cheat making a maze,” she replied. Yeah, she didn’t miss that one, Leli. Unfortunately for the hermit, Caroline was getting much better at this whole “social cues” thing. She watched with an amused look on her face as Leli wound up for the throw. She was curious… and gosh, did her muscles always look so toned? … Bear wrestling, Caroline, remember? If not for her upgrades, Caroline might even be outmatched by her. She watched the throw and… hey! Alright! She clapped for her victory, despite the tick mark going on in her head that noted Lelianna was winning the challenge. What would she choose this time? When Lelianna unfolded the blanket, her brows raised. It was… really nice, actually. She stood there and let Lelianna place it on her and fold the hood over her other hood. Well, it wasn’t subtle, but it was nice. Warm colors weren’t exactly her first choice but the pattern really worked with them. “Thank you, I like it,” she said. “Hah! Okay, we’ll see about that. Let me take a throw to fix the score.” She stepped up and gripped the ball in her hand. Unlike Lelianna, she was an expert with her aim, even without additional help from cybernetic systems. She flung the right side of her cloak away, to give her throwing arm some room to move. After spending a few moments analyzing the weight of the ball, and the distance to the bottles, she wound up for the throw. The straggling entourage they amassed waited with bated breath to see what the woman who punched the strength game could do. They didn’t have to wait long. With a single grunt she hurled the ball downrange so fast some would swear they heard it whistle. CRASH! A pair of bottles, who were able to withstand every hit so far, shattered like dropped glass when the ball whizzed through them. The others collapsed dutifully, resulting in a win and a wide-eyed stare from many bystanders. It felt like this entire section of the games area just went dead silent. Ah, shoot, she didn’t expect that. “Ah, sorry,” she said. One of the magi running the booth declared that he never saw anything like that before; sure sometimes a strong lad or lass will come in and crack a few but never made ‘em shatter like that. The reward? A prize, of course! Now… what would Lelianna like… She settled on a rather large clay flowerpot, easily a foot in diameter at the top and widening out into a near-perfect orb shape. It was decorated with what were clearly hand-carved floral designs. The entire thing was done by a skilled hand, but little quirks and imperfections only made it more beautiful than something mass-produced in a store. As a bonus, they agreed to hold onto it for her so they wouldn’t have to lug it around the festival. “I hope you like it,” she said with an earnest smile, still completely nonchalant about what to her was a completely normal feat, but left most people speechless. She removed her blanket and tucked it around the pot, so it didn’t accidentally get damaged in the excitement of the festival. “You probably have so many already, but I think this one would look nice near your house.”

► To that remark Lelianna maturely stuck out her tongue at the other woman before moving on. Yeah yeah, she'd get her punishment for it later. No doubt about that. For now let's focus on the festival and not ominous consequences in the future. I mean, Lelianna had actually managed to hit the bottles! That was awesome!
But not as awesome as the scene she was about to witness.
Lelianna stepped aside as Caroline went to throw herself. Evening out the score, huh? Lelianna giggled a bit at that. If her earlier show at the bell game had been any indication, she knew Caroline was going to make good on that comment. Did it bother her? Oh heck no. It was fascinating to watch how strong the other woman was! Seriously! Lelianna probably was the only one not shell-shockingly surprised when Caroline obliterated some of the bottles with the sheer force of her throw. That didn't mean the hermit was any less mystified by the raw strength behind her friend's body.
"Gods Caroline, you're amazing!" Cried the magi with a laugh and clap of her hands. I mean, Lelianna already believed that but all this extra stuff was really driving it home. The redhead was going to have to try getting Skjorn to get over himself and forgive the purplette; Lelianna really wanted to see the two wrestle. Finally she wouldn't be the only one getting tackled by a big ball of fur!
