A Touch of Lunacy “I want to be famous...”
“I want the entire Hunter’s guild to know my name….”The being before the Ikigaian man smiled wickedly. He let out a high-pitched giggle as he turned the massive iron screw in his head. “Oh I can do that for you deary!~” he said, white smoke escaping his lungs as his hungry eyes buried into Akito Kobun. The glare flashed on his crystal glasses as he crouched to get eye level with the kneeling hunter. “I can make Every hunter know your name, and chase you down to get just a piece of you. Make all your widdle dweams come twue. Nyehehehheh~”
“BUT WHY STOP THERE!?”
The god flashed next to the hunter and grabbed him by the arm, yanking him to his feet. “What’s the point of bein’ Famous if yer ain’t got sometin ta boast fer? Eh?! Common lad! Let’s make it a package deal. Fame as well as a skill boost. Sureitwouldupthepricejustasmidge BUT WHO CARES ABOUT THAT. Tell me laddie. What’cher want?”
Akito at this point was desperate. No matter how much he worked for the guild it seemed as if nothing he did ever got him recognition. He was here during the genocide, his skill and experience outclassed most hunters. But why did no one ever know who he was? His pride was his greatest weakness, he couldn’t stand playing second string for so long.
“I want to be fast. Fast enough to catch any prey.” He finally said, looking down at his wrinkled hands. He clenched and unclenched his fist. Perhaps there was another thing he wanted. “Since we are upping the deal anyways, I want my body to be back in its prime, back when I was 27. Can you do that?”
“Nyehehe~ Oh I love it. Deal!~” the god bounced in delight. This was just too easy. Three madness enhancements in one go? Perhaps he should intercept the ugly spider’s requests more often. This was just too easy.
“So what do you want Kupiec? My soul?”
“Oh, I don’t deal in souls.” He said with a smile, grabbing hold of the man’s forehead. “Besides. Call me Philip.”
You find yourself in an abandoned office building not far from the hunter’s guild central office. The building was left unfinished for years, the funding for the company washed out and no one willing to repurchase the land; even the first four floors remained unfinished, no walls or anything beyond the concrete structure. However, the remaining nine floors were finished. The glass windows reflecting the setting sun into your eye.
Reports had said that the subject in question had taken shelter in the building. However there was no electricity running into the building, meaning no elevators, and no lights for when it got dark. But unfortunately the subject moves in the morning, so you can’t wait until a more strategic time.
The first floor didn’t even have real stairs yet. The stairwell was there but instead of a staircase there was a wooden construction ladder. It was the same for the second and third floors. You could feel the wind on each of the unfinished floors. Besides of the structure pillars and the walls of the elevator shaft, only piles of wood and spare rebar lay sprawled across the floor.
When reaching the 4th floor, however, removed all form of stealth from the mission. A motion detector, made to keep teenagers from messing around the abandoned building went off as soon as anyone set foot on the last unfinished floor. It wasn’t loud, nor was it meant to call the police, just to frighten. It would turn off after five minutes of no one being on the floor. However, anyone within the building would know of the new arrival.
The stairwell begins after the 4th floor. Now what is your strategy?
Subject is armed and extremely dangerous. Combat Unit U12BR, you are a go.
Tags: Umbrage Notes: In case you missed it; there are 13 floors in total, 4 unfinished, and a roof. No basement floors.

