HEADS, I LIVE. TAILS, YOU DIE. 483 words for Kalidasplease don't kill me.
The ruins reminded him of the headquarters for the Hunter's Guild. It had the same architecture, the same rigid ninety degree angles, the same high walls, though these were crumbling now. Even in size, they were similar. Orion was certain that if he'd come to this place when it was still operational, it would have been impressive in its sheer scale. It stood now as a faded testament to how his country had failed to eliminate the greatest threat to its peace and security, and he scaled one of the broken walls with ease to look down on the crumbling interior. Nature had already begun to reclaim its grounds, with weeds and grass having overgrown the concrete ground below. This was the perfect place for what he had in mind. No one had seen the inside of its walls in many years, and so he would have privacy.
Finding an open area in the courtyard, he set up the ingredients for the ritual. The pelt of a stag, which he had hunted, skinned, and had tanned, lay at the center of the altar he had created. Along its edges, he placed the bones he had brought for the offering, the hand of a zero Magi, the skull of a kestrel, the teeth of a wolf-formed fire Magi. To complete his offering, he placed some pumpkin slices along the sides of the altar, remembering how the keepers at Kalidas's Chapel had arranged their offerings. The last item out of the bag was the tail of a water Magi, one that he had nearly drowned trying to obtain. He sighed at the memory, and looked around to make sure he hadn't forgotten anything. Everything was in place.
Kneeling in front of the altar, he took his sword and his gun from their sheathes and placed them on the ground behind him. The area was quiet, lacking even the smallest breath of wind, as if the plains were holding their breath. Inclining his head, Orion began to pray.
"Great Goddess of the Hunt, Kalidas," he said, laying his hands in the dirt in front of himself, "I come before you to present an offering, in return for your favor. Please accept these tokens of my devotion."
The odds were always fairly low that Kalidas would respond to him in person, and from the tales he'd heard about her, the idea that she might not show up at all was not one that bothered him. Whether she showed up or not, he would leave the items at her altar. He had set them aside specifically for that purpose, after all. But if she did show... a shiver worked its way down his shoulder blades, and he continued praying. Perhaps she would be placated by his devotion, and wouldn't do something unspeakably horrible to him. He had served her faithfully ever since joining the Hunter's Guild, after all.

The grass beneath the hunter swayed lightly in the breeze as it would normally when the wind came. But this time, the grass seemed to stand on end before recoiling back into the dirt--or rather it tired to do such a thing. Instead, the tips of the grass curved downwards and rested against the earth as if bowing its own lifeless head towards the deity as she descended from above. The sounds of pawing feet happened for a moment and if Orion took a moment to peer out from his prayers, he would see a great blue beast appear. It sat before the alter, directly behind it with its glowing eyes peering at the mere human being. It was as if the beast was judging the man and debating if he was worth it's time or a free meal.
The beast tilted its blue head to the side and almost smiled before finally it changed in a instant into a woman. Her skin remained as blue as the fur the beast wore. Her hair as thick as a tree in wild dreadlocks. This woman looked far more primal and intimidating then the beast moments ago. Barely dressed, Kalidas reached out and touched the offers gently. Her palm slid across each one and she looked pleased.
Her hand came to a sudden stop upon the tail of the water magi and she plucked it from the table. Said tail disappeared in a strange trail of smoke. From there, she rested her gaze upon her treasured Hunter. She then turned to look at the area she had been called too and chuckled softly. "An interesting taste in summoning." She seemed to muse on this before once again looking down at Orion. Slowly, she moved her offerings to the side and sat next to them, legs crossed. "You're devotion pleases me as does your offerings, my child." Her voice came out in a feline purr. Her hand reached for the pumpkin slice that she picked at lightly with her thick claw like nails.
"As do you, child. I have seen your deeds and my heart flutters at your hunting skills. My favor is yours, especially, if you keep bringing me such wonderful trinkets." Her hand moved from the pumpkin to the teeth to her left. Smiling, she took them in hand and pressed it against her chest. Upon removing her hand from her bare self, the teeth would appear strung across her neck on a new strap of leather. "Such flattery."

