It was a quiet morning in the residential area of Haven, although this was more due to the early hour than anything else. The sun had just begun peeking over the horizon, bathing the sky in the soft pinks and yellows of dawn, which were reflected in shimmering patches in the lake bordering the area dedicated to housing the city’s resident water magi. Most who were not required by work to be out and about knew better than to be up at this hour. Nobu, of course, belonged to neither grouping.
Rather, the lionfish magi had come out for more personal reasons— namely to practice his magic and tai chi. This had taken him to an outcropping of stone which jutted out into the lake, as it often did. Clothed in loose pants held up by a sash, and an equally loose, long vest— partly because he’d wanted to avoid being snapped at for the umpteenth time this week, and partly because there was starting to be a nip in the air— Nobu stood now near the end of the outcropping. All around him, water flowed through the air in a mimicry of each methodical movement he made. At times, the steps were slow and careful, while at others he moved so quickly the water he manipulated snapped through the air like a whip.
As time passed, the sun rose further, and the city began to stir. For the time being, the water magi took notice of neither, choosing instead to keep his attention centered on the task at hand. Even a constant watcher such as he had to take his eyes off his surroundings sometimes, and for the time being Nobu was perfectly content to do so.

It's been a long while since Rynth had been to Haven, to return only after receiving such dreadful news of her student did not ease the constant trouble that plagued her thoughts. The teacher had also took the time to visit a few other students that chose to stay within the safety of haven. Catching up and conversing about the progress of their new life. It felt relieving that several of the students she once knew fondly as children had grown to be capable citizens within this society. It was peaceful, but the price of the peace that had been given to this society came with a militant mindset among the more... eager of magi. It didn't sit too well for her and eventually she left saying only goodbye to quite a few that truly knew who her as an individual. Waking up early on the morning she would leave, Rynth had left quietly leaving a thank you letter to the kind student that allowed her to stay for the duration of her visit. However it was time for Rynth to return to Dagos. Proceeding onwards she felt the early chill of morning. Boots grazing the grass as the early morning dew was collected by the rough soles and tip of her boots. Rynth shuddered as the cold was starting to get to her. Moving faster with the intent of warming up her body. She stopped soon after spotting something peculiar. A face she hasn't seen in years... pondering on her next action. Rynth decides to take her time examining the water magi. The movement of his body seemed intertwined with the movement of water he commanded. She recognized the movements and art to be one of tai chi, but the only person she knew that mixed the form with his magic was a certain water magi by the name of Nobu. She couldn't help but smile as she watched him from the distance. Maybe it would be better to startle him a bit... something not too drastic, but something to pop out of the ground... Oh yes a shark! Taking a moment she manipulates the image of a swimming shark right in the corner of his eye swimming right towards him to give him a big chomp. Forcing a startled reaction from people wasn't hard when you knew how. The best place to form these images were in the corner of their eyes. As the moment they turn to look they can only react with little thought. Once Nobu had given the reaction she was seeking she would start laughing. The illusion disappearing as she approaches the water magi. "Sorry, you looked so peaceful that I couldn't help the urge to just scare the calm right out of you." She snickered as she spoke trying to control her laughter. Nobu

In the middle of a step, movement flickered on the edge of his vision. Movement that shouldn’t have been there. With the beginnings of a frown on his face, Nobu turned and found… a shark. In the ground, “swimming” towards him with a yawning maw of countless sharp teeth. Instinct kicked in, and once slow movement transitioned into a wickedly fast strike, the water around him surging forward to intercept this strange threat. But in the end, he struck nothing. The shark vanished, leaving the magi alone on the outcropping once more as the water he’d summoned crashed back into the lake. What the hell had that been? An eruption of laughter answered his question not long after it occurred to him, and drew his attention to a shortish, blue-haired magi approaching from the shore. He recognized her, of course. For a time, they’d fought together during the genocides. He’d lost track of how many they’d killed together. However, by no means did that mean the two of them had been particularly close. Enough to make something of a decent team, to be sure, but not much more. They most certainly were not close enough for Nobu to appreciate being toyed with in such a way. Not when he was practicing, and in general, not ever. However, he was careful to school his expression into one of perfect calm. Crossing his arms, he flicked his fins behind him and spoke. “It’s generally rude to interrupt people like that, you know,” the lionfish magi observed, contemplating the benefits of throwing Rynth into the water out of spite. And perhaps holding her under for just a little longer than necessary… “… What are you doing here, Rynth?”Rynth Lumaban

