Notes S'all good love, better to break it up than awkwardly cram and ruin the flow!
| 'TIL DEATH DO US PART, AND IT DID She took in the scene for a few more moments; it reminded her of the park. It was the only bit of nature in Felici that soothed her, and for the life of her, she didn’t know why. Then again, maybe it had to do with the missing memories. She didn’t really understand if this goddess had secret motives for enlightening her, but she knew it didn’t matter either way; She was offering help for the one thing that troubled her, and Dullahan was willing to take any assistance she could get. First the broker, now a goddess. She certainly wouldn’t have expected she’d end up here. She took a deep breath of the fresh air and rubbed her arm. She had never felt so at peace. The way her skin responded to the wind, to the grass, to her own touch… she never had a time or memory where her vibrant human sensations felt something pleasant. The sensation of synthskin existed, but it was muted, like a voice muddled by walls. Part of her didn’t… want to leave. It was a strange adjustment, but if this was what it was like to be human, she didn’t want to return to her unnatural body. But when the hand was offered to her, she looked to the goddess, and placed her hand in Hers with a determined nod. This was a temporary illusion, the easy way out. She had a lot of work ahead of her, and this could very well be a critical step. With one last look at Farah, she breathed a deep sigh. “I’m ready.” |

Welcome to your
"Very good." Nevyne would say as her fingers wrapped around the mortal's hand. Opgraven would return his offered appendage to his side in seeing the soul preferred Nevyne's hand over his. Fine by him. He wasn't one to have his feelings hurt on such small manners. When Caroline would take the Goddess’s hands the scene would shift. The grassy plains and the peaceful area would turn into a warzone. Thousands of bodies would be strewn across the ground and tents pitched were on fire. The goddess would hum to herself as the chaos gathered around the two beings, smiling as she stepped over a dead earth magi. “Oh isn’t it quaint, he dreams of burning every last one of them.”
Caroline would see a scene of war and pain in front of her and at the center of it all, an oddly family figure. A woman would be sitting on a throne of flowers that would seemingly grow out of nowhere. The flowers intertwined with the woman’s fingers, plucked into her hair, and vines grew around the woman’s body keeping her tied to her seat. Her eyes would fill with fear as something approached from behind the goddess and the visitor.
Walking through the two of them Caroline would watch her father, an axe in one hand, and a flaming sword in the other. Glasses were mounted upon his nose as he smiled cruelly. His figured was dripped in the blood, of presumably his enemies, and he seemed intent on killing this woman as well. Caroline would see her father approach throne slowly, wielding his sword and setting ablaze the seat. His eyes glazed over, not realizing what he was doing before he suddenly began to shake.
Caroline would see before her a man fall to his knees, realizing that his hope was burning alive in front of him, and was screaming in agony. It would dawn on the woman, if it hadn’t already, that the this was her mother. There were faint images that would flash in her memories. “This is a reoccuring dream of his,” the goddess tittered. “Looks like your father blames himself for that woman's death. I believe it's his wife.”

| 'TIL DEATH DO US PART, AND IT DID She shuddered upon setting eyes on the new scene. Fire. Why the hell was it always fire? Fire in her nightmares, fire in her father’s nightmares, fire when fighting Magi… She had enough of it to last her entire, unnatural life. She’d be happy to never see it again, but she couldn’t back out now. She tensed herself, resolved to stick this through. “Seems right for him,” she said, surveying the scene around them. Dead magi were good magi, as far as she was concerned. And yet, more chills ran through her spine. Gods, it was just like that night. Corpses. Fire. A ruined camp. Nothing but destruction and the scent of fire and death. It couldn’t be her camp… he wasn’t there. Not when it happened, anyway, but after…? She shook her head with a shuddered breath. Her eyes were drawn to the unnatural figure in the throne. Flowers, vines, life, amid all this burning and chaos. She felt an eerie sense of calm just looking at her. Gods, she was beautiful, in the same way a sculpture or painting might be. But… she was a stranger. Why did Dullahan feel as though they’ve met before? Did she know her from before the incident? Her head whipped around, looking for an earth magi, no doubt the one responsible for binding her to the chair… and then her father walked through her. Blood-soaked. A flaming sword. Death in his eyes. She’d never seen him like this; he was a coordinator, a tactician, and a politician. She knew he’d been something of a fighter in the past, but now, as an old man, the image seemed odd. She hardly had time to dwell on it; he ignited the woman’s seat and… immediately regret it? That wasn’t like him. He never showed weakness. Her eye widened. Wait… no, her face was so familiar! And then Nevyne confirmed it. The face… were those faint images of her? Did the crackling voice of her auditory hallucinations belong to her, too? “My… mother?” She said, her voice barely above a whisper and shaky to the point of breaking. She couldn’t remember her. Her father must have destroyed or hidden any pictures, too; even the internet seemed strangely devoid of any pictures. She… didn’t even know her name- not really, anyway; who knew if her father gave out her real name? She took a tepid step back. “But why would he blame himself? Magi killed her when she tried to help them.” Or, well, that’s what he told her. Was that even true? How much stock could you really put into a dream, though? Maybe he was mad he couldn’t save her. She wasn’t looking for answers, and didn’t expect the goddess would give her any. She was thinking out loud, and for the first time in eight years, her ears heard her own voice questioning … everything, at this point. “This is… a lot to take in,” she finally admitted. It was a confirmation statement made to reassure herself, rather than a skeptical one made to question the goddess. She was going to have many long days ahead of her, trying to sort through lies and red tape. |
