If there is one positive aspect of Jason's personality, it is his unwavering devotion and the focus with which he pursues his goals. He is reliable, devout, and loyal almost to a fault. His faith guides him and his beliefs will often lead him to stop and lend any aid he is able to those in need, however once a task is set before him he will pursue it with the unwavering determination of mountains standing tall before the wind. Unfortunately, these are the very same traits that lend him a stony, unfriendly demeanor when dealing with others, though the truth of the matter is that he is friendly enough to those that prove willing to listen.


Jason has seen and done many terrible things in his long, storied life. His actions during the Magi Breakouts is a source of great regret for him, for they caused many deaths. Unsurprisingly, his experience has also molded him for the better and the worse. While his years have lent a level of wisdom and purpose to his words and actions they have also rooted him in his ways. The same strengths that drive him also have a tendency to blind him the larger picture as he forces himself to see the world through a moral lens. He believes that all mortals, be they human, magi, or cyborg, are equal in the eyes of the gods and resents the rise in ignorance and bigotry among humans and magi alike. To him, all life is sacred and the senseless killing on both sides disgusts him endlessly.

If one were to use a single word to describe Jason it would most likely be “mountainous”. Standing at an impressive height of six feet and six inches tall and weighing nearly three hundred pounds, he is a massive pillar of a man. He is heavily muscled and well-toned from his time fighting as a mixed martial art champion—a practice that he continues each and every day. His dark mahogany skin lends him an exotic air and the stern, angular features of his face appear as though they have been chiseled from granite. The resting scowl etched into his face combined with his shaven head add an intimidating mien to his already unapproachable appearance. He is most often seen with his fingers worrying at a string of granite prayer beads. A small piece of clear crystal has been melded to one of the beads and Jason often uses it as a focus for meditation.

Jason’s magi traits manifest in a way that liken him to a scorpion. He sports a large, segmented tail that he wraps around his waist or tucked under the leather jacket he normally wears. Black plates of chitin cover most of his torso and upper arms like a suit of living armor; the plates also glow a florescent blue when exposed to a UV light. Deep brown eyes set deep within the recesses of his skull look upon the world with a menacing glare and a goatee of black hair like sheep’s wool frame his large lips in stark relief. Strangely enough, his tail is much more expressive than the man himself, moving in dynamic ways that seem lost on the man's face.


Jason prefers functionality over appearance in his attire. Most of his clothing consists of dark colors that help him to blend in with the crowd and often feature several pockets. The jacket he wears helps to conceal his magi traits, which if fine by him. His preference in footwear seems to always fall along the line of combat boots and he is rarely seen without a pair of jeans.

Much of Jason’s early life was spent in relative peace. He was born to the Surajan born Terryl Masani—who changed his last name to Reed when he immigrated—and Lydia Reed. Both were incredibly powerful earth magi, one specializing in the growing of plants and the other focused on the bending of earth to suit the needs of a burgeoning society. They were a rather religious couple. Though they worshiped all gods and gave each their fair share of devotion, it was Arithelia whose shrine took a prime position in their household. When their son was born, it was to an appreciation of the Mother of Magi and all that she did for her children, a belief that was imposed upon the young boy at a very young age.

Strangely, their son was born with a defect that originally rendered him a no-maj. This would come as something of a relief to the family as the relations between humans and magi were beginning to sour. Jason took up martial arts as a means of standing out among other children of his age and soon found that he possessed a certain level of natural talent and slowly cultivated his talents as a fighter in ways that many took notice of. At the age a thirty-four, he was scouted and sponsored by a prominent mixed martial arts school. Within five years, Jason had claimed the championship title in the heavyweight division of the Ethean MMA League and continued to hold the title for another five. Jason would lose and regain his title multiple times in the next ten years before racial tensions caused the professional environment to become too toxic. At the age of , Jason quietly retired from a twenty-year-long career with an impressive record seventy-eight wins and thirteen loses.

For the next forty-one years, Jason would manage a small dojo of his own and would train the next generation of fighters. Though racial tension continued spiraling out of control, his belief that all are equal would attract dozens of students over the years, including a young magi woman by the name of Olivia Denison. The two would spend many years training with one another, learning about one another, and eventually falling in love. On January 16, 2541, Jason was married at the age of ninety-five and the then twenty-nine Olivia. Less than a year later, prejudice and bigotry would come to a proverbial head and Jason would be forcefully branded with a barcode on his left forearm; soon afterward, he was forced into a Relocation Camp alongside his mother, father, and wife.

For nearly forty-three years, the Reed family would wait patiently for the humans to realize the injustice of their actions. Such a realization would never come, and Jason chaffed under the weight of hypocrisy. And when the time came for the magi to rise up and break their bonds Jason was one of the first to rise with them. He would join with the original forty that escaped the camps, helping to free others in the way he had been. This proved to be a mistake as the Hunters of Kalidas began hunting and killing magi for their disobedience.

Jason attempted to return home to his family but arrived much too late. His entire household lay slain in their home and his beloved wife’s stomach cut open and their unborn child stolen from the womb. In that moment of abject grief and rage, Jason’s gift fully manifested, which he used in a bloody rampage against a group of hunters before disappearing into the wilds. He lived as a hermit for a time, seeking solace in meditation and faithful observance of Arithelia’s teachings and deepening his connection the the gifts granted to him. Jason would wonder amid the trees, meditate near waterfalls or still lakes; he even stumbled upon a cave that held a large deposit of crystals, one of which he manipulated onto a string of prayer granite prayer beads. Though he would sometimes be forced to kill in order to feed himself, he always offered a prayer for the slain animal and diligently used any part of it he could so that nothing would go to waste. Over eight years of near-total isolation and spiritual healing, he finally came to terms with his grief. He swore that he would never again fall prey to senseless violence and would preserve life to the best of his ability.

Then, another change would spur him to act once more. Rumors of a small child of great power reached his ears. Descriptions of this child aligned with some of the old tales of his goddess. Could it be that the Mother of Magi was wandering the land? With the belief that it was so set firmly in his chest, Jason would swear another oath: to find his goddess and, by his life or his death, protect her from harm.

Earth I: You are able to geokinetically animate 500 lbs of earth one time. And when I say earth, I mean anything the earth has birthed naturally. Rocks, sand, dirt, etc. The material must be of 100% natural to be animated. For instance, metals cannot be at this stage.

In desperate situations, Jason will use his magic to encase his hands with stone claws to augment his strikes.

You know the basics and can hold your own in a street fight.
The type of martial art or fighting style is up to you.

Before being imprisoned in the Relocation Camps, Jason spent nearly a decade as a professional mixed martial artist, winning and holding two titles for five of them. His style focuses on powerful, precision strikes coupled with dozens of holds and submission techniques. Over his years wandering, Jason has incorporated a close approximation of Krav Maga, a martial art focused on counterattacking and neutralizing opponents as quickly as possible. Practitioners focus on maintaining awareness of surroundings while dealing with the threat in order to look for escape routes, further attackers, objects that could be used to defend or help attack, and so on. Jason primarily only uses his skill to disarm and disable without killing, but he does posses the ability to kill if necessary.


Armor: Depending on what level of Earth you are, you can weave together an armor from whatever materials are at your disposal.