Rynth continues to laugh until she begins coughing as she does her best to retain her breath. After exercising that lung capacity, Rynth let's out a eased sigh. "To be fair, my life is in more of a constant danger than yours. Considering I live in Dagos still." Rynth kept an image of herself circling the magi to keep himself from getting too relaxed. Taking a seat to rest and watch the magi once more. "If you must know why I'm here. I'm here visiting a student... But I can help you your target practice. I'm overly sure we don't need to test reflexes. They seem rather sharp as is." After saying that she forms some shadows that take a similar shape to nobu. They all circle him as if waiting for an action. She had great strength within her illusions, after all her skills as an engineer allowed her to stretch out her imagination. The possibilities were always endless. "I need to practice another ability of mines... If you don't mind to be my test subject. Unlike all the other magi, I normally need someone else to gauge just how effective my abilities are." She stated as she began having some of the targets continue their movement as she sat there. "Well that is of course if you want my help... I'm fine either way." The shadows would turn to a liquid as they moved themselves right infront of the magi. Shifting to the shape of a mechanical skeleton. Pieces slowly go into a predestined place as the figure is of a cyborg. If memory serves her well this was an image of a customer. A rather strange white haired girl that sorta looked like that pop star... But she never made it a habit to pry into the business of her customers. "So I must ask... How have you been... And what have you done to keep busy these last few years?" Rynth struggled with small talk if there wasn't normally a point to talk she would try to avoid such things. Why was she trying to be friendly with him anyways. Recalling the visit of her most recent student stating that she needed to reconnect with the community. Of at least something close to that. "Hey... I've been trying to develop my own abilities... So I must ask would you mind me testing them on you?" she asked with a bored face expecting a no straight away. Nobu

Rather than offer an apology, Lumaban spat out an excuse— and a poor one, at that. His eyes narrowed a fraction, but the subtle change was quickly dismissed with a blink. “And so you would invite more danger by intentionally provoking others,” Nobu countered, tilting his head as though the matter were an oddly curious subject, rather than one that was drawing out his irritation. If one were listening closely enough, they might detect the faint warning tone to his voice. “How very intelligent.”He never took his eyes from Rynth as she walked circles around him, but only turned his head to track her when necessary. Assuming that even was the other magi, of course. Knowing her, with her penchant for hiding, the figure he was watching might not even be there. And then, of course, it was joined by others— shadows resembling his own form. Nobu’s jaw clenched. More games. More provocation. The temptation to lash out was growing stronger by the second. So he shut his eyes, just for a moment. Just long enough to tame his rising temper for the moment. While he did, Nobu answered Rynth’s offer and request. “No.” Simple and straightforward. Playing test subject required a certain amount of trust which the zero magi most certainly had not gained today, if she’d ever had it at all. Never mind that he hadn’t been engaged in target practice in the first place. Perhaps if she’d been paying better attention, she might have noticed… No matter. Nobu opened his eyes to find a new figure, white-haired and robotic, standing before him. Briefly, he considered attacking it to make a point, but concluded it would be a waste of effort. Instead, he turned his attention to answering Rynth’s empty questions, despite the fact that that, too, seemed a waste. “I have been well enough.” He folded his legs beneath him to “sit” a few feet off the ground. The second, as it was none of her business, and he was in no mood to share, went unanswered. The third, redundant, earned a raised brow. “You’re certainly keen, aren’t you? What’s this ability, then, that you’re so eager to put to use against former allies?”Rynth Lumaban (ooc: I’m going to warn you now that if Rynth continues to poke at Nobu like she has been, he will attack her.)