An enemy unlike any before... if Umbrage took anything seriously it was her job. While she did not usually obey the orders of her handler the android already knew that in some cases her own ego would have to take a step back so she could have the hope of coming out of a fight alive. The target was already sighted thanks to intel... but to her dismay she would be moving in to intercept the target asap. Everyday this job could be the death of her... but she was going in with a mix of excitement and fear. Umbrage never believed there should be a need to worship the gods, but their existence was relevant with the presence of magi and their ability to empower a mortal could be frightening. Profiling... something she was used to doing within the moment rather than before an actual mission. Unlike her encounters with magi this was a foe that was familiar with fighting in a far more human way than the magi. Unfortunately most information on target was removed because of his rampage. However there was enough to help fill in the gaps. His background as a hunter, the fact he had an augmented weapon, as well as his experience within the genocide, and lastly the horrific idea of him being empowered by the deity of madness. This may in fact be the most threatening thing she's faced in her life so far... someone... something quite possibly just as if not more capable than she was. Caution was often thrown to the wind... but right now within this instance she couldn't help but take careful steps through the building. Upon reaching the fourth floor to discover that there was a motion sensor light removed any element of surprise she may have originally have had. "Damn... probably heading for me right now... Well so much for a surprise." She spoke to herself now attempting to prepare for the arrival for her target. To prepare for this fight she brought in all the weapons she could carry without burdening her. Recalling all of the weapons to ensure she was prepared for to handle whatever means of combat this threat would pose to her. Her first weapon was her iconic great axe with the head of the axe being able to disconnect from the handle to act like a staff. Then a series of throwing knives, stick glue bombs, bombs, and flash bombs. The last weapons was a set of sword breaker daggers... Walking to the stair well Umbrage would lay her only motion sensor bomb within entrance to the fourth floor. It was the most obvious means of entry, but the android knew better than to assume that her target would just go through the stair well. Staying close to her axe she keeps scanning the room waiting for her target to arrive. Her vision was focused on all possible points of entry... she had no choice but to fight defensively until she was certain of who and what she was exactly fighting. The Doctor

A Touch of Lunacy As soon as the cyborg had set off the motion detector, an alarm went off throughout the floor. Though not meant to be loud, it was particularly deafening in the silence surrounding you. The eerie stillness to the building had been broken. The harsh sounding ring of the alarm bouncing off the walls and tighten the tension already thick through the air. On and on it rang, the noise prolonged due to the movement of the intruder. It nearly felt like a miniature eternity. You had been right; any chance of surprise had been destroyed.
For the cyborg, that is.
As Umbrage waited there, carefully watching each entry point, the alarm finally switched off. And for one noise was traded another; the sound of fracturing concrete overheard. There was only the falling of a few bits and pieces above to signal the breakage before a large hole in the ceiling above suddenly came crashing downward towards the cyborg, catching her if she was not fast enough. With a mighty thud the parts of the higher floor settled in a plume of dust and concrete. And with it came the hunter.
Much of the figure's presence seemed off. Wrong. Unnatural. The hunter reported in as the defector had been one of decent age. But the figure within the cloud of dust did not appear as some old man. Instead it looked like a person in their prime; young and vibrant and strong. Though his skin color was cold and ashen like that of an old corpse. At least, what skin could be seen through the bits of armor the individual wore.
All this was seen within the span of a few seconds. For when the figure landed, once more setting off the motion detector's alarm, it whirled around until it spotted Umbrage. The face of the hunter was perhaps the most unnatural thing of all. His lips were curled back into an animalistic scowl; his pupils mere pinpricks in his eyes; his expression contorted into a look of pure, senseless fury. There were no words spoken. Only an inhumane roar no human vocal cords should be able to make as the ex-hunter dashed at its new quarry. Within a breath the cyborg had an up-close look at the figure.
He moved with amazing speed- perhaps even faster than the cyborg herself as his long blade flashed out in a blur towards her. The intent to kill was obvious from the blade's sheer speed and the ferocity put behind the strike. And as it swung the subtlest of crackling and flashes of light could be seen coming off the blade, filling the air with ozone.
Umbrage had found Akito Kobun. Or rather, he had found her.

