Well, in this campaign, I'm playing as a young woman (17) who started her Pokemon Journey at 12, but discovered she was a Prism. While in the fluff of the book, it's simply a Normal-type attuned mage that plays with light, in this she can actually choose to function as a prism. This terrified her, and she thought Pokemon were the cause, so she released all her Pokemon and spent years in therapy, and through her therapy Pokemon "Fluffy" (a buneary), she was finally able to get past her irrational blame and fears. She decided to restart her journey anew, with Fluffy, to reclaim the life she had before she left.
Her name is Prisma, because I'm the most clever.
Last session we left Pewter City to head to Mt. Moon. When we reached the Pokemon Center outside the mountain, something was very off. The inside was abandoned, and all the medicines where out-of-date with expirations that indicated they were the same medicines used to stock the facility at its founding. We GTFO'd on that, and never figured out what that was about. Anyway, we came in to Mt. Moon and found ourselves in the company of a Diva-looking Wigglytuff with a microphone-marker... and were promptly put to sleep.
We wake up and there are a bunch of Cleffa, Clefairy, and Clefable cowering in terror. The Wigglytuff is trying to console them, but is visibly disturbed. Two Clefable are strung up with the life from their eyes gone and being held upright. The scene disturbs and sickens Prisma and she immediately runs to undo the morbid scene in defiance.
This is when we see them: a pair of hooded figures and a procession of possessed Clefable. One touches the large Moon Stone in the center of the room we find ourselves in, and with a slashing motion of the hand by one of the cultists, the Clefable dies, a Haunter consumes its soul as it leaves its body, and is forced to evolve in to a Gengar, albeit full of hatred rather than the more poltergeist disposition they generally possess.
Prisma, nor her companions, can stand this atrocity. Prisma immediately uses Swift (as she can use certain Pokemon moves due to being a Prism) on one of the cultists... only for it to phase through him. The cultists themselves are ghosts. My darling girl is completely useless. My buneary decides this is the time to evolve, so it removed from combat for three rounds. My Happiny is level one, and mostly just goes to protect the cowering Pokemon at this point. This leaves me and my Pichu trying to stop the possessed procession of Clefable from touching the stone and being sacrificed to the cultist's dark ritual to no avail.
As one of the cultists is slain, the Clefable are removed from their possession. Being unaware of what is going on, they flock to the Moon Stone, and by the time the cultist goes to remove their souls from their bodies once more, he kills seven in a single stroke, rather than the single Clefable he'd have killed prior.
The cave is littering with dead Clefable at this point. We're desperately trying to kill the remaining cultist, Fluffy evolves to Lopunny and begins physically picking up and throwing the Clefable as hard as she can away from the stone in an effort to keep them from touching it...
At this point, Prisma can no longer stand it. So much death all around her, and no way to stop it. She takes the flashlight she always carries as a way of providing comfort, much like a security blanket, and charges the cultist. She swings like ol' Babe himself at the cultist's head, and it passes ineffectively through him: a pointless action made in desperation and anguish.
A voice calls out from the darkness something to the effect of, "A worthy sacrifice." The ghostly group of cultists and Pokemon burst in to hellfire, and when the fires immediately dissipate thereafter, a demonic Flareon stands before us. He shoots a Fire Blast at Prisma, knocking her unconscious and leaving her clinging to life desperately. It fires another, and before it could strike her, the Wigglytuff, seeing how valiantly, if futilely, she strove to protect its charges, steps before the Fire Blast and sacrifices itself to protect the dying girl.
Suddenly, a bright light appears, forcing the Flareon and darkness to flee. From the entrance of the cavern a fairy-touched light pours in, grass and nature grows everywhere the light touches, and in steps a beautiful, majestic stag whose antlers are a chromatic display of hues: Xerneas.
Meanwhile, from the hole in the cave's roof where the moon's light shone through, darkness appears and begins to spread, and in that darkness Yveltal perches.
Yveltal offers the power to avenge these senseless deaths, at a price. Xerneas offers to bring back all those slain this night, for while death is natural, murder is not. They pose this question to the dying girl.
She speaks weakly, her voice fading, about how she is a Pokemon Trainer. She can grow strong by her own means, and avenge them through her own strength, for that is what it means to be a Trainer. However, she would never have the power to bring back those who had died on her own, so she chose to take Xerneas'es offer instead.
"I told you." Xerneas would state. Yveltal would bow and depart. Xerneas would walk up, lean forward, and allow Prisma to reach up with what was left of her strength and pet him.
The cave filled with light, and all those who had died were reborn. Prisma was restored, and when she went to pet him once more one of his antlers broke off and became hers: a symbol that she had been Touched (intentionally capitalized) by the god.
She'd check on the Clefairy Fluffy had thrown, and one of her companions would trade his electric guitar for the mic-marker and one of Wigglytuff's posterity.
A light would begin to glow from the marker, and Prisma's Pokemon would instinctively begin walking upon it. Prisma would follow, and the rest of the party would follow suit. They rode a rainbow bridge across the sky, and in that moment even Arceus'es presence could be felt, filling them all with awe. The bridge would bring them to Cerulean City.
MECHANICAL NOTES: Now, when my party rests with me, I function as a walking Poke'Center. They'll always be restored completely by being in my presence.