Ah yes though; the prize. When Lelianna got to see it, her eyes widened. Gently she took it from the booth runner for a bit to observe it up close. Oh it was just so adorable! With a warm smile the magi traced a finger carefully over the swirling and obviously effort-laden designs on the pot. It was no Michelangelo but that didn't matter. The flaws only made it better; perfectly imperfect. "I do." She assured Caroline with that warm smile before gently putting the pot back down. It would certainly see some use back in the hermit's cabin. She could figure out what to grow in it once she returned home, but the idea of that was far into the future. "Thanks Caro. It's beautiful!" Said the girl sincerely. Anything that would help her plant more plants immediately registered as thoughtful.
Hell, or any gift period. They weren't a usual thing the hermit received after all.
"Okay! So...Does this make it my turn again?" The magi asked in a little bit of confusion. It was, right? If not, Lelianna would follow the other woman. If it was, then Lelianna would once again lead the charge through the zone to find something else to do. And once again their little secret following trailed behind them to see more fantabulous feats be performed. This time Lelianna stopped near a stall that once again used powers. While it wasn't exactly something fit for Caroline, the activity caught Lelianna's eye nonetheless.
This stall in particular seemed to play to an earth magi's powers. There were other such stalls within the zone where it really focused on one particular type of magi to play. Mainly they were meant for the children to learn the ropes of their abilities in a fun and friendly setting. In this stall a bunch of kids would try their hand at forming balls of clay into different shapes or figures under the instructions of the older earth magis running it using only their abilities. Yet again it technically wasn't a "game" per say (or at least one where either of the two girls could win something for the other), but an idea popped into Lelianna's head. With another grin she turned to Caroline. "Hey Caroline; pick an animal off the top of your head." The hermit would say abruptly with a twinkle in her eye.
Whatever Caroline would choose (if she decided to), the hermit would step off to an open space near the clay forming tent and focus. Carefully she'd pull earth to her, putting her hands to it as she sculpted a life-size version of whatever creature her neighbor had chosen (unless she picked a dragon because heavens to Betsy, Caroline, did you want her to have to try shaping all of Haven's dirt?). Once she completed the beast, she turned to Caroline with a wide grin. "Why thank you for the inspiration, miss." The tone she used was, once again (surprisingly), playful in nature. Nearly teasing as she not only pat the earth-made figure she'd made but also animated it's head to look over at Caroline with something that could vaguely be called a smile (I mean it really depended on whatever Caroline decided to pick).

Notes Just realized you're 2/2 on making things, I'm 2/2 on breaking things.
I AM NOT MERCIFUL I AM NOT KIND I AM NOT AFRAID TO MAKE YOU WISH THAT I WAS She smiled sheepishly at the compliment and pulled her hood further over her head. She really, really enjoyed Lelianna’s enthusiasm; it was such a foil to Caroline’s old self, and old life, and hell, most people she knew, save those she considered friends. “Well, thank you,” she said. “I do feel bad for breaking the bottles, though.” Her offer to pay for them was refused. Apparently the show was easily worth the price of two bottles. Were… other people enjoying watching her play these games? Magi were enjoying her presence? She hadn’t planned for that. Hell, she hadn’t planned for anything life through at her since she left. She was completely set to live a life of solitude and to spend the rest of her days exacting revenge and preventing atrocities like the ones she was responsible for. But a look over at the laughing faces, and Lelianna’s beaming smile at her new prize… She was glad it didn’t work out as she planned. “I, I’m glad you like it,” she said, a little flushed. “Sure, go ahead and choose.” She followed her, and their growing entourage of kids, which Caroline was still oblivious to, followed both of them. There were whispers going back and forth about the mysterious strong woman and the ‘coolest earth magi’, but all out of earshot of the two women. She was hardly surprised when they arrived at the little stall; she seemed to be a very creative woman. The earth magi guiding the children to make their own sculptures had their own on display, immaculately detailed works that spoke volumes about their skill. All her life, Caroline never saw magic as a creative force; it was only a destructive one, a tool to kill, a ticking time bomb; how many people would change their minds if they could see what she was seeing right now? She was so lost in her thoughts, Lelianna’s question barely registered. “A swan!”The voice wasn’t hers. She turned to look back at the crowd, and saw a little feathered girl, no more than ten years old, now with her hands over her mouth. Caroline did look rather intimidating; she was strong, her features concealed, and hints of an eyepatch could be seen under her hood. But she was not turning to smite the poor girl for interrupting her. Caroline flashed the faintest of grins and turned back to Lelianna. “A swan,” she said politely. Caroline wasn’t the only one impressed by Lelianna’s art. Many kids were wowed by the creation, and while not as meticulously detailed as some of the artisans here, was an excellent sculpture… especially given how quickly she managed to whip it together. She felt an unexpected blush at the “inspiration” line, but quickly laughed it off with the little animation of the bird turning its neck. “Oh, I can’t take credit for that; a little bird whispered the idea in my ear.” She nodded her head back to indicate the girl who was no doubt the happiest little lady in the crowd. “I didn’t know you were such an artist, Leli. You make magic look so easy.” Also, that wasn’t technically a game. She was still up to pick, as Caroline would gently remind her.