HEADS, I LIVE. TAILS, YOU DIE.
He wasn't certain what he was expecting when he summoned Kalidas. The statues at the temple were of a muscular man, but whenever Oliver spoke of the deity, it was always her. Only the instinctive fear told him that he had succeeded. The blue beast, somehow, was a form of the goddess herself. He dared not say anything as it examined his offerings, swallowing thickly. He knew enough of Kalidas to know that she could be wrathful if she was not pleased. The beast looked at him, and he stopped breathing as it tilted his head, a movement he'd seen in a cat before it pounced on a mouse. When it transformed into the guise of a woman, he released the breath he'd been holding. Oliver had been right. Kalidas was a beautiful blue-skinned woman, but there was a wildness about her that was somehow not surprising.
There was nothing he could do but watch and wait until she reacted. At her laugh, he squirmed a little. It wasn't exactly a happy sound, but as she spoke, he realized that she liked the setting he had chosen. He'd hoped that she would, since it had been the site of the deaths of so many Magi in the past, and there had been a lot of her Hunters stationed there. Still, it was a relief, since it had been a real roll of the dice. He didn't like to think of what she would do to him if she was displeased. With that thought in mind, he dare not look her in the face until she said that she was pleased.
Sitting up a little more, he dipped his head in acknowledgement of her words. Did he dare to speak to her? Would she be angry if he tried? He had the feeling that she would want him to do something. She'd made the trip, after all. Besides, touchy as the gods could be, he knew that Kalidas valued bravery.
"I have devoted my life to your service," he said quietly, looking back up at her. "It gratifies me to know that I have pleased you. I only hope that you think well of my service."
Orion wasn't stupid. If he didn't show the proper respect, he knew that she had the power to blast him off of the face of the planet. Only an idiot would have run at the mouth in that context. But he was beyond pleased that Kalidas had appeared, and even more so that she seemed pleased with him. It hadn't been a small thing, going from being a simple University student to becoming a Hunter. It had taken months and months of blood and sweat to get him to the level of strength he had now. And he was painfully aware of how far he had to go, to get himself strong enough that he could hold his own against some of the older Magi that remained in hiding from the Hunter's Guild.
Perhaps Kalidas would help him with that.
"Great Kalidas," he said, bowing his head again. "I seek to become stronger, that I might serve you better."

”Hmm?” She pulled her vision away from her offerings that she was fully admiring like any good woman would do. She loved gifts and she often incorporated them into her appearance in some form or another. Her eyes came to rest on the human with a look of mild interest. Yes, he served her well as he should. If he was slacking off or doing something that displeased her he would have been visited in such a away that a blue beast is all that he would see before Tatara came for him. ”Indeed, I do. Though I feel you please me with such gifts for a reason and not from the heart.” Her tone went from amusement to a dead flat line in under a second though her smile remained on her face it would slowly turn into a feline grin.
Idly, she crossed her legs at the ankle and awaited for this human’s response in which she would grin larger. So, this human seeks power to become stronger. How interesting. Oliver had done the same many moons ago and her gift had backfired upon her in such a way she ripped her blessing from his very being. Perhaps, that was the reason the man was so broken. She might of pulled his soul to hard to fast. Still, this one was very different then the other human. A small purr escaped her icey lips. ”You see power do you? What would you do with this power if I bestowed it upon you, Orion Lorne? Would you provide me with more gifts and entertainment? Or, will you do something quite different.” This idea seemed to catch her attention more then anything else.
She lowered her hand upon the next item on the table and looked at it as if it suddenly bored her right then. ”Before you answer, think hard upon my question as I do not wish to hear sappy words from you. Such as in ‘I’ll do whatever you desire of me’. It is so uncreative that it urks me enough to consider removing ones head from their shoulders.” Her eyes locked on to Orion once again as she suddenly pushed herself away from her items and moved towards Orion at an easy pace. Her feet barely touched the ground as the distance between them started to narrow. She soon came to a complete stop as she stood no more then five feet from him. Her hands came to rest upon her bare hips as she shifted her weight to one side. Leaning towards him, she awaited his answer and even beckoned him to speak with a movement of her finger.
”Though, today I promise not to bite. I like you, child.”But the main question at this time was did she like him for being such a great hunter or with ketchup?

HEADS, I LIVE. TAILS, YOU DIE.
His breath caught at the insinuation that he was insincere in his worship, but he kept himself from answering back. Kalidas was not typically a goddess that one worshiped out of the love they had for her, considering the very nature of what she asked of her followers. She was not kind, nor loving, nor forgiving. Her followers tended to be very much the same way, and he'd never questioned whether that bothered her. Doing something for the love of someone... It had been a long time since love had been his motivation, although at first he'd tried to convince himself that it was love for his mother that had inspired his actions. He knew the truth now, and he wasn't foolish enough to try to convince himself otherwise. It was hate that drove him.
"You see the hearts of your followers," he acknowledged. "Mine doesn't have much room for such sappy attachments as love. I live for the Hunt."
He wasn't sure how she would take that, but it was the truth. Hopefully, she would appreciate his candor, and not think he was trying to be disrespectful. One thing that he knew for a fact was that the gods could be unpredictable, and he wasn't looking to be eaten by those feline teeth, whether or not she said that she wanted to harm him. If it was a lie, who would call her on it? He wouldn't have time to even protest before he was dead, he knew.
At her next question, he was quiet for a long moment. She didn't want a flowery response, she wanted the truth. A goddess after his own heart. His own gift for eloquence was limited, and reserved only for the few people who had his respect. That list wasn't very long.
"I will use it to kill," he said baldly, his eyes narrowing. "I will hunt down Magi wherever they are found, and end them. And when they are dead, I will present their cooling corpses to you as a gift."
There was raw heat in his voice as he spoke, a tiny glimpse of the inner inferno that had driven him to devote his life to the Hunters long before he had the means to fight his way out of a paper bag. It was the same hatred that had driven him to worship a goddess of domination and murder, and he knew that it was what gave him an edge over his opponents, who fought only for something as cheap and worthless as their own lives.