The silence was deafening within its own right once the alarms had ceased… too much thoughts would cause severe hesitation and panic within any fighter. Umbrage knew she had to remain calm and bide her time to effectively find some way of killing this man. Her eyes raced along every possible entrance he could take to charge at her. It wasn’t until moments after the alarm had gone off that she noticed the new sound coming from above her. “SHIT!” She blurted, reacting quickly as the first few bits of concrete spilled down onto her. Moving away from the point of entry within moments of the ceiling collapsing on top of where she once stood. Umbrage had been as careful as she thought she could be… and within the moment remembered that this was a fight between hunters… and so far her enemy had taken the initiation within the hunt. Her kinetic predictions gave her the advantage in this fight as she stood on guard as she watched on warily. Spotting the corpse like form of the hunter she was sent to kill. As a killer of mortal men she knew some part of his form...his anatomy was distorted or even physically altered to change him into the monster he was at this very moment. The fact he had looked far different from the image given had displayed the disturbing effects these deities had within the world. The figure that stood before her held a the stance of a warrior, but it was corrupted by a strong sense of death that laid within the twisted mortal. It spoke more so as he began searching for Umbrage and within this instance she knew to quickly prepare her own arsenal to fight. Once his eyes had locked onto her own there was a moment of shock upon realizing his phyiscal capabilities Suddenly her Kinetic predictions kicked in at a jarring speed that had the android fearful. As the processor was just barely keeping up with the hunter’s movements. Realizing how powerful this man was at this stage of madness it was foolish to think that she could bide her time in hindsight. It was no longer a hunt… it was a fight for survival and as she saw him up close she knew she had to take the offensive if she truly wished to beat this opponent. In order to react quick enough… in order to have a fighting chance she pushes her systems into ‘Overdrive’. Pushing both her kinetic predictions and her many physical attributes within his range of power hopefully. Umbrage’s reactions kicked in as she jolted back with aid of her propulsions in an attempt to either dodge or gain enough time to throw some daggers at his swinging hand. Her hopes were to either to disable him or avoid the angle of his oncoming attack. West

A Touch of Lunacy Umbrage just barely managed to avoid the deadly sweep of the blade. As it passed with only a hair's width of space between the cyborg's torso and the sharpened edge, the electricity that now danced along the weapon's length crackled menacingly. Just being that close to it sent out a tingling sensation throughout the cyborg's system, causing the inner circuitry to flare for a moment. It was obvious that a hit from the weapon would be a bad one indeed.
But even though the cyborg fled backwards the hunter did not relent nor take a moment to breath. Instead he pressed on the offensive, bringing the blade in yet another vicious slash to cut the daggers out of the air. The tiny blades themselves pinged off to the side, some cracked while others had been shattered entirely. The madman's reputation for slicing even bullets from the air seemed well earned. Projectiles were likely not going to be of much use in this fight. Not with his full dogged attention on the cyborg.
But there was hardly time to think on that. Again the hunter dashed forward, pushing Umbrage ever backwards towards the edge of the unfinished floor should she continue to flee from the hostile figure. There was no pause to be had, no time to think things through thoroughly. The ex-hunter was relentless in his pursuit and would not allow for much distance to be gained by mere backpedaling alone. As such, another wild strike lashed out towards her with an inhumane roar. Immense amounts of power were put behind the swing to once again make the now-crackling blade a mere blur that even her kinetic predictions were having a tough time following. The side swing itself aimed towards her torso, as though to cut her in half by the waist.

Dangerous! This was beyond dangerous… she was in her overdrive state and was only just keeping up with the monster. Her knowledge of fighting lent to her ability to read as she quickly had to read into his abilities before he got a second strike. How the hell was the weapon even electrically charged?! Damn so much information she was learning right now and she could had better prepared for such an enemy of they kept the Hunter files safe! Umbrage had to react and needed to fight back this man was still human. He should still be human… the fear that he wouldn't even bleed made retreat seemingly the best option available, but she had doubted that the monster would provide her the opportunity to run. Her own worry of being out-classed in her blade work made the task seem increasingly daunting, but her knowledge and enhanced mental abilities were working harder for a solution in her overclocked state. Unlike most other beings she had the ability to redirect her own momentum thanks to the use of her propulsion systems. Umbrage already knew she would not attempt to match his blade work without a gaining a precise opportunity to wound him. However her arsenal was meant to provide such an opportunity. Seconds had barely gone by as he knocked away the original set of blades she had thrown at him. Now it was time to create the opportunity to attack or retreat, as she gripped the blades needed for her counter attack.… His stance and sword style seemed to leave an opportunity to strike after each of his swings. She prepared herself for the next attack with another set of throwing weapons disguised as throwing knives. Prior to his swing she unties her axe from her back to allow it to drop as she retreats. Intending to cause herself to trip backwards and fall out the arc of his swing as she was continously propelled by her propulsions.. As she fell Umbrage launched a flash bomb with a series adhesive bombs and timed explosives following right behind it. Using her own thermals to keep herself from being blinded. As her goal was to slow down his movements or even if she was lucky to plug up his throat and nostrils in hopes of killing him through suffocation. Whether or not the hits landed their mark mattered not to her as she continued to propel herself away from the foe that sought her destruction. West

A Touch of Lunacy As intended the cyborg's trip managed to get her underneath the blade's swing. Umbrage would painfully clatter against the ground and scrap against it, her propulsion caused sparks to fly up around her form as the ear-aching screech of metal grinding against stone could be heard from her form. However, the cyborg just barely missed getting hit by the arc of lighting that shot out from the blade.