► Coolest earth magi? Pfffft oh honey if you only knew what a terrible dork this hippie was. No kidding; it was a good thing Lelianna was oblivious to their following because she would have gotten so flustered immediately. But luckily the kids had chosen to follow the two most clueless people (probably) at the festival. Unless they made it painfully clear, it was highly unlikely either woman would notice. At least Lelianna wouldn't. The little girl definitely surprised the hermit too. Green eyes blinked before returning to Caroline. Awww, that was sweet of her to go along with the little girl's choice. Smiling warmly at both individuals, the earth magi turned and got to work on her creation. It definitely wasn't the incredibly detailed work of art that the other magi had created in the stall. But hey it showed effort and Lelianna had whipped it up kind of on a limb here. Either way it appeared to make the "little bird" happy. That was a definite bonus as the hermit peeked over and offered the girl a kind smile. Though the compliment Carolina gave her did turn the expression a little shy. "Well...I've never seen a better artist than nature." The girl said as she glanced back at the earth swan and pet its head almost fondly. "Guess being around it all day means some of that had to rub off on me a little. Though I really doubt I'll ever be as good." It was nature. The hermit wasn't going to be so ridiculous as to think she'd be anywhere near the same level. Still she offered the other woman a smile. "Thank you though." Speaking of thanks; Lelianna turned her head to the little girl that had given Caroline the idea of the swan in the first place. "And thank you too." Said the hermit warmly. Right, so it was time the magi picked an actual game. Before she headed off though and idea struck her. Reaching into one of her pouches (because heaven forbid she ever leave home without at least one pouch full of seeds) to sprinkle over the swan. With a bit more focus it quickly became decorated with a flurry of white flowers to really complete that swan look. It simply felt...nice to do for the little girl since she'd wanted a swan. Then the magi moved on with her friend to find a proper game. Luckily they didn't have to go very fair. This one was another classic: a line of four water-guns was set up before a parallel row of targets. It was a competitive game meant to be played with others. Participants had to shoot at the target to try pushing one of the four little figures on an overhead minitrack to the end first. Whoever won not only earned bragging rights but also a small prize from the stall managers. "Oh! What about that?" Did the hippie stand a chance? Oh probably not, but it looked fun! So why not give it a shot. "Then we both can play together!" And Lelianna could try her best to bloody well aim that dang thing.