Throughout the conversation Rynth started to notice a difference in body language... She hasn't provoked another magi to attack her before and from the looks of it she might be pushing him to the point of considering. She started to play with her own illusions as her image's arm disappeared replacing the arm with mechanical bits as it was pieced together bit by bit. Thinking back to installing cyborg bits to newly made bionics as she could never fully continue without assistance from a doctor who was as surgically precise as she was with her mechanisms. As he seemed to strain himself on the idea of her using him to experiment her abilities on. Maybe it would be best to test her ability to erase a memory. It took a bit of concentration... And she needed to be closer than she would have ever preferred in order to use her ability. Maybe testing how much he could. Get him comfortable for the situation as her illusion reverted to her original appearance... Tail nub, snake like eyes, and scales to match as the illusion approaches him cautiously testing the waters. The illusion would reach out to him as she spoke "Don't move... And let me concentrate. This makes me feel more uncomfortably naked you would care to understand." As the illusion would place her hands on Nobu's right shoulder and cheek, Rynth placed her own hands on the corresponding spots of herself. Her left hand firm on her right shoulder and her right hand cupping her left cheek. She used her sympathy to simulate the feelings of her hands would be placed upon nobu taking a deep breath. As she focused on another feeling to share... First the cold air... How it chilled her to the bone... Then taking a deep breath as her illusion would follow her motion to allow the chill of the air envelope her inner chest. "Can you feel it?" she asked her face had become blushed as her own body was trying to warm itself up. She kept herself mindful of her own state as the illusion followed in her reaction. If he hadn't struck her down then maybe it would be a good chance to test out one more ability. Nobu

Apparently, he either hadn’t been clear enough, or Rynth was so confident in her ability to avoid repercussions that she thought proceeding with her plan after being expressly told “no” was a good idea. His arms fell to his sides, feet shifted, and muscles tensed in anticipation. Blue eyes tracked every movement of the other’s illusory hands, until they were “touching” him directly. Then, briefly, he waited, letting her think whatever she pleased while he extended his magic out toward the lake at his back. He felt the water there, established subtle influence over as much as he could manage, shifted slightly… And struck out with all the force and speed he could muster. Five hundred gallons of water surged up and out from the main body to rush forward in a raging torrent. As the mass neared, it split into two to circle around the water magi, only to come crashing back together at the point where Rynth’s illusion stood before surging outward again. On Nobu’s direction, the water twisted and spread out in a wide circle, to cover as much area as he could manage. With it, he sought not to see contact with another body, but feel it through the way the water collided with whatever might lay in its path. He may not have been able to trust his eyes, but not even an illusionist as powerful as the snake before him could inhibit that sense. “I believe I told you ‘no’,” Nobu hissed over the rushing of the water, eyes narrowed and fins flared. “You really should have listened.”Rynth Lumaban

Well that outcome had been rather boring. It wasn't unexpected for Nobu to react in such a way as Rynth was at a relatively safe distance still. In his anger she actually got to see something rather intriguing. The amount of raw command power he has on water was definitely something that was far improved compared to what she has previously seen during the genocide. Seeing as it was a power that would be used against her she thought it would be best to leave. With a sigh her voice echos amongst the illusions as she has them surround Nobu to give him targets for his frustration and anger. Either way with the way he was acting it would draw attention. To the both of them... Unfortunately the magi like him may be too reliant on such abilities that they forget the tools they have to conquer others can be right in front of them. She draws her gun aiming it up in the sky as she walks away. "Well it was fun while it lasted Nobu, but you should really take time to cool off. Honestly though it is refreshing to meet someone of a water background that is closer to a hot head than the rest of his kin." Her illusions chuckle until they finally fade away. From the distance the zero magi has already put between both her and Nobu. With her illusions having finally faded away as she had Her gun raised into the air to end up focusing on an old scar before finally bolstering Her pistol. Maybe they'll meet again or maybe not.. Nobu(well she's leaving.)

Nothing, nothing, nothing. Every figure that appeared, the water passed through. Of course it did— Rynth wasn’t quite that stupid. She wouldn’t reveal herself now, nor did he expect her to. However, wanting was another matter. He wanted the real snake to appear, so he could catch her in a bubble and watch the panic in her eyes as she struggled for breath that would not come and—!
Gone. With an echoing chuckle, the illusions were gone. After a moment, the water surrounding him slowed, then stilled, undulating in the air as its manipulator searched for any sign that the zero magi remained. Nothing. No sound, no sight, no extended sensation through the water. Rynth had apparently left.
Taking in a slow breath through his nose, Nobu relaxed his stance and straightened up, fins and spines settling once more against his back. Other residents of Haven had begun to gather, curiously drawn by the unexpected commotion so early in the morning. The lion fish magi pretended not to notice them, turning instead to release the water he’d drawn back into the lake. No one dared approach, but he could hear concerned whispers from a few, likely as they wondered aloud just what had happened.
Once the water had been replaced, he shut his eyes, focusing on his breathing in order to push his anger away. He would not forget it, of course, but the incident had passed. Now was the time for a return to calm. When he felt he had, Nobu reopened his eyes and turned to head into the city proper to get on with the rest of his day.
(The end!)