But with that maneuver came consequence, as it had been a risk in and of itself.
By tripping to avoid the blade's blow Umbrage had slowed down. The friction of her metal form grinding along the floor had reduced her speed by just enough. By the time she threw out her explosives, the madman was practically on top of her. In a flash the blade had whipped out once again. As intended the thrown projectiles had been hit, but perhaps at a far closer proximity than originally planned.
With a blinding light flashing right before her face, the blade also cleaved through the adhesive bombs and one of the timed explosives thrown immediately after. One, however, was enough. In a series of loud booms the electricity from the sword sparked the explosives and set them off right before both figures' faces. Adhesive and fire erupted from the small objects, scorching and battering the front of Umbrage while slamming her against the floor with even more force. She'd done quite a bit of damage to herself unwittingly. However, a duller roar had been heard over the barrage of noise when the bombs went off.
The figure, though Umbrage could not see in detail due to her own flashbang, had been hit as well. Blood was pouring out from multiple lacerations caused by shrapnel of the bombs going off. Much of his front was similarly scorched, filling the air with the disgusting scent of burnt flesh. Because of the fiery blast from the explosives much of the adhesive had been rendered useless and dripped to the floor. Yet, from the sheer force of the explosions, he had stumbled. Which in turn had granted Umbrage a few precious feet in distance from him.
But the figure yet stood.
With another ungodly roar the figure continued its charge towards where Umbrage was trying to flee. Like some unhinged animal bent solely on taking the cyborg down, he bounded towards her with bloodthirsty intent. Though the flashbang seemed to have blinded him temporarily as he swung wildly, arcs of lightning shooting off the sword in deadly arcs that were sure to eventually hit Umbrage if she did not change her course. All the while, the edge of the building was swiftly approaching the cyborg's back as she skid along the ground.

Her plan worked to some extent as the events unfolded before her. Barely missing a shot of lightning as she felt her body skid across the hard floor. As she was able to launch her assault of projectiles only for it to literally blow up in her face repeatedly. The blinding light coupled with the series of explosions filled her with fright, but an unexpected pang hit her as her body landed away from the corrupted hunter. Umbrage had not realized how quickly the hunter would had prepared his second swing… and had only been saved because of the explosive being prematurely detonated by the lightning that came from the beast’s blade. Which gave her some ideas on how to eliminate her prey. Standing up with her battered body she was glad to know her own thermal plating had assisted in resisting most of the damage, but there were still punctures suffered from the shrapnel of her own explosives. To her own dismay though she had suffered some vision damage due to her own flashbang. Umbrage already knew she was lucky to suffer minimal damage from such an explosive assault. Especially with all her internal systems still heavily intact. Looking upon her opponent stumbling to regain his stance filled her with hope… but it filled her with a long lost excitement she had forgotten about within these past months. A thrill for a fight, but she stole herself away from the excitement… knowing all too well that one simple mistake could be the end of her. She pulled out another set of throwing weapons knowing fully well this might be their final engagement with one another… A similar style of offensive over defensive that could lead to a fatal mistake for either of them. He was the beast… and she was the hunter! So she knew that she had to play the role now more than ever. She was quick to react knowing that she would need to disrupt the flow of his electrical attacks. Despite the beast having the ability to shoot lightning the precision seemed quite limited in it's angle of attacks. Now it was