Notes You're teaching my robot child how to be snarky. Bad influence
I AM NOT MERCIFUL I AM NOT KIND I AM NOT AFRAID TO MAKE YOU WISH THAT I WAS “I am beginning to see that,” she said. “I’ve never had the chance to appreciate nature before. I am glad I have the opportunity to do so now.” She smiled as she put the finishing touches on her little sculpture, and the little girl was just awed by how pretty it was. Looking back, she could see her pulling her mother to look at the pretty swan. She felt a pang in her heart as she turned her attention back to the front. Gods, she missed her niece and nephew. It was difficult not to think about them. They’d have loved this. The dampened mood didn’t last long (Did it ever around Lelianna?). She examined the game with a tilted head, and shrugged. “If you want to lose so badly,” she said, and flashed her a wink (though it was hard to tell her winking from her blinking…). It wasn’t a real gun, but years of honed target acquisition, along with enhanced cybernetics… oh, this wasn’t a fight to analyze. It was a game. Confidently, she took her seat. “This will be a good tiebreaker,” she said, grabbing hold of the water gun. “I hope you’re ready for another gift.” When the game started, she locked on nearly instantly to the target, delaying only long enough to gauge how powerful the water stream was. And as a combat model, she was able to lock her limbs into place, ensuring her aim never wavered. Maybe it was unfair, but then again, so was making a maze without an exit. Her figure was booking it across the track, though there were no wide-eyed surprises at her performance. Maintaining focus on a target wasn’t exactly an inhuman feat, even if she had one of the steadiest hands available. Unless Lelianna was able to pull off some miraculous feat, Caroline would take and maintain the lead. And of course, there was playful sass. “Looking a little slow up there,” she said. “First time using a watergun or what?” And things of that nature. Would she let Lelianna win? Well, no, that wasn’t really a thought that occurred to her. Besides, she wanted to get Lelianna a prize; it wasn’t like it would be a real loss, in the end.

► Awwwwwwwwwww! Now see that was exactly the right thing to say. Any room that there had been in the redhead's hair was taken over by even more blooms as Lelianna beamed at the other woman. Hell she nearly gave Caroline another hug but just barely managed to refrain from that. Instead she settled on smiling warmly at the other woman. "I'm...I'm really glad to hear that." Truly she was. Her voice had been sincere as could be when she'd responded. For all the wild energy running through her at the moment, the hermit still loved when anyone else could see the beauty of nature like she did. Maybe her current state even furthered that reaction.
But enough about that; back to the games!
Oh Lelianna knew she was going to lose this. Still, hearing Caroline tease her so openly made the magi puff up indignantly. Though not from actual anger. It was nearly impossible for the magi to feel that emotion at the moment. Reaching out, she poked Caroline in the side. "Hey! Just because I'm not as good at this as you doesn't mean I'm going to give up so easily, bub!" Protested the magi. Who was fully prepared to lose already. But hey she'd give it shot anyways! Pun intended.
Taking her place next to the cyborg, Lelianna grabbed her own water gun and took aim. Now granted for someone without crazy aiming ability or being able to lock her arms into place, she did fairly well! Even with Caroline constantly throwing sass her way. That cheeky little... Even so Lelianna did not manage to beat the girl in the end. I mean what did you expect? The cyborg had fantastic aim. Besides, this was probably something punishing her a little for the maze routine she'd pulled.
At the end the magi lost and groaned from the defeat. Still, she managed to smile. It was really hard for her to be any sort of negative emotion right now. "I think that might've been revenge for the maze." Lelianna remarked with a laugh. "But nice shot, Caro!" Though now this meant Lelianna would have to get Caroline a prize to even the odds again... "Though after this it'll be your turn to pick a game. And then-" Originally she was going to say "the odds will be even" but a minor growl from her stomach interrupted her. Lelianna blinked once before glancing down. Then she looked back up; this time with a hint of a blush. "Then...maybe food would be a good idea." She concluded with a little, slightly embarrassed laugh.