Ah, her Hunter had a smart head on his shoulders. This pleased her greatly and while she listened to his words one clawed finger touched the corner of her lips as she once again took another few steps towards him. Ah, Orion Lorne was an interesting human to her right now. He showed no fear to her, stood as firm as a rock and looked ready to pounce if he was allowed to such a thing. Yes, he even had nothing to hide from her and she could see into his delicious soul. She had done well with this human and he could almost excel past Oliver Wynter if he kept his course bold and true. ”Yes, I can see into the hearts of my followers.” She admitted to him as if it was nothing of importance. ”But where is the fun of me digging for the answers while I can simple ask for them?” The distance between the two was at zero.
Kalidas had fully invaded the Hunters bubble by pressing her form against his own. She stood taller then him but that did nothing to stop her from placing her hands upon either side of his face. Her long talons rested around his head while the ones upon her thumb barely rested upon his tear ducts before pressing into them slowly. Orion would feel the pressure around his socket but no damage would be done to him and not even a single drop of blood would spill from his being. The Goddess leaned down towards his face. It was as if she was preparing to maul his face if she saw a single thing she disliked. Luckily, she saw nothing to cause ill favor. Tilting his head up, she peered into his eyes. His vision would be filled with a woman giving him the most satanic smile that was possible while her eyes dilated into nothingness. ”The Hunt is all that matters.” Those words where reinforced with a loud purr of joy. Yes, this human knew how to please her.
Her pinkie drilled into his flesh slowly and she watched his features, her eyes scanning for any type of uncomfortable reaction to stirr from the lad. ”I like the way you think, Orion, though your words excite me to no end.” Finally, she chuckled at him. If he had no reaction to the pressure she put upon him she would thin rest his forehead upon his own. However, if any discomfort could be seen she would do the same and apply far more pressure and allow her talons to dig into his skin but never puncture the soft tissue.
”Very well, I shall offer you a gift. If, you think you can handle what I will bestow upon you as most human’s seem to have…strange reactions to it.” She chuckled once more, feeling amused by past memories. ”However, I think you will accept it perfectly fine without a mishap.”

HEADS, I LIVE. TAILS, YOU DIE.
It took all of Orion's considerable nerve not to retreat as Kalidas stepped closer and closer, and he breathed in slowly to calm the reaction he was sure she was trying to create in him. Her scent wasn't helping matters, a mixture of spices and raw femininity that seared his senses as she meandered closer. She was taller than he was by almost a half foot, and there was no doubt in his mind as to which of the two was more dangerous. He wasn't sure whether he wanted to pull away or not, even if had been an option. There was something mesmerizing about her eyes and the way that she moved, and he found himself watching her to the exclusion of anything else, leaving his hands at his sides. There was little point in trying to fight back if she decided to destroy him anyway.
He found himself relaxing as she put her fingers on either side of his face, with her claws digging into his skin. There was no pain, and perhaps that was why he was able to face her without showing fear, despite how his heart was racing. Whatever his mind was telling him, his body could not forget that they were face to face with a predator. Perhaps THE predator. Yet his eyes showed no alarm, perhaps finding refuge in the same iron nerve that had allowed him to get this far. Or perhaps he was simply dazed by the proximity of the goddess, who seemed to delight in testing his reactions. The discomfort in his eyes was growing, but the pain was nothing compared to even the ache that he felt when he pushed himself in a workout. He persevered.
She tilted his head upward, and he felt his heart pounding in the veins of his neck, which was exposed to her attention. Her smile was unnerving, to say the least, somewhere between feral and possessive. The goddess of domination? Yes, he had known in theory that she was considered the goddess of domination, but he had never been the one in this position, that of the powerless one. He could tell she was savoring it, enjoying testing him. Patience, he reminded himself, forcing the muscles in his jaw not to flex and show how aware he was of his own powerlessness. A goddess of domination though she was, her children were Hunters, not victims.
Finally, she seemed to accept that he wasn't going to react, and she placed her forehead against his, before speaking. Her breath washed across his face as she spoke, and he lowered his gaze in relief. How was he so tired, when all he had done was stand there?
"You are most gracious," he said, his voice somewhat ragged from the stress of the past minutes.