time to commence the hunt and lure this bloodthirsty animal into her blades. Once more Umbrage continued her retreat, while remained facing her opponent. Knowing fully well that she would need to dodge the lightning she kept her kinetic predictions analyzing the air around his blade. Throwing an explosive impact-knife at the ceiling between them to disrupt his chase upon her. The diversion was meant to give her reactionary options dependant on his choice of assault. If he had gotten through the debris or was still going through it, Umbrage would throw a barrage of glue bombs to slow him down. This is what she desired him to do in his animalistic rage, as she had hoped to have the glue bombs explode with the falling debris and stick to the monster and provide her with an opportunity to throw another explosive knife at his blade at his blade arm. However if he took the extra time to go around the falling debris she would have the aid of her propulsions redirect her movements to the opposite of his. While throwing a barrage of explosive knives at both him and the ceiling between them. Umbrage had hoped that this tactic would work in her favor as her hopes was to use the falling debris as a means of protecting herself from the electrical attacks. West

A Touch of Lunacy As Umbrage continued to backpedal in the same line as when the madman had been right on her, the predicted happened. Right before Umbrage threw out her knife to take down a part of the ceiling, one of the wildly swung arcs of lightning flashed out and shot straight into her. It likely helped that metal was a conductor and thus attracted the shooting bolt. As soon as it hit her system, she was temporarily overcome with an overwhelming sense of wires frying. As the electricity course through her, a plume of smoke suddenly burst out from her right leg. The limb buckled under her weight unresponsively, causing her to stumble. The systems within it had been severely cooked by the shock, and the limb was now currently useless.
But before then Umbrage managed to bring down that section of the ceiling. The whole upper portion of the above floor creaked and groaned from the impact as old beams tried to keep the level intact. However as the debris fell and detonated the adhesive explosives she had thrown out towards it, the glue ended up sticking most of the fallen stone together rather than the ex-hunter.
Speaking of the ex-hunter, the sudden deposit of the stonework above had knocked him back somewhat. As his furious eyesight slowly returned to him, he growled low and angry. It was a sound more akin to a rabid dog than anything else. But with yet another roar he continued forward, barely bothering to go around the fallen concrete in his rush towards his prey. The adhesive that did stick to him didn't do much to slow him. Whatever maddening strength he possessed since turning into this monster seemed to allow him to extract himself fairly easily.
All the while as his vision began returning slowly. Now he simply aimed towards the distant moving blur. More flashes of lightning shot out from the continuously swinging blade, and this time they were more precise in their aim since his senses were slowly coming back.
However with what Umbrage was throwing at him, his progress towards her was significantly slowed. The explosive force of the bombs rang throughout the floor with nearly deafening force. Which was probably why neither would hear the amount of cracking coming from overhead. Yes, Umbrage had succeeding in using bits and pieces of the ceiling to her advantage in order to make cover between herself and the bolts of pure electricity that were coming her way. At the same time, however, she had managed to disrupt the already weakening structure of the floor above them. Suddenly cracks zoomed throughout the ceiling above them as more and more concrete began tumbling down to crash around the two. Some of it fell on the ex-hunter, while others fell on Umbrage herself. Thick shrapnel of stonework that banged against her body and dented wherever it struck. And it only kept coming as the whole building seemed to groan.
The entire fifth floor above them was rapidly collapsing right on top of them.

