Two things that can push the sci-fi much further than it feels right now. Only because the only strong sci-fi feel is the cyborg race.

But augmented reality can make the cities of inertia feel truly sci-fi. An example is a club that supports augmented reality...
Scenario wise a hacker wants to meet someone to trade information. Their informant goes into a private booth. The electronic beats making the air bounce as a waiter gives him a set of glasses with ear buds. Putting on said glasses he can see the true combination of the club. As virtual avatars interact with many patrons in the club. The informant looks to the other side of the chair where the digital form waiting for him to speak.