Ah, there it was the look of mild discomfort from her invading his being. It was almost intoxicating as she waited to see what else he might do but nothing seemed to happen other then tightened muscles and a racing heart beat. The blood that pounded through his veins at an increased rate was music to her ears. Her gaze drifted down to his neck for a brief moment as she licked her lips in pleasure. Her child was doing his best to remain calm and still as a statue and she liked that. She loved it when her children obeyed and stood their ground with her just like this.
Talons lightly drummed against his skull. She made a low humming sound with that possessive smile still across her features. Closing her eyes, she took a deep breath and then finally chuckled. "Yes, I am rather gracious aren't I?" She wasn't too sure why that sentence made her chuckle. Cracking her eyes back open she peered into Orions eyes or rather his soul one last final time. He would receive her blessing and a gift that he so desperately wanted from her when he called out.
The tall Goddess bent forward and tilted her head to the side. Her hold upon the humans skull remained firm and if he choose to pull away he would be rewarded with ripped flesh. If he remained in place he would soon find the Goddess lips locked onto his own. She invaded his mouth roughly to explore what the human had to offer.
Those lovely talons of hers slowly removed themselves from his head to trail down his neck, shoulders, chest, and finally resting firmly on his hips. They dug into the fabric roughly. It was at that moment that Orion would feel something rather unnatural flowing throughout his system. His blood would feel as if it was boiling all the while increasing his body temperature, though at the same time he would feel numb for a brief moment. It was prehaps the most uncomfortable and yet exhilarating sensation the man would ever have at this time.
As quickly as the molesting came it suddenly ended. Kalidas pulled away from the human in all sense and smiled down upon him. She knew what was about to happen as his sense tried to adjusted to what happened to him as well as the sudden impact he would feel from his new gift that was bestowed upon him so intrusively. "Use the gift wisely, Hunter." She spoke to him with a a light warning while taking to licking her lips and touching the side of her lower lip with a single talon. "Don't let it cloud your mind. I rather you not die before you properly learn to use it or rather, adjust." She cackled lightly and now rested her cheek in the palm of her hand as she watched her Hunter with entertainment.
On another note, she had to admit that her follower tasted rather well. Truly, he was made for her cause.

HEADS, I LIVE. TAILS, YOU DIE.
This was not at all what he had been expecting when he had summoned Kalidas. Just that morning, he hadn't been entirely sure what gender the Goddess of the Hunt was, and now she was... being very personal. His mind went curiously blank as her tongue played about his lips, and she pressed into his mouth, stealing his breath away as she toyed with him. After a moment of confused hesitation, he allowed his tongue to move in concert with hers, but he didn't dare move otherwise. He wasn't entirely sure what she was looking for, or if she was just doing this because she enjoyed making him nervous, but it wouldn't have surprised him if it was a combination of the two. He felt tingles down his flesh as her claws roamed down his sides, but he simply waited, hardly daring to react. Something was happening.
It... it wasn't a tingle. Some sort of energy was flowing into his body, and it started as simply unusual in sensation, but the intensity was rising steadily. His blood was racing through his veins, and he forced himself to stay silent as it became painful. His breath stopped in his throat, his muscles tensing in reaction to the raw energy that was coursing through his body. He wasn't sure if he could have moved if he wanted to, with his fingertips going numb as if he was wearing a tourniquet, but he knew that even if he could have, he needed not to. The energy was more than he'd ever felt, like raw electricity setting every nerve ending on edge, a hundred times more intense than any adrenaline could have been. He could think of nothing but the feeling itself.
And then as suddenly as the sensation had come, it faded. The sudden return to normal left his muscles weak, almost shivering from the sheer energy that had flowed through them. He released the breath that he hadn't been entirely conscious of holding, and closed his eyes for a short moment as he slowly became aware of a new instinctive sense. The gate that was three hundred... No, three hundred twenty yards away... The wind was blowing from the north east, and the wall would disrupt the air currents. He knew the exact angle he would have needed to hold his gun to shoot through it. He knew without being able to explain why.
His eyes lifted to the goddess, his mouth still full of the taste of her tongue as she spoke to him. His brain still felt a little scrambled, with half of his mind trying to process the new information, and the other still reeling. Kalidas had kissed him. Not only kissed him, but used tongue. Holy goddess, she had practically molested him. Perhaps it was best not to say that out loud.
"I will do my best," he said, his voice low as he inclined his head. "Thank you."
