Nothin' else seems to hurt

"You're helping Mae?" Elijah asked, genuinely interested. Whether this girl was real or not it was interesting to see such a young magi woman claiming such a thing. Maevia indeed worked with a great many variations of people. Doctors, lawyers, politicians. Individuals who were in need for her darker expertises. The idea that this teenager knew of his little Mae Mae in that light cast this Ms Fey in a, well, new light as well. "You mean 'work for her'?" He'd ask with a narrowed gaze. His tone nor facial expression was a disrespectful one. Surprise perhaps was the best word to describe it.
Though on second thought, Elijah seemed to recant his question as he saw Maevia walk into the doorway his feet recognized. "Well I'm happy Mae was able to help you." He'd say with a sense of pride. His best friend's little girl had truly grown up to be an incredible woman. Talented and quick witted to boot. Terry would have been proud. It didn't matter if Fey answered his previous question or not. He'd state as much regardless. How quick he was to praise his niece.
"She's a good friend to have." Elijah would state before picking up his pace into a faster jog. The last thing he wanted was for that door to close before he reached it. There had been something off about his niece. A nervousness, a skittishness. As happy as he had been to see Maevia, there was that pit in his stomach that told him something was wrong. That girl had a poker face that he would never have wished to play poker against. Well, back in the days he could see of course. The fact Mae had been displaying such behavior, in the wide ole' public, there was something wrong. And so, armed with a protectiveness compliment of an uncle to a niece, he'd enter the building with a stern determined manner.