To her dismay, the initial attempt to counter his electrical strike as she was retreating was met with failure as her circuits and cyber-skeleton felt the jolting pain of lightning surging through her body until she could feel fuses in one of her legs blow out. Now falling to the ground with screech of metal pieces grinding against one another as she had to reassess her physical capabilities. Despite losing of control of one of her legs she was still quick to continue with her own barrage of explosive knives. The weapon of choice was one of the few things allowing her the respite for intellectual planning. However Umbrage kept moving to the edge… knowing fully well that escaping and repairing herself was her best chance of defeating this beast. As his wounds would not be able to heal like she would. The Hunter was grateful that among all the things she didn't lose control of that it was any of her arms or internal systems. As overdrive routine was still operating at full capacity. She felt that there would be too much of a risk to kill the beast despite the wounds her prey had sustained… As the ones she had gained were crippling. However her initial idea to retreat was interrupted as she felt a sudden pang hit her head. Her eyes were quick to glance at the surroundings and notice just how much damage was being done to the structure that enabled the monster to hunt those that sought him. This could work for her… she thought to herself as she knew now what she had to do. With one free hand she strikes at the joint of her disabled leg as her other hand kept using her arsenal to keep the beast at bay. Once she has severed her own leg she knew what it would be used for as her free hand quickly stuffed the leg with three of her explosive knives. Now it was time to escape! Better to risk the fall than be crushed with the beast after all. Pushing her propulsion systems to full power as she repeatedly threw her explosive knives at both the beast and key points building’s structure to ensure that it would collapse. However she was not without a plan if the beast were to increase in pace, she would have kept at least a single explosive ready to use if he got too close. Willingly sacrificing her legs if it meant that she would both kill and escape the beast. Hopefully the initial barrage would keep him away from her though. With his lightning attacks… She knew the best means to counter it was to preemptively strike. Despite with the chaos of the battle she kept her eyes on the beasts blade… watching for the atmosphere around to change and signal his next electrical attack. Once she saw the building charge she would throw her dismembered leg at the beast. Hoping it would catch the electricity like before. But she would not leave the detonation of those bombs completely. Chance throwing another explosive knife right at the leg she threw. She could only hope that the explosion would either kill the beast or allow her enough time to escape as the building collapsed. If she was able to launch herself off the building she had to initiate her own plan to safely secure her body. Using a combination of her glue bombs to keep herself intact, her gyroscope to know which direction the ground was, and finally the use of her propulsions to allow her to slow her descent to reasonable speeds. Her overdrive should make up for the power output that the propulsions need as she hoped to sustain minimal damage from all of this. West

A Touch of Lunacy As Umbrage ground to a halt and began trying to tear off her own leg, that moment of stillness was all the madman needed. With yet another swing, electricity shot into Umbrage. Her systems, having already experienced the deadly burst of energy, once again burned from the lightning coursing through her. In another plume of black smoke, her remaining leg went limp and unresponsive.
Though that was swiftly becoming the least of Umbrage’s concerns. With her dedication to bringing down the already collapsing roof, the debris fell faster and faster. Now full chunks of stonework were hitting her and the hunter as they moved. And by the time she threw her dismembered limb towards the charging madman, the building had finally had enough.
With an almighty groan, the beams that had been supporting the upper floor busted. In turn the ones above started to keen and wail as the structural integrity of the abandoned building was ruined. The madman within was hit with the falling pieces, knocked prone beneath the weight of the concrete atop him. The last noise he made was a roar drowned out by the building's own. Umbrage managed to make it outside the building, but that did not save her from its total collapse. From where she had been throwing her knives, the building fell towards its side. A roar of breaking steel and tumbling rock echoed throughout the area. The last thing Umbrage could see was thousands of pounds of concrete falling atop her before burying her completely.
Then everything went black.
”I think I found someone!”
Hours later, a crew sent in to investigate the abrupt collapse of one of the nearby buildings discovered a body. The body itself was horribly bent and scarred, one leg missing and the other limbs nearly just as bad. Yet even as the metal form looked entirely destroyed, the crew didn’t yet give up hope. They found a way to charge the form. Hoping against hope that maybe, just maybe, they could restore power to the figure they’d found amongst the horrible rubble.
For the first hour there was no response. The body remained just as dead as it looked to be. But after the hour, finally, there was a flicker of light. A gradual returning of senses- or at least what could still be sensed in such a horrible state. As terrible or as painful as it might be, luck had clearly been on her side this time.
Though barely, Umbrage had managed to survive.