Notes I think if you do one more, that'll mark the end of THIS thread. More fun to come elsewhere
I AM NOT MERCIFUL I AM NOT KIND I AM NOT AFRAID TO MAKE YOU WISH THAT I WAS She laughed along with her after her victory. “Well, that’s what happens when you cheat during a bet! Thank you, though. Now, let’s see…” Prizes, prizes, prizes… The selection here wasn’t anything stupendous, but since there was always a winner, she guessed they needed to have a bigger stock. It still baffled her to see as many high-quality prizes here; magic was something else. Earth magi could churn out gems and pottery like nothing, after all, and no doubt each other type of magi had their own talents. Even still… this festival must be their most important one, given how much work people must have been putting towards it. Eventually she settled on a less exciting gift; a large “mystery” bag of mixed seeds, in a cute little burlap bag. She knew Lelianna would like it, but … she wanted to appeal to something other than her nature side, for once. She’d have to think on that as the night went on; what else would she like? She… thought she knew her pretty well, but maybe not as well as she thought. Still, she handed her the bag with a smile. “You can always use more,” she said. “I wonder how many they put in here, and what kind…” She stopped at the growl from Lelianna’s stomach. Right. Eating. People needed to do that. “You’ve been using a lot of magic,” she pointed out. “That must be exhausting. Well… I wanted to go off and see the… temple, and I don’t really need to eat so… why don’t we call it a break here? It’s no fair if you’re hungry.” She pulled some money from her pockets. “It’s… donation-based for the food, right? To help refugees get to Haven. I saw that on a sign, I think. Here, take this and get something to eat. Even if you have your own, I insist; I’d like to donate through you just in case I don’t make it to the food stalls tonight.” It was… not a small amount of money, by any means. Easily the equivalent of a hundred dollars, if not more. But she had brought thousands from her personal savings in case she ran into expenses, and this seemed like a good place to start using it. “I’ll meet up with you later, then?” And once that was set, she would depart through the crowd, towards the large structure of the temple area. She knew the games weren’t over, not as long as she was ahead of Lelianna… but she had some personal matters to attend to in the shrine.

► Less exciting? Caroline: remember who you are dealing with here. The moment Caroline handed the bag to her, green eyes lit up like a child's would if they were given candy. Already jacked up on the energy the festival was feeding into her, Lelianna could even sense the smaller presence of the seeds now in her hands. It was so small; if it could be likened to anything it would likely resemble that of a baby or child. The strength of her connection tonight was certainly surprising the earth magi, who could only marvel at...well quite frankly a lot of things tonight. The surrounding plant-life, the vibes coming off the people around her, Caroline...it was so much to take in. But then her stomach had to go and ruin the moment. Perhaps it was from her using her powers. Although honestly the magi didn't feel exhausted in the slightest. She felt more invigorated than anything. Unstoppable? Maybe that was a tad dramatic, but certainly she felt no wear or tear on her systems yet. Besides, having to use her powers almost all day in the woods really helped one with their endurance; physical and magical. Either way though the magi was hungry. Annnnnd being given a very surprising amount of money all of the sudden. Lelianna blinked. While she could certainly understand Caroline's want to visit the temple- it was still a day of pray to the goddess of nature after all- the hermit couldn't understand why Caroline was giving her so much cash! She was about to protest, yet Caroline almost immediately insisted. Dangit. Well seeing as Lelianna likely wouldn't convince Caroline against it, she accepted it with only a little sigh. Besides, she could still use some of her own money when she actually got to the food zone. Though donating was a good thing...She'd figure it out when she got there. For now though, she had one thing in mind. "Sure but hold on for a second." Opening her newly obtained bag of seeds, Lelianna shifted through them carefully before selecting one. This one felt right; familiar even. The hermit had gotten pretty dang familiar with seeds over the past few years after all. Holding the seed in her open palm, the hermit channeled her powers into it. It might have been slightly fascinating to watch the process of a seed practically "hatching" into a tiny green growth and fully transforming into a long stalk with a bloom without any dirt. The entire process was completely shown and rapidly done without any dirt to conceal it. Once Lelianna felt it had reached a suitable length, she stopped growing it and instead stepped forward towards Caroline. With a little more magic and some adjustments, the redhead had essentially created a little clasp with a lovely little purple bloom to go with the other woman's cloak. Then Lelianna stepped back, a satisfied smile on her face. "I know it's not technically a prize or anything, but I wanted to give you at least that. Make things sort of even for now." Closing the bag, it soon vanished into one of the hermit's pouches. Then the redhead turned her attention back to Caroline. She smiled once more, this one a little softer than the other ones that had been infused with large amount of energy the hermit currently possessed. "I'll see you later though, okay? Feel free to take as long as you need in the temple. It's...It's a really cool place. I'm sure you'll love it." With one last brief hug given to her friend, the hermit watched her walk off for a bit before heading to the food section of the festival.